How places can change - but I'm hoping it was just the night. From having submitted three excellent reviews, I've held off submitting a review because I don't like to be negative. But having sung its praise for over two years, I admit to being very disappointed to be told that I could not have a simple pasta dish because it was "off menu". Others will tell you all about the on menu good dishes. Two months on and I'm still dissatisfied. I do hope it was just the two waiters and not a sign of success having gone to the head - I've not been able to return in case my fears a proved to be well founded.

We visited on a Sunday night, and had to sit upstairs because they were quite busy. We were the only people up there for most of our meal and felt a little bit isolated. The service was excellent, the food was even better. the bruschetta starter was a good size, and seasoned well. The pizzas were tasty but a bit too large for one person. Best part of the meal was the ricotta and spinach tortelloni that came in the best sauce I have ever tasted. The bill for 5 including drinks was about €120 so the value for money was good. I'll definitely be going back, hopefully I'll get to sit downstairs :)

Restaurant very busy, service was quick, was not told above second sitting when booking and was very disapointed to have to leave early. Would not go back for early sitting.

Place is great, went for a family dinner and the staff were great, cheesy italians full of charm. The food was excellent and the portions were great, as we were a big party seen a variety of the food and it all looked good, had the prawns to start and the ravioli for mains and both were beautiful. There was a hen party on at the same as we dined and as the meal was so good, this didn't effect our night in the slightest.

My friend and I went to Ragazzi's last night for her birthday and found it great! The food was very tasty and plentiful, and the service was top class. Waitors were extremely pleasant and entertaining - we'd almost return again just for them! A night of great food, great fun and reasonable prices...we'll definitely return again.

Real Italian food done the real italian way(simple food, cooked to perfection using fresh ingredients). This place has great ambience and friendly, efficient staff. Best to book ahead in advance because this place always full. The prices are really good. Two course early bird @ €19 is a winner. You know you are in a restaurant of quality when you don't have to see 10 plaques at the entrance or the wallls inside covered with reviews from the media etc. Ragazzi seems to have built up a solid customer base by word of mouth and for me thats the best endorsement possible.

I ate there recently with my girlfriend, I had a pleasant experience for a casual eating venue till I got home when my girlfriend told me that one of the restaurant waitors said to her while helping her on with her coat when leaving "why are you with that guy". She was shocked and did not want to make a scene so she said nothing to me till later that evening. Who do these people think they are. Buyer beware especially if anyone is going on a 1st date..

After ordering a bottle of Gavi de Gavi by out 3rd bottle it was switched without us knowing for a Gavi (exactly the same lable), when I noticed the waiter argued with me however when he realised that I knew what I was talking about he appologied. Be very careful check your bill. Also very rude to another of our party due to her wanting to put Parmazan onto a fish pasta. Food is nice if the entire staff could be transplanted.

Second visit to this fabuloue Italian, it was just a wonderful as the first, food service all faultless, wine was a bit pricy but I suppose thats how they make their money, if wine was a little cheaper we may have stayed and drank another bottle instead we went for a cocktail in the local bar. Apart from that a lovely meal great value for the quality of food we were served. we will be back for a 3rd visit.

I will keep the review short and sweet, just like the place itself. Let's just say that its not "the" best pizza place in Dublin, but for the money and especially early bird option you can't get any better value. The place is small (you can call it cozy, if you like, depend on perspective) and it's usually busy. What we didn't really like was that we had to wait 10 minutes at the door when there were places free, and one guy told us that "he will be right back" though no sign of him or anyone else taking any notice for a while. Finally, we got the place (with a friendly smile, so it's not too bad, but a bit frustrating). Anyhoo, We ordered two pizzas finally, and it was well made. Will definitely go back… for the pizza. :)

Went for dinner here on Saturday night. Hard enough to get a table, and they wanted it back by 8.45. I had the caprese salad to start which was a little disappointing, as I have had this here before and the buffalo mozeralla was much better in the past and then a pizza for my main course which was, as always, lovely. My friend had the calamari to start (yummy) and pizza. Atmosphere friendly, staff helpful. Highly recommended.

I am a regular customer ever since the restaurant opened some 12 years ago. The menu, service and atmosphere cannot be beaten. The staff relate very well with customers who are always made feel special and valued. It's a fun place - a little bit of Italy on your doorstep. A couple of hours in Ragazzi is like being on holidays. Consistency in a world gone mad...top class!

