My Wife & Myself went there on Saturday night & we have nothing but positive things to say about the place. We both had the crab starters, which is probably the best starter we have had in a long time. As for the fillet steak, that was amazing. Will be going back there again. Oh yeah had the baked Alaska and all I can say was "wow"

Went here with my husband for my birthday. It was the most enjoyable experience we have had in a long time. The restaurant describes itself as "Classic, Simple and Elegant" and that is exactly what it is. Elegant without being fussy. The decor is lovely. The atmosphere is relaxed. The menu is straight forward and the selection is perfect andreally good value for money. What we chose was delicious, cooked and presented to perfection. The wines are displayed around the restaurant which makes your selection easier and they serve pints!! The service was friendly and attentive. We loved it. Will be back and will recommend it to everyone.

Had lunch in Morilles on Sunday last, was Mothers Day so they were quite busy but this did not take away from the experience. Food was excellent and I thought very good value with 3 courses for 24.95. Love the ambience/interior of this restaurant. Service was very attentive, will definitely be going back.

A few of us booked this for a birthday, and they were great with letting us bring in our own cake. From the off they were extremely polite, professional and friendly. The staff working on the night were very attentive to us, our queries (some of us are picky eaters) and they accomodated our requests. The menu was great, and they even helped change some for us, and the food was delicious! Between the steaks, perfect medium rare, duck, salads and goats cheese.. Great pricing for great foods. They brought out the cake as the surprise and it worked a treat. We all really enjoyed our evening, very surprised as I have eaten in many restaurants around europe, and I was so happy to have such a great experience just down the road from my own home. Recommended.for sure, you dont need to go into town to get good food, great service and in a nice atmosphere!

Poor experience. Food was below average, taste of poor quality ingredients. Staff were unfriendly & unknowledgeable about the menu. Felt like a waste of money.

My wife and I ate here on Tuesday and went for the 3 course for €21 option. It was our 4th time dining here in over 2 years and this was our most pleasurable experience. The food has vastly improved. The menu has changed, is more varied and thankfully, the very average mushroom risotto has been removed. Mushroom fricassee starters were very nice. The pastry just right with generous and tasty mushroom filling that was not overcooked. My mains, pan fried calves liver on a bed of mash was just delicious. The portion was generous, but not American generous, the liver tender and mash was the way mash should be, creamy and seasoning was just right. I am not a dessert person however I was tempted by the warm chocolate fondant served with honeycomb ice cream. Just lovely. Although it was a Tuesday, it was busy enough which was good to see as decent restautrants in Rathfarnham are not something in abundance so it would be a shame if this establishment went under. We dined recently in a restaurant in Rathmines on a Tuesday also where it was just the two of us for 2 hours. That was not fun. The service in Morille’s is also excellent. We will be back. Soon.

Having ate in the pub before we decided to try the restaurant for the special early-bird menu. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and just the right size. There were 3 of us. Two went for the early-bird and the fussy one went for the a la carte menu. When the starters came out they were sent to the wrong table but this was quickly corrected. The portion sizes were very good and we were all impressed. The a la carte dish(steak) was cooked exactly as requested.Despite there being music played you couldn't help notice the two staff seemed a little flustered behind the see through curtain with alot of cutlery being dropped and errors being made.Maybe it was someones first night/week!!The only real problem was our bill.We were charged incorrectly for 3 earlybird menus( and because the a la carte meal chosen was steak this incurred a €6 addon to €19.95).We were overcharged by almost €5!!.People are looking for value for money and while it wasn't overly expensive it is just a pity..

Went in for an early bird on a Friday. The place was quiet but tastefully decorated and a pleasant surrounding. The early bird was excellent value. The food was quite good but not excellent. I think I might have just been unlucky. The main course had been slightly burnt but they still served it and tried to camouflage it a bit with extra sauce. Not good. The Bordeaux was poor, it will be the house wines the next day. However the potential was definitely there. My girlfriends dish was quiet good. I will go back and post another review then. EDIT: Was back at Morilles at the weekend. As I suspected the food is very good. This time I went for a rare sirloin. Portions were large and the food good. Went for one of the house reds which was perfectly acceptable. However one negative point is that I found the menu a bit limited with regard to true French cuisine. There are only 2 red meat dishes and NO DUCK! I'd recommend dropping one of the more generic options and adding another French dish

Having tried the bar food a few weeks ago and liked it. I though I would give the restaurant a go. I have to say I really enjoyed all my food and tasted my partners dish and loved that too. The menu is reasonably priced, the food great and it has a lovely atmosphere. I will be back again.

