I eat regularly enough in Canal Bank - usually on a weekday evening or for Saturday/Sunday brunch. The consistency of the food is what keeps me coming back. I ate there on Saturday afternoon last and this visit was no different to any previous. I ordered the buffalo wings while my partner had a chicken with avocado salad from the specials menu. Both courses were delivered speedily and the food, as always, was top notch. I've never managed to completely polish off a portion of the wings....maybe next time! The atmosphere was great and the service was very friendly. I would highly recommend Canal Bank for a weekend lunch/dinner with friends - perfect place to get your evening started!

Consistently good. A nice atmosphere is guaranteed with a lovely menu to accompany it. This restaurant is known for their chicken wings - and should be. The calamari was cooked perfectly and both the bacon & poached egg salad and chicken burger had nice flavours. A sundae for dessert was generous in size although slightly difficult to eat out of the tall, slim sundae glass. Not a bad seat in the house. Highly recommend this place.

This is my FAVOURITE casual dining restaurant in Dublin. Everything is spot on - the foot, the atmosphere, the service and the prices. As well as really great comfort food - burgers, fish and chips, THOSE chicken wings, they also do some delicious healthy salads, hearty and more refined mains. Don't miss dessert here. The sundae's and cheesecake are particularly good. What I love about the service is that the staff are really friendly and timing always seems to be just right. They give you plenty of time after mains to wait before ordering dessert. Have never felt rushed here at all. Iced lemony tap water comes on arrival. The also do lovely cocktails if you are willing to splash out. I have seen Colm Tobin and Colin Farrell eating here before. It is a firm fav on the Dublin social scene.

Following a hectic Bank Holiday weekend, a table for 2 was taken at the Canal Bank. Chicken Wings to share to start followed by two battered fish and chips, lovely, filled the gap perfectly. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, just how I like it Just water on this particular night - but service and food were as usual very good.

I got a craving for chicken wings last night so we decided to give Canal Bank Café a try as it was closer than the sister restaurant in Ranelagh (Tribeca). We hadn't booked a table but they were able to seat the pair of us within 10 minutes, not bad for 9pm on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was great, good jazz sounds but not so loud as to hamper conversation. Our waiter took our order promptly - he must have read the hunger on our faces - and was always quick to replenish iced water stocks when they were low, we never had to ask for another drink. The wings were gorgeous. The dip was a bit too cheese-laden for my liking, but it was noticeably fresh, something I find lacking in the area of "house" condiments in many Dublin restaurants. We split a medium-cut fries between us (around 4.25 euro I think) but felt a few more in the portion wouldn't have gone amiss for the money. VERDICT: All around great service and atmosphere, good value for money, will definitely return.

Visited here for a team lunch during the week. Shared the most amazing chicken wings (the old favourite!). 5 of us had the Cod fillet which was absolutely gorgeous and oozed with delicious flavours, and was well complimented with mouth-watering sauted potato . The remainder of the party went for the steak sandwiches which were equally enjoyed. I'm happy to say our lunch hour was jsut about that, services was alot faster than our last lunch-time visit here, Planning the next visit already!

I visited Canal Bank Cafe today for lunch. The place was fairly busy, mainly with the suit and tie workers from nearby offices. However, I had a choice of tables to choose from and selected one in the centre of things. The menu seems to be mainly made up of starters, salads, mains, and desserts; however, they did have a few sandwiches and omlettes for around the 13-15 euro mark, all of which came with fries. Why-oh-why is it so hard to order a sandwich in a pub or cafe without getting a side of fries with them? So, I ordered the crab starter, and my friend had the mezze plate. My crab starter was lovely - crab dressed with apple and fennel dressing, with a tarragon dressing, and toasted home made brown bread. This was very tasty and well presented, but for 10.50, I thought the portion was quite small. The service was excellent - we were left to ourselves, which is what you want when you're having a catch up with a friend. My only quibble is that by 3pm, I was starving.

Canal Bank is quite a cool place, its always full and busy with lots of generations. I have been here a number of times, its kinda my local. We love their Chicken Wings and Burgers, the atmosphere is relaxed and laid back - not stressful, the staff are always efficient and the food is good too. Great for a local night out.

I went here on a friday night with my girlfriend. The place was fairly full and we had to make a booking. The service was fine, although probably not attentative enough due to the number of people there. We ordered fish on the menu which was all out which was unfortunate and I had a burger which wasn't amazing. The bill was expensive enough but probably average priced around that area, and the atmospehere was great

Love the chicken wings here! Have been getting them for a couple of years now but one thing i will say is that the portion size has definately decreased! they seem to bend the celery sticks in a certain way now that takes up most of the basket! Everytime i go i get these to share with my boyfriend along with two sides of chips, this used to fill us both to the brim but now after we leave we both fill kind of unsattisfied and will feel like more food later on! BRING BACK THE NORMAL SIZE PORTION OF CHICKEN WINGS! Also i do agree with some other comments that that they can be snooty in there! if you dont look like someone that has millions you arent welcomed very well.

ate in here about a month ago with 4 other friends, my first visit to the place. nice relaxed interior and nice location - perfect for some food during the day. my friends had had the chicken wings here before and raved about them so we all got chicken wings - omg divine - so so tasty! thinking about them now makes me think another visit is badly needed! we just got chips to go with them - skinny chips - i prefer chunky ones but saying that they were very tasty. out plates were left clean at the end of the meal!

had lunch here during weekday. The place was almost full when we arrived. Prompt & friendly service from waitress. The chicken wings didn't disappoint. Salads & burger were good but i feel the salad is a little overpriced compared to others restaurant around here. would return again.

