My Girlfriend and I ate here while on a break away to Ranelagh, when we arrived to restaurant we were amazed by the decor it was lovely not like a typical Indian restaurant that we usually eat in. the cutlery and tableware were very clean looking and fab. We both just got a main course we both enjoyed it, I got Chicken Rogan Josh which seemed a bit spicy so if ordering this and you not a fan of spicy curry make sure to tell them ease on spice. My friend got his usual Chicken Balti, it wasn't spicy enough but he still enjoyed it. All in all it was a lovely meal and the service was very good. Also when we had no booking when we went for our meal and they were happy to serve us as the place was closing within the hour they had no problem with us walking in. would definitely recommend to visit this restaurant. Our meal cost was €50 included Chillian bottle of wine, which is a reasonable price. So lovely restaurant, Lovely food, lovely staff, and guarantee you'll be happy leaving.

I have had take-away to many times from PUNJAB BALTI and it was great on all the occasions but I ate in for the first time on last Sunday. The restaurant was busy but I have to say, the food and service were excellent. We both skipped starters, I had chicken tikka masala and my mate had Lamb jalfrezi, both dishes were really tasty and juicy. The naan bread was fresh and delicious.the home made desert Gulab jamon was fabulous. We didn't realise at the time you can bring your own beer or wine to this restaurant, which is an excellent addition. It really is great to have a decent Indian restaurant in Dublin. I really hope it survives, and highly recomend to all Indian cuisine lovers.A+..

We were at this place once and unfortunately I don't think I will return. There are many other Indian restaurants in close range that delivers far better value for money. The food was not bad but it was bland and definitely not worth the prices they charged. Staff was nice and friendly but there was a smell in the restaurant which was a turn-off. The place looks empty on most nights when other restaurants are packed with customers.

Opted for a takeaway meal at Punjab Balti recently. The menu offers a good selection at a reasonable price and the staff were great but unfortunately I was not overly impressed with the food itself. The extras and starter dishes were tasty but found the vegetarian dishes to be overcooked and quite bland. Their special offers are good value and the staff were impeccably polite and helpful so I may try something else off their menu and give them another chance or try dining in the restaurant instead in future.

Went here for the first time on a Saturday. Had a boards deals voucher and had 3 courses from the regular menu. Every course was absolutely delicious, chicken tikka was particluarly good. Would recommend the chicken jalfrezi, its not too spicy! Naan bread was also fantastic. The authentic indian dessert (sweet dumplings) was great and a good change from typical frozen indian desserts. Service was excellent! Noticed you can get two courses and a bottle of wine for 49.95e. One of the best Indian meals I've had in Ireland!

Looking for authentic Indian food - then look no further! For over six months, I have heard of the glories of this place - and sadly, it's only been tonight that we went to Punjab Balti for dinner. Fantastic! We're a tough lot to please, and this place just excelled! We made reservations over the phone - and the chap on the phone was very professional and courteous. We got to the restaurant a few minutes early, and were shown to our table. Very comfortable chairs, nice music, soft lighting, an excellent waiter, and absolutely delicious food! We left very satisfied. This place is rightfully popular. Worth every cent! Definitely recommended, and we'll definitely be back!

I have been to Punjab Balti twice now in the last three weeks and have been very, very impressed. The service really is top notch with every waiter we had being so polite, and very informative. They even recommended a dish for my boyfriend on our last visit when he described the type of curry he loves - and he adored the recommendation. I have tried the prawn and fishcake starters both fantastic, and have had the chicken jalfrezi for my mains both times -as it is OUT OF THIS WORLD! It is flavorsome, plentiful with tender chicken, gorgeous spices and lovely veg - I highly recommend trying it :) Tip - Punjab allow you bring both beer and wine in with you (wine is 7.50 corkage, and beer 2.50) which is a really nice option, and are also doing loyalty cards where by if you eat there for two six times, you get your 7th meal for two with wine free! Punjab are pulling out all the stops to prove they can adapt in this recession to the customer, I for one was very impressed by their efforts, great atmosphere, superb service and fantastic food - I will definitely be back!

First time visit and have to say a wonderful experience. Went on a boards deal so wasn't sure what to expect. I have to say food was delicious, portions were huge (by my experience of other Indian restaurants) and service was attentive and friendly. I certainly would go back. All in all a wonderful evening.

This was our first time to Punjab Balti as it was a 'Boards Deal' offer, and what an offer it was, we were given the 'normal' menu and informed we could choose anything from it which was great as such a fab menu, I have traveled the world and been to India many times but the food and service in Punjab Balti was the best I have ever received, our waiter was excellent at his job and a credit to the restaurant, but even more so credit has to be given to the manager he is wonderful i just wish every restaurant in Dublin had a manager like this! he couldn't to enough to make all his guests happy and relaxed, he even found out it was our birthday and brought out a dessert with candles which was a lovely surprise. We would never have gone to Raneleigh only for the 'Boards Deal' but we will DEFINETLY be back.

