Very knowledgeable, friendly and professional staff. Even though the place was full we received just the right amount of attention. Good value for money - we used the o2 treats voucher which gives you 15% off the total bill. Love the tradition of this place and the old photos on the walls of the old FXB Butchers on Moore St. Food is divine - there was not a scrap left on our plates. I finished off with the Sheridan's cheese plate which was delish. Will definitely be back the next time I want a perfect steak and a thoroughly satisfying meal.

This was my first time here and I was impressed. I had goats cheese tartlet for starters -delicious!, followed by the medallions of beef. Cooked to perfection. There were 10 of us in the group and we all really enjoyed it. Definitely coming here again.

Excellent dining experience. Excellent quality food at very reasonable prices, (particularly the value menus & early-bird menus). The menu itself is extensive as is the wine list. This restaurant has an excellent atmosphere, very relaxing, and the staff were extremely friendly and very polite. Would definitely recommend it to all and would go there again. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

We both ate from the three course value menu for 25.95 each, it was all delicious, my partner had the rib eye and said its probably the best he has ever eaten. We arrived without a reservation and we were seated immediately on a friday evening about 7pm. Great food. Great Service

Went to FXB's recently with a group of friends, I have been to this resturant a number of times over the last few years. The service was fantastic as usual and the steaks are the best I've had in Dublin. The value menu is very reasonably priced with a good selection and I shall be visiting here again in future.

Went with a big group for Christmas dinner out and everyone was extremely impressed. Food was excellent and the waiter was really nice despite us being late. It's pricey enough but for a special occasion it's a must

Went on Monday night with the sisters. hadn't been before but I will definitly be back! We were met with some of the freindliest service I have ever experienced. The guy at front of house knew me by name (He's not psychic I had booked online) our waiter was informative and genuinly freindly. The service complimented the food beautifully - informal and thoroughly enjoyable. My rib eye steak was cooked to perfection with sides of fries and onion rings. Loved that the steak was presented on the plate with nothing more than a litle dish of pepper sauce. Apple crumble for desert tasted home made and was piping hot. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Went here on Friday night with my husband. We had the value menu which had a great selection on it. I had the ribs to start, and my husband had the chowder, then we both had the rib eye steak and they were cooked to perfection. We were well taken care of by the staff. They had a great selection of wines and Irish beers, the atmosphere was great but not too loud, so you could actually talk and not have to shout, will definitely return soon.

I cannot rave about this restaurant enough! Anytime I am looking for a place to eat in town I go here. The food is in a league of its own, the atmosphere is relaxing and inviting and the staff are the best you can get. They are attentive and friendly and are a credit to the Restaurant. I find the prices very reasonable also! If you dont fancy a big meal you can also pop to their sister company The Bull & Castle at the top of christchurch and be equally satisfied!. I can imagine I will visit FXB in the coming weeks and starve myself before going in!

Went for my mom's birthday and got a surprised cake for her and 4 proceccos. very good service, the waiter kept smiling and been quite efficient. nice steak and fries, the only thing we probably was a bit disappointed was that for steaks, there was only 1 sides and no salad etc.

I dined at FXB last night, there were a party of 18 of us. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. Athough there was such a big group, everybodies needs and wants were catered to with no fuss. To start I had the soup, for mains I had the corn-fed chicken with mash potatoe and smoken gueben cheese, it was a perfect blend of flavours, I thouroughly enjoyed every mouthful. For desert I had the warm chocolate brownie with ice cream, which also went down a treat. They have a great selection of wine to suit each meal and individual taste. I find that sometimes restaurants of such a high calibre can sometimes feel unwelcoming...but this is far from the case with FXB. I would recommend it to anyone whether its dinner for 2 or a party or corporate event.

Excellent service which could have served to overlook any slipup under the sun but not that that was necessary anyway. I had the pate to start which I wasn't very fond of but the brioche was lovely, my partner had the carpaccio and thought there was too much lemon juice which over powered it but still liked it. the mains saved it for him- he had the fillet steak and nearly fell over when he took the first bite, enough said! I had the vegetarian pie with lentils which was really nice but might have benefited from something sweet or tart to contrast the nutty and deep flavours. Overall loved it there and will be back.

!st visit. Quite a small restaurant but a nice atmosphere. A little cramped especially trying to take your seat if you are at the wall. I nearly knocked the table and candle over trying to squeeze in. And I don't like the table leg. One large center leg on a round end. There is nowhere to put your feet and you spend the entire meal with your legs twisted to one side. Onto the other matters. We had only just arrived and had been handed the menus and within 1 minute had 3 staff over asking if we were ready to order. At start of meal actually felt a little rushed. But that calmed down and we settled in. Mr, Boop had the Cesar salad to start and I chose the pate. Nice smooth creamy pate, plenty of it but with only 2 tiny triangles of bread. I had to ask for more or else eaten it on a spoon. We both had streak, mine the Rib-eye and Mr. Boops the Fillet. Both lovely and cooked just as requested. They did come with a choice of potatoes and sauce, (on the side) but thought the plate looked really bare and plain. I think a little salad garnish would make all the difference to the appearance and would not exactly break the bank for them. Could not fit dessert but did enjoy the meal. So will return soon.

I dine at this restaurant quite a bit as it is usually very good. I dined here a few nights ago for my boyfriends birthday along with his parents. The service was as always excellent and the food was quite good. Two of us had the goats cheese crouton which was very tasty and the two men had the ribs which were ok but there was too much soya in the sause. For main we all had the medallions, this is one of my favourite meals, however if I were to be picky I would say the portion was a little smaller than usual however it still satisfied. Also, we found the sauce to be too salty. The restaurant does a fantastic birthday promotion which consists of a personalised birthday cake, which was delicious, and a complementary drink for the whole party. Our waiter was great and made such a lovely effort singing along and taking photos. Overall, another great experience at Fxb, I must also mention the value is great too.

Ate here last night! was out for a few 'business drinks' with 5 other men from the office! we didnt have a booking but we thoguht we would chance it and they said they would have a table in 20 mins! the food is one of the best i have had in a long time in dublin and the value menu deal was such great value for money! think it was €26 for 3 courses!i had kidneys to start and i was shocked to see them on the menu as it has been years since i have seen them on a menu in ireland!! they were kood to perfection.... the majority of the table ordered pate which had no complaints and one ordered the ribs...which by the look of his face were just what he was looking for!!for mains we all ordered steak...i know fxb are known for steak but ive never seen such a variety of steaks on a menu before. there were 5 rib eyes oredered and one sirloin and they were truy the best steaks ever....they were all cooked perfectly....we all said we will most certainly be back to visit fxb temple bar....the food was superb!!

Was here again on 30th april and had a loverly evening. We had reserved on menu pages, and the friendly maitre d greeted me by first name in arrival! We had a lovely corner table by the window. The food was delicious - i had calamari to start. It was a lovely light starter. And the garlic sauce was delicious! My boyfriend had the wings- they wee amazing - fabulously sticky and messy! He had steak for mains and i had the fisher mans pie and we shared a side of homemade onion rings. The waitress couldn't have been more helpful when www asked her recommendations for wine. Her chice was excellent - and she offered to change the bottle if we were not happy- we drank it all! Overall a lovely evening with very friendly staff, I wont leave it so long to come back next time!

We visited here recently for the second time and we had a beautiful 2 course dinner for 19.95 each We had no appointment and were welcomed straight in. The Staff were very friendly, with great charisma. We both ordered the Squid and the steak from the discounted menu, the squid was tender and delicious, with pickled ginger, which gave it an extra dimension. The steak was perfectly cooked and very tasty. We had a glass of house red with the steak, the house wine was very nice, i cant remember what it was but it was so gud I ordered a second class!. I would recomend it whole heartedly, and I will certainly be back.. Thanks FXB's!!

We went here for dinner recently. It was crowded and noisy but the food was really good. The early bird menu is good value. I had duck liver pate to start, which needed a bit more bread but was otherwise lovely. He had the soup, which was parsnip & rosemary. For mains we both had steak; both of them were cooked just the way we liked them, mine was very rare and delicious! The pepper sauce is great, though be aware that the steak does not come with any vegetables unless you order them separately. Desserts of chocolate brownie with ice cream weren't very memorable. The steak here is fantastic, but it is awfully noisy so perhaps not the best place for a romantic dinner!

And the award for the noisiest restaurant in Dublin goes to FXBs in Crow Street! In vited by two friends for dinner it was with serious trepidation that I approached this place last Wed and within 10 seconds of opening the door and ascending the staircase I knew we were in for a rocky evening. The screaming and shouting was at an all time high, incredible. Our booking was for 9pm and hadn't been noted but we got a table. A group of 16 office types were celebrating their best week of sales for ages and were letting rip. We managed to shout our order to the waiter and before he moved off we asked if there was anything that could be done about the noise. He looked at us bemusedly and said that they would be leaving shortly, which was a blatant lie as they hadn't even started their main courses! With a bill of appx €1k in the offing he had no intention of upsetting such important clients and the look on his face suggested 'who did we think we were?' just put up with it or leave. It's important to stress that this resto is not cheap with steaks ranging from €22 to €32. I have eaten here many times and it has always been loud and noisy but Wed took the proverbial biscuit. The food was excellent though, thankfully. Seafood chowder, devilled kidneys and a Caesar salad were all first class and the three steaks were cooked to order, again very good. Beware of the chunky chips as they came blazing hot and an actual danger to the mouth. Considering that our bill was almost €200 in my opinion the carryon in the resto and the indifference of the staff was totally unacceptable. To make matters worse one of the gang of 16 when leaving came over to offer his apologies for the noise they had made. He said it with a large drunken grin on his face. Enough said. Needless to say I will never go back.

