It gives me no pleasure to say this was one of the worse restaurant experiences I've ever had. My guest and I were brought to a table for four. There were two of us. This was awkward and uncomfortable. I ordered the chicken wings to start and they were nice and spicey, and accompanied by a cool yoghurt dip. Nothing spectacular, but they did what it said on the tin. I had to ask for a water bowl to clean my fingers. My companion had strips of catfish which were tasteless. Perhaps that's just how catfish tastes, but we wouldn't order it again. When ordering I question our waitress about the Southern Fried Chicken and its price of €20.50. I assumed it must be really good. It wasn't. It consisted of three drumsticks on a bed of sweet potato, some green beens and a bland jus. The chicken was below average and the coating wasn't even as good as you'd expect from a snack box in your local chipper. The sweet potato mash was tasty though and nicely seasoned. My companion had gumbo - a stew with a tomato based sauce, rice and a sweet bread accompaniment. Dooky gumbo meant chicken, pork and chorizo in the stew. The chicken and pork were dry. The chorizo was an embarrassment - there was very little of it, it was thinly sliced and looked like they'd bought the thinly sliced and rather tastless chorizo you see in plastic packets in a Spar or Centra. We had two glass of red and two white. Both were nice. The service was atrocious. There were three waitresses running around in high heels - clip clop, clip clop. We could hear this because there was no music and no atmosphere. All of the waiting staff were gruff, sharp (not in the positive sense of the word) and paid no attention to detail. They almost threw the food at us and banged every dish and glass on the table as if we were in a gritz and waffles dinner at the side of a US freeway. The wrong dishes arrived at our table and we have to wait another 20 minutes for the right dishes to arrive. We weren't asked whether we'd like coffee or desserts and would have h

Service, food and excellent value for money. It’s in temple bar but away from the crowds an absolute delight. A slow January Tuesday in Dublin and delights were to be found in Tante Zoes. We received a very warm welcome. A choice of three different menus, great value was to be had. Our combo platter to start was very tasty and there was plenty to share. The main courses were mouth-watering, blackened catfish and a Mary-Lou. Absolutely no room for desert! Our server explained to us that the restaurant is under new ownership we will definitely be back.

Went with 2 friends for a birthday dinner, found it strange I could not book through Menupages but had heard great things so was excited to try it. We were greeted with an extremely friendly waiter and I found the whole place to have a great ambiance and be completely relaxing. For the mains we ordered two of the Jambalaya's and a Gumbo, all were equally delicious with large portions, we ended up getting take home as we could not finish the meal. Overall tasty food, friendly service and top atmosphere I would highly recommend and will be returning!

Was looking for restaurant late on Sat evening and we decided on Tante Zoes as we hadn't been there for a while but weren't sure if we would get a table, without a reservation as it was after 9:00pm. We were greeted at the door by very friendly staff, advised that there wasn't a table ready immediately but would have one shortly, we were given menu's to browse over and were seated within 5 mins!! Service was excellent and although they didn't have the wine we ordered, they offered a similar if not better wine. Food was excellent, and portions were huge, we both had starters and the Lou Lou May Jambalaya, which was a good as ever, even though the restaurant has changed hands since we last visited. Deserts were to die for, overall we had a great experience, excellent and friendly service, great food and great atmosphere, will definitely be back with a crowd !!

We where part of a big table. The atmosphere was ok, but for an expensive restaurant, you would expect the waiters to be dressed a bit more appropriately, not jeans and t-shirts in all colours. Also the ladies where not very friendly. There was something wrong with most of our orders. My drink was wrong after I confirmed twice what I wanted. The wine had flies and the starter portions where very small for what we paid. A few of us had Surf and turf... surf being 3 little shrivelled up prawns that tasted horrible. My husband ordered his steak with Mash, but since they didn't bother to even remember who ordered what and where screaming out the food they brought to the table, it was given to someone else. The breadbasket was the only thing I sort of liked, but they gave us the baskets second time round with no butter. Half the tea lamps on the table where dead. I will not be going there again. Very expensive for horrible value.

Visited Tante Zoes last weekend, first time there in nearly 17 yrs. Looks like its changed hands a few times over the period, but its now in the capable hands of the new owner and their business partner. Was in Temple Bar on Sat afternoon looking for somewhere different to eat, (on a weekend away with my good wife), and we just stumbled across it again. And I'm glad we did, it was mid afternoon just after opening time and we found ourselves on our own. So thats the reason for not going 5 on atmosphere, as it wouldnt be a fair mark. However we were greeted warmly by the owner and taken to our table where she explained the changes to the menus/new prices etc and as she sorted our wine - a nice semillion chardonnay, we decided on our meal choices. Albandigas (tender meaty pork meatballs in a sumptuos cajun salsa sauce) for my wife and Cajun Calamari for me to start. With some Louisiana blues and Jazz playing in the background we looked out on the terrible rain and were glad to be looking forward to some good "soul" food. Both starters arrived - and although I'm a big calamari fan (they were great) I really envied my wifes choice, it was simply delicious. Main course was Dooky gumbo for me (chorizo, pork and chicken cajun stew with rice and beans with some corn bread) and Blackened Chicken (with cajun chips and salad) for my wife. This time I think I got the better deal, it was divine, hot in temperature and taste with plenty of rice and beans to soak up the gorgeous spicy tomato based sauce. My wife enjoyed her Blackened Chicken (said she might have liked it butterflied) but couldnt fault it really. We chatted with the hostess in between servings and she said she is working very hard relaunching the restaurant and shared some of her ideas for going forward. I hope it all works out, and I hope Tante Zoes is a success all over again. Its a lovely stylish hidden gem in Crow Street Temple bar - just a spilt pint away from all the busy pubs. And I will be back !

This used to be my favourite restaurant. I haven't been in a couple of years. We tried it last night as we had a discount taste card (2 for 1) and this was one of the listed restaurants for the deal. I ordered garlic and chilli prawns to start and my boyfriend had BBQ ribs. The presentation of the ribs was very poor, the prawns were very small and there was a total 6 of them (although a starter I thought this was very small considering the price EUR 9.75) For mains I had blackened chicken with jerk sauce, mange tout, green beans, carrots and wedges. The chicken was lovely, moist and tasty. The veg was over cooked and VERY salty with too much butter. The wedges were average. I thought it was very overpriced for a chicken dish at EUR 21.50. My boyfriend opted for the surf and turf priced at EUR 28.50, again way overpriced for what he got. Fillet steak was pretty good. He asked for it rare and it was perfectly cooked. There was only 3 small prawns on the plate. The presentation was good, served on a wooden board with pepper sauce (tasty) wedges and coleslaw (poor). When we received the bill we had been charged for a glass and a bottle of wine. I had 2 glasses of wine @ 6.50 each, we were charged 6.50 and 22. We sent the bill back ad the waitress was very good about it, in fact I really liked the waitress. When the bill arrived 2nd time it was still wrong. The discount had been manually calculated and was incorrect. Again the waitress was very good about it and explained the till would not allow her to input discount. All in all the bill (including the deal discount) came to 58 - full price 95. I think elsewhere does better food at a much cheaper price and in the centre of town. I left disappointed. I don't think the menu has ever been reviewed nor prices changed to match the current recessional prices in many other restaurants. Had the food been outstanding I could justify it but it was disappointing. I won't be rushing back there.

My boyfriend and I visit this restaurant on special occasions like birthdays/anniversary/graduation. We have been going for the last five years and we were really looking forward to our meal. It had been almost a year since we had a good enough reason to visit. The restaurant was quiet for a Friday night and there was only the manager and one waiter so service was very slow. The food did not match the menu description or our expectations based on previous visits. Our potato skins starter seemed re-heated, the steak was over cooked and the prawn gumbo came with baguette (like you would get in your local deli) instead of traditional creole cornbread. The gumbo was also laced with celery through the rice and had a thick skin on the sauce when it was placed on the table. We complained to the staff but they said the chef has been the same for the last two years. The price is definitely the same but the quality has dropped considerably. We will have to find a new restaurant for special occasions. I will not be returning to Tante Zoe's again.

Was in a group on Saturday night, they kindly allowed us to use the early bird menu even though it was around 7.30 by the time we ordered. More on the food later however the main problem I had with the place was the service. There were only 2 serving staff for the whole restaurant on a relatively busy Saturday night. In addition to normal diners we were 1 of 3 larger parties so to say they were stretched would be hugely understating it. They forgot orders and were very slow in bringing out the dishes or any extras, like drinks. That said, perhaps there were circumstances out of their control. I hope so because if this is usual I could not recommend the place at all. Food-wise the place was decent, the meat gumbo starter was excellent however the main of fish gougons and side of macaroni cheese was a little lacking in flavour. The cajun wedges on the other hand were very tasty though others at the table did think they were a bit overly spicy. The brownie dessert was extremely tasty, very much recommend if you like brownies!

I had the tiger prawns for starter….very nice, quite a lot of chilies in the dish so beware if you don’t like anything too spicy! They came served with corn bread as well which was something different for me. For main course I ordered the Curried Butternut Squash Gumbo which was full of flavour…perfect portion size and absolutely delicious. My two main criticisms would be the slow service and the prices. There was only one guy on the floor the entire night so was quite difficult to get his attention during the meal and I had to go over to him and ask for the bill after waiting for ages. Also while the food is delicious I think it’s quite overpriced…….especially considering the abundance of competition nearby!

Ate here for my birthday for the first time in a coupl of tears. Place was unusually quiet for a Saturday night but this seemed to be that case all over town on this particular night. Service was very friendly and efficient. We had some great banter with our waiter. My hubbie had the popcorn shrimp and I had fishcakes. Blackened salmon with rice for me which was gorgeous and the key lime tart for dessert was just delicious! Was lovely to revisit an old haunt and we'll definitely be back again!

Pleasant little restaurant. Myself and my husband went here early on saturday evening after being in town all day walking! I had wings for starters and my husband had the rissoles. Both were yummy. i had blackened chicken for mains and my husband had steak. We were both pleased with your food and the presentation. I would like to return to try dessert but the prices are a little high I think especially for the chicken dish.

Had a dinner here with my husband. I liked the decoration of the place, and the staff was very friendly. The service was quick enough. We started with some cocktails - I had Alabama Slammer - it was just ok, and my husband had a Bloody Mary, which was very good. For a starter I had prawns with chillies, which were delicious, and my husband had ribs, which he also liked. Oh and there was corn bread - yum, so tasty, it's more like a cake than a bread, absolutely loved it. For the main I had a seafood gumbo, which was very tasty, but the portion was far too big for me - I only had may be 1/5 of what was served. I was absolutely stuffed, but just wanted to try key lime pie, which was nice, but again I could not finish it. My husband had Mississippi mud pie (ice-cream one), which was absolutely fab. Overall the impression was very nice and we'll be definetely back again, but can I just suggest that they introduce smaller portions for those, who don't want to eat too much?

My first time at this restaurant, and it's become a new favorite! While some of the dishes are quite pricey, their Early Bird Menu - served until 7pm offers several more reasonable choices for the budget conscious. Some would say that this isn't true "New Orleans" style food, and there are a few dishes that I would agree with the assessment on. Having grown up in the deep south, however, the hot wings with blue cheese dressing, Meat Gumbo, Lula Mae Jumbalaya, and corn bread were right on to what I would have had at home in South Georgia and/or Mobile, Alabama.(Stick to your ribs, Soul FOOD!) I will also state they had hush puppies - which, at first glance I thought "these aren't hush puppies" because they were flat compared to the round nuggety goodness that I was used to. Upon the first taste, though, they were the right flavor - despite the odd pancake style look on them, so kudos on making the flavor right despite the difference in preparation. For me, this was a taste of home cooking that I'd been missing, for which the key lime pie was the absolute must have finale with a coffee. I will for sure be going back, and keeping an eye out for another Living Social or Groupon Voucher.

What it is and what it ain’t…. It’s that time of the year. Fat Tuesday was upon me and with Mardi Gras season here the palate yearns for gumbo and etouffee. To celebrate the season properly Tanta Zoe’s seemed to be the obvious choice. Therein lies the rub. What Tanta Zoe’s is not is a Cajun restaurant. The gumbos sampled didn’t hold a patch on resembling what I know gumbo to be and with regard to the shrimp creole I guarantee that Cajun/creole cooking has never experienced coconut in any form. And so, a Cajun restaurant it ain’t. The closest I can come to a classification is Afro-Caribbean/American Southern cooking. That being said, while the gumbos weren’t gumbo they were certainly flavourful and made with fresh ingredients perfectly cooked, the root vegetables used making the stews reminiscent of Jamaican dishes I’ve had. Also, if you were looking for New Orleans No. 1 cocktail, the Hurricane, Tanta Zoe’s Hurricane will beat anything on offer in the French Quarter. One more rub. If you go to the restaurant’s website it notes “Mama Cheri, (Queen of Soul Food), cooking at Tanta Zoe’s until further notice! When I asked to meet Mama Cheri, (I’m a fan), I was told that she visits on occasion and was not resident or cooking at the restaurant. What’s wrong here.

*Dear menu pages the slider for overall won't work, I would have entered 3 stars.* Went here Friday evening, went in expecting lively creole atmosphere, in fact it was dead, there was downbeat pop (katie melua) on the stereo and it didn't really pick up after that. The food was nice but overpriced. We had 1 starter, 2 mains (Jambalya), 2 deserts and 2 bottles of beer each: €85. Service were pleasant but occasionally absent. There wasn't a huge crowd in and I think this reflects the dead atmosphere & high prices.

Delicious! Myself and BF went here after work. Had the squash soup for starters and squash gumbo for mains. He had the chicken wings for starters and burger for his mains. Soup was fabulous, lovely piece of corn bread to go along with it..Main course of Gumbo was really nice, hadnt had it before and was apprehensive about the amount of spice, but it was perfect, really enjoyed it. His chicken wings caused a mess which was a great sign and burger was good s/w chunky wedges. Came to around the €60 mark, including a coke and 2 sol beers, not too bad! Definitely will return!

