The two of us found ourselves in Malahide last Sunday night and stumbled on this little place by accident. Two courses for €20 or three for €24 figured it was worth climbing the curved stairs to have a look. The menu while not huge gives lots of choice. I had prawns for started while my Wife had the bruchetta, followed by Fish and chips for me and chicken for my wife. The food was well presented and the staff all friendly and very attentive. The restaraunt itself is small and was quiet enough when we where in but it was a Sunday night so that's to be expected. The food was all of good quality and we both had 2 courses and a bottle of wine to share and in and out for €55, which for the quality of the food was great value i felt. I would recomend it if you wanted a nice quiet night out with good food thats not costing you the earth.

A belated celebration for my son's 10th birthday. We were greeted in the usual friendly fashion and given a choice of tables. The early bird of 2 starters & 2 mains with 30% off any bottle of wine applied to the adults and the boys ordered from the a la carte. Prawns, duck spring rolls, warm chicken salad and mushrooms to start - all excellent. Minute steak, hake wrapped in parma ham, cod with a crab crusting and penned with prawns, s/dried toms and rocket - all excellent (possibly a few too many s/dried toms). A bottle of Barolo and soft drinks for the boys. Eton mess with mixed berries and a chocolate brownie with pecans - yum, yum! Birthday muffin with candle and Happy Birthday music and full applause from a then full restaurant finished off the evening on a high :-) €130 - v reasonable for 4 adult meals with wine and soft drinks. Fave restaurant.

A real find! We very much enjoyed a last minute early bird on a Sunday evening and were not disappointed. Both atmosphere and service were flawless, the lighting in the restaurant is lovely and intimate. The menu offers excellent variety and the specials are very tempting - I enjoyed the tiger prawns with salmon in lemon and white wine sauce - delicious! From start to finish myself and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely return soon.

I dined out in the restaurant last night with two girl friends. We had the a la carte menu. We enjoyed the food, two brocheta, one brie, for starters, two fillet steaks cooked to order and one cod dish for mains and two of us had dessert one strawberries and icecream and a selections of ice creams. We thoroughly enjoyed our night the food and service were excellent. Would not be enamoured with the selection of white and brown sliced bread served.

Went here last night with my husband and it was so disappointing. We knew the place was a bit pricey so we decided to go for the early bird. First we were brought some bread. 3 triangles of bread between the 2 of us. I mean, thats less then a slice of bread between two people. Then the starters came out. My husband got just one spring roll on a few lettuce leaves. Tiny portions, but in fairness to the chef very tasty. We both had the fish which again was very tasty but with very few chips. But we could have overcome this if the overall experience was good. It was not. We were seated close to the service area and we could hear the poor staff being ordered around. They were running like headless chickens. They never once smiled at each other or at us. It was uncomfortable to say the least. We will not be going back.

Lovely place but pity that it's not more accessible (stairs only) & bigger. The service was prompt, reliable and even though it was a busy saturday night the staff were calm and helpful. The food was delicious and there was a good selection of drinks too. They didn't have the drink i wanted but again the space is quite small to have a full bar. I'd recomend this place for couples as I found it very intimate and romantic. For starter I had the filo goats cheese with chili jam, it was lovely but actually I thought the portion was a bit big. For main I had the pecan crumb chicken with cider sauce (on the specials menu). The chicken was superb but the cider sauce lacked a kick. My partner had the fillet steak and I was lucky to get a taste of this as it was so delicious he didn't even want to give me a bit. Really recomment this place but it's slightly pricey for just a standard night out - save it for a specal occasion maybe.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Dublin let alone Malahide. Small and quanit and totally reliable you know exactly what you're getting. Located right in the heart of Malahide the food and service are exceptional in relation to the size of the bill. Staff are always jolly and personable and happy to advise. They amend the bill ensuring you get the best possible combination of offers and therefore pay the smallest amount necessary. The menu is small yet thorough and the specials are always fantastic! The rib eye steak is one of the best in terms of value anywhere and to my surprise the chicken marsala is to die for. For the prices at Sale & pepe you really can't go wrong!

I have been coming here for years and I am always met with a very warm welcome on arrival. The service is both pleasant and efficient. The food is always excellent. Their specials board contains different dishes on each visit. This evening I chose a chicken samosa from the specials board. My companion opted for a soup starter. We both a burger for mains which was perfectly cooked. They came with a portion of beautiful home made chips. On the night we visited the restaurant was practically full and the atmosphere was electric. Centrally located in Malahide village this eatery is well worth a visit you wont be disappointed.

