Was in town with my family (5 adults & 1 child) on Christmas Eve and tummies were rumbling. Couldn't find anything open at 6.30 so headed home on the Luas & dropped into O'Dwyers. The place was jumping, exceptionally busy in the restaurant but they squeezed us in and were very accommodating. No delay in servinging up the high standard of great quality 'pub grub' which we are used to both here and Stillorgan Orchard (sister pub). You can't go too wrong with this great 'local'.

I had a quick lunch here on a Friday with some work colleagues. We all ordered something different and overall the feedback was very positive. I had a goats cheese parcel on a bed of salad, which was delicious. The waiter who served us was very efficient, it was busy and he was very prompt with menus and orders. He also was very friendly and generous with the post meal chocolates! I think it worked out about €10 per head, and there was an option of a complimentary coffee after the meal if we wanted it, a nice touch, all in all a nice Friday treat when escaping the office for a spot of lunch!

just back from lunch here with my work colleagues. i got the seafood chowder and i'm sorry to say that i was not impressed at all...i'm not fussy at all but this was just horrible. the "fish" was slimy and tasteless and the bread was hard so didn't eat it. saying that i have eaten here before and my meal that time was delish and my 3 work colleagues thoroughly enjoyed theirs - empty plates were left. i'll certainly go again but will steer clear of the chowder!

Went to O’Dwyers yesterday to celebrate Arthur’s day with the work crew. 4 starters, mains and desserts with a bottle of wine for €100 you obviously can’t go wrong. The service was a little poor with barley two waiting staff but the food was pretty good and exceeded expectations. Good atmosphere with the band playing downstairs (because of Arthur’s day). I will certainly go back for cheap good food.

Had lunch here on Sunday as we knew they showed the Formula1. The food was delicious, perfect hangover cure. Chicken Tenders with chips were gorgeous and a huge portion size. The mixed basket has everything you could want in it: wings, sausages, wedges, prawns, brie and probably more which I can't remember. Great place for a bit of pub grub.

Had lunch here today with work colleagues. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed what they ordered, I got cod goujons and they were really good. The lunch menu is only €9.95 and theres a good choice, you get a drink and tea/coffee with it so you cant go wrong here. Service is quick and friendly.

Myself and my colleague went for lunch on Monday. I ordered the pie which was beef & mushroom on the day, it was really tasty and great value at €7, my friend had the chicken curry with rice and chips and declared this to be a hit too. There is a wide variety of dishes on the menu and some interesting specials, importantly the meals came out really quick so I would highly recommend it if you work in the area and want a tasty bite to eat at lunchtime.

I came here the other night with my parents for the first time in ages. I had just finished my finals so I was pretty tired and just in the mood for a relaxing dinner, and that's just what we got. The restaurant is in a pub but the food is far from pub grub. We were eating from the special offer €10 menu. I got the Asian chicken noodles which were lovely. We got three main courses, two glasses of wine two soft drinks and a dessert for about €50 and it was all wonderful. The service was very friendly and the food came out really quickly. I'd highly recommend it.

This is my local and I have to say, without being biased, that it is one of my favourite places to eat. Upstairs as the feel of a restaurant without the prices. The food is tasty, has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are so nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend it!

This is somewhere I've been many times before and will continue to return to for various reasons. When eating out with my father, the prerogative is a well-lit place. A table by the window here fits the bill perfectly. As most of the tables are near a window that's never a problem. Another important factor is a service staff that will listen attentively to his remarks, comments & anecdotes and not turn to me as though begging me to stop him ranting on at them. As if satisfying both of these conditions were not enough O'Dwyers do good food too! A reasonable selection of well-presented dishes, cooked well. My sirloin steak was beautifully cooked as I had asked for rare and it came rare. Pepper sauce on the side nicely presented and lovely thin chips. The started we both chose from the menu was the seafood chowder but as this was not available they conjured up a deep-fried brie for me and gave us two other non-menu options. All the above at a reasonable price and in a very well finished setting.

Am a regular visitor to O'Dwyers, usually for lunch but have also tried their breakfast. It is by far the best pub in the area and I would find it hard to fault them. The atmosphere and decor (especially upstairs) are lovely and the service is second to none. The menu is varied and the food is tasty. They do a great childrens menu too.

This used to be one of my favourite local places for something to eat. Unfortunately it seems to have gone down in standards and from the plastic banner advertisement outside, profit must be down for them. The food is average, but the descriptions in the menu are not accurate, for example their curry and basmati rice comes with plain rice. The wine selection isnt great for a restaurant either, its as restrictive as a pub's range of 1/4 bottles! They used to do great desserts such as carrot cake (my personal favourite!) and other chocolate ones but it seems that they have reduced their variety. The atmosphere in the place is good around christmas and I hope in 2009 they will bring up their standards again.

Four of us had lunch here today. Starters were the soup, fried brie, caesar salad and chowder - caesar salad was described as superb, soup and fried brie were lovely, and the seafood chowder was delicious. Three of us had the steak sandwich with fries and side salad and the other diner had the chicken wrap - couldn't fault a thing. Two of us indulged in dessert, the bread & butter pudding and the rhubarb crumble, both were nicely presented and delicious. Staff were friendly and efficient, food was great value for money, 4 x starters, 4 x mains, and 2 x desserts for €80. We'll certainly be back!