Took my nephew for his first Indian outing on fri evening around 6pm - the restaurant was busy.. We were welcomed and given an extensive menu to choose from with ample time. We decided to go for the set menu 3 course meal @ €49.95 for2. We got a lovely table over looking the outside and night traffic. Food was very good and nicely presented in a quiet relaxing atmosphere. Complimentary popodum served with various sauce/spices. Our mixed starter was plentiful, all chicken dishes mouth watering and spicey. Then we were given our plates with rice, gerlic naan, followed by Chicken dish, lamb dish and vegetable curry. We both loved the chicken 10/10.. Lamb 8/10 ..we finished off with kheer (indian desert) which was delightful and tea. staff are very polite and nothing is too much hassle for them. Overall lovely, enjoyable ------------we would recommend to all.--------A+

I love Indian cuisine and I find PUNJAB BALTI to be one of the best places to get Indian food. in the city . The menu is very varied with all the usual Anglo-Indian suspect along with traditional dishes. The food is always well presented even if you're only getting an onion bhaji! On the last occasion I was there I got The punjabi boti, it was very well cooked, nice juicy lamb but little spicy, The staff are all very accommodating and helpful, especially if you're not sure what to get! The dining room is basically a big square box with as many tables crammed in as possible, the window seats seem to have more room so try for one of those if you like to spread out! Overall PUNJAB BALTI is The best Indian restaurants in Dublin and has a nice professional touch that I have sometimes found lacking at other Indian restaurants I have visited. Definetly worth a visit to experience good indian food at a reasonable price.... I would really recommend it to everyone.....

First impressions of the restaurant as an Indian restaurant arent great - it's very 'bright', and gives more of an impression of a fast food restaurant rather than a sit-down Indian restaurant. Straters were disapointing the fish cakes were not tasty, hard, and small. The Prawn peri peri, although better, lacked taste. Mains were better Chana Masala a hit with both of us, the Chicken Achari was ok but lacked any particular flavour. Overall the food was hit and miss. The service was very friendly and attentive without being 'in your face'. We had a Boards deal so it was excellent value - but I wont be rushing back. One other thing, although it wasnt turned on, they have a TV in the centre of the main wall - TV's + restaurant is just a HUGE NO for me!

Got a takeaway from there last night. Oily aftertaste on the beef adraki, naan still doughy. It was delivered ten minutes after I ordered, so my order at least was clearly precooked. On the positive side, their website is really good, and so the ordering is easy.

Thank you PUNJAB BALTI for a lovely eveing. From the moment we sat down till we left, Food is as usual fantastice with regainable price, Service is so attentive and polite. We got Fish cakes & mix platters to start, all are very tasty. Presentation is amazing. In mains we shared few sides, They all had distinct flavours and Garlic Naan's were very nice and dellicious. Wine list is very moderated and we had 2 bottles Indian wine. MANAGER was so attentive and welcoming all around, Have to say our wine was topped up at right moments, we didn't even have to touch the bottle of wine. Thats what i call attentiveness and alertness. Without a Doubt,PUNJAB BALTI is the Best Indian Restaurant in Ireland, Exceptional Food blended with Alert Service and Garnished with Amazing Presentation. Beautiful evening, See ya' soon guys

I visited for a quick dinner on Wednesday evening. It was suprisingly busy for a Wednesday with several tables occupied. I was shown to my table and brought the menu with papadoms and dips. I started with the chicken tikka which was very tasty and arrived quickly. I then had the butter chicken with naan bread which was mild but flavourful.the food is usually of a very high standard & this is the best indian resturant in Dublin. Overall a good dinner with exceelent polite service through out. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes delicious Indian food.

I went here with 5 friends. We were delighted going here knowing that it was a bring your own wine. Unfortunately, we only found out that there is an 8euro charge per bottle when the bill came. Boy that was a bit of a let down. There was six bottles of wine! There should be a notice on the door or menu letting customers know about the corkage fee. Besides this, the food was great and staff were friendly!

Ordered take out from here. The food was delicious but rather over priced in the sense that rice/naan wasn't included in the price of the main as it usually is on other takeout menus. The waiter taking our call tried to include poppadoms in the order (at an extra cost of €2.50) and dips (at €1 euro EACH) which going on the fact that the sides were extra anyway was pushing it a bit. He also neglected to tell us that orders over €30 get a free bottle of wine and we had to call back to query this. Although deleivery was prompt i'm not sure I'll be calling again!

Ate here last Thursday with a friend. we went for the 3 course meal for 16.95. We shared a lovely chicken tikka and onion bhaji to start, and a chicken korma and achari for mains. The meal came with Naan and rice as well, so all in all very good vaue for money. All washed down with a lovey glass of pinot grigio. Would reccommend.