Decided to try out the early bird as the menu is really good value and who wouldn't like half price wine. Have eaten there quite a few times over the years but not recently. The 2 kids went for the kids menu.. One big issue I have is the portion size...the portions are really small and nobody likes leaving a restaurant feeling hungry.........atmosphere is lovely and staff pleasant...........but please don't skimp on portion sizes just because its the early bird................

Having just moved to Malahide we celebrated with a meal here last tuesday night. The menu outside attracted us because Sunday to Thursday there is 50% off all wines. The resturant is well laid out and it was half full. The menu is not huge but i like that. The waitress was very attentive and knowlegable as i am a Colieac. The food both gluten free and non (as my girlfriend is not colieac) was fantastic. My gf has voted it her no 1 in Ireland and we have eaten around!! The price is very reasonable and 50% off a good wine goes a long way.

We had the early bird menu which was outstanding value. Bottle of wine was E15. I had the duck spring roll for a starter which was a little disappointing, but everything else was without fault. In these times it was a wonderful experience and we will be back.

I've been here a few times now and it's always very good. It wasn't as busy as I expected for a Saturday evening, but there was still a nice atmosphere. Service was as usualy excellent and the food was also excellent. Brought some friends who hadn't been before and they were very impressed with staff and variety on the menu. They said they'll be going back again (as will I).

I came here for dinner with a friend. We came for the early bird which was good value. They also offer early bird wine which is a great idea and the wine was beautiful. I had bruschetta to start which was delicious. the mozzerella was beautiful. I ordered the burger and handcut fries for my mains and whilst the burger itself tasted gorgeous i was confused that the sauce was on the plate and not either on the burger or in a side dish. half the burger was in the sauce so the bottom part of the but was so soggy and covered in sauce I ended up taking it off and eating the rest with a knife and fork. Was quite confused by this. The service was excellent, so polite and helpful and the final bill was very modest. Would definitely return

Had my Birthday dinner here on a sunday evening and liked everything from the food, the wine, the cosy atmosphere and the helpful staff - would definitely recommend for a couple or small group looking for an intimate meal in Malahide village.Plenty of pubs on the same street to choose from for a pre or post dinner drink too!

Five of us had dinner in Sal e Pepe's lastnight. My starter was Lemon Sole and it was hard and overcooked, frankly I would have done better in the local chipper. For the main course I had Cajun Chicken which was really bland and done in a creamy sauce. The waitress told me that they don't do real cajun chicken because it was too hot for the clientelle but offered a spicier cajun sauce from the kitchen. She returned with exactly the same sauce but this time with chopped up red chillis including seeds. Overall, everybody was disappointed. My friend's steak was very dry, another friend's chicken marsala was also very bland. Including wine, we spent over 250 euro for a meal that was incredibly disappointing.

Visited Sale e Pepe last Friday night for the first time in ten years and I was very glad we did. We had soup and Caesar salad to start, both were very very tasty. For mains we had steak and cajun chicken, steak was cooked perfectly and the mustard mash was delicious. I had Creme Brulee for dessert, it was the perfect end to a wonderful meal. The service was just right, perfectly attentive but not over bearing. Dining room is smaller than others I have been in but it feels cosy rather than cramped. Will be back!

There was nothing wrong with this restaurant other than the surly attitude of the three waiting staff who appeared to have their minds on other things and adopted a very mechanical approach to service. The place lacked the freindly attentive atmosphere that establishments like this thrive on. Unfortunately we shall not be returning

Love, love, love this little gem of a restaurant. There were 6 of us in the group - out for my sister's birthday - and every single one of us left with a big satisfied grin on our faces. The food was fantastic - I had the melon for starters and the tuna for mains. The tuna was cooked to perfection - medium/rare - and the accompanying vegetables were delicious. Others had the steak which they enjoyed too. Didn't get a dessert but did try a scoop of my sister's chocolate moose with pistachios which was to die for! The service was excellent - prompt and discreet. We will all be back.

A mixed affair! Dined here last night with my wife. Whilst the place was fairly quiet, the atmosphere was helped by a balmy summer evening in Malahide. Firstly, the service throughout was excellent - prompt, courteous and friendly. The food, however, was a mixed affair. I had the buffalo mozzarella salad followed by rib eye steak and creme brulee. The quality of the mozzarella was not particularly good but was redeemed somewhat by the accompanying flavoursome pesto, rocket and tomato. The steak appeared to offer good value at €23. The portion size was generous, however the quality was poor - overcooked, tough and sinewy. Maybe I drew the short straw since my wife raved about her fishcake starter and sea bass main!! Creme brulee to finish was excellent, and the half price wine deal represented good value. Would be inclined to return in the hope of greater consistency next time.

