It was years since i was here and im glad to see that the menu has finally changed. I had heard it had been taken over and was exited to check it out. The place itself hasn't changed much but then again it always looked great. Bright and airy. It was the evening when myself and my wife went in for a look. We first sat up at the bar and my wife had a glass of wine while i tried a Guinness mid strength. While at the counter we noticed that other people where having steak on the Stone. We were sold straight away. What an experiance. The steak came out on a 440 degree stone and with all the trimmings. you then cut and cook it yourself at the table. The best steak ive ever had. Will defo be returning soon.

Stopped off for a bite to eat and a drink. Used to be my regular and still a lovely pub with friendly staff. Great choice of food on bar menu but a little pricey in my opinion. Had the pate followed by chicken goujons which are made with real chicken. Hubby had burger which he really enjoyed. Food tasty and above the standard of other pubs we've eaten in but would be great if they did an Early Bird - would encourage people to eat out more regularly

I brought my parents for lunch on Tuesday on the recommendation of my friend. I was very surprised with the quality of food on offer for a carvery. I had a lovely pink roast sirloin of beef dinner while my parents both had the roast leg of lamb. The portions were very generous and we were all extremely satisfied with the meal. There was a good lunch time crowd there, which is always a good sign, and the surroundings were very nice. Suffice to say that I will be back.

No thats it, he replied. Cheeky to say the least.would never return after them trying to pull that one

Ashton's is our local and we would go there about once a month, sometimes more often. We eat in the pub itself, rather than the restaurant section. The menu is the same, but we got into the habit of sitting by the fire during the winter. It's a very cosy pub and has a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff are attentive and friendly. I tend to go for their seafood dishes, finding that the quality of their prawns and salmon is excellent. Prawn dishes are made with flavoursome, fresh prawns and servings are large. My boyfriend tries all the other dishes, having an aversion to all manner of seafood. The only dish that he did not fully enjoy was the burger, but otherwise he finds that he's spoilt for choice when it comes to substantial, tasty dishes. Their desserts are all good, though the pavlova isn't as nice as it could be as I suspect that the fruit served on top comes from a tin. However their warm apple pie is simply delicious, as is the bakewell tart.

Ashtons is a fantastic little spot. In the summer the terrace at the front is a great little sun trap and it has a covered seated smoking section at the side. The service is exceptional and the staff very friendly. When I first went there and told them we'd just moved into the area we were given free drinks to welcome us. The menu is diverse and yummy and the portions are hearty. During the day they have a cold buffet and a carvery which is excellent. They are dog friendly too which is an added bonus.

I went to Ashtons Bar and Bistro at a Sunday with my best friend. I ordered the Vegetarian Stuffed Aubergine Topped With Cream Cheese, Roasted Vine Tomatoes, Balsamic Reduction. It was pretty good but I guess it was early too. Service was fantastic. Very quick and extremely friendly. Both of the food we ordered were lovely and a decent size. That said, an excellent meal for the price. I'd definitely go back!

Very busy place when we arrived here as there were catering for a funeral so the pub itself was quiet packed..for dinner my husband and i both had the marinated chicken with lettuce and blueberry balsamic vinegar and chips..the chicken tasted lovely, and the whole salad would have been more than enough,,,the taste was v nice, one of the best salads we tasted.chips were skinny and fresh..for dessert we both had the diane gateau..it was chocolate sponge with a taste of alcohol, and fresh chocolate cream..very nice..we would def come back to try some of the coeliac food..

I went here with a group of people from work for lunch one day. The food is incredibly tasty, not much choice for vegetarians, but the vegetable stirfry was brilliant and the veg on the side is amazing. The decor is great and the overall atmosphere there made the whole experience enjoyable. Would definitely recommend the place and go there more often myself!