Had dinner here on Saturday night. Restaurant was not busy but service was very poor. Had to wait over one and a half hours for our main courses. When they came out they were inedible and we ended up leaving. Two other tables also walked out at the same time as us. Staff seemed indifferent to any complaints. Used to be a really good restaurant but will not be going back here again.

Myself and my partner had dinner here on Saturday night and were disappointed both with the food and service although the wine that arrived as part of the deal for 2 courses for €49 was good. I had the chicken wings for a starter which arrived out were burned and inedible. My second course was the Kashmiri Chicken which was bland and had no taste. My partner’s starter arrived and it was wrong and we were asked 3 times whether we were sure it was not what we ordered. Eventually the wrong one was taken and replaced…we will not be back. Also the resaurant was extremely cold.

Having been here only a few times, its like they improve their standard of food every time I visit, and the service is second to none, lovely waiting staff, very professional.... Its authentic indian food, just traditional, the restaurant itself, decor and all... After my viset to India I would recommend this restaurant to anybody who wants to try true indian food..

Been several years since I last ate here and my memories of it were good. Went here last friday night with three friends and frankly, the food was very very poor. Between us we had: Chicken Kashmiri - the chicken was leathery, way overcooked and the cream sauce was absolutely tastless, bland as hell. Awful. Calcutta Wali - (cod) The best of the 4 dishes we got, but by no means delicious. Chana Masala - Veggie chick pea dish was OK, have had better in every other indian I've eaten in. Prawn Tandori - Was horribly dry and so overcooked, burnt in places. Also, the service was very slow despite only a few tables being full. Left the place feeling robbed. none of us will ever be back.

I'm a big fan of Indian food and used to eat here a lot some years ago. On my return I ordered a take away, specifying medium spicy, but it was so bland I had to throw it away....I'm sure indian food lovers understand what I mean. Rather than complain to them, I simply won't be back...ever!

I went to Punjab Balti last weekend after a while with my friends. This Indian restaurant is a cut above some of the others on offer. The mains were tasty and hot with beautiful intense flavours and the naan and raita nice and fresh. The space is surprisingly nice and you feel a world away from busy city life. Although it is right on the doorstep. All in all though, an enjoyable visit.

I have only ordered takeaway food from here but after the last time i won't be any more. The food was quite tasteless and compared to other Indian restuarants in the area. It just came across as bland, as as we're obsessed with Indian food it says alot if myself and my partner leave our dishes half empty. However, the staff were lovely and very helpful.

I was never expect the food would be extremely testy. I was having Lamb Chili Masala and the Pulau Rice, it's was very good. But i don't like the restaurant atmosphere, it's was very simple. and the seating was a bit closer together. But i do really enjoy the food. The service was very good and fast. Looking forward to bring my family this time. Diffidently be back soon. Well done Punjab!!!

One of my fern recommended to go to this Indian rest. And i must say, it is amazing (Indian) food i haven't eat so far in Dublin. I love the Preswari naan,Lamb Rogan Josh and the Tandoori Chicken. I wonder how they cook, i wold like to take the cookery class if any chance. They have well trained staff and very friendly too. The rest is a bit bright and simple deco. Well hope they come out with some ideas soon. I'm sure i will be back soon. this time planing to bring my ferns.

I went for dinner on a busy Saturday night, and being a devoted takeaway customer I was expecting the usual great curries. The food is top quality, a lovely selection of dishes, (best Chicken Tikka Biryani in Dublin ),so despite the fact that the service was a little slow on a busy night, it didnt hamper our experiencec overall. Decor simple, great location in Ranelagh village centre, suitable for town and Ranelagh/ Rathmines/ Donnybrook dwellers. Not cheap but reasonable for the quality of ingredients and the reliability of the dishes. Ive been back several times!

On a recent stay in Dublin, my wife and I decided to avail of their 50/50 offer with the bottle of wine. Restaurant is very simply decorated but a little bright for my liking. Anyways, the food. As someone who likes and can cook Indian food at home, i'd like to say the following... Chutney's were very average.. compare to a lot of other indian restaurants. We shared a Chiken Tikka for stater.. charcoal flavour mainly but four big chunks of chicken on the plate served with a vinaigrette salad??? ( the salad was all wrong ) I must say, at this stage I was thinking this is gonna be a disaster. My wife had the Lamb Gorkhali, which was a mild creamy curry with cashew nuts and coconut.. not a lot of lamb but lots of really good sauce and the lamb was top notch.. really good dish. I had the lamb vindaloo, again, not a lot of lamb, but a nice spicy curry which was very well prepared and had a lot going on. Pilau rice was really good.. but had to order a third portion. Peshawari Nan was yummy with lots of coconut and really sweet... and the waiter suggested a bottle of Rioja wine which was was again, top class. So, fantastic staff, top notch mains, average starter and terrible chutneys... small portions, but it was only €50 for the lot. If u like your curries, it's worth a visit but if the portions are the same size for the full price menu... honestly... I'd give it a miss.

