We visited Maia on a lazy Sunday afternoon, and we quite liked the place. It is very relaxed, and the staff is really friendly. We had Piccante sandwich and a Burger, and both were very generous portions and really tasty. Each of us had also a freshly made juice from the juice bar, and these were nice and refreshing. Maia is a nice place to visit for breakfast, lunch or brunch. We will definitely be back.

I had a group lunch here recently of 12 people. The restaurant now only opens at breakfast and lunchtimes, only evenings it opens is if there is a match or event on in the Aviva. The service is excellent, the menu has been pared down significantly since my last visit but it covers off most italian dishes. The portions are huge, the bowls of chips were the biggest I have seen. The starters of chicken wings were also enormous. They don't have a wine list any more, just two bottles of white to choose from and two bottles of red. A bit disappointing if you like your wines. It was busy on the day we were there and it was all served very quickly and efficiently. Will definitely return.

used a menu pages voucher for our visit, have driven passed this place many times but never gone in. The atmosphere was great the waiter was talking to some female customers and he was very entertaining. Food was lovely both of us had a pasta dish and it was wonderful, portions are large. Will not drive by again but will go back for food and atmosphere keep up the good work.

Tried out Maia using a menupages voucher I had purchased. The first time we turned up it was closed due to renovations. This was my own fault however as I had not called before hand to confirm a booking. The next Saturday we arrived and were seated quickly without reservation. Staff were really friendly and accomodating when I substitued a topping on the pizza to make it vegetarian. My boyfriend had the chicken wings and fries. The waiter forgot my glass of wine and had to be reminded some time later however this was a small oversight. I would definitely return for some chilled out lunch time dining.

Tried out MAIA Saturday before gig in the Aviva, really happy with everything, We got seats quickly, staff were attentive but not over bearing, food was great. We went for home made burgers with salad. The chips were also really good ( home made ) We stayed and had a few glasses of wine, beer was also available. A really good experience and we would return, well done to all !!

I went to Maia for lunch yesterday and as always, I wasn't disappointed! I had the seafood pasta, which was great followed by the Tiramisu which was fantastic as usual. Definitely worth a try! Other dishes worth trying are the chicken wings and risotto. The staff, the athmosphere and the music really make for pleasant dining environment. My wife and I are regulars and we love it. We'll be back for brunch at the weekend.

The breakfast here was really good though I do agree with the poster who didn’t appreciate the manager yelling all over the shop. But I would definitely would return for a lazy Sunday morning breakfast. So many breakfast reliables to tempt you such as French toast with choice of bacon or berries, pancakes, Full Irish, Half Irish......... And it’s a nice touch that you can choose whether you wanted your eggs poached, boiled, fried etc. Likewise, that you have the option of having the Full Irish or taking it a bit easier with the Half Irish. The sausages were really good- I’m guessing Italian. You could definitely taste that they take the provenance of their ingredients seriously right down to the bread chosen for toast. They also had freshly squeezed orange juice. While the coffee was good, my only disappointment was that they didn’t have filter coffee even though it was on the menu.

Went there today for lunch, my third visit at this stage and I certainly cannot fault the place. We ordered a full Irish and a cajan sandwich and the food was excellent, a step above a regular cafe fry up. The staff were friendly and very engaging. Also worth pointing out that the music (jazz mainly) really is outstanding. Will be returning not least to try the bloody marys which looked very impressive.

Words cannot describe the experience I had here. Having visited before and vaguely remembering a satisfactory sandwich, we tried once more as it is handy for location etc. I had heard it no longer did evening meals and now I can see why. No restaurant in Ballsbridge should suffer from lack of business on any evening unless it is seriously lacking in something be it quality or discreet attentiveness by staff..which this spot is. Ordered a Cuban Sandwich which was the blandest and least flavoured sandwich of all time. Why Owners/Managers don't try their own dishes from time to time is beyond me as they would be mortified to know they were selling this to people. Definately not what it said on the tin. Overfried, oversalted and cold "chips" on the side of the plate also. Had to ask for simple tap water more than once and friend was served coffee with it sloshed down the side of the cup. Both hot drinks were served and we had to ask for milk after the event. The Manager was walking around from table to table and shouting from afar without making eye contact to wonder if we were enjoying it as well as being extremelly off putting with his pompous manner. Also, I do not go out for lunch on a Sunday to be asked by a Cafe/Restaurant Manager several times if we have any codeine as a joke because he is hung over. I have never experienced anything so bad and I will never go back.

Best brunch in D4! Very reasonably priced menu considering the good quality of the ingredients used. Great sausages and bacon in the full Irish, and lovely thick brioche in the French toast, though my personal favourite is the eggs NY style - a tomato-based dish with the option to have spicy (yum yum). Cosy, casual and intimate. Good coffee. Great tunes playing in the background. A great little local for lazy Sunday mornings.