Love, love, love Ragazzi Restaurant. We have been going there since it first opened and the food has been consistently good. The athmosphere is warm and friendly and while you sit back and relax you will be served by efficient attentive staff. Perfect for a family outing an evening meal with friends or a romantic dinner for two. Good wine selection to compliment your meal, delicious desserts and good coffee. You may need to book in advance as this restaurant is deservedly popular. Oh and if you don't want to drive, its in walking distance of the dart and taxi rank.

I love Ragazzi's. Its inexpensive, the food is great... Tortellini Ricotta i spinache is my fav!!! Ive eaten here hundreds of times over the years and have never once been disappointed! Fabio runs a tight ship and all his waiters are personable and efficient. It is a typical Italian joint, great for a cheap night out with mates, or a romantic meal for two, (if booking for romance ask for the table for two upstairs in right corner beside window as its the quietest table, and it can get loud in there as everyone is always having so much fun!!!) Its ideal for birthday parties too. Nothing negative to say! A+++

At first we couldn't find the place, because it's sign is hidden, but when we found it, we wasn't disappointed. Well, what can I say - it's very childfriendly place! We've agreed with my family that food is good too. Portions are generous, and desserts are delicious.

I've patronized Ragazzi's for well over a year ever since we found this hideaway eatery in the heart of Dalkey. Every visit the service, cuisine and value has always been exceptional. I brought one of my mates over to sample the irresistible Italian food my partner and I have been raving about and she is now a convert. Without a doubt, every time she flies over from London, she demands we eat at Ragazzi. Every other mate I've taken there has given two thumbs up on the remarkable Italian food they serve. The wait staff are quite charming and talkative without ever being overbearing or annoying. The owner frequents the establishment and appears to be quite favorable with a huge list of returning clientèle. I would confidently state that the staff are attentive, accommodating and friendly. If we ever found any discrepancy with our order, they would rectify the situation immediately, which hasn't ever occurred. I always tell my partner that I'll force myself to try another dish, but the pasta is unreal. The dish I usually order has pasta with spinach in a creamy tomato based sauce. One sampling of it, and its heaven on the palette. The pasta immediately wraps your tongue in a tantalizing and seductive dance thereby melting on your tongue as your mind overcomes its charms. Absolutely divine. I love Raggazi and can't wait to return.

Our first time here on a wet Sunday night and it was a very enjoyable experience indeed. Restaurant is small downstairs but has another room upstairs. We were there at around 5:30 and it was empty it did fill up during our meal and seems to be a busy spot and a takeaway service is avalable. Bruschetta starter with nice sweet tomatoes and good olive oli used. Mains of Spaghetti with fresh clams, asparagus, chilli and garlic was beautifull with fresh ingredients and beautifull fresh taste.Free range chicken in a sauce of mascarpone with small roast potatoes was very tasty and light lovely flavours. We had desserts Panatoni with berries was gorgeous my partner said and she is a lover of Panatoni,I had a chocolate ice cream cake with a hot espresso poured over and it was scrumptious.Only negative was the lack of and Early Bird Menu but this will not stop us from going back again.

First time here last Saturday. Had heard a lot of good reports and was not disappointed. Great atmosphere, great food, good-humoured and helpful service with reasonable prices. I had the carpaccio to start and a contadina (chicken and mushroom) pizza for a main. Both delicious. My three dining companions all raved about their food too. Sambuccas on the house to finish. Can't wait to go back..

What a find. This is a truly authentic Italian Restaurant. I was there with friends on Monday and we had a tasting menu of a few different dishes, including mozzarella and bresaola tart, penne arrabiata, calamarai and chicken in a mascarpone sauce. It was so nice and very reasonable. I ordered a salami pizza to take home and it reminded me of the pizza I had when I was in Italy. They have a nice selection of italian wines by the glass too. I will definitely be going there again soon.

Went here last night for my mum's birthday, 8 of us. Lovely restaurant, great atmosphere and staff are very friendly. Food was delicious, but maybe slightly overpriced i thought. Had the antipasti between 7 of us totaling €55 (eek!) but the mains were good portions size.Had a lovely time overall. Would definatley go back, but maybe not in that big a group again. Very tasty!

We had a lovely pizza bread starter - garlic and thyme I think, wow it was delicious. I like the service - rushed and happy but attentive enough. It's a small squashed up place but not bad at all. Got a decent portion main course and I changed one or two things on the menu and that was no problem which was nice.