Yesterday was my first time in Punjab Balti. Went there with a group of friends. Well, the overall impression is good - the restaurant is nicely decorated and the service was good. However, the food was not as delicious as I have expected - it was good, but not spectacular. We just just a main course, and I had a fish in spices (sorry, do not remember the name) - it was ok. When I was ordering it, I did not think that I should should order rice with it (kind of assumed that it will come with the fish), and the waiter did not offer it, so that was a bit disappointing, when my fish came and I realised I need something else like rice or naan to eat it. Did not try the desserts (because no one else in the group did), but the selection looked pretty impressive - not boring banoffi and creme brule, which can be found anywhere, but something actually unsual. Would like to come back to try these desserts! Also was disappointed that the waiter did not offer us an early bird manu - just noticed it now here on menupages, so we paid for our main nearly as much, as we could have paid for starter, main and a glass of wine! Overall experience was ok, nice food, but not spectacular.

My partner and I ate here last night and it was absolutely wonderful. The service was excellent, our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The food was beautiful. I had samosas and curry, my partner had lamb to start and chicken tikka. It was really lovely. Half way through our meal we heard the waiter talking to the couple beside us, he offered them a free dessert as it was part of an offer they had on. When we paid our bill they also took 50% of the food bill off. So for two starters and two main courses and one bottle of wine we paid 44.50!!!!! We couldn't believe it. It would have been almost 70 euro if we had paid the full price. They have a deal going at the minute - it doesn't seem as though there are any restrictions there either as it wasn't part of an early bird or anything like that. We will definitely be back!!

Our second Punjab Balti meal, the first being a take-away. The place is nicely and sparsely decorated with white walls. Even though the tables are close together it's fine as it's not disturbing, The food is excellent. We'll be back again for sure, whether it's a take-away or in-place dining. The only slight snag, in my opinion, is that the hot dishes aren't particularly hot (same comment I have for all restaurants I've been to in Dublin claiming to server hot (spicy) dishes). Must be the Irish palate... The Service was good, attentive and fast. Since the food is good, though somewhat pricey for the amount served, I consider it well worth the money.

I have an addiction for the mint dip that comes with their poppudums, amazing. I'm not keen on the starters, so tend to stick with Balti beef or a mixed grill and their great pilau rice. I'm also not keen on the room, it should be fine, but it's not. The atmosphere is on the wonky side. Take out only for me (and lots of it!).

what a lovely restaurant, really top notch food and the service was excellent, athmosphere was very romantic with the lovely lights, however, 1.the takeaway menu offers and specials are way out of date 2. the loyalty card mentioned on the menu meant nothing to the waitresses when i asked them 3. prices are a bit steep and 4. felt a bit pushed into giving a bigger tip than what i gave (got a dirty look), while i dont mind tipping, i'll give what i have on me and what i can afford, otherwise really enjoyed it and will go back

When is a baji not a baji? This used to be my favourite Indian in Dublin, but after last night no more. Value for money has evaporated like the steam from my pilau rice. The onion baji is now merely a thin onion flavoured patty, and the main courses are rediculously expensive, but still tasty. The wine list has remained reasonable and the service faultlessly friendly. Drop the prices and we'll be back!

Yummy yummy dinner last night - think I'd go back just for the peshwari nan! If only I hadn't eaten so much before, I would've been able to eat more of this! All round excellent restaurant that we took a chance on, not knowing anything about, so were really pleased. Not bad price wise either - certainly didn't break the bank!

This is my favourite indian in town. I always get the onion bhaji to start and the mixed grill as the main. The staff are super friendly and will give you advice on what you are ordering. The portions are very generous as well.

Easily the best restaurant in Ranelagh and one of the best Indians in the city, Punjab Balti is authentic and welcoming. The small corkage fee means that you can treat yourself to a nice bottle of Reisling (excellent with the subtle spices) and their new loyalty card keeps you coming back for more. Dedicated to warm and friendly service, you'll more than likely be asked to fill out a short customer questionairre. Be sure to try the succulent lamb Rogan Josh and the Goan prawn curry. If you don't have the time to sit in, their take away service is also great value.

My meal in Punjab Balti was the nicest Indian meal I've ever had. I was pretty much a virgin to Indian food before coming here, but now I'm absolutely hooked. The service was A1, we really felt like we were having a treat. And we had a lovely bottle of wine to top it all off. A great dining experience, I can't recommend it highly enough.

