Koishi is a spectacular place to eat. We are sushi connoisseurs, and this is the BEST. Our party consisted of 2 adults and 2 children. All 4 of us were well pleased with everything we ate. The kids were actually double-fisting the dumplings because they were that good. In addition to the delicious food, we found the service to be outstanding, the atmosphere perfect and the price to be very reasonable. We look forward to eating at Koishi any time we visit Dublin!

A group of four went for a birthday meal between Christmas and New Year - we arrived at the restaurant at 8pm to find the place was completely empty, which is never a good sign. That said, all fears and concerns were quickly averted. The staff were incredibly helpful and provided guidance on the menu. The food was incredible and we will definitely be returning. We shared a variety of sushi platters, were very well fed, had two bottles of wine and the bill came in around €180 which we felt was excellent value for the quality of the food served. Easily the best Japanese food in Dublin. Highly recommended.

As usual, fantastic food, good wine and lovey atmosphere. I know the place since the start, I did not go back for long time due to some time abroad but at least few things do not change in Dublin. Highly recommanded!!!!

I ate here with my partner during the week it was not busy only 3 other tables The place has simple decor ,but it is Really clean & cosy with traditional back round Japanese music which was very relaxing a very nice space to wind down as you ate after a busy day ,Comfortable restaurant with the emphasis on the food and service . our waiter was excellent and explained all the dishes and as i am a coeliac he was extremely helpfull as to what contained wheat flour or not ..after a complementary appetizer of soya beens and sides ..( anice touch ) we had a shared starter of beef wrapped over cherry tomatoes a lovely texture and cooked perfect For mains we shared a Sushi and Sahimi selection it was exceptionally good Sushi ,really fresh the salmon and octopus were wonderfull in texture and taste in fact the whole of the selection was really superb quality and Good value for money ,Our Waiter was attentive and great on explaining the different dishes in in detail ,.We had glasses of red and white wines both pleasant enough .The wine list was a good cross section of safe wines but a bit on the small side ,The whole Experience was Relaxing .and it is a Simple place with wonderfully Fresh Sushi and that great feeling of not being overfull after it was very good Value especially for the quality of the food . We will be back and also will try the takeaway service ..

we visited this family run restaurant during horse show week.It is very homely and welcoming and we were immediately shown to our table. There is an exensive menu with a great selection of sushi and a good wine list..We enjoyed an interesting variety of vegetable nibbles while we made our choice. The avocado sushi did not disappoint and both the teriyaki beef and chicken would melt in your mouth, good portion size too. This was all washed down with a bottle of house white and made for a most enjoyable evening. They provide service without servility and had a good rapport with their clients. Our only fault was the hot food coming out on cold plates, it went cold quickly , we made this point on paying the bill and they took it on board. The price represented good value for money and we would recommend this restaurant.

This is a great restaurant. The sushi here is very fresh and all the other dishes are very authentic. I always have the gyoza (which are amazing), and the Tonkatsudon (pork cutlet on rice). The staff are pleasant and very attentive. They also do takeaway and delivery, I have always found this to be of an equally high standard. I know that this is where the Japanese embassy staff come for celebrations which is a good indication of the quality of the food.

Can't understand why this place isn't busier! Owner and server gave terrific service (very family friendly.) Yaki Udon much tastier than Wagas! Sushi was really good - this is so unusal top get good sushi in Ireland. Miso Tempura was great too - didnmt expect such a high standard in a suburban restaurant. Price was spot on value for money.

I have to say I love this place. My boyfriend brought me here for our first date nearly 18 months ago and we try to come back as much as possible. It is a little pricey, but as pointed out by other reviwers, sushi is pricey in Ireland. Since our first visit we have tried plenty of things. The gyoza and the handmade duck spring rolls are 2 of our favourites! They always have a friendly welcoming greeting and as they get to know you they will remember your regular choices and ask if you'd like them on order while you're deciding on your other options. I like this extra touch especially as we might not have been in a while and it's nice to be remembered! They give every table a basket of complimentary endame / soya beans and pickled veg which we normally devour. The staff are always smiling and friendly and whether the restaurant is busy or not the quality of food is always of a high standard. So much so that whenever I visit I always order takeaway for my lunch the next day! And my work colleagues are always jealous!

this is the best japanese food I have tasted!!! I went here with some japanese colleagues last week and was in heaven! first course of a full sea bream on a bed of ice with fresh salmon, mackrel and clam...wow! it is was the most amazing sushi! All food was beautifully presented and the staff could not have done more. I'd go back in a heartbeat. I'd never eat sushi anywhere else in Dublin

