The Wild Goose Grill offers classic bistro food in stylish and comfortable surroundings. The wine list is comprehensive with nearly three hundred bottles to choose from.

The Wild Goose Grill takes its name from the Wild Geese, those successive waves of Irishmen who left their country to serve in the armies of continental Europe during the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

The Wild Geese scattered far and wide, distinguishing themselves on battlefields from France and Spain to South America. To this day, you can see their legacy in the proud Irish names written on street signs from Madrid to Buenos Aires.

But the Wild Geese also left another legacy in their adopted lands, a legacy that bears fruit to this day.

From the great vineyards of Bordeaux to the wineries of the new world, the Irish have become famous for making good wine. Many of the wines they produce are now world renowned brands, with names like Lynch and Barton synonymous with excellence.

The Wild Goose Grill 5.0 star review: This was the last night out my wife and I enjoyed before number 2 was born (2 days later!). And what an inspired choice for a special meal it was. The food was superbly executed - I had the crab followed by the Goose signature dish. The latter was one of the best mains I've ever had, and at €26 represented incredible value for money.

The sommelier was both enlightening and witty, and allowed us to taste a couple of wines before choosing which one we preferred. The wine list itself is beautifully presented with something for every concievable pallet. It's also very fairly priced.

We had a pair of lovely desserts to top off a marvelous evening. Atmosphere was buzzy, the room was seductively lit and the service was seamless.

We'll be returning as soon as possible.

The Wild Goose Grill 5.0 star review: I went for a work dinner at The Wild Goose Grill and adored it. The food was divine, the service was great, and fantastic wine as well. Great ambiance in this restaurant, however my one qualm was we were 7 people seated at a table for 5, so not all that comfortable, but it was packed for a Wednesday night.

The Wild Goose Grill 5.0 star review: Not often I'd give 5 stars. Went here on a Wednesday evening when they have their early bird (all night mon, tue and wed). 19.95 for 2 courses. Well worth it as the food is excellent. Great wine list, with a good choice of lovely wines by the glass. We had sole tempura(s), grilled hake(m), blue cheese and walnut salad(s), wild mushroom risotto (m). All excellent. The sharing plate for dessert was lovely, a slightly disappointing chocolate fondant, made up for by a superb berry crumble and a near perfect creme brulée. It's the kind of place you know you'll get consistently good food and good service. Non early bird is a little pricey, but worth it I'd say for a nice night out.

The Wild Goose Grill 5.0 star review: We had the pleasure of dining in this wonderful restaurant recently. From the moment we entered we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food was heavenly, the deserts were divine and we were looked after so expertly by the very charming Carlos! It was an excellent evening and one we look forward to repeating very soon! Highly recommended!

The Wild Goose Grill 5.0 star review: Went there on a Sat after recommended by a friend. The restaurant is lovely. Had the goose as main course - it was amazing! The goose was cooked perfectly, on the plate there was also potatos, green beans and mushrooms, each with a different flavour that really made the dish so nice.

The only downside was that we waited for almost 45 minutes to get the dessert menu - then another 20 minutes until we actually got the dessert - which was quite a long time! But other than this, service was good, will definitely go back again.

The Wild Goose Grill 4.0 star review: I visited the Wild Goose with my husband for Sunday lunch. We arrived arond 1pm and the place was fairly empty. Only a couple of other tables with people. Decor is lovely and inviting. We sat near the window so was great to look out on Ranelagh Rd. We had the lunch special of €24.95 for 3 courses. We ate tomato soup and caprese salad for starters. Nothing amazing. Tomato soup was a bit watery and could have been out of a can...For mains we had the risotto and chicken. both ok but nothing special. Best part was the dessert - ice cream and apple pie - can't go too wrong with those options though! Service was great. Very quick and friendly. May go back to see if there's been an improvement but will only give it one more try.

The Wild Goose Grill 4.0 star review: Been meaning to visit the Wild Goose for some time. But it is popular and early bookings are essential, and this does not always suit our last minute decision habits! Atmosphere is good. Understated entrance leads up stairs (two flights) to nicely laid out restaurant area divided into two main sections. Tables have just about the right separation for privacy, and it's a full linen service. We had a selection of seafood (tuna, scallop and squid) as a starter. Very nicely presented and prepared. For main course we shared Cote de Boeuf. A very large rib eye on the bone, carved at the table. Again excellent presentation and preparation. At €58 for two, the main course was expensive, but did include all sauces and vegetables. Chipped and pureed potatoes, as well as pureed root vegetables. Deserts were good, but the cheeseboard was dissapointing. Cheap convenience store type cheeses. Sorry guys, but if you are going to serve cheese (€14), you must treat it with as much care as your other courses.
Service throughout the evening was excellent, and manager - Sheerin - was very helpful and informative.
Overall, we thought the experience was very good. However, expensive (but quite ordinary) wines plus the high costs of all menu items, makes this quite an expoensive night out!

The Wild Goose Grill 5.0 star review: Ate here recently with two of the 'girls'... we had a really lovely evening..style and overall atmosphere of the restaurant is we all agreed really excellent. This is a smart place! We all had a goats cheese with aubergine starter which was delicious and plates were clean after. I had the hake for my main course and it was the nicest piece of fish I have had in a long time...delicious. We had a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc between 2 of us and I had two glasses of Salice Salentino - a gorgeous Italian red. Service was impeccable. The early bird runs all night on a Wednesday so all this lovely food/drink was at excellent prices. Cant honestly think of anything bad to say about the place and will definitely be back. Go visit!
