Had visitors from abroad and on their last night in Dublin they wanted to dine somewhere in Temple Bar. The Quays is in the centre of it all and great for tourists. The music is your standard irish trad, the place is made to look like an old fashioned pub. The service is friendly and superefficient, it appeared to me as if great effort had been put in to training the staff, to all have a standard norm of service, to be polite, friendly but not too familiar, to know the menu and be able to get people to order quickly eat quickly and get out quickly so they can get more people in!!! Bit conveyor belt like.... I had the chicken burger, my guests had the stew, the fish and chips and the mussels and seafood chowder. My cajun chicken burger was very tasty. I also had some of the stew and it was delicious. Also tried mussel, also very good. We were a tad upset by 10% service charge added on top of the food that was dear to start with, I didn't see this extra charge mentioned anywhere on the menu, nor explained to us by the staff. But I will probably return here another time, with another set of visitors.

Visited Quays for the first time yesterday and was very impressed.. Very friendly staff and lovely warm relaxed atmosphere helped by the traditional Irish music playing in the background. We had the chicken wings to share for starters (plenty for 2) and they were so tasty!! We both ordered Surf n Turf for mains, which came with chips and a nice garlic/butter drizzle and sun dried tomatoes. Both the red and white house wines were excellent and the profitteroles were perfectly light after such a big main course. I would highly recommend a visit to Quays for an atmospheric meal in the heart of Dublin City.

I went to the restaurant on New Years Day with my boyfriend we just stumbled across it. The staff were so friendly and efficient even though it was really busy. We both had the chicken wings to start which were just beautiful. I had the cottage pie which was melt in the mouth I would have loved to finish it but it was just way too big a portion for me. The boyfriend had Stirloin steak which he said was melt in the mouth cooked exactly as he ordered. I would definately come back either with him or with my family so they can experience the wonderful atmosphere and food.

Have had lunch here a few times, always having their Slow Cooked Beef & Guinness Stew. It is beautiful. The service is good and the food is excellent value. My only dislike is the background music, but it does not stop me from going there. I will be back.

Went here with partner & friend, we had bangers and mash, steak and burger, The steak was aboloutely lovely, so tender and although it didn't come with any sauce, it didn't need it as it was so juicy. Good comments also about the bangers and the burger! Only things were the price of guinness is atrocious in there (€5,50 a pint!!!!), my friend got the wrong dish served @ first, and we were charged full price for one dish @ the end when it should have been the special lunch price.

I went here with my partner on a sunday evening. The restaurant was quiet but there were a few tables. The staff were very pleasant and served us without any delay. We ordered from the main menu from which there was a good selection of food to choose from. We shared the potato skins to start. There were four potato skins on the plate and it was enough to share between between two adults. My partner had the burger for main course which was a big portion but was delicious all the same. I had the chicken wings. They were tasty but i wouldnt order them again for a main course. We did not have dessert but we had drinks to the table which included a bottle of wine. The overall cost of the meal was reasonable and the portions we got were plentiful. I would go back there again.

Got a Sunday lunch time special, meal was excellent value. Atmosphere is cosy and food is just ok, normal pub grub. I wouldnt want to be paying the normal price for it however, not worth that

Had lunch here today with a friend. We both opted for the €10 lunch menu. She had the fish and chips and while the chips were a little on the overdone side, she said the fish was excellent. I had the beef stew with mash and thoroughly enjoyed it. We sat for some time after our meal and nobody rushed us to leave. Will definitely re-visit.

Had a very enjoyable evening at this restaurant. We availed of the Special b menu which was great value. The boxty cake was fab, nicely cooked and full of flavour. Had the fish and chips, big fresh piece of cod in nice batter which was crisp and not at all greasy, served with chunky home made chips. great value at 18.95 for 2 courses. nice atmosphere and friendly service.

We decided to try this restaurant for something different. We had to wait for approx 20 mins for a table. The place was really busy and had a really good atmosphere. The food was fantastic. I had the potato cake and the guiness stew for mains. Yum!!!! My boyfriend had the chicken wings and steak for mains which he really loved. The service was pretty good and our waitress was really helpful and happy! I was paying via lazer and while waiting on my receipt I had left money on the table, but had not said it was a tip and she just picked it up and said thanks. This was even before we had put our coats on and left the table . I felt it was very rude as we never once said it was a tip, although that was the intention. Other than that I would recommend this restaurant for some nice food and a great atmosphere in the heart of temple bar.......

Its a real find. Did not realise the food in here was soo good I was expecting more of the same but it's more cafe than bar food in it's menu. Nice waitress all business hot tasty and real value for money. In tough time good to see something affordable available in temple bar.

I went to the Quays tonight with some friends from Spain who are here on holiday, after getting a table this one waitress kept coming over to table asking are we ready to order food, after the 4th time I said when we are I will call you over, like we were there 10 mins and ordered a drink while they looked through the menu, the waitress told me if we didn't hurry up she would ask us to leave as there were people waiting , I wouldn't mind but there was no one waiting. I was about to explode , but because I had guest with me I bit my tongue and turned my back on her. I have eaten in restaurants all over Ireland as I travel a lot , and I have never been spoken to like that in a restaurant. Truthfully I should of just got up and left but my friends were hungry and I didn't want to make a scene. when we did get dinner my steak was under cooked and I sent it back and then they burned it. The whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth. You would think in these economic circumstances they would be bending over backwards to keep customers happy. Not here anyway.