We visited Koishi on a Friday evening with two friends who were first timers to Japanese food. When we arrived at 7.00pm we were the first guests and the restaurant was quite quiet (no music). The pleasant waitress brought us a complimentary bowl of steaming edame beans with homemade pickle while we decided what to order. We ordered sushi and sashimi a few items at a time so we could gauge what our friends could and couldn't eat. As one of the friends is coeliac the waitress advised what could and couldn't be eaten and was able to provide her with gluten-free soy sauce. The quality of the tuna and salmon sashimi was particularly good, The octopus was a bit watery - possibly from previously being frozen. The nigiri sushi, maki and hoso maki rolls were all pretty good and nicely presented. Washed down with green tea, which was discretely replaced when the pots were empty, we had a pleasant evening. As the restaurant filled up with a few noisy tables the atmosphere improved. To eat your fill you will leave a bit of a dent on your credit card if you are very hungry when you go - good sushi is never cheap in Ireland. However, this is good sushi and, as such, is good value for money. A final word about the two kimono-clad Japanese waitresses who were very helpful, professional and friendly.

Went here last night with the other half and some of her work colleagues. The food was excellent as was the service. The only thing that let it down was the extreme heat in the building. We had to open a window to get a breath of air. The Set Menus are excellent value and could probably feed two despite the fact that they are just for one. I would recommend the sushi platter and the beef teriyaki was excellent. Dessert was a green tea tiramasu which was really good. Will definitely be back to try some of the other sushi options.

We arrived here for lunch at 1pm on a Monday. We were the first to arrive and the restaurant remained fairly quiet. She had the Yaki Soba and I had the Yaki Udon and if I'm honest I'll admit I've had nicer. She agreed. That being said it wasn't bad and I believe Sushi is where the restaurant really excels. I'd would try this restaurant again.

I think this restaurant serves the best sushi in town. I went with my boyfriend and got a mixed platter of Sushi which offered a good selection when you find choosing sushi confusing - which I do! The staff are all very friendly and smiley. Th only thing is the atmosphere is slightly lacking and mayb a little bit cold. But the food is so good you can get over that - also love the japanese beer that they serve. Last time I went they gave 10% off the next visit and I will definately be returning to use it!!

I was in Koishi with my mum and we both felt just like we were in Japan, great atmosphere. I started with giozas and believe me they have the best giozas in Dublin!!!!! My mum had sushi and she really liked it.Then we did try sake - it was great new experience in cold evening. The mains were tuna terriyaki - it was very nice, my mum had salmon terriyaki that was perfect. Then we had pots of green tea to relax and digestive our fantastic meals. In Koishi you can indulge the quality of food and cooking skills. Despite the fact that it is healthy eating, it looks fantastic and it is yummy. Waitresses are polite and helpful. If you dont know how to use chopsticks they will teach you in few seconds, you can ask them about Japanese culture, food, tradition etc For my Giozas will be coming back every time i am passing by cos it really is worth it.

I had the pleassue of attending Koishi for dinner with my husband and a few friends The food quality was top notch and the sevice was quick and attentive. Our only disappointment was that there was a large party of 10 in the resturant and becuase the dining area is so small it put a damper on the evening for we were strainning to hear each other at time. After reading some of the other comments, I was expecting the sushi to be on the pricing side but I did not find that, I personally found that the hot dishes were a bit expensive e.g. 16.50 for beef ramen soup. I will definately go back but will avoid the hot main courses.

I am a regular customer in koishi since i work around the corner, I think the service and the atmosphere is very very good especially when the Japanese waitress are around. The food is good and the price is fair enough. Sometimes when the restaurant is busy the service is bit slow though.

I visited this restaurant with my husband and baby this summer. The sushi was very tasty but pretty expensive. The staff were very accommodating and even helped carry our buggy up the stairs! They were also very knowledgeable about the menu. On the whole I would return but would prefer if the menu was a bit cheaper.

Went last Saturday with the Girlfriend who loves her Sushi. She was very impressed with the sushi selection she got. I had wild trout teriyaki from the specials board and some fried rice. Was very nice although I have had better (but not for the price). The restaurant wasn't very busy for a saturday so the stmosphere was a little quiet but the service was very friendly and attentive. Overall a nice place for the price with authentic and tasty Japanese food. Rare enough in Ireland.

Definitely one of the better sushi restaurants around. Prawn sushi, spicy tuna roll (special of the night), salmon roll and yaki sob noodles along with a tasty Chilean Sauv Blanc came to €60. There's also a great selection of noodles/rice dishes for those who are not fans of sushi/sashimi. Great value, excellent service.

This is the best Japanese food I've had in Ireland and the most authentic. They made a special roll on request for me. The large basket of edamami and little salad that came complimentary set the evening off nicely. The waitstaff was nothing but happy, knowledgable and kind. Everyone we were with agreed that this restaurant is a true gem. Can't wait to return!