I went to FXB for my boyfriend’s birthday. For a guy living with a veggie he is main deprived of meat so what better way to treat him than taking him for a nice steak dinner. The restaurant in Crow St is fairly spacious and you aren’t crammed in on top of other diners. The selection of veggie meals is, as I though, scarce but this doesn’t really matter as the baked aubergine is to die for. the starters for me as a good, if a bit dull, goats cheese. He had oysters followed by the thickest steak I've ever seen. The staff were very friendly without over doing it. I'd probably go again, although it would be good to see something a little more adventurous for starters.

We went to FXB on Crow Street twice in quick succession as the OH loves his steak, the first time they lost our booking but managed to fit us in about half an hour after we expected to be eating. We ordered a bottle of prosecco as it was a special occasion and we received some creme de cassis on the house to apologize for our wait so we had some yummy Kirs! I had fish, which was lovely, and the OH had steak which he enjoyed but thought that a restaurant which specialized in steak would have manged something slightly better. On our second visit we were seated downstairs , I disliked the room immensely, it was dark and dingy and the gray paint on the walls did nothing to make it seem nicer. Our table was in the middle of the room at the bottom of the stairs and I constantly felt we were in the way of the staff as they rushed up and down the stairs. I had calamari to start and a different fish then the first time as my main course unfortunately they both tasted exactly the same. Both were very heavily seasoned with chili. The OH's steak was thin, rubbery and fatty. Though the staff on both occasions were very nice, helpful and friendly we couldn't help but think the restaurant could do with more staff, those that are there are doing the best they can.

Was here for Sunday dinner with my colleagues (3 girls). The restaurant has a good atmosphere and great service. I had a burger which was tasty but for me half the meat loaf would have been enough, it was a bit too much. The girls had steaks (rib eye, fillet and sirloin) and they all loved them! Desserts were all very good, they served tiramisu with chocolate sauce and my friend didn't like it - they noticed it and replaced it without us asking for it, we were very impressed! Overall, I would recommend it to steak lovers!

Went here on a quiet wednesday evening. Lovely warm decor, very friendly staff. Me and my friend went for the offer of 3 courses each plus a bottle of housewine for 65 euro. Great value! The food was delicious. I got a large salad with goatscheese. The skate for a main (unfortunately not deboned-but very tasty) and a superb chocolate brownie. My friend ordered a huge steak, which was cooked to perfection. I will definately return.

My partner and I are regular diners at FXB Temple Bar for the simply reason that the food is consistently good and it represents excellent value off the early bird. The decor is nice, the staff efficient and friendly and the ribeye one of if not the best steak around. Force of habit means I have only tasted limited items off the menu but the pate and calamari are very good and the sticky toffee or chocolate fondant top quality. The wine list is extensive with good choices at all prices. Two small gripes please bring back the skinny chips and revisit the pepper sauce.

I was there last Friday as our Christmas Night Out and we had the Christmas Evening Menu. We were not offered the mulled wine on arrival. The restaurant was full of fellow Christmas diners and I would have expected that the restaurant would have been adequatly staffed to cope with the numbers dining. There was only four staff in attendance the maitre d was the only person serving the food while the other staff only took drink orders. The food was nice and steaks cooked as requested however the delays between the courses were very long. Some of us decided to have an Irish Coffee after our dinner and they were horrible and served in a wine glass ! they were that bad that none of us finished them. I would suggest they purchase irish coffee glasses, and have more staff in attendance for Xmas party nights.

Fxb in temple bar on Wednesday 8th dec looked great with its tasteful christmas decorations, the staff as always were both efficient and friendly. The complimentary glass of mulled wine added the good feeling. The little touches make all the difference, home made bread, great chips and the cajun onion rings wonderful.. Steaks are excellent as you would expect and cooked prefectly. If there was any gripe its that the sauces that come on the side are not as good as the rest of the food. But that aside, the beer , wine are good and its highly recommended for a night out.

I went here with a large group of friends on a saturday evening. Its not somewhere i'd have chosen myself, as i actually dislike steak. Service was ok, not great, not bad. I had the bruschetta to start and it was lovely. I was limited choicewise with the mains as i dont like steak or joints of other red meats, but thats not the restaurants fault, it is a mainly a steakhouse after all. I chose the pan fried skate with spring onion mash and wilted spinach, and a side of sauted onions. It was all absolutely delicious. One small thing i disliked was all the bones in it, i prefer deboned fish. Most of the group had steaks, from rare to well done, and they all really enjoyed them, not one word of complaint. The one poor vegetarian in the group had no option apart from roasted aubergine for the main...not exactly great as the one vegetarian option as a lot of people dislike aubergine, but he struggled through. Overall the food was wonderful, but had i been paying for it myself (and a steak eater) i dont think i would eat there again. Its very expensive for what you get, and there are so many other places with meal deals and similar tasting food, that unless you have loads of money to burn on overage sized portions i dont see any reason to go there.

Went last night for my birthday and really enjoyed this restauraunt. Despite there being a large crowd of pre - theatre diners we received prompt and very friendly service. Food was delicious - had pate and prawns starter and fillet steak mains which was cooked exactly to our liking (well done for me and medium for my husband) homemade chips were really nice and the bernaise sauce was fab. We had german beer which was a first for us but was nice to try something new. A little on the expensive side but was worth it. Overall a really enjoyable experience , would recommend to friends and will return very soon !!!!

Chose to go here as my girlfriend had gotten a voucher for a free meal from work, and not having to pay for the meal was the highlight of the night. Being tempe bar, the restaurant was quite busy, and it is also quite well done, resulting in an average atmosphere. The service was OK. They were quite non-existent but due to the small size of the restaurant it was quite easy to get their attention. The food was decent, not great but edible. I got the calamari to start. It is hard to be blown away by calamari, and I certainly wasn't. As the restaurant is known for its steaks, I decided to get one of the more expensive ones to get the most from my experience. at 25 euro, the 12 oz rib eye was not great value for money. an average steak with very standard pepper sauce. I would have been quite happy with it if cost abot 15 euro, but at 25 I was expecting much better. An OK meal but nothing amazing, and definitely not recommended for someone who doesnt have the money to overpay and not regret it.

Went fri Evening with mother and both got early bird. Brushetta and pate to start, pate portion was far 2big for small amount of toast! both had steak which was cooked perfectly, tho with it being early bird there wasnt even a lettuce leaf on side of large plate which just had steak on it-not v. attractive! Staff were friendly but wont be in a rush back.

Amazing Steak from the Early Bird Menu!!! The staff were really accomodating, because we were half an hour late for the early bird menu, but they didn't mind! Ordered bruschetta for starter and then had the steak! Both were delicious. Would go back again!

Party of four on a Saturday night had the early bird menu which is excellent value. I had calamari and the steak bearnaise (which I love), faultless. I continue to come back to this restaurant because of the great produce, service and value.

4 of us went for dinner because 2 of the diners love steak. The starters were grand but nothing to be writing home about. Mussels best (small portion is plenty) and Pate worst. Themains we all had steak, and it's literally steak on a plate with side of sauce, no garnish even?! Steak was tender and cooked perfectly, side of veg dripping butter. The chunky chips where baby potatoes cut into 4's. Desserts were grand but the apple crumble way too sweet (and I have sweet tooth!) Positives, nice decor, friendly staff, great steak. Negatives, starter, desserts, veg and nothing exciting about presentation

Went to FXB for dinner with my wife and this was our first visit. I was worried I was under dressed being in jeans and a t-shirt, but it was a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. The service was very good. The waitress was very pleasant and provided very prompt service without trying to rush us. I loved that they bring a small pitcher of water to leave on the table. I really dislike sitting around thirsty in a restaurant with no servers to be found. I felt a bit disappointed by the quality of the food, especially after reading positive reviews and hearing good things about FXB. I started with a small garden salad, while presented nice and with a tasty dressing, there was lots of wilted lettuce in my salad. I ordered the ribeye steak with onion straws and mashed potatoes. My steak arrived completely rare but I didnt send it back. It was nice and tender but had more fat on a steak than Ive ever seen. My mashed potatoes came luke warm and both looked and tasted like they had been sitting around for a long time. Overall the food did not impress me.