We actually visited here 3 times in the last month (it's close to where I'm currently working). On the 1st occasion we ordered the pork special, which was absolutely delicious, but took a very long time to arrive. We had theatre tickets, so ended up being very rushed. It would have helped greatly if we'd been pre-warned about the preparation time for this dish... However, the food was so nice, we returned again for 2 afternoon visits. We've sampled the chicken wings - amazing!... I had the chicken breast - lovely comfort food... And I also had the thai chicken salad. Whilst the salad was really lovely, there wasn't much 'Thai' about it... I could be wrong, but it seemed they'd run out of the ingredients and did lots of supplementing. But it was still really tasty and nice and light. My boyfriend had the fish & chips - he loved it. He never eats mushy peas, but said theirs were lovely - helped along by some mint flavouring. Overall, in our 3 experiences, the food has been lovely, the atmosphere nice and relaxed and the staff friendly. I'm sure we'll be back here again too.

Chicken wings - I craved them so went to one of the best places in the city for them! They didn't disapoint, very tasty and appropriately spicy. My husband had the chicken burger and we had a glass of wine each. It was all very nice but looking at other items on the menu I thought it is a bit expensive for mid recession times. There are no deals and 16 euro for a chicken burger is a bit much.... Will go back but there are some things I would avoid on principle of price - 17 euro for a goat's cheese salad!!

Fantastic Eggs Benedict - really thick slices of ham. Himself managed to get the last one so be there early! I ordered the crispy chicken salad - ok if you like greasy chicken with salad, seemed a strange combo for me though! So: definitely go there for eggs at brunch time, avoid salad!

I thought that the recession combined with the rising demand for customer service in Ireland had put paid to snootiness like we experienced here last Friday in the late afternoon. Upon walking in the door the "host" looked us both up and down and without a hello or a smile asked "Do you have reservations"? I replied that we did not but made visual reference to the obviously empty 4 or 5 tables around. I wear a suit to work four days a week, I guess they don't do casual Friday's here? Anyway, we were ushered to a table in the corner - literally in the corner. As we fancied a cake and coffee we ordered a Danish and two black coffees. We were grateful when the waitress corrected us to the official name "Americano". The Danish was a sticky tasteless affair but to be fair the coffees were very nice ad served with a cold glass of water. The final straw was that three of the waiters in the place in the space of the 15 mins we were there came over and stared directly at our table. Nearly 8 quid for rudeness and an almost Victorian level of snobbery.

Went here for a very pleasant Sunday brunch. I had the omelette special with goats cheese and chorizo which was delicious. I really enjoyed being able to read the papers with a coffee in a nice atmosphere. I thought the staff were very friendly.

six of us went out last night to dinner and had lovely meal. Was a bit disappointed with service as asked twice for oil but never came. Enjoyed the food. Good atmosphere was great to see a full restaurant. Music was quite loud so if wanted to be on quiet meal too noisey.

This is my favourite place for lunch and I go there as often as I can. I always go for the chicken caesar salad or the chicken burger. It's excellent value and the staff are really friendly. They go out of their way to accomodate you and it's service you'd expect in a five star restaurant. It's chicken wings are also amazing and great value!

The Best Service! Sat for ages reading the sunday papers after eating and the waiter filled our water glasses without interrupting or rushing us at all. Eggs benedict were perfect. Not cheap but definitely good value. Desert wasn't anything hugely special (yohgurt cake) but very nicely presented, and good as a light option.

I have been here 3 times to date and have had 2 very good experiences and one bad. In general, I find the burgers very good, the salads are tasty and filling, but the service is hit and miss and you can be overlooked a good bit during your meal. However, i do think it is excellent value and my last time there was really very positive so i would still recommend a visit. And the chicken wings are obviously amazing! Just don't be in too much of a hurry as you may get frustrated with the staff!!

I've eaten in the Canal bank a few times and true the chicken wings are gorgeous but the rest of the menu is dire. Everything is so overpriced. Their burgers are well under seasoned and tasteless and dry. The staff have that heir of can't be bothered and that customers intefere with their pretty little existence. The venue itself is quite charming but that's where the fairytale ends.

