Two of us had lunch. We liked the high ceiling ( nice and airy) and the space between tables. The seating was very comfortable. We had starters, main course and coffee plus wine by the glass. We had goats cheese mousse and salmon pastrami for starters which were well presented and the taste buds were excited. For main course we had fillet of cod and angus ribeye. These also got high marks. There was a party in one part of the restaurant which added a lively atmosphere. The service was top class. This was our first visit but it will not be our last.

The food and service here are always great. Aside from the 3 course menu you can also have the early bird from tues-fri 5-630 or on sat 5-6, which is 2 courses for 18 or 3 for 21. The sunday roast is always gorgeous with creamed and roasted potatoes, veg and yorkshire pudding. The place is always buzzing for sunday lunch! As for the wine, another reviewer was mistaken as the house merlot and ungi blanc, both from France are and always have been 21euro per bottle. Don't miss this place when you're in d14!

Just 2 of us. Atmosphere flat - very few people there. Great value 3-course menu €25.00 per person all evening. However, bottle of house wine €28.00 which we thought was a bit steep. Also, any extras - potato, chips, veg, etc. an extra €3.50 per portion. So, enjoyable meal but "hidden extras" rather annoying. Charge €30 per person and include potatoes and veg, and bring down the price of your house wine.

I called on Friday evening in a party of four. The restaurant was bury and there was a good atmosphere. Three dined from the Al a carte menu and the fourth had the dinner menu. I had the goat's chees mousse to start and the rib eye steak as a mains. Both were excellent, the steak done perfectly, and for dessert the apple crumble was also top class. My dining partners had fish cakes, venison and chicken and all were really happy with both the food and the presentation. The service was to a high standard. We felt the price at around 30-35 euro each for three courses, without drinks, to be reasonable. Highly recommended.

Sunday lunch at The Arch was an enjoyable experience for all 6 diners - and excellent value for money. Service efficient and friendly. The food is really good - Roast Lamb with Roasted Veg especiallly so (supplement charged) as was the Fish n Chips. Starters & desserts also impressed. Don't let the fact that this restaurant is situated over a pub put you off - it truly is worh visiting, We certainly plan to return again and again.

Had lunch here last Thursday with my sister and son .It was after 2pm so it was very quiet,. We chose to hsve 2 starters each French Onion Soup - new receipe - not quite as delicious as usual. Then both my sister and I had the pate, which was absolutely delicious, My son had the ham hock with black pudding which was mouth watering. A rich chocolate orange mouse amd black forrest trifle followed and I finished with coffee and the lightest buttery shortbread biscuits, The service was excellent. The lunch menu is varied and the food is consistantly very good. Great Value AND TO TOP IT ALL we were not charged for the soup because we werent 100% happy with it. Definitley in my top 3 restaurants for lunch

Whilst the dining room was quiet when we arrived, the food and service were very good. I had the Pork Belly which I enjoyed thoroughly, whilst my guest opted for Fish and Chips. Prices are exceptionally good too. Overall a nice place to eat.

Having negotiated the garish 'Irish' exterior of the pub, the first thing to say is that the staff were very friendly and helpful in a relaxed kind of way; we felt really welcome and looked after, which was lovely. We also felt really comfortably cocooned in the booths - so a really nice atmosphere in that respect. On to the food - on our particular deal we could have either soup and main, or main and dessert. We both ordered the seafood chowder but after eating a bit I realised there was bacon in it, which was not great as I haven't eaten meat for many years now. I can't say for sure if it said in the menu about the bacon so perhaps I should have read it more carefully - I just don't remember seeing it (different menu to the one online here). The soup seemed nice though apart from that. I wasn't able to have the french onion soup either as it had meat stock, but I wouldn't have known this had I not specifically checked. I think this should be clearly stated on the menu. Lots of people will eat fish but not meat. My main was monkfish slices perched on a pomme anna, which was nice, with green beans (nicely squeaky) and a kind of finely chopped ratatouille, which was really delicious. I felt the pesto round the edge of the plate struck a wrong note - it was just the wrong flavour to go with the other flavours on the plate. My friend had the pork belly which she seemed to like. For pudding I had the white chocolate trifle and I really enjoyed it. We had a bottle of the house white, which was not bad at all. Overall, a lovely relaxed but efficient atmosphere is the main memory, with nice food. I would like the menu to say when food is either not vegetarian or has meat stock, bacon or whatever in it. Several of the fish and non-meat dishes had little bacon timebombs tucked away somewhere in the background, or meat stock. All in all though they are lovely and try really hard with the food, it is good value and they deserve to do well.