We came in here for a casual business dinner, with 4 persons. It was quite empty, even for a Wednesday night. We skipped the starters, but had couple of mojitos, which were great (they have a choice of different mojito tastes, like strawberry and similar, but out of strawberries that night). So we had mains – 2 jambalayas (very nice and good portions, served on the pan, sizzling hot and rally tasty), one steak (reported good) and Cajun Mussels (fresh mussels, very tasty in a great sauce). I went for their signature dessert – Mississippi Mud Pie, which was great and made me stuffed. Great service, nice place (atmosphere is probably even better when place is buzzing), good night out. I may come back again to bring my other half to the original taste of the New Orleans .

I used to come here a lot years ago so I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did because I had a very enjoyable dining experience indeed. Service was provided by two very pleasant gentlemen. For starters I had a curried butternut squash soup with corn bread whilst my companion had popcorn fish bites. We both really enjoyed our starters. For mains I chose meat loaf with mashed sweet potato. I loved my main course. My companion had fried chicken which was a huge portion and she like me loved her main too. We were rushing to see a play so we skipped deserts which was a pity as I would loved to have tried their selection. We were seated in a side dining room which was very nice. On leaving the manager thanked me for my business by name something which really impressed me. I will be returning here again very soon.

I had a mixed experience here. First the food was ideal. I had the butternut squash curry starter and a jambalaya. The flavor was huge but not over powering and with enough spice to warm you from the inside. Great on a cold wet night like the one we had that night. Unfortunately the service we got was mixed, we were seated at a small table which felt cramped even for 2 and a little awkward to eat. It didn't help being by a big group who it seemed were getting ready for a night on the town and with little regard for their volume. While the host was friendly, the waiter just went through the motions. A smile or even a bit of advice on the menu would have gone a long way. all in all I would go again and recommend that anyone give it a try. There is plenty of non-spicy food there as well so don't be scared by that and it's different to any other meal I've had in Dublin.

I went here for a leaving party and there was a big group of us. It was quite average. We chose the food from their Christmas menu which is a great price €26 for dinner but it didn’t taste anything special. The service was good and it was nice to have the table decorated with a Christmas feeling. I would still like to give Tante Zoe’s a second chance and try it another occasion and not from their set menu.

I went here with my boyfriend for his birthday on a Sunday evening so the restaurant was pretty quiet and there was only one waiter working but the service was brilliant. I cannot fault the food. It was delicious. Great set menu also if you wanted to opt for it. Will definately be returning. Recommend the Blackened Salmon and the Chocolate Brownie.

We went here last Friday at 9pm. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food tasted very authentic. The calamari starter was just OK but I really enjoyed the the Blackened Catfish with rice & beans. Would definitely re-visit! My friend had the steak and said he enjoyed it! Prices were pretty standard.

I went here for an early bird on Sunday afternoon. It was very quiet but the waiter was lovely and friendly without being in your face. I asked if i could substitute a starter off the al la carte menu for one on the EB and that was no problem. I've always loved this restaurant but there have been some subtle changes to the menu lately which actually work better then the previous dishes did. The plantation cheese log is to die for (I could eat it all day long...) and the blackened chicken was amazing and cooked to perfection. Great value for the early bird - 2 courses just €20. I will be returning again and again!!

Went here last night with 2 friends at 6.30...was very early on a tuesday so were the only people in the place. Met by a friendly waiter who was great throughout the meal. We went with a la carte menu, starters of scampi popcorn and small gumbo....both were very tasty and nice portions. Mains we had the burger, the large house gumbo (like a stew with rice pretty much with a kick) and the blackened chicken. We were all very happy with the mains and my gumbo was delicious, nice flavours throughout and the rice didnt dry it out at all...just the last 1/4 of the dish was a bit of work as with any large rice dish, get filled up quickly. Desserts i was the only one and had the mississippi pie...Make sure you keep room for this if your going...amazing! All in all great, would go back again but on a busier night, menu had unique dishes, very nicely decorated restaurant and the server was brilliant. Only fault was that we ordered a large wedges with everything but wedges already came on 2 of the dishes, so would have been nice to be warned of that, but perhaps we didnt read the menu properly. Definetely be back!

Went to Tante Zoe's after work with a friend for a quick dinner. We were the only people in the restaurant so we were seated straight away and our orders arrived quickly. I had the ostrich, which was great, and my friend had the gumbo, which she really enjoyed as well. A great spot for some deep south cooking

I and my party ate here one Wednesday evening. I had heard from a relative that this place does excellent Gumbo so naturally that was already on my menu list. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere immediately on entering and there was a good crowd there to add to the warmth. I chose the Cajun Calamari to start with, I always love Calamari and cooked in Cajun style was a first for me, I can definitely recommend this dish. I had the vegetarian gumbo for main course and while it was tasty it seemed to lack some flavour. It was not overly strong, perhaps I would have been better off ordering the meat gumbo. The cornbread however with this dish is excellent. We also ordered some cajun wedges and vegetables of the day on the side but the mains were more than enough on their own. It had to be the Mississippi mud pie for desert, 3 out of the 4 of us ordered this and the 4th ended up a little jealous, it was delicious but quite rich. Overall the food was of a good quality, not too pricy and a good option for anyone after something other than a steak for dinner.

Went to this restaurant for a change from the usual Indian/Thai etc and was pleasantly surprised. Blackened chicken was delicious and I could have eaten another mud pie as it was so delicious. Decor is nice and noice atmosphere without been too noisy. Definitely worth a visit

A lovely little restaurant on Crowe Street. Went in about 6:30 to avail of the early bird menu that I had heard good things about. Seafood gumbo for starter was very good, big chunks of fish served with a slice of cornbread (how is cornbread not more popular in Ireland??). Main was a rice and meatball dish, for which I can't remember the American name. Really good, rice well cooked served with beans and a very flavoursome sauce. my partner had a butternut squash main also from the early bird menu. This was absolutely devine, very different to what you would find on your typical Irish menu. The dessert chocies were nothing to get excited about (quite limited) so we both passed and just had a coffee. The service was excellent, however the atmosphere was a bit dead despite the place really filling up. Excellent value, €20 odd for the 2 courses

A superb Cajun/Creole restaurant. New Orleans is my favourite city in the world, but the best gumbo I've ever had was here at Tante Zoe's. Their menu changes from time to time, and I have eaten both catfish and swordfish here in the past, two of my favourite things. Eating here is always a joy - the next best thing to a night out in the French Quarter.

What a great restaurant! They have worked to create a fabulous ambience reflecting their Cajun menu, with plenty of framed posters and jazz music playing in the background. Our meal was just over €70 for the two of us (no wine), and for that price the food was near-flawless - we each had a gumbo to start, mine with meat and his with seafood (both delicious), then for mains I had a blackened catfish with coleslaw, rice and a sour cream sauce; he had a meaty jambalaya. Both were great, and though the portions were generous, we cleared our plates. The key lime pie for dessert was spectacular. I had two issues: the cornbread which came with the gumbo was a bit too sweet, and the so-called Mississippi mud pie was actually just a slab of ice cream with cream on top! But other than that it was a fantastic night out, and I would heartily recommend Tante Zoe's for a treat.

Ate here with a large group. Service was very good. I had the mussels which were delicious in a cajun sauce. For mains I had the butternut squash curry which while it was really tasty was a little on the cold side. Others had fish cakes which were also delicious. Staff are really accomodating and have no problem with you sitting over wine. Will definitly return

Myself and my sis booked for 5.30 & the place was quiet apart from a large group. It soon filled up with a few large groups, couples and family's - one waiter on duty but he was fantastic, I hope he is being paid well coz he kept the whole thing going smoothly. Anyways on to the food which also could not be faulted, the ribs really are gorgeous and my jambalaya was yummy but v filling! we booked online and ordered from the a la carte menu (3courses each) and the bottle of wine was free....happy days, will def return to try out some other dishes.

Have been to Tante Zoes before and really loved this place. Decided as a place to go to celebrate an occasion it would be ideal. The service was excellent, nothing but helpful. Great ofer of free bottle of wine when booked online. Interesting place to eat, a bit quiet the night I went but normally there is a great buzz of atmosphere. Recommended restaurant!

Tante Zoe's is one of my all time favourite restaurants in the City, I've have been multiple times and it never lets me down. I know the menu has been changed but so what a bit of change never hurt anyone!! And I love the new menu items especially the sweet potato mash it's so yummy. The old favourites are still there like the Jambalayas, blackened chick and fish but I love their Chicken Wings I think they are so tasty and the blue cheese dressing I don't know what they put in it but it's the best I've had. The desserts are to die for the Key Lime Pie is still my favourite and the staff are fantastic so helpful and always smiling no matter how busy it is.

We went here for Valentines, although the food was nice, i thought it was a bit overpriced. They also didnt seem to have any type of vegetable available only sweet potato. Overall i wasnt crazy about the meal. The best part of the meal was the dessert which was the lime pie. This was lovely. One thing i did notice was the chef was out and greet everyone and asked if they were enjoying their meal. THere are other places i would choose over going here

Ate here for the first time two weeks ago. Service was good & the food was tasty, although they suffer from the usual Irish aversion to anything remotely hot, so the spicy prawns were anything but - not what you expect from cajun food. The chilli sauce we requested to make up for the lack of spice was delicious though. On the whole it was good, but the portions are ridiculously large.

Having waited such a long time and heard so many good things about Tante Zoes we were very excited about going as were were big fans of Cajun and Creole cooking however the experience was very disappointing indeed, the decor is white and feels very cold where as i had expected a warm friendlier place. The service was very poor from the second we walked in the door, the man who showed us to our seats was very unfriendly and we waited an extremely long time for our order to be taken and drinks to be brought despite the place being only about half full. The food was average and i would very rarely leave a restaurant thinking i could have cooked a better meal, the meat balls to start were ok but the blackened chicken for mains was amazingly bland and even the accompanying vegetables was tasteless. all and all we were very disappointed and it is very overpriced for what they offer i wont rush back anytime soon.

Actually quite an disappointment. Having made reservations to celebrate a birthday we expected the promised ' nice table' and some good food. Food was actually poor, we had to ask for the offered free bottle of wine and were seated in a side room ‘ corner table’. Maybe it’s just us but having read the reviews and visited the website we only can conclude that Tante Zoe’s is promising too much. Value for money is OK though.

I was really looking forward to visiting Tante Zoe's because i've been experimenting a lot recently with Deep South cooking and love the flavours and dishes that you can create. However I have to say I was decidedly underwhelmed. Firstly the interior, while pretty and comfortable, I thought was a little too posh for the style of food that they are serving. I was expecting something a bit more colourful and a bit more relaxed. The service was very slow when we arrived, it took 20 mins from when we were seated to get our order taken, but the food did come quickly after that. I had buffalo wings to start and my friend had the Alabama Rissoles. My wings were delicious, and the Rissoles were nice, but a little unremarkable. I had Shrimp Creole for mains, which I was very disappointed by. It was very bland in taste, and the prawns still had tails on. I don't normally mind this in a relatively dry dish but because the sauce was quite thick it was very difficult and slimey trying to de-tail and I did end up chewing on one by accident. My friend had blackened chicken which was overcooked and very hard to cut. We had a side of mac'n cheese which didn't taste of anything at all and i had to add a lot of salt just to taste. We split a slice of Key Lime Pie for dessert which was fine, and as we had booked online they had a special offer of a free bottle of wine, a South African sauvignon blanc which was lovely. Disappointing overall, reasonably priced because of the free wine, but doubt I would go back.

I've been eating in Temple Bar for years now and only recently was recommended to go to Tante Zoe's. I've never been to a Cajun restaurant and was a bit sceptical about going, I needn't have been... The waiter/host greeted us just inside the door of a quaint little restaurant which we immediately liked, he was very compliant, letting us choose where we'd like to sit (it was early evening and quiet). We ordered a lovely bottle of sauvignon blanc (€19). Looking at the menu I did find it hard to choose as the have a lot of options and all are very tempting. We ate from the early bird menu (19.50 each) I order the carrot and Swede potatoes soup of the day which was mouth watering and the garnish of fig leaves was an excellent touch and my partner order the meat gumbo which was tender and extremely tasty. We ordered the catfish goujons and fish cake for mains and both were cooked to perfection and the flavours were perfect. All in all it was a fabulous meal, the service was wonderful and I will certainly recommend Tante Zoe’s to everyone

My first trip to Tante Zoe's was only last week despite it being a bit of a mainstay of Temple Bar for at least a decade and I found it reasonable enough. The restaurant itself could probably do with a bit of a facelift, as it looks a bit mid-90s. Food was unspectacular but tasty. My large portion of wings for main were really good but the mud-pie for dessert consisted of only ice-cream and no pie, very disappointing. The waiter worked very hard being the only person there despite the restaurant being so packed so fair play to him. I wouldn't rush back to Tante Zoes but i wouldn't avoid it either.

I went to Tante Zoe's yesterday with my boyfriend not realising that Momma Cherri (seen on an episode of 'The F Word') had taken over the kitchen. The menu has changed alot but unfortunately the prices haven't. I had the spare ribs to start and the southern fried chicken for mains, my boyfriend had the Alabama meatballs for starter and blackened chicken for mine. The food tasted absolutely gorgeous and the presentation was like it came from Momma Cherri's kitchen directly which made it feel homely. In fact Momma Cherri went into the kitchen herself to cook my friend chicken which was a great touch. Oh and the brownie is to die for!! The service was friendly and efficent and I had no complaints over the meal itself. My only concern is the cost which I think is way to high in this present economic climate for cooking straight from Momma's kitchen. Having said that though I will be back sooner rather than later.

Was here for lunch with a friend. I'm afraid that I had not realised that this restaurant specialises in Creol food, and I am not a great fan of Creol. However, I must not blame the restaurant for this. The place is conveniently situated just off Dame Street, has a very pleasant atmosphere, a good menu and wine list, and the service was excellent, friendly and efficient without being 'in your face'. The food was very good, even though I am not into that sort of eating, and I think that the place deserves a recommendation to anyone wanting to try out a new venue.