I was brought here for lunch, and I found it really disappointing - and I was surprised that there was no 'set lunch' option. I had the crab salad starter, which was bland and a bit stingy with the crab. At about 12.95 it was way overpriced. The spinach salad, at about 14.95 was also a lot to pay for spinach, lardons, a few pine nuts and about 3 halved cherry tomatoes. This was topped with a rock hard, practically cold poached egg. Not very enjoyable. So just my two mediocre courses totalled over €25 euro - and you can get a three course Michelin starred lunch for that price!!! Having said that, the service was good, and the place was busy. I won't be going back.

A bit dissapointing !!! They have a good menu, but all the food we ordered was luke warm, which drives me crazy,I had a tasty soup to start, followed by lamb chops, portion size was good but the presentation of the food could of been better and if you like veg its probably best to order a side portion as our dishes seemed to be lacking in greenery. Desert was good as was the coffee, our waitress was friendly and efficient and the bathrooms were nice, I would go back but im in no hurry to do so.

Had lunch here on Tuesday, friend had really wanted to try it out, we hadn't booked, so just called in. Amazingly from the first person to let us in the door - to the waitress who took our order - to the 2nd waitress who served us and the last person to take payment - not one single smile from anybody. No welcoming feeling at all. Terrible shame, because the restaurant itself is nice and bright and airy eventhough tables could be described as small and poky too. The food was delicious and we left a big tip because of that - although we really felt like leaving nothing because of the floor staff....I hope the chefs get a share of the tips!

I love this place! the food is consistently good and well priced. The staff couldn't be nicer -- on a very busy Friday evening they sorted out a table and came over to O'Briens across the road to tell us it was ready! The chicken wings are worth the trip alone -- the roast duckling was perfectly cooked and delicious

Myself and my friend went here for lunch, we are both in the culinary business. On arrival, the girl asked us to take a pokey corner seat despite the place being pretty empty. We asked why we could not have a window seat and she said it was reserved, but she did let us sit in a roomier setting. Andrew ordered the steak sandwich and I ordered the chicken burger. We were told the steak sandwich would be 15 minutes. In the meantime the other guy working there is telling new arrivals they can sit anywhere including the 'reserved' seats. The food arrives and Andrews steak is not edible, it is like it was defrosted quickly and then cooked from half frozen. My chicken tasted okay, but the plate was bursting with unnesscary garnishes, (like they were trying to use everything up in the kitchen) pickled onions which were flavourless, pickles and tomato slices. The tomato garnish was not cut fresh, in fact I would say it could have been sitting for up to two days and looked as if it was on the verge of going off. Andrew complained about the steak and then two minutes later when I saw the state of the tomato I called the waiter back over, and said that even though the chicken was alright the state of the tomato on my plate was not very encouraging, so we declined his offer to change our dishes and left, to be fair they did not charge us, but we wont be back!

Contemporary bistro. Pleasant staff and good food - though the fish special was in a bit too much oil. The mezze plate was delicious and the omelette, very good. The room itself could have been warmer and it was a bit disappointing that we should be placed right next to another couple when slightly greater privacy could have been given us.

Went here with my boyfriend and we shared the Chicken wings and they were so yummy, I had a disappointing omlette that was probably the worst I have ever had my boyfirend had a beef burger that was way too rare and they forgot a portion of chips. I would highly recommend the chicken wings are they were to die for. If went again would get the chicken wings and then one of the other starters for a main.

couldnt agree more with the reviewer just below. although the food is good, i wont be returning as the floor staff are awful. they were extremely blase, rude and just enjoying each others company. ignoring the customers like they were a nuisance to be put up with. the maitre d, tried to sit us a a horrible dark window seat, clearly to make the place look full but we declined. they tried the same trick with the customers after us, then tutted as soon as those people declined it too. WE CAN SEE YOU! felt very unwelcome. the staff ate their dinner beside us in the main restaurant. quite unproffessional.

I and my 3 flatmates live in the same street as Canal Bank Cafe. We go there regularly, mostly on Sundays as my flatmates work in restaurants (experts) The food is lovely. The atmosphere was quite cold (Sunday evening mood for the staff) but overall ok. Except for a barman who has been cold and never smiles anytime we go. We had 3 courses and 2 bottles of wine and decided not to leave tips as the barman was really rude and was trying to kick us out to close (it was 10.30 pm) The bill came in with service charge included. I asked from how many people did they include service, the waiter asked the barman to answer to this question (strange) he said from 5 people. We paid and went out to see the outside menu was pointing out it included service from 6 people. I went back in and asked for an explanation, the barman was embarrassed and said it had changed and they needed to update the menu outside. It's been now 4 days I'm passing by everyday and the menu outside is still the same. It's a pity to neglect customer service as they do !!

I visited the Canal Bank Cafe with a big group to celebrate my wife's birthday. It is basically the same menu as Tribeca in Ranelagh, where we have eaten many times, but the atmosphere is a little more up-market. The chicken wings (starter) and burgers with fries seem to be signature dishes and are all great. The portions are pretty big. So no-one will leave hungry. I would describe this place and good quality cheap eats and very good for get-togethers.