Went to Maia last Sunday for Brunch. Had been dying to try their Brunch as the menu looks really good. Very disappointed. We ordered French toast with honey & berries and Eggs Benedict. The bread used in both dishes was actually white sliced pan. Not what you would usually expect in either dish. The French toast was really poor, it was literally white bread dipped in egg and fried. No honey, no sweetness, nothing. The eggs benedict were also served on top of white sliced bread - really bad I thought. I tried to order a brunch cocktail, asked the waitress for a bellini, mimosa... she had no idea what either were. Will definitely not return for Brunch again.

Truly appalling service. Seated there today on our lunch break, wiated 45 mins only to be told by the imbecile serving us that he'd forgotten to put our order through. No lunch for any of us and only a cursory apology. Word has gone round the office and none of us here will be eating there again. Far better places to eat out in Ballsbridge

Went to Maia for the first time after a Leinster match at the RDS. It was 3.30pm and there were only a few other tables occupied. The decor is modern with plesant backround music. We all had the Organic Burger which came with fries (skin still on) at €13.50. Both were tasty and had no complaints from any of us. Service was friendly and prompt. Soft drinks and coffee were very reasonably priced with €6.50 for a glass of red a little steep. Overall we had a nice late lunch. I'll be frequenting Maia more for lunch now that I have discovered it as it has proven a better experience than other resturaunts in the area.

Had lunch here with a few friends here today. This was first time, and won't be the last. Great €10 lunch menu with a selection of panini's, pastas, salads etc. I had the pastrami panini which was very good, their house fries are great. Need to supply mustard as a condement, but otherwise this is an excellent lunch option.

I ate in Maia with a friend, before we headed off to a concert in the RDS. Have to say, I was very impressed. We were originally going to go with the early bird, but decided on the burgers instead. We were certainly not disappointed, they were delicious and enormous.. We enjoyed the burgers with a couple of beers. Even though the restaurant was extremely busy, the service was excellent. Great value for money, I will definitely be returning soon.

Came for brunch .... well for the chicken wings really but they were all out! Had the full Irish which comes with top quality ingredients down to the Roly's tomato bread. We also have the Nova Eggs Maia which were just gorgeous! Service is great but it can be a little on the dear side.

Myself and my partner had the 2 course early bird offer. The chicken wings were divine. In fact it'd be great to see these as a main (if not there already). There was just enough in the bowl and just the right amount of blue cheese. Next I had the lamb meatballs. Moutwatering is the only word I can use to describe this dish. I had to forch myself to finish the bowl even though I was full only half way through. My own complaint is that I would like to have sat closer to a window - which wasn't possible. I'd also like to see the option of a glass of wine with the 2/3 courses for a small increase in the price. This was what we were ideally looking for in the area, but the food on the menu clinched the deal.

We ate here for lunch for a friends birthday and the food was yummy. I had the rigatoni and goats cheese which is divine but very filling! Always a good choice when in Ballsbridge. The deli counter is also great value with many of the main courses being offered in small lunch boxes for under five euro!!

If i had the time free i would probably opt to spend every sunday here in Maia. The ambient atmosphere is superb and there is always a warm welcome from the staff. They provide exceptional service and always ensure that the customer is satisfied, and content. On sunday i opted for the classic burger. As burgers go this is probably my favourite, my girlfriend also opted for the burger whilst one of the more disapplined of the party opted for the eggs benedict. The visit is never complete without a side bowl of there legendary chicken wings. I also treated myself to the warm chocolate cake which is devine, and a great partner to the pistachio icecream. This perfect sunday is topped off my coffee. I comment the staff and the excellent food and service that they deliver time after time

Two of us went for an early dinner. I had a goats cheese tart to start with haddock and apple crumble to finish. She had the prawns, burger and ice cream to finish. Her prawns were fantastic as was my goats cheese the only minor point was that I would have preferred my cheese to be slightly more cooked then it was. The haddock was fantastic and the Guinness sauce on the chips was amazing. Her burger was, what is standard in Dublin these days, big and meaty. Not too much messing with a classic isn't often the worst. The ice cream was really nice but that's more then I would say about the crumble. It had a pastry base, oats on the top and the fruit was uncooked. It was definitely interesting but, for someone who likes his food, I struggled to eat it. It was a good concept but just didn't work out in the end. Overall it was a really relaxed atmosphere and the wine was brilliant, the only other complaint would be the chairs were a little uncomfortable but a good, positive, dining experience if the crumble is taken out.

