Enjoyable and would recommend this restaurant. First of note is that the service is very good, friendly without being intrusive. We shared the squid starter but we were both a little disappointed in it's lack of flavour - the description would lead you to think much more flavoursome. The mains were better we ordered the first chicken dish on their menu with sides of Chana Masala, the lentil side dish, rice and a rotti. The chicken dish was so tasty, as were the veggies dishes. We actually took some of the Masala home as we were too full to finish. My only gripe, from previous visits, is that it is just a little dark in the resaurant, luckily this time, we were seated at the window.Overall an enjoyable experience and recommended.

Had dinner here with my wife for her Birthday last Friday. Food was excellent, though we ordered far too much and couldn't finish it. The service was impeccable; un-intrusive but friendly. The place wasn't particularly busy but there were enough in to not make you feel you were eating on your own. Prices are a little high for the food being served but the service makes up for this and overall we were very happy and would visit again.

Ate here recently and enjoyed a delicious meal. It was our first time here and it won't be the last. The downstairs was full so we were seated upstairs. Seems like the restaurant has a lot of regular customers from hearing people talking to the waiters. The food was delicious. We did order a bit too much food but that was our fault. Service was great. Wine was lovely. will definitely be going back and would easily recommend.

What attracted us to Monty's was the Coeliac menu and a previous visit to the Temple Bar branch which we loved. This restaurant is a gem. The staff are so attentive and friendly without invading your privacy. The food is delicious, so full of flavour and the portions are generous. As a coeliac I wasn't made to feel that I had to reiterate my dietary requirements or worry that some cross contamination may occur. The dining area is pretty small but tables aren't too close together. Will definitely be back.

Lovely atmosphere, lovely food, and lovely service... We didn't know what to expect when we came here and we were so delighted we came... You could also feel this place is family owned as the love, care and attention we as the customer were given and also with the flavours in the food... It was so so refreshing... We will come back here again and next time we will bring family and friends, just gorgeous

Was looking forward to my first visit to this restaurant and I was not disappointed. I really have to comment on the service - it was excellent - the waiting staff were so attentive & helpful. I started off with deep fried prawns which were fine, but I probably wouldn't order them again! My dinner partner had beautiful spicy cubed potatoes & peas which I would definitely order next time! For mains we had TANDOORI BUTTER CHICKEN & CHICKEN BABARI with rice & Garlic Nan bread - we mixed & matched & we both found the mains plentiful & tasty. It was rounded off with Mango & Ice Cream. I found the restaurant a little pricey, but that wouldn't put me off returning again & again as I really enjoyed my visit!

My husband and I go here regularly for both the early bird and the a la carte. The food is great, the service is always very good and the wine selection is excellent. My stand out pieces are the Monkfish main which they have won an awrd for, the Aloo Jeera and the Chilli Chicken. We regularly get take-away from here and it arrives piping hot and as good as it is to eat in the restuarant. We often meet the owner who is an exceedingly nice man and you can tell he works very hard to maintain the high standards he has set. His wife runs Nepalese cooking courses so we are definitely going to do one of these next. I can highly recommend this restaurant.

I went to Monty's for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The choice available for coeliacs is excellent, they have a special menu available and even offer a tasting menu all gluten free. It was great to have a menu where I could choose any single dish and know it was gluten free as opposed to being limited to a very select few choices. The staff were extremely helpful and really looked after us. They really were willing to help and go the extra mile. When we asked to exclude coriander from one of the dishes, the waiter came back out after placing the order and just wanted to let us know it was in something else and asked if we wanted that dish without it. That was a really nice touch and surprisingly doesn't happen in too many places. The food was really good quality and portions were good sizes. Only disappointment is that they don't have gluten free naan bread but I certainly won't hold that against them, there was more than enough choice on the menu and they were still willing to cater with additional extras. Really enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

I went to Monty's last week with a friend and we both really liked it. The interior is cosy and warm with nice character, the food was really nice. We chose from the value menu that runs all night, I had the lamb in tomato sauce to start and my friend had the king prawns, both were delicious. I had the hot, sweet and sour prawns for mains and my friend had the masala. Lovely mains and a cake type desert that I understand is a typical nepalese desert. We had the house white wine which was nice. I would definaltely come back here.