We went to FXB last nite and each had a steak. We got a house salad and bread and dips to start. We were surprised at hot big the bread and dips platter was...we shared it and were glad we had only ordered one. My husband had the rib eye which he asked for medium rare but it was pretty rare when it came out. I got the steak medalions and really enjoyed it...very tasty. Our waitress was very nice but we had a few questions regarding the sauce for the steak and the salad dressing and she had no idea --- but she went and asked and gave us the answers quickly...so the service was very good. I would go back to FXB...its a good location, service was really good, atmosphere was nice, and food was tasty.

Ate here last night for with my fiancée for special anniversary meal We arrived with no booking but they managed to get us a seat which was great. The restaurant was busy but had a nice atmosphere. I had the fish cakes for starter which were ok but I have tasted better, my partner had the bbq ribs which to be honest were not great, they were served in a Soy & honey glaze sauce which made them over salty & as a result not very tasty. I had the sirloin for my main which again was only ok, it was not really seasoned so was a little disappointed. And all side orders was extra which I thought was a little dis appointing. My partner had the Medallions of Fillet of Beef for his main which were again unseasoned & a little disappointing. For dessert I had an hazelnut cake with pistaschio ice cream – it was different... My partner had the crème bruele which was again only ok The restaurant was quite busy - and there were 2 girls on all night but the managed to cope ok, All in all I don’t think we would return to this restaurant, we have had nicer experiences in other FXB’s.

I ate here for my sisters birthday recently. There was 15 of us some of which were kids. The service was good and the food was very nice. The only bad point was that there was no option for the kids. Overall was good value for money.

Really like this place when I'm in the mood for meat. The sirlon/ribeye comes with fried onions, mash and yum gravy. No matter what you order, get a side of the fried onions (not onion rings) as they are lovely! Think my fav dishes here are - for starters: beef carpaccio and mussels (with fab bread for dunking in sauce) and mains: ribeye steak and their pie... think pie is something like e11, unbelievably cheap but wonderful gravy! You'd kinda need to book a table towards the weekend but worth it.

i ate here with a party of 15 as a birthday celebration and found the food and service to be really good, no one had any complaints about the food and the salmon in particular was really good as were the crab cakes, my particular favorite was the baileys creme brullee, i dont normally favour desserts but very few places do this desert so i had to try it and i have to say it was delicous, only little gripe would be that our party was spread over 2 tables and we hadnt been told about this when we booked.

Went for lunch with work mates. Friendly atomosphere, they are very welcoming, took my coat at the door and made sure i had a comfortable seat. We all ordered steak i had a fillet that was cooked to perfection. The quality of the steak was really good and everybody around me had their steaks cooked to specific order. However will say the price is slightly inflated but i guess you have to pay for a good steak i recommend this place if you like your red meat

I went to FXB in temple Bar last night and i have to say it was absolutely amazing! i started off with the duck pate that just melted in your mouth and was served with lightly toasted freshly made bread and it was so good i even stole my boyfriends bread to have more! for the main course i got the 8oz steak and it was cooked to perfection and came with home made chips with the skin still on and slightly flavoured, i couldnt get enough of it. All this came as a 3 course set meal for 24.95 and included desert that i couldnt manage to eat i was so full. This was excellent quality. The restaraunt was atmospheric, chilled, fun and cosy. The staff where extremely pleasant and helpful and where bouncing around the place with big smiles on their faces all night and couldnt do enough to help. They even recommended the wine for our meal which was lovely and was a very reasonable price. My compliments to the Chefs in here. I am already looking forward to going back again and recommending it to all of my friends!

Looking for somewhere in Dublin that has nice steaks can be difficult, but FXB do amazing steaks and great variety of them. To start I had the Goats cheese tartlet which was delicious. And for the main course, I had the 10oz stirloin steak. I usually wouldn't be able to eat this much, but it was so nice, I didn't want it to go to waste. And I never eat meat with any sign of blood/redness in it, but I also did not want a leathery piece of steak. And I was impressed with it. My critiques however would be the service, it was very slow, and maybe because we were seated in a corner, the waiters never seemed to notice us looking for their attention. But when the service did gradually pick up. The desert was quite bizarre. Both my boyfriend and I got the ice cream, but the flavours were bland. And it wasn't easy to identify what flavours they were actually supposed to be. But the main course and the starter were incredible, I will be returning again.

Went for a bite of food with two friends and as we were early we got the the earlybird. Me and friend had a burger and for dessert I got the Baileys creme brulee. The burger was nice, however the portion was not that big and it was served on a big empty looking plate so the first impression was 'is that all?' The other friend got the steak and it looked kinda lonely too on the plate..I think he was thinking the same thing. I did not taste Baileys of the dessert but it was nevertheless tasty. The restaurant was quite empty first and then quickly filled up. Staff very polite and helpful; we got the bill before we got a chance to ask for it as we had to vacate table by 8pm. Ok experience in all.

We wnet here for an early bird and were really pleased. There was a good selection on the early bird menu. There were four of us so we sampled almost every on the menu and had no complaints. At 24euro for 3 courses it was really good value.

Wandered into this place by chance. We ate from the early bird menu, which was very reasonable. The place was empty, which was surprising for a Friday evening. I got pate to start which was nice but the portion was far too big. BF got the soup which was delicious. For mains i got the burger, very nice, great dressing and lots of chunky wedges. BF the Chicken(like a roast sinner with veg and stuffing) He thought it was delicious but a bit on the small side. However by the time we were finished we were both stuffed, wish is good considering it was €18 for the two courses! Would go back.

It was a pity to see this restaurant empty on a Sunday night with only one other table occupied.I used to be a big fan of their restaurant when it was open on the Malahide road so a journey to the city centre encouraged us to try it Staff were pleasant and attentive with plenty of banter between the chefs and the waiting staff. I like the way the menu is laid out with the 25euro value menu or just ordering from the a la carte, there is not that much in the difference in the price. Steaks are cooked to order and sized to order which I really liked you can have a steak of any size and its priced by the oz. My 8oz was cooked to perfection( I am a real stickler about this) the accompaniments were yummy wedges, freshly cooked. OH also proclaimed that his steak was excellent. A nice bottle of red wine priced around the 23 euro mark left us proclaiming that perhaps this has to be one of the best steakhouses around with a genuine uncomplicated menu. Sauces are included and we also had a side of onion rings- fresh and a generous portion. The portions are BIG so I would perhaps skip the starter the next time and get a slightly bigger steak. We will definitely return and I would recommend this to any steak lovers!

Smallest Portions Ever Ever Ever!!!! i recently had the misfortune of having to visit an FXB for my 2nd time and it was even worse than my first. its deffinately overhyped. the food, staff and place is ok. this ones toilets smelt. within the group i was with 2 people made the mis"steak" of ordering a steak. they were so small i nearly fell off my chair laughing. cameras actualy came out to snap how small they were. my laughter was swifly ended when what i thought would be a safe bet. (monkfish) came out. 3 Pieces the size of chicken nuggests!! i will never return to any FXB ever. next time ill say, see you after, and ill laugh when i hear what i wisely avoided. Never Ever Again, what a rip off. if i could have id’ve uploaded a photo of the steak and you wouldnt believe it.

Arrived in at about 6.30pm with no reservation on a Saturday Night and they still fit us in which was good! They have a value menu on offer three courses for €24.95 fantastic value but not many options if you don't want meat. Staff very attentive and service good, food was delicious this included the goats cheese tart, prawn tails, Caesar salad and 10oz steak. Nothing could be faulted and the chocolate pudding with hazelnut ice-cream was delicious. I would recommend this place to everyone !!!

Ate here on a Monday evening. We were the first in at 18:30. The service was very good as was the food. Both diners had the calamari and the rib eye steak form the early bird menu, accompanied by a 2/3 bottle of the shiraz (also on special for €12.50) The calamari was served on a rocket salad with a ginger dressing. The steak was cooked to excactly as ordered and was served with homemade chunky chips, both were delicious. €52.00 with 1 coffee. No complaints here

Went here on a monday night for dinner with the other half and had a great dinner, we chose from the value menu which is €25 for three courses. The food was lovely and fresh, cooked to order and very tasty, was suprisingly busy for a monday night but that is probably the good value, will definitely be back

Paid a visit here on Monday night.I was impressed overall with what we got.I got the caesar salad to start which was very fresh and tasted good while my partner got the seafood chowder which was a bit rich for her liking but didn't stop her eating it! For the main course i got the rib eye which costs 4 euro more when you're getting it from the value menu. This was really really tasty. It was exactly to my liking and was worth the extra few quid. The portion of mash with it was a bit small but for this price it was just what could be expected. Her main was pan fried sea bass and she loved it.simple desserts of ice cream were nice.Overall the food and service was very good. Its a great price having all this for 54 euro.I'll be back here again to sample some of the other options.Just don't get a table near the door......it was cold where we sat....sometimes the door doesn't seem to close properly.

