3.5 Shangri-la Malaysian Chinese Restaurant 3.5 star review:
One of the best Asian take aways in this area. The beef rendang is superb. Their roti tantamount to crack bread and their salt and chilli chicken wonderfully hot. They will, if asked, add freshly chopped chillies and fresh garlic to the chicken and sweetcorn soup - something worth trying.
I have eaten from Shangri-La regularly for seven years and I keep coming back.
Though small, the restaurant isn't bad for sitting down for a lunch or dinner either.

My partner and I regularly order from Shangri-La. The food is delicious and the delivery time is VERY fast! We were passing by one night and decided to dine in for a change. The service was excellent, and their value options are also great. We had three courses and a bottle of wine for under €50. We continue to order from here regularly, and will probably go back to the restaurant again as well. The atmosphere was a little lacking, but it was a Wednesday night!

I often walk past this restaurant but on this day I had stopped in here for a quick bite.. I had the lemon chicken with rice, my friend had a dish of spicy mussels/veg and noodles. This was by far the best lemon chicken I had had in a long time. I also tasted the mussels, they were very nicely cooked and the sauce was tasty. The waiter was very friendly and polite. The restaurant itself could do with a fresh lick of paint and I really hope they get rid of those fibre optic multi coloured light things they have attached to the ceiling, they are a little outdated. Overall the food was absolutely delicious and I will definately be back!

We called in here on a Sunday for something quick to eat. They have a set menu for Chinese and Malaysian food. Even though we were in a hurry and wouldn't have time to have 3 courses plus tea/coffee we went for the set menu.
I had spring rolls followed by chicken red curry both of which were very good. My husband had tom yum and beef rendang which he said were delicious.
We told the waiter when we sat down that we were in a rush and they served the starters and the mains at once.
Great food, fantastic prices and excellent service. I think I'll go back again at some stage and try something else.

When we moved into Smithfield, we looked around for a good Chinese take-away and we didn't expect to hit on a Malaysian Chinese restaurant that does take-away. My partner is a Chinese from Malaysia and for this, its always a real bonus.
Wow, the food is always good - we are never disappointed with the food there. Even my partner is impressed with most dishes he got, especially the mee mamak which he really loves.
Their chicken balls are GORGEOUS and my favourite side dish there is chilli & pepper squid (I would go to heaven just for them!)
I usually order Chicken/Beef Nyonya from them - I always love it but the problem is it is never the same - sometimes its nicer, sometimes its not bad, sometimes, its SO GOOD - it depends on who the chef is.
Delivery people are good - apart from this girl who won't give us change - for some reasons, she is unwilling to return even a small amount of change, assuming that we would automatically tip her! :o
We will recommend SL to anyone in Dublin :-) even our friends from London were quite impressed.

5.0 Shangri-la Malaysian Chinese Restaurant 5.0 star review:
We indulged in the early bird malaysian menu for €16.90 per person - 4 courses instead of the €14.90 chinese early menu.
We chose the chicken/sweetcorn and tom yum soup, both were delightful examples of the usual oriental soups, for stater we had won tons and satay chicken skewers, very nice, pineapple served with skewers was a great combination,
For main we had mee mamak (malaysian noodles) and mai thai duck and boild rice with a sweet chili sauce.
All in all the food was great, the service was very polite and attentive (very well handled as the restuarant was not very busy)
Would certainly recommend and use again, High quality and value

4.0 Shangri-la Malaysian Chinese Restaurant 4.0 star review:
I have used this takeaway several times and each time, I have to say that the food was excellent. I've ordered the spare ribs regularly and they always rate high. The house special fried rice has me pretty spoiled now - decent prawns and good meat. (Though a few more prawns would be nice)
I tend to get the same things every time while my partner chooses differently per meal. Neither of us have any problem recommending this as a takeawy. The decor of the restaurant is a bit predictable dull and not so inviting, however.

I've lived in the area for years now and this is the best chinese around. I normally take away, as the restaurant is pretty quiet. Their delivery is always fast and friendly and have been really accomodating in the past if we have forgotten to order something etc. A good option if you're keeping it local

4.5 Shangri-la Malaysian Chinese Restaurant 4.5 star review:
Really love this place. First went a few weeks ago and discovered their 14.99 4 course meal (anything from the menu) which was fab. Today I also had 4 course (early bird is 16.90 now) . chicken and sweetcorn soup, chicken satay skewers, Masak Merah Salmon fillet, and coffee (i was offered ice cream but was just too full). All absolutely delicious - and I even had coconut rice. The best thing about this place is the service - you won't get better in Dublin. Atmosphere is fine - its a small place in Stoneybatter with fibre optics in the ceiling and the music could do with updating! Only thing I'd say is that the intrusion from people off the street getting take out isn't always brief or quiet.

1.0 Shangri-la Malaysian Chinese Restaurant 1.0 star review:
My girlfriend and I were looking forward to our chinese meal this evening but we were so disappointed. The food we were served could be the worst chinese food I have eaten. we both had ribs to start. and they were very poor. The bbq sauce was globby and the honey sauce was tasteless. I had the chicken masak merah. It was awful. A lump of chicken covered in some tasteless red stuff. Awful. Awful. My girlfriend got beef with broccoli. It tasted microwaved. We have eaten here before and it was good. Never again.