Had to do a bit of hanging around ballsbridge today and stumbled across this place, only one word ...FAB!!! Coffee and a very fancy pastry in the sun for only €3.25 as i watched the world wizz by at 9am! Then later on in for lunch with a client who was very impressed that I'd brought him somewhere nice for a change. Food was very good, I had the Ragatonie Pasta which was the best pasta dish i've ever had and the "suit" had a chicken panini which he loved to bits. Service was 5 star really nice to see everyone working together clearly enjoying what they do, makes a nice change. Music and atmosphere was really good. I'll be going back to Maia, next time the suite said he'd pay but I suspect that's because it was very resonable.

I hadn't been to Maia in ages so I went back on Tuesday with my Dad and partner. I was hoping to catch the earlybird but arrived at 7:15pm to find it finishes at 7pm which I thought was early for a Tuesday and especially in the area. There was only two other parties in there also which might be a reflection on they're prices. We ordered two entrees to share - soup and chicken wings. Both were amazing and decent sizes. For main we ordered 2 chicken pastas and 1 seabass. The chicken pasta was delicous! really really tasty. The seabass was nice but nothing to rave about. We also ordered a bottle of wine and a beer. Total cost with tip €95. Thought that was a bit steep in the currenly climate. Especually considering they're earlybird is €20 for two courses and a glass of wine. We paid almost double that and shared two entrees. Worth a visit for the food but I may hold off going back until the prices come down.

Went here for a friend's birthday and couldn't believe it was so quiet on a Friday for such a lovely restaurant. Excellent service, friendly and knowledgeable. Nice modern decor and good location for anyone local to Ballsbridge. Fantastic food - enormous portions for such reasonable prices! Chicken wings for starters went down a bomb. The steak and paella were particularly delicious. The paella for one would actually do two people. Kudos to the chef and owners who made us feel so welcome. If you're out that direction definitely worth a visit

Popped in here with my other half for brunch. I had the Greek style eggs and my partner had the Maia eggs, both very nice. We shared a beetroot and goats cheese salad, even better than the egg dishes. Service was efficient.Would recommend for brunch.

There is something about owner managed establishments...........they are simply better! Maia is more than a good neighbourhood eaterie, it should be enjoyed by more than the locals. A cosy room, with subtle lighting, quality fare........at fair prices, every monitored by the watchful eye of the owner who is always keen to welcome feedback from his clientele. Maia's early bird is one of the best deals in town and if you are not in time for the cheap eats, I highly recommend the paella and the veg tagine. Hopefully Maia will stay around and will be enjoyed for a long time. Well done.

Wa dissappointed yet again with Maia. Visited for lunch before the rugby. We all ordered the burger - no burgers left. The food we got instead (pizza, chicken sandwich, eggs) was stodgy and oily. There was only one poor chap serving (and doing a great job) with no help from another waitress who kept forgetting our drinks orders. The place was surprisingly empty on a pre match saturday when everywhere else was full. Hardly surprising.

We had heard such great things about this restaurant that we decided we had to check it out for ourselves and I am delighted to report that it did not disappoint, not in the slightest.. Myself, my boyfriend and another couple headed here on Saturday night.. The atmosphere was perfect and the food - oh the food - the scallops were the nicest I've tasted and cooked to perfection and an antipasto plate for the table was delicious with a lovely variety. My mains, the penne with smoked salmon and cream sauce, fabulous - the boys went for the steaks which were cooked just as they had requested and the Risotto was delightful... All pretty much full to the brim we couldn't resist the temptation of the hot chocolate fondant and I'm so glad we didn't - I've dreamt of it ever since... All washed down with a couple of bottles of wine and coffees we all left with full bellies and a smile on our faces and we will definitely be back..

We visited Maia with a couple of friends to celebrate a birthday. WOW!!! the food is outstanding and the service was second to none. Fabulous atmosphere, small and cosy but bursting with fun!! I am still salivating over the Maia wings & the scallops were cooked to perfection. From the steak to the fish our mains were to die for and don't get me started on the hot chocolate fondant! All washed down with Mojitos and Margaritas a plenty, which could rival any where.. We have already booked in for our next birthday!!

Lazy Sunday afternoon and my friends got me out of the house for a catch up session over brunch. One of them knows this place quite well so we decided to give it a go. We sat on a high table next to the window and had a very warm welcome from the staff. I ordered Nova eggs Maia and a lemonade. You know how when your friends food arrives, you find it tastier then your own? Well I sure was happy with my choice but wished for some salad. My friends ordered Greek style eggs parmesan and Roast beetroot and goats cheese salad so we ended up swapping plates every 20 minutes! Had one of better brunches that day and staff was in a very happy mood much to our delight! All in all really enjoyed and will definitely be back!

I ordered the John Dory, and was served a different type of fish altogether. At 17 euros for a substitute fish this was far to expensive. Other people's meals looked really nice, especially the salad. But I felt very disappointed with the fish choice.