Nice place to come for hangovers. Service was so so but they were super busy. I had a chicken blt which was pretty good and yum shoestring chips. They were of a pretty high standard but I wouldnt be in a major rush to come back. there are places which are far superior for brunch and gastropub food.

Went for lunch here with a friend, it was our first time here, we've been dying to try it for a while now and the food did not disappoint expecially the chicken wings, we got a half portion and even that was a struggle to finish!!! we had the steak sandwich and a chicken club sandwich to share, both were lovely except the waitress asked how i'd like my steak cooked and I said medium and it was cooked well done so was a very dry. The chicken club was full of flavour tho. Both came with skinny fries which were very nice. The portions were very big which made up for the lack of service our table had. Will happily go back for the food but not much else!!

Nice cosy, relaxed atmosphere. Staff were very friendly. Table of 6 so we had a few different things on th menu including burgers, steak sandwich, fish stew, chicken. No-one disapponted and the portion sizes were very good and all meals cooked as requested. Chicken wings are highly recommended and enough for one, not to bother with a main. Dessert menu has good choice. A little more pricey (mains from 15 - 24 approx) than your average lunch venue but nice place, plenty of choice, good portions and friendly staff, will definitely return.

I ate here with my boyfriend on a Sunday afternoon. The service was very good, but there were not many in the place. I had the club sandwich, which was great and it came with wedges also. My boyfriend had the chicken wings, which he loved! They come in huge portions though so you can't really order anything else with them which is a pity.

We did set out to try another establishment but when we got there it was very full and they had no tables for us........us being my lovely girlfriend and moi! So we headed around to the Canal Bank Cafe where I have eaten before for brekky and really enjoyed that so kinda knew what we were getting into. Upon arrival the place was busy but with plenty of tables available we were shown to a table down a small flight of stairs. I have to say I do like the layout of this place and can be very nice when you get a table by any of the windows but unfortunately these were already occupied. As it was also a chilly evening I did notice straight away that the heating was on and that made it very comfy. We proceeded to order a beer for me and we also ordered a bottle of malbec wine which was very nice. Food.....we ordered a starter between us which consisited of pitta breads, hummus, chickpeas in little pots and salad leafs and olives in the centre. When it arrived it was well set out and was very tasty. I ordered the chicken wings and my lovely other half ordered a breast of chicken that came out on a plate with veg and potatoes. The buffalo wings are good value and tasty. Now the only thing is this and its become a bugbear with me....what is the story with eateries now charging over €7-50 for a dessert????? Not on and all places should reveiw this as when I see the price I just dont order. This has crept in recently and have to say not impressed with it. Otherwise we had a lovely time our waitress for the evening was good and even though it did fill up while we were there she seemed to cope well enough. One more thing....while I was waiting on my good lady at the bar part of the joint the girl in charge was giving the waitress a very hard time and she was the only one not dressed up for the part i.e. wearing jeans and a top which really didnt add to the whole experience and really should be adressed. The total bill came to €71-45. Value wise it was okish but enjoyable.

Four of us ate here after work. The place has a nice atmosphere and it was busy on a Tuesday night. There are different seating areas even though it's not a large place. The waiter was very friendly and helpfull when taking our order. I enjoyed the warm goats cheese salad with a side of asparagus. My friends enjoyed their burgers

Rudest waitress we have met in a long time. Arrived 11:15 to empty restaurant to be told curtly breakfast menu only served for next 15 minutes by a very rude waitress. Breakfast came with a hair on one of the plates and 3 cups of the weakest tasteless coffee we have had in a long time. When we sent the plate with the hair on it back to a waiter, the waitress who had initially served us laughed. It appeared that the eggs that were returned were scraped off one plate back onto another one. Will not return here.

Food is great, service can be hit and miss depending on when you go in. Sunday's have a really nice warm family vibe. Specials are great but try the chicken wings! Good value too...

Had a latelunch here the other day so the place so fairly empty. I had the club sandwich with matchstick. The sambo was gorgeous and came with a small amount of curry mayo, which I didn't think I'd like but it was very good. My boyfriend had the omlette special, with goats cheese and spinach. No chips with it though so he shared mine. His brother had the plain burger. He said it was very good and came with lots of chips. €40 in total, which is so so.

I had lunch here with my Family for my Mothers Birthday. It was a very busy day because it was the same day as the Women's Mini Marathon. We started off with two starters between six of us which were delicious which were Chicken Wings. I had Pasta for my main coarse and finished off by sharing a Chocolate Brownie and an Espresso. Overall, it was fantastic but it was quite expensive. However, in saying that there was six of us and we all had starters, mains and desserts plus wine. I would go back there again and would not hesitate in recommending it to others.........

