I had the special which was beef. The mash potato was hard and cold, the meat was chewy and everything tasted bad generally, i.e. soapy. I wouldn't recommend this place. I can´t score it high on value since there´s no point in eating cheap if it´s inedible. The service wasn´t too bad, nice young girl who served us but everything else was bad.

I ate here with three very good friends of mine and we all really enjoyed our afternoon. The service which was provided by an extremely pleasant young lady was top notch. Any deviations or special requests were facilitated without a problem. For starters I had a generous sized portion of beautiful homemade garlic mushrooms. My companions decided to skip starters and all ordered the roast lamb which was so tender and tasty. I chose a burger and chips which I really enjoyed. For desert three of us had jelly and ice cream which was fab. The fourth member opted for a latte. The food here is very nice indeed and is very well presented. We sat in a window seat overlooking the harbour which added even more to our enjoyment as despite the weather being inclement outside we were lovely and warm inside. The pier house is roomy and bright inside. The atmosphere was good with a couple of families dining there too. It is in a lovely location. I would recommend a visit here and I will be returning very soon.

We went for the early bird. The decor wasn't up to much and another couple were on top of us. It felt like a double date! We both requested a medium-rare steaks. Mine came out med-well, and my wife's was well done. We only sent her one back so we had to eat our mains separately. It was perfect the second time and the rest of the meal was very tasty. The early bird was very good value, so we will probably go again.

The girlfriend and myself decided to go to the pierhouse for dinner last night. I had the Prawn cocktail to start which was fantastic. very fresh prawns. The girlfriend had the Brie. She couldnt say enough good about it. I went for the Rack of Lamb and i must say the portion was huge and was cooked with a nice breadcrumb type thing on the outside. the sauce was lovely and the mash was grand. She went for the chicken with salmon and looked fantastic. the staff were very friendly and were quick with the drinks orders. i think the setting is also very nice for a romantic meal for 2. the bar is nice for a post meal drink aswell. cant actually fault it

myself and my wife stayed in this hotel a few months back just to get away for a night the price caught our eye so we booked it. we were delighted with the place. the food was top class and the portions were excellent not to mention the service. i gathered a group of us to go back last weekend as i recieved an email from them advertising an early bird menu so we said we would check it out. once again we were no let down. the menu has a wide range to suit every one and i go as far to say the price is unbeatable. once again the service and quality of the food was top class. i would highly recommend a weekend away there either with your partner of a group of friends its a great spot rooms are spotless food is 100% the niteclub is a brillant laugh. its defo value for money

First time here. Food was great value, quality was ok. We had garlic mushrooms to start, they were a little over cooked and very greasy. We had fish and chips for mains. Fish was lovely, chips were standard frozen variety. Service was a bit slow but it was a busy Sunday evening. Overall I would give it another visit.

I stayed here a few weeks ago for my 4th time or something. we got a lovely room and then strolled downstairs for dinner that evening. the food is lovely and especially for the good price of it, you dont expect it to be so good. lovely little restaurant, nice and cosy. i would reccomend this to couples or groups going down for a night or two, its a nice relaxed atmosphere.

We love this place. The fish and chips is always a real winner. The fish is usually hanging off either side of the plate! Service is extremely friendly and efficient. We often call in on a Sunday morning for a coffee and scone. Beautifully presented, cream and jam on the side. Fire lighting in winter. Generally quiet enough c. 11 am so perfect to sit and read the papers. Great view too. The restaurant does a very good value early bird, and again the floor staff are excellent. Sometimes, if we're the only people in the restaurant it can be a little off putting. But all in all, never had a bad experience here. Good, old fashioned bar food.

Had a family meal here last month. Food & service were excellent but the a la carte is a bit pricey. Went back for early bird which was very good and quite reasonable.

Visited the pier house for my 2nd time a couple of wks ago. Whilst my 1rst visit had been enjoyable my 2nd was a bit of a let down. We opted for the early bird and the starter of garlic mushrooms was lovely but I found the steak very tough and dry. All in all it was good value for money but I felt the staff werent too concerned about my comments on the steak, felt you didnt get the same service when you opted for the early bird.

Great place for a bite to eat - had the scampi which was really good - light batter and sweet juicy prawns - came with a generous helping of chips and some really good homemade coleslaw. They have some really good deals for early birds and a brilliant concept on deals for families - well done on that. Not for a romantic dinner for two but great for nice meal or dinner out with kids.

Visited Carrolls Pierhouse on Friday for the first time and made it on time for the early bird. Great value for money: you get a starter, a main, dessert and tea/coffee for just under €20,00. The location is gorgeous: get a table by the window and you can admire the sea while enjoying your food. My boyfriend had mackarel pate for starters (delicious) and I had garlic mushrooms, which were ok but nothing to write home about. Our mains were salmon and haddock with plenty of side vegetables. The best part of the meal, though, was pudding: apple tart and ruhbarb and strawberry crumble - to die for! Defintely worth the drive.

Have been here for an early bit of pub grub. We shared chicken wings first - they were delicious. Then I had carbonara. Couldn't eat more than 1 bite because it was far too creamy and heavy. My bf had fish and chips though which he loved. Nice relaxing atmosphere for a drink but I don't think i'll be back

We had been regular visitors to Carrolls and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. However, went back recently and experienced the new menu with increased prices and smaller portions. Really disappointed in the quality of the food as well. Overall, agree that it has really gone downhill.

Good value for an early grub in Skerries with the early bird menu (Tues - Sat 5pm - 7pm, Sun 6:30pm - 10pm) : €16.95, bottle of wine offered for 2 (or if you don't drink you get 2 desserts free). Early Bird Menu changes every 2nd night. We had menu A, Baked Mussels is very nice and tasty but I was only served 8 mussels, a bit light for a starter... Then I had the Pan Fried Duo of Fish: avoid, plain dull dish, I would advise to go for the Grilled Medallion of Pork or the Mixed Seafood Broth. Apparently a 10% service charge applies to groupd over 10 but is not mentioned anywhere: menus, website. Desserts aren't homemade but are yummy! Suggestions: slightly bigger portions for starters, homemade desserts and clear display of service charges.

I was in Skerries on Sunday evening, April 20, with some English friends. We decided to try the Pierhouse. It was excellent. Three of us had fish, 2 had Cod and 1 had Trout and the fouth had Chicken. the Early Bird Menu was fantastic value. The portions provided were huge (each one would have easily done 2 people) We all said that it was the best meal that we had in ages. The staff were very friendly. The delay between the starter and main course was a little long but the waiter apologised for this as so many people arrived at the same time. The restaurant was fairly full, which is a good sign on a Sunday night. The bill was 120 Euro, which included a bottle of white wine and a round of drinks in the bar. Best value in a long time.

Visited the bar for lunch with some friends and family recently. The service was quite good and the place itself comfortable and accommodating, but the food really quite ordinary. An example would be the mash, which was of a poor quality - how any kitchen these days cannot crack a decent mash beats me. The homemade burger was presented extremely plainly, cold buns, dull salad, no relish. Overall, not very inspiring - did not seem the work of a chef who had much pride in his work.

I’ve eaten in most of the food establishments in Skerries for a number of years with much distain, however when the chance arises to dine at the Pierhouse I plan my meal well in advance as not to embarrass my self by drooling on my menu. The new menu is fantastic and well presented by the knowledgeable staff at hand; thankfully the Carroll’s have brought a touch of class to Skerries.

Myself and my wife eat here regularly and we love it. The food is always excellent and everything cooked fresh (leads to some delays but worth the wait always). The staff are so friendly and are always smiling. New a la carte menu is excellent with some lovely dishes. Overall a great spot.