We really enjoyed our meal at the Punjab and thought it excellent value at €14.95 including a glass of really acceptable wine. The service was very friendly and efficient and the atmosphere very pleasant. We had a potato starter plus a minced lamb starter, both presented beautifully and very tasty. The chicken Balti was a bit bland, but the rice the best I've eaten in an Indian restaurant - fresh, fluffy and perfectly cooked. The Rogan Gosh was really good. On a previous visit we had the tandoori fish, which was delicious. We will definately be returning yet again!

I ate here with my boyfriend the other night for the first time, and for an Indian restaurant in Dublin it is not too bad. We both ordered starters - I had the vegetable samosa and he had the vegetable pakora - I have no idea what the rest of the starters are like, but based on the two that we got, I wouldn't recommend anybody to buy the starters - absolutely tiny for the price you pay, and pretty tasteless and slighly overcooked - and to be honest it seemed like my vegetable samosa was simply the frozen kind you can buy from the supermarket. That being said the mains were reasonably tasty - if you are not an Indian food connoisseur then I think they would pass the test. Could not fault the restaurant on the service by the waiting staff.

Fantastic little restaurant! If you are looking for a nice pleasant, unpretentious dinner that is great value for money, this is the perfect place. The service is friendly and efficient. The décor is comfortable and charming and reminds me of traditional Asian restaurants in Ireland when I was a kid, not the sleek and trendy Asian fusion eateries that have become very popular of late. I have been here a few times and never seen the all the tables full. However this is not a reflection on the quality of the restaurant. The special offers and early bird dinners are great value and not the usual stingy menus offered on many early bird menus around Dublin. The food is armoatic, colourful and delicious; from the tasty complimentary dips and poppadoms, the chicken korma and the tikka masala, to the Aloo Saag and lamb Jalfrezi; the choice is fantastic. You'll leave this amiable little eating emporium satisfied with a very full belly and a surprisingly full wallet. Well worth a visit

Not great. The naan bread looked like it was out of a packet and both our meals looked and tasted very similar - although they shouldn't have been! Even the dips seemed quite "fake" - the mint and yoghurt dip was a lurid green colour. However, the service was pleasant, the food was okay and the place clean and comfortable.

Had the early bird @ 14.95 for starter, main course and glass of wine which was excellent for the price paid. Water, poppodoms and 3 lovely dips arrived while looking at the menu which consisted of a choice of 3 starters/mains, one of each was vegetaran. Quality of food and presentation were excellent, and wine was actually quite drinkable which was a bit of a surprise considering the low price! Service was very good and low key. It's a pity it wasn't a bit busier as the atmosphere wasn't great for a Thursday evening, and the background music was seriously dodgy, but overall a very nice meal out..

We stopped in for their early bird menu on Tuesday evening. There was a large group down the back and us. The early bird is fantastic value at €14.95pp. It includes 2 coures plus a glass of wine. It is limited but contains the usual favourites including vegetarian options. We were given poppadoms and 3 types of chutney which we thought was a nice touch considering the price we were paying! For starters we had lamb shish kebab and a potato fritter with chickpeas and for main we had chicken korma and lamb rojanjosh plus rice plus naan. The food overall was delicious with the star being the potato fritter. Would definitely recommend this place for the ealry bird, value is excellent with more than enough food for 2 plus a glass of house wine each.

I was surprised to find the restaurant was so busy at 7.30 on a Wednesday evening but perhaps the special offer for two courses and a glass of wine at €14.95 is responsible for that. It is a limited menu but is still very good value and we all enjoyed our meals. In contrast to my previous visits I found the service very slow - it took almost an hour from the time we arrived before our starters arrived. Nevertheless, I would be happy to return and perhaps try the Kulfi (Indian icecream) which sadly has not been available on two of my three visits to this restaurant.

After a very long time since the last visit we decided to give it a go and went to Punjab. The place has changed a bit, they also have new tableware which is not as nice as the old one. It is rather modern than traditional. However, we really enjoyed ourselves. I had chicken masala and my partner chicken korma. The food quality was perfect as per usual, just the price of one main! It's really dear + you have to pay extra for a side dish. We brought our own bottle of wine and paid 7.95 corkage which was ok. The staff were nice and paid attention to us at all times.

This restaurant appealed to me as advertisements on the flyers say you can bring your own drink for a SMALL corkage fee. However, as we found out the math doesn't exactly match up if you bring in your own bottles of beer...as it costs a whooping 3.75E PER bottle opened! Thereby, working out cheaper in fact if you DON'T bring your own booze! (Note: Its 7.50E corkage per bottle of wine. Which will really only work to your advantage if you like your wine really cheap or really expensive). So that money saving plan i had to head to this restaurant and bring my own drink really didnt work ! Did actually end up eating their as it was only after we had given our bottles to the waitress that we saw the 3.75 opening fee. So we just floored our bottle of beer and left. On a positive note the interior, atmosphere and waitress were all very nice!