Another great night at Tante Zoes...I went there with 2 friends for meal and catch up and had a great night....had the rissoles to start which were delicious, sauce was light and spicy and went with the cornbread perfectly...had mamas southern fried chicken for main with sweet potato mash which was to die for..in fact i could just eaten that all night and the veg was cooked to perfection and being quite gluttonous i had the brownie for desert...we left the restaurant commenting on how great the night was as well as the food...and that definitely wasn’t just the great cocktails talking..Tante Zoes has proved time and time again why its my fav restaurant and has never let m down...my friends are hooked! :)

I visit Tante Zoes as often as possible. It is incredibly cosy for a romantic meal or a catch up with friends, the atmosphere in Tante Zoes is great since the refurbishment. There is a great range of food, i have tried nearly everything on the menu at this stage and have not once been disatisfied! Very tasty food from both the main menu and the funky starters. The staff are very friendly and really make sure every visit is as great as the next. The price of food is also very good, if your looking for a lovely meal, with a friendly atmosphere for a very reasonable price i highly recommend Tante Zoes!

I really don't understand some of the reviews below! I have been a regular of Tante Zoe's for a long time now and I think the place is still fantastic....The new management have given it a new lease of life as the place was starting to crumble a bit. The new menu items are great. We had a very enjoyable meal I had catfish goujons to start and my partner had the potato skins(filled with their famous gumbo), both where amazing. Southern Fried Chicken and Jambalayas for mains and key lime pie(I want the recipe) and brownie for dessert. All was very tasty and also the cocktails are pretty good too!! I will definitely be returning soon.

A cosy resturant with a great selection of tasty and unusual combinations of food but the service was just so slow. It's not the first time this has happened and it really takes away unnecessarily from the experience. If that could be improved upon, I would like to return with friends.

Have been a regular at Tante Zoes for about 9 years and have never had a bad meal. Lunch and early bird offers are great value. Favourites are the plantation cheese log and blackened chicken. Love the music they play too and service is usually very good. If I were to fault them, the desserts arent great and recently I went for sunday brunch and they had completely changed the menu. Our favourite - black and white pudding starter and eggs st charles were missing of the menu which is disappointing. We will however continue to return.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Dublin. I heard that it had changed owner and I hoped that the food would be of a similar quality, and that the atmosphere would remain as vibrant and lively as ever. But unfortunately, both have dis-improved beyond belief. The table service was very slow as there wasn't enough staff-and frankly they were ignorant to me and the other customers. The food was just awful-it lacked the flavour which used to have. The meat was tough and wasn't cooked the way I or any of us at the table had asked. This, now might be one of the worst restaurants in Dublin-Don't Eat here if you to have a nice meal.

Went for an early bird here as a birthday treat. The new menu is definetly not as good as it used to be prior to the new ownership. The choices are limited and the quality of the food was not as good although still ok. Catfish as an option really didnt sound great two of the party had it and were not impressed. Caesar Salad was lovely, chicken for main was defintley a little too cooked. Desserts were lovely. A good value early bird but just not the same as it used to be.

I went for 3 friends to tante Zoe and we all opted for the early-bird menu. My Caesar salad was good and I was happy to see actual anchovies in it (although quality may improve), my blackened chicken was good too but nothing special. The mississippi dessert was a massive slice of chocolate and vanilla ice-cream cake, quite yummy indeed. All other people enjoyed their food although a friend mentioned that his bbq ribs were awful. The a la carte menu looks a lot better than what it is offered in the early-bird but overall it is good value in general.

We went for an early dinner here for the first time last week. On arrival we were very warmly greated and could choose were we'd like to sit. After studying both the early bird and a la carte menu we both went for the a la carte. As a starter we shared a portion of the Alabama Rissoles (little meatballs) which we found very tasty. As the main course we both chose the Meatloaf which didn't hit the right note with my companian. A few islands of slightly undercooked beef remained. I didn't really mind as I eat my steaks rare but not everyone likes that. We didn't complain as overall the dish was well presented and tasted even better. For dessert a selection of Ice Cream and a Key LIme Pie was ordered. Both arrived promptly and were delicious.

Visited for the first time for a Christmas party with a group of 10 people. Overall we found it quite disappointing. The prawns for starter were really poor, a steak to follow which was ok, although the choice of sauces with the steaks was also very poor. Overall the waitor was very pleasant and on a positive note the cocktails are good.

My sister and her 2 daughters came up from Cork and we were heading to a concert in Olympia so booked Tante Zoes. Everyone was very impressed with early bird menu.... food was great, company great, service and ambiance. THink the staff were excellent well done and keep up the good work.Met few people later at concert that were sitting next to us also and enjoyed the restaurant so top marks and hats off to Tante Zoes

VERY POOR CHRISTMAS MENU My girlfriend brought a Group of 8 for the Christmas menu, based on her good experiences with Tante Zoes before. Unfortunately we were completely let down. Our table was beside the kitchen door and was pretty loud, as well as it being extremly dark in that corner. Our waiter was not very helpful, just wanted to take our orders and not answer any questions. We had to make all our decisions for a menu from the start. The starters were tiny. We were also told that the Steak will only be available in Medium as it was pre cooked, which is a terrible way tell people how their steak will be, when the waiter was questioned could we get it cooked a different way, he gave us an abrupt no and walked away! The mississippi mud pie came out frozen with some cream on top. And the mouse was maybe 2/3spoon fulls. While for €30 We werent expecting to wowed, but we spent a couple of hundred on wine as well, but some quality and consideration for costumers would be appreciated. I know myself and everyone else at the table will not be returning anytime soon.

Chose this restaurant for a girlie night out in town and we definitely weren't disappointed! From the moment we walked in the door the staff looked after us as if we where the only people in the restaurant! Which wasn't the case as it is Christmas Party Season. I have to say the place is looking great the new management must have given the place a face lift which was needed! But on to the food now which was fantastic thumbs up from the whole group for sure. Recommendations from my crowd where Gumbo, Mussels, Buffalo Wings, Meatloaf, Jambalayas, Cobblers and the Key Lime Pie (The Ginger Biscuit Base type thing was delicious) All round the group of 10 everyone enjoyed themselves. I would recommend the Cajun Punch also had a good kick to it :)

Ate here last night with three friends. Would not recommend Tante Zoes to anyone. Very disappointing. Totally ignored by waiting staff. Had to approach the bar to ask if we could order drinks. Ordered from early bird menu, 2 courses each. Waited 45 minutes for food to arrive, wine was drunk by the time the food arrived, noone bothered to ask if we required refills. Chicken not very "blackened". Total of 5 wedges, 6 slices of carrot and 8 green beans on the plate! Told by the waitress dessert would be free. Queried if the mississipi mud pie was available as was not on the menu we were told it was, it arrived frozen with cream on top, they gave us a total of €12 off the bill (a total of €3 each!). We left hungry and very disappointed. We will not be back. Very poor service and very poor value for money.

this used to be my favourite restaurant in dublin but not any more. over the years and it has become more and more expensive but the food was always good. we had the early bird which at €20 for 2 courses is a bit steep considering the value that is around at the moment. furthermore, the food was just half portions of what is available on the main menu so you feel cheated. the food tasted fine but didn't live up to what it used to be. the service was quick and the waitress was friendly but to keep business in this climate they need to provide much better value!

Dreadful experience. I ate here with friends last week. I had not eaten here for a few years and boy had things gone downhill!!! Service was slow to say the least and staff were unfriendly. During the course of the evening it became more and more like faulty towers when on two separate occasions staff dropped a pile of plates in the restaurant. Eventually after about 30 minutes we managed to get the waitor to take our cocktail and wine order. We ordered the house punch which at 19 euros barely filled half the volume of our very small glasses and did not seem to contain any traces of alcohol but did contain an incredible amount of ice!!. I had the meatballs to start which were disappointing due to an incredibly bland tomatoe sauce. For mains I chose the shrimp creole which used to be a firm favourite on previous visits but again it was bland, tasteless and the rice was soggy. My companions were equally disappointed and among other things we were amazed at the smallest portion of sea bass perhaps in restaurant history again topped with the blandest sauce ever encountered!! The menu was also incredibly overpriced. Definitely an experience not to be repeated if you value your taste buds!! The only positive was that the amosphere was pleasant in between the smashing of plates!! Which is a pity as to have a restaurant in Dublin offering Creole cuisine-well the possibilities are endless for an imaginative and dynamic chef.....

I graduated form college and booked a table of ten for lunch to celebrate. I chose Tante Zoes because i've eaten here twice before, I love the food and atmosphere and they were offering a great value lunch crunch menu. When we arriveed at the restaurant regular menus were given to us so i asked our waitress about the lunch crunch menu who then told me that the restaurent had been taken over by new management. I explained to her my reasons for booking with Tante Zoes and to my delight she was extreamly accomadating and allowed us to order off the old Lunch Crunch menu because I booked the table befor new management took over. The food was nice and simple, the atmosphere was perfect and the service was excellent.

I have been to this restaurant several times in the past and I was always pleased. However after last Saturday's experience I dont think that I will be returning. I recommended the location and booked a table for 4 with the possibility of a fifth for 5 pm. Only 3 were able to come. I was disappointed to fimd that the Early Bird menu advertised on the website was not available on Saturdays. The reception we received was unfriendly. The only comment the server could make was that the table was required for some other party for 7.30pm. This despite the fact that it was only 5pm, the place was practically deserted and we were not enjoying Early Bird concessions to start with!! The food and wine were delicious. We only partook of main courses. I was sorry that the experience was so shabby as I had spoken so highly about Tante Zoe's to my friends and I wanted them to have an enjoyable encounter on their first visit. with the benefit of hind sight I regret not haveing left and dined elsewhere.

I ate here on a saturday night two weeks ago with my partner. We hadn't eaten here in about a year and the place has gone downhill in our estimation since then. First impressions when we walked in the door weren't the best. The place was very busy but seemee messey. There's a small bar at the reception where you can normally get a drink. The counter was piled with empty bottles and glasses. There was also no one at the bar to offer a drink. The place seemed short staffed, the staff there were extremely rushed and seemed stressed but very polite and professional. I'm not sure about this but I think the menu was more expansive when we last ate here, there seemed to be less on offer than before, although I may be wrong. We felt the main courses were over priced for what was on offer. We had 2 meatball starters which were tasty, and ended up going for 2 burgers (!) because there wasn't much else that grabbed us, especially at the prices charged. They were quite nice. I skipped desert and my partner went for the pecan pie for desert. This was really awful; the taste and texture resembled a Bridgestone tyre. My partner's best comment about it, as she struggled to force it into herself, was "it's ok with the cream, it masks the taste". Says it all really. I had a calypso coffee instead which was very tasty and served in a sizeable coffee mug. It was so nice I ordered another and was very dissapoited to see it brought down to me in a small wine glass, about one third the size of the coffee glass. And we were charged the same price for this. The air conditioning had been switched on quite high at this stage to get people out, we kindly obliged. One other thing, and the most disappointing and disgusting thing of the night for me: I visited the gents "bathroom" where I found there was no soap in the dispenser and the hand machine wasn't working. This is truely a relection of a lazy, un-hygenic restaurant who's standards have sank to a shocking low. We won't be back.

My colleagues and I were meeting up from work and a mate wanted something different from the norm.So creole food came into mind.Having paid a visit to tante zoes a year ago, I thought I'll make another re-visit since I hadnt manage to try their specialties being jumbo and jambalaya. There was a group of 4 and 2 ordered jambalayas and 2 ordered gumbos.I must state my disappointment.Despite the fact that the gumbos tasted home cooked-portions were tiny and I had to fish around for my seafood. There were minute clams swimming around with more rice in the soup.As for desserts,I got the pecan pie which was up to mark.It was accompanied with a scoop of ice cream which was complementary. However the bill was rather alarming at e112 without alcohol.Prices have been pitched wrongly and I must comment they should be more intuitive towards the current climate.

This was my second time here in the last month and the service absolutely perfect...really friendly waiter and a lovely girl on the door. But i have to say being the only customers in the restaurant you would expect no less. Its such a pity the trade is low in this lovely little restaurant because it really impacts on the atmosphere. Otherwise good food, great cajun punch,...and fantastic value. we ate and drank for under 25 each and it wasnt an early bird. left a little wobbly and very happy. PS the jambalyah is big...a starter each and shared main was easily enough for two girls with appetites

This place is Swanky, capital S, without the astronomical swanky pricetag. Their lunch deal offers variety to the customer and one receives a proper meal, delicious and filling, for a respectable price. I would encourage diners to ask the server for a recommendation as the advice we received was topnotch, as was the service throughout. An elegant atmosphere presides, and big tables are available for a group enabling a nice catch-up lunch. Highly recommended.

Lovely little restaraunt with some really tasty treats! I Love this restaurant and have been many times, the blackened chicken is my favourite. The mains come with a selection of fresh veg and duaphanoise potates with are gorgeous! The portion sizes are good, and its very good value for money.

Cosy Cajun themed restaurant, tasty food and good service. The portions were great - I had the cheese roll to start which was delicious, then the gumbo for main course which was huge and also delicious. They also have great cocktails! Really like this place and recommend.

We went on a Sat nite and had the early bird which I have to say was great value and great food. My bf went for the doogy gumba and I had the cheese roll to start. We both loved it. Then he had the steak and I had the chicken. The chicken was amazing and we both decided the next time (as we will be back) we'd both have chicken! To get a dessert too, as part of the early bird, on a Sat nite was a bonus. We really enjoyed it - and the service was great.