We went for the value menu and it was happy choice. Although they charge you a little extra for steaks (fillet or rib eye), the food is excellent and good range of options even on value menu. My crab cakes were a lovely surprise and the rib eye steak was tender and juicy. The Creme brulee was genuinely tasty too. Accompanied by a fruity bottle of Italian "Primitivo", we experienced a throughout excellent meal with attentive and fast service. Definitely we will come back

Food was ok, nothing special. Prawn starter drenched in butter and also the prawns had quite a strong fishy smell and fresh prawns shouldn't. Very sweet sauce came with the ribs, definitely wasn't barbeque. Steak was overcooked, mash was lumpy. Dessert was ok but nothing memorable. Service was good enough. Overall my lasting impression is overpriced. Wouldn't return in a hurry.

not my first visit with my boyfriend and as always, food and service excellent. same waitress serving since my last visit in jan (good sign of a well run place when staff turnover is low) so she was very helpful and knowledgeable with the wine selection etc. we both ordered from the early bird menu and had caesar salad and soup to start both very good and then we both had the rib eye with pepper sauce which was cooked exactly as we asked and all food and sides were hot as timing of food service was spot on. always enjoyable to eat at FXB crow street and couldnt reccommend it enough.

My boyfriend and I went for an early bird here recently. The early bird/value menus are great value. I had the crab cakes and the catch of the day which was a herb crusted cod and he had the bruschetta and the ribeye steak. Both meals were lovely, not outstanding but well worth the 19.95 each. The service too was fine. No complaints! We were one of the first customers at the restaurant that evening, so cant really comment on the atmosphere.

It was a tasty tasty experience! The steak was really really juicy and full of flavor. FXB is for steak! Then again, we had a vegetarian in our group and her dish was evn more impressive thn the steak =) The staff were attentive and obliging, by this I mean 1. it was 5mins before the early bird menu was over, yet the staff said to take our time as they would accept us for the early bird. 2. for choices of dessert - the staff offered desserts not even on the early bird selection, WONDERFUL isn't it. I'd recomm the bailey's brulee 3. for choices of sauce - again they offered choices that were not on the menu. Fabulous team, great food, warm smiles. You people should go for it!

Have been here a few times for the early bird menu €24.95 for 3 courses. On this occassion we were 10 minutes late for our table, luckily the friendly manager squeezed us in. We started with the pork ribs and the crab cakes which were delicious. Then we both had steaks, one rib eye cooked to perfection and one sirloin steak also cooked prefectly however it wasn't the best cut, part of the meat was very tough and chewy. We ordered 2 sides sauteed onions and mushrooms. We finished with dessert, pear and custard tart and apple crumble which is one of the nicest restaurant versions i've had in a long time. Our bill came to €90 with a nice bottle of red wine not bad for a 3 course meal. Very good value. We will be back.

All I can say is possibly the best steak I have ever eaten. Great value they are doing Early Bird 7 days a week up to 8pm and they have an amazing Rib Eye Steak on the Early Bird no supplement. Great service and discount in wines over 25euro. What more do you want. I have already raved about it to friends and am planning my next visit soon.

ate here on a saturday night with my boyfriend and i really enjoyed it.we just had a main course each & a half bottle of wine. funnily enough if we had had 3 courses on the value menu it prob would have worked out cheaper or at least not much more than what we paid (it worked out @ €54 incl €15 for the wine). however it was still well worth it, i had the 10oz sirloin which was totally divine, with garlic butter(u can also choose from 3 other sauces) and a perfectly cooked baked spud (or u can choose mash, chips or salad) very simple plain meal but totally full of taste & satisfying.my bf had the steak burger it came on a lovely crispy piece of ciabatta rather than the usually processed crappy burger bun. the chips where beautiful, somewhere between chips & wedges with the skins stil on & nice & crispy. our waitress was lovely, very friendly but not overfamiliar. im lookin forward to goin back here on a hungrier day to indulge in the gorgeous sounding starters & side orders.

Met a friend for the early bird, 2 courses for 18.50. We both had the calamari to start, followed by the steaks. Both courses were delicious! The steaks in particular were great and came with a choice of 4 sauces. With a bottle of wine the bill came to 60euro's so pretty good value. I would recommend this restaurant and I will be back!

I had dinner here with my boyfriend last Thursday after work and it was great. They have an early bird offer, 2 courses for €18.50. I had the bruschetta to start very tasty, then the 10 oz sirloin for main and it was perfect. My boyfriend had the soup and the burger and was really happy with his choice. The staff were very friendly, I really enjoyed my visit and would return for the food it was fab. My only gripe was with the music, it was frantic sounding and too loud for dinner music, not relaxing at all and quite intrusive. Other than that perfect!

I love this restaurant. I've been to FXB on Crows St in Temblebar 5 or 6 time now and its is consistantly good. There steak is the best. Myeslf and my boyfriend decided to go here again for the 2 course early bird for 18.50. Bargin or what. The Rib eye steak was fab and the service was very good also. Our table was booked for 6:30pm and I couldn't get over how busy the restaurant was. Its great to see given the current economy. The atmosphere was great. The only fault I could mention was the desert - Choc pudding - I wasn't the best but I think this was down to personal preference. It wouldn't stop me going back again. I'm looking forward to me next visit

Fantastic restaurant, can't rate the staff or the food highly enough. The early bird menu has to be one of the best value menues around at the moment and they dont hold back on portion size or quality. I had the cajun steak the other day and have to say, the onions are some of the best I've had. Well worth going here!

We eat here recently one Friday evening after work... I had the early bird @ €23.95 for 3 course and my partner had the regular menu. We found the portions on both menu's to be small but I found it to be filling enough as we had 3 courses. My partner could have done with a bigger portion! The early bird is good value for money, our only complaint was we were pushed into a small corner and it was difficulty to get the attention of the waitress/waiter. Its worth a try but expect to pay for side orders. Our total bill came to €75 with 2 wines and beers each.

While on the more expensive side this restauraunt is definately were a first time steak eater should go. The waiter recommended the steaks for the table based on our experiences, was great fun too. The steak was beautiful and have to admit that I nearly licked the sauce bowl clean. The only thing was the draught coming from the door but that couldn't be helped!

I visited FXB's on a Sunday evening and took advantage of the early bird menu. It was fabulous! Started off with Bruschetta and scrumptious tomatoes, wouldn't be my usual choice for a starter but I was pleasantly surprised. The main was a perfectly cooked steak accompanied by delicious hand cut skinny fries. To end I had a Baileys Crème brûlée which was just as delicious as the steak before it. All in all it cost just under 25 quid, a bargain by all accounts and by far the best value meal I've had in Dublin in a long time.

Visted FXBs in Temple Bar on Sun at 6.30 to enjoy early bird menu. We all had steaks and while I enjoyed mine my companion complained hers was cold. Might have had something to do with the fact we were chilly at our table.....couldn't decide if it was airconditioning or a draught from the door! Steaks came with french fries which were overcooked and burned. All in all a disappointing visit having read the reviews on menupages. Won't be back!

I have been coming her for Quite a while. The host is always very professional and friendly and I have popped in without bookings a few times with my partner and they were very accommodating and squeezed us in at busy times. The steaks are great and while some complain about tyhe size in previious posts remember the more welll done the more it shrinks especially fillet steaks. I think the wait staff are very professional and always found this a pleasant experience. I see they have eary birds and a value menu in the window when i walked by recently so i think they are smart trying to be competitive instead of putting their heads in the sand like many other places. Its a nice casual enjoyable place and nice wines!

Went here for an early bird on a Sat night. Very good value, beautiful steaks only fault was that the fries were a little cold. They had good reductions on the wine and we got a beautiful bottle. Service was excellent and the place had a good crowd.

I went for dinner here (earlybird) with 3 friends. To be honest I didn't think much of the pate starter or my dessert. But I'd like to focus on the positives. We all ordered steaks (when in rome). All came perfectly cooked, perfectly rested and perfectly seasoned. The beef itself was very tasty and some of the nicest I've tasted in Dublin. I'd put it on par with other well know steak restaurants in Dublin. All and all formidable mains. Will return.

Simply perfect! This was my second visit to FXB Temple Bar and again, I was very impressed. The chowder and ribs to start were simply delicious. My steak was cooked to perfection and my girlfriend had the fish special which was a beautiful black sole on a bed of mash. The chocolate cake is a good choice for dessert. The waiter couldn't have been more cheerful or efficient. I can't wait to go back!

Dreadful pretty much sums up my recent dining experience here. At one time this restaurant was definitly one of the city's hidden gems but now seems to have sacrificed standards and quality and has now become another tacky Dublin eatery. Pate for starter was incredibly chewy with bits of fat or sinew mad it inedible and this fatty chewy tastelessness continued with my ribeye!!! The pepper sauce was forgettable. Overall a disappointing meal which is a shame as this place used to be excellent.

Hmmm...I wasn't overly impressed with FXB's. The steak was small & nothing special- I asked for it to be brought with no sauce, chips or mash but the sauce was still there. I asked for a green-leaves-only salad but the olives, peppers and onions were still there by the time they reached the table. Cero appetisers and 2 very basic slices of bread as an introduction did not impressed me either. The minimal tasteless ice-cream scoop that came with my affogatto was easy to forget too. Years ago I had a better meal in this place and as in many Dublin venues, this one is not living up to standards.

