Tried the early bird menu here which was fantastic value and had loads of choice. The food was delicious, the service was also very good. The restaurant has very funky decor and a great athmosphere. Even though we were there before 7 we were very lucky to get the last table as we had not booked. Will deinitely be going back here.

Ate here last night with 2 friends and was very impressed, the food was really good, i had the fish of the day which was cod on a really nice mash with veg on side while both my friends had turkey and ham which they really enjoyed, service was good too and not too long to wait which i was surprised at as there was a christmas party going on while we were there, only small gripe is i feel €25 is little expensive for 2 course-starter and main or main and desert but otherwise great service food and setting.

Greens always delivers with atmosphere, food, service and value. My husband myself and 2 teenagers had dinner from earlybird menu, which is 21 euro pp. It was a Wednesday night and still very busy which must be good sign. We skipped dessert as I thought an extra 7.50 was a little expensive. We really enjoyed the night.

Decided to give this place a go based on raving reviews from friends and family, and i have to say, i really loved it. It's such a quaint little place. We decided to go with the early bird menu. My boyfriend had the butterly prawns and I had the chicken liver pate. For mains we both had the chefs special pork. Every course was more delicious than the previous. I am definately going back here for the next occasion I can think up! :)

This was our second visit to Greens and we wondered if it would live up to our expectations from our previous visit. We weren’t disappointed. I love the style of the place although like the last time it was a little quiet, but there was still a nice atmosphere. The staff were excellent, very professional and welcoming. We went for the 4 course Sunday Lunch menu which offers great value at just €25. Food presentation was excellent and portion sizes were just right. We had a very enjoyable meal and are looking forward to our next visit.

We had a girl’s night out here on Friday, I can’t recommend this restaurant enough it is perfect for girl’s night, or a nice cosy meal for two. They have an offer on at the moment which includes all night on Friday 21 Euro for two courses including tea or coffee. The girls loved what they had to eat the menu is excellent the food is fresh and tasty and the staff very friendly. Try it and see for yourself.

Myself and my boyfriend eat here quite often, the food is always great and the staff are nice especially the main male waiter, he always has a smile on his face which is always nice to see in a restaurant. We came here to have the early bird which is great value at €21 for starter and main course or dessert and main course with Tea or coffee. I had the chefs starter which was crab in ravioli and my boyfriend had the parsnip which was very tasty. For main course I could not decide between the minute steak or the chicken but in the end I went for the chicken and it was lovely, it came with a choice of potato so I asked for mash. My boyfriend got the chefs main course which was cod and he was very happy with it. We didn't get dessert and we actually think the dessert prices are very expensive at €7.50, I would like to see them bring down the dessert prices as we would like to try some of the desserts they have on the menu. All in all though we really enjoyed our meal and will certainly return as the early bird is great value.

Went to Greens a couple of weeks ago with my Dad and my brother a couple of weeks ago. Have to say I really enjoyed it. The food was fantastic. We went for the set menu which is an amazing 21 euro each. The food and service was very prompt but I did think the staff seemed very hassled. They seemed to me to be short staffed. Deffinitely recommend it.

We arrived late in the afternoon and the restaurant was not busy. We were offered a slightly confusing choice of 2 or 3-course "deals" which differed from what was written on the menu (and the "deals" turned out to be dearer than ordering separately - go figure!). For Eur 25 one got a 2-course meal and the food was very average. Mains were served and the waiter disappeared without asking if there was anything else needed; there was, so I had to leave the table and go in search of someone. The young staff appeared to be very poorly trained. During the meal, no-one checked if everything was ok, and when we called for the bill, they had neglected to include deserts on the bill. When I indicated that they had UNDERCHARGED us (how many people do that?) I was treated impatiently, like a troublesome customer, and - with a sigh - a corrected bill was presented.

A group of us decided to visit Greens restaurant after a recommendation from a friend, and we were not disappointed. The staff greeted us with a smile and showed us to a table at the back in a quiet corner as we had a young child with us. All aspects of the menu were fantastic with something for everyone including the little one. The meat was top class and cooked to perfection, with side orders full of flavour. We had all been looking forward to dessert but as we had been a little greedy a coffee was all we could manage, but will know better next time, and try a little something for afters.