Extremely overpriced for very basic food! I came here with my husband after a work mate recomended it and was very disappointed! The restaurant itself is very cosy and relaxing and the staff very friendly but, we couldn't get past the overpriced menu! My husband got the garlic and chilli prawns and at 10.50, I thought there might have been enough to share. Just as well we didn't! He got 5, exactly 5 tiny frozen prawns, not even in their shells, with two pieces of brown bread! So basically it cost two euro a Prawn! We were not told what came with the main meals, and when the vegtables and potato came out we were pleasantly surprised! But the veg was very boring, I felt like a bit of a rabbit munching through it after a while, and the potato was neither mash, nor cubbed! And had some kind of herb coating which was just nasty! I had to order a side of fries to compensate! I'm glad I checked it out, because I had heard so much about it, but would never recomend it and will not be going back! No wonder the tourists think Dublin is a rip off with restaurants like this!

After checking a few others in Temple Bar this was by far the best early bird offer we found. For only €20 each we got 3 courses I had the gumbo to start which was so tasty and spicy my partner had the calamari there was loads of it. We both had the steak which was cooked perfectly and the creole flavoured butter on top was delicious. What I loved was they bought and left the bowl of potatoes and two different different types of veg, usually places will only give you so many then take the rest away not here. There was also a choice of desert and tea/coffee. The restaurant was empty which suited us fine the staff were very friendly and left us too it but were nerby if we needed anything. Will be back especially for the early bird!

Tante Zoe's is an old favourite of mine and my boyfriends - we've been dozens of times and keep going back for the good value and nice relaxed atmosphere. The last time we visited we went for the early bird menu which is really good value for money - however the atmosphere is not quite what it used to be. When we first started going years ago, they would play proper creole music & jazz, which has now been replaced with terrible country music with a bit of Westlife thrown in for good measure - not good. The food was it's usual good standard, served with a smile. I had the calamare and spicey fish which was delicious. My boyfriend had steak which he said was perfectly cooked. I'll keep going back to Tante Zoe's - it's a gem.

This is definitely one of the best value early bird menues in Dublin. Three of us dined there. All of our meals were delicious. Absolutely no complaints about the food or service, which was excellent. One of us had already been there for lunch on a previous occasion and was raving about it. Will definitely be back.

Went for an early bird/A La Carte mix for two people. Food was very good (especially the Jambalaya) and house white wine very acceptable. What made the visit special was the service - excellent waiter who was friendly, informative but unobtrusive. The restaurant, although only three tables were taken, also didn't have that "empty" feel that you get in other restaurants in the early evening. Great value for money. I really hope this restaurant stays open as I hope to visit again.

Went for dinner here with the girlfriend on a Friday night and I was pretty disappointed. You couldnt knock the service and atmosphere though. It is a lovely restaurant that is only let down by the food. I had the meatball starter and she had the cheese roulade. The meatballs were delicious and crumbled in your mouth delightfully. The accompanying sauce was perfect too. Her cheese roulade was fine but could have done with more melba toast. If you are dining for two, share the meatballs. Ample. The mains were very disappointing. I had the Shrimp Creole which was nearly 30 euro. The shrimp was fine if not exactly caught that day. The accompanying sauce tasted like it was put on straight from a jar. Even the rice was sticky and clumpy. For what I paid, I thought this was a shambles. She had the Ostrich (never had before) and it seemed to be cooked perfectly but the sauce was tasteless. Again, for nearly 30 euro you should be getting a bit of wow factor. We shared the deep-fried ice cream which tasted like ice-cream and soggy cereal. No thanks. Wine was delicious (Semillon-Sauv Blanc) and house cocktail was OK. Wont be going back.

Myself and my boyfriend had been to Tante Zoes for lunch before and thought we'd return for the evening meal for our anniversary. For the lunch menu we had starters and we're not impressed so skipped them this time. We both had jambalaya for the main course (one vegetarian and one meat), we both loved the main course, it was absolutely delicious. For dessert I got pecan pie and my boyfriend got the dessert coctail. We were both very disappointed, the pecan pie was extremely bitter, not from dark chocolate but an off-taste as if it had been made several days previous. We would NEVER buy a coctail here again, it was €9, VERY very small and watery tasting, there was practacally no alcohol in it! Elsewhere make coctails 4 times this size for €8!!! The rose wine was very nice and service good apart from having to wait almost 25 mins for the bill. Overall it was a good evening, we would go back for the jambalya anytime but the restaurant is a bit overpriced for the small size of portions.

I loved this restaurant. I had the dooky gumbo for starters and the ostrich for mains. Both were delicious, good sized portions. The service was excellent, the waitress was attentive and very friendly. Its not exactly cheap but i think its definitely worth it for the quality of food you get. I'm dying to go back and sample more of the menu!

Went here on a Sunday evening for the early bird menu and it was fab. The choice is great and the price €23 is unbeatable. 3 courses and tea/coffee for all that is amazing. Portions are great and service is excellent. I will be recommending this place to friends and cant wait to go again. A good place to go as a group or on a romantic date. Blackened chicken is just great, and the steak is also top notch.

Have eaten here many times. The food is always good. However on the last two occasions I have found the staff a little rude. It is pretty expensive for the type of food but the alabama rissoles, duck and pecan pie are all fab. However, I would not let the moody waiting staff put you off, you are guaranteed to enjoy it. There is always a good atmosphere and a good early bird menu.

Have eaten here on a number of occasions. Food is divine especially if you like duck. Their starters too are hugely tasty and quite varied. Pecan pie will do things to your taste buds that they rarely encounter. Although one thing that lowered my opinion was on one visit there I was disappointed with the service. One of the waiters thought it would be fun to take the proverbial at any given opportunity following a request for a cocktail that wasn’t listed on the menu, and not in a friendly manner. Luckily when I went directly to the barman he was more than happy to satisfy my thirst for a Tom Collins. Clearly the waiter was in the final stages of writing his Thesis on Job Satisfaction in the Restaurant business. Due to the food being exceptionally good this hasn’t stopped me from returning were it normally would. Fortunately I haven’t encountered Basil Faulty on recent visits.

The best duck i have tasted in a long time. It was perfectly cooked, melt in the mouth. You have to try the Pecan pie, it was amazing.

This was my second (and certainly not last) time trying the lunch special which is exceptional. At just 8.50 for a huge meal it is fantastic value. Whilst I would have expected lesser quality for this, the jamalaya was fantastic. The restuarant was quite quiet, and has a lovely interior. Very highly recommended for lunch.

Amazing! I went there for lunch and it was absolutely perfect. The jambalaya was so delicious. The service was great. How can you go wrong with a huge lunch in gorgeous surroundings with a lovely atmosphere for E8.50. I know it's much more expensive in the evening but still probably worth a visit

The two of us had a really lovely experience at Tante Zoe's last night. Started with the dooky gumbo and the calamari. The calamari was a very pleasant, if unremarkable dish- nicely complimented by the parmesan shavings with which it was served. The gumbo was just delicious, hearty and flavourful. For mains, we had the fish jambalaya and the venison- both delicious. Don't be scared off by the chocolate sauce on the venison- it has a lovely delicate flavour! The jambalaya was just as good as we hoped it would be, plenty of fish and a wonderful slightly smoky flavour. The portions were very generous... could have happily shared a main course between the two us. (Though no complaints at having two main dishes! We lingered over our meal and finished off them without too many problems.) For desert, we shared the pecan pie. For all of you guys complaining about the mud pie (read the descriptions before you order!) - this is the desert for you- warm, sticky and delicious. Over the course of the meal, we drank a pitcher of the house punch between us- thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant itself has an intimate relaxing atmosphere. The service was unobtrusive and we happily lingered for many hours over our meal. Overall, a delicious, relaxing, hearty, happily down-to-earth meal- simple food done well- would definitely return again.

Had the evening Early Bird here a couple of weeks ago. Starters were the Gumbo and Cheese Roll - both were delicious. For mains we had the blackened chicken and the steak with a side of vegetables and we just had to try the hush puppies, again everything was lovely. I made a point of asking the waitress if the hush puppies were made from corn meal as an earlier reviewer had mentioned she was given ciabatta - they were the real deal, lovely fluffy corn meal puppies, one portion was way too much for the two of us even and it almost killed us to leave one on the plate! For dessert we had the Mississippi Mud Pie and the Bread Pudding - MMP was to die for and I was told that the bread pudding was just as good. Service was excellent, friendly and not too in your face, can't complain about a single thing and can't wait to go back and try the Jambalaya!

Had the €25 early bird last night. It was a bank holiday Monday so quiet, but the meal was delicious. The gumbo is indeed hearty and spicy, and the "southern style" steak was perfectly cooked. Butter-baked veg and good fried potatoes as sides. This was followed by a "chocolate cake" which consisted mainly of ice cream, but was welcome because it was lighter than the traditional cake. The wine was really something, it's a South African Cab Sauv and I can''t remember the name, but it was at the top of the full wine list (not the house wine list) and cost about €28. Overall very satisfying.

Myself and three girlfriends visited here. We went for the Early Bird Special which was great value at €23. I had the calamari to start, delicious and I also tasted some of the cheese roll starter... will be having that next time. Then I had the catch of the day, which was Sea Trout done absolutely lovely... others had steak and the pasta dish - all rave reviews. I had the sorbet to finish and others had the mud pie. Such great food and great value. Restaurant is cosy and elegantly decorated, staff are friendly and attentive. Will be going again very soon!

We enjoyed a very nice evening here with splendid food and attentative staff however slightly hyper at times:). It was well worth visiting and Tante can truly be recommended to anyone who wish to dig into very well prepared and nicely presented food. Between us we shared a bottle from Mendoza which was a good choice and worth every penny, the cheese log and risserole followed by ostrich and steak was superb altoghether. We will be back please god.

I really like Tante Zoe's especially for their early bird although it has gone down somewhat in my estimation recently. I love the dooky gumbo (very hearty winter soup) and the blackened chicken with the sides (green beans and deep fried potatoes). The dessert however leaves a lot to be desired. I concur with reviews posted here. I was there about two weeks ago and had the Mississippi mud pie which was awful. You would have needed a hammer to break it up, it was obviously just out of the freezer, it was extremely difficult to eat it and it was also full of ice. It's a pity, if it was served correctly, it could be very nice. It used to be years ago! All good, except dessert. Overall very reasonable.

Went here with my boyfriend for lunch and was very impressed. The atmosphere is classy and understated and the service was friendly but in a quiet unobtrusive way. I had potato skins to start which were lovely. The meat jambalya was the star dish though, really hearty and tasty. My boyfriend had the gumbo which he loved, and the blackened chicken for a main course which he was also very taken with. Neither of us had dessert, so I can't comment on that. The margarita's are good though. And with main courses on their credit-crunch-lunch special at just €8.95 it's really good value for money.

Best service in town for a long time - our waiter was so efficent we did not notice him at work. I am not a mad fan of Creole so my rating my be a little on the mean side. The desserts could be better and are well over priced. Excellent location for a nice romantic meal

I just love this place. I try to eat here at least every two months. The food is simply amazing. The food is quite unique for Dublin. Some times this can alienate people but anyone I've recommended this place to have come back raving about it. The stars for me are the Alabama Rissoles, the Rib Eye stake with Marchand De Vin and the Deep Fried Ice Cream. Also dont be afraid to try the Gumbo, its magic. The staff are always friendly but not in your face. Service is spot on, never to early or never too late. I've eaten here with big groups and with just my fiance and atmosphere can suit both. A seat at the upstairs window is the way to go. As for the price, I'd happily pay more for food this good.

This was my favourite restaurant in Dublin for a very long time until I realised that its acutally quite boring. Everything is average about this restaurant. We had a birthday meal last Friday night, some ordered from the early bird option and some from the a la carte. I had the fish cakes laveau - destroyed by the over abundance of sweet chili sauce liberally spread over the plate - I hate sweet chili sauce and had to move the fish cakes onto my side plate to eat them with any comfort. In fact the menu states that these are served with Hollandaise sauce, I should have complained. My friends ordered the potato skins, the plantation cheese log and the gumbo. I can definitely recommend the plantation cheese log, its really delicious. For main we ordered a mixture of the blackened chicken, fish of the day (hake) swordfish and prawns. All fine - nothing to get excited about. The side orders were lovely, especially the deep fried potatoes and the green beans and mange tout - all dripping in butter, forget about the diet! Desserts are also very very average, mississippi mud pie direct from the freezer and deep fried ice cream - which turns my stomach anyway. The wine list is a bit of a rip off, nothing particularly stands out other than the high prices. All in all, its an average restaurant, not as great as I remember it to be, but maybe that was just nostalgia. I will return, but not at all on a regular basis.

Really enjoyed the steak I had here and my partner had the veal and also loved it. Food was for the most part grand, the dessert definitely isn't worth it though. As someone else has mentioned the Mississippi Mud Pie isn't Mississippi Mud pie- it's a biscuit base with a layer of vanilla icecream and a layer of chocolate icecream. Ours had clearly been semi-defrosted and then stuck back into the freezer because it had that awful texture icecream gets when this happens- little crunchy milky shards. I'd definitely stick with mains and starters if I went back

Had the early bird here at the weekend. Very good value for money. Mains come with a selection of veg and potatoes. Desserts not the best though. I had the sorbet and it was practically melted away when it came to the table. Good selection of wines starting from €22.50. All in all good spot. And with the early bird you have the table until 8.30 so you don’t feel rushed as in some other places.

Went here for our staff night out. Starter and mains were very good but the dessert was still frozen, just like they picked the cake out if the freezer. We were served with no haste and at one time, surprising as there was about 30 of us. The only thing was that we were a bit cramped on our tables, we all had to move and shuffle if someone wanted to go to the toilet etc. Overall a very good experience.

Have been to Tante Zoes on numerous occasions for there early bird, think its unbelieveably good value and rave about it to all my friends. At this stage I've tried nearly all the options on it and have enjoyed all. Particularly like the red cabbage which comes with the mains. Staff are always very friendly. My favourite dessert is the bread pudding which I have cravings for! Don't think you can go wrong with the Early Bird for good food and great value.