Went to FXB's with a group of 12 work colleagues mid-week. The restaurant was full with only one waitress working - she did the best she could and it wasn't her fault that she wasn't able to service the whole restaurant effectively. Service was extremelly slow and there was one mistake with our order. In saying that, I still think the Value menu is great, especially if you are having streak. Duck Liver Pate, Rib-eye and chocolate pudding for €30 - and I really enjoyed all three. Seemed like they were unable to cope with the restaurant being full as they also ran out of certain deserts.

Beware the value of the early bird menu. It is good value if you are planning on getting a steak, but if you are getting say, soup and the chicken, you only make a saving of about 50c! Though, if you're not going for the purpose of saving your cash the food here is quite good. The half chicken is a decent size, but the bangers and mash and steak would leave you hungry - definately order veg on the side, as the main on its own is very lonely looking! I was here on a Monday night and the majority of the party were disappointed with the size of the portions. Sides are about €4 each (even for a bowl of onions) which is a little steep. The baileys creme brulee is bland - very very little taste. Chocolate putting amazing. Very good atmosphere for a Monday at 6pm. The place was full! FXB is doing very well for itself.

We had an early bird dinner here on Saturday before a night out. The atmosphere was buzzing and induced a warm surge of anticipation. We weren't disappointed, my girlfriend had the chilli crab cakes which altho small were very tasty. I went for the baby back pork ribs which were finger licking good. For the main course we both opted for the rib-eye steak, medium rare & mine rare and were delighted when they were served to perfection. This was followed by dessert, my girlfriend had the warm chocolate cake with hazelnut ice cream, yummy, while I got stuck into the apple and pear crumble with vanilla ice cream, yum, yum. All in all a fantastic experience, we'll definitely be back.

Having tried FXB at Ryans the week before we went here with 4 pals for Sat nite dinner before hitting the pub. Great value early bird - we all had three courses and all returned empty plates! With steaks for 5 people - they were all cooked to perfection and mouthwatering in the extreme. Great choice of wine too and good value on the Feb offer. My only gripe is that the delish onion rings from FXB at Ryans weren't available - but we went for mushrooms side instead. Definitely recommend it - and the staff couldn't be more helpful!

Had the early bird 2 course meal here on Friday. Started with the Soup of the day Tomato & Carrot which was delicious and hot. For mains I had the Rib eye steak with chips, the steak was nice and tasty and done exactly as requested but the chips were a bit disappointing. The background music was loud and I asked them to turn it down a bit which they did without lifting an eyebrow.

It truly was a Temple Bar Thursday with lunch in a area favourite and an early bird dinner in FXB Restaurant Crow Street! 3courses for €21.95 was the offer and the food.... I could not find fault. A tasty duck liver pate to start with toasted brioche, followed by a 10oz rib eye steak served rare and a superb Baileys Creme Brulee to round it off - spot on!Friendly staff, buzzy atmosphere and KT Tunstall playing away in the background and with 25% off all wines over €30 in February, it was an even bigger treat! What I loved most was we weren't rushed off our table even though it was busy and we were on the early bird, the menu choice was still quite extensive and if you wanted to go later in the evening a slightly expanded 3course menu was on offer for the entire evening at an additional cost of €8! Well worth a visit and be sure to order the steak and since I'm a sweet tooth kinda person, I insist you try the Baileys Creme Brulee!

We ate at this restaurant on a Sunday evening and while there were delays to the service due to the unexpected arrival of a large party, the waiting staff explained this to us, apologised, kept us completely updated and offered a complimentary digestif at the end of the evening. All in all they were really pleasant. There was a really good set menu on offer for under €30 but we chose from the a la carte. Fillet and T-bone steaks were really good and the starters of smoked salmon and calamari were great. The only disappointing part was the bearnaise sauce. Dessert soon made up for that. The chocolate dessert of the day was wonderful and himself really enjoyed the pannacotta. I will definitely go back either again as a couple or with friends.

There's no denying FXB excels at steakhouse fare. My filet was cooked perfectly and the sides were full-flavoured. The service was prompt, though not terribly friendly. The atmosphere is crowded and loud with a noisy kitchen adjacent an open-plan dining room, not the most intimate setting. Don't expect to find good value at FXB, though their 3-course earlybird is worth checking out. Overall, a tasty meal in a nice part of town.

They do a really great offer here of a free bottle of house wine when you dine for two or more. Nice touch! This is great value for money, as the steaks are simply divine. Thank God some Dublin restaurants are realising that the days of ripping off the customer for good quality food are gone!

My favorite restaurant in Dublin! FXB is different from other steakhouses in the sense that they use their own meat/fish. The seats are not very spacious but not terribly cramped up either. If you go for the early bird menu which starts at 5, you're in for a treat. But if you really want to try very good steak, try the T-bone. It was one of the best I had. Their salmon was very good too, ask for it to be cooked as rarely as possible. One thing that I was disappointed about on my visit the other day however, was their service. The manager looking guy was very friendly but some of the staff looked at us as if we weren't able to afford the meal just because we were students. Very disappointing from such a decent restaurant. Other than that everything was amazing.

Stuck for somewhere to go we bit the bullet and broke a promise to ourselves and visited an FXB restaurant again. it is the same old same old but I will say this - they certainly know how to treat a steak! I partook of the carnivorous outporings of the kitchen and I loved every bit of it. My other half had fish and was disappointed but one cant please everyone. The staff were very helpful and a lot of fun but there is always something missing from an FXB and I am baffled as to what it is. Even so, I would go there every time for steak ... and nothing else.

went here at the weekend for dinner with my girlfriend. i had heard good things. i had the prawns to start and they were really quite good. she had the goats cheese tartlet which was also pretty tasty. we both went for the 10oz fillet with red wine jus for main. the steaks were cooked perfectly and really tender and quite tasty. unfortunately they were let down very slightly by the slightly lacking sides. there was nothing wrong with them but neither was there anything to get particularly worked up about. all washed down with a bottle of south african syrah which was quite decent and went well. must mention the staff who were very nice and accommodating.

Caught the early bird on a cold Friday night. Cheap as chips, two cources for under 20 quid. Himself had soup and steak and I cesear salad and haddock. Nothing wrong with any of the food really, just nothing remarkable about it either. A good pub could do as well and far cheaper. The service was friendly and the joint was empty when we entered but filling up when we left. We use to frequent a differtent FXB's in city centre years ago but left when their high standards slipped and their menu never, ever changed. Seems that two peas in a pod , do look the same. Not for returning. One has to question the integrity of an establishment when the best photo they can supply is one with the rubbish bins out front.

I went here one evening with my friend as a spur of the moment. Got there around half five was pretty empty but filled up as the evening went on. So we shared a bruchette starter and then I got the chicken and my friend got a steak. All of teh food was gorgeous and cooked to perfection. We also had a glass of wine each and shared a dessert. Would definately go back and would absolutely recommend it. It came to a total of 58euro for 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert, 2 glasses of wine and 2 coffes.

Went in at 5.30 for a quick bite to eat. Had 2 steaks, the best, so good they melted in the mouth. Duck liver to start was perfect, caesar salad was the freshest.Attentative & polite service, and good atmosphere. The best restaurant food in ages, and a superb value menu, 3 courses for €30 including steaks, seafood, vegetarian options, starters and desserts. More of this sort of thing please!

The beef is sublime !!! A friend who lived in Dublin for a while recommended FXB to us when we were visiting - I am so glad she did excellent restaurant , service & atmosphere. Claire had the crab cakes to start & they were moist & light very good indeed, I had the Carpaccio of Beef excellent meat , well hung ,full of flavour & tender - melt in your mouth. For the mains Claire had had 8oz sirloin medium rare with chips - steak was fantastic but the chips were average - you need a chunky home cooked chip with meat that good. I had the 14oz Ribeye - rare - the chef passed his concerns that this might be a little chewy rare - no need - with meat of that quality - this is still the best cut of meat for me - again the chips weren't good enough. We had some sides of sauteed mushrooms & onions that were really good. Claire had the creme brulee & I had the cheese board both were excellent All washed down with a nice bottle of Ripasso & a couple of coffees. Serves was excellent - friendly & informative without being intrusive. Excellent meal & overall experience as good as any steak I've had (& I've had a few) when are you going to open in Scotland you are missing a trick. Will be back here when I am next in Dublin. I'll say it again excellent beef.

Okay I seldom give 5 stars. So yes this is THAT good! Had T-bone here, best steak I've had in Ireland. You can just so tell the freshness of their meat. And the chefs just did such a good job that's comparable to the freshness. It's not very cheap but for the quality they offer, I would say it's a steal. My only complaint is probably that the place is a bit small. Overall, a VERY GOOD place to visit!

We got the early bird menu here on Friday evening. We both got steak and it was one of the best steaks i've had in Dublin. It was served with a delicious pepper sauce and homemade chips. The wine menu was good and very reasonable. We ordered two main courses and starters and a bottle of wine which came to just over €60. The restaurant is quite small so you need to book in advance, the staff were very friendly contributing to the lovely atmosphere.