Are some people talking about the same place? O'Dwyers Kilmacud Rd, is the best pub grub I have ever come across. We eat there once or twice a month and could not fault the food. It is amazing a little more expensive that you would expect for pub food but it is worth the money for the quality you get. I think people are giving it bad reviews so that it wont get too popular.

I have eaten in O' Dwyer’s in the past and found the service to be very very slow. I had lunch here on Saturday and it was much improved. We didn't wait long at all. The food was fine-nothing amazing but my Bruschetta was very tasty. I would go back.

Used to be a regular here however frequent menu changes/staff changes/price increases meant I stopped going so often. After a few bad experiences of late we gave this place one last shot last Friday night. And it will be the last time. This place serves average pub food at city centre restaurant prices. The menu is far too long and complicated. Tries to be more than a pub restaurant and fails. No consistency in the food whatsoever. Microwaved veg and potatoes, which is a disgrace at the prices, they charge. Overheard the couple beside us complaining about the prices too. They only thing the place has going for it is the service which I must say was very friendly and efficient on the night and amazing Irish coffees but unfortunately that’s just not enough to get us back again. Might return for a drink but not food. The Dublin dining culture has changed; people want value for money and simplicity. They will not be ripped off; its time O'Dwyers realised this.

I live near O'Dwyers and it's a pub I love, great place for a drink and it's revamp of a few years back has stood the test of time. But I must say I can't work out the food end of things and as a result I don't know when I'll eat there again. About 2 months ago on a Sunday afternoon I venture in there with the family.. I find a decent pub brunch type menu, everyone is happy with what they get and the value is decent...grand job. So during the week Mrs. good not great's birthday comes around and we head down with friends. The food was dreadful...the guy running the upstairs is very good in fairness...one meal had to go back as the chicken was burnt black. My own Singapore noodles didn't come close to the product of the same name sold in M+S for a third of the price...I stopped eating halfway through because I was so bored I was about to fall asleep in my food. The 4 million Singaporeans who inhabit the Island State should sue for defamation. Our guests made nice through the ordeal but I now hear that one rang on Thursday to complain. So if you are thinking about eating hear ring first to ask who is on in the kitchen...the good chef or the not good chef?...shouldn't be this way should it?

I gave up eating upstairs in O'Dwyers about a year ago or more. Restaurant prices for poor pub grub too many times. I still drink there, it's my local. Last Wed I was invited to eat upstairs (It was our friends who were treating us). 3 of us had starters and all 4 of us had mains. I don't know where to begin, because the food was that bad. I only tasted one of the starters; it was bruschetta ordered by my wife, and positively awful, just a whole load of melted slop on bread that was so soggy it cannot have been classed as bread at that point. Of the main courses, I went with a special of 4 mixed meats, the chef managed to overcook every one of them by a good 15 mins. But by far the worst were the 3 other mains, all of which were of Asian origin (supposedly) 2 Thai red curry's (which were grey in colour) and a Singapore noodles. One was sent back immediately because the chicken pieces were actually burned to a state of charcoal, the other was just not finished. The veg parts of the curry's had just disintegrated to a slop. None of the curry's/noodles got anywhere close to tasting of anything remotely again in influence, a mild taste of coconut at best. We complained to a point (I only made a general complaint, we were being treated by a friend so I didn't want to cause any embarrassment), I understand that nothing was taken off the bill. It was clear that whoever was doing the cooking that night, wasn't a chef, maybe a man in a chefs hat, maybe even an occasional canteen cook, but that is doing a service to many excellent canteen cooks. I know plenty who have eaten in O'Dwyers and think it OK, but I've yet to get that experience, and while many locals continue to give it their custom, if you like your food to good restaurant standards, beware.

Have been for lunch many times, went on a Monday around a week ago, there was only one server & one bartender, we ordered & waited 25 minutes, I got what I asked for but my friend did not, the server did not explain why the other meal was wrong or how long it take...when we asked the bartender he said it would not be long....we left as we were on lunch & had already wasted the guts of 40 minutes. I was very surprised by the lack of service, I might take the advice of others & order ahead.....but why should I when I can go elsewhere & be served promptly.

We ate at the upstairs restaurant O'Dwyers 2. It was a very nice, classy restaurant with good food and good decor. The fish with crawfish sauce was delicious and seasoned perfectly, and the black pepper beef was tender and tasty. It is a great date restaurant and we'll definitely be coming back.

A group from the office would frequent O'Dwyers on a Friday lunchtime for a treat. The chicken tenders are the yummiest I've ever tasted. Served with chips and sweet chilli sauce, delicious. Only downfall is your food can take awhile and result in to strolling into the office a lil bit after 2pm so of late we've been ringing in our order and its ready by the time we get there. Fab service, I would definitely recommend for lunch and would consider trying it for dinner soon too.