I live in Malahide and love Sale Pepe. The atmosphere is fantastic and the staff are always friendly. I had the special, seabass and sweet potato chips, just enough, as there was two small fillets and three chunky chips on the plate,so I felt the €24 was a bit much. I finished with a cheese board which was beautiful.

6 of us visited for my daughters birthday. Nice friendly atmosphere. We had 3 ceasar salads for starters. Very nice (would have liked more) one of the specials (fish) and the prawns. Prawn portion could have been a little larger. I chose the chicken in masala and mushroom (with chips instead of rice) , just my sort of thing. 2 had the different steaks on offer and really enjoyed, 1 had the creamy pasta (but found it a little heavy, but nice anyway). There was one childs meatballs with spagetti and 1 pasta with prawns. Unfortunately this was the birthday girls meal and it let the side down badly. It has no taste whatsoever. (same went for pasta with childs meatballs). When I mentioned this to waitress there were apologies and no problem taking them off the bill. We finished off meal with 2 French coffees, a regular coffee, cheese board, icecream(lovely). Then they brought ice cream with a candle for the Birthday girl and played Happy Birthday. A really enjoyable night.

myself and my wife recently visited sale e pepe as a treat and from the moment of our arrival were not disappointed. itis such a pleasure to be met by friendly staff who are happily going about their job. service was attentive but without being intrusive and if anything was needed there was always someone to be seen to be keeping an eye on the tables which is refreshing as we have dined in some restauranrs were once you get your mae the staff seem to disappear till its time to give you the bill.the food was excelent and we were never made to feel in a rush to vacate the table even with the place bussling and tables turning over steadily.there was a great atmosphere with a goob mix of large and small groups, and would gladly recommend it for any occasion.

Yum, Yum and Yum... I have been looking forward to going here for a while and it didn't disappoint. A party of 5, wine for a 50% discount, simple tasty food and a choice of specials... we had a very enjoyable meal. Friends of mine had the specials of prawn starters and a monkfish mains and loved it. Another had the tried and tested Blossom, very nice. I and another had the chicken Tikka to start and I thought it was a wonderful combination of flavours and I had the rib-eye steak for mains. The only complaint, (for which I took off half a point) was that I asked for it to be done medium well and it was a bit too pink for my liking... no odds, I still ate most of it and really enjoyed the mash and side of chunky chips I had with it. We didn't have dessert but I will definitely be back to try some sweets!!! (Oh, and the wine was very nice too!)

My favourite Italian restaurant hands down. This is a lovely place where the service is excellent. The bread they provide is lovely, the carbonara is to die for, and their deserts are a little too nice. Can't keep me away from this restaurant.

Must admit I think this is an absolute gem of a restaurant, and my favourite in Malahide - great cosy atmosphere, superb food and extremely reasonable. Ate here for my girlfriends birthday with her sister and partner. Overall, with two bottles of wine (gorgeous) and 2 two courses and 2 three courses, 2 coffees and two ports, it came to €200 (including €30 tip). This is so reasonable and the host/hostess, waitresses are so friendly and welcoming, could have stayed there all night! Highly recommend.

First time at this restaurant and don't know why I didn't visit sooner.. Really enjoyed it. Small but cosy, great food and friendly and helpful staff. Only thing was I thought that they had 2 steaks on their menu plus a burger dish, then on their specials, another steak special.. Thought a bit too much red meat.. Another chicken, lamb, stir fry dish would have been better but overall loved it and will go back again

Visited this restaurant on a busy saturday night. We had booked a table for four. It's small but well layed out and you dont feel cramped in the restaurant. The service was quite good attentive without being over zealous. The maitre'd seemed to have a handle on things and was very professional. The food was very good I had a fishcake starter which was wonderful. I followed with a steak which was cooked the way I ordered it medium rare. I also had the mustard mash which I heartily recommend. My wife had the tiger prawns for starters and she loved them and she had the blossom for the main course, I had never heard of this fish but it is very similiar to cod and with cod stocks running short! I had a very tasty house red also, overall I would recommend this restaurant as a steady provider, for me there was no wow factor but average value but comfortable experience.

