We pick takeaway from here regularly. The food is delicious, and you get free poppadoms and dips with your takeaway. Everything we have tried, has been very good, indeed. Very good value for money, and we will surely eat in, one day, too. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone, who is looking for authentic Indian food.

I went here with my wife and 2 friends after the awful Ireland v SA Rugby match. We were cold and hungry and we were made very welcome. I wouldn't say it is the best Indian food i have eaten in Dublin but it was tasty, not too expensive and the service was very good. I would certainly give it another try.

We eat here regularly and it's our favourite Indian Restaurant in Dublin. The staff are great, friendly, informative and attentive. The food is divine. Free poppadoms and dips when we arrive, starters are well presented and tasty. Our favourite is the mixed grill platter for two. I like mild dishes so usually go for their Aftab or Korma - always delicious and the chicken just melts in your mouth. My partner likes spicy and loves their Kadhai and Chettinad curries - their lamb is wonderfully tender too. A previous poster seemed upset that they charged for their naan breads - but I have never known an Indian Restaurant give naan breads for free - poppadoms yes, but not naan. The desserts are limited but we're usually too stuffed to order them anyway. We have never had a bad meal here and will continue to dine here as often as our waistlines permit!

Two of us had lunch, food was very average. Everything kind of seemed Tomato....ie...Floor staff was attentive but they charged extra for naan bread. Waiter never advised us the way it works and chappati was a joke.Wasn't impressed at all but place got full in few minutes.

Ate here with a party of six and we were all impressed. The décor was nice, the service efficient and polite and the food was great. The early bird menu on a Sunday evening was good value and has enough selection.

Am a regular user of the take-away service. Their food is delicious, and they are very prompt with delivery. Only query would be on the korma sauce - I think they must have a new chef or something because the sauce has definitely changed - the spices are different, not as tasty to be honest. Overall I am a big fan, but I think I will give it a break for a while and then see if they can get their sauces back on track!

The food is delish and the service is great. There was 3 of us and it was a quiet Thursday night but I think the service would be great regardless! Just a small comment, would have liked more sauce on starters but apart from that great. Will definitely be back

I have eatne here a few times, but as I live nearby, I tend to get a take away. The food is absolutely divine, and it has a good range of dishes. The starters always have a good flavour with the just the right amount of spice. If you collect the food in person, there's a 12% reduction on the menu price and if you spend more than €20, you get free soft drinks, more than €30, you get free beer and more than €40, you get a free bottle of wine. The staff are always pleasant and warm to deal with. It's definitely worth a visit, to sit in or take away.

A favourite place of mine, we were a big crowd of closer to 30 people (I lost count!) and were squashed in in one long table. I had the christmas special menu for 30 euro as did some of the friends seated close to me. Portions were big! Quality a bit variable of some of the courses but the Lamb Khadi was absolutely adorable..Yum! Others loved the Pistacho Kulfi. Staff were trying to keep up with the very busy evening so I didn't mind some things were forgotten that we had ordered, it all came in the end with a smile. I will always return to this place for sushi and sides, well worth it!

I ate in Chandni !!! recently with a group of six girls. The interior is really great and the place was packed so had a busy atmosphere. We started with some Indian beers which were strong , also had some well priced wine. The service was good, the host very accommodating, however there was something in the mix grill as starter, it is very good to test . As a main course I got a Mix Birianys, the presentation of biriany was lovely, their mix biriany is very special then others. I have spent quite a bit of time in India and favour the more delicate flavours that the dishes there seemed to have. I ate the whole dish because I was hungry, but I wouldn’t order it again. My friends who ordered curries were happy, another friend ordered Fish curry and it was lovely test. I’ve heard such good things about this place that I would try it again, but finally we will come back again

lovely surroundings, gorgeous tables, plates etc. wanted to know where they got their staff. food . We went as a group of 6 and the staff were really helpful. The starters as a mix grills and Mix platers were DELICIOUS!!! I got Lamb jalfrizi and my boy friend take chicken Kadahi as main both was absolutely tasty.... great value for food. The food was fabulous from starter to dessert even the ice cream! I couldn't fault a thing, everyone raved about it afterwards. CHANDNI is really doing better rather than their rivals. All in all - well worth it and we will be going back very soon.

