The first thing that strikes you about The Dropping Well is that its really busy. This must be a good sign I thought as we was shown to my pre-booked table. There was a large crowd of us and the table we were given was cramped but sufficient. We were not allowed bring a buggy into the area either which meant we had to hold sleeping kids while eating. Not very practical. We all ordered and our starters arrived promptly...well most of them anyway. The waitress kept offering us random dishes that we had not ordered and tutting and shaking her head when no one took the random dishes. Between us we had Caesar Salads, Minestrone Soups, Golden Fried Mushrooms and all were deemed to be quite tasty. The same palaver happened with the main courses when she would turn up with random dishes and tut and shake her head when we said no-one had ordered them. She must have come back 4 times to the table before we all had a meal. Most people had the beef which was very fatty and the vegetables and spuds were a bit dry - the peas were desiccated. Others had chicken which they pronounced good. Still others had the chicken curry which they said was very nice. Desert was apple pie and cream which was delicious and a berry compote which was also very nice. Overall the service was awful, the food was middle of the road and the price was around 25 a head with coffee. Wont be rushing back.

Having given The Bank multiple tries I unfortunately have given up on the place! The food itself is ok but the service is so horrendous it simply isn't worth it. It takes at least 30 minutes to get your food and on Tuesday we were waiting for 45 minutes. We, understandably, asked the waitress when we might expect to get our food to which she rudely replied it takes 20 minutes for steak orders, at which point we had been waiting for 40 minutes. Truly a torturous experience and I'd rather starve.

Ate in the bar not downstairs. Had a very efficient waitress but the food was not so good. We both ordered starters and steaks cooked medium, I ordered spicy wedges but was told after some time that these were no longer available. I opted for a baked potato instead. Our steaks arrived totally overcooked and my baked potato was only cooked on one side. The starters were just OK. Will not be going back although I have heard very good reports from this place. Perhaps it was just an off day!!
