Visited the orchard for dinner this evening, three adults and one child. Hadn't eaten here recently so decided to try it out. All in the party were very impressed. My husband had the steak which he said was brilliant, the pepper sauce was delicious. My lasagne was good value with a generous portion of chips, the other adult in the party enjoyed her burger which was nicely presented. Kids meal was standard, no complaints from the three year old! The desserts were impressive and again nicely presented, one had the knickerbocker glory which was enjoyable and another had the terrys chocolate orange cheesecake. Cannot commend the service enough, a breath of fresh air to have a friendly and attentive waitress. Will definitely be back. Crayons and a sheet to colour on a nice touch for keeping the kids occupied.

i cant say enough how disappointed i was on sat night , i am disabled and do not go out very often , so i was looking forward to going to the orchard , on crutches i stood at the bar to order a drink the bar man said ill be back in a min so i waited ten mins later he stood in front of me and i asked if he could het me a drink he snarled at me there was no serving where i stood and would have to move 2 feet for him to serve me 2 feet up was 2 deep in people sitting in front of the bar and i couldn't get near the bar with or without crutches, so i decided to try find a seat and order from the lounge staff ... to my shock i was not allowed to sit at any table all the tables had to be pre booked . we stood again and asked a lovely lounge girl and she said all tables are booked and she was so sorry that she would try find me a stool , i then tried to put my glass on a table and the person standing at the table able-bodied i might add went off came came back with a manager who shoved a chair right beside me so that she could sit down he almost knocked me over and then she turned to give me a filthy look for putting my glass on the table . we then left .. the staff were disgustingly rude , apart from the young girls as lounge staff ...

I am a long time customer of this pub & have stopped going there, on and off over last couple of years for several reasons. Firstly I must state the serving staff are brilliant. The pub went from welcoming long term regulars from the area, to reserving seating areas at weekends leaving regulars without seats unless booked in advance. So stopped going in at night. Then there was the time I was told I could only have a sandwich WITH ham as they are brought in pre made. CRAZY. I am vegetarian. Then recently at lunch time I was informed nothing vegetarian available until after 5pm.! I had to leave. I had breakfast few weeks ago and got worst scrambled egg ever and tea is extra so works out a pricey breakfast. Stopped going in morning times! Today I went in with my daughter to have a sandwich (HAMLESS option has been put back on menu!)...but was told NO sandwiches were being made today at all because they might be too busy with the school break up !! It was NOT in the least busy even the outside sunny area & it was a very sunny day I I asked the girl serving us was it busy inside she told us it wasnt. I had to have soup which is not a top choice for me. Supposed to be served with home made treacle or guinness bread but got sliced bread which was bit hard. At this point I cut my losses ate what I could, left and will not go back.. Over the years I have given The Orchard yet another try but not any more. The Orchard does not put the customer first... making a sandwich would take 5 minutes..not long ... to ensure happy customers ! I give up.

Had lunch here with 2 older ladies, one in a wheelchair and the other a walking frame. We were greeted with a smile and an offer of help. We were shown to a table and a ramp was provided for our convenience which was greatly appreciated. The presentation of the food was excellent and tasted great. It was fairly full which is not surprising considering how helpful the staff were.I would return here again when I am on that side of the city.

The last few days being so nice and being local I had lunch here with a friend on Friday and my son on Saturday of this week. Their beer garden is really nice to dine out in. For the most part the staff are friendly but service can be slow. My son had the steak sandwich which had lots of fillings but not too generous with the steak, which was disappointing. I had the Boston Prawn open sandwich both days and this was good. In general it is a bit expensive in comparison to many other restaurants in very close proximity. It would be nice to see them doing a set lunch menu at a reasonable price just as the other restaurants are doing.

The Orchard recently appointed a new head chef. The presentation of the food is really nice and modern. However every time I go here its like the head chef is not on duty. There is always something's miss. The food tends to be always cold. I got the chicken wrapped in Parma ham served with Maison butter. The Parma ham was very crispy but the butter was solid as a rock on top of the cold chicken. A mouthful of cold herb butter is not a pleasant experience... My husbands pork platter was also cold, which took away from the meal. In a pub you don't expect food to be cooked from scratch when ordering but at least it should be reheated through for a number of reasons. Saying all that, the burgers are really good and we will probably give it another go as the waiting staff are really nice and efficient. They should rethink the brasso on the high tables. It stinks your clothes, arms and hands.

Decided to try here due to excellent reviews on menu pages & we've just moved to the area. What a mistake, will not be returning for food. We ordered steak & chips thinking we couldn't really go wrong with that. How wrong we were. Chips were reheated, should have sent them back but everyone was complaining to waitress about food so didn't have the heart. Steak was awful, such a tough cut of meat & not a nice flavour. Meal cost 80 euro. Nicer food and better value to be got out there. Such a pity as pub is very popular, great atmosphere. Only positive, food was presented beautifully but wooden board it was served on not practical for cutting steak.

Whilst over on holidays with my family it was recommended that we try the Old Orchard in Rathfarnham for something to eat. We arrived and were greeted by a lovely girl who promtly found us a seat as it was quiet a busy, she took a drinks order and told us what specials were on etc.. I was with my wife, 2 children and brother in law, I chose the chicken wings which were by far the nicest I have ever tasted, packed with flavour and lots of chicken(which can be hard to come by on some wings i have got in the past!) My wife had the Chicken Ceaser Salad which she said was fabulous. My 2 children had the Chowder and home cooked fries, all bowls were clean and I did have a sneaky taste and couldnt fault this dish in any shape or form, my brother in law had the pate - once again, another well presented and tasty dish. Throughout our meal our waitress made sure we didnt run out of drink(we were on holidays!!). She was professional and pleasant to deal with and also gave us recommendations of places to go out in Dublin, but her loyalty struck through when the 1st place she said to go was "The Old Orchard". Both myself and my family will certainly be back when we return to Ireland at Christmas. (Might even try pop in tomorrow before our flight for breakfast) Overall a great place to eat and the Guiness was good too!!!

Been a regular here over the years and heard very good reports on a new chef/menu so tried it out with the family. Can safely say it was a breath of fresh air to see what was served to our table. All finished our meals thinking money well spent (which does not happen very often). Starters consisted of duck & pork spring rolls which were 10/10, seafood chowder was delicious and paté dish was also really nice. Pork tasting was the choice for mains, presentation was fantastic! as well as the beef and guinness pie for herself. Went with the 'Chefs recommendation' for dessert, which was Terrys Chocolate Orange Cheesecake, it looked too nice to eat but was eventually cleaned off the plate, rest of the table opted for the Brioche Bread and Butter Pudding which was given the thumbs up also. All in all, happy to recommend and will be back on a more regular basis after this