I have been to Chandni a couple of times now and would have to say that my enjoyment has gone down, slowly maybe, but has gone down on each visit. On my last visit the service was just not up to scratch and we were left waiting too long for our food and in the end had to enquire about it. Having said this, if this can be addressed the food on offer here is quite good, but with a competitor with VERY VERY good food, wide variety of beer and deserts only a stones throw away, down the street, I know where I will be going until I hear better reviews of Chandni

Shame, it used to be so good. Both my husband & I have eaten here many times before but hadn't been here since June. I have to say we were both disappointed with the food, poor value and the staff. The staff are always pleasant and try to be helpful but they all seem somewhat uncomfortable around people! It might sound strange but I think they're not in the correct job. The food was okay. We had a mixed platter as a starter which was just okay. I had Chicken Biryani which I found lacked Chicken and the sauce was very watery. My husband loves Chicken Tikka Masala and has had it there countless times before but this time he actually said it wasn't great. Again he found the sauce to be poorly made, lacking flavour. We both suspected that the sauces seemed somewhat cheaply made. There were very few people in the restaurant when we were there but my husband waited a very long time for his first drink. We saw them bring it to the wrong table but then they didn't bring it to us for a further 5 minutes!! I was disappointed also with the value. It seems they haven't reduced their prices, the quality has certainly dropped and there were no specials available (except a €30 deal for 2 courses which to me is not a "deal"). Sadly I don't think we'll be going back to what used to be our favourite Indian in the area :-(

Chandni come back to its best. I know this restaurant for long time. At the start, the food was fantastic, one of best Indian in Europe for me. But, at the top of the bubble, quality was down as prices were up. Today, may be because the recession, quality is back and prices are down. So, the mixed grill or the chicken bariani are strongly recommended. Add a Valpolicella and it will be perfect.

I have to say indian cuisine is the most difficult to cook and thats why there are only a few good indian restaurants only in ireland.Chandni is one of them, beautiful food with intact flavors. We visited this place very recently and they exceeded expectations. Its not about decor all the time..as a diner i go for food and if food is not good then its a disaster. Starters were very fresh and tender, i had prawns and my friend had chicken tikka which was juicy not overdone as others do. In mains i had one of the best veg biryanis' full of flavors...last time i had biryani somewhere else it was missing vegetables and raita was very tasty...will def recommend this place if u r dining in this area

A group of us from work visited here and it was incredibly tasty. The lunch menue is excellent value and the food was exceptional. It is so hard to find a good indian restaurant sometimes, especially one that doesn't hold back on the spiciness. Chandni's Vindaloo is outstanding with a real kick to it. Definately a place to go if you want proper spicy Indian food.

This is a great Indian restaurant-i love the Bombay Aloo as a main course, and can also recommend the Chicken Jalfrezi. The portions are extremely generous, which makes dining here great value for money. The staff are very attentive and respectful.

Having been for dinner before, a lunchdate with friends was another opportunity to see if the food delivered. It did, again. All four dishes we shared were really tasty with very generous portions. Even with extra Naan breads, the lunch menu is great value. Delicious!

Went here for lunch recently on a recommendation, having passed it by foot over a hundred times. Interior is quiet stylish Lunch deal at €14.50 is good value. Service is friendly and professional. My starter of tandoori chicken and mains of lamb madras with naan was very good and not too oily. Overall a very good experience. Look forward to going back.

Often go here for lunch and for value for money you can't beat it. 3 courses under €15 and thats with proper portion sizes too! As Indian food goes I find most places in Ireland aren't great and tend to cater to those that can't handle the heat but the chef here knows when to add the chillies and when to hold back. Service cant be a litle slow at times and its not for lack of staff though in fairness have been there a few times when they seem to be training a new staff member in so maybe got the brunt end of things. Book if you want to go at lunchtime on a friday as the hangover crew tend to hit here on those days!

