I ate in here last Friday night, while the service was excellent and the staff extremely nice the food was not the best, partially due to the menu. The menu was very limited and did not offer many options, especially for one of the party who was vegitatrian. The usual chicken and steak where on it for the rest of us and we ended up going for steak, I asked for mine Medium to well done I got it medium to rare. I have eaten here many times and have always loved it but I think they really have to look at doing something with the menu or Im sorry to say I won't be eating here again. For a Friday night it was extremely quite which suited us but if you are looking for somewhere lively this won't suit.

The food was lovely. It came so quicky servered by the most efficient staff I have seen in a long while. It had a lovely feel to it the atmosphere was perfect. The location for me was perfect right in the centre of donnybrook not too far from town and right on the 46a 39a 145 and lots on other bus routes. I highly recommend it.

Happy with our visit. A quiet Monday night, we had missed the early bird but they gave us this menu anyway - a good start. Had a very nice Rioja Crianza and we began with a black pudding / bread starter - grand, a little dry, a chicken liver parfait - very nice and well balanced and a poached egg and mushroom pastry - nice, very filling. For main course we all had the Fish pie special, delicious, nice pieces of fish and a good, crispy potato top. Nice and hot. We were defeated by the time it came to dessert so we couldn't go any further. Overall a pleasant evening, good value, staff good (except for being issued with multiple wine lists - a minor slip) and very friendly. Will be back.

After a break of two years, went back for lunch today to what used to be Donnybrook Fair and is now The Restaurant. A very pleasant experience. Opted for the Thai Green Chicken Curry with rice and the Cheesecake whilst colleagues opted for other variations. The place was about half full. Service was good. The menu was simple and the price for four of us was very acceptable. The next big challenge will be to see if it is as good as it was on breakfasts!

Excellent food and good prices. I nipped in here for a bite one afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. I had the steak sambo and the meat, sacue and bread were all top quality. At €10 it wasn't badly priced anyway. My Mum had a thai chicken curry and loved it (€13). Service was decent and quick.

I ate here at the weekend with my sister & we throughly enjoyed our experience. The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was lovely & it was great value fo money. We will definitely be going back in the near future. I had the black pudding starter & the cod goujons & both were delicious.

Really good food especially on a very cold night!! Excellent service. Great if you live anywhere nearby to slide home! Did not receive the voucher for the new year though. Aside for that very happy with everything. A lovely pre budget treat!

Aside from the clickety wooden floor noise this must be one of the best dining experiences in Dublin. The food is always well presented, the service is always friendly, informed and watching the tables which I like. We had the lunch menu which is excellent value. I had fishcakes to start followed by home made Gnocchi, my guest had Rocket and red chard salad followed by a tasty steak sandwich. We both enjoyed the Pinot Grigio and were not feeling hurt that afternoon by the €65 bill - one pays for quality and in this case gets value with it.

We ate in Donnybrook farm using our menupages voucher. Was very impressed. They have a set menu for €30 which is great value. We had the mussels and duck leg to start. Mussels were very fresh and tasty. Had the pork and fish pie for mains. The fish pie was a bit salty for my tastes but the pork was delicious. Had the eton mess and baked cheesecake for dessert. They were nice, rhubarb pie looked amazing. The food here is very simple, they use fresh good quality ingredients.Very tasty and good value!

Despite living about 10 doors up from here I'd never been up to the Restaurant! Got a 2 for 1 voucher through the door so thought we'd give it a go. Service was very good, waiter attentive without being over bearing. Room was busy - lots of vouchers being fluttered. We shared a starter of mussels which were lovely. Sauce was delicate and delicious. My main of guinea fowl was tasty and Mr Fish Finger's of pork was very nice if a little overcooked and dry. Waiter recommended the courgette gratin side which was my fave part of whole meal.Layers of courgette and gruyere cheese baked and topped with caramelised red onions. Delish! Shared dessert of chocolate mousse - light and fluffy on top and mega chocolatey at base. Got another voucher through for Sunday Lunch. Guess where I'm going today!

Came here with the Voucher offered here. Food/ingredients was fresh but not as tasty as I expected. Order was not taken accurately, service was not that great either bearing in mind there were less than 10 filled tables that evening. Ordered prawn cocktail from their starter menu with a 5 Euro supplement. There were 5 prawns in it. Fresh but not sure it really warrant that 5 euro extra for that plate. The other starter we ordered was the white wine mussels, which again, was fresh but not tasty. Would visit the Donnybrook Fair anytime again, but not to the Restaurant I think.

This was my first visit to Donnybrook Fair Resstaurant. The atmosphere was perfect. The food was excellent from start to finish. The service was friendly & professional. I would say that the waiter was one of the best I have ever encountered. His knowledge of the menu was incredible. He also advised us on what wine to choose and the wine was so good, we asked if it was available in the shop. He then went to the shop and got some for us. Best service we have come across. He is definitely 5 star. We will certainly be back and will be recommending this restaurant to our friends.

Went for dinner with my husband, this was our second visit, we apriciate the service and the atmosphere. The dinner set menu was limited and bold. The lamp I had was cooked ages ago and the rosti on top of it was burned. My husband had the fish pie and it was ok but not brilliant. Still will go for shopping but never again for dinner to Donnybrook Fair.

This was our first visit here and we were impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the place. Our table was not well-positioned, but we were a last-minute booking so felt lucky to get a table at all, as the place was soon full. Our goat's cheese starters were tasty, though perhaps involved too many competing flavours. For main I had a delicious cassoulet - richly flavoured and well-balanced. My co-conspirator had fish pie, which strangely came with pastry and potato but was moist and full of fish and shellfish. Wine was recommended and proved excellent. We'll be back.

Had brunch this morning and was disappointed. I honestly would have rated the restaurant as simple and tasty, but after the slow service and burnt taste of scrambled eggs which i had to send back, I don't think i'll be going back for a while. In addition, for a restaurant that is above a high quality food store, you would expect a selection of fresh juices and more variety on the menu. No creativity whatsoever. It's a pity really.

Food and service were generally good, but our side orders were not as advertised on the menu. "Green beens in garlic butter" came out as green beens and carrots (not garlic butter). And "red cabbage and apple" was just red cabbage (no apple, which was he ingredient Mrs Mambo was more interested in). A minor irritation spoiling an otherwise good meal.

had a dreadful breakfast here last saturday.my first time dining here and most definitely my last. the waitress was so rude and inattentive.obviously doesnt like her job, everything was such an effort.i had scrambled egg and toast and my friend had the eggs bendict. they were both totally tasteless, eggs soggy and lumped on to dry toast, with no butter, really awful. the eggs benedict were no better. poor value also in monetary terms, grossly overpriced for very mediocre offerings.

Went here for the early bird menu. Good value for really good food. Only complaint would be that the menu was limited unless you wanted to pay a supplement for some of the more expensive dishes on it.

I love this place and come regularly with my children or with friends, sometimes for brunch, more often for dinner. I don't think I've ever been disappointed. I've marked the service down slightly as a particular brunch never actually appeared at the table - but that aside, this is a lovely place.

I've eaten here a few times and have had a bit of a hit and miss experience with it. The food can be really exquisite and seem good value when they get it right but then seem to be totally overpriced when they produce something very average. I have often found the service to be a little bit slow. Having said all that, I would recommend people to try it because when they get it right, it's a good overall experience.