Ate there a week and a half ago. Normally i would avoid risotto at all costs, after several experiences of chalky rice or rice pudding. I still avoided but my partner ordered it and I have to say I must have eaten half of it. Gorgeous strong porcini taste, and as for portion size - well he would have never managed it on his own anyway. I had grilled sardines which were not that exciting But overall we thought it was great, great service, tasty food and really resaonable.

It was my first time in Maia and while it's a nice restaurant with a good menu, I was a bit disappointed with my food. I ordered the chicken and it was slightly burnt. The veg that came with it were pretty mediocre. My boyfriend ordered a pizza, which was nice but I've had nicer. That said, I'll give it another chance because I may have just ordered the wrong thing that night. No complaints at all about the service or atmosphere.

Myself and my husband went to Maia on Saturday night. We had been there about 5 weeks ago and had a lovely meal so we decided to go back. When we arrived there were only two other tables occupied which was maybe due to the fine weather. Unfortunately this visit did not live up to the last one. We got the chicken wings between us for starters. My husband had them the last time we were there and I tasted them and they were fab but this time they looked burnt and tasted as if they had been thrown back into the deep fat fryer. For main course my husband had the burger, which he didn't really enjoy. I opted for the grilled chicken however what arrived out was burnt chicken breast, the pastry on the confit leg pie was also burnt and fried potatoes. The waitress came over and asked was everything ok and I had to tell her that my meal was just awful, she apologised and took it away and asked would I like something else. At this stage my husband was halfway through his ok burger so I asked for a pizza. When this arrived it was nice but I ended up just eating 2 slices of it as I was no longer in the mood for eating. One highlight was the bottle of Rose we had with the "meal" that was lovely. Unfortunately as we left we felt we had spent €60 on a nice bottle of wine and nothing else. Don't think we will be visiting again.

Ate here last Saturday with my girlfiend, the waiting staff were all very friendly and helpful. I had the Tiger prawn, clam and mussel Risotto which was delicious and my girlfriend had the goats cheese salad. We got a bottle of Portugeese wine, which I wished I had of got the name of as I would love to have it again. Lovely decor, great location and atmosphere... Cannot fault the place!

Good place. Nice people. Good wine and excellent steak. The owner of this place is a charming fellow and was very tolerant of my well oiled pal who had been in there all afternoon by the time I arrived. i had a steak n chips with a sensational tarragon Bearnaise. Perfectly cooked, good cut and copious sauce n chips made for a very good meal. Waitress was equally tolerant of my lecherous pal and a quick flash of a glare put him back in his box.. which he was in danger of falling out of.. Wines were good. some good Italian and French but perhaps lacked a bit of top end gear. Atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. good choons on the lo fi. I will go back there. Perhaps with someone else ;-) Only kidding..you know who you are! we like Maia. Top marks.

Stumbled across this restaurant for Brunch on a sunday recently and was pleasantly surprised that it wasnt overpriced and the food was very tasty. Service was good but it had been a quiet afternoon, however saying that you could relax and read the paper without having to leave straight after eating. Will definitely be back

I've eaten here a number of times after work with colleagues. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and staff are always very efficient and friendly. Lots of nice choices on the menu and the wine list is very good and well priced. Would definitely recommend is as somewhere for a glass of wine and bite to eat, or for a full dinner.

Six of us enjoyed a delicious brunch here. The full Irish was pronounced one of the best ever and the berry pancakes were extremely tasty and a huge portion. Excellent coffee also. Staff very friendly.

Go there all the time with my work mates and dont think there is anywhere better in the area. The food is delicious, the service is good, and it is reasonably priced. Recommend the chicken penne it is to die for and the desserts are really good as well.

Went here for late lunch on Saturday, but was a bit disappointed in only being able to get brunch, although the food was nice & service was good. However, this restuarant was chosen as it was coelic friendly and there was only one item that was appropriate, (chicken wings) unless you liked eggs. I would go back and try again probably not for lunch though.

Yesterday I met a friend for lunch in Maia. It was lashing rain outside so I was delighted to find ample parking very close by. The restaurant was heaving with business clientele and there was a nice lively vibe in the place. We were provided with nice, large diet cokes and a menu promptly. The food arrived within ten minutes of ordering and it was cooked to perfection. I could have fed a family of six with what came with the burger - it was a very generous portion - which I'm sure is greatly appreciated by male guests. The fries really are quite something special and nearly makes Maia worth visiting for alone. Service was fine and two mains and two soft drinks were priced at a reasonable €35 - not bad at all.