We all ordered drinks which were 3 glasses of wine and 4 pints of beer. The waitress came over with the order the glass of wine was not barely touching half way and we were told that they didnt do pints and yet the table behind were drinking pints of guinness !,I then asked for a bottle 2 bottles of wine to get more value for money then we were told they didnt sell it by the bottle only class what a way to make money !,We had all ordered are main course's and i asked for a 10 oz steak with my surf and turf instead of the 6oz when it came out it was smaller than the 8oz, I complained to the manager and he insisted it was an 10 oz and because we had a chef dining with us he argued also it was too small for a 10 oz, The manager then advised he would bring out more meat how ridiculous is that the place was empty for a Friday night there for atmosphere was crap and the bill came to €478.00 for 6 starters 7 main course's which 2 were fish dishes and 2 bottles of house wine and 6 beers which i feel is a rip off for the service and presentation of the meal

This place does does some of the nicest steaks you will ever have. I had the fillet steak when I was taken out for my birthday. Wasn't too impressed with the rest of the menu, but the steak more than made up for it, and if you are going to a steakhouse, that is what you want.

I ate here in a group of 4 a while ago and we were all very impressed. Even though they are renowned for their steak I went with the fish special, with was red snapper and it was AMAZING. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of flavour to it. Some of my companions had the steak and it looked fantastic, cooked exactly how they ordered it. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere a little bit special, but not off the radar, price-wise.

Mixed feelings about FXB in Temple Bar. Restaurant lacks atmosphere. Even when busy but food is excellent, service generally good and very good value if you avail of Early Bird. Have eaten here and in other FXBs and have to say their steak is always superb. They have a farm in Offaly and steak is from there. I typically have it with bearnaise and chips. Lovely. I have had seafood chowder, ceasar salad and soup for starters. All very good. Have had T bone steak (special) off A la carte previously too and that was sensational but you are likely to have meat sweats for night so only for the brave! Overall positive, just a shame about atmosphere.

We opted for the Early Bird. A few from our table were running late and the staff didn't seem to mind that we went beyond the time you had to order to avail of it the Early Bird. The food was delish and very reasonably priced. It would be a little steep if you were not getting the Early Bird option but I doubt you'd be disappointed. Staff were very friendly and the placed had a very relaxed atmosphere.

Booked this as had heard that it was the best steakhouse in Dublin. Myself and my partner were not overly impressed. I had the brushetta to start which I found very dull and absolutly covered in olive oil. My partner was pleased with his starter, caeser salad, it was quite nice but nothing amazing. Main courses, we both had the steak which were the best I have ever eaten, cooked perfectly but as for the side course, we had chips which I thought tasted microwaved, they were very rubbery and some veg (which I was shocked didn't come with the steak considering the price of it) which were just okay, there was alot of butter on them which ruined the taste of the veg. The head waiter was lovely and one of the waitresses was nice but the person who brought us to our table was very unpleasant. And the waitress who served us was rude and cranky. Really did not know what their problem was as we didn't even complain about the meal because we were on a deadline as we were going to a show and didn't have time to have the food recooked. Will not be hurrying back any time soon. As for value for money, there wasn't any.

Food that just looks and tastes beautiful - the meat was perfect and the garlic mash was to die for. Very cosy restaurant great for a quiet evening meal for 2 or 4, the only downside we had was that the specials had already sold out when we got there... having said that the replacement was more than acceptable.

The food and the restaurant was very nice, but you don't get big portions you would need 3 courses to fill you. Also the steak does not come with veg, which is strange. They are also quite reasonable for wine. Would definitely recommend but go for the early bird or lunch menu

Good steak house! Food was cooked delicious I had a rump of lamb with mash and ratatouille ... it was really delicious, place was packed but food went out really fast. The service was little bit slow but probably they were too busy to serve all of the customer (I saw just two people on the floor) It wasn't my first time in FXB and it wasn't my last.

My 2nd visit to FXB was booked through MENUPAGES (its just so convenient!). Having been bowled over first time round I wondered if the bar had been set too high and could it reach the same standards on a 2nd visit? Well, I need not have feared, Scrumcious Starter, Supreme Steak, Dreamy Dessert YUM, YUM, YUM!! And all for 27euros with the early bird menu. Go on, try it....they're worth it !!

Arrived for a half eight booking only to be told it was for nine o'clock, it wasnt i have the confirmation email here, anyway im fairly laid back said right well go for a drink and be back in half an hour, we returned only to find our table was still not ready , the not so pleasant waiter took two chairs and stuck them randomly in the middle of the floor and had us sit down staring directly at a table of diners for 15 minutes, we had an apology but it wasnt effusive and i would have appreciated the offer of a free drink or similar, anyway onto the food carpacio of beef and pate on brioche for starters were divine, steak with gorgeous garlic butter was cooked perfectly but medalions of beef were fairly chewy and tasteless though with tasty sides, lovely creme brulee for dessert with a so so biscuit on the side, all in all not a bad night but service could have been a lot more pleasant

Excellent meal, excelettent service wonderful night! I went for this meal with a gang of people who all have different food preferences and each and every one of us had a great meal. If and this is a big if there are any weaknesses it is in the desserts which were nothing special especially when compared to the rest of the meal. I ordered off the early bird menu and had the pate (wonderful) and the steak (perfectly cooked) I then had the chocolate pudding (Good) Have been there before and I'll definitely go there again.

I have eaten here on two occasions - the first was fantastic, steak was cooked to perfection and wait staff very helpful and friendly. Was disappointed the second time however - steak overcooked, sides cold and waitress not the nicest in the world. Will be back again though, keen to find out how 2 out of 3 will turn out...

I've eaten steak in many a restaurant, and my god, this place is top of my list. I got a steak medium and hey presto!!! it came out medium, I also got mash with this and it was perfect, no lumps or bumps. The staff were very friendly and I had a lovely bottle of house white, fantastic is the price, 20 euro for the early bird menu. And the desserts, well I got a starter, but my partner's dessert tasted (yep I had a taste) amazing. Would recommend any day. Fantastic place.

As a huge fan of the FXB butcher shops (they are unrivalled in Dublin!) I was really looking forward to eating here and when we booked a large group for my friends stag night I was delighted. In fairness they were very accomodating and flexible as we couldn't confirm numbers to them til that afternoon but that's about the kindest thing I can say about this experience. They gave us a limited menu with us being such a large group so I plumped for the deep fried Dublin Bay prawns with lemon aioli and an 8 oz sirloin medium rare. When the prawns arrived I took one bite and instantly got a stench of ammonia off them...the Maitre'd assured me they were fresh that day but after checking them himself he agreed they smelled off big time. I was offered another starter but declined and hoped the steak would be better. It was downright embarassing having to send the food back and at first they treated me with accusational tones even though I was very reasonable about the situation. The steak then came which was ok if a little overdone but the so called bearnaise that came with it was rank...no tarragon and not a hint of a vinegar reduction...absolutely awful! It's not cheap here either so I really felt a bit ripped off and will stick to buying my steaks from their butchers and cooking them myself. All in all a very disappointing meal and no way will I be returning.

My girlfriend and I visited here recently after being impressed by the menu on the sign outside. I mean, an early bird that offers two courses for 20 quid and includes a locally sourced 10oz rib eye steak from a renowned butcher is pretty impressive. This place is all about the steak, so I'll focus on that. I ordered it medium rare and that's exactly how it came cooked (not usual in Irish restaurants where medium rare seems to come out cooked medium 9 times out of 10). It was a lovely piece of meat, and big enough to sate any carnivore's cravings. The accompanying chips were yum also, done home-style with the skins on, and nice and fluffy. To get a main course that substantial on an early bird menu is remarkable. I had a starter too, of calamari on a ginger and seed rocket salad. This was quite nice (because of a tasty alioli dressing), but the calamari was a little pale and chewy and draped on the leaves in unappetizing little curls instead of the big golden rings I envisaged. My girlfriend chose duck liver paté which came out as a huge portion, She thought it was fair enough, but not up to her usual liver connoisseur's standards. There was too much for her to finish, which I suppose is not a bad complaint. We enjoyed a 25 quid tempranillo, which I can't name off the top of my head, but drank very well. Finally for dessert, the bailey's creme brulee was nicely done and actually cracked on top, which is something of a miracle for a creme brulee in a mid-price restaurant (they normally either tear open sadly and gloopily, or break your teeth with an inch thick blackened crust). My girlfriend loved some sort of chocolatey cake thing. The room felt a little characterless, but the staff were attentive and super-friendly. This place gets a major thumbs up for unfussy, meat heavy dining at the mid-price range.

