I love the atmosphere in this place as it has got quite cozy seating and there's an outdoor area should you need a cigarette! lovely coffees and decent cakes (€4 for both is a great deal!). Food, however, could definitely do with a revamp. It's quite a limited menu and i got the vegetarian panini which , to be honest, was pretty gross (huge chunks of red onion, under-cooked panini and too much relish). My boyfriend got the BLT (basic enough-right?) . Pretty poor BLT! BUT , at the risk of sounding too negative, the staff are nice and the atmosphere good... coffee and cake kinda place :)

We dropped in here for breakfast the other day and were pleasantly surprised. I had visited a good while back but the place has undergone a transformation since then. We had a cooked breakfast each for €6.95 and you can keep getting tea or coffee refills for free. The cafe has free wi-fi, not that I used it but it might be handy if I'm waiting to meet friends in the future. All in all, it was a nice cozy place and I will be back!

I needed a warm place to come and do some work on my computer. I tried to go to another cafe that has good sandwich and coffee deals but all their spaces near the electric outlets were taken so I decided to come to Cafe Moda for something to eat and a coffee. I walked into an empty but cozy enough cafe (the upper part has nice sofas and the music is played at a decent noise level) and asked if I could use my computer there. The waitress said I could and asked me if I was going to eat or drink anything. I said that I would like something but would need to see the menu first. Obviously! I then ordered a hot chicken sandwich, which looked ok on the menu and a coffee. It wasn't a great deal like the other place, but I was there and it was cold outside. Everything arrived quickly but the sandwich itself was nothing special. A bit tasteless to be honest and at nearly €6 I expected something better. Instead I got a side salad of mostly onion, some tomato, and a piece of cucumber drowned in salad dressing. Well, at least I have a comfy spot. But for a place that isn't competitive with the nearby restaurants, doesn't have wifi, it was hardly worth coming here, so I'll try and leave my place earlier to get a space at the other place.

Went to Moda for breakfast on a sunday afternoon and ordered two breakfasts. One breakfast arrived 10 minutes before the second, both were cold and the portions were extremely scabby. Cold scrambled eggs and 1 slice of toast €4.95. Very poor service considering it was quiet. We will not be going there again im afraid.

Went here for a coffee and snack during the week.A bit cramped and not enough staff working so it took ages to get served but they do great hot chocolate and bagels. prices aren't too steep either. Has a very chilled out atmosphere but the arrangement of furniture can lead to it being a bit cramped when its busy. The toilets downstairs are awful, with only one working properly and both smelling like they hadn't been cleaned in days.

I arrived here with my daughter for a coffee. I was pleased with the relaxed surroundings upstairs. The coffee was good, but a bit expensive. I decided to order some food, eggs benedict. It arrived promptly, but was disappointed with the outcome. The egg yolks were hard and were placed on a slice of regular ham, covered with a thick hollandaise sauce. Plus the tables are pretty small and low. This place is only suitable for a coffee visit.

I love the swivel chairs they have upstairs, so comfy for a coffee but not practical for eating your lunch from the low tables! I was here with a friend, and we both agreed we'd be back for coffee and cake but would probably skip the food next time.

Went there a couple of times for a coffee and somethng light to eat. The food is ok though, not very special and bit overpriced. Good coffee. Nice atmosphere, but they would need to think of adding some more items to their breakfast menu, it's kind od a fancy menu at the moment.

Went here for breakfast with my boyfriend. I had the bagel with sausage, rasher and scrambled egg and he had the eggs benedict. The staff were polite, and when they got my order wrong they were quick to correct it. Food was nice, but not exceptional. Would only go back if I was hungry and happened to be in the area.

I remember when this eatery was a beacon of trendiness in down-at-heel Rathmines. I happened up it the other day after I left my daughter off and had some time to kill. I ventured in for a parsnip soup. I had visions of something thick and hearty arriving, as I made my self comfortable in the window seat. The soup arrived down and I knew by looking at it I was not on to a winner. It was insipid, anaemic and watery looking. I took one spoonful and noted it was also warm. I asked for it be heated up. Looking back I should really have left at that point. It arrived back warmer but still ghastly. I had to put copious amounts of black pepper in to glean any flavour out of it. I went to the bathroom before I left and noted the floors were very old the whole place was seriously in need of a refurb. Such a pity, they still had their games room on this level down a few steps and another level up, great layout but hadn't seen a paint brush for years. Also, a TV was on with a match playing in the background!. A terrible decline from its glory years. Awful

I am a regular and can't fault the atmosphere, but the sandwiches have gone downhill. Salads are still pretty good, as are the desserts. I like the staff, they know that people will order things if they're left to their own devices, so that is a definite good point. Food is sometimes a little bit too expensive for what you get. Still love spending long afternoons here though!