I had brunch here recently and the food was very good. I had pancakes with berry compote and it was very nice to actually get crepes and fresh home made berry compote as opposed to the stodgy think pancakes usually served up. The only negative was that the service was very slow, but I guess you're not exactly in a rush at brunch anyway. Will return

Had Sunday brunch here today and was very impressed. The service was excellent fast friendly and professional. I had scrambled eggs bacon and mushrooms ..never before had i tasted mushrooms which literally melted in my mouth..i think this was due to how finely they were sliced. I also tried some of my friends panckes and they were delicious very light but still perfect. I was very impressed also by the toilets they were spotless and had lovely supply of toiletries on hand including cucumber facial wipes lest you spoil your smile with some eggs benedict!!

Ate here on Saturday night. When we first arrived we were the only people in the restaurant and felt very awkward, however, by the time our starters arrived restaurant had begun to fill up and were almost full once our mains arrived. Good selection of wines by the glass, however the Rioja far outshone the Cotes de Rhône. Had the goat’s cheese to start, which was fine but not awe inspiring. BF had the Tomato and Mozzarella salad, with lovely creamy Mozzarella. For mains I had the chicken and he had the Salmon. Again both were nice, little to fault but seemed to be missing something that would’ve pushed them into great. The chicken could definitely do with a sauce. For dessert we had a chocolate fondant which was more than great, it was to die for! Delicious! Perfectly made. Service was very good throughout. This is a good overall restaurant, would recommend and will return!

After earlier reviews, I decided to give Maia another try on Friday night. Went there with the GB and had a very pleasant evening. Specifiying a desire to have very spicy penne did the trick and I had no complaints. The Ceasar as a starter was delicious and the desserts were very tasty too. We ate relatively early, so the place wasn't heaving with people. It made a remarkable difference to our enjoyment. So good was our experience, we came back for Sunday Breakfast. Also very relaxed and very generous.

How wonderful to return to Ballsbridge and find the trendy Maia in the old Bridge Café’s location with the same charismatic owner at the helm. A wonderful setting with great music, nice lighting and staff who were clearly having as much fun as we were. A refreshing change from the stale and sometimes pompous service offered by other nearby eateries. The food was not only great but also great value – fantastic aged sirloin steak with béarnaise sauce and perfectly cooked chips, an amazing mizuno green salad followed by the most delectable fondant au chocolat. All in all a truly great night. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking good quality food at truly surprising prices for this gastronomic little triangle. Really looking forward to going back.

Disappointed! We haven't been to Maia in months so we tried it again at the weekend. Shared an anti pasto misto to start - and it was basically a plate of salami with some olives - served with bread. Way too much meat for even two to share. Our main courses were better, but nothing to write home about -fish and chicken. It was pretty empty, but the atmosphere was nice and the service was good. Won't be rushing back.

Had bruch here last Sunday; the service was quick efficient and friendly. Lovely modern restaurant, my only small gripe was my Eggs Florentine were slightly cold and the air conditioning unit was on too high, a bit chilly. Lovely lattes though and good value for money.

Heard so many good things about this place, had to go and see for myself! Decor is relaxing and tasteful and food and service is excellent. Make sure to try out the delicious chicken wings and for desert the hot chocolate fondant is a must...there is also a great selection of wines. A good idea to make a reservation before going as it can get quite busy. Will definitely be returning back very soon.

I regularly visit this restaurant for lunch and would say it is one of the best in Ballsbridge. I agree with previous reviews, some days service can be a bit slow, but is more the kitchen's fault than the waiting staff who are very friendly and really make an effort. Food is very good and there is a good choice on the menu. Love the battered haddock and also the chicken caesar salad. Pasta also v good. It is priced ok, about €20 for a main course and coffee with sparkling water which is cheaper than most of the hotels in the Ballsbridge area and the service is much better. Have to book if going on a Friday lunchtime as it is very busy. Would recommend and will definitely go again.

Had lunch there with a work colleague recently. Would recommend the chowder but I had fish & chips. Fish was soggy (not sure what type of batter was on) and far too many fries. I also think its very overpriced. However there was a nice atmosphere and I will return in the evening as I imagine it would be very chilled place to go for a glass of wine & wings.

Went here on at night, and have to say, was pleasantly surprised given the mixed reviews on this site. I'm not a fan of chicken wings, but given that the fella had his heart set on them, and there were no other obvious starter choices (what's that about?), we decided to share. And I gotta say, I am now sold on wings, they were really, really good. Crispy, not greasy, with the right amount of spice and delicious blue cheese dip. Burger and chips were good, salmon was fine, but the chive mash was way, way too buttery and stodgy. Home made ice-creams were tasty. The service was good but not intrusive, although the barman could maybe have been a bit friendlier. Overall, enjoyed the evening thoroughly and will be returning.