This place is really lovely. Came here in a group for a 50th birthday and they were really accomodating. We left flowers and champagne and instructions for when they were to be produced. The food was delicious and the platter starters were fantastic for the group so we all got to try a bit of everything. Mains were delicious and they were very patient with our orders for adding and taking away from the spice in certain meals! We did spend quite a bit on wine and champagne but there were plenty of affordable options on the menu and we all recieved a free drink at the end. I would definately be going back here for special occasions and even just for a treat. The staff couldnt have been nicer. It was a real pleasure

Ate here last night with the family, been here a fair few times and never disappoints. We went for 4 different mains, and each tried a bit of everything. The Chicken Nanglo is superb, and they'll do it as hot as you'd like it. No sauce though so be warned if you prefer saucy dishes. Lamb Ledo Bedo is gorgeous, very tasty. The Monkfish was amazing, really good flavour and it got nicer the more you ate!! Two starters, 4 mains, 3 rice, a nan and two bottles of wine came to €148, so not bad value at all for a really nice meal. Service is always good as well.

Great place! haven't been to the one in Temple Bar yet, but if the Rathgar one is anything to go by I'd definitely give it a shot. We were a table of 15 so quite loud and disorganised! The staff were very accomodating and the table was great - by the window upstairs with low seating, so very atmospheric. We ordered kind of tasting menus and everything was delicious, the wine flowed and the place emptied and at no point were we asked to leave or was the service dropped. There is alovely outdoor place to sit if the weather is nice also. Would heartily recommend this place!

I absolutely love this restaurant. It has to be my favourite Indian/Nepalase ever. The food is amazing and I love the chicken gorkali whicj is just to die for (I add extra chilli & garlic) as i like it hot. This is never a problem! They do delivery aswell which is really handy and they also do a great €25 for 2 menu for delivery too which is delicious and even though the portions are 1/2 portions there is loads of food as you get starters aswell! I will be going back there very soon as its been a while.

Went here for my dad's birthday. Food was very nice. We had ordered the dumplings in advance. I thought the meat ones were gorgeous but I didn't like the vegetable ones as much. Had the babri kukhura for my main course which was very good. The staff were excellent.

Went here with hubby for a nice relaxed meal after a quite busy day, and had a great experience. I have previously been to the sister restaurant in Eustace street, but the one in Rathgar wins on decor. The food was great. Being from Nepal myself and very familiar with authentic North Indian cuisine also, I can safely say that this restaurant serves real Nepalese cuisine and does not simply dress up Indian food as Nepali. If you are planning ahead, be sure to order some Momos when you make the booking. They are delicious steamed dumplings with meat or veggie filling served with a particularly Nepali "achar" (chutney). The table we had was not the best location as it was in the middle of the room and the staff suggested that we could go upstairs but then we would be the only ones there. As we were only two of us, we decided to stay downstairs and it was a lovely atmosphere. For larger groups, upstairs may work out better. I had aloo kerao chatpat to start, quite sharp and spicy as I had expected it to be. H had chicken wings which he thoroughly enjoyed. The service was great. At one point I bit into fresh green chillies resulting into eye watering and the waiter brought some sweetened yoghurt to cool. The main courses were equally good. A great place and would go there again.

I ate here in February with family and baby. They were very accomodating with the baby seating us upstairs in a comfortable corner. It was a bit cold initially but it warmed up as more people arrived. We did find it exceptionally noisey though. The food was lovely and clearly freshly prepared. It was full of flavour. The service was ok, I was disappointed that we did not receive any guidance from the waiters to help us through the menu. Even when asked, they did not seem able to make any suggestions. Otherwise though, a lovely night.

Wasn't hugely impressed with this place. We ate early (7.30) and were seated upstairs which was pretty empty and also really cold which didn't help matters. The menu is huge and the staff didn't really offer any suggestions or assistance with choosing. The starters were nice but nothing special and the mains followed suit. We had the selection of starters which gave a taste of a good few options and then I had the chicken kebab with a spicy sauce and my husband had the mixed tandoori grill. His was nicer than mine but I thought it was about the standard of a decent takeaway overall which was disappointing. Not horrible or anything just meh.