Had dinner here with Mother & husband Sat night. 2 of us had the fish & chips - delicious - fish served on bed of smoked bacon mushy peas & chips large & chunky. Rib eye steak full of flavour and not a morsel left for the dog. Chocolate brownie & vodka trifle both divine desserts. Staff friendly, place buzzing - left happy and definitely will return.

Our second visit to The Arch and our first time having the Early Bird. We were three and arrived at 6.00pm to a restaurant with just one other occupied table. There was a reasonable (for an early bird) choice of four starters and four mains. For starters two of us had a cream goat's cheese starter with beetroot and pear sauce while the third person had a warm chicken salad. The only negative comment related to the goat's cheese starter which lacked a goat's cheese flavour - otherwise starters were well presented and tasty. Mains selected were fish and chips, chicken supreme and roast cod with capers and olives. Again all nicely presented and enjoyed by all. My only issue was my fish and chips which comprised quite a small portion of fish and chips with a small tub of tartare sauce - I was hoping for a slightly more substantial portion and was still hungry when I finished my main. So I had the apple and blackberry crumble for dessert (as did my fellow diners) which was served piping hot in a ramekin with a little jug of quite good custard on the side - delicious! For the three of us the three course dinner (with no bar drinks) came to €54 in total excluding tip. Reasonable value in this day and age. The restaurant was still almost empty when we left at 7.30 on a Thursday night, so there was a lack of atmosphere. But overall (with the few caveats mentioned above) , satisfied with the food

This is one of my favourite restaurants in the Dundrum area. The quality of the food for the price you are paying is brilliant. Try it, you won't regret it.

Have been here a few times so am just guessing date. Its over the glenside pub. I have been here both in a group and with my husband. Everyone has only one complaint - the atnosphere. Personally I quite like it. It's not terribly trendy, more a local restaurant. But the food is wonderful. Their scallop starter, pork main course, orange dessert all great. We've had a number of other dishes and always excellent. Service good. Price unbelievable!! This is one of the cheapest places I have gone to and the food quality is well above the price range.

Although Im not a fan of Restaurants over pubs. This place was a really nice surprise. The kitchen is totally open so you can see the chefs at work which is good. It was just a table for 2 - an impromtu visit. The Rib eye steak's we had were cooked as we asked and came with lovely chunky chips. The service was good and I will definitely be back. Good place

myself and my boyfriend went here last saturday night as it had come highly recommended and it did not disappoint. We shared a starter of prawn and crab brulee which was delicious. He had the pork belly and I had the fish and chips. We were recommended a lovely bottle of red wine by the waiter, which we both enjoyed. Both of us were very happy with our food and would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant. We were far too stuffed to have dessert. The staff were excellent, which made the entire experience thoroughly enjoyable. We will be back for sure.

Myself and my sister went to The Arch Bistro on Saturday night as we had heard so many excellent reviews. The restaurant was small but not cramped and there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere even though it was busy. We decided not to have a starter and go straight for the mains. After hearing so much about the pork belly, I had to have it and it didn’t disappoint. My sister went for the seared duck breast. Both were melt in the mouth and the portions were extremely generous. We also ordered a side which in hindsight we didn’t need but it too was gorgeous. There wasn’t much room for dessert, so we shared a crème brulee. It was lovely and light and just enough to end the evening. To top it all off, the prices are surprisingly reasonable and the service was friendly and attentive, yet not overbearing. We will definitely be back again.

We had visitors staying and thought this would be the perfect place to eat having been here a few times before. For me the star of the menu had to be the Crab and Prawn Créme Brulee, the scallops were fantastic as well but it's hard to beat the pork belly, or the crispy poussin. Orange Posset for dessert was a fabulous treat. For a Wednesday, there was a brilliant crowd and the atmosphere was bubbling along, helped but the warm and friendly service and delicious food. Great value too! It's definitely the star of the 'burbs!