I've been coming going to Cafe Moda for about 3 years now, and it has gone seriously downhill. Though a lovely atmosphere and comfy inside, they have jacked up the prices considerably and it doesn't stay open half as late as it used to. Food is too pricy for what you get, everything is only ok. The cake selection has always been decent however. In addition, the staff aren't particularly welcoming. I used to adore this place, but it's just not worthy of being a favourite any more.

A comfortable interior does not make up for making a bad toasted cheese sandwich..... Are the smoothies they serve those horrible 'innocent' smoothies de-bottled and put in a glass? cos unfortunately thats what they taste like.. iv had a disapppointing 3 visits.

Food's not great. Had a toasted sandwich- really not great. But I do love their flavoured sodas (almond is lovely!). The best thing about this place is you can stay here til 4am playing board games on the couches! Love it!

Had a really bad experience here, would not recommend it. Went with a friend on our lunch break. Ordered soup+paninis, thinking these would be quickest+easiest. Waited 30 mins for soup, which was not the soup we had ordered. Then waited another 20 mins for our order, this time it was the right soup but it was cold. We never heard anymore about our paninis. At this point we had to leave to return to work and had to rush a McDonalds! Staff seemed nice but mixed up orders and didn't attempt to apologise.

Was there with my brother on more then one occasion for lunch. The quality of the food was not very good. My brother asked for a toasted sandwich on brown and he got a white sandwich non toasted. the coffee's and hot chocolate's are worth trying. The service is not great, we had to ask for our plates to be taken away and we were waiting 35 minutes for 2 toasted sandwiches on one particular occasion. The staff are friendly but i would go there just for the hot chocolate.

I love moda! The food might not be fine dining but I love the atmosphere... toasted bagels with cream cheese and bacon on a Sunday morning... cant beat it. The cosy seats make it a place you can hang out and chat with friends for hours on end, its like being at home!!

I love coming here to chill with a strong cup of coffee and a chat with friends or even a read of the newspaper-comfi seats and nice atmosphere. Met a friend here last week and we had a lovely catch up- but then went next door for food. The only half way decent food in Moda is the toasted sandwiches. Avoid anything calling itself a bagel or scrambled egg at all costs

Have eaten here on numerous occasions. Agree with other posters the food has gone downhill a lot. They seem to specialise now in burnt bagels (which aren't particularly fresh either!).However the coffee and desserts are still nice, and generous in size too.

This place is grand for a Sunday morning brunch with friends to rehash Saturday night's antics, read the papers and gossip while drinking coffee and lounging on the couches. The food is over priced for what you get and not particularly nice, you could make better yourself

I can't believe cafe moda has so many stars on this website. The food is absolutely appaling and gets worse with every visit I have made to this cafe. The breakfasts are to be avoided. The last time we were here I got a burnt bagel and my companion got full breakfast where they forgot the bacon. When the bacon did appear it was raw! This was after we waited 45 minutes. Cafe moda should be avoided unless of course you are just ordering coffee!

I have eaten here a few times when I worked nearby and I really don't know why I kept going back. My last visit was when I ordered a tuna melt panini here one day and it was utterly disgusting. Dry mayonnaise free flakes of tuna with thick slices of cold tomato on rock hard bread. When I asked for mayonnaise, my request was met with a grunt and said waitress returned approx 10 minutes later with ONE sachet. This was served with about three salad leaves with no dressing and cost €6.95. Take from that what you wish!!

Upstairs they have comfy couches and lamps, and chilled out atmosphere. Food is nothing special, but there’s nowhere better to meet friends for a cup of tea and a chat. The best bit is the way the staff do not grab your dishes the minute you’re finished, and let you sit on for ages.

The best thing is the comfy chairs and couches. The food is all right and the staff have been pretty appalling any time I have been there. Rude, unhelpful, bringing out wrong orders and the list goes on. It's a nice place to chill out but the staff have really put me off.

A large proportion of the staff are constantly changing and orders often get mixed up. The menu is very broad but slightly over-priced for what you get. The main plus point of this cafe is it's opening hours, which are far later than any other cafe in the locality.