Have been looking forward to eating here for ages. We were seated in the middle of two other couples right in front of the window. I ordered a bottle of wine while we were browsing the menu. We decided not to go for starters as we were having deserts! We ordered two mains & waited for the food to arrive. Half an hour later & having called two different wait staff to enquire after our food - it finally arrived. Bottle of wine gone so ordered another one! Asked for additional sauce with main course - which arrived when main course was finished. Noted couples either side of us arrived after us & were served starters & mains before we were served...bottle of wine was more expensive than two mains! Having said all that the food was delish. Finished mains & had to call waiters again to remove plates (almost 15 mins after we finished) no one else seemed to be having these problems! I complained to waiter as I wanted to try their deserts but was left waiting far to long. They offered free deserts which was a nice touch but frankly it was too little too late. Might get a take out as the food is good but won't be hurrying back to the restaurant the service was dreadful.

I was here recently, for the first time in years. Had the Spinach Paneer dish with Naan and Rice. As with all Indians that's a lot of food. Very tasty. Service was good, it was later in the evening so I can't say much about the atmosphere. The menu has a pretty good selection (lots of dishes for vegetarians) and many dishes have full plate and side plate options which is great if you want to try a few things. Even though they have a beer & wine license they still do BYOB. This is not really highlighted on the menu. A few doors down you'll find an off license with more beers that you could ever drink. Corkage is reasonable enough - compare a €2.30 500ml Russian beer from the office license + €1.50 corkage to the €4.95 that's charged in the resturant for a 330ml Cobra and you'll see what I mean.

I wasn't impressed with the food or service in this restaurant. I ordered a dish with paneer cheese only to find that there was only one piece of paneer in the dish. I have eaten here a number of times over the last few years and have noticed a slip in standards over the past year.

I recently ordered take away from here before a night out. With little time to spare before making the journey to town myself and my girlfriend decided the haste of a take away was our best option. I ordered at 15 past five and was told that because deliveries started at half 5 the food would be 45 minutes. An hour after placing the order I rang to inquire about the order which was supposedly on its way. The restaurant is a ten minute walk from my house, the food had to be heated in the microwave and we we're charged for delivery. Not very impressive

I have only ever ordered for delivery, but it's usually quite fast and always correct. The portions are very large (especially the naan bread) and it's never too spicy or too mild. We always get at least two meal's worth out of one order (dinner one evening and lunch the following day) and it keeps very well. The price is a bit expensive judging from their menu, but the portions are worth it!

This was a lovely place to eat. The kind of place you pass every day of the week and never think to call in to until you hear about it from someone who lives miles away. The menu was very full and the staff were excellent. For the price that we paid for our meal it is really of the highest quality. We turned up without reservation at about 7:30 and were seated immediately and without problem. We did let them know that we would be leaving early and the restaurant was quite empty but there was no problem anyway which is always good. Even the constant stream of customers (obviously more 'in the know' than I) who were coming to collect their take-away were not a problem as the double-door kept the wintry cold out and they were kept to the area around the reception desk.

I do like my Indian Food, and this is one of the best in my opinion. Me and my girlfriend have eaten here several times and get take away from here very regularly, and i've yet to be disappointed with the food. The only thing that lets it down is how long they take to deliver the food, we're talking normally between an hour and an hour and a half, every time (and we're not that far away from it, about 10min's in the car)

We were looking for something different to try on a Friday night and stumbled on this little gem via menu pages. Two of us opted for the Halloween special set menu in Punjab balti. The food description on menu was really according to the festival and they also put some Halloween decorations in the restaurant and food itself was also of a very high quality and generously portioned. I went for set menu and my partner choose regular menu. The dishes on set menu was absolutely different then their regular menu. In particular the food was very high quality and generously portioned. was tremendous value for money for 4 course meal at 29.95 and the members of staff were always attentive and polite, even agreeing to swap one of the dishes in the set menu for another. It's a little off the beaten track but that is no bad thing. This is by far the best Indian restaurant in Dublin 6 and I will definitely be heading back soon to try their next festival menu.

Having dined there about fifteen or twenty times, plus many more takeaways, I find this to be the most consistent and superior Indian restaurant I've ever been to. The takeaway quality is better than average but they really excel on the 'dining-in' experience. Admittedly I've had one average dish, but that's not bad considering how many exceptional ones I've had and how many exceptional ones my friends have had. I'm vegetarian and my friends are not - but all are catered for with tremendous range; equally important is the difference between the different dishes - it's not a case of selling one curry under five names - all dishes are individual, distinct and all are worth trying. The food is exceptional, fresh, and good portion size. The interior is very clean and modern with traditional effects and great atmosphere. Excellent value for money, although wine by glass prices are a little expensive if you venture further than just Cobra beer. Seriously - this is the best Indian restaurant in Dublin i have ever visited.

