This place used to be a favourite of mine but has really gone downhill. Went recently for the first time in months, where as before would go once a month. Most things had been crossed off the menu and they had a new specials menu. The last few times before I had felt it had gone quiet downhill already, food very oily and sometimes felt a bit sick after with an upset tummy. This time I was very disappointed. I opted for something off the new specials menu. Waited for ages and when it arrived it was ok. The price, portion size and quality did not match. Also no extra's like a bit of bread and butter when your waiting for so long makes all the difference. I think they should re invent themselves. The actual restaurant and staff are great. The staff being the best part, but the food is a huge let down, also maybe an early bird menu or something would be will a draw for people. Hope they do change it up because I would like to return but as for now wait and see what happens.

Went here for the first time 2 weeks ago. Wasn't going to to based on some of the reviews on menupages but glad I did now. The food was really nice and the staff were very friendly. I had the swordfish and my girlfriend had the steak. She loves steak and gets it everywhere and she really liked the steak in Kafka. I had the swordfish. It was nice but I only got it because I never had it before and I can think of fish I'd prefer but the waiter did warn me beforehand it was a "meaty" fish and he was right. But it was still very nice. Prices were very reasonable and overall a really nice evening.

I don't know what has happened with Kafka but I would not choose to eat here anymore, I have been twice in the past couple of months (at other peoples request) and on the first occassion, I was astonished at how fast-food-like the food was, almost everything was deep fried and it was just not of the standard that I had thought it was in the past. It is going downhill on atmosphere too, I think this is probably b/c of the food but it used to be jammers here but now its changed. On my last visit I decided to go for something non-deep fried and it was ok but I think they need to get a new chef, some new recipes and fresh healthy food that show some level of thought and it could revive itself. Sorry Kafka but it's not working for me anymore.

I met friends here for a late lunch on Saturday and got a nice seat by the window - great for watching the world go by. I had an omelette while my friends had various toasted ciabattas with chips. Everything was delicious!! The service was excellent - our waitress was so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Visited restaurant for the first time with a party of ten for friends 30th. Great atmoshere with cool lighting and clean serfaces. Got here at 7.00 and place soon fillled up to capacity. Lovely prosecco to start that friend had organized, and soon got to order six starters which were more than enough for all: sweet chillie chicken wings with hints of fresh coriander & lime juice, brushetta with buffalo mozzarella, ine nuts and overnite tomatoes & home made prawn and vegetable spring rolls. For mains I had the lamb with aubergine and mint cous cous, cooked to perfection and the partner had fish of the day which was panseared seabream with celiriac mash and roasted wild mushrooms, lemon and basil oil dressing, it was divine.
Dessert was plum and hazelnut tart for me and poached pear in red wine with mixed berry compote and vanilla bean icecream for Madame. Yummy.
Illy cofffee and wine was a great Cotes du Venteaux reccomended by server, who together with his colleague was attentive but not over powering.
Overall a really pleasent evening and not to expensive, 37.50 for three courses (allthough we shared starters and only had five desserts), but 2 bottles of prosecco and four of wine.
Well reccomended and will be back, soon I hope.

I have been to Kafka twice in the last 2 weeks which says a lot! I went for lunch the first time (the soup & sambo deal is great value at €11.60 for a very generous portion of soup and the sun-dried tomato, artichoke, swiss cheese and hummus ciabatta was delicious!) and for dinner the second time (the chilli chicken wings were very tasty, as was the pasta dish I ordered). The atmosphere was very pleasant- lovely decor and excellent, fast service. To be highly recommended!

Always happy with my meal when I eat here. We got chicken wings to start, and there was more than enough for 3 people. They were tangy and tasty. Then got linguine with prawns in rich tomato sauce, which was delicous, and my sister got chicken and veg skewers, while my mum opted for lamb. The service was perfect - attentive but not over-bearing and the wine was lovely. Very happy with the experience.

I went here last nite and when we asked how long it would be for a table the waitress shook her head and simply said " i don't know." Rather unhelpful don't you think?!!

When we did get a a table we found it to be very cute with little candles everywhere. Staff were friendly and professional.
I had the calamari to start which took forever to be served and was very dried out.
I then had the bacon and cheese burger which was nice but nothing to write home about. In times when there are such amazing speciality burger restaurants, there is a lot to live up to. Sadly Kafka's burger did not.
My friend had the rather huge (no complaints) brushetta which was delicious, then a pesto pasta with potatoes and olives.Quite frankly, we were shocked that the olives were not pitted. Nobody wants a broken tooth with their main course! It was also absolutely swimming in pesto which was very sickening. I had heard great reviews of Kafka but was quite let down and to be quite honest, with a rather hefty bill, I find it quite baffling that it is so popular.

went here with 2 others, was quite disappointed with the whole experience. Couldnt really fault the food apart from the salads being mostly greens and having to search for beetroot & walnuts that were promised! Was very dear for what we got especially for a lunch visit. Not sure if I would return nor recommend...