I eat here quite often and took my sister here for brunch as a treat the other week. To be met by a rude server was very off putting. This immediately created a bad impression. When we entered, there were lots of tables free but when we asked if we could sit at the top we were informed all the tables were reserved. I spoke to a much nicer and friendlier happier guy, who appeared to be the Manager and was offered one of these tables, which we were very happy about. The brunch menu isn't really extensive; there are the usual Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine but no mention of French Toast, Pancakes with Berries, the choice is a bit disapponting. Having said that I was really pleased with my Eggs Florentine, the portions were huge, plus it came with chopped, roasted potatoes with herbs, very moorish. All in all a lovely brunch, food was lovely, the 80's music was great to listen to. Good value for money.

I've been here a couple of times with people from work. There's a nice relaxed atmosphere in the place and service is quick enough to come here on your lunch break - although it can take a bit longer if you order the burgers (but they are worth the wait). The staff can be a little snooty which is a bit strange since the dining is very causal but all in all the service is pretty good. The prices aren't too bad but they could do with introducing a lunch time specail deal given the current economic climate.

The Canal Bank is a great place for dinner, great atmosphere, food, friendly staff, most mains are under 20 euros so not too expensive. Its the same menu at lunch though with the same prices, so alittle expensive if you just want something quick and nice to eat!

I can't say I agree with some of the comments below on the food being overpriced. We went here on a Saturday night for dinner and found the food quite reasonable. The majority of mains were under €20 which included sides. The food was to a very high standard and our waiter couldn't have been friendlier. The wine list was also good value and had a nice choice. The restaurant was full and there was a great atmosphere throughout with a nice mix of people.

Unbelievably pricey for what it is. Unless you pay extra for rude staff!! Popped in here for breakfast on a sunday morning. We were told that only breakfast was available. Strangely there was no breakfast prices on the menu, you had to walk around the corner to see the prices and boy they were some prices. Cooked breakfast was Euro 10.95. Eggs benedict came in at about Euro16 We were tight for time so I ordered the breakfast. To be fair the breakfast was good. My partner ordered a coffee. When it arrived I asked was a hot drink included in the breakfast. I was told it was and ordered a cappucino. When we got the bill I discovered that we were charged for 2 cappucinos. I pointed out that one of these was included in the breakfast. I was promptly corrected by the waitress who said that the coffee was extra. When I mentioned that I was told otherwise by one of her staff I was ordered to point him out, because he had been mistaken!! In the end I paid the bill and left. In short a breakfast with coffee comes to Euro 13.45. You could get lunch in pretty much any restaurant in Dublin for this.

A nice place with a great buzz, atmosphere and decor. Went there for an evening meal on Friday. Got the Chicken wings as starter which were lovely but far far too many for one (or even two) people and we weren't warned by the staff. I could barely eat my main course! Very few other complaints though. Would go again.

I really like the Canal Bank. If I want to go somewhere to relax, have a laugh and enjoy a buzzy atmosphere this is where I go. Casual and friendly service, good wings, eggs benedict, bloody mary's and decent burgers. No fuss just genuinely smiley waiters and waitresses. No pressure to give the table back and a well priced menu with good specials, some expensive and inexpensive options to keep everyone happy. A good meeting point to launch a long day out or night on the town.

Love it, its my all-rounder - great for lunch, dinner and sunday brunch. Chicken wings goes without saying and the meatloaf was really yum. Had the omlette on a previous visit which was really great. Possibly seems pricey for fairly basic staples but they've always got a really nice twist. Great for dinner with the girls!

I work close to this restaurant. It's a nice place and the food has always been good. However, today my colleague and I had lunch and were pretty surprised at the poor service. It took ages to order. We weren't informed that french fries did not come with the omelette (pretty stingy considering omelettes start at EUR13), so I was still hungry at the end of the meal. It also took ages for our bill to arrive. I didn't think the staff were very pleasant or efficient (it wasn't particularly busy), despite some other favourable reviews. The place is also very over-priced. Club sandwiches cost EUR15. Won't be going back in a hurry.

This is my favourite Restaurant in Dublin/Ireland. Great food, great value and the nicest bunch of staff anywhere (most of them are there since it opened). O'Briens pub across the road is my favourite Pub so you could say i have it all going on in this hood! Tables near the door on the left can be a bit draughty but this is where Brian o'driscoll likes to sit so they're not always that bad!

This is a great little neighbourhood restaurant. I have been visiting regularly for lunch. Though a warning is to book if you want a table. It is very popular. The menu is wide and varied, reasonably priced and very well executed. There are additional blackboard brunch items on a sunday. It is relaxed, with decent service, and good value prices. I have been happy with any food I have ordered here, and it has a very NY Greenwich Village atmosphere. Am happy to return any time.

I went to the Canal Bank on Saturday for dinner with friends - the menu is very limited. Chicken wings are a great starter to share, but mains left a lot to be desired. Not overly priced, but could do a lot more with the place. Staff seemed disinterested, but service was quick. Would go back for a second chance!