Went here for lunch last Friday, love the decor of the restaurant - a lot of thought, effort and money have gone into making this one of the nicest looking restaurants in Dublin. Unfortunately the food and prices didn't live up to the decor - which probably explains why there were only three tables occupied for the whole of lunchtime. They have bento boxes - two of us had those - pretty good but expensive for lunch €14.95 - not the kind of money you could spend on lunch everyday. Also the use of fish sticks for sushi and in the seafood tempura was just wrong in every way possible - whatever savings they made on using them was not worth losing customers. Love japanese food but there are better alternatives out there.

Few restaurants have learned that during recession time, they have to provide better quality, better service and better value for money than any other restaurant. Koishi is one of the places that has learned how to accomodate customers in a simple, and friendly atmosphere. They also have a great lunch time offer, which accomodates quick and quality lunch time food. The atmosphere successfully recreates that of atypical japanese restaurants, whitout too much fuss and including minimalists principles to the best effect. The food in wholesome and is guaranteed to hit a spot! Long live Koishi

Koishi is definitely the best Japanese restaurant in Dublin and it's sushi is second to none. The staff are very friendly and if you are not that familiar with Japanese food they are more than happy to explain anything to you. The lunchtime bento boxes are delicious and offer a range of the food available - great for a taster.

This would have to be the best sushi restaurant in Dublin, both in terms of quality and price. The sushi platters are quite reasonable and great to share as a starter or even as a light dinner. The main courses are actually quite big and well worth the price, even though they are not overly pricey. We found the staff to be very attentive and helpful. The only thing I could criticise is the lack of a decent range of beers, otherwise I there is nothing else I could fault. I will definitely be returning and have recommended Koishi to many friends already.

The best sushi restaurant I've ever been in my life. The staff is so friendly, polite, and helpful. I really enjoyed talking to one of them. I love the Kimono they were wearing. Beautiful deco and great atomosphere. I had a sushi platter and my partner had a chicken ginger I can't wait to come back.

Ate here for the first time 2 weeks ago and i have been back since. The food is so fresh, and brilliant value. Big portions of sushi for half the price than other places. Definitely worth a visit! The wine is good too. Only bad point is the place was empty both times we were there, but it was a Sunday and Monday night that we visited. Hopefully its busier at weekends. Will definitely be back, and its worth trying - spread the word!

Delicious! Brought my mum here for dinner last night and had a really great meal! She would be alot more experienced with Japanese food, been to Nobu and places like that and she loved it too. Portion sizes are great and so fresh. Really good value and lovely wine too! Service was really great. It was a pity it wasn't full, but I suppose it was a Tuesday night! They should take down the review that is in the hallway though as it's not a true representation of the food. Can't wait to go back!

Very generous sashimi portions. I had lunch there today (with four colleagues) and the sashimi portions and service are what really stand out for me. I went for the two course lunch menu for 14.50. There is a choice of about 5 starters and main course. The tuna and salmon sashimi was probably sufficient for a decent lunch in itself. I followed this with the chicken miso ramen. It would be nice to see some chilli ramen on the menu, but you can always add the powdered chilli yourself. Our waitress was very pleasent and happy to talk to one of the group who lived in Japan for a year. All five of us were very happy with our lunch.

Koishi has the best sushi and sashimi in Dublin. The fish is always melt-in-your-mouth. I've been here many times, and keep coming back due to the excellent food and excellent service. The staff are all Japanese, and the owner is too, so it's pretty authentic. Koishi is a bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. The only downside is that there is little atmosphere; the place was nearly empty two of the times I was there. A saving grace is the staff uniform - a kimono-like getup. Very pretty. Overall, one of my favourite restaurants in Dublin. I cannot reccommend it enough.

This was my first time eating Japanese, having always been wary of the sushi, which I am not a fan of in general. The restaurant was very quiet for a Thursday night but that is no reflection of the food or service probably more to do with the big "R"! My other half had the Sake Sashimi for starter where as I stuck with the chicken skewers; we were both equally impressed! For mains we both went for beef, he had Shogyaki and I had Gyu Don, I think! Again, beef very tender and both dishes very flavoursome! We shared a delicious chocolate cheescake for dessert. I will never right off Japanese food again just because I personally am not a fan of sushi/sashimi and there is plenty other options available for anybody else like me!

Went here with work colleagues for lunch. Very comfortable surroundings, lovely atmosphere and decor; and the service was very pleasant. Food delicious-Sushi and Sashimi beautifully presented and very plentiful. mains equally generous and good value for money. It was my first outing to a Japanese restaurant in many years, but will definitely be taking another trip for work lunches, and will recommend to all and sundry!