Early bird menu is very good in this restaurant, the food is excellent and staff are extremly friendly. The desert in this place are out of this world. Coffee is also the best from the local Mahers coffee suppliers. Would good here again, More so in the summer where you can sit down outside near the water fall.

Met friends here for dinner recently and was very pleasantly surprised. The menu is great with something to suit nearly everyone. They had a deal for 21 euro pp inc starter and main or main and dessert. We opted for the full 3 courses and were not disappointed. I also had a glass of chilean wine which was delicious. We all agreed the food was delicious. The service was friendly and we all loved the decor. I will hopefully be back again.

Went out last night with some old buddies and arrived to full restaurant. We had not booked as being Monday we thought would not be busy. Maitre D was under a lot of pressure as normally very quiet but over 50 guests turned up much to their surprise. They looked after us so well and so efficient as not too many staff on hand being monday. Food top quality and delicious and very hot. Service brilliant and so friendly. Early bird for only €21 excellent. We left at 11pm and totally enjoyed our night out. Will be back Thank you.

We met up with friends here to have a meal, it is so long since we visited this restaurant. The atmosphere was quiet and yet there were plenty of diners in the restaurant, we had a nice corner all to ourselves. The food was excellent, plate after plate we all enjoyed ourselves and we all agreed that we will be back there soon. Thanks again to the wonderful staff who looked after us all.

Myself and the missus ate here a few weeks back after reading the review here on menupages. It is very local to us so we decided to stroll over for dinner. The atmosphere was fairly muted with the vast majority of the diners being elderly but I think it added to the feel of the restaurant which was nice and quiet and relaxing. We had goats cheese and scallops to start which were both delicious. I had the steak for mains which was lovely and cooked extremely well, herself had the sea bass which she enjoyed too. All in all a nice quiet place for a nice bite to eat. Nothing special but worth a visit

I ate here recently with my boyfriend. It was a Saturday night but the place was fairly quite although that didn't detract from the atmosphere too much. The service is quite formal but very good. We didn't order starters but the mini loaf of bread and slice of Giunness brown bread were perfect! We both had a steak. (There were two kinds on the menu but we fancied one steak with the side dishes of another and that was no problem for the kitchen!) The steaks were beautiful, as were the chips, pepper sauce and veg. Desert was just as nice, as was the wine! Will definately be back

I ate here last saturday night with my daughter and friend. We eat here regularly and always enjoy the experience. The food was excellent and the staff very attentive and pleasant. As it was a Saturday night the restaurant was very busy but despite this we had excellent service. We will be back again.

I went to Greens last Saturday with my partner. We decided to take Early Bird Specials menu for €21. It was pretty quite but I guess it was early too. Service was fantastic. Very quick and extremely friendly. An excellent meal for the price. I'd definitely go back!

Last Friday we wanted to see the nearby Carousel Bar so we visited Greens for a bite to eat first. For starters we both had the Seared Scallops & Crispy Pork Belly, Hoi Sin, Cauliflower Puree scallops - it was below par with only 3 scallops and large portion of pork belly. I expected a lot better for €9. For mains I had the Sea Bass, Crab Rosti, Rocket Salad, Tiger Prawns & Café De Paris Butter Sauce, the Crab Rosti was way over cooked - so much so it looked like a burnt burger and I couldn't taste the crab, the sea bass was over cooked and there were only 6 prawns. Not worth €23. My friend had board special of 10oz sirloin steak accompanied with Triple Fried Chunky Potato Chips and Sautéed Greens which he said was very nice, at €26 it should be! We had a bottle of house white and 2 coffees. The bill cam came to €90 to which we added 10% for attentive service.

Myself and my fiance have visited Greens on a number of occasions and enjoyed it very much. However we were disappointed with our recent visit. The starters were very poor- the scallops with porkbelly came out as one flavourless scallop cut in half with a lump of fatty porkbelly. For €9 that was disgraceful. The 8oz fillet steak was again flavourless but the accompanying sides were very nice. Unfortunately we paid €28 for this and also paid €4.50 for a small bowl of chips that werent great. On the upside, the sea bass was excellent and i would highly recommend that dish. The staff were incredible. Service cannot be faulted in any way. Hopefully this review will help a great restaurant to improve when it comes to these dishes.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. We took my mother here for her 80th birthday recently & were very happy with our choice. The food was truely delicious (I had duck for my main which was the nicest I have had in years). We had 7 kids with us & the staff were really nice to them too. The owner paid our table a visit & was very friendly, chatting to us all & ensuring were were well looked after. Value for money is excellent.