Party of 5 and we only spent 88.00 Euros plus tip! We were in a hurry so only had one main dish each and dessert (and drinks - 4 cokes and one guinness). I had the Irish Stew with Guinness!! Very tasty!

I was over from Cardiff visiting a few of my friends for the weekend. I have to say this has to be the best restaurant around temple bar at the moment. I loved the the traditional Irish Dishes. For starters I had the Bufflo Chicken Wings. They were delicious. For main course I had the Lamb Shank. The meat utterly fell of the bone with its tenderness. For dessert I had the baileys cheesecake. The service was great. Very pleasant staff and prices are very reasonable. Not overprice for the quality of food you get unlike some other restaurants around temple bar. OVER PRICED for the food that is served up to you. I will definitely be spreading the word in Cardiff about this restaurant.

I had friends visiting from New York recently and thought I'd bring them out for some Irish grub. It started off promising, as the atmosphere was lively and the other customers looked happy. But it was not a good example of Irish food, unless all Irish food is deep fried and of a poor standard, I just had fish and chips, unfortunately the fish tasted old, I didnt finish it.Decent pint of stout though and quite a friendly waitress.

Popped into "The Quays" for an early Sunday dinner with Mr. Boop. Were seated beside the window looking out over Temple Bar which was nice. Decided to share the "garlic mushrooms" for starter. Nice and garlicky and not overdone. Arrived very quickly so they must have a batch on the go. I chose the "Beef with Guinness" for my mains. Very tasty although did need a pinch of salt (something I never add usually). Mr. Boop Opted for the "Surf and Turf". The steak had that lovely char-grilled smokey flavour. Again the food arrived very quickly so it was lucky that we were feeling very peckish. We decided to share "Apple crumble" with cream and custard for afters. It tasted like home made. Yummy. The only thing was that they do not have a "frother" for making their coffee although our very pleasant waitress did bring me hot milk to add myself. Would definitely drop in here next time I'm back in Temple Bar.

First of all I noticed that chips we had were done in old oil. You can spot it, when chips are not gold in color, but more brown and "hard". Then there is service charge which is not advertised. Last of all, we were not given our change back! - even change was only 1.50 Eur. Its more matter of principle then money itself. And I can see it's not only case. We won't go there anymore and not recommend it to anyone.

I heard about restaurant from word of mouth.my boyfriend and i went in for dinner friday evening around 7 shocked to see how busy it was.A nice girl greeted us as we came up the stairs she informed us it will be a ten to twenty minute wait if we would like to have a drink at the bar and gave us a number. she called our number half an hour later.we were seated at a nice table over looking temple bar.i ordered prawns in filo pastry for starter they were very tasty. My boyfriend ordered seafood chowder he said you have to taste it.it was the best chowder i ever had.I usually would order chowder when we go out to eat.For main course we both had surf and turf it was very enjoyable. The steak was flavoursome and went very well with the garlic butter and prawns. We found the place had a friendly atmosphere, and it was nice to have a manager visit our table and asked us was everything okay.

Usually if I'm going out I would choose a different cuisine but my mum and dad visited me over the weekend so I thought I'll try something traditional. We got there at about 6.30 and I was very surprised to see the restaurant almost full. For starter we share a chowder-witch was very, very good and spring rolls. For main course my wife had salmon, for my dad i ordered a beef stew made with guinness, my mam had the traditional Irish stew and i had a lamb shank. They were very well impressed but I have to say my lamb was the best think i ever tried. Service was very good and efficient also, a very good atmosphere overall. We really enjoy it. I'll definitely choose the Irish food more often from now on

Disgusted to find a 10% service charge added to the bill which had NOT been advertised on the lunch menu, worse still, it was only written on in pen, I immediately flagged the waitress down and told her I was not paying the service charge, her response was "fine" I told her it was against the law to add a charge without advising customers in advance but I knew by her reaction she was used to hearing it and didn't care! Essentially this place is there to rip off tourists, 16.95 for irish stew, which is very nice, but at that price, not worth it, €9 for a kids portion of pasta and that doesn't include a drink or ice cream as most places would, I had fish and chips, again, overpriced, was completely tasteless and straight from freezer to deep fat fryer, would not return in a hurry. One last thing, this traditional irish restaurant does not appear to have any irish staff - not the day I was there anyway!!

Food is delicious, but service is ATROCIOUS. I think with all the foot traffic they get from Temple Bar, the servers think that politeness, courtesy and friendliness doesn't matter - then on top of it, they automatically lop a 5% 'service' charge on your bill! Instead of leaving the whole 'gratuity' thing at your own discretion! Very annoying! The only thing that would bring me back here are the chefs - the food is top-notch.