Ate here on a quiet Thursday night and really enjoyed the experience. The service was friendly but not intrusive. The food was great, I had scallop with duck confit to start which was just melt in the mouth. The pork belly for main was nice, I would have like a little more sauce as it was a large portion of meat. The orange posset to finish was excellent. The most surprising thing was the price, excellent value for money and a really good choice on the menu. The only thing that lets the restaurant down is the decor and layout, it's too open and the tables are close together so not ideal for a romantic night out, or when the restaurant isn't full it feels a bit souless. Perhaps on a busier night you would experience a better atmosphere. I will definitely be back for the food though.

I came here for the Sunday lunch. The staff were really friendly and we were seated immediately. The restaurant was busy and there was a nice atmosphere. The menu offered a great range of dishes at really good prices. The food was lovely, really good flavours and presented well. I would definitely return here as the staff, service and food was great.

Choose this restaurant for my mothers birthday and was not disappointed. We were seated as soon as we arrived and I have to say I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful, especially the gentleman who recommended the Spanish wine- delicious. The menu is quite varied and the food of a very high standard. The goats cheese starter was simply fantastic and the hake was melt in the mouth. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and will definitely return.

This was my second time to visit the Arch Bistro. I had the foie gras to start. It was ok. A bit oo heavy for me so my partner at most of it. My partner had the crab cakes which were very good. For my main I had the rib eye steak with my favourite chunky chips. Steak was decent and cooked well. I didn't opt for dessert but ended up eating half of my partner's chocolate brownie because it was soooo delicious. It was warm and gooey served with ice cream mmmm. On my first visit I had the fish and chips for lunch. The chunky chips were lovely and the fish batter was tempura - really light and cripsy without being greasy. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding which was also good. Service was average. Nothing special. Atmosphere was ok too. The food is above average so I found the prices quite reasonable. Highly recommend the place

Visited The Arch twice since it has opened overall found the food really nice , but as mentioned on here before the staff have an attitude problem. The staff on both occasions were different but they were unattentive and unfriendly on both occasions .W e arrived in at 6.30 and were put at a table for 2 I politely asked if we could have a booth, told no they were for parties of four, they were either mostly empty for the duration of our meal and only occupied by party of 2 people, seemed like they just could not be bothered. On saying that the food well made up for what the staff were lacking. Pity though its nice to get a warm friendly reception when you go out to spend your hard earned cash.

First impressions - dirty stairs not a great first impression!!! Food very nice but waiter/manager could do with a course in customer etiquette as stated in other reviews. As we were being shown to our table we met friends who asked that we join them - we agreed but got a 'look' from the waiter. We had another query about the meal and this waiter/manager was rude and unfriendly. My friend visits this restaurant for it's close proximity to her home and she says sometimes the service is better than others. For me I'd prefer to forfeit the alcohol and eat where I feel I am getting a better service for my money.

We went here for a Sunday lunch for our 1 year wedding anniversary since we saw all the great reviews on the website. When we arrived, it wasn't packed but it was very busy. I felt the decor was nice but probably would've had a better feel later in the evening. The food was absolutely delicious, we started with the white onion soup and then my other half had the duck leg and I had the slow roasted pork belly for mains. When he had a taste of mine he actually pouted the rest of the meal wishing he got it because it was so delicious lol. I can't believe how affordable it was as well! We would have gone with a 3 course but we were absolutely stuffed after the mains! The service, the food and the value are all worth coming here, even if it's only once, which won't be your last. Only downfall is it's so far out from the city but it is seriously worth the drive!

Four of us went for Sunday lunch. Advise booking as quite busy. Comfortable seats and large table which was appreciated as sometimes restaurants can be quite cramped. Friendly attentive waiters even though, as mentioned, restaurant was busy. Pork, slow-roasted for 12 hours, was melt-in-your-mouth. Excellent value with 2 courses for 15 euro (Sunday lunch). No room for dessert.