Myself and my girlfriend took my parents and my in-laws to this restaurant just after Christmas. The food was exceptional and we had very good friendly service. The table was of a good size although it would have been better to have had a round table for ten rather than a long one (but I know that would be unusual in a restaurant). Atmosphere was very good and the price was very good in the main. This restaurant isn't pretentious at all yet the food was some of the best I have had for a long while. We will definitely be going back even though we live a good 40 minutes away and have other restaurants closer by. Highly recommended.

We went to Green for the second time last night and it was every bit as good as the first. I just really really love this little place. We had our table booked for 6.30 and by the time we left the place was packed and they were turning people away so if you'd like to eat here then book well in advance. The staff are amazing, omnipresent, attentive, caring - yes caring!- and not overly obtrusive. To start I had the hummus and my partner had the feta fritters. Both tasty dishes and presented very nicely. I do prefer a little more lemon in my hummus but that's just a personal preference. For mains I had the chilli chicken with spicy potatoes and salad and himself had the lamb moussaka with rice. Seriously good dishes and lots of them, we were both completely full by the time we finished. As we had to rush off we finished the meal at that point and asked for the bill. All that food came to €41! Yes, that's right, €41. You can also bring your own wine and they'll cork it for free. If you forget there's a Eurospar on one side of the restaurant and a nice off-licence on the other so you won't be stuck. So after last nights visit still holds the title of my favourite restaurant.

Had dinner here on Mothers Day. I used to go quite a lot but had not been in a while. Was happy to see that the food was even better than ever, and quite valuable for what you are getting. The staff greeting you are also very friendly. I have the corn fed chicken and it was great, and a lovely glass of wine. The mother was very happy too! I will be back again shortly!

I just had to give this place a review... Like many of its customers I have grew up going to Greens with my family for some traditional food, but the last three or four times i have been there the standard has greatly improved, not that it was ever bad! I dont believe you can get better value for money anywhere else in dublin. I had the dressed crab for starters which was complete bliss, for maincourse it was my pleasure to tuck into crispy pork belly of pork, pan seared scallops, cauliflower puree and some kind of honey and starnaise jus. I think! My partner had the chicken liver pate that was so good she seemed to make it last forever by asking for extra brioche, for mains she had crispy seabass and asain tiger prawns. We shared a pecan pie for desert which seemed very homemade. Cant wait for my next visit. Great food great service great value! A real southside gem

Service is great and friendly - the food is very good but not great - wines are over priced and overall the restaurant does not really give value for money any more - Two courses plus a glass of wine @ 26euro is in my view just a bit pricey for the type of restaurant it is - but , yes, I'll go again !

had a meal here last week and was very impressed with the quality of the food and the service. It is upstairs from the pub and the food is quite different from the bar food downstairs. We really enjoyed all the food and probably the best meal we had in that area, very reasonably priced and good service. The atmosphere a little staid but the manager was very nice and we would definitely return - a good place to bring relatives for an evening out - mainly older clientele.

We had a fantastic evening here on Saturday. This was our first visit to greens restaurant, the service was top-notch - all staff were fluent in English and had good knowledge of the menu which seems to be rare enough in most Dublin restaurants. The food really was cooked perfectly and presented imaginatively. The special - stuffed roast monkfish with chive blini, poached egg, grilled asparagus and hollandaise sauce - was one of the best dishes that I have ever eaten! For the price that the bill came to I can't think of anywhere better to dine out, we will be returning.

We are just back from an earlybird @24 euro for main course, starter or dessert and tea/coffee. Grilled Irish steak with trimmings most satisfactory. The chichen supreme with trimmings was also terrific Ambience and service great. Menu prices for evening meals however as shown on this site, is out-of-date, having increased. Four stars all round.

