Had a lovely meal here. Got the biggest and hottest bowl of soup I've had for a long time. The other starters were generous in size also. Decided to order the seabream which was nicely served with asparagus tips. All the deserts on the menu sounded delicious. Chose the walnut and blackcurrant tart, Would definitely have this again. The restaurant had a nice ambience with lovely views over the sea. Service was very efficient.

We visited here on a staff Christmas lunch. The food and service was excellent and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The setting of the restaurant is nice and a lot of the tables look out onto the sea.

Have eaten here several times recently - food is quite good but unless you go for the 'early bird', it's a bit pricey (and we were disappointed when we went a while ago and missed the early bird by 5 minutes and weren't allowed avail of it) Like a lot of hotel restaurants, it can lack atmosphere Nice views over the estuary/bay House wine very nice Staff friendly and efficient The walk from the main lobby to the restaurant is quite convoluted

I visited this restaurant with some colleagues who were staying in the hotel and was really pleasantly surprised. Though it was early in the week and the restaurant was quiet enough, the atmosphere was quite nice. However, they could do with some draft exclusion, we found it a bit drafty and chilly. Food didn't disappoint. The salad starter I had was really good while my colleagues commented on how nice the chowder was. We all had steak mains - really good quality beef cooked as requested for everyone. I've gone back again since and recommended it to others. Don't know of anywhere else in Malahide to get a steak as nice as this. Service is really pleasant and all in all I've enjoyed it and will look forward to going back.

Just been to Coast Restaurant for birthday meal. Live locally so decided to try Coast because of roads. Asked for warm table with view. There was a drafty coolness because we were in direct line with the entrance. The leek & potato soup was dreadful, very packety taste, could not eat it. The pork was not hot enough and the polenta was only warm. The meat balls were very pink in the middle. The hake was only ok. The family did not want to fuss because of birthday. It really was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. The only saving grace was nice staff except that they accidentally added €100 to the bill. Never again.

Had lunch here on Friday. Lovely setting with beautiful views over the estuary. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I had the salmon which was very tasty. Good size portions if a little on the large side. All in all a pleasant experience and I would certainly go again

Visited here on Sunday for lunch as we had a lovely experience previously. The only menu on offer however was the Christmas Set lunch menu. The problem was that it was like a throwback to the early 1990's. Complete with 4 slices of Starfruit as a garnish on a hot meal. I just DON'T get this. Food was boring and very mediocre. Staff however and service was as I would expect. Good. M real problem however came when I asked for the bill. I was charged €7 for a 650ml bottle of Ballygowan! I'm still in shock! I asked the maitre d' to check if this was correct. He stated "Yes". I retorted that it was outrageous. This makes Ballygowan more expensive than petrol! To the management of the Grand Hotel. YOU ARE RIPPING OFF CUSTOMERS. There were 3 tables in the restaurant that I would imagine seated about 80 guests. One wonders why so quiet??!! COP YOURSELVES ON. I will NEVER return.... I'd rather drink petrol!

We booked a table for 6oclock to avail of the early bird kids eat free (main meal). Which looked like a good offer. The service was awful. On arrival we waited, were not greeted for a good 4 minutes, We were not offered drinks first(4star dont forget). All we did was wait for everything and call for service. We waited on the menu. We waited to order, We waited for drinks. We waited for our dessert, I eventually got up from table and found a manager to request our desserts. We asked 3 times for bill. We told the manager at the time that we would never be back. My steak was lovely. Kids did not eat their food, We requested burger without cheese but instead I had to scrape cheese off. The chunky chips were undercooked, hard inside. The french fries were chunky chips. Very dissapponting, it was cheaper than eating with kids in other restaurants in Malahide. shame.

I had dinner here last night with a group of colleagues. The service was very freindly and unobtrusive. the choice on the menu was limited (I'm not sure if that was because there was 8 of us) and the food when it arrived was ok. I had a 1970's meal of melon for starter and steak for main followed by cheesecake for dessert. I hadn't eaten here before and on this evidence I wouldn't be rushing back but wouldn't discount the place either.

Great atmosphere and service. The staff is very attentive as you would expect at a nice hotel in a great location. It has a nice view to the Malahide Estuary as well. The food is good not great. I would recommend this place if you are in for an expensive night out.