I met some friends and booked a table at Punjab Balti last night using the buy one get one free main courses deal. Great offer and worth the visit. Has a nice ambiance and well cooked home made style dining. I ordered the Punjab Lamb for main and it was beautiful, well cooked and flavoured. Personal attention from the owner was appreciated. Shall definitely go back

Got Takeaway before many times but This was my first time to dine in this restaurant. My wife and I had an evening free from the baby and wanted a nice dining experience. Well The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was superb with a mouth-watering selection in a very colourful menu. Courses were served at a pleasant pace respecting our enjoyment of the evening. Would recommend fully.

Three of us dined here on Sunday evening prior to the Leinster match. We restricted ourselves to main courses with naan breads. The servings were quite big which suited us as we were hungry. The chicken biryani, chicken balti and chicken tikka marsala were excellent. The service was a bit slow to start with but once another waiter arrived things sped up and we were finished in plenty of time to get to the match. The atmosphere was a bit dead. Would like to go back when there was a bigger crowd present. All in all a good experience

visited balti house last week found it had everything we wanted excellent food and a good atmosphere. It was not too busy so we could really enjoy our food. I found the curry to be exactly to my taste. The staff were very friendly especially the young Irish girl who served us. We will definitely be returning....

My boyfriend and I ate here last night. This was my first time having Indian so I didn't know what to expect. There were plenty of free table so we were seated very quickly. I had vegetable korma with pilau rice, which was delicious and my boyfriend had chicken curry & chips(medium), which was spicy but not too hot. Both were delicious, the only thing is I would have liked more vegetables. I also had a glass of wine, was very nice. I like the fact you can bring your own if you wish, which I will, next time. I found the waiters to be efficient and friendly without being over bearing. I will definitely go back, and be a little bit more adventurous the next time!

This used to be our favorite Indian restaurant but when my boyfriend and I visited a few weeks ago we were quite disappointed. Although the food is still very good the service was slow and they really did not seem bothered in an almost empty restaurant and the prices seem to have suddenly gone up quite a bit. Still great food, shame about the rest.

After reading the comments on this page, I felt it was time I tried out this restaurant! How disappointing! The service was terrible. When we entered the restaurant, there were no staff to be seen. We knew it was open because there was another couple there eating but it took almost 5 minutes for us to be noticed and then seated (by the manager I think). The food was ok. Not amazing and could definitely have been a lot hotter. We sat with out empty plates for about 10 minutes whilst the waitress stood close by and then decided to walk to the back of the restaurant to the staff area. After about 15 minutes the manager came and cleared our table. We asked for the bill at this stage but after another 10 minutes when it didn't arrive, we ended up going up to the counter where the waitress was hanging around and paying. Overall, the food was good but don't expect good service.

Being a big fan of Indian cuisine I was delighted to discover this restaurant, the food is to die for! I also discovered that I haven't been eating true Indian food until now in fact as so many meals in various restaurants in the past ended in disappointment with bland generic sauces which made the prawn dish taste practically the same as the chicken dish with poor quality ingredients & lack of creativity! Here the food was fresh, vibrant, affordable & with extremely generous portions. With a huge variety of really interesting dishes I felt spoilt for choice & could very easily become a veggie, such was the enticing selection there alone! Thankfully I succumbed to the prawns & savored what has to be the nicest most mouth watering biggest prawns ever! The rice was cooked to perfection & a side of salad was a crunchy & refreshing contrast to what has to be THE best Indian food I have ever tasted! The staff were really helpful in assisting with recommended dishes & wines & made time to ensure we were content throughout our meal - without fussing over us! There was a large group also dining there & we all received equal attention. With a very nice subtle relaxing decor, it made for a really lovely overall experience & I will definitely be entering it into my little black book! It's almost too nice a place to share but how could I deny everyone else such pleasure? Besides, with prawns as huge as those there's more than enough to go round!

I have been to this restaurant a number of times before, and always found it friendly, tasty and good value. Unfortunately this was far from my experience when I went there for a quick dinner with my boyfriend last Friday night. There had been some changes to the decor, particularly in replacing the classy wooden frontage with what looked like a beer bottle label. Although the same old menu was displayed at the door, inside there was a second menu, which seemed to be advertising a pre-packaged convenience meal with the restaurants name and logo. This was a worry, but based on previous experience we went in anyway. As it was early in the evening, 6pm, we were the only people in the restaurant. First of all we were stared at by the obviously bored staff from the moment we entered until the moment we left. Although this was off-putting to say the least, it was with the food I had my real issue. Far from the normal rich tasty fresh food, this started as a bland and ended up being fairly awful. My boyfriend (a fan of spicy food) asked for his chicken madras extra hot, a request which was met by sprinkling a handful of dried chilli flakes on top of a very ready-meal looking madras. My food- looked and tasted like bland brown sludge. It was in trying the chicken however that things really went wrong. It had a horrible, artificial taste, and was a strange consistency. On cutting it open we also found, in both our dishes that it was very poor quality, full of black pieces and veins. Neither of us ate very much, but felt unwell for the whole next day based on the bit we did eat. We then asked for the bill, waited 15 minutes for this as the staff stood and chatted to each other, and were given a fistful of fivers to make up our 40 euros change- without so much as an apology for the ridiculous change, or a 'how was your meal'. Very sad to see such a decline in what was an excellent eatery. I certainly wont be back.

