Montys of Rathgar, Rathgar

Sister restaurant to Montys of Kathmandu in Temple Bar.Now taking takeaway and delivery orders. At Montys of Rathgar, we are strongly committed to producing authentic Nepali food using quality ingredients and with a great deal of passion and heart. In our warm and welcoming restaurant, our aim at all times is to give our customers 100% satisfaction and value for money in both food and beverages. With this in mind, we commissioned a local micro-brewery to produce a lager to complement the food we serve. The lager is called ‘Shiva’, and we were the first establishment in the restaurant business in Ireland to have such a product. All our food is prepared in-house – from blending our own spices, to preparing chilli sauce. We offer value dining at lunch and dinner. This year, our wine list has undergone serious changes, giving the customer more choice and value at every level. Our food menu has seen the addition of dishes from the remotest villages of Nepal. We believe in truly authentic ethnic cuisine. Our chefs and most of our staff are from Nepal and have enormous enthusiasm for producing great Nepali food. When you visit Montys of Rathgar you can be assured that you will receive fabulous Nepali food served in fresh, clean surroundings, and with service that is second to none. We cater for most dietary requirements; just let your waiter know.

Enjoyable and would recommend this restaurant. First of note is that the service is very good, friendly without being intrusive. We shared the squid starter but we were both a little disappointed in it's lack of flavour - the description would lead you to think much more flavoursome. The mains were better we ordered the first chicken dish on their menu with sides of Chana Masala, the lentil side dish, rice and a rotti. The chicken dish was so tasty, as were the veggies dishes. We actually took some of the Masala home as we were too full to finish. My only gripe, from previous visits, is that it is just a little dark in the resaurant, luckily this time, we were seated at the window.Overall an enjoyable experience and recommended.

Had dinner here with my wife for her Birthday last Friday. Food was excellent, though we ordered far too much and couldn't finish it. The service was impeccable; un-intrusive but friendly. The place wasn't particularly busy but there were enough in to not make you feel you were eating on your own. Prices are a little high for the food being served but the service makes up for this and overall we were very happy and would visit again.

Ate here recently and enjoyed a delicious meal. It was our first time here and it won't be the last. The downstairs was full so we were seated upstairs. Seems like the restaurant has a lot of regular customers from hearing people talking to the waiters. The food was delicious. We did order a bit too much food but that was our fault. Service was great. Wine was lovely. will definitely be going back and would easily recommend.