I too visited the Arch for mother's day. This gastropub was packed for the occasion and so service was under pressure. The food however lived up to expectations. The liver and onion soup starters were fantastic. Two mains impressed (the surf and turf and the lamb) but the risotto was a letdown in an otherwise great meal. They had sold out of our two choices of desserts; while this shows bad management its hard to judge on such an occasion. I'll certainly be back to try them on a quieter day.

After the positive reviews this place has been receiving, I booked a table for two last Friday. I have to say I was disappointed. The atmosphere is pleasant and buzzing, but we were seated close to the front door, with a cold draft coming in every few minutes. This is something I would have ignored though if I enjoyed the food. I ordered Ham hock to start which was good - salty and meaty. My friend had the prawn bisque - which could have been hotter as he had to rush to finish it or else it would have been cold. My main course was so disappointing. I ordered the confit of duck with seared duck breast, turnip puree & red wine jus. The duck breast skin wasn't crisp, the meat was chewy and soggy. The whole dish was swimming in turnip puree - I couldn't taste anything else except this sickly sweet flavour. The leg was good, falling off the bone as expected. The red wine jus was non-existent - it had disappeared into the turnip puree. My friend got the special - 'Surf and Turf'. The crust of the fillet was soft, underseasoned and undercoloured. It had not been seared on the outside. It was topped with what could only be described as shop bought carmalised onions - horrifically sweet and overpowering. For dessert I had the brownie. I asked for some chocolate sauce and to my dismay the entire plate was swimming in sauce - the icecream melted into it and the brownie was crisp and tasteless. My friend has the apple crumble which he said was beautiful. Service was patchy - a good natured waiter but I was horrified when he shouted from the service desk to our table, asking me to reconfirm the order. Also we were waiting for our mains for over 30 mins, I think he forgot to call our starters away. Finally, we were given the wrong dessert menu - we had paid 'a la carte' but were given early bird dessert options. We will not be returning.

Delighted to say that I've eaten at this sparkling treasure three times since its opened and have yet to be disappointed! Pleasant, welcoming, professional staff. Warm and with a good selection of unobtrusive music in the background. And the food! Luckily we are 'let's all taste' people and so I can say with authority that the starters and main courses are tremendously well thought out and presented. From the beef to the pork, risotto and bass. Certainly good value for money. And if you're one of those people who enjoys cooking and is disappointed when eating out and feels "I could have done better than that at home" well........ I defy you to try! Truly a gem - nice to have found somewhere at the moment that makes you feel a little bit special!

Ate here on a busy Friday Evening. High expections after Lucinda O'Sullivan review. These were met and exceeded. Bistro was very busy with all tables full - we sat in a booth which provided intimacy in a full restaurant. Booth is ideal for 6 - the table is a little too large for 4 people. Food was incredible!! Scallops (3 on the plate) were melt in the mouth and served with crunchy fish cake and rocket salad. Lots of textures and flavoures on the plate - Divine. Surf and Turf was a succulent Beef Fillet (also melt in the mouth) with a large juicy prawn, accompaninied with homemade chips. The chips arrived in a bowl and were just enough to fill but not leave you too full. 3 Fillets ordered to suit different tastes (Well Done, Medium, Rare) - each fillet was cooked to perfection. The panfried hake was served with a mediterranean combinatoin of beans and lentils. The chocolate brownie was smaller than we have become accustomed to but served with icecream it was the perfect finish to a great meal. Wine selection is good and reasonable value. The coffee was aromatic!! The service was a little hit and miss - the staff were exceptoinally friendly and helpful, however, speed of service was a little slow with dessert/coffee arriving at different times. The prices have been set at a reasonable rate ensuring we will definitely be back. We had the Winter Menu - the spring menu is being introduced this week. Definitely one to visit. Our return visit is booked already!!