I have been here twice and on the first occasion was very impressed if a little chilly near the door, the pasta dish was great (if a little heavy) and service was good. The second time I was disappointed with the food, and the server was far too busy serving a large party to even look at other diners, and it took forever to get the bill. However I am prepared to give it a 3rd chance as there are definitely redeeming qualities...

Managed to get a table for two on a Saturday evening with 45 minutes' notice, great start. Really enjoyed the food (which was plenty, although the seafood chowder is more of a soup than a chowder, but good), and the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and efficient. Would definitely go back.

This was my third visit. The first enticed me back. The food on the first occasion was good. The service was good and the decor is modern, with excellent lighting and subdued background music. The second experience was, however, poor, with disappointing portion sizes and general bad value. I returned last night and all is forgiven. The food was excellent, with a new menu selection and the service was just as good. The restaurant is pricey, but its excellent food and adequate portions with really top class ambiance.

Found a little gem here I think, it seems they all know what they are doing, well chosen dishes and wine list, with an extensive offer by the glass, which is great these days (drink driving)! Would recommend that place anytime, will try to go back there soon, as the owner told me of a new menu which I would really like to try out!!

I have been to Maia several times. I was there about a week after it opened and thought it was quite expensive, but very good. However, over the last couple of months, the service and the food have gone downhill, not that the service was anything to write home about to begin with. Each time I was there, it was hard to get the attention of the server and harder yet to get what one ordered. It just does not live up to its prices.

Yes I found the only place in Dublin that serves brunch till 5pm. Or so I think!! I heard about Maia last week, and decided to give it a try. Had eggs benedict which were ok, my bloody mary was definitely tasty. I proceeded to order dessert my first choice of the panecotta was disappointing, however the staff were eager to please and they changed it to the much tastier lemon tart. They had a good selection of Sunday papers.

This restaurant was suggested to me by a friend. I needed to entertain clients and I am seriously tired of the usual places. So a new restaurant in Ballsbridge was good to hear about. After checking around on Menupages I was a bit worried due to the luke warm reviews. But I gave it a shot and I shouldn't have been worried! All 16 of my group were seriously impressed, and trust me it is hard to impress when the group is made up of people from many different countries. The Italians were particularly pleased! Commenting that the Italian dishes were as good as if they were at home. Overall the wine menu is excellent. The food great - try the salmon salad - delicious. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and the owner really looked after us. Try it out, you will enjoy!

I went here with a group of regular visitors to this establishment, therefore I had high expectations for this restaurant. The setting was nice but freezing inside. The door is constantly open, with all the smokers going in and out. The meal did not start to well first they did not have most of what we ordered from the menu available. Secondly the soup came out cold, after we sent it back we were pestered by the waiter asking us if the soup was now alright every five minutes. Then they mixed up our order. When the main course arrived the dishes were presented very nicely but far from cooked correctly. Spoke to the manager explaining our issues and he kindly took the price of a main course off the bill. Service was terrible, food poor and ambiance was spoiled by the door opening every two minutes. Never again!!

Been here twice now and the same comment applies to both visits - they need to do something about the door, the gaff was freezing on both occasions. The food is good but the service is a little "hit and miss". The girl on our first visit forgot our order completely but she was very nice so we agreed not to complain! On the second visit the basics such as water and our initial drinks were very slow in arriving. The "owner/manager" may as well not be there (unless he knows you) as he does nothing to add to the experience. The least he should do perhaps is welcome diners, ask are they enjoying the meal and say goodbye when they are leaving. I have had the burger (good) with chips (very good) and the next time the Hake (also good if a little greasy but what do you expect with a batter I suppose) It is nicely and trendily decorated and there is a nice mixture of people coming and going but they need to brush up on the service and fix the door situation. Brunch here sounds like a good idea so i'll be back for that...in the summer!

We had brunch in Maia recently. It was surprisingly empty for a Saturday (especially as there was a rugby match in the RDS that afternoon). The food was enjoyable - I loved my eggs benedict and apparently the french toast was excellent too. Service was good.

Went here on Thursday night for dinner. It didn't start too well as, even though we had reserved a table the previous day, we weren't on the reservations list. We were seated fairly promptly though so not a big problem; although if it had been packed then I think there may have been a pretty serious standoff! The service after that little hiccup was actually quite good and the waiter recommended us a very good bottle of red wine. I started out with one of my favourite dishes - scallops and black pudding. It wasn't bad but the accompanying sauce was a little on the greasy side. For mains I had corn fed chicken with pistachios on a bed of red pepper mash. Again, this was okay but not great. The red pepper mash was lovely but went cold a little too quickly after hitting the table. The chicken breast was certainly not of the kind of premium quality you would expect at this price and in an establishment like this. Overall - just about average. The atmoshphere in Maia was really laid back and trendy and it was quite an enjoyable place to eat. However, I probably won't be going back on the strength of the food.