Ate here Friday night, the place was vibrant but not too loud like its sister Tribecca tends to be. Yes the chicken wings were again the highlight, not bad cosmos either, a little more alcohol perhaps. Had the Special burger, the portions were quiet big, couldn't finish it all. The service was great for a friday night and a full house, will be back soon.

The chicken wings really are A1 here and being honest, they are the reason I go! Although its been a while since I've had them, the portion seems to have seriously diminished in size (price is €12.95, so it should be a huge portion by rights) and when you are sharing them, you can get quite possessive!! The burgers are also excellent with the homemade chips, good relish and side salad. I've also had fish and chips here before and they are good too. Very accommodating with kids and price for excellent size pesto pasta €7.95 and one scoop of ice cream with sauce was €2 which I was pleasantly surprised with. Staff were really good too.

Was here for lunch yesterday and the restaurant is small but well decorated. The menu choice especially for lunch is big and varied the only disadvantage is that all the tables are too near each other so you have no real privacy and the service was a bit slow but that won't stop me returning here in the future

Visited this restaurant for a business meeting lunch. Very efficient service and lovely table provided at the window. Excellent menu reasonably priced. Had Fish & Chips which were very good, large portion, guest had chicken wings which were apparently a signature dish of the restaurant and they were plentiful and tasty. Dessert was a big chocolate and icecream sundae which again was v. good. Would recommend and would be happy to revisit.

Tried this place for the second time. Had a lovely meatloaf main course and chicken wings to start, as good as I've had them anywhere else. My sister tried their Ceasar salad which was boring, no tomato, no bacon, little dressing. She gave it back and was not charged. Service was good and atmospere was perfect.

I had dinner here with a friend recently and I thought the food was ok, nice but not amazing. The staff were very friendly throughout but I thought they let themselves down at the end of the night - at around midnight they dropped down the bill to us without us having asked for it. I was annoyed by this, we were just finishing off the last of our wine and were about to head off anyway. I looked around and they had given bills to the other tables as well. Personally I think its a really bad way for them to end the night for their customers.

Unfortunately I recommended that a small group of us eat here for my friend's birthday. From the get go, we were made feel that we were a nuisance..especially when I rang 10mins before we arrived to ask them to place an extra seat at our table! While the chicken wings are indeed to die for, some of our mains were less than appealing. I sent my Duck back and got offered a "couple of cocktails" in lieu, if I paid for the main course. I said yes, and 1 cocktail to the value of €9-10 was taken off the bill. The manager was really quite rude about it all. Having eaten lunch here before and really enjoying it, I was really disappointed and embarrassed that I had recommended such a place.

I have eaten here several times due to the fact that I used to live in the apartments across the road and I really miss it since I've moved. The food is fantastic and pretty good value. The service is top notch if not just a little slow at lunch times. The atmosphere is really chilled out and when having brunch you really are tempted to stay there all day reading the paper! highly recommended.

Cana bank cafe is a nice restaurant with good atmosphere. To start we had the Buffalo chicken wings between two. There was more than enough for both of us and they were absolutely delicious. Great value for money. I had the duck breast with sausage and sweet potato mash, again portion size was generous. This was very tasty, however the duck was a bit fatty and the stuffing was nice, but a little dry. My companion had the lamb which was also tasty but a little overcooked - it was asked to be cooked medium but was more well done! Wine was lovely and very reasonably priced. All in all it was a good dining experience, with pleasent efficent service. I would definitely go back, for the chicken wings alone!!!

Wouldnt eat here again. Myself and friend had mussles for main and both pots had mussles that were not fit for eating, which then put us off the rest of our food. There was no apology and the staff never checked to see was everything ok, just refilling of our water glasses.

Enjoyed a pleasant Sunday brunch here. They are open from 11am on Sundays, but the full menu is not available until 12noon or so. There is a small brunch menu on the blackboard available from 11am, misleadingly marked "Specials", since this is the FULL brunch menu, not the specials. I had the full Irish breakfast which was very good, and the toast was actually properly brown toasted, not the pale "warm bread" served in a lot of hotels and B&Bs.

I've only ever had lunch in here but have always been impressed. The food is really good, beautifully presented, good sized portions and very tasty. The service can be a little slow for a work lunch, but I would definitely recommend it!

I love this café and always order the chicken wings, they get a bit addictive after a while. I would recommend you order a portion between two and then a side of fries to go with them. The burgers are also delicious as is the Caesar salad. The service can be a bit slow, especially during busy periods so I would only go if I don't have to be somewhere in an hour. It's quite expensive but I think it's well worth it.

On my last visit to Canal Bank I found the service a bit slow even though it wasn't that busy. Our food did not come for about 40 minutes. I had the calamari which was very tasty and a side of medium cut fries which they had forgotten about, but they were very yummy when i did finally get them. My friend ordered wings which i tasted and thought were way overrated. Overall I enjoyed my meal and spent 15 euro which wasn't bad...the service could do with improvement though.