The FXB chain is responsible for the best quality meats in Dublin. They farm their own animals, have a few butchers spotted around the city & six restaurants to my knowledge. They also supply many top restaurants with their meats, if I had the list of all those restaurants; I’d eat in every one of them! All that can be said of FXB is quality quality quality quality!!!! I ate here many times and I have always cherished the experience. I'll focus on my last trip there. Arrived the second they opened (17:30) with 7 friends to tackle the early bird menu. I hadn't my huge unquenchable hunger at that hour so I opted for the very reasonably priced (€19.95) two course meal. I thought main course & dessert. My rib eye steak was delicious, cooked to perfection, it was accompanied by thick cut skin on chips that were as nice as the mash (they gave me both when I hesitated on making up my mind; how cool is that?) along with a bottle of red which name escapes me. I think the wine cost roughly €35 & tasted like it could have cost a lot more, very very tasty indeed. After that I opted for the chocolate toblerone ginger biscuit tart. If you think it sounds nice, you’re totally right! I couldn't even finish it, as much as I wanted to. Overall it’s a great restaurant; I’ve yet to encounter a mediocre dish.

Visited here with my partner in February and I have to say we were impressed. We both had steak (we picked the restaurant specifically for that purpose!) and we weren't disappointed. Had the calamari to start which was really good also. The location is tourist-centric however, and the place got quite noisy for a little restaurant (especially considering it was the 7pm sitting), but the service was excellent - prompt but not rushed and the staff were very pleasant. The quality of the food made it good value. We had a nice Saturday evening there.

Went here for our Christmas party last year. Excellent, not too many tacky decorations and the atmosphere was just right. Food was tasty with an excellent choice of meat and fish. Not for one second did we feel like a large Christmas party just been shoved in and shoved out...I would highly recommend this place for a any large get together.

Tried the early bird last week. Really good value at 20 euro for two courses. I had bruschetta for starter which was ok but nothing special but then had steak for mains and wasnt expecting alot for the price but have to say it was beautifull. They obviously have good acess to meat owning a chain of butchers. Very glad I made the visit.

Had dinner here with my boyfriend last night. This place used to be a favourite haunt of ours but I have to say, after our meal last night I won't be going back again. For starters, the price of everything on the menu has gone up by about five euro in the last few weeks. The waiter was very strange and actually sat down at our table to take our order, which i thought was unnecessary and a little bit intrusive. I had Dublin bay prawn tails to start, which were nice. For the main, I opted for the steak & seafood- this is basically steak, three over cooked scallops and six very greasy chips. I wouldn't recommend it, especially as it's €30. My other half chose the dry aged fillet steak, which was not cooked the way he asked. This used to be a great little place to eat but it seems like recently it's lost the run of itself and it really doesn't live up to the hype anymore. There are better places to eat in Temple Bar.

Having being at the FXB on Pembroke last saturday I was curious to try also this other FXB. The location is better if you have a group of people who's in town for the first time or so. The chef is as good, so in general it is as good as the other, great steaks, good wine, even if the location, the style and the service make it look a lot more easygoing and "young" than the one in Pembroke. I would recommend the first one for a small group or a couple, this one in temple bar for a larger group.

Ate here last weekend and enjoyed the meal. When booking I was informed that the table would only be available to us for 2 hours, but this was not an issue as we had to be elsewhere. We chose from the Early Bird menu and the choice of food was good, including vegetarian options, which is good from a restaurant noted for its steaks! As for the steak(robbed from my friends plate!), it was excellent as was my bangers and mash. service was good and prompt, and the bill arrived within a couple of minutes of being asked. very reasonable for two people eating three courses inclufing a bottle of wine. Would definitey recommend.

Nice steak, shame about the fries! We went for the early bird menu, which is good value at €20. My steak was very good, cooked medium as ordered, but the accompanying fries were a let down. I've been on a hunt lately for really good french fries/"frites" (NOT chips) and FXB's looked the part, thin cut from real potatoes. But they were limp and greasy, instead of crispy and crunchy (cooking oil not hot enough perhaps, or maybe just undercooked?). My dessert of chocolate tart was small but chewy & gooey and delicious (esp. when accompanied by some of my dining companion's ice-cream - it might have been a bit dry on it's own). Service was fine. I almost mentioned the fries issue, and would have if the staff had said "was everything okay" as if they REALLY wanted to know. But when it was said in the usual running-through-the-motions way, I didn't bother.

This is a great restaurant!! Overall value is fantastic. Myself and five friends recently visited on Saturday at 5:30pm just as they opened. We were presented with the early bird menu - lots to choose from for an early bird menu. We all ordered off it! I went for a steak as the main course, lets face it it's what they do best!! It was delicious and a good healthy cut of meat. Then had the most amazing dessert, gingernut biscuit chocolate thingy!!! Filling and gently killing me happily!!! Only bad thing I can say is the meet and greet guy was awfully rude, but the waiters are great so it balances out nicely

I ate here on Sunday night with my girlfriend. We had starters, main course, bottle of wine and coffee. The meal, from start to finish was of a very high quality, and the staff, we were served by a Welsh waiter, and he was very professional and efficient. The wine list is good, and the bottle we selected was very nice. It was our anniversary, and the manager sent us over a free dessert on the house, which was a very nice touch, as in Dublin it is very rare to get anything for free!! I would highly recommend you to visit this restaurant. You should leave happy.

We came in early and had the early bird menu. Definitely worth it. 3 courses for €20. The food is great and the atmosphere and service is excellent. The wine list had some great wines as well. I think the prices are too high unless you go for the early bird menu. The choices on this menu are excellent so there is no reason to want the large menu!

Popped in here last night, just missed the early bird menu which seems like good value. The selection of starters has me drooling they all sounded so good. Went with the calamari and my friend went with the goat's cheese. Both were great.Importantly we didn't feel stuffed which sometimes I find happens with starters and then you can't finish your main course. We both went with the fillet steaks, rare for me and medium rare for himself. He pushed the boat out with surf n turf addition which meant he got garlic prawns as an add on.They were delicious. Steaks were cooked exactly as they should have been. Wasn't too fond of my red wine jus so kept stealing my friend's bearnaise sauce. For desserts two Vanilla Bean creme brulees, amazing, didn't want them to end.Would recommend.

Great restaurant if you want to treat yourself & someone special. Smaller than I had imagined. Great seafood & my companion had an excellent steak which are rared on the FXB family farm. Quite busy even though it was a Tuesday night. Our server was excellent throughout the meal & i enjoyed the Sea Bass special which he had recommended.

I was having dinner at FXB on Monday night 13th with seven of my friends for my Birthday. It was fantastic I couldn’t have asked for more, I had the scallops for starter so tender and the Lamb cutlets for main the lamb was cooked just how I had asked and melted in my mouth. The atmosphere was great staff was friendly I had a great night thank you.

The food here was extremely high quality and the service was outstanding. Beautiful fillet steak. Highly recommended! A little pricey but you get what you pay for.

Dined here with a business colleague on Thursday evening. Overall we were both impressed. The food was delicious and the wine superb. Service was good but I did feel it was overpriced. A steak was €32.00 but didn't include veg. Now I think that's just mean! My only other gripe was at the end of the evening while settling the bill with credit card; I was asked (or told that the Credit Card machine asked!) was I including a tip. I replied no because I was leaving the tip in cash but I just didn't like the fact that I was asked. Overall, good food but a little pricey/cheeky for my taste.

Ate here recently on a Saturday night and surprised to find it quiet. We had only booked on the previous Thursday and after that we were kinda expecting a let down but no, food, service & wine were excellent. Had an early enough sitting and were not asked to "vacate" by 9. If you are a steak lover and don't want to pay Shanahan prices this is the place for you!!!!

The ideal restaurant if you want to go for a good steak. Having seen a review of the restaurant on the City Channel, it looked appealing. I tried the Rib eye steak for the 1st time and wasn't disappointed. Going with a group of lads we all opted for one of the various steaks they offered and the T-Bone got the thumbs up. I had the calamari for starters. Although always weary it will be rubbery, the calamari was just right. Service was good, portions spot on, no complaints here.

Had a cracking meal here on Saturday. We hadn’t booked but were starving and really fancied a steak. The manager took our number and had a table ready for us after a quick pint round the corner. On our return he was genuinely concerned that we got fed asap. Our steaks were really worth the wait, the best I've had by a mile! Lovely staff and exceptional food. A winner all round me thinks.

My wife and I ate here at the weekend whilst on a short break to Dublin. I can now see why the reviews are so mixed as we ourselves had a mixed experience! There is no option on here for 2.5 stars so I'll say it scraped 3 stars. The good...the food was very nice, very hot and promptly delivered. We were tended to throughout and a couple of the waiting staff were very polite and keen to make sure we had everything we needed (The 2 stars are for those 2 guys as I will explain in a minute). And now the bad. Was told we could only have the table for 2 hours, which is fair enough, but the restaurant was barely half full all the time we were there. We were directed to our table which we wanted to change but were told that we couldn't due to the restaurant layout (only 2 of us!!!), plus the table we wanted, and many others were unoccupied for the whole time we were there :-s More bad. 2 of the waiters were good - friendly and attentive (short blonde hair and curly brown hair if you're interested!), but the waiter who seated us was over-familiar and to be honest a bit offensive. Same with the on-duty manager. Without being too specific, it seemed like everything was a problem to these two guys and they might want to consider a career change if they' re not happy with their current jobs if you know what I mean. Steaks weren't quite done as requested - (asked for Medium Well and got Medium), although I didn't dare ask the manager for a change as I might have been even more of a burden. :-/ To be fair they were very nice though, and all the other food was very good. Value was reasonable considering it's Dublin - we found that Wine was generally very expensive in all the restaurants and that's what pushes your bill up. So to conclude, if you can take a chance on the service, you won't be disappointed with the food!

