I love nights out in Thunder Road and will still go for a night out for the atmosphere, cocktails and the food but I will not bring kids during the day again. I brought my nephews in for a treat and ordered from the kids menu when the meal arrived it was served on a adults plate the chips and nuggets looks miserable in the middle of the plate it didn't looked like he was going to have enough to eat. If they are going to offer kids meal they really need to make more of an effort even the menu had loads of pictures on it I thought they were going to have to colour it in but they were not given crayons and the menu was taken back off them anyway. I felt like I couldn't enjoy myself because I worried about his meal. I was also charged for his meal when it states on the website that kids eat free with every adults meal I pointed this out to the waiter and the bill was changed.

We bought the 3 course menu for €36.95, very expensive for the food we were served up. The restaurant was busy the day we were in but the food was just thrown together the chicken wings were soggy and the steak id asked for well done came out rare after waiting for over an hour.. Maybe il try a different less busier time but not a great place you want a quiet meal for too as you can barely hear with the music thumping too loudly

I visited here for dinner midweek with two friends and found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. There was quite a few other diners in the restaurant and the atmosphere was nice, however, I found the metal chairs and tables that we were seated at a bit old and worn, and also very uncomfortable.
I had the bruschetta for starters - and it was delicious. I ordered the prawn fajitas for my main course and they tasted fine, although halfway my second fajita, I was horrified to find a long hair in my food. I promptly informed the waitress who was very apologetic and offered me another dish. I order the prawn tempura.
I found this dish slightly disappointing, as the tempura was not of the light consistency usually found in Japanese restaurants - it was more like a batter.
The manager approached our table with apologies for the earlier hair incident and to offer me a dessert on the house. I had a Death by Chocolate ice-cream sundae, which was absolutely divine. It was also humongous. However, I must say that the hair in my food really ruined the whole experience for me, and I'd be reluctant to return here again.

Excellent service, ok food, annoying background music!
I ate here last night with ten others. The service was excellent. My burger was tasty but the chips weren;t great, they didn't seem like freshly made chips. My boyfriend enjoyed his ribs'n'wings. The desserts were ok but perhaps a bit overpriced. My biggest issue with Thunder Road Cafe is the fact that they had the same few music tracks on a loop on tvs throughout the restaurant so in our visit there, we heard each track at least twice, which wore a bit thin!

The wife and I ate here on a Monday afternoon. The place was empty but i didn't expect it to be buzzing. We were seated at the back not near a window ? Why so as the place was empty. Normally you'd be seated by a window for passers by purposes to make it look like there's someone there.. The service was quick and efficient. We ordered the combo starter and fries and Potato skins. The skins were bone dry, the wings/onion rings and ribs were cold. Overall it was very disappointing and tasteless for €23. Au Revoir ... we wont be back.

We ate here on mothers day, which was the day after St. Patrick's day not a good choice. We had the table booked however, they did not have our booking but we only had to wait 5 minutes or so for a table. The service was excellent and our waitress was so nice.
We ordered the tampura prawns and when they arrived they looked like cauliflower the batter was not cooked when we complained they replaced them with some which were cooked after a very minutes. Our main course was not great. The childrens food arrived out the same time as our main course even though we asked for it to come with the starter. My husband had a burger and chips which was over priced for what it was. The childrens chips were terrible and we got them replaced but they were not much better. We did not have desserts. The restaurant is noisy but i expected this and it was busy. We won't be back.

Went here on Sunday with my boyfriend. Hostess at the door was ignoring us, so we decided to go to the bar instead wait for a table. It wasn't busy at the time, staff looked bored all the time. The bartender couldn't say anything but '' Can i get ya?'' No "please" or '' thank you"...very sad... After one poorly made drink, we left... NEVER will back again.

I went here with a group. The theme and atmosphere was electric and inviting. The staff were friendly. The food was good, however I felt that the music was way too loud and my group found It very difficult to talk or even hear each other. This was quite off putting.I would not go here again, solely because I could not hear myself think, let alone have a conversation with my friends.

Went here for a family dinner and was delighted to see the kids ate free on weekends before 7.The place was packed with families so I would recomend it for a family dinner. Even though it was busy the waitress was very attentive and service was fast. I had the salmon which I asked for grilled, with a side order of remoulade sauce, which is basically tartare sauce. The fish was cooked to perfection and really tasty. My partner had the chicken and chorizo pasta which was very rich but one of the nicest pastas I have tasted especially for a non italian restaurant. I had a caramel crunch for dessert which was lovely, my partner had the death by chocolate cake which he shared with the kids as it was very rich but very nice. The kids had spaghetti bolognese and beef burger, which were good portion sizes especially considering they ate for free! Overall great for family dining, girls nights out, birthdays etc but I wouldnt recommend it for a quiet evening out, it was a very enjoyable dining experience and will definitely bring the kids back here again.

The hard working and yet jovial staff of this once-proud American style diner are let down in their attempts to bring the best to their customers by a lack luster setting and a kitchen that no longer cares. Like something out of a 1950's novel we ate, put aside the pieces of wilted cabbage and celery and left a mountain of perfectly good food. The quantity only surpassed by the greater mountain of thick sauce used to cover the plate. I had chorizo & chicken pasta and my partner had the ribs & wings combo. Either could have fed us both with left-overs. My side-salad was piled (and dressed) so high I couldn't get into it without spilling all around. With a bit of a make-over and some better quality control, bought with the money saved with serving smaller quantities, this place could be back to its former glory.