Oh my god the chicken wings here are just amazing. The rest of the food was really nothing to write home about but my mouth waters just writing about those wings (this is coming from a person who normally would order wings as the last starter on the menu too). I had the chocolate pot as dessert which was a bit hard (so much so that I was afraid of breaking the glass to eat the chocolate). Nice place for a group to eat, service was very good (attentive but not in your face), atmosphere is good and those wings, did I mention the wings?

This is a very well laid out comfortable casual dining restaurant with a very friendly atmosphere, all the staff are obviously well trained and managed. The food was well cooked and presentation was excellent, the timing of the service was really first class. It still has Dublin prices but unlike so many restaurants I didn't feel ripped off because the quality of the whole dining experience was so good.I will certainly be back again.

Lovely and cosy atmosphere. Chicken wings are very good, they do need to be shared. I found I was a bit stuck for what to order after my boyfriend was having the rib-eye steak, so I ordered the Italian style meatloaf out of curiosity- which was fine, but the steak was very good. A fine restaurant/cafe if you live in the area, but it's a bit isolated otherwise.

This is a lovely little restaurant. I ordered the Calamari for starter which was nice, it wasn't rubbery as Calamari often is. Another memebr of my party ordered the chicken wings which are absolutely delicious. The next time I go I will order them. For main I ordered the meat loaf which was nice. My food wasn't exquisite but perhaps I just made bad choices. Everyone else was pleased and everyones food look delicious. I would return to this restaurant.

My friend and her boyfriend have raved about this place for months, and come here at least once a week, so last week I just had to see what all the fuss was about! I wasnt disappointed - the food is really tasty (especially the famous chicken wings!) with huge portions, the place has a real buzz about it, and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The whole experience was just really relaxing (and fun) from start to finish, and we werent rushed out of our seats once we were finished our (fabulous) desserts! I will definitely be coming again.

I regularly frequent Canal Bank Cafe and I find it to be a pleasant, affordable and enjoyable dining experience. Sometimes the dishes can be a little inconsistent in the way they are served but are more often delicious than not. The portions are always large, especially the desserts and are very good value for money, as is the wine list. The atmosphere is warm but I sometimes feel that the waitresses tend to be a little abrupt and at times no where to be seen. Overall I would rate the Canal Bank in my favourite restaurants and recommend it without hesitation.

Not overly impressed with this restaurant although I had heard great things and read great reviews about it. The restaurant is beautiful and cosy and in a great location but I thought the food was average and so did a number of my fellow diners. I always look forward to a cheeseboard at the end of dinner but was very disappointed. Choice of 3 cheeses and although you got heaps of each I would prefer a larger selection with smaller quantities and some fruit. Fellow diners had the fish cakes and found these too strong and overcooked, also burgers were very dry and not flavoursome enough. overall didn't think we'd got value for money on the day.

The food here was lovely and the setting nice. The service to start was very good. However there was a shift switch while we were eating and the service after was just desperate! I had to try for ages to get someone's attention to take our plates away and again to get the bill. Don't think I'll be back.

I loved the Canal Bank Cafe. I went with a group of ten people and we all enjoyed the food. I had the recommended chicken wings. Mmmhhhhhhhh. As a main i picked the meatloaf it it was a really good choice. If the service would have been a bit better it would be in my top list. Conclusion food great, service has to be much better.

After failing to get a seat in one of our usual haunts, my girlfriend and I opted to try The Canal Bank Cafe. Unfortunately it did not live up to the standard we expected. The Calamari started was excellent but that's where it ended. I ordered a medium burger which was dry and cooked to a cinder and served with frozen chips. My girlfriend had a Thai seafood curry, it had a decent portion of fish but the curry was watery and flavourless. Overall, a real disappointment.

I found this restaurant somewhat disappointing and it seems to be a little bit of pot luck as to the quality of the food . I had the Thai Chicken soup to start which was great but the battered fish & chips was terrible. It was tasteless and definitely didn't taste fresh. Specials were all sold out, which I know is a good sign, but couldn't they have told us this before we ordered!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. If you're looking for memorable food, then this is definitely the place to go. I ordered battered squid for starters and meatloaf for dinner which may sound average but my god was it tasty. It was quite possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever tasted. You have to go.

Went here recently with two friends for a post-work dinner. The chicken wings are superb and a must-have for every visit. Good selection of food. A friend ordered a steak cooked 'medium' and it came clearly medium/well. He was reluctant to return it, but we convinced him to do so. The waitress agreed with him straight awy once she saw the inside of the steak and replaced it without hassle for one cooked to perfection. The manager also came over to apologise for the error. A refreshing change from the attitude in many other restaurants.

Despite some of the reviews below, I find the staff to be very helpful and friendly. My only criticism is that on occasion there's not enough staff to cover a full house. Food quality is fantastic, prices very reasonable

It's a place to go for Chicken Wings or a Caesar salad with a few work mates on a Thursday/Friday. Staff are friendly and it's reasonably priced. Grand.

