I eat here quite regularly and I love it! The food is great, not your usual stodgy, heavy in your stomach chinese. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We go here as a group nearly every week for food, we all love the food, the athmosphere and the staff. I have recommended this restaurant to many family members and friends.

Ate here last night and the results were mixed. The service is extremely warm and friendly, I was made feel very welcome. The decor is quite typical of a chinese restaurant I suppose, nothing too modern or anything but quite nice. The food is ok. A bit hit and miss, I hate vegetable spring rolls which were nicer than average and vegetables with cashews nuts which had a great range of very fresh vegetables and the sauce was quite tasty. My friend had sweet and sour chicken which I thought has a really strange taste off it, bordering unpleasant but she loved it so it's a mixed bag really! She thought her noodles were not at all palatable but my fried rice was cooked nicely.

came here as part of a group of 50 people who had booked out the restaurant. A set menu was put on which was disappointing however the food was pretty ok. I had sweet and sour prawns for mains with fried rice. I didn't think it tasted anything bettter than from a local takeaway however. I also had red house wine which was actually very nice. The one thing I would say is that although the staff were friendly, they hassled a lot about paying for drinks and it left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. I actually wouldn't bother returning as I didn't like the decor and I thought the food was of bad quality for the price. There are much better quality chinese's around for the same price

Response:
Why is the review fairly negative but the restaurant still gets 5 stars?

Four of us visited here on Saturday evening and we very pleased with the service, the quality of the food, the atmosphere and the value for money. If you visit Dalkey at any time and like Chinese you must visit here, it cannot be beaten and is the best Chinese restaurant on the south side of Dublin, Highly recommended.

I like this place, its my favourite chinese in the dalkey area. I think its has very nice dishes with above average standards. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, they are So nice. The place has some authentic asian decor of which I love to see when eating out in a chinese restraunt. I would like to return in the near future.

This is one of the only Chinese restaurants that I eat in. I have been here on many occassions and have always found the service to be fantastic and the food to be super. The menu is huge and offers a variety of chinese dishes. The restaurant interior is a bit old fashioned but that adds to the restaurants authenticity. The staff are so friendly and go out of there way to make any dining experiences very enjoyable. On a number of occassions, after eating with a group we have been given complimentary drinks after our meal.

Fantastic restaurant, can't fault them. The only slight dissapointment is the atmosphere, it can be a little on the quiet side at times. Having said that, it is a lovely place to go for a treat. Food id fab, staff are so sweet, and value for money is excellent. I'd highly recommend this restaurant for either a sit down meal or a take away

Yummy food. Not often a lot of people there, so lacking in atmosphere, unless you want somewhere quiet. Waitresses are extremely friendly. Not too expensive. Nice place : )

If you are looking for tasty food and huge helpings then you wont be disappointed if you visit the Castle restaurant in Dalkey south county Dublin. We visited there on Tuesday night the 8th of July and were once again delighted with the food and the excellent service we received from two very attentive waitresses. The restaurant is located on Castle street and is within walking distance from the dart station. You are in for a treat.

I'm sure that I just had a bad experience here the other night but it was very poor, even by Irish Chinese joints go. I'd the steamed king Prawns that indeed were steamed but had very little sauce and just didn't go with rice. The décor was appalling but the service was pleasant. Wouldn't go back, there are much better (& better value)restaurants in the extended area.

This was my first time despite living around the corner. I will definitely be back! The food was great, I'm allergic to MSG and happily found none in any of the dishes! The service was very friendly without being imposing and the Thai selections on the menu were top notch.

Being our local chinese, we eat here quite often and have yet to have a bad meal. The food is always excellent, fresh & well prepared. while the interior of the restaurant could do with an update, it is the staff that make this place - always friendly, smiling & extremely efficient. Highly recommended & really good value.

This place has changed hands a bit over the years! Aprehensively checked it out last week, and it was really good. Chinese food in Dublin is getting a bit tired and staid, but this was delicious - highly recommend the Duck in orange sauce and also the chicken satay starter was lovely - huge main-course size portion, and felt home-made - better than I've had anywhere in dublin. Staff were really friendly and gave our 3-yr-old daughter a lollipop when leaving - always a good move to buy the hearts of both child and parent!

Have dined in and had takeaway from The Castle on numerous occasions, it being my local chinese restaurant. Friendly but not intrusive staff, and consistantly good food will keep me coming back. Singapore noodles are a must have.

Tried the restaurant for the first time and found the food to be average. The staff were very loud, talking to each other from the floor to reception area. We were charged E6.00 for a small side of noodles which, when we queried the price, were told it was right, only to find out from the external menu as we left that it should have been E3.00. Wont be going back.

I like the atmosphere in this restaurant, and the service, but the food really is good. Some of my companions found the portions a bit small, but the quality of the food made up for it. They have quite a good wine menu and a very competent chef.

A very nice Chinese in the centre of Dalkey. Food and service were both excellent. A great selection of wines. Ate here the day after Valentines and was given a Rose after my meal. Only something small but still a nice touch. Would highly recommend the Duck in Crab Meat sauce.

Just spent a very nice evening at the castle Chinese restaurant, it was a family dinner, and we all really enjoyed it, the set menu is very good value and the portion of prawns in the main course was excellent... our three children were well looked after, and they enjoyed the chicken wings, curry and ice-cream. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Chinese food and we'll be visiting it again soon.

Generally the same as every other Chinese restaurant in Dublin, nice restaurant, nice food, nice location... Central to Dalkey if you’re heading for pints afterwards.

Love the Castle, I have been going there since it opened. The food is gorgeous. The only bad thing is the staff are a bit hit or miss, they're either really friendly or rude.

We had to sit and dine in the restaurant with our jackets on, as it was that cold. We even mentioned this to the management and they said it wasn't cold at all. I said that everyone in the restaurant is sitting with their coats on! The lady then moved us next to a radiator, even though it did not make much difference.
