2.5 Talavera Restaurant 2.5 star review:
Went here for my Birthday recently. I have reviewed this place before, but they have taken away the buffet... and I had a voucher. Well, the food was only so-so. The Beef carpaccio was pretty awful - salty out of a packet. with extra foliage. Pasta was only OK, and really, really missed the buffet. The atmosphere was terrible - loud hotel guests were let be, well, loud, and the servers varied form lovely to disinterested. Not going back, which is a pity. Why did you take away the very plane antipasta buffet?

5.0 Talavera Restaurant 5.0 star review:
I had been promised a true Italian experience at this restaurant and it more than lived up to its award winning status. This was by far the most authentic Italian meal I’ve had since I visited Cascina Papa Mora in the hills of Cellarengo Italy. I was reminded of the wonderful regional dishes I’ve enjoyed so many times in Italy. The dining room, though in the basement, was airy and comfortable and had a simple elegance. The service from the start was impeccable and subtle. Our waitress brought hot focaccia bread with cherry tomatoes straight out of the oven. On hearing we liked Italian cooking the head chef Giancarlo sent out Polpette di Melanzane, an aubergine fritter with smoked mozzarella in the centre. This is street food in parts of Italy. I followed this with a truly memorable Burrata, creamy mozzarella cheese with marinated tomatoes perfectly seasoned with crushed black pepper, sea salt and fresh basil. Another highlight was the risky risotto with radicchio, it turned out to be delicious. The baked salmon with sun blushed tomatoes ordered by my companion was also a hit. A generous selection of roasted new potatoes and vegetables accompanied her dish. This restaurant offers some of their dishes in starter portions as well as mains which is fantastic if like me, you prefer a tasting menu to a large plate of the same thing. I also tried the linguine with pesto and cherry tomatoes. The flavours were fresh and exciting and I wasn’t surprised to hear the chef has a herb garden outside. The selection of wines available by the glass was impressive and in true Slow Food style, I was able to pair the wine with the dishes. The Pinot Grigio Trentino was wonderfully aromatic and the cabernet sauvignon/sangiovese red was delightful. There was room for only a few spoonfuls of the lovely cappuccino tiramisu. This hotel has a little gem in this restaurant and its staff. The passion and love of cooking is evident in the food and service. I cannot wait to go back there.

5.0 Talavera Restaurant 5.0 star review:
It was a choice we did not regret and an opportunity to discover a gem of a restaurant. The atmosphere was very cosy and the soft backround music made the dinning and conversation feel very personal and homely.Firstly,I am going to take this opportunity to review not so much the food as I am the service,as I sometimes feel these menu reviews do the staff of Dublin restaurants no justice. The attention to detail by Talavera staff members was exceptional. Wewere attended initally by a young waitress who's manners and politeness were befitting to an establishment like the Raddison, I did not catch her name. Our food was then presented by the manager who immidately impressed with an eloquence of style particularly the way in which he subtly corrected the position of our cuttlery and wine glasses while diverting our attention away from his actions by explaining the contents of the menu, the origin of the various foods, the manner in which they were cooked and how the would be presented. We dinned based on his recommendations and he did not dissapoint even with his suggested choice of wines. My partner ate a buffolo mozzarella and plum tommato starter and it was apparent from the first cut that it was a very high qualtity cheese. I ate carpaccio a light meat based starter. Both dishes were perfect, their presentation, portion of size and flavor.
For mains we ate steak and fish and this is the reason I compliment the manager so well, his choosing of the wines really made the flavour of the food so much more enjoyable.during the meal I watched the interaction of this young man with fellow dinners and noted how he along with his staff added to dinning experience in a very calm and positive way, this is a quality you do not always see I'm
Dublin based restaurants. So thank you to Talavera, their kitchen staff, floor staff and particularly the young Italian manager. We will be back

4.0 Talavera Restaurant 4.0 star review:
We got a gift of a night’s stay plus dinner in the Raddison so we booked in to have a relaxing break over xmas. The restaurant decor is a little dated and not as inviting as other parts of the hotel. Most tables for 2 were busy so we were put in a room at the back which was empty and therefore void of atmosphere. The service made up for these flaws however as the staff didn’t forget us and was very attentive to our needs. The gift we got was a set menu of 3 courses each. We even got bread whilst waiting which was fresh and tasty with lovely Mediterranean flavours. We got still water which was not from a tap and I was convinced we were going to be charged extra however I was proven wrong the next day when there was no additions to the bill. I had soup to start which was tasty and lovely with the bread. My partner had steak for mains and I had the Salmon and both were well cooked and accompanied by simple homemade sauces and veg. They provided a generous helping of vegetables on the side which were delicious. Our meal came with a glass of wine each and it was delightful to have a choice rather than just red or white and the waitress recommended a lovely light wine to accompany our meal. Although our meal came with dessert we were too full and just opted for tea. However the waitress brought out a plate of cookies to accompany the tea which was a really lovely touch. The hotel is really nice and we enjoyed a few extra glasses of wine by the fire in the bar. If I was in the area again I would definitely return.

FABULOS!!! I went there with few friends and the place is amazing, classy and cozy at the same time. The food was delicious, prices were reasonable and staff was very professional and friendly. We were especially impressed with The restorant manager; he really looked after us and helped us to choose the right wine for our meal which was very good. Beef was high quality and cooked to perfection, risotto with scallops and prosecco was yum. Prices were very reasonable. The hotel itself is amazing and looks like a museum, the garden is great as well. Will definitely be back.

We enjoyed a good value meal here at the weekend. The restaurant itself is a little dated but the staff were friendly and chatty. We ordered from their set menu and couldn't argue with the price. My tomato and mozzarella starter was generous and creamy. The lamb main course was bursting with flavour and accompanied by plenty of veg. My chocolate dessert was a little generic but chocolate mousse is chocolate mousse, so I can't complain! We were the last in the dining room but did not feel rushed to finish. We left very full and having had a lovely night.

Went to Talavera last week for the first time in ages, as they have changed their menu in the last two months.I must admit it was sitting in Tuscan Italy all over again. It was fantastic, the food was real italian cuisine which id hard to find outside Italy.
The staff were very pleasant and freindly, chatting away and even went the extra mile to make our family night oout, extra special.
They even have offers on for lunch and dinner, i think its four course lunch for 27 euro and dinner for 32 euro and you get a free bottle of wine.
Highly recommened this place for a nice plesant nite out with great food, wine and atmosphere.

Nice restaurant as hotel restaurants go. Had delicious carpaccio of beef to start followed by a seafood pasta dish that reminded me of the summer. Staff were friendly and attentive. Lacks a little in atmosphere.

Average......at best. Four of us ate here last night staying in the hotel and ordered off the set menu. Soup was tastless, my pasta starter dish was similar to those ready made pack sachets of pasta. The mains were a little better ( the Salmon was nice ) but my own chicken in pancetta sauce was a pub cavery dish in my opinion. Sides were 7 small roast potatos between 4 of us and a plate of luke warm veg.The pork roulade was again something you find in any pub carvery at lunch time. Service was slow and seemed to come from whoever wasnt doing other jobs in the hotel. Dissapoining all round.