This was my first visit to Sale e Pepe and it certainly will not be my last. As soon as myself and my wife walked in you new instantly that it was going to be an enjoyable experience. The Maitre D was extremely friendly, courteous and professional. The atmosphere and ambiance were excellent and the waitress who served us was as friendly and professional as the Maitre D. I had the Clonakilty pudding starter which was fantastic and my wife had a skewered chicken tikka which was extremely succulent and tasty. For our main course I had the Rib eye steak on a bed of mustard mash which I would recommend to anyone and my wife had the Cajun chicken which was probably the most tasty dish I have ever tasted. We had an Australian Chardonnay which was good. They have an offer from Mon-Thurs-Any bottle of wine at half price. The meal in total was €77 including the wine which was excellent value considering the standard of food we ate. All in all a great night was had and I will definitely be back again. Go and pay it a visit!!

This was our first time eating at SALE e PEPE. I called on Friday evening and was able to grab a reservation for 9.30. The restaurant is rather small so be sure to book ahead. The restaurant is very intimate, but the table layout is well planned, ensuring good privacy even if the next table is close to you. Well done on layout. We moved to Malahide a few months ago and I think that this is our new favourite restaurant in the village. We skipped starters but the bread on the table was a great substitute. Very nice. I greatly enjoyed the Bratwurst which was served atop a bed of mustard-flavored mashed potatoes. The Bratwurst was really well done, which I was more than happy with, but perhaps this might have been a bit too much for some. My wife ordered the Blossom – described to us as a cod-like fish (fair enough) which was crusted with a thin layer of crab meat. My wife, the real foody, was ecstatic with pleasure and started on a five minute conversation about how this was such a delightful meal – much better than the food at some Michelin starred restaurants we had enjoyed. Service was friendly and relaxed. Not much formalism which is perfect given the small size of the place and homely interiors. I was looking forward to the toffee pudding but they were out so we decided to share a strawberry meringue. It was the next best thing on the menu but proved to be a disappointment. The strawberries were bitter and the presentation left one in little hurry to eat – the merengue was simple broken up, with strawberries and cream placed on top. We did not eat more than a quarter of it but were still very happy because of the quality of the main course. We were pleasantly shocked that our served wanted to know if everything was OK -we expressed some disappointment. Amazingly, when the bill arrived she noted that the desert was not charged for. This is unusual for a Dublin restaurant and we were very grateful. Great cooked food and great service when something goes wrong. With a

Our first visit was last night. Food was better than expected - all courses were of an excellent quality; the highlight being the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Service was impeccable. Decor left a little to be desired - feels a confused (possibly designed by a committee).

I love this place, every time I go with my girlfriend or friends were always greeted with a warm smile. Service is always prompt, food hot & tastie. Never once had a fault here. If the owner 'Joe' is there ask for him to help pick a nice wine with your meal as he knows what he's talking about.

We have been dining at SALE e PEPE for almost 10 years. Four of us dined again last evening. The meal was wonderful. Three of us had the Dublin Bay Prawns in garlic to start and they were amazing. Followed by 2 Rib-eyes, the Jane Russell bratwurst and the Pork Belly. The steaks were excellent, perfectly cooked to our specifications. The bratwurst was delicious and the Pork Belly was the best I have ever had. Dessert continued to exceed our expectations with 3 of us having the Sticky Toffee Pudding (fantastic) and 1 having the Eaton Mess (yum). There is a great atmosphere in the restaurant. Very friendly and efficient staff. A really nice touch was a complimentary after dinner drink. A very classy place to enjoy excellent food and wine. SALE e PEPE remains a true favourite for us and our recommendation is to visit often.

We are regular diners at this gem of a restaurant. The staff are so friendly not just to regulars like ourselves but to newcomers also. The food never fails to please. We enjoyed the prawns, smoked sea bass and had a delicious rib eye steak so succulent and the linguine for main courses. The ice cream selection is yum! Fantastic wine list and also a complimentary apres dinner drink. Got everything good that you need for an enjoyable night out.

Went to Sale e Pepe Friday night through recommendation from a friend and wasn't disappointed. My wife had the prawns to start and I had the smoked seabass and they were both delicious, for main course I had the duck and my wife had the blossom, once again we weren't disappointed, we both shared a chocolate brownie for desert and if u are a chocolate lover this is the dish for you. To sum up the evening the food was delicious and the staff were both friendly and efficient I will definitely be coming back and would recommend sale pepe to anyone.