It’s not the first time I’ve been to Koishi and each time I’ve been impressed. Went here for lunch on a Monday. The lunch special is good value at €14.50 for a starter and main. Everything about Koishi comes across as traditional. Salmon & tuna sashimi was very good. The chicken ramen for mains was very good also – full of miso flavour, filling yet light. Service here is welcoming and friendly. I’m looking forward to trying my next dish soon.

Food, service excellent. I only gave atmosphere a 3 because on the night we were there we were seated by the window and it was so cold and a very bad draught coming in. But only a small thing when everything else was wonderful. I am always a little wary of suishi but there was no need with Koishi. I will definitely be back again and soon. I passed on to my work colleagues the next day and all of them are going to try now

Very rarely would I give a restaurant a full five stars on everything - but Koishi well deserves it. The sushi is excellent, matched by delicious starters and main courses, all delivered by an attentive and extremely nice staff. As a bonus, they give you free edamame to sample while you peruse the menu! I recommend the Agadashi Tofu to start (best in Dublin) and the Unagi.

Good food and excellent and informative staff who advised on meals as one of our party was unsure as what to eat. Will definitely return. Only complaint is that it seems to be slightly overpriced for what we got.

This is the best Japanese food in dublin by far. The sushi was well presented and tasty. All other Japanese establishments need to wake up and catch up. Also the value for money is better than the rest. It still has some ways to catch up with international Sushi but it is a good start.

Very impressed with the quality of Japanese food at this establishment. If you like sashimi the daily specials are really worth considering - we had a wonderful selection including Hokki Gai (large clam), Hamachi (Yellowtail), Shime Saba (Mackerel), Maguro (Tuna) and the freshest Tai (Sea Bream) I've tasted in a very long time. The sushi maki was also very good as were the stuffed inari pockets. The service was very attentive and the waitress even suggested a dry cold sake that wasn't even on the menu. Excellent evening and very much looking forward to going back!

When we sat down we were presented with a warm basket of salted edamame (soybeans) which we loved. The staff were friendly and we loved the kimonos and decorations in the resturant. We orderd some nigiri and maki sushi as starters which were really tasty. Our mains were a little dissapointing though, my beef teriyaki was a little over done and a bit bland and my partner ordered the pork Katsu which was good but again a little bland. Overall the food was good but, on reflection I think I would have enjoyed a large sushi platter more.

good food but the atmosphere could have been cosier - seems everyone was seated round the edges and the waiters stood watching throughout most of the meal. Having said that it was a good meal and I'll go back - food was well presented and tasty

What a shame after so many good reviews. I was extremely disappointed on my second visit, it appears the staff have decided not to keep up the good work. The sushi was ok, but the service was slow and inefficient. Three times I had to ask for a glass of water and waited 15 mins for the bill. The manger made no apology when informed and was very rude. Sorry won't be going back to this one!

I came here for the first time with a party of 4 and although I would consider this restaurant a step in the right direction towards having good Japanese food in Dublin, it's certainly overpriced for what you get. The food presentation is jazzed up but the quality remains much the same as other cafe style jap restaurants. They have a decent range of sake there and the waitresses are actually Japaneses rather then Chinese which adds to the authenticity of the place. Still, not great value as the food here can only be compared to the run of the mill mediocre fast food under the train stations in Japan.

Went here last weekend with a group. Decor was nice, quite traditional. Waitresses in kimonos etc. It's nice to see a traditional Japanese in Dublin rather than all the noodle bars. Food was good, but a little predictable, they need a few stand out signature dishes to keep people coming back. Service was pretty good. Good value for money, especially considering it's location.

Went on Saturday night with 2 other girls on my birthday. They brought a birthday cake with candles and played happy birthday for me. Nice food and great service. I have to say this is original Japanese restaurant! I used to live in Japan for 6 months, I've thought another place was the closest to Japanese food - but this place is real. Will definitely be back and highly recommend it.

I have been there twice with my husband since they opened last month. I am a Japanese food lover and found the quality of food far much better than other competitors. The waiters are all from Japan and they make sure you are well looked after. We ordered the Ume - sushi and sashimi combination platter to share for starter and we were very impressed with the presentation. The green tea is real maccha tea and certainly delicious. For main course the first time I had the seafood cha han and it was a perfect portion. On my last visit I had the Yaki Soba and it was cooked to perfection. I find this place to be in a very good location and the atmosphere is very relaxing.

I ate here for dinner with two friends, I found the restaurant itself to be really well decorated & the service to be very friendly. The food was delish. I had Tempora & Koishi chashu ramen. I really enjoyed my meal as did my friends.