Went here before a show in Vicar St. It was the worst meal we've had in a while. Firstly the wine list is very overpriced. The cheapest bottle on it is €25 and prices rise rapidly after that. Many far superior restaurants have wines starting at €19. My husband and I both chose the early bird menu. He had the calamari which were good. I had the dooki gumbo which was only ok, nothing special. Everything went downhill from there though! I had the cajun fish of the day which was hake. The fish was overcooked and tasteless. The menu stated that our dishes would be accompanied by the potatoes of the day and veg. So I asked the waiter if we could have the "potato dauphinoise" as our potato side. He said this was no problem but he then served us two types of potato and of course we were charged for the two! Highly annoying! Especially as the so called dauphinoise was chunks of boiled potatoes chucked in a dish with cream and melted cheese. This is not gratin dauphinoise so they really should change the name of this dish. The other potato dish was terrible - baby potatoes deep fried until the insides were soggy and tasteless. For dessert we ordered "Mississippi Mud Pies" Again this did not even resemble mississippi mud pie! It had a biscuit base, then a layer of vanilla icecream, then a layer of chocolate icecream then a layer of artificial cream. This restaurant should revise their dish names. Won't be going back

I went here last night with two friends for the early bird menu. We had never been there before and thought we would give it a go on the recommendation of menupages.ie. We were right to do so! When we arrived the restaurant was buzzing, it has a really great atmosphere, low lighting, great music and is well layed out. I ordered the plantation cheese log which I would strongly recommend, then the cajun steak, this was also really tasty. The cajun sauce gave it an unusual kick, which I really enjoyed! I had the sorbet which I found to be a poor choice, my friend ordered the pear and almond tart which was really the winner from the desert selection. In all the meal came to just over €100 for three people and a bottle of the house red, which again I would recommend. The service was flawless and I'll definetely be returning soon!

Just soem fo the reaons I assume this restaurant is still doing a thriving business and long may it last. Intend to visit again this weekend and looking forward to it already.

I went here for a dinner before a gig, found the menu very different. I got the Seabass with coconut lime and chilli sauce which was very tasty. The Dauphioise potatoes & veg were also delicious. The two people i was with Got the blackened chicken which I tasted and was very tasty also. Altough it was a bit pricy, the food was worth it!

Gorgeous restaurant. Had dinner here with a freind and was a little dubious it being in the tourist area of temple bar but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and lovely and I will be going back here for sure. Highly recommend it for a romantic evening or just dinner with friends.

Ate here on a busy thursday night after work. Very good atmosphere. Had shrimp popcorn for starters and a perfectly cooked steak. my partner had two starters for her main, the chilli prawns and gumbo. Altho the rice was initially missing the waitress returned back in no time with a timble of rice to finish the gumbo. excellant food here, everyone expects the Cajun/Creole flavours to be spicy and strong but they add a subtle taste to already great food.

Had lunch here on Saturday with a friend. I had the popcorn shrimp which was served with this delicous spicy/mayo sauce and chunky chips and my friend had the blackened chicken. Both were lovely! We ordered the whisky bread and butter pudding to share for dessert. I am not a fan of bread and butter pudding normally but this was an exception. It was an early lunch on Saturday and the place was nice and quiet which was contrast to the busy Chrismas rush in all the shops!

Went here for a work xmas party. Had cocktails while waiting. cosmo was delicious but unfortunately the mojitos were not-the ice wasn't crushed, they weren't made properly at all and tasted like sparling water gone wrong. Apart from that the food was delicious, the steak was cooked perfectly. The waiter was very heplful and friendly however we were completely rushed out of the place. People were still eating and they started clearing the table. Then they told us we had to start hurrying up as they had the table booked for another party. Not impressed by this at all seeing as we gave them great business and spent the guts of €1,000 there..

I'd really like to go back here and give it a proper review. Was here for christmas party so it was a set menu and because of timing we were rushed through, even the waiters removing plates not finished. Good cocktails had while waiting and very good wine selection. Had lovely crispy calamari for starter, steak for main with Marchand De Vin sauce. Dessert was very sweet and very nice. Hope to head back soon

A lot of people have said to me that this place is really good but I am not a huge fan. I think it is definitely overpriced and the choice on their menu is not great. The place has a nice atmosphere but I was expecting a lot more from the food. The starters in particular I found quite boring. On the plus side they do nice mojitos. Not my favourite anyways

I hadn't been here in years, and remembered it as being very good, but unfortunately I was v disappointed in the quality of the food the other week. Service and atmosphere was good, but that didn't make up for the food. Starters were grand, but nothing special, you could get them anywhere. My Cajun cod main course was literally swimming in the sauce. Also, the blacked Cajun steak, was not v blackened looking or Cajun tasting. Mississippi mud pie dessert actually turned out to be vanilla ice cream on a biscuit base, nice enough but defo not as described. Overpriced too.

Enjoyed my meal - wouldn't be jumping up and down about it but it was quite tasty and a little different. Good setting and service. Did not enjoy the overpriced jug of punch though, yuk!

I have eaten here on a few occasions & loved this place everytime. The blackened chicken is delicious and the rissoles & gumbo are very tasty starters. The punch is fab & quite strong! The only slight letdown would be their desserts. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Went here yesterday evening with two friends. Myself and one of my friends shared the potato skins as starter, they were nice but nothin special. I got the duck which was lovely, my friend got ostrich which was done perfectly and my other friand got swordfish which was a big dissappointment, tough and chewy. We then shared a mississippi mudpie for dessert, again was nice. We had 5 glasses of wine between us. The bill came to 140euro not including a tip so i personally found this dear for the what we got and the standard.

I love this restaurant! I've eaten here about 8 times, most recently for my birthday with my boyfriend. The food is absolutely delicious and service is great, the staff are so relaxed and friendly. But the best thing about this place is the atmosphere, it is buzzing! A definite must for all!

Overall the food here was very good I went with two friends and we had a really good time. My steak was excellent i could not fault it and i am very fussy about my steak. The only negative is that I love my desserts and i wasnt impressed with there selection at all the missisippi mud pie was just ice-cream and not very chocolately so was dissappointed with that but overall I really liked this restaurant and would definitly return.

I've been here a few times with friends and the food has always been great. The restaurant itself is lovely, its never been too packed whenever I've been as usually its for the early bird. The only thing I would say would be if you do go at a busy time it could be slightly cramped but there it fits so many people, I've seen several large groups there. We normally go for the early bird and I would normally have the same thing. The starter I get is Caesar salad which is lovely, I think it may mention that there is fish in the salad dressing which I was wary of but in my opinion it just tasted like normal Caesar dressing. For a main I always choose the Cajun steak which is lovely and comes with a selection of potatoes, mange tout and red cabbage. I've also had 2 different desserts here, the mud pie and the sorbet which were both lovely! And we normally have the rosé wine which is also nice. The early bird menu is great value so I would definitely recommend this, although I've never been there late so I'm not sure of the prices for later on in the night! Overall I would definitely recommend it, its one of my favourite restaurants!

I ate here recently with 2 friends and it is deffo my new fav restaurant in the city. We had a selection of dishes and each one was just as nice as the other. I thought the quality of the food and wine for the price we paid was fabulous. There was a great buzz in the place that Friday evening and I would definitely go back with friends. I would highly recommend this restaurant for an intimate dinner or dinner with friends.

I love this restaurant. I've eaten here on numerous occasions and have NEVER been disappointed! The jambalaya's are perfect and the gumbo is seriously tasty! if you've never been here before you should definitely go! the staff are friendly and polite. It can be expensive if you get alcohol too so maybe go for the early bird menu. it's amazing!

Tante Zoe's is an amazing restaurant with food that is very different but cooked perfectly. I would suggest Tante Zoe's Jambalaya as a main and the squid for starters. Go to their early bird special between 5.30-19.00, where three course meal is 23 €. A perfect mid week restaurant.

I love this restaurant! I've eaten here 3 times and it's been great every time, friendly and efficient service. I was with a group of 10 people once and most had steak, mine (rare) was tasty and consistant and everyone else seems to have said the same. The portions were big which is great as I eat an unusual amount of food for my build. Would definitely visit again.

Went for the early bird menu here on Friday night and was very pleasantly surprised. The service was great and the food was very tasty. We did not feel that the quality was at all compromised and we have eaten from the evening menu a few times in the past. There was not much of an atmosphere as the place was half empty when we arrived but it was beginning to pick up before we left. This is a great restaurant if you are looking for something different, I would recommend this restaurant and think that the early bird is brilliant value.

The last time I was here with my boyfriend and we loved the food, the portions were huge and I waddled home. This time I had tante Zoe’s jambalaya for main and the portion was just right. My friends had blackened salmon and a vegetarian dish. I tried the blackened Salmon and it was nice but the vegetarian dish wasn't great. My dish came with Hush puppies which are just toasted garlic ciabatta bread, altogether it was a generous meal. The wine was great and our waitress was lovely. I would recommend this restaurant but try and order what they do best - Gumbo, Jambalaya or Shrimp Creole

eaten here twice recently and enjoyed the first meal so much i had exactly the same second time around. went for the cajun calamari for starter and tante zoe's jambalaya for main. i'm a big fan of paella so i found this a nice twist. there was also lots of it. good luck fitting in a dessert! the service is also quite good and friendly. it's not cheap but definitely worth a visit for something a bit different.

Personally I think its overrated. theres good advertising of its soul food etc. but its overrated. I ate there once and it was enough food wasn't that tasty and the starter was bland and dry. The main course was overly spiced.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, nice wines and such good food. The prices are totally justified, it is not too expensive though. I have been there now quite often and -no matter how crowded the place is they always manage to serve you exquisite dishes, delicious desserts and make you have a great time! Try the Jambalayas and Gumbos!

I've been to Tante Zoes many times, its one of my favourite restaurants, which is why we chose it for a family meal for my sons 21st birthday. it was midweek, there were 6 of us.the place was half full, but i thought the food wasn't up to its usual good standard, the veg wasn't hot,i got the feeling it was ready before the mains and was left standing.what really annoyed us was the 10% service charge on parties of 6 persons or more.so we ended up giving an enforced tip for only 6 people.don't get me wrong we do tip but i think service charge on a small group(midweek) is not good policy

I went here twice on the bank holiday wkds and I was very impressed with the food. It really was amazing. We're both very hard to please where food is concerned and the food didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was lovely and service was great the 1st time. Service was a bit more haphazard the 2nd time even though it wasn't as busy but food still excellent.

We went to this restaurant twice, the first time the food was fantastic it was just before Christmas and we were lucky to get a table. I had steak and my husband had jambalaya it was fantastic with a lovely bottle of wine. We raved about this restaurant to everyone... Then we went one Friday night after work for the early bird menu and the food wasn't as good as the first time, if anyone is going I wouldn't go for the early bird menu as the waitress even agreed that they are compromising quality for price.....

Food is wonderful, if not a bit over priced. I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday as we had been here before and liked it a lot. They do a lovely sea bass which is cooked to perfection, with a lovely sauce. Be prepared to break out the wallet as the prices are a bit on the high side, but a great place to go for anniversaries or birthdays if ya want a special place

I have been to Tante Zoe's a few times in the evening so decided to try their early bird and was very disappointed the choice is very limited and had to pay extra for a steak but didn't even get to choose which sauce I had! It's a shame because until this experience I had really liked the food here.

I have had many many good nights in Tante Zoes over the last few years the food is usually very very good and the service is very good. It had been a few months since my girlfriend and myself had been there so we went last weekend. What has happened to the steak ?? The normal fillet is gone and the smaller fillet has replaced it with a very large increase in price. I believe that the steaks in tante zoes were some of the best in Dublin but now they are gone very disappointing and the price increase is very bad. Apart from this the staff are lovely and starters were very good as usual, the sides were ok, the potatoes however looked as if they had been scraped out of the bottom of the pot. I know times are hard at the moment however taking the steaks off the menu and increasing prices may not be the way to go. It will be some time before I return.

Ate here for our anniversary and the service was great, and the atmosphere was very relaxed. We had the gumbo and it was very tasty, also had the potato skins which I was a bit disappointed as they were cold but then I had the steak and it was lovely, as the cocktails were tasty as was the wine, all in all it was a very nice and memorable experience and defo going back..

I have dined in Tante Zoe's many times over the last several years, however the service has gone downhill over the last year or so. I was recently refused an ad hoc table there (during the early bird menu, while the restaurant was empty), due to how one of my friends was dressed (a hoody - hardly a crime). While it may be full during the evenings due to its lovely atmosphere and reasonable food with great portions, they could certainly do with working on staff manners.

The early bird is a great value for service... We went there last week and had as a starter the cheese platter and the calamari, both lovely and subtle, as a main we both choose the steak (which had a supplement of 1.50) but was served with a nice butter on top and enough supplements on the side. The only negative point was the coffee/tea included, was that I had to pay more to get a bag of camomille tea instead of black tea. But for sure will be back and maybe this negative point is than taken care of!

Tante Zoes is a great spot for a meal that is a little different. I thoroughly recommend the Gumbo! The atmosphere is good, the food is incredibly tasty and the service is great. Only draw back is that it is a little pricey for what you get. The trick is to always make the early bird, its excellent value.

I was so excited to try Tante Zoe's having read all the good reviews and being a huge fan and novice cook of Cajun food. To put it frankly, I was appalled. Anyone who is even remotely familiar with creole or Cajun cooking would be. The jambalaya, gumbo and maque choux were not even close to authentic and bland and tasteless to boot. I should have copped on when the fish cakes came with sweet chilli sauce instead of the traditional remoulade. I actually wanted to go into the kitchen and show someone how to cook Cajun food. It was truly dismal. Now having said all that about the food, I will say that the service was impeccable and the ambiance is nice. But if you are looking for a real taste of N'awlins, without flying across the Atlantic, head to London, because you ain't gonna find it here.

Dined here recently with a work party of 16. They had put an array of round & square tables together, so we couldn't mix and if you needed the bathroom, at least four people had to move whilst pushing the table! Apart from that, the food was fantastic. The early bird is superb value at €23. Highly recommend the gumbo! Staff were incredibly nice, starters slow to come out. Will definitely return

There's a really relaxed atmosphere at Tante Zoes. The music is nice and low (U2 to the Beach Boys) and the staff are friendly. The menu is so different and always nice to read. I had the shrimp gumbo to start - it's a fish soup. Main course was the Shrimp Creole which comes with rice - again it was lovely. Plenty of veg too. We'd pecan pie to finish. Nothing is overboard about Tante Zoes. Always worth another visit.