Nice place for a lunch or a Sunday dinner....had the mixed salad with salmon which was huge. Their breads are freshly made and they have a large variety of delicious deserts. not many people in there when I was there but at least we could sit by the window with a view of the river.

visited ashtons on a quiet thursday afternoon - i arrived at a difficult time (3.30 pm) which was between lunch and dinner time. Thankfully they were still serving which was good as i was starving. the menu was filled with the usual mix of beef and chicken dishes with a nice mix of classic and ethnic themes. I got the chicken curry which was a reasonable€15.50 + chips @ 3.50 my partner got a steak sandwich which was a little disappointed as it was drenched in pesto - but cooked nicely if in the area worth a try.

Their menu is expensive for at the end of the day it is a pub. Had a very nice aubergine dish but over price they have a burger that is cheaper. I'd come here if I was treating myself but the bar itself is good and quite for meetings.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Here for food for the first time and I would probably go back. Good seafood, with a great sauce. Nice wine selection. I felt it was a little expensive for what we got but it was tasty and well presented.. Service was fine.

Ashtons is a popular lunch venue for all ages, not just the local suits. The food is always excellent, the only downside is that there is a bunch of older female floor walkers all of whom seem to think that a customer should have no say in where he or she sits, they grab your tray when you've paid at the cash desk and you have to follow them to a table where they've decided you should sit.

Really good bar food - I have been to Ashtons many times and the quality of the food is always excellent. I have had bar food which is reasonably priced and very tasty, and also the carvery which is definitely one of the best carverys in Dublin. There is always a great buzz in Ashtons and the staff are really friendly.

This place has stylish, comfy decor, it's in a pretty location, from which you can take a pleasant walk down the Dodder, and the staff are friendly. We were unlucky in that we just missed lunch so had to order from the a la carte. Not bad, but somewhat overpriced. The prawns and crabmeat in white wine sauce was very tasty, but somewhat lacking in zing. The vegetarian pasta option hadn't been given a huge amount of thought, but it seemed to have been cooked reasonably. It's difficult to get enthusiastic about food like this, but the experience of eating here was perfectly pleasant. Not quite gasto enough to count as a gastro-pub, but that's what it would be if they pulled their socks up a bit.

I was here for breakfast a few weeks ago. It was about 11 on a Saturday Morning and the place was EMPTY. we sat down by the window..nice views but they should go out of the way to get rid of rubbish by the river to make it prettier! We asked for menus and the barman told us he had already ordered two Full Irish Breakfast for us...huh!? we didnt even ask for it but he was really nice so we just went with it!! BReakfast was good and worth the mistake. REally yummy eggs and big fried beef tomatoes. I will probably go back! Have never had dinner/lunch there so don't know what that is like!

Myself an my friends in the gym turn up here occasionally simply because there is parking and it's near the gym. The salad bar is very basic and if you ask for some lettuce with your salad, you are actually charged for a full portion! Was in there a few weeks ago with a few friends and ordered coffees, the waiter came down about five minutes later and asked us if we could pay now! We thought it was very strange but then again, it is in keeping with the general attitude of the place. Nice views, pity about the attitude.

I have had lunch here twice a week for a few weeks now. It is quite pricey for lunch but really good quality food, the soup is really good, the salad bar is a bit ltd but they do have fresh salmon, prawns, crab & cooked meats every day & lovely breads. The staff are super always helpful. Like another user I have noted the old guy who insists on helping you to park.... eh go away. Will always return.

Ashton's pub is in a lovely setting in Clonskeagh. There are large bright windows and cosy couches throughout with lovely views of the river. The owner is quite strange and can nip into the car park quite unexpectedly in order to assist you with parking, even when the car park is virtually empty! It's an expensive enough pub and takes itself a little seriously. That being said, the staff are first class and will help you bring your tray to the table and provide cutlery etc. I have only ever had salads there and they are a little lacking in the imagination. Even though I usually try to mind the carbs, I invariably end up with a potato salad and perhaps a tomato salad as a result of the lack of variety on offer. Cappuccino is three euro so it is quite price. However, their little bottles of wine are delightful. I would particularly recommend their red rioja.

Nice sports bar with cosy sofas with stylish interior. Big terrace. Quality of service is wildly varying due to often changing service personal. Menu item are reasonably priced with an overall very good quality.