We had an early dinner tonight in Morilles and it was a really gorgeous and a real value for money meal. The place was quiet, but warm and inviting and Sammy Davis sang Bojangles (a background track) that included Dionne Warwick - some really great classics made us feel at home. I had the 2 courses for €19.95 offer and had the most stunning seafood chowder ever. It was probably full to the brim of cream, but rich and creamy and full of fresh perfectly cooked fish. The other thing was even though it arrived in one of those nice shallow bowls, it was piping hot. I just hate luke warm food, but not at Morilles. My main course was a chicken dish with mash and veg. Simple, well cooked and lovely sauce. My partner had black pudding in filo pastry with red onion accompaniment. It was delicate and light and really fresh (his words not mine!) - his main was a beef and guinness pie with a side with fresh creamed mash potatoes. I was a little embarassed when he asked our waiter if he would have to ''hunt'' in the dish for the beef. He reassured and he wasn't wrong. It was a big hit. Two lovely chilled glasses of Pinot Grigio accompanied our meal. We paid just €4 for the wine. I have certainly paid €5-€6 in other places and felt it ws too much. Total price was just €48 and it was the best value for money we've had in quite a while. The restaurant was quiet but it was a Tuesday night in January and for my money, this place deserves to be rocking and I have absolutely no doubts. Whatever about the early reviews on this page about Morilles, please drop in and give Morilles a try. You will not be disappointed.

Had a really nice evening which was enjoyed by all four of us.We all liked the decor which was warm and tastful. The service was first class and attentive. The vegetable soup was a bit bland, but the pork belly was wonderful and the desserts were very good. In the present economic climate this meal was very good value and we will return.

Morilles have got their act together. Dismiss reviews over 2 months old as Morilles has revised its prices and approach. Their early bird menu got us into the restaurant - which I might add was excellent. Portion sizes and choices were the same as those taken from the a la carte, but the nice surprise was that the a la carte is now affordable. We didn't return after our first visit 9 months ago as the prices were off the wall despite the food being top class. BUT now - you're getting excellent food as a reasonable price with service and decor to match. Plus we loved the music choice. I'd love to see this restaurant succeed as its nice to have a quality restaurant in Rathfarnham. I hope they get the support they deserve and are acknowledge for admitting they got it wrong the first time out when the recession wasn't even on the horizon. I look forward to my next visit - I've already made 2 bookings over the coming weeks.

Scrumptious! We had heard great comments regarding this restaurant since it opened and we arrived back from our holidays and tried the early bird. We were not dissapointed. We were greeted by warm and friendly staff, who were especially nice to our children (7yrs and 10yrs). I had the Salt & Pepper squid-delicious. He had the grilled mushroom, poached egg and herb butter- which I had to taste to my delight. For mains I had the Crispy duckling and he had the fish of the day which was baked haddock- both were absolutely gorgeous! The children had penne pasta with a homemade tomatoe suace. Which they loved and so did we! Then the deserts, the waiter kindly organised jelly and ice cream for the children which they loved. I would recommend the chocolate brownie! We also treated ourselves to a beautiful bottle of wine and the total bill came to €82 minus the tipp for 2 adults and 2 children. We had a wonderful evening money well spent. We will definitely be making more regular visits to this restaurant! P.S. you will love the music!