This is a good middle of road place, pricing good, food quality solid and a lot of it. It is not trying to be trendy, but aims at a solid family market and looks like it achieves it. Three of us were unfortunate having the quail off the specials board to start which turned up semi raw. This was probably just as well since the portion was big enough for a main, complete with stuffing and potatoes so those of us who ordered it sent it back and skipped the starter. Other starters were mussels (looked good and in nice broth my friend said they were excellent) and pate which I tried (average to nice pate but too much and the brioche was like cake and too heavy). I had a rib eye steak off the specials which was excellent, the othes having steaks were happy they were cooked as requested (even the blue one although we were warned the chef might not do it that way as some are reluctant to present basically raw steak). The waitress had recommendded extra sides which we did eat as some had no starters but might not be necessary if you want to make it to dessert! Two of us had desserts, both homemade and really excellent ( I had banoffi which I have not had for years and it was delicious) Although upstairs, they do have a smoking area on the same level so it is not such a palaver to nip out between courses. Service was solid and friendly all night, all the staff were really pleasant. This definitely has a pub feel to it but despite the quail incident we had a good night out.

I was here on Saturday for my daughters communion. The meal was booked for a party of 12. We all had starters, mains and desserts. Along with loads of side orders, few bottles of wine and other alcoholic beverages, and a number of fizzy drinks. In all the service was great (As always) the staff were fantastic and very friendly. We could even order something which was not on the menu (how accommodating) and in all the bill only came to €400 - well worth a visit.

I have been to Greens a few times now and I really enjoy the food. The service has seemed a bit rushed and the staff always seem to be stressed and rushed off their feet. The food is good but for the portions that you get it is a bit expensive.

Every Christmas I am in charge of organising a lunch for up on 25 people and I must say that last year Greens made it very easy for me. There was no problem that I wouldn't have the exact numbers until about a week before and the service I received was excellent. On the day of the meal the food was great, the service was, again, brilliant and they also reserved an area downstairs for the invariable waifs and strays who forget they have a home to go to! I would thoroughly recommend Greens for any celebration, whether it is a meal for two, or twenty-two.

I used to go here a bit but recently on a Sunday evening when we went we were so disappointed that we vowed we would never go back. We waited 10 minutes for a menu, 40 mins for someone to take our order, 30 minutes for a glass of water and had our starters over with when the wine arrived. The young inexperienced staff seemed stressed even though there were fewer than 20 diners in the whole restaurant. The food was not like it used to be, is nothing special at all. After waiting another 15-20 minutes after asking for the bill and it not showing we had to go to the counter to pay, with not as much as an apology. Never going back

Overall the atmosphere was one of busy, stress and under pressure despite the fact that the restaurant wasn’t that full. The food was acceptable although the portions unimpressive. And why bring out a tiny roll with a butter dish on a large wooden board which takes up so much room on the small tables? The service was smooth but slow and it took several attempts to secure a dessert menu and then to take the order. Re: Value for money - the misleading advertising on both the menu and the outside hoarding regarding early bird menus options is disappointing and made more so by the fact the staff appear to find the query annoying. Won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend the place. Although used to be a huge fan in the past.

My parents are real suckers for this place. Whenever there is a celebratory family outing, Greens is the first port of call. They love it there and up until recently, I never saw the attraction. In hindsight, I should have copped why. I used to love their salmon dish years ago, which has now changed to a much more run of the mill affair. We arrived for a Sunday evening menu: a very reasonable main and choice of starter or dessert combo for 25 euro. If you went for the dinner for two, it was 62 with a bottle of house white thrown in. I had the fish cakes to start with were lovely, if a tad dry. My parents and partner had the very tasty fried tiger prawns with sweet chilli sauce. I paid a 3.50 supplement for the sea bass main (garnished with a potato cake, tiger prawns & a light chilli butter). It was absolutely fabulous. It's been a while since I've eaten a dish of such quality and would highly recommend anyone to pay the frankly measly supplement. The only thing stopping the place from receiving 5 stars was the staff, who forgot about us for about 15 mins before ordering and then waited what seemed like an age to collect the credit card to pay the bill. However, as a gastronomic experience, it was first class.

Food was fairly bland but was quite reasonable at €25 for a 4 course lunch. Staff were very helpful and it's child friendly. However the toilets were quite dirty and would definitely put me off going back.

We recently visited here for my mothers 50th birthday. We had a party of 14. The food was very good but the staff were rude and very moody! It was like they hated being there and couldn't wait to finish their shift. It may be ok with a smaller party but I wouldn't recommend it if you are visiting with a large party.

I've been for a couple of meals here. The staff are really nice and the food is great. It’s nice to go to a restaurant with a cosy environment, simple yet well-prepared food that is also well priced. Will be back again.