Was hugely unimpressed with this restaurant after reading such good reviews. We had soup for starters, which was watery and tasted like, curry sauce. I had fish as my main course, which was quite nice, but the accompaniments were meagre and I was starving after. My friend had a burger, which was quite tasteless served with chips that looked like dried bit of crumbs from deep fat fryer, and the bread was rock hard and inedible. We explained this to the staff when they were clearing off the table but they were totally disinterested. The venue is lovely and looks very promising from outside but the food is sub standard and I will never eat here again.

A welcome addition to the dull resturants that are on offer in Ballsbridge. The decor is fabulous really cool yet comfortable and the cocktails are delicious. The food is ok but not amazing. I had the duck and it seemed to be re-heated rather then juicy. The next time I went I had the burger which was again a little dry. The service is ok but not brilliant. I have been in about five times and the host and owner never remembers me. It would be nice to be acknowledged as a regular. Overall though it is a cool spot and great for people watching.

I love Maia and have been at least 10 times since it opened. There is always a buzz there, and it's a real people watching spot... I’ve never been disappointed by the food- the chicken skewers are the most succulent I’ve come across, and all the pasta dishes are DIVINE. I've had pretty much everything on the menu at this stage and the only thing I’ve been disappointed with was the Goats cheese salad- found it to be a bit dry. The cocktail menu is great, and don't miss Sat/Sun brunch- which still includes the famous Bridge breakfast!

I have travelled all over Europe and eaten in Europe's and America's finest and hippest establishments. I have been to Maia several times for lunch and for dinner, and everytime it is a treat. The friendly staff and very good service, plus an amazingly tempting menu and great choice of wines, make this my favourite restaurant in Dublin. I am not the only one that thinks that, as it is alway full, which doesn't surprise me at all. Great location, handy for parking and always a good mix of interesting people. I will be back for many more amazing evenings at MAIA.

I have been to Maia now 4 times over the last 2 months. The first 2 times were lovely and the food was great and I was delighted to find somewhere within my vicinity. However, I have returned twice more, the 3rd time we were very much brushed over and not even offered tea/coffee/dessert after our main course, but I booked again for a larger group of people and I am very sorry I booked here. We arrived on time for our table, and it wasn’t ready. We were not invited to hold on at their bar for a drink and asked to come back. On arriving back after their phone call, our table still wasn’t even ready and I was shocked to see a staff member sit blatantly beside another customers’ table to get them to move (if I was that couple I would have been very, very upset). Eventually we got our food (a starter was forgotten); the food is its only saving grace. We were originally offered wine on the house which I declined, my intention was not for free wine but to make the manager aware of my grievances and my embarrassment at taking a group of new customers here and to be treated the way we were. For a place now that has been open for a couple of months and to have review after review discuss its lax (and, on this occasion, rude) service I suppose you would hope that by now it would have taken note. I work in the service industry and eat out on a regular basis. I will most definitely not eat here again, I can think of plenty of other restaurants I would go for a hassle free night.

So far, I've been to Maia twice for dinner. I love the layout and atmosphere; it's modern and trendy, with a muted funky decor and subtle jazzy/bluesy/chill out background music that seems to attract a vibrant clientele ranging from young to old. The menu is excellent too: a single page dining menu facing a single page wine list, the dishes and bottles are much easier to peruse and match when they are pared down in this way. It would be great if more small establishments followed suit and realised that it is better to offer a moderate and thoughtful selection of dishes rather than serving a plethora of options and compromising on the cooking (quality not quantity, as the saying goes) The food is very good for this price bracket, there are some great combinations of flavour & texture (such as the starter of calamari and chorizo salad) and the cooking was faultless both evenings I was there. The hake in particular was deliciously flakey, battered to perfection, and I'd go so far as to say that the Maia chips are possibly the best I've tasted in Dublin. At €9-15, the cocktails err on the expensive side, although they are very tasty and they certainly don't scrimp on the alcohol content! Much as the atmosphere and food were enjoyable, this restaurant is fairly new and still having some teething trouble. The service is a bit erratic and it seems the chain of communication hasn't been fully established yet. EDIT: I returned here for a fourth time, with a party of five, and the service could only be described as lax and sullen, with the food arriving before the wine, drinks orders being forgotten/ mislaid and a grumpy waitress. This is a real pity, as the surroundings and food are quite good.

I ate at Maia with some girlfriends and I found the food indifferent. The menu just didn't inspire me....things like Caesar Salad & chicken wings! I found the hostess to be friendly but didn't have a clue of the wine list by her own admission. Wouldn't rush back.