A group of 8 of us went for lunch here on a Friday, and on arrival I had no idea how cosy the place was going to be. The restaurant was packed at 1pm and we all soon found out why! We had pre ordered our food before arriving so there was very little wait time, I had the mushrooms to start which were fantastic and a chicken pasta dish with a spicy tomato sauce, again fantastic. The prices are hard to believe for the quality of food with starters around €4 and main courses €8 for lunch. Everyone of the group thoroughly enjoyed their meal and all vowed to return again! I'm hoping to get back and sample the early bird ASAP! Keep up the great work guys! Cannot recommend highly enough

Eaten here only at midday. Food was good, French style. Portions were healthy. Value for money during lunch was amazing. Will be trying here in the evening to see how it holds up

I had dinner here last Friday and really enjoyed it. The food was excellent and was very reasonably priced and the service was also excellent although we may have gotten lucky with our waiter. The wine list isn't big but has some nice wines on it. Will definitely go back.

Been to this restaurant twice in the last few months and......all I can say ARE good things!!! From the warm greeting to the exceptional service never mind the quality of the food (which is to die for), I have not a bad word to say about this little hidden gem! We had mushroom on toast and Duck Terrine and Ham Hocks to Start. For Main Steak, Lamb, Pork and Duck on both visits all were presented and tasted exceptionally good. I have only tried the choco Brownie and it was delicious. Would reccomend this place to everybody, they have private booths, tables for lagre parties and friendly staff...cute lads!!!!

Dined here twice in the recent past. Food is exceptional I have to say. First vist - really enjoyed the mushroom starter and the duck. My companion had the ham hock and fish and chips which she said was delightful. Batter on fish was lovely and light. The deserts were yummy. The staff on this occasion were very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately the second visit for lunch left a bit of a sour taste. There was no fault with the food which once again was excellent. Our waitress was most pleasant and helpful. However another member of staff was quite rude to us when we requested some mayonnaise to accompany our food and this put a shadow on the meal. Apart from this I think the Arch is an excellent restaurant which provides very good value for money and I do hope it does well

Enjoyed some lovely food here with my family. Had the mushrooms on toast followed by the pork belly, both were delicious! Others had the french onion soup, Seabass, Hereford steaks and quail's eggs, not a bad word said about any of them! a few bottles of wine later we all left with a smile on our faces and no room left in our bellies, just what we had hope for, highly recommended!

Dined here wit family on Friday last and was very impressed. Food well made ,well presented and hit the spot, room was a bit too hot but maybe with the cold weather lately our dress was a bit too wintery. However quite friendly service by a young lady but she did forget our water request and 1 of the parties drink, upon reminding her she promptly delivered them both in seconds. Definately will be returning , the slow roastpork belly is to die for

This is a great new restaurant in Churchtown and deserves to do really well. I have eaten here several times now for Sunday lunch and it cannot be beaten. The food is amazing and unbelieavably great value at €19 for 3 courses of such quality. The service is also excellent and I like that it is quite a casual and laidback atmosphere. Mushrooms on toast are fab, pork is really tasty, fish and chips are the best I have ever had. Top notch.

Six of us went this restaurant on a Wednesday night. It was just under half full so doing well for mid week. The menu was quite extensive although there were only two starters I fancied (mushrooms on toast or the pear salad. I opted for the mushrooms on toast wheich were really tasty, followed by the rib eye steak which came out luke warm and over done (well instead of meduim), but it was so tasty I didn't bother complaining. The bernaise sauce was yum, the dish came with green neans which were lovely but not mentioned on the menu so I had ordered a side order of carrot and parsnip mash which I didn't need then! Chocolate brownie for desert was v good, but not the best I've had. Everyone else enjoyed what they had bar one person - they ordered the lamb which tasted a little strange as in old so they sent it back and had the fish and chips instead. Wine menu v good, just had house red, reasonable price and lovely. Total bill E280 for six people not bad!! Will be back. Found the service a little casual for the standard of food though, and a little slow.

We have eaten here three times for special occasions with groups up to 19 people, 2 dinners & 1 lunch. The atmosphere each time was warm and friendly, the service correct and the food superb. It is quite difficult to pick our favourite dishes but the bisque & foie gras are delicious starters, the confit of duck leg & pork belly are terrific. To top of the whole experience is the value for money! Amazing food for a great price. Well done!