I was here on Saturday night. We got the 9 to 12 sitting and there was plenty of time. We arrived and there was a large crowd waiting to be seated. Food was delicious and all was cooked to perfection. The waiters were friendly but not over the top. Def would come back again.

Used to come here quite often in the Nineties, but hadn't been back in the last 5 years or so. Still a great place for food and very attentive waiters/waitresses (who replaced a cocktail which was different to the way my friend expected it, without quibbles). Like the atmosphere too, since there are tables in different rooms, so you don't feel cramped. Lovely.

Have eaten at Tante Zoe many times and always enjoy it even though the menu hasn't changed in years. It's reliable! The staff are attentive and pleasant but not OTT. Unfortunately the Cajun popcorn starter was a tad overcooked so rather than golden and crispy they were brown and a little chewy; it didn't stop us eating them all though. The ostrich meat main course was delightful & the sea bass was flaky and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The accompanying potato & veg were all tasty and nicely cooked, not at all soggy. The desserts aren't that special so you won't be missing much if you're too full to eat any more. There are cocktails & liqueurs available too to get you started or help you finish. Enjoy.

I've eaten here once before only and I find it nice, the food is unusual compared to that of every day menus, but you have a fair enough choice of food. We didn’t get that big of a starter, but I like that, I don’t like to eat too much before the main meal. I had steak with prawns and it was lovely, the steak cooked as I asked, I would have liked more prawns though. The layout looks a bit busy, but it’s got enough space, plus if you’re by the window it’s nice and bright. I would recommend Tante Zoes without a doubt.

The only Creole restaurant in Dublin and a definite must if you haven't tried it before. A very relaxed, but upbeat atmosphere pervades with some great New Orleans jazz in the background. Food is of a high standard, but a little bit on the pricey side. Staff are friendly and willing to help. A great place to bring a group of friends to start the night off.

Visited here recently and have to say it is one of my favorite restuarants. As a vegetarian i have to say even though their are only two main veggie meals they are both delicious. Had the vegetarian roulade and side salad which was fantastic. Partner had the steak cooked to perfection. I did ask if i could have a serving of their amazing red cabbage which was no problem and which i was not billed. Staff were really pleasant and the place had a lovely atmosphere. It can be expensive but the early bird menu is exceptionally good quality and we have been back many a time. Only fault i can suggest is the ice-cream cake was frozen solid and i nearly broke the plate trying to cut it. Will definitely be back

We have eaten here a good few times. food is good although the starters could be more generous. Staff are lovely and very welcoming. You are not pushed to leave like many restuarants in town. The early bird is good value. There is always a great atmosphere in here. Had a group of 20 people and we were squashed a little too close together, so if booking a big group ask to sit upstairs. However, overall always have a good night here!

Visited Tante's for Valentine's day, in the hope of seeking something different. I was utterly wrong. Stack em high, sell em cheap is not a good business model for a restaurant. I could cook better blindfolded.

I've eaten Creole Cajun cooking in the US, and this doesn't really compare. That said, it's a fair effort and still satisfying. The atmosphere is intimate and the staff are attentive and friendly. You'll get good value too, with large portion sizes. I'd return.

I ate here with a few friends and was rather disappointed. The service and atmosphere were nice, but the food was uninteresting. I had the calamari as a starter, and it was mouth-witheringly salty. (The response of the waitress was 'yeah, it's a salty dish'.) The shrimp dish, billed as an authentic Creole meal, tasted to me like prawns in Dolmio sauce, with rice. The hush puppies tasted of bread soda, but perhaps they're meant to. The bill came to €60 a head, including wine, which isn't cheap.

I love this restaurant; the food is amazing and so unusual. Its something a bit different but really tasty. I went here for a romantic meal, lunch with my mum and a birthday party. The restaurant lent itself well to each occasion the atmosphere is really cosy but not stuff. The staff were quite friendly, but not overly attentive. The food is great the dooky gumbo is amazing!

I managed to get a last min booking for 7pm Saturday night. Our table for 2 was upstairs in the corner beside a huge window overlooking the street below. This was lovely. Decor is modern & cosy. Tables are not too close together & the atmosphere was lovely. By 7.30pm all the tables were full yet it didn't feel cramped. The girl serving us was attentive and pleasant. The menu isn't overly long but I prefer that as it means they concentrate more on getting their dishes right than over stretching themselves. The Cajun popcorn was delicious (but the garnish of undressed rocket left a lot to be desired). The chili & garlic prawns with cornbread were a little bland. The mains were out of this world. I had the Tante Zoe Jambalaya- yummy! This came with garlic bread & a side salad. I prefer my garlic bread crunchy & not drenched in butter but the dressing on the salad was amazing. The Venison was a hit too. Two well sized steaks in a chocolate & red wine sauce. Unbelievably delicious. This came with buttered spinach, dauphinoise potatoes, & veg (green beans and mange tout) all cooked to perfection. Try the Hush Puppies, they are gorgeous!! We got a dessert of pecan pie which neither of us really enjoyed; it was a little too stodgy & heavy. A double espresso & an Americana finished off the meal. Both proper coffees too. Along with the meal I had 2 margaritas which at nearly €9 each, I felt were a little overpriced. But the portions are large & the food is very good quality. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who really enjoys good food, great company and a nice atmosphere.

I think it’s safe to say this restaurant earns its four star rating. It's very comfortable, lovely decor, you'll receive quality service, the prices are not unreasonable and the quality of food reflects the prices you pay. They boast an excellent wine list that I've almost completed without disappointment. When I'm in temple bar and it's a quality steak that I'm craving; I encounter a dilemma when faced with 2 choices next to eachtother! How is it possible that the two nicest steaks you’re going to find are in two restaurants that are right beside each other? I generally flip a coin and when Tante Zoes is the winner the Fillet Lafayette always pleases me no end. Keep it up Tante Zoes, I doubt you've ever disappointed your customers; so many other restaurants should take a leaf out of your book!

A very large group of 20 ate in Tante Zoes on Friday nite; I had heard a lot of good things about the restaurant so I was very much looking forward to eating there. I had the Salad to start and Petit Fillet for my main course, the food was excellent, very delicious and very well presented. The staff were great and the wine flowed all nite, a very pleasant evening had by all which is rare when such a larger group of people go out together, we were very pleased.

This is a good spot for a group meal if you are not in a major rush. To be fair, when booking, we were asked to take a slightly later sitting, simply to take pressure off the kitchen because of the numbers already booked for the night (120!)- A reasonable request. If you do find yourself waiting, a few cocktails help to pass the time away! Starters arrived reasonably quickly and all were well received. There was a bit of a wait for the mains, but it does allow a bit of breathing space ahead of the mains which whilst not being spectacular, were satisfying and were accompanied by generous portions of green beans, red cabbage, chips and potatoes. Several of us had steak and whilst mine was a perfectly cooked medium rare, the quality of the meat was just slightly below what I expected for the price. But this was a minor quibble for an otherwise good solid 4 star meal which I thought was a decent showing, considering the numbers being served. Service was pleasant throughout and I honestly think any wait you experience is down to the sheer pressure on the kitchen. A return visit is likely.

Was here for the office Christmas party. They messed up on the amount of table space required and the group was split between two floors, on top of this the food took well over an hour to arrive. In fairness though there were a lot of people in the group and when the food did arrive it was fantastic, I would go back, just not in a large group.

The food here is delicious, the only criticism I would have is that it wasn't very hot coming to the table - the service was speedy so I can't understand how the food could possibly have been less than hot if it was freshly cooked, but will certainly be going back to give it another try regardless. The atmosphere and service were both excellent.

One of our favourite restaurants but one we hadn't visited in a while. Food as usual was really good. My wife had cajun popcorn again which was really tasty though slightly smaller portions. I was slightly disappointed at my calamari though more because I thought it was something like the shrimp. Steak was really tasty and sides were nice though only one small portion of chips was brought for the table between 3. Will definitely be back sooner

I was lucky enough to secure what I think was a late booking on the n'th hour before Valentines day but, once again, this restaurant does not fail to impress. To cut through the verbosity and get straight to the point, the food was great, the service was great, and the nice glass of bubbly which accompanied the menus was well received. Food arrived well on time and was delicious and the fact that the staff were actually down-to-earth enough to have a laugh was a bonus. I also welcomed the fact that it was not crammed to bursting-point like some of the other chophouses myself and my significant other passed by on the way home. Only downside is that I wish they'd make their sign outside the door a scintilla bigger because all those Temple Bar sidestreets seem labyrinthine at times and trying to find the right turnoff after the boulevard of barf (Temple Bar central square) can be taxing.

I was here with a party of 4 one monday evening and we ate from the early bird menu. I had the cheese log to start and steak for my main - it was absolutely fabulous and great value too. We were allowed to take as much time as we wanted to eat and to stay and chat afterwards. The service was excellent and I will definitely go back.

I went here on the 31st of January for the early bird. It was great value and the food was gorgeous. I had the cheese log for starter and it was nice. There could have been more bread with it though. I had the chicken for maincourse and it was divine! I had the mud pie for dessert and even though it was not a mud pie, it was more like ice cream, it was nice.

Opted for the blackened chicken the last time I visited Tante Zoes. It was really good, spicy coating and tender whitemeat on the inside. The accompanying veg was mange-tout and a really tasty pickled red cabbage. The was they transform a crunchy colourful yet mundane vegetable into a wonderful zesty taste explosion is quite an achievement. I'll never look at red cabbage in the same way again. I like the Starter menu here and had the prawn popcorn, which was salty and delicious. Upon leaving I went to book a table for Valentines night for a romantic meal with herself but was disappointed to see a restricted menu on offer for the night and a sizeable price hike - €45 per person for a 3 course without wine (they'll tell ya it's a four course meal but tea/coffee isn't a course in a meal). We'd normally have 3 courses and a bottle of wine for €90. That's a bit mean in my book. Surely restaurants make enough moneyuy on Valentines night without upping their prices. If Cupid heard this he'd fall from his tree and impale himself on his arrow.

Ate here twice, last nov and then again with a christmas party. Its a nice place. I like the atmosphere. Cheese log is delicious. Mains are lovely too, just don't like the way the same veg is served with every main. It makes it feel like a carvery!Still though it's worth trying. The whiskey bread pudding is lovely for dessert. Its not cheap but it's worth a visit even for cheese log!

Nothing very exciting about the food but a good place to bring a group as there is something to please everyone. and being in Temple Bar, they are used to serving large groups. The early bird is good value- might be an idea for a hen or stag night.

Ate here a couple of weeks ago. It was a busy night and our table felt like it was in the way to be honest. But apart from the slightly uncomfortable seating arrangement, I found the restaurant to be a lovely place to dine. Thought the food was delicious (steak cooked perfectly to order), personally didn’t have room for dessert but I think this indicates that it is good value for money (or that I eat too much). Would definitely go back.

REALLY DISAPPOINTED!!!! I booked our annual christmas eve family lunch here this year, and it was so disappointing. I really felt they were using up the leftovers from the kitchen before the holidays, the food was awful. I've eaten here several times before and it's usually good. The set menu was very limited in choice, and the quality of the food was poor. At least we were all in good christmas spirits! The starters were nice enough, only a choice of four. The soup was delicious, but the bread was not homemade and could have been fresher. I'd imagine someone ran around to the shop to buy some stale soda bread! The kalamari were good, nice and crispy, but the sweet chilli sauce was straight from a bottle and had that processed taste about it. The mains were a disaster, and in particular the offering of 'seasonal potatoes and veg' were almost offensive. The only thing on offer were chips, and bad ones at that. The veg consisted of mange tout and French beans (alright). The steak was ok, one arrived overcooked and was sent back, but the sauce was once again like something from a packet, salty and processed yuk yuk yuk. I could have made nicer sauce myself!!! (believe me it would not have been difficult) The cod was dreadful. In the staff's defence I have to say the service was good and the staff welcoming and pleasant. The lunch menu offered little from their regular menu - I was looking forward to maybe some Louisiana crab cakes? some jambalaya? or some gumbo? but they were nowhere to be seen. Why change from a Creole restaurant in December to a mediocre set menu of steak, chicken, cod and vegetarian? Not feeling in the mood to complain and dampen the Christmas spirit I have left my rant solely for the benefit of Menupages!!!! I hope someone from Tante Zoe has a read.....

Like the last reviewer, we were here for a christmas party and were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food (especially given the large number in our party and in the restaurant). The cheese log was tasty, the calamari was a small portion but also well received, the steak was beautifully cooked and the sides were tasty and plentiful. The Mud Pie was disappointingly frozen and the lemon tart was poor but the memory of the steak got us through!!

We were there last night for our xmas do, it was part of a package with the laughter lounge. So it was a set menu. The carrot and coconut soup and cheese log got the thumbs up, I had calamari it was cooked well, nice and crispy. For my main I went for steak, it was beautifully cooked inside(medium) but to look at it you would think it was cremated. The fish dish was a bit small but nice and the blackened chicken was lovely. Our sides were garlic potatoes, chips, red cabbage and green veg. Everyone was very happy with the meal the only thing I would say is that it wasnt piping hot when the food came out.

The experience I had here was overall pretty unremarkable. The food was fairly bland-I had the jambalaya which was very disappointing. My partner had the venison as he was intrigued by the chocolate sauce but found this rather bland also. The highlight of the evening was probably dessert-I had the Baileys milkshake my partner had the chocolate icecream dessert. I would neither advise someone to eat here or eat here again as I believe there are a lot more places in the same price bracket which deliver tastier more inspiring food.

A solid two star review - unremarkable restaurant with little or no atmosphere, the food is harsh on the palate and stomach, to be honest the best thing about Tante Zoë’s is their frankly lethal punch. Our Saturday evening group outing was disappointing to say the very least.