Service:was excelent nothing to say about it,give you a lot of advice about the different plates, they also refill your glass of wine, when it begins to be empty! Value:A bit more expensive tham most of indian restaurant specially wine list, but really tasty, staff very welcoming

I was here for a partying with a pretty big group of people and have to say I was very impressed at everything. I love Indian and with the Nepalese side here in Montys, it was fab. The menu was great and the food even better. We were all trying each others food and there wasn't a bad thing on anyones plate. In terms of price it was really good as well... for the amount we drank and ate it was a bargain! I will 100% be going back here again. No doubt in my mind and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Montys to anyone!

First visit to Monty's. First impression was good. We sat downstairs and we thought the decor was really lovely. The downside to sitting downstairs is the cold draught that occurs each time the door is opened. Having said that there is nothing else to be faulted. The staff were top class. The food was so good. It was fresh and tasty. I have to say this will probably be the first of many visits.

came here with my partner and son. the restaurant was lovely as we walked in, tables outside were all lit up. we had no reservation but we were brought to a table. the food was very salty, and even after we sent it back it was still salty. the wine was not great, our choice but it failed for me. i was disappointed with it. the staff were lovely and tasted our food and agreed that it was too salty. dont tink i would come back ere in a hurry. since writing this review i have spoken to the owner and he has apoligised and has asked us back to dine in the restaurant. thank you to the owner, and im greatfull for your phone call... hopefully we will see you soon.

Arrived too early to gauge the atmosphere, bank holiday Sunday, but this is just a great restaurant. Service was friendly and as a first time visit to a Nepalese restaurant the waiter explained all the different dishes we were about to eat. We had their specials " typical home" dish for two. I wouldn't know much about this type of food but I do know that myself and my wife really enjoyed our meal in Montys. Will be back soon.

This is a great restaurant. The food is fantastic, really great flavours and spices. Have been to Montys in town a few times too and this one in Rathgar is just as good. The staff are so polite and really make you feel welcome here. And the good news is that they have now started doing a delivery service! LOVE Montys!!

Have been to this restaurant twice now and on both occasions we have been very satisfied. The atmosphere is better upstairs but some may find it a little cramped. The service is excellent and the menu is quite extensive. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. On both occasions the restaurant was full. We will definitely be back.

Four friends went to Montys on a friday evening. The atmosphere was lacking in the place and the food wasn't great. We all had chicken dishes and none of them seemed to be made with breast meat unless specifically mentioned on the menu. The meat was pink leg meat as far as i could tell. I have had nicer Indian food elsewhere.

I can honestly say this is the best restaurant I have been to in Dublin. Everything from the service to the food is first class. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The menu may seem a little expensive at first but the quality of the food served makes it well worth it. Definitely will be going back here again and again.

Ate for the first time in a group this week. Staff were very friendly, only comment would be they tended to serve and clear from the top of the table which meant we were literally piling our plates up to him! I would not be a huge fan of that anywhere outside of my own kitchen! Starters were very disappointing, main courses however were good. I would recommend the Ledo Bedo curry. Not sure I would definitely go back however woudl not deter anyone from paying a visit to make up their own minds.

This restaurant was excellent from start to finish. The staff were so attentive. They opened the door for each customer as they arrived, coats were taken, plates were wiped before being put on the table, wine was poured, assistance was offered with the menu and they checked to make sure everything was OK. The atmosphere and decor in the restuarant were lovely. Food was really tasty and very good quality with an extensive wine list. Desserts are very different from the usual ones presented in this country. Overall, an excellent place. I'll definitely be back.

Ate here this evening with my family and have to say we were a bit disappointed. While the food was good and the waiting staff were lovely and attentive, we found the place a bit dull. At first we were shown to a table upstairs which was completely empty and had no atmosphere. However after pushing they fitted us in no problem downstairs. The food is very tasty but nothing special and like most other indian food. It's also pretty pricy for what it is. The decor was a bit tired and the place could do with a facelift. Won't be rusing back.

I visited this restaurant for the 1st time yesterday & was glad I did. I loved the overall atmosphere & feel. The service is amazing & the staff are very attentive towards the guest. The food was really tasty with distinctive flavours of the spices. We did have a problem with wine, where in the 1st one we ordered was corked, however the waiter changed the same without creating any issues. I would definitely recommend it to people who love flavourful Nepalese/Indian tastes in food. I would definitely be visiting here again for more delicious food.