Having read the rave reviews, a group of us decided to try it out last Saturday. We have ad experiences of previous restaurants in the Glenside which have now gone by the board but we hope and based on our meal this restaurant will be here for a long time. The food was excellent and very well presented. I had fish and chips, my yardstick if it appears on a menu , and it was excellent. The only complaint I have is that our waiter did not recommend side dises with the meal. Good value for money and they have a great wine list as well - will be back again

Was delighted to finally try this restaurant last Thu night having heard it was opening some weeks ago. I have always loved the location of this restaurant given that it is over a pub & am partial to a pint before my dinner. Unfortunately, on this occasion I was driving so will leave that for the next visit. Indeed there definitely will be a next visit! The place was buzzing & with a lovely Christmas menu at only 23.50 for 3 courses, this is the sort of local treasure that yer man Doorley is always pleading for. I had the mushrooms on sourdough toast which was just divine. The Parmesan shavings just finished it off perfectly. For main course I had the Slow Roast Pork Belly stuffed with apricot & rosemary & this was just the right amount to give a little sweetness but not over-powering in the way apricot can be with pork. The onion rings on top seemed out of place but were in fact a lovely addition to the melt-in-the mouth pork. For dessert (which of course I wouldn’t usually indulge in but being a set menu it would be rude not to!) I had the Lemon Zabayon Tart and was delighted it was a small portion as both Starter & Main were quite large. I was just saying how the tart was quite tart, as you’d expect a lemon tart to be, but felt it could do with a sweet foil, when someone reminded me that it came with a honey mascarpone cream, I had thought it was just cream on the plate & it was the exact sweetness required…how perfect!! A little more would have been nice as it worked so well. There were 10 of us out that night & everyone loved the food. Quite a few had the Confit Duck Leg with red cabbage & it looked & smelt divine. I can’t really comment on the wine list as I wasn’t drinking but we ordered a Boland Chenin blanc which was a nice change from Sauvignon Blanc & very easy drinking for a crowd of girls. The total bill per head including wines & teas & coffee was €35…now where would you be going?! I hope this is going to be a local treasure as it certainly could be my local treasure, especially at that value. Will be ba

Have been here twice since the Arch opened a few weeks ago. The food is fantastic and such good value. Had the mushrooms on toast both times for starter which is amazing, and the steak and chicken for mains - both very good. Had the brownie and poached apples for dessert - again both very good. Hopefully it will be well supported by locals (and those further afield) as the food, staff and value are all fantastic.

I visited the Arch Bistro with 3 friends after hearing a rave review from a friend in work and I have to say that she was 100% right. On arrival we were met by a charming maitre d who seated us at our own booth like table. There are other normal tables there also but it suited us at the booth. the general decor is kind of boutique cool and really exudes luxury which I was not expecting. I ordered the seared scallops for starters which was quite simply delicious. For mains I had the slow cooked pork belly and initially I thought I would never get through the amount of food on my plate but boy did I! The pork was melt in the mouth tender and the mustard mash had a fantastic kick. I even made room for the chocolate brownie which was recommended by our lovely waitress and it was to die for. Will defo be back!!

Visited here on Friday night having booked a table for 6.45, the greeting was warm & friendly from the maitre d who allowed us to select our seats, there was a couple of other tables occupied but it wasn't busy. For starters among the table we sampled the scallops, the hamhock and the soup, all were well presented and cooked perfectly. For mains we had a beef pie which was replacing teh game pie on the night, the fish and chips, the rib eye and the chicken, again all dishes were well executed and represented great value. We had to rush off before trying dessert but will definetely be returning as we enjoyed our meal immensely and it was so nice to have warm friendly staff really looking after their customers and great food so well priced.

Had dinner there on Saturday night after hearing about it from a friend. Was surprised it was so busy as it just opened that week. Food was amazing, had a mushroom starter and a ribeye steak which was not even €20. great selection of wines and great service. Our bill for dinner was just over €60 which was pretty cool as we had a bottle of wine also. Mind you just as well as they did not have credit card facititys and i was not told this when i booked. They assured me that it was on its way....anyway it did not take away from the evening too much....will deffo be back...Big Fan

I ate here with a friend last Friday night. The food was superb and seriously good value, the service very efficient and very friendly and there was a nice buzz for a restaurant that had only been open a few days. I'll definitely be returning, although I think before long it won't be easy to get a weekend booking! Well worth a visit.