We eat here on a regular basis. Easily the nicest italian ive been to in Ireland. I have never had a dish i didnt really enjoy. The staff are also great, there have been a few occasions when, as a result of me eating too fast and my partner eating slowly, the owner has brought me seconds - at no extra charge of course.

Would probably eat here at least once a month. Without a doubt one of the best hidden gems in Dublin when it comes to Italian restaurants. Anything on the menu is worth a try, especially the prawns to start are a must. Staff are excellent and always in great form. Nothing bad to say about this place.

We went for my Daughter's Brithday, as always there was a warm greeting for us. The pizza was fantastic I could not stop eating it, we all enjoyed our food. Of course they sang to my Daughter in Italian. Great night we were a bit dissappointed that the manager was away. We will be Back. Dee

Terrible customer service is our experience of this restaurant. We arrived here at 5pm on Sunday after a 2 amble from Killiney. We were seated at a table by the window upstairs. There were many available seats both downstairs and upstairs. After 20mins of waiting to give our order the waiter arrived to tell us he had made a mistake seating us at the window table and could we move. We paused and he said or I could see if it's ok to leave you here. I replied I was tired and would prefer to stay where we were please as we had settled in in our 20mins wait. He left and came back with the heavies, the manager, who told us we had to move. We left. A terrible way to treat 2 weary customers.

We had a family meal - celebrating an 8th birthday - here last week. I am a long-term fan and it certainly didn't disappoint. The Birthday Girl was especially charmed at being serenaded with the Italian version of Happy Birthday! All of us enjoyed the food - this has to be one of the most fun, best value restaurants around.

The best way to describe this restaurant is cosy, no frills but good food. Myself and a few friends went for dinner here recently and the service was lovely, really friendly and the food was lovely. Its a cosy restaurant and what you see is what you get. Nice for a non-expensive, relaxed dinner.

We ate here on 8 August 2008. The pizzas were by far the worst pizzas we have ever eaten. The pizza base was fine, but everything else was dry and tasteless... cheese, ham, salami, tomato paste were undoubtedly the cheapest processed stuff available ... no olive oil dressing ... no herbs at all (for god's sake!!!!) ... tasteless mushrooms, artichokes and olives, all tasting like the came out of the cheapest of tins ... what's wrong with fresh ingredients.

We had dinner here on Thursday for my birthday and I was very disappointed. This used to be one of my favourite restaurants. I had the Caprese Di Bufala for starters but it was very bland, where was the basil? The fillet steak for mains was just as disappointing. No flavour and quite tough. Still a good buzz there but too expensive for what we got.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Dublin. The food is great but what makes it is the welcome at the door, the style and personality of the service and management and the great simple but wonderful wines. I've never had a bad time at this restaurant. The owners are the most interesting people and it's clear they have a passion about being Hosts to their guests. Check it out it's not expensive but you need to book as it’s often packed. I'm going again this week end and I can't wait...

Don't forget your passport - you're about to enter Italy! This is a great little place that does pasta, pizza & meats. The pizza is very Italian, thin with real mozzarella and great toppings. I love the calamari, very simply cooked which is all you need when the ingredients are this good. Watch out for the waiters though they can get a bit frisky!! Great atmosphere and great food.

The food here is only lovely. Plenty of taste and of good quality. The waiters are friendly and polite. Very small place so you'd want to get your booking in early. Value for money is excellent - definitely worth a visit.

This is a pizza joint with a great atmosphere, would go here regularly enough and the staff generally are a bit of fun and they try and make sure you enjoy your stay with a bit of Italian craic, the food wont blow you away but it will fill you up, one thing to watch out for is that they automatically add a tip onto your bill no matter how many you are, so don't get caught out and double tip.

This is my favourite restaurant in Dalkey, it has a very romantic setting but can be better for a dinner with the friends (especially if you're female, the male Italian waiters like to say hello a few times during the meal and joke around!!). I love the antipasta dish and the ravioli is delicious. The pizzas are very good as well and they have an extensive wine menu. This is a very affordable option in Dalkey and thoroughly enjoyable every time!