This restaurant was lovely looking from the outside and from the ground floor although the upstairs (where we were seated) wasn't quite as nice. The food was great though, the Chicken Choila (starter) and Ledo Bedo (main) were both delicious. Service was also very pleasant and the waiter was comfortable and happy to provide advice. Overall, a top top restaurant and one I shall definitely be revisiting. Just downstairs next time!

A restaurant we have returned to a few times and but I must say on my last visit disappointed with the food. I was looking forward to having the barbequed Pork again, however it was a real disappointment this time. My dining companions were eating here for the first time and really enjoyed the experience and food However as the staff are so friendly, we will certainly give this restaurant another visit.

Food was delish, service was excellent but was disappointed there was no early bird at 5pm on a Sunday so had to pay full price for 11 year old child so the bill worked out expensive, but was still worth it!

Really like this place. It's comfortable, really attentive service (some would argue, a little too attentive!) and delicious food. I must be a stingebag because I often find eating out expensive - and this place is not cheap. However, after eating there I really thought it was worth a few extra euro. I had a lamb dish which was really tasty, and my boyfriend kept saying that his dish was the nicest thing he had eaten in ages. It's got a nice atmosphere and great spot outside for warm evenings. YUM.

We had the €75 tasting menu for our group of 8. The food was fantastic and the accompanying wines were superb and very interesting. The service is very friendly and informative with regard to the food but is a little slow however it was a very busy Sat night. Atmosphere is really good. We'd recommend Monty's highly and will definitely return soon.

I went here on a Saturday night. The menu is comprehensive but nothing is included with the main courses. As a result the waiter was very pushy, suggesting extras such as rice, which I can live with, and gravy. Gravy. The main course didn't even come with gravy, it was an extra €2.50. When the food did arrive it was very ordinary. Throw in an expensive wine list and you are left with an overpriced and underwhelming restaurant.

I visited Monty's with my family soon after it opened. Its a nice restaurant, the bar area downstairs is quite cool, and the snack menu looks really good. Upstairs we sat at one of the lower tables, which was like sitting on the floor cross legged. Interesting but a bit awkward and uncomfortable for some! the service was very slow, but the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was nice, but not too exciting - its very like Indian food, but somehow not as good. It is a nice place to eat, but its lacking a little something. I wouldn't be rushing back... but saying that its not bad at all, I don't want to judge them unfairly!

First visit here last Friday - previously ate in the city centre version, but lunch only which was excellent - I had high hopes for this suburban entity which were not fully realised. There were 3 of us and we had an 8.30 booking. On arrival the restaurant was already busy, if not packed - it filled up as the evening progressed. I had the constant impression that the staff were under pressure to deal with the volume of customers - an example being that our wine did not arrive until after we'd finished our starters. The starters themselves were both too large, and generally uninspiring - particularly my companions potato based dish (Aloo Kerau Chat Pat)- cubes of spicy potato in a pastry style basket. I had what amounted to vegetable bhajis (Tareko Sabji)- 4 of which were far too many for a starter. However, they did taste nice. The 'hit' of the main courses was the gorkhali - a type of green curry. My own dish was a dry lamb dish (Sekuwa Lamb - a tandoori dish) - with which I was given a bowl of tomato based sauce (to wet the rice apparently) - not being a big fan of tomato sauce (except on pasta) I ate very little of this. The other dish was Jyogi Bhat (a chicken biryani type dish)which its eater proclaimed to be very nice. We didn't have dessert - just coffee/tea to finish. There had been two bottles of sparkling mineral water with the meal as well as the wine - and the total bill (including service which was discretionary) came to €145 - reasonable but probably as much as the food and service deserved. With regard to comfort - I don't find the low seats and tables at all conducive to comfort - trying to decide where to put your legs while eating should not be the overriding decision during a meal out! There are ordinary tables and these would definitely be preferable - but they may be reserved for those who the staff feel could not manage the more traditional seating arrangements.

Having eaten at Monty's in Temple Bar a few times thought I'd try out the new restaurant with 3 friends. Pleased to report that the food is still top notch, same menu as the original Monty's but that's ok.....everybody was delighted with their choices. Only (minor) complaint is the seating. On arrival we were offered a table on the terrace and it being a glorious evening we were happy to sit outside. The terrace itself is really lovely with comfy seats and a nice water feature BUT it needs some heaters!! After a while we got seriously chilly.... luckily the spicy food warmed us up. That's just a small gripe, overall I'd highly recommend the D6 Monty's.