I love this place, would eat here often and it's always fantastic. Food is excellent and service is unfaultable.. (Is that a word?) The staff are by far the friendliest I have come across and always remember me when I go back. I'm a fussy git when it comes to food but always find something on the menu. Highly recommended for quiet dinners or groups!

Not as good as Pembroke, but it's still a very good restaurant. Was here on Saturday with my partner and another couple and we all had starters, mains & desserts! No complaints, service was good, steaks were cooked to perfection and the shortbread with strawberries was the best (much better than the chocolate!) Although I prefer the restaurant on Pembroke Street for its comfy seating and more relaxed atmosphere I will be back to Crow Street

I found this restaurant quite disappointing. 4 of us ate there and not one of us got the steak cooked the way we asked for it. Not only that, it felt far too expensive for a very grizzly piece of steak.

Buzzing atmosphere, great steaks, excellent service. This really is what a good restaurant is about. The location is ideal and the food is to die for. The menu is varied and caters to almost all tastes- even my uber-fussy mother-in-law loves it here! The daily specials are definitely worth a go and the wine list is great. On a Saturday night, the place is absolutely hopping and can get a little rowdy if there's a match or a bank holiday but it is Temple Bar!

I went for an early bird here, and was very impresses. The soup was lovely, and the steak was amazing, great texture. The pepper sauce with it was perfect. Service was very helpful and friendly, and price was very reasonable.

For anyone that likes steaks then this is a must eat in restaurant! I had the early bird menu and it is great value! Food was delicious and the service was top notch. It was pouring rain the day we ate there and the waiter even went out in the rain and walked up to the main street to pull a taxi for people. He was a real gem!

Fab food. Quite pricey but was there for the early bird on Tuesday and it was absolutely fab. Only twenty euro for 2 courses or else 23 for 3 courses. Definitely go there.

If it's steak you're after this is where to go! The surf and turf is particularly good. The atmosphere is extremely different from their Pembroke Street Branch, a lot more relaxed and is a great place for an after work treat.

My husband and I ate here last night. It was very busy. We had our table booked for 8.30pm and were delayed given the awful weather. There was no problem. The food was great; I had the beef medallions and my husband the fillet steak. Desert speciality was chocolate roulade, scrumptious...The restaurant was a little chilly though which was a bit of a pain. We'll definitely be back.

Had dinner here for the first time last night and it was just lovely. It was my first time there and I will definitely be recommending it. The staff were delightful, very knowledgeable and although the place was very busy we were looked after with care and attention. The food really is top notch. We both had fish although I believe it is for their steaks that they are renowned. I'll be back!

Why is it so difficult to get a medium-rare steak anywhere in Dublin? FXB on a Friday night is no exception — the usual story, order medium-rare, get medium. The other dishes were better – delicious goat's cheese tart to start; the salmon main was good, if a tad on the bland side; and the desserts (Bailey's chocolate mousse and lemon & lime brulee) were perfect. The interior is cosy with nice soft lighting and comfortable seating but, as usual, too many tables in too small a space. The acoustics aren't great, so expect to have to shout at your date if you're sitting anywhere near a table of more than two. Which you inevitably will be. Service was excellent, despite a grumpy waiter telling us he'd "given our table away" when we first arrived. We had actually phoned ahead to let them know we were running a little late, however, and so we were quickly issued another table and a new waiter who was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. All in all, a decent place, but a little on the expensive side to not be too critical about it.

Fancied a steak on Tuesday night so and had heard good reports about this place. The restaurant was almost full but they managed to fit us in thankfully. I really loved the menu here and the food really does live up. Our waitress was so helpful and patient with all of our questions, top marks, as they clearly hadn’t expected such a busy night with just her and a manager on the floor. We had calamari. Definitely the best I've had outside of Spain and scallops to start, Beautifully presented dishes and so tasty. I had a fillet steak. Cooked to perfection just as I'd ordered. My friend had the sea bream, which was equally delicious. No room for dessert but we enjoyed two of the best Irish coffees afterwards. This restaurant really delivers on every level. A truly enjoyable meal with attentive but not in your face service. I'll be back.

We arrived on a bustling mid Friday night & were warmly greeted and shown to our seats. The food turned out to be delicious & potions were huge. We had the mussels (a great big bowl full) and a goat’s cheese tart with pistachio nuts to start, which were heavenly. Of course, we had steaks, I had an 8oz fillet with lovely creamy mash & pepper sauce & my fella enjoyed a huge 14oz Rib eye with some amazing Cajun crispy onions on top, both I might add were cooked to perfection (too many restaurants over cook these days). Service was great, staff were friendly yet professional & more than happy to answer my questions with a smile on their face. We will definitely be back!

Arrived at 21:45 on a Monday night, 'are you still open for a table?' I asked, nervously, fully aware of the time. 'Of course, not a problem, can I take your coats, etc... resting my nerves at ease. My partner couldn't help notice the open kitchen and inside chef slinging down her oven cloth and cursing our late intrusion to her early finish. We should have left there and then as what followed was quick, rushed, impolite service and average food 'knocked out' at a frightening pace, the waiting staff were standing with our mains as our starters were removed from the table... We didn't inconvenience the poor lot for a dessert.

The early bird menu is amazing value! A three course meal which is guaranteed to fill you up and make you happy is just 23.95. The organic wild mushroom and truffle risotto with grilled vegetables has to be one of the best vegetarian dishes I've ever had in a restaurant. The salmon was a bit unimaginative, but nice. The starters are huge! By dessert I've been full but have managed to try both the pear, plum and blackberry crumble and the chocolate pave (a brownie, basically) which both were nice. The atmosphere and the service are relaxed but stylish.

Managed to get a table here quite late on Saturday night. The place was hopping. The manager recommended the T-bone steak, which arrived, cooked perfectly, medium rare. My wife, a fish lover who admits to being hard to please was waxing lyrical about her dover sole. Even the veggies were that bit special, carrot and parsnip puree, mmm comfort food! Again my arm was twisted and I had a fruit crumble for dessert. Deelish! And finally the test of any formidable restaurant, the do great coffee. Over all, great food, not cheap but worth it, warm and professional service (hard to find these days) and despite some overly rowdy English rugby fans great atmosphere.

Maybe we just caught them on a bad night but I think we should have left when the waiter scowled at us while showing us to our table. We had come in for the early bird however we weren't offered an early bird menu and had to ask for one however our waitress was adorable and was happy to fetch us some. Things continued downhill however when our so-crispy-it-hurt-our-mouths bruschetta arrived and got no better when our steaks graced our table a few moments after finishing our starters. The steaks were just gristle and fat. We probably should have complained but we didn't really feel they'd care in the slightest.

After an initial dodgy experience with this place a year or so ago where they had no record of my booking for 8 people when we turned up (most inconvenient for the visitors), I decided to try again and wasn't disappointed this time. For the most tasty and best cooked steak, my partner rates their steak as second overall (worldwide) and not just on one visit. We also found our favourite wine (St Clair Marlborough) in this restaurant. I agree that the service can be a little snobby but they are very attentive and knowledgeable. A lovely evening for a treat and a lovely atmosphere. Nice

I found this to be an excellent restaurant in an incredibly busy area unlike its neighbour Tante Zoes, FXB is a really chilled out place to eat on a Saturday night. There were two of us my husband had steak (as always) and I had duck it was both extremely tasty and there was plenty of it. The veg which accompanied was mouth watering and the entire atmosphere was excellent. Brilliant staff too have been recommending to everyone since I ate there.

A welcome change from the mediocre mediterranean restaurants of temple bar, FXB Steak & Seafood on Crow st is a charming and cosy eaterie and on food and service it at least matches anywhere I have eaten in Dublin. The emphasis here is on quality ingredients; top notch steaks and Irish seafood. The service is warm and very efficient and on the several times I have dined here I left truly satisfied. These guys know what they are doing so check it out. A rare gem.

I have eaten in many of the best places in Dublin and I think FXB's provides excellent value for money. When it comes to steak it’s almost impossible to beat Shanahans, although at 40 Euro just for a steak alone it is very expensive. FXB however provide excellent quality organic steak from their own farm for a fraction of the price. The medium rare fillet would be my choice and I reckon at this price its one of the best meals available in Dublin. Watch out for the chips though - they are usually hotter than the sun ;-)

This place is more about Quality than quantity. The food was lovely (except for the dodgy chips that were cooked in dirty oil). The steak was gorgeous but very small and very expensive. Do not go here if you are feeling hungry. It would be a good place to impress somebody. Service a bit snobby but not the worst I have experienced.