What a wonderful restaurant!! We have often eaten in the bar and the restaurant and loved it. I must point out that the menu on this site is not the same as in the restaurant. We were there last firday night and she had the blue cheese and pear salad which was delicious not too filling as a starter and I had the rare beef salad-cooked to perfection! For mains she had the Lemon and thyme chicken and I had the 16oz T bone which is a welcome return to any menu. Also they have an early bird option two course's for €18-you can't beat that in value in the current climate. We have eaten there since it was refurbished and have loved it every time. It's good to see that the menu is changed regularly especially when fresh food is in season. The staff are always friendly and curtious and the restaurant has a lovely ambience about it. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Big disapointment with our experience at this new restaurant. Should have known when we arrived as the place was empty. Cheerfull enough girl greeted and took our order thought the menu was way overpriced. Starters were not good and things did not improve with our main course. We had ordered sirloin steak and got fillet well done not medium rare as we had ordered. Nothing was said about the change from sirloin to fillet and we were charged for fillet our sides were cold and no sauce was available except pepper. The staff then decided to have an arguement behind the bar about their rosters. We asked for our bill and got out quick. Will never be back it is a pity as the decor is nice and the restaurant comfortable.

Awful, was so so bad, please dont waste your hard earned money on this over priced garbage, goats cheese terrible, over cooked woody asparagus, overcooked cod with dry, overcooked sea bass with red pepper mash Ugh!!, duck tough and chewy, overcooked beyond belief ratatouille, stewed watery potatoes, mushrooms ina basket dont know what thats about, red wine was stone cold and cheese came straight from the fridge Hello! bread was the only acceptable thing god I dont know if we will ever risk going out again on a friday, after a hard weeks work I can think of many better ways of spending this sort of money, surely a place like this cant last with such a cavalier attitude towards its food and pricing was warned before we went but didnt listen serves us right I suppose a very expensive lesson

Not a bad addition to the area which is starved of decent restaurants. Morrilles is a bistro and doesn't pretend to be much more. It's a very nice room with a good atmosphere. The menu is small as per a bistro but the starters are overpriced, duck terrine at €10 served without bread or toast was a bit plain but not bad tasting. The fish cakes were okay, nice flavours and plenty of them. The mains were good, lamb was cooked medium as requested and she had the aubergine with mushrooms, which was fine but thats all. The cheese board had a good selection but no grapes, relish, chutney or anything to clear the taste of indiviudal cheeses. Putting cheese on a menu isn't a licence to make no effort. The wine list is limited and wine by the glass is very poor. Total bill €116. The bar downstairs is a great advantage as somewhere to go after dinner. I would go again but know what to expect.

We went on Valentine's Day and booked it 2 weeks in advance. I doubt there was a need to be so early... When we arrived the first person who greeted us couldnt find our booking but this got sorted within couple of mins. The place itself wasnt overly big and wasnt the most imtimate but it was very comfortable and lively. The restaurant's big selling point is its food. absolutely suberb. it was a set menu for Valentine's. I had caesar salad for starters and my girlfriend had mushroom soup. (side bread was delicious as well) For main I had the sirloin steak well done and it was cooked to perfection (very big portion). Girlfriend had a breast of cornfed chicken covered in sundried tomato which I tried and really liked as well. There was no choice for desert - 4 samples on a plate which were all good. Didnt bother with the tea/coffee at the end. Complimentary glass of champagne at the end was a nice touch. The service during the meal was very good and the food was delivered fast. Main gripe was felt a bit rushed as we were told we had to out by 9 whereas on the phone I was told 9.30. Set menu was €45 which is €5 extra for the privilege as it was Valentine's night. Also the steak option was €50 but I thought worth it. Overall reasonable value and we didnt leave hungry

Well I'll start the ball rolling for this new restaurant :) Went with a friend last night & had a very enjoyable evening. The staff were friendly, cheerful & enthusiastic, long may it last. The décor is very elegant but not stuffy, generally a nice relaxed atmosphere. We were given some very tasty breads & amazing pesto while we waited. We went straight to mains. I had the Duck Breast with braised red cabbage, plum and apple compote. It was delicious - the most succulent & tasty duck I have had in a long time. The compote & cabbage were sweet & fruity but not overly so. My friend had the seabass & it was also very good. For desert I had the lemon tart - the flavour was great but would have preferred the filling to be a bit firmer & the pastry softer... My friend had the chocolate fondant& it was perfect, just as it's meant to be & the Guinness ice-cream was very interesting. We finished with some very good cappuccinos. The bill came to €66 for the two of us (no wine or bottled water). Would definitely go again!