This was my second trip to Sale e Pepe and I think its gone very much downhill in the last few years. I was eating with a group of six others and we all agreed that the starters were lovely overall. The mains were quite lacking. I had their special of pan fried ray wing. Realistically I've had better ray from a chipper. One of the other diners had fillet steak which was undercooked and sinewy. He mentioned this to the waitress and she took it off the bill and was quite apologetic. The dessert was nice enough but nothing special - Strawberry Eaton Mess, which is essentially strawberries cut up in a glass with crushed meringue and cream. Given the overall prices of the food at Sale e Pepe it fell below what I would have expected. Only two out of the seven of us said that they really enjoyed their food. Everyone else's was either ok or not great.

This is my favourite restaurant in Malahide. The food is always top notch, we always try the specials and we have yet to be disappointed. The service is great and the atmosphere is relaxed. We are always offered a complimentary drink at the end of our meal, a very nice touch! Well worth a visit.

A lovely little restaurant, with a buzzing atmosphere at the weekends. The staff are lovely bar maybe one member I've encountered and the food is excellent. They have a specials menu which changes regularly and is a must try! The wine list is nicely varied to suit the different flavours on the menu and the prices are reasonable for the quality of food on the specials menu. Definitely one to try!

Went to Sale E Pepe again last night and really enjoyed it. I had fabulous prawns in a lemony sauce with Salad followed by some lovely cod. You can't hope for much when you arrive in late on a Sunday night, but our food was fabulous and the welcome was warm. Will keep going!

Went to Sale e Pepe last Saturday night. I just love this restaurant. The staff can't do enough to please. The food is hearty, not fancy but filling and delicious. The owner is a lovely friendly man and always greets myself and my wife like old friends. I will continue returning to Sale e Pepe regularly. It's not just about the food, it's about the experience, the friendly atmosphere, the feeling that you are going to be fussed over. I really would recommend this place. Once you go once, you will return again and again and again.

Visited Sale Pepe in May and thought it was lovely. Starter was Thai Chicken Salad and it was delicious. It’s a bit overpriced, and is quite a small restaurant, but has a nice cosy and romantic atmosphere for couples and families. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

This was not my first time to Sale e Pepe but it was my most vivid memory of the restaurant. My boyfriend and I arrived there on a Sunday for dinner with no reservations. They were good enough to provide with a table. The wait staff were very obliging and polite. The food was served in reasonable time and was delicious. There was a great atmosphere in the place as the place was packed. And although I was stuck under the air-conditioning, the staff were aware of this and made sure that I didn't freeze to death. The only down side was that due to it being so busy the place was crammed and I felt like I was sitting on another couple's lap. All in all would definately recommend this as a place to eat - maybe an early dinner.

Had a lovely meal and the food was very good. My only comment would be that even though the service was good, it was very quick. On being asked to be there at 8.25 for an 8.30 booking as they were expecting a large group at 9.pm, we were totally finished our meal inc starters at 9.20pm! I like to unwind on a Friday evening after work but didn't feel relaxed.

We were a regular to this restaurant as we found the food to be very good. We would look forward to going every Wednesday night but were quite shocked at the rudeness of one of the staff when we were told that they were booked out and they could not fit us in. This is understandable but it was the tone and the unhelpfulness that shocked and embarrassed us. There was no suggestion of recommending another restaurant in the village, which we have found other politer restaurant staff doing we were just turned away. As a regular we felt hard done by and will not be returning. Pity!

My Girlfriend brought me to S & P for my birthday on May 3rd, this is a small restaurant, but they make good use of mirrors to create space. The meal overall was average. The menu is very limited. The one good point is, they do not rub in the prices on the wine list. My G.F. starter (bruschetta) was very poor. I ordered a fillet steak, thankfully I have my own teeth. Looking at other dishes going to the patrons, the food is standard fare. There our better restaurants in Malahide to choose from. I personally will not be returning.

I used to always go here but hadn't been for a while and after my last visit I won't be going back! The waiting staff completely forgot about our starters and when they realised their mistake they didn't even apologise. To add insult to injury the Maitre D didn't even offer us a drink on the house to compensate even though the table behind us got one! I was disgusted, if you're thinking about going here, don't waste your money, small portions, overpriced and pretentious staff!

I dine in this restaurant regularly with a few friends. From the first time we visited we were made to feel like regulars and now whenever we go for a meal in Malahide, Sale E Pepe is where we dine. It has very friendly staff, great atmosphere and excellent good value food. While there is not a huge menu to choose from what is on offer is excellent. Would highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Malahide.

Had a reasonable meal there recently. The chicken starter salad was nice, the main course - chicken with parma ham was ok. There wasn't much to choose from on the menu - just pasta, then 3 other main course dishes and a few specials. Found it a little pricey as well, but not too bad a place.