Had a large(23 people)family lunch here one Saturday in August for my Mum's 70th. I would really recommend it. Food really excellent and staff very attentive and helpful. The setting is really lovely with a great view of the marina/sound. We liked it so much we are having another family get together there again very soon !!!

I had Dinner here last night with a friend. We were there at 8.45.pm. There were about 16 oother Diners in the Restaurant. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was very good. We both had a trio of melon for starters which was very nice and beautifully presented. For my mains I had breast of Duck aND my friend had the fillet steak. Both were cooked to perfection and most enjoyable. We both passed on desserts even though the sounded very appealing but we were quite satisfied with what we had. It was just a pity that there were not more people there as the Restaurant is quite big so it was totally lacking in atmosphere.

I visited here with a friend on a Thursday. I had the cesar salad to start which was probably one of the nicest I've ever tasted. Then I had ravioli for my main course which was fab. The views are amazing but the prices are quite high

We ate in The Coast restaurant last night and were very disappointed. One of the starters didn't come until the rest of us had finished - and we'd waited a good while before starting. Three of us had ordered the 9oz fillet cooked medium and they were all well done. The staff never asked if we wanted side orders with the main course and they all arrived out with nothing else on the plate. We then ordered sides but they never came. They overcharged by 48 euro on the bill which they apologised for, but there was a problem with their till so they couldn't refund it back onto the credit card and it's not customary to issue cash refunds when you've paid by card. So we had to go back down today when their system was up and running. We also had to chase up a drinks order several times, probably what led to the over billing. The views are amazing from the restaurant, but the whole feel is very clinical and too bright. I don't think I'd want to go back again.

I ate here recently at an event and absolutly fell in love with the view! The food was really good, which surprised me for a hotel in a place like Malahide, the service was fantastic too. I would come back.

Super location and that’s about it. We were seated next to a bunch of screaming kids when there were plenty of other tables available. Found the food to be fairly overpriced and nothing special for what you pay for it. Plenty of other restaurants in Malahide that can do a better job for less money.

Was not one bit impressed! For a Hotel, which boasts one of the best reputations in the area, I was less than satisfied! Menu was not inspiring, food was sub-standard and overpriced. The staff were too busy and the food took ages to arrive (I thought they had gone to pick the potatoes themselves, for the mediocre mash! Much nicer places to eat in!

A mediocre restaurant. My two dining experiences in this place were exactly the same. The menu seems diverse, and the food looks well when it arrives. However the taste is somewhat disappointing. The duck was a big let down, and on my second sitting I tried the steak, which was overdone and very chewy. If a restaurant cannot get a simple order like steak right then it has serious problems. The service was mixed; the manger/host was extra friendly and courteous. On the other hand the foreign waiter spilled the red wine all over the table while pouring and did not attempt to make an apology. A plus about this restaurant is its view over the sea.

Hotel restaurants are not somewhere I regularly choose to eat unless I'm actually a patron. In this case, I made an exception as my partner & I are scouting for a wedding venue with this hotel one of the hot favourites. Lovely views were punctuated with generally cordial staff, fast service and a particularly reasonable early bird menu for three/four courses, so the outlook was positive. However, the food turned out to be a pretty changeable experience just as the weather outside did. My starter was a deep fried brie, which unfortunately hadn't cooked all the way through leaving me with a heaving chunk of solidified, luke warm cheese. The main course was a disaster; a mustard marinated chicken supreme and a thoroughly unpleasant creamy risotto. The risotto was far too rich and flavourless as a result of the cream and the flavour didn't work with the combination of the mustard chicken. Onto dessert and as with the starter, the warm brownie was only selectively warmed with some areas scalding and others completely frigid. Ice cream was melted by the time it arrived. In conclusion, I found the food to be a fairly miserable experience but my partner fully enjoyed hers so it's swings and roundabouts. I would recommend the place on the fast service, decent portion sizes and reasonable cost but on the food was a bit of a let down for me.

We went to the Colonnade on a Thursday evening and were in time for the 'Early Bird' menu (€54 for two three-course meals, 1 glass of wine and one pot of tea). My food was very tasty (bruschetta was delicious, steak good and lemon tart delicious if a little rich); partner's was not so good. Food was prompt and in generous portions. Service was attentive.