Four of us ate here last Friday before the Leinster game. The early bird menu was great value. The food was of very good quality. The naan breads were spot on. We washed it down with a very fruity spanish red wine. The service was prompt and efficient which was great as we had a limited time before heading to the match. If you are looking for a pre match meal of quality and value I'd highly recommend Chandni

Having been here a couple of times before I couldn't wait to go back and wasn't disappointed. I went with 2 friends. We had the platter to start which is a lovey selection. The quality of the food here is so good. Great choice on the menu and they will cook any Indian dish even if its not on the menu! The service was good. The only thing slightly lacking is atmosphere - but the food more than makes up for that! If you like Indian food you have to visit!

I had recommended by friends and it was worth to visit this restaurant for pleasant dining with very good selection of wine; nice menu layout which makes easy to order, I had mixed platter for my starter and Hariyali with lime rice and naan. Inside of the restaurant is very clean but not much decoration as other Indian restaurant does, food quality is good, service is superb and very professional head waiter I've hardly met in other places.Early bird is good value of money, great stuff with free glass of wine. Not very happy with unisex toilet but nothing serious foe me at all, acceptable. Will strongly recommend who loves Indian food and definitely go back soon.

I wrote a rather unfavourable review of Chandni a few months ago but recently revisited it and have a completely changed opinion. The food here is mouthwatering, I live down the road and have tried pretty much every dish on the menu at this stage. Never been disappointed. Their Biryani is the best I've ever tasted outside India. The atmosphere here isn't great, I've never seen more than a half dozen tables occupied but the service is top notch. And they seem to have fired the snotty waiter who provoked my earlier bad review! Delicious.

I went here last week before the Bruce Springsteen concert. I half expected to be rushed in and out and to be honest it was meant to be a pit stop dinner. I can happily say not once where we rushed, the staff where so attentive and the food absoutely delicious. Really there us nothing I could fault this restaurant on. And it was real value for money. I would recommend it to anybody and I will definetly be going back:)

I was recommended Chandi by an Indian friend - didn't disappoint. Good service (if a smidgen gruff, though the waiter subsequently redeemed himself), the food arrived quickly and portions were generous. Served in some very nice (and seemingly) authentic dishes as well. I had the dhaniwari gosht - the waiter warned me it was hot, and true to form I was almost burned to high heaven, but in a well cooked indian food way rather than a pot of Sharwoods chilli powder. It possibly didn't allow me to fully appreciate the flavour of the food though, and the quality of the lamb meat in this dish was not high. Overall, worth a re-visit and a lovely place to spend an evening. (Good wine as well)

Ate here yesterday with a friend, neither of us had been before. The food was lovely, the service not so good. We ate off the lunch menu and when we asked the waiter for another minute he came back to us after exactly 1 minute and told us “it’s not hard”. I felt rushed and a bit patronised, but overall I can’t feel too badly about it as the food was good as was the value. Given I suspect that the urgency may be related to the Christmas period I will not slate this restaurant, but given there are other restaurants just steps away, where I’ve had only good experiences, I may not be back.

Have eaten here a few times now and been impressed on every occasion. Most of the starters are good, with the only let down being the prawns which were too small and had too much batter on them. The main courses have always been very good, especially the chicken chilli masala and the gosht shabnan. We will definitely be back again.

Chandni offer two lunch menus, one for €10 and one for €15, both consisting of three courses. We ordered from the €10 menu. Starters were deep-fried prawns in semolina flour and lamb pakora. The pakora had a nice spicy flavour. The prawns were nicely cooked but lacked spice. Mains were a deliciously sweet and spicy chicken jalfrezi and a meaty lamb curry. A large puffy naan and pilau rice finished off the main courses. We declined desert. Service throughout was attentive and our water glasses were kept topped up throughout. Judging by the busy tables, Chandni is popular with local workers and deservedly so. The toilets however could do with a freshening up.