We loved Maia. Myself and three girlfriends ate there last night for the first time. There was a great atmosphere and we all really liked the decor. The menu is very well priced and there is definitely something for everyone. We had burger, hake and two sea bass - all were cooked to our requirements and we all loved the food. We followed it with heavenly chocolate ice cream and delicious baileys/vanilla creme brulee. We didnt have wine but we did try the cosmopolitans which were first class. Great place, good food, lovely staff. We really did enjoy Maia and would highly recommend it. The menu is so well priced. To get such a choice of main courses under 20 euro is a rare find these days and a welcome one.

I had been in Maia during its first week opening and really enjoyed watching excited banter and comradeship of the owners. Although it was a bit erratic I revelled in watching the hostess charming her way out of any minor problems, and by that I do mean utterly charming! We had a lovely experience and so decided to return last Friday night hoping to see the same friendly faces. The food was ultimately tasty if a little soggy in places. I asked for the chicken salad and its leaves left a lot to be desired! My friend’s pasta was pretty superbly cooked though, I have to say. The atmosphere was busy and the music was enjoyable, if a little loud. It has become somewhat different to my initial experience of an elegant Parisian style home from home to something a little too poseur-y for me. Please Maia don't fall into the typical yuppie D4 style and keep the initial charm you had as that is what we really loved! And couldn’t find the beautiful charming hostess anywhere to complain!!!

A big group of us ate here last night and it was lovely. Unlike previous comments, I thought the staff were very pleasant and efficient, maybe they've upped their game. It’s not the place to go if you're in a rush but great for a laid back, lingering meal. The food isn’t outrageously adventurous but the portions are great and prices reasonable. Recommendations are all pasta dishes, salads, and the burger (the fries are unreal). They had some interesting specials on too...Toulouse sausage with canelli beans was one. We paid 35 a head for mains, lots of wine and a few desserts and coffees. I would definitely return.

I had dinner here last Friday night, with four other girls. Our food was excellent and the restaurant had a great "fun" Friday evening atmosphere. Our only complaint would be the drinks service, we ordered cocktails when we first arrived and they came the table when the starters arrived. After that we ordered wine but our second bottle took literally 15 minutes and when we complained we were told the barman was under too much pressure. Apart from that one complaint I really enjoyed the evening and would definitely go back. The restaurant has only been open a few weeks and I think it deserves another chance to get the staff right!

Really enjoyed our meal.. Great service, very good food and an interesting wine menu. If you are looking for ultra fine style dining then this is not the place for you but if you are looking for good food in relaxed, almost trendy surroundings then this should definitely be on your list. Great value for money and well worth a visit.

Went here for lunch with a group. Comfortable restaurant with on-trend decor. The wine menu covered all bases but menu was pretty tame. The food was nice but not all that memorable; and it’s so basic that it's not really good value for money. Very friendly and competent service; nice buzzy atmosphere.

Tried this new restaurant on Thurs evening, booked for 9.00 and the place was buzzing when we got there - looked like the crowd had been there since early evening. The starters were disappointing - chicken skewers fairly bland and the hummus was strong on chickpeas but lacking in any other flavour - when I commented on this I was told I could request extra garlic next time (i.e. my taste buds were off not the chefs). Ordered burgers for main course - really tasty with excellent fries. Were left sitting for ages before main courses plates taken away and were eventually asked if we wanted anything else - it had taken so long that we opted just for the bill, got the bill but once again no one came to collect our credit card, so in the end we scrambled around for cash and left. Another reviewer mentioned the smoke wafting in through the door - the door was open the entire time we were there so we too were subjected to the smell of smoke. This even included the manager who popped out for a smoke. Staff seemed friendly enough but a little casual on service - as the place is new maybe they are just getting settled - probably will try the restaurant again but will leave it a few months and go for the straight after work time.

I went for dinner to the newly opened Maia last week. The atmosphere is that of a typical relaxed after-work/work colleagues/groups of friend’s type of place. The value is second to none in the Ballsbridge area but the service is still a bit wobbly which is normal in a new restaurant. The recently refurbished building is really smart and airy, the restaurant room is well designed with a welcoming bar, we were very impressed with the whole look. We kicked off the evening with cocktails, there was a nice selection but they tasted slightly amateur. The wine list was spot on, a good range. The starters ranged from a bowl of olives €3 to soup €6 or chicken skewers €10 to name but a few. My friend felt they could do with adding chicken wings as another option, it would appeal to a multitude. For main course the menu offered a nice range of pastas from €10-€16, a house burger, fish and other meat options. All in all the menu is good and very good value. One tip if you are going there, don't sit near the door because the smoking section is outside the front door and when it’s opened all the smoke blows back in on top of your table and your food. I can see myself going back for a casual bite and a bottle of wine with friends, however I might leave it a while and let the service settle down a bit.