Brought my Canadian Aunt and Cousin there on Friday nite, you cant book so I was a bit worried. It was busy but we didnt have to wait long for a table. We had a fab nite, they loved the live music and the food was really gorgeous. They went for the Irish Stew and the Chicken. I have to say the food was beautiful and the staff very pleasant, would recommend this place for a nice lively Irish night.

Decided I would like something traditional for Sunday lunch and was heading into town picked the quays because of reviews and checking out menu on web. Four for lunch €75. Tried 4 different dishes, breast of chicken, beef and guinness pie, pork chops and salmon. All came out looking very appealing and tasting even better. Not too busy in middle of Sunday afternoon so staff could be a little more attentive. Would happily return and recommend it to any visitors looking for good Irish food at good price

Have eaten here on a few occasions - have eaten in small groups and big groups and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is always good, the staff are fantastic and generally the place is definitely worth a visit. I have eaten the Crispy Duck Spring Rolls, Deep Fried Crispy Chicken Wings, Steak and Chips, Creamy Penne Pasta & Smoked Salmon - (all at different times of course..) and always yum and leaves you wanting to come back for more. I just wish this place had a more intimate setting as it would be perfect then. Though you usually have to wait for a table its worth it.. Keep up the good work.. C ye soon!

The Irish music and location definitely make this a place to take visitors. I didn't much enjoy the fish and chips, but my dining mate seemed quite pleased with his choice of Irish stew. While the downstairs was packed on a Saturday afternoon, the upstairs seating area was much more pleasant than I anticipated.

Went to this restaurant with a group of "tourist' friends who wanted to have dinner in an Irish restaurant. It was actually fairly nice. Although it was packed (Saturday evening),we managed to have a table for 8 quite quickly. It is well organised as you are given a number & can enjoy a drink at the bar while waiting for your number to be called when your table is ready. The atmosphere is nice, especially if you are going with tourists, as they are playing Irish music. Also the meals were quite tasty. I had the seafood chowder as a main & it was lovely & the portion was big enough. Some of my friends had the sirloin steak, and other the beef & Guinness stew & they loved it. My boyfriend (Irish) was a bit disappointed with his "traditional Irish stew" as it had more the consistency of a soup than a stew & there wasn't much lamb & vegetables in this broth. I would however recommend it for tourists as it does give a taste of Irish food. I don't think I would go back myself though, unless some other tourist friends come along.. .

I have been to this restaurant a few times now with friends. I've been impresed with the food on every visit. The waiters are friendly, although it can take a while to get the bill sometimes. This place can be very busy, and expect to wait for 20 minutes or longer, expecially on weekends. There is a bar in the restaurant though, so you can have a drink while you wait for a table, and the food is worth the wait!

I have eaten at The Quays a couple of times now, and never been disappointed. The staff are very friendly, and the meals are satisfying. The prices are just a bit on the pricey side, but if you're looking for traditional Irish food then it's worth a try.

Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here today! Hubby and I decided to try this restaurant after reading all the good reviews - and they weren't wrong. I was surprised we had walked past here many times and not noticed the restaurant, which is upstairs, we just thought it was a pub. Service was good - food was even better and very well presented. For starters we had the potato and leek soup (lovely and thick and creamy) served with brown bread & butter, and the duck spring rolls - very artistically presented and delicious, absolutely packed with tender shredded duck. For mains we had the lamb shank which was so tender it fell off the bone and the Beef & mushroom stew - both served with a chive mash and root vegetables, and both were huge portions. We shared the Apple Crumble, again a good sized portion and very tasty. The only slight disappointment was the menu was much smaller than advertised here and I was hoping to have the crab claws but they weren't on the menu at lunchtime, perhaps it's different in the evening. We had a side portion of chips which weren't fresh cut but frozen, if they'd been fresh we would have given 5 stars all around - but it's my hubby who is the Chip Connoisseur, I can live without them so it's hardly going to put me off eating at 'The Quays'. Overall, great food, great service and a nice place to enjoy a good meal - we'll certainly be regulars from now on.

I visited the Quays restaurant with two of my friends, now granted this was Sat lunchtime at 12.15 so it was empty at that stage, so no problem getting a table. I will say that I found the lunch menu a bit pricy, but the food excellent as was the service, I would definitely go there again.

Have been here on many occasions with business colleagues over from the UK, before we head to the bars. Have to say that the food has always been good quality and good overall value considering its location. It does get busy, but there is a small bar area were you can wait, and have never waited more than about half an hour for a table to become available. This has always been midweek, so may be different at the weekend with all the tourists.

I have been to the Quays restaurant a few times now and have never been disappointed with the food or service. The staff are friendly and are helpful will be going back there soon.

My experience was very different than that of the previous reviewer! I went here on a very busy Friday night, had to wait about 20 minutes for a table (as we were told when we got there). The service was very efficient. The food was good. Had a great night with live entertainment, the music was fantastic and really made our night as a group of 4 a fun night out.

Very rude staff, including the managers and the door staff think they work on the gates of paradise. This place is simply a tourist trap, poor food and service at inflated prices apparently justified by its location.