Was here at the weekend. Service was great until the end when the waiter cleared our plates and cleared off. we had to practically beg for the bill!Other than that, food was v good with decent portions and you don't feel like you're being ripped off..a statement rarely made these days.

I was here on Saturday night with my better half and was brilliant. It was the second time I had been there in 2 weeks and was even bettter than before. The food is delicious, would definitely recommend allo chop for starter and the lahoori chicken quarters with tikka sauce for main. Great service, attentive and never intrusive unlike other places I could mention. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be going back, I'm looking forward to it

We went here at the weekend and really enjoyed it. The food was lovely, the service was attentive without being intrusive, plenty of choice on the wine list and all very good value, the onion bhajis and samosas are excellent. Shall definitely be returning.

Gorgeous! I wasn't a big fan on Indian until I went to this restaurant - it's changed my views for the better! I ordered a Korma dish which was really tasty. The only downful was the service, we waited ages for our meal.

I adore the food here. The portions are a little small for the price you pay though and the atmosphere is a little dead. Fine for a casual meal.

I was back here just over a week ago and been here a few times before. The good curry keeps on calling me back. I love the peshwari naan. Had the Lamb Chilli Masala, which was hot and spicy, and none was left behind. We were a party of 8 and there were no grumbles to be heard. We all left feeling well satisfied and will be back again soon.

Went here again last weekend, as usual the food was excellent! They have got rid of their bring your own bottle policy but the wine list is extensive and not over priced. They have also changed the menu a little but the food has remained as good as ever. To start we had onion baji’s (fantastic), grilled prawns (very tasty) and meat balls (spicy!). For mains we had butter chicken, which I can honestly say was the nicest Indian dish I have ever had, it was amazing! We also had chicken bhuna and jalfrezi, both good but not a patch on the butter chicken. Will definitely keep going back here, service is great and have never had reason to fault the food. Keep up the excellent work.

The food here was lovely and the service was great. I went with my boyfriend - there's quite an intimate atmosphere so it's a nice place to go for a romantic meal. I had chicken jalfrezi which was gorgeous, there was nothing left on either of our plates!

It passed all my expectations, the service was very good, and efficient. However, the restaurant charges extra for rice, which in my mind, If I'm paying a high enough price for my main course, surely I don't have to pay extra for rice, when clearly my Chicken tikka would need rice with it! If you can see past this, the food quality is good, as is the service. Not a very busy restaurant for it's location though, maybe because they charge extra for Rice!!!!!

I went here last night with 3 friends. We arrived with our wine only to be told that as of March 07, the bring your own option was suspended! Not a great way to start the night. 3 of the girls went for the early bird but I couldn't see a vegetarian option on the early bird menu. Everyone was happy with their food, the atmosphere was good and we weren't rushed in anyway which was nice.

My husband and I have been here several times over the years for both a quiet meal together as well as for family celebrations. It really is a lovely restaurant. The food is great - fantastic selection of vegetarian dishes. The service is very good, and the atmosphere is fun. Don't know if they still do a Bring your own option, the last few times we were there they did which is cool.

I have eaten in Punjab Balti House on many occasions. This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best Indian/Pakistani restaurant in Dublin, if not in Ireland. It is a Bring Your Own Drink restaurant, and there is an excellent off-licence next door. If you are unsure what food to order, let your waiter order for you. You will not be disappointed.

I went to the Punjab Balti House last night with my husband. We arrived at 6.30 and the place was already buzzing. Our waiter was from Nepal. He was very friendly and informative. We started our meal with the usual complimentary poppadams and dips. These were deliciously fresh and crispy. Our starters were vegetable samosa and bhaji. Again, these were deliciously fresh and succulent. We ordered three vegetable side dishes to share as our main course. I love food piping hot and really enjoy the usual Indian practice of having a heated utensil under the dishes. This is not done the in the Punjab. As a result, the food went cold very quickly. The side dishes were fine but nothing spectacular. The wine was really beautiful. It was a Chilean wine called Botalcura and it was so dense with berries and beautifully smooth. Our waiter informed us that he had the job of tasting the wines as most of the staff are Muslim and so abstain from alcohol. There was a great atmosphere and wonderful service. I just feel the side dishes were nothing outstanding and should have been heated more.

I have been to this place quite a few times and must admit, this is one of the best Indian/Pakistani restaurants in the town. Food, service, ambience all 5 star, great value for money...