Ok so the good stuff first... classic Italian food, decent prices, small cosy restaurant but like all things in life there is a catch...The staff, don't get me wrong they aren’t awful and the service is actually quite good and believe it or not you get quite a bit of individual attention but its not for the faint hearted or those looking for an uninterrupted romantic meal. The waiting staff are out going and have a quirky sense of humour and love playing practical jokes on unsuspecting customers producing hilarious consequences...SO if you have a great sense of humour grab a group of friends and give this place a try...its a great laugh for a group of people

Ragazzi is an institution in Dalkey at this stage! You wont find a place in town where you can get a very good quality food, I guarantee all the products are fresh and from Italy, at a very reasonable price. As an Italian myself I have to say is a great place, the waiters are the way Italians are charming with the ladies without going to far and very good and funny all nite long! The food is very simple and tasty just like home. Great place at weekend to hang out when the atmosphere lights up and it fells like a party all nite long! I am a resident here and I have been eating in Ragazzi for years now and I have to say I never left the place unhappy in what I eat and paid for it! YOU MUST TRY IT!

Really enjoyable experience...went with my of my best friends and we both really enjoyed it. I had the salad with feta and olives for starter and she had bruscheta...both really tasty...we both had pasta for our main courses & portions were huge & really nice. I had prawns in mine and they were so fresh...real value for money. Service was great too.

Have been a regular here in this little gem of a restaurant for many years and intend to be for many more. Ragazzi is as honest an Italian restaurant you are likely to find anywhere on this island. The food here is consistently good and the quality of the thin base pizza is superb, good food, attentive service with lots of good natured Italian banter thrown in, “what more could a body ask for?" You can argue the toss over the price but for me a dining experience should be a pleasurable experiance and its always a pleasure to eat at Ragazzi, so if you are happy a couple of euro here or the is not going to matter just go there enjoy.

It's funny, if you mention Ragazzi to a local in Dalkey the first thing that usually springs to mind is the sleazy waiters! And I see one of the comments here has already reflected that. Yes, they are sleazy, tanned, foreign waiters and they do enjoy playing little tricks (i.e. if a lady asks for the bathroom, the waiter will lead her to a little closet and then crack up hysterically when she realises her blunder). But if you can get past it, I do recommend the food which I've always found tasty and, importantly, reasonably priced. It's Spanish/Italian food. I wouldn't recommend you bring a girl here on a first date but if you're out for a girlie night and want to be "entertained", you could do worse that here!

I actually think the pizzas served here are fantastic, it’s my favourite place for pizza, as I like the thin bases they do. There is a great lively atmosphere and yes the waiters are over the top but it’s worth it for the food and its not too expensive either. Great wine too! Its perfect for a group outing.

What’s all the fuss about? Very, very ordinary pizzas. Dry and tasteless. Pre-baked bases I suspect as well. And lord, those waiters..Sleazetastic.. Really classy. Very off putting when you are trying to eat and you have a lothario trying it on at the next table 6 inches away (though surely less I suspect). And the coffee trick! Ho Ho....Ho. Needless to say I’m not a fan.

Had a fun meal; it's always more fun when you understand the sotto voce comments in Italian made by the waiters!! Consistently good food, but hey where was the bread?

Buzzing restaurant! However the waiters are overly sleazy and service can sometimes be slow. The food is nice. Definitely more for a girls night out than a meal for 2!

We sat upstairs in this restaurant. The major problem was the acoustics, it was far too loud to hear your fellow diners! My husband and son had bruschetta and pizza, both of which were very good. I had the chicken and tomatoes, which was ok.

What is the fuss about here? I had holes on the bottom of my pizza (they were probably frozen), sleazy Italian Lotharios as waiters, and celebrities signatures on the walls!!!!!!! Are people insane to say this restaurant is fantastic???????????

Ragazzi's must have some of the best pizza in town - One bite and your hooked! That's if you can put up with the managers over-bearing comments and general over involvement with your meal. Had and nerve to actually critise me over how I was eating my food!?! (He didn't approve of me putting some extra cheese on my dish). However, a couple of bites into my delicious pizza, after the event - I completely forgot. Little over priced for what you are getting, but is worth it.

Food was absolutely delicious, very fresh and the service was brilliant. Much more authentic Italian than other Italian restaurants around the place. Good selection on the menu with more variety than your bog standard lasagne, spaghetti bolognese, etc. Italian speaking waiters are part of the ambience. I've always had good meals in Ragazzi over the years.

Some friends suggested this place to us, the restaurant is kind of cosy, service was ok, nothing memorable. Not cheap! What’s with the sleazy waiters?? Now that was funny! Very bad publicity for Italian men...

This is a small restaurant that usually caters for couples on the ground level, but can cater for up to 8 people upstairs. The ground level does not have much to manoeuvre. The waiters are typical Italian who think they have a gift to pull every girl in the restaurant. The food is good and very good value.