The place is one of the few places in Dublin, which has good food and a good atmosphere without trying to be fancy at any cost. This means that it is elegant, but not vulgar. The dishes are rich, especially the chicken wings and the meatloaf, in my opinion is a very nice place for a dinner during the week of Sundays.

Always a 40-50 minute delay during lunch and I find the staff rather unwilling to offer any more of their time after they have taken your order. If you have a long lunch the food is worth the wait.

We visited Canal Bank in the last few days for dinner and I would have no problem advising friends to visit. The food is always good however the staff can be quite rude at times which is disapointing as we are regular visitors, also please please put blinds in the toilets !

Had dinner there with a couple of friends a few days ago and I have to say I had a fantastic dining experience. The food was gorgeous; the staff were really helpful and accommodating. Definitely will come back on a second occasion. In my opinion this place is amongst the best food hot spots of Dublin.

I went here with a few friends and the cafe had a great atmosphere and quite an extensive menu which looked great. The staff however is what really let this place down, quite unfriendly and unaccommodating. Despite great food and prices, bad service is always the one thing that ruins my evening. I hate nothing more then trying to get a waiters attention for bout 15mins just for a jug of water, especially so when a place is not overly busy at the time!

The food quality is very good & the menu is quite intriguing and extensive, exactly what I like in a good restaurant. Unfortunately I found that one or two of the staff weren’t quite accommodating in a fairly empty restaurant, otherwise no complaints.

Would definitely recommend for lunch. I went with a colleague, mid-week. When we arrived the place was empty but filled up nicely fairly quickly. I thought the service was very efficient. The food was delicious - I had the sole special with grilled asparagus and sautéed new potatoes - the fish and trimmings were perfectly cooked. My colleague had pasta with pancetta courgette & parmesan and cleared her plate. We were ordered a dessert each (cheesecake and choc fudge sundae). They were both very good but really could have shared one, as they were VERY indulgent! The one disappointing dish was a side of buttered spinach, which was a bit sludgy! One girl in the restaurant went out to the pub across the road to get a pint of plain to accompany her meal - which is handy for the non-wine drinkers among us. I haven’t tried CBC for dinner but I was very impressed by this lunch.

The biggest draw back with this place are the staff. We had 3 different waiters looking after us, all of whom were useless. We were left for 40 minutes (after meal was finished) before offered a dessert menu, ordered a dessert and none came. The only place everywhere I didn't leave a cent tip... speaks for itself. Chicken wings were very tasty however the rest of the meal was mediocre.

Living across the road from this place, I've been there only twice - that says a lot about how mixed my feelings are! I went once with a friend, it was admittedly busy, but the waiter was inexcusably rude. He spoke about three sentences to us the whole time, one of which was telling me that I hadn't, in fact, ordered garlic potatoes - which I had. I went back recently with my boyfriend, and it was better, but not great. I'm not hugely impressed by the menu (in particular, the waitress's staunch inability to provide me with a suggestion for a sauce other than béarnaise to go with my steak, which arrived overcooked as well), as it's fairly unadventurous for the price. My boyfriend fared better, as his blue steak was undercooked to perfection. Side orders are absolutely enormous, and the chicken wings are second to none. I suspect that it'd be great for a midweek lunch or Sunday brunch - and I intend to go back and see if I'm right!

I ate here last week, was a bit worried about a 7.30 booking on a Wednesday night in January that we would be the only people there but there was a very nice atmosphere and the place was busy. Had a lovely, enjoyable meal, gorgeous house white wine, the wings were delicious and there were lots of specials to choose from - we both ended up ordering from the specials menu and the dishes were lovely and plentiful. Nice reasonable cocktail menu too so we had a cocktail for desert. Nice place, good value and choice - would recommend.

The food is enough to make me return, however the staff need to smarten up a bit. They are very slow and know very little about the specials apart from reading them from the board. However the food is excellent and they have a pretty good wine list also. Great location and always busy.

I love going to Canal Bank as you can't get much better value for money in the whole of Dublin. They have a nice variety on the menu and it's always delicious (have you tried the chicken wings? addictive!!) and served in a lovely atmosphere. One thing I would say that the terrine of Foie Gras is more terrine than Foie Gras, in fact I'm not sure why the name Foie Gras is on it.

My friend and I visited the Canal Bank Cafe recently and left with very mixed feelings. The food is second to none, but it's hard to say if it's enough to make up for the slowest service I've ever experienced. We opted for mains and desserts and skipped starters. Our booking was for 9.15, and at 10.30 we still had no food. The bar also "lost" our wine order? We had window seats - which I requested, but the draft off them was so cold, we had our coats on for half our meal. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the food is absolutely excellent. Hard to know if I'd go back or not.

My partner and I eat at the Canal Bank Cafe regularly as this is one of our favourite restaurants in Dublin. The quality of the food is great and the staff are lovely. You'll find the usual suspects like steak or fish & chips, but they are also great at providing some quirky dishes on the menu and the specials are always interesting. I have eaten here many times and I have never been disappointed.