The best Indian restaurant I have tried in Dublin yet. The use of spices is inventive and subtle. The dishes have distinctive flavours and textures, quite different to the usual oily gloop that passes as 'curry'. I have brought a number of Indian guests to Chandni and all have been pleased and impressed. Authentic and excellent quality. But they should do something about the toilets...

We went for dinner on a Saturday night around 8.30, we were greet at the door very nicely and seated immediately as it was quiet. I ordered the chicken tikka, the waiter very nicely informed me that this dish was dry and was I aware of that. I decided to change my order and have a different dish, which was outstanding, I think it was chicken with a tomato cream sauce with some added spice. The service was excellent all evening, we certainly didn't object paying the 12.5% service charge. We had a very enjoyable night there; I would definitely recommend it, great value for money.

Lunch menu is great value. Got a bit of dodgy lamb the last time but the chicken dishes are good.

They do a really good lunch menu for only €10 for two courses. Plenty of food for lunchtime and it's really tasty too...

We were introduced to this restaurant by friends. We ate there one Saturday night when we couldn't get a table anywhere else!! The food is excellent and very reasonable. Have gotten take away from there several times since and it's very good. The restaurant is not fancy but they do good food

I have eaten here for lunch a number of times and was never disappointed. The value and quality is second to none and I look forward to eating there in the evening at some point. Staff have always been helpful and the restaurant has been busy. They have a great variety for their lunch menu and it is all served beautifully.

I went in after reading some of the reviews here. Given the complementary poppadom pieces and 3 mini chutneys (1 of which I liked), maybe there's some excuse for the 12.5% service charge - I may well have left a larger tip, but rarely tip if a service charge is 'imposed'. Service was efficient - my water glass was regularly refilled, without needing to ask and the door was opened for me as I left. I ate the Chicken Chilli Masala, which was delicious with a good flavour and plenty of soft pieces of chicken. The small red and green chillies were of medium heat and could have been avoided if they caused offence. The garlic nan had the (pleasant) surprise of also being well covered in chopped coriander - pity then that the chef decided to chop it into 4 pieces - maybe it's just me, but I like to get by nan intact! I'm glad I didn't take rice as there is no effort made to warm the plates and there's nothing to keep your meal warm either. All in all a good meal, but the unisex M/F toilet was a bit manky and the wall to the side of the wash basin either needs re-painted or scrubbed down... I'm glad I went after I'd eaten. For the food it's worth a 4, but overall I've given it a 3.

Chandni's food is good. There's a good range, and it tastes good and it's well presented. The same can't be said for the service. We had to wait 45 minutes for our food. When we objected to the 12.5% "compulsory" service charge, the manager abused us, saying that we should have walked out if we didn't want to wait and daring to ask which country we were from. He couldn't acknowledge that the service was appalling, and instead resorted to insulting his customers.

Decent enough little Indian that does a two course lunch for €10. At that money, you get what you pay for, but Chandni probably beats off some of its local rivals on food quality. Service is a bit over eager and on a windy day, the room isn't very comfortable. However, the lamb balti and the chicken jalfrezi main courses are pretty good. Starters are small and can be dominated by the sauces swirled on the side of the plate. Ok for a quick lunch but nothing to write home about.

We visited the Chandni on Friday 19th Jan 2007. The food was excellent. We couldn't fault it in any way. I would highly recommend this restaurant. I would certainly make every effort to dine here again when I go back to Dublin.

One of my favourite Indian restaurants. The perfect place after a match at Lansdowne. The food is excellent and they tailor any dish on request. The staff are all Indian and pride themselves in their service. They do a great value lunch menu also.

It is hard to find fault with Chandni, maybe just the feel of the place is a bit clinical. Great food and fantastic value for money.

Outstanding Indian food with good service. The lunch menu is one of the best values in Ballsbridge, and the food is abundant and flavourful.

Had the lunchtime set menu for 15 euro. The food was very good in a nice surrounding. Parking can be a bit of a problem. Good value for money.

Good quality food, efficient service and very eager to make suggestions if you simply want to try something new. Always drop in there after a trip to the RDS and to be honest if you keep on going back there is no higher recommendation.