Was here on Sunday afternoon and there were not too many people around, so service was good and quite quick (but not too quick)! Starters were a little disappointing - I had the fish cakes which were okay and my friend had chicken popcorn - not dissimilar to what you might get in KFC (though not at KFC prices! However, the main courses really made up for a lack lustre start. I had Steak Lafayette with pepper sauce and it was absolutely superb! You may say that it's difficult to get steak wrong, but this was the nicest steak I've had in a long time. Cooked exactly as you like with just enough to satisfy (and leave room for dessert - the obligatory Mississippi Mud Pie)! I have eaten here on several occasions over the years and I have always had a positive experience. Will be back soon and hopefully the starters will have improved somewhat.

Was brought here by a friend, without reservations, but was promptly shown to a table. Ambience was ok, not to my liking: the furniture and decor speaks nothing Creoleoan, let alone French-influenced. But the service was tip-top and the food, simply divine! I had the Plantation Cheese, which was recommended by the waiter, was just right and most of all, sumptuous. Had the blackened chicken and I was expecting a burnt chicken, but to prove I know nothing about food, it was everything but burnt. I also had a taster of a friend's Jambalaya - perfectly spiced! All in all, a great dining experience!

I've eaten here twice and enjoyed it both times. The first time I overdid it on their delicious Long Island Ice Tea and so had to return a week later to confirm to myself it was as good as I remembered. The menu has encouraged me to try out new things like the veal and calamari which I had never had before but thoroughly enjoyed and I'll be trying the ostrich next time I'm there. The service is very laid back and friendly, there is no rushing to get out before the next time slot comes in and on the first occasion we were half an hour late and treated very well nonetheless. I like this restaurant and will be back.

Fab food, fun atmosphere. Ate here on Fri night at 7pm and was really glad I booked a table. The food was excellent - no starters ordered, but 1 jambalaya, 1 veggie roulade and 1 fish dish were all thoroughly enjoyed. The vegetable accompaniments were delicious (red cabbage, green beans/mange-tout and potato dauphinois). Only one of us could manage a pudding, but that was excllent too. Wine very good and not too pricey. All-in-all, a very lively and enjoyable restaurant serving great food with friendly, helpful staff.

Had booked a table for five at 7.30pm on a Saturday but were left sitting waiting for 20 mins before the table was ready. Had the plantation log to start which was not what I expected at all but was very nice. I had a fillet steak for my main which was excellent. Two of our party had the ostrich, which was ok, but the venison was apparently a bit of a disappointment. The desserts all went down well with the bread pudding a big hit. E265 for three courses each and two bottles of wine was decent value, Overall good, but not great..

Having been here on business once before, took some friends from England on a Saturday night. With little notice I was able to bring forward my reservation even though the restaurant was quite busy. The staff attitude and quality of the food are the making of this place. We had the Cheese Log for starters to share, and blackened Salmon and Chicken respectively for main, cooked to perfection. Our friends had prawn in garlic & chilli starters and steaks for main, again highly recommended. Mark up on the wine was reasonable, with a decent quality Savignon Blanc for eur 21. The helpfulness of the staff, and their willingness to assist makes a refreshing change in Dublin, and fully deserve the healthy tip we left. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, and excellent value for money

I have been here on several occasions with work and close friends and I have always enjoyed the food. There is a fantastic selection of dishes to die for and the tables are well decorated with fantastic lighting and some great backround music. For a fun night with friends or a special occasion Tante Zoes has something to offer everyone.

Average enough restaurant. Went with the other half and found it to be ok. Had Caesar salad to start with jumbo prawns which was nice and seafood jambalaya for main. There wasn't enough seafood to be honest and was very filling. All around a good visit and good service but wouldn't be in a rush back.

From the reviews here I had high expectations, but unfortunately was disappointed. Popped in last night, we were in time for the early bird so ordered from that. My friend had Plantation Cheese and that was very tasty, although the garnish looked half dead. I went with the Cajun Calamari and have to admit it was just ok, the dip was very stodgy and a non-entity. The wedge of lemon was tiny and practically dried out. We ordered the steaks for the main. The steaks have an additional 1.50 euro charge on the early bird, so we were hoping they were good. Unfortunately very fatty and very grisly, made the extra charge a bit hard to swallow. The veg tasted like it had been re-heated but potatoes were nice. Desserts, the mud pie was still icy and watery although my bread pudding was nice. Service was friendly although we did get a pineapple juice instead of orange juice. Won't be back in a hurry.

This has to be Dublin's best kept secret. The service is fantastic, food is so amazing and such good value for money. I have never been disappointed here. I have never been able to eat steak anywhere else since being here. Highly recommended (out of the dishes I've had) : Fish cakes, Fillet Steak, Jambalaya (unbelievable). A must for anybody.

Was at Tante Zoes with a work do recently. The food was divine. Great seafood on the menu, lots of choice for vegetarians, wahoo. I had the blackened salmon & tasted my friends risotto, both were divine. Excellent service from our waiter, a brilliant night had by all. Even the late-comers who only treated themselves to yummy desserts.

I was here lately with a group of friends, some of whom had eaten here before, the rest hadn't, including me. The place itself is lovely, nice decor and atmosphere. The food was amazing, everyone loved everything they ate and drank. We had a few bottles of one of the house whites, and it was a really nice wine. The staff were friendly and efficient. Overall, it was a very nice place to eat, with very good food. I'll definitely be recommending Tante Zoes and going back here myself again!

I went to Tante Zoes for the first time a few days ago and it wasn't what I expected. The food was gorgeous, prices reasonable but the atmosphere a little more stuffy than I would expect. All in all though a nice formal restaurant for wining and dining.

Nice comfy enough restaurant. Brought the family here and had the early bird menu. Not a great choice but good enough. The food was very tasty, portions a little small but not too bad considering it was early bird. Good service and atmosphere. Would recommend and will definitely return!

Love this restaurant. Went for a graduation meal and had a brilliant night. The plantation log (a cheese and garlic pate type dish served with Melba toast) is fabulous and I can't get enough of the Lou Lou Mae jambalaya. The others with me had seafood gumbo, vegetable strudle and steak and each dish was 5/5! Bit pricey to always be going but it's great for a special occasion. The atmosphere is great: the lighting is low and old blues play softly in the background. They have a huge list of cocktails for after the food! A definite recommendation!

A very nice Creole restaurant, I had a fish gumbo which was just the right level of spicy. It is a little cramped but that kind of added to the atmosphere. The downside was that it was a bit pricey

I have eaten here on a number of occasions. Mostly early bird - 3 course & Coffee for €23. Really Good value. Menu is quite varied but doesn't change very often so a tad one dimensional. Plantation log (cheese rolled in chilli powder) & Caesar Salad both tasty options. Blackened chicken on main course is very tasty. Served with veg & potatoes. I Recommend! Laid back atmosphere. Dark with blues/Cajun music playing in background. Staff are very friendly & don't rush you. Nice for a group & if going to theatre/concert/cinema superb value for early bird. Food not amazing but good portions & tasty.

Ate here last week on a work night out. From the beginning we felt quite rushed as the hostess kept reminding us that we were under time pressure! Our table was quite cramped and if anyone needed to leave the table everyone had to stand up. I ordered the fish cakes to start. They arrived looking quite burnt but not crisp, like they had been kept warm for a while. They didn't taste particularly fresh either. The bed of rocket they were served on was very wilted from the heat. For mains I the swordfish. It arrived with the sauce on top of the fish. There was a skin on it suggesting that it too had been kept warm for some time. The sides were quite good, chips, garlic potatoes, red cabbage and green beans. The chips were slightly burnt though. None of us had deserts. The service was very good from the waiting staff but the hostess wasn't great. None of us had deserts so can't comment on those. I don't think they are used to serving groups as big as ours so maybe that was the problem, but I wasn't impressed and neither were most of my colleagues. Probably won't be back.

I was here last Monday for dinner at the end of the bank holiday. We were just planning on dinner and heading home, which was lucky since the waiter spilled a bottle of wine all over me! Since the shirt was inexpensive and we were homeward bound after dinner, I wasn’t too bothered. The waiter and manager were sincerely apologetic and I was offered cash for dry cleaning and a replacement shirt. I didn’t accept on the basis that a: it was an accident, b: it was a cheap shirt and c: we were not going out afterwards. But moving onto the food...it was good. Both of us had the cheese log for a starter; it’s all we have ever ordered so I couldn’t comment on any other starter. I had the duck for main course, which came with a lot of side vegetables, (maybe too many) but the duck was gorgeous. My partner had another starter for a main course, the chicken popcorn, which she assured me was big enough to be a main course. The food here is always consistent. All drinks were removed from our bill as a sign of good gesture, and we all went home happy. I will at some point be back again.

Having heard a lot about Tante Zoes from friends who really enjoyed it, we decided to head there for a bit of a treat last night. We were in time for the set menu, which really is great value. These log, as mentioned before in these reviews, was indeed fabulous, as was the gumbo. Mmm.... both of us had steaks, at which my partner was overjoyed to discover a restaurant who cooked them rare, apparently a rare quality in itself these days! Both steaks were cooked to perfection the way we ordered. The potatoes accompanying them were really delicious. The only let down, I felt, were the desserts. I had the selection of sorbet, and frankly while they tasted lovely, I had to wait a good 10 minutes for them to melt down to the correct sorbet consistency- they were absolutely rock hard when they were served to me. The service was absolutely impeccable, and we left feeling like we had been treated extremely well! All in all, one of the best places I have eaten in Dublin in a long time.

We went there last Saturday my husband and I for our 1st anniversary and the evening was wonderful. We’ve never been in a Creole restaurant so we just wanted to try and honestly we were not disappointed: - Food was great, tasty and generous - Atmosphere: Cosy, musical and divine - Staff: friendly, helpful and great Sure we will come back soon … we have just regret we did not try the Jambalaya … that looked great and very Miam ? I definitely recommend it, it’s worth it!

My favourite restaurant in Dublin! The food is great, and I've always been so full I've never made it to dessert. Owing to its popularity, it's sometimes hard to get a table, but well worth the wait. Dimly-lit and atmospheric, it's great for a romantic meal - the one criticism I'd have is that the place is always way too warm! Try the jambalaya, it comes served in the pan and will fill the hungriest of diners.

Being a smoker, I had lost count of the number of times I had stood outside the Foggy Dew and sauntered across the lane to look at the menu for Tante Zoes, which had always interested me. So, when in a bind about where to eat one Thursday evening, the girlfriend and I decided on Tante Zoes to once and for all have an opinion on the place. We were not disappointed. In fact, the overall dining experience was one of the most enjoyable I've had in ages. We both started with the Cheese Log, which was sublime. I couldn't remember the last time food made me smile. Such fun! We were washing this down with a jug of what seemed like Deep South punch. Top stuff - and strong too. She was chuffed with a veggie option, and I went (rather unadventurously I admit) with the Blackened Chicken. Both got the thumbs up, though if I was to pick a fault it's that my chicken (and the accompanying sauce) definitely had a feeling of assembly line cooking, there was a slight skin on the sauce. Accompanying these were a substantial, dense salads, and vegetables covered in warm butter. I'd take them in the cinema over buttered popcorn frankly. The desserts are so sinfully rich you won't even believe it. The Deep-fried ice cream and Mud Pie that we devoured brought forth audible sounds of delight. To top it all off we had two pleasant espressos (on the house), and a charming waitress to boot - take a bow blondie. For a thoroughly enjoyable hour and a half we were charged €80, including 12.5% tip. My advice? Go.

I love this place. While the menu never changes and there are no specials you can take comfort in the fact they know what works, and do it well. The portions are good and the wine list is exactly what you want, big enough to suit everyone with out being over whelming. I would recommend the Cheese log to start, and then the Surf and Turf. Pricy but worth it!

I hadn't been to Zoe's for a long time .. probably 8 years, and I had been disappointed all that time ago, but this time was different. The food was fantastic. The service was fantastic. My friend and I had Jambalaya and Gumbo. I had a chicken dish for a main, which was fantastic. We ate in silence because the taste was fantastic. The price was medium but the value was exceptional. I'll be back soon.

Have only been here twice but I intend to rectify that very soon. On both occasions the food was excellent and the wine to die for. A tad pricey but to be fair it's worth it. Staff very friendly and the decor are cool.

I went out to eat here with my other half. We were looking for something a bit different than you're usual fare. Although, I had heard Tante Zoes has gone downhill I thought we'd give it a try. We were very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was lovely, the tables weren't too close together (a pet hate of mine) but it was still cosy enough for a romantic meal out. The food was delicious and served in generous portions. My boyfriend had the Jambalaya, which was tasty and huge. The very nice waitress even wrapped up and food that was left for us... without batting an eyelid. We had three courses each and a jug of punch (made with Southern Comfort... yum!) and it came to about €90. Not too bad at all! Will definitely go back again.

I can't fault this restaurant at all. Nice to be able to sit in the bar area & have a drink while you wait for others to arrive. Service was attentive. Food (Blackened Salmon - A darne of salmon seasoned with Cajun spices, blackened and served with a meuniere sauce) was absolutely gorgeous! I was torn between the salmon & the chicken another member of my party had the chicken - it smelt & tasted delicious. Definitely worth a return visit!

I first visited Tante Zoes for a work Christmas party; it was so good we went back there again the next year. Their food was delicious. It’s very popular for large groups at any time of the year so the noise levels can be high but it’s worth it. I’ve introduced many friends to it since and they cant praise it highly enough. The only problem I would have is the lack of choice for that one friend who comes along and isn’t a great fan of spicy foods. Having something else there might just make it easier to bring the picky person along.

Saturday evening myself a few friends were looking for somewhere decent to eat, one of them had eaten here before and we went and had a gander. The food read great from the menu, so we went in. First of all, the place looks great, not too fancy, but not too shabby either. The waiter was excellent and looked after us all the way through the meal. The food came quickly and when it came, I was flabbergasted! I had ordered the Tante Zoe Jambalaya - which is basically Creole version of Spanish Paella - but it was perfect, the rice and fish mixed in really well. My friends had gone for the Ostrich Steak, which I tried, and it was great, my other friend went for the steak, which was also gorgeous and cooked to perfection as requested. I have nothing bad to say about Tante Zoes, I will definitely head back here for some top quality food.

I had my first visit here on Saturday night and had read the other reviews on here first, so I was steeling myself for some bad service but delicious food. We had the nicest waiters ever. They were fantastic, attentive, jovial and quick. I had the meatballs to start and my companion had the cheese roll, both of which appeared very quickly and were eaten just as quickly. We then both had a chicken Caesar salad which was very filling and tasty. This was washed down with two jugs of their lethal punch, which made walking back down the stairs a wobbly affair. At €86 for two starters, two mains and two jugs of punch I thought it was excellent value and can't wait to go back. I think next time I'll try the Gumbo!

Pricey for what you get which in my case was a chicken dish smothered in too spicy sauce..really not worth the money! The waitress seemed bored and barely glanced at us..

Tante Zoe's was a real treat. I had the Alabama Rissoles for a starter, very unique and scrumptious. The service was fast and friendly. We all had drinks, starters and mains, and found the price surprisingly reasonable. The only criticism I would have is that our table was downstairs, and the chairs were backing on to each other making it difficult to get in and out of the seat, especially for me since I am pregnant. Other than that small detail, I would highly recommend it.

One of my favourite restaurants in the city centre. I have brought friends and family here and they have all been v impressed. The food is delicious particularly the vegetarian Jambalaya which is enormous. Last time I went I had Sea Bass with lime coconut and chilli sauce and it was lovely. Really recommend this place if u are looking for a tasty meal and the prices are reasonable.

Tante Zoe's isn't the kind of place you'll sit in for 3 hours over a bottle of wine and a slow meal but is a great start to a night out and popular for groups as well as small parties of 2-4. I've been here several times- as part of a group or when there was just two of us and really enjoyed the food. The service can be a bit hit-or-miss, some of the wait staff are downright surly, but the food is very good. Decent portions with generous sides. The shellfish, in particular, is well worth trying. The atmosphere is good- small groups at ground-level and larger parties downstairs. Tables are well spaced so ideal for conversation. The early-bird special is excellent- 3 courses for €23. Overall, would recommend.

Top class, everything was perfect. They moved us to a quieter table, due to a hen party being beside us. The food was excellent, and reasonably priced. One of the most enjoyable meals I have had in Dublin.

We ended up at Tante Zoes by accident. I have wanted to try it for a while, but find the food on the expensive side. Now we where there at early bird time (5.30-7) and got a three course menu with coffee or tea for 23 euro, which is very good value. The service was a bit inattentive and we felt all courses were brought to the table too quickly, almost as to get rid of us. The atmosphere was a bit posh for creole food, not very relaxed and comfortable. We ate deep fried calamari for starters (a bit boring, just the calamari and a dip, no salad), grilled hake for mains (delicious, served with herb butter and with plenty of sides, the potatoes were perfect), mud pie and bread pudding for dessert (nothing special). I might go again and try a jambalaya or something more exotic!

I really enjoyed eating at Tante Zoes! The food was excellent - Cajun Popcorn and Lou Mae Jambalaya. If you decide to get the Jambalaya I'd advise on getting it for 2 people as it's a massive dish and you'd do well to clean your plate. I went to Tante Zoes on a hot day and their Air Con wasn't the greatest so beware.

I've been here twice recently and was pleased that it still lives up to the good name it had a couple of years ago when I used to come quite regularly. I took my mother a couple of months ago when I was visiting and she was impressed which says a lot when you know how mums can be, i.e. very critical. We had both a starter and main course each. We had fish for starters and duck and chicken for mains. They were delicious and the waitress was friendly and chatty. The ambiance was great and we had a lovely evening. Last weekend, I went again with a group of friends (4). We ended up spending the whole night there, relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. We had a selection of starters and a main each followed, of course, by desserts. This gave us a real feel for the variety of the menu and we had great fun sampling everything. With the good wine, topped up by the attentive and good-humoured waitress, we had a thoroughly enjoyable night. Excellent food, excellent ambiance, excellent value.

I've only eaten here twice and both times I did not have anything good to say about the place when I left. The first time was Valentine's night and I put the bad food and service down to the crowds and the want of a high turnover by the waiting staff. I wanted to visit again as I have heard good reviews about the food and service. I ate here about two weeks ago with a friend, and while the food was excellent, our waitress was extremely rude and sarcastic, which made the whole experience awful.

I had lunch here with a friend recently. I had been really looking forward to trying this place and I was impressed. The food was top notch and I would strongly recommend the mud pie dessert for those of you with a sweet tooth! However it was so quiet as it was lunchtime, I think this place would be more enjoyable at night definitely as its very dark inside. The service was prompt albeit not too friendly? The prices were a little steep I thought particularly for lunch, I reckon the lunch menu is the same as the evening menu, which is a little disappointing. Overall I would recommend Tante Zoes to everyone but I don't think I will be returning very soon as I wasn’t mad about the interior and there was no real buzz, would not recommend it for lunch particularly if you have to get back to work afterwards as I felt like falling asleep soon after!

This has been one of my favourite eateries for many years, but sadly it has lost that place. The prices consistently increase while the service declines. They have got two orders wrong in my last two trips. That's OK as they were both Fridays and very busy, but if you are going to expand and be a bigger place/have more turnover than either reduce prices or increase staff/service.

I'm a big fan of this restaurant. I have been there many times over the years and went again recently after a long absence, and it was just as good as ever. I love the Cajun popcorn and the Tante Zoe's jambalaya. It has a lovely warm, buzzy atmosphere (though it's best if you're seated in the front room downstairs). A great place for a celebration - especially as they haven't succumbed to the 'two sittings' policy that so many city centre restaurants have nowadays.

I really enjoyed this restaurant every time I’ve been, I like the atmosphere and the food is tasty...esp the plantation cheese log, yummy. There’s something about the place I like and I’ve been a few times. A little bit pricey but its Temple Bar so it’s to be accepted I guess.

Zoes is a lovely little restaurant with friendly, helpful staff, a delicious menu and a really nice wine list. Their Cajun popcorn is absolutely delicious and their blackened chicken is out of this world. I haven't been in quite some time, but just writing this makes me want to go there right now!

I have eaten here a couple of times with work. I quite like the style of food, Creole is very tasty! But each time I have gone I have been disappointed by either under or overcooked vegetables. The fillet of beef is however extremely good! The atmospheric surroundings undoubtedly lend a sense of occasion.

Went here for a Birthday dinner a few weeks ago with a friend. I have to say we both really really enjoyed every minute of it though. The food was just amazing. The only thing I can complain about it that the tables are very close together. We were nearly sitting up on top of the couple beside us.

We went to Tante Zoes on Saturday night; there were ten people in our group. We were made welcome the moment we arrived and everything went well except the service, it was so slow. Three different tables, who were seated after us, were served before us and got their bill promptly. That was the only problem otherwise it was brilliant. Food was lovely and great value. One of the members of our group had deep fried ice cream and loved it! Menu was great. It was just a shame about the service!

A really enjoyable evening had by all! Must say was very happy with a recent evening spent at Tante Zoes, not the first time I have eaten there but this was with a larger group and everything was spot on. Everybody in the party enjoyed the meal and service was very pleasant. Can’t wait for our next night out!

Not a place I want to return to. Service was slow. Staff were careless in serving us so they spilled two dishes on the floor then brought out the meal again 30 mins after everyone else had finished their meal. Portions were tiny too. All in all the only thing I was impressed with was the fact I could have a JD and coke while waiting on my meal to arrive - you cant go wrong with that!

I have to disagree with every other comment included on this website and I dare the controls of same to publish my comments. I and my wife are very familar with many restaurants in Dublin and have eaten out in many of same. Now that we have two small children we usually take care in where we eat as all to often in this town the quality of food has fallen dramically and to this point Tanta Zoes is no exception. My wife and I where out in town two Satursday ago, we decided to go to Tanta Zoes as many other restaurants whre full. Firstly I would complemented the waiting staff very pleasent and helpful. But that is as far as the complments go I am afraid. The food was simply AWFUL !!!. Over cook cold and way over priced. I can assure I don't mind spending money on quality but I do mind spending money on what was alround a very disapointing experience. I generally do not waste my time detailing my experiences on the internet, but I do hope people read this comment and perhaps more of same from people will change the mind set of people in this trade to start thinking more and quality and less about profit and quantity of people through the door each evening. I will be very keen to see if this comment gets published.

Myself and my husband decided to take my in laws for a meal for Mother's Day in Tante Zoes. I was a bit apprehensive as we would normally go to a pub for Sunday lunch but all that went out the window once we had arrived thru the door of this fine establishment. There were 8 people in our group.2 of which were children. We had decided to go for the set menu, which was very reasonably priced@28 euros each. The waiter we had, I think his name was Charlie was so professional in all manner of ways. He made us feel relaxed and at ease. Absolutely fantastic when it came to the children. We asked him about a kiddies menu which he said was no problem. The kids decided to have food of the set menu. The menu was varied with dishes that I probably would never have tried but I have to say along with the rest of my party that the food and service were out of this world. You come away from the table feeling well fed but not to full. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENTif you haven’t been there what in gods name is stopping you!!!!!!!

My visit to Tante Zoes was not especially enjoyable. I did not find the food in any way remarkable my chicken gumbo consisting of overcooked chicken and sporadic seasoning. If you're into Creole food, I'm sure this place will provide an interesting diversion - possibly more than once. For me however, the general quality and standard would not entice me back again.

For anyone who has never tried, or who loves Creole food, this is most certainly worth a visit. It has a resonance with upscale restaurants in Louisiana with only two differences - both of which are possibly cultural. Iced water would be served upon arrival and diners would not have to listen to the private conversations of the waiting staff. The food itself was good (though not if you are on a diet as there seems to be cream, butter or cheese on most things) and the service, acceptable. We tried starters of chicken Caesar salad - excellent and the rissoles - nothing special. For the main course we had the Mardi Gras - tasty and the steak - very good. The ambience was pleasant and the lighting, cosy. Two course meal for two without drinks and tea to finish: €77 inc service. I will definitely go back when someone asks me to take them to a Creole restaurant.

Went here for a birthday party. Good food and service, the portions were huge and had just enough room for pudding. For the full lash including a few drinks is only came to €300 not bad for five people. Will eat here again, but please turn on some lights.

Great spot this, very atmospheric and old time Creole the place is cosy and the food is tasty tasty tasty! I've only been here once but look forward to a reason to go back! Service is good but relaxed so there is no sense of being hurried on like so many other places in the area. Highly recommend this one!

Great place had a magic night out! We stayed all night ate & drank loads. The popcorn is delicious and the steaks as good as I have tasted. Have been back since for the early bird which is really good value and available every day.

"If You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans".... Those who know the Crescent City will know that old song and will also be grateful that a place like Tante Zoe's exists. The gumbos in particular will conjure up a lot of memories, and the shrimp Creole will take you right back. Not everything on the menu is strictly-speaking what you would find off Canal Street or in the Quarter, but if you can't afford the ticket to the Big Easy, then this is your next best bet.

Could this be the best value early bird in Dublin? Visited here recently and got in before 7pm for the early bird. I chose a plantation cheese log, a Cajun chicken skillet and Mississippi mud pie for desert. Along with coffee this came to €23. Absolute bargain. They could do with turning up the lights a bit though.

Great place - We used to go there regularly but not so much anymore- don't know why- must start going again. I love the dooky gumbo and the blackened chicken.

I got a present of a voucher for Tante Zoes, which worked out brilliantly as I would probably have never gone there myself. Great home cooking style food. If you want something different why not try Tante Zoes.

I ate in this restaurant Thurs 15th Dec, with about 25 other people on a work do, and have to say it was not good at all. I know it is silly season, but we had the plates literally thrown at us, and my wife had to send her steak back as it arrived med rare instead of well done! My fish was warm, at best, and although the decor was appealing, the standard of food left a lot to be desired. I will try it once more when things have calmed down, but for what we paid, we did not get value for money. We felt like sushi on a conveyor belt and that the staff wanted us out ASAP...........................................................................

A lovely restaurant with delectable, mid priced food. I had the mardi gras jambalaya, a great choice for veggies and shared the dauphoise potatoes with my partner who had fillet lafayette. Everything was thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were friendly and obliged us when we were a bit late for the reservation we had made. I would definitely recommend for something a bit different in Dublin

Take your own torch if you want to be able to read the menu, as it really is quite dark in there! On saying that though that is my only small complaint about the place - and I liked the atmosphere so I'm not sure I'd want much more light anyway! The food was really lovely, with more vegetarian selections than most, and a great range of unusual dishes that you don't get chance to try every day. I'm looking forward to my next visit already! Yum yum!

A lovely spot for a party night! We had a celebratory party from work recently and I was so happy, went back for my friend’s birthday. The surroundings are a bit formal for the fun that the menu gives, so don't be put off straight away. The food is sufficiently different to allow everybody the chance to swap plates for a bit of "try this". The Gumbo was great - if you never try, you'll never know. I'll go back again in a heartbeat but strangely, I wouldn't go there for a romantic night out - it's more a place for a group gathering.

Tante Zoes is a restaurant that never fails to deliver. The food is wonderful (I'd go back just for their plantation cheese log), the atmosphere relaxed and the staff smiling and helpful, regardless of the size of the party involved.

The food in here is lovely. The plantation cheese log is divine. I've only had one bad experience dining here and that was with the staff. The food has always been perfect

By far my favourite restaurant in Dublin. Recently got a facelift, but thankfully it was only the decor that got the going-over, they did nothing to the menu, which itself is perfect. Try the Dooky Gumbo as starter, and try a lighter main, such as the Blackened Chicken, with their perfect potatoes. Divine, and not badly priced!
