the vegetarian main course was the best i have ever had. baked potato with gubeen cheese sounds ordinary but is to die for and beautifully presented. my non-veggie dining companions were very satisfied also. this food is michelin-star quality and while a little bit pricey (didn't think my dish was expensive but 23..95 for two courses early bird is not cheap and menu is quite limited) it is well worth it.definitely worth ordering from the a la carte menu. could not fault the service either - well worth a visit!

BEST RESTAURANT IN MALAHIDE BAR NONE!! Love, Love, Love this place. I recommend it to everyone I know and no one has been disappointed, everyone returns regularly. The A La Carte menu is to die for with a great selection and the Early Bird is fantastic and great value. Service very good, all staff are well presented, knowledgeable and friendly. It's only a matter of time before you will have to book weeks in advance to get a table here. If you are a true foodie this is definitely worth a try.

Was invited to eat dinner here with a friend who had a voucher for two for a tasting menu. I started with the pork belly which was tasty but a very small portion. The food is masterchef class and each dish has so many ingredients that you'd need to keep the menu on hand to identify them all. I had the chicken to follow which had a mushroom puree??? on the plate. It was a horrible colour and very offputting but the chicken was nice. Since we were both driving we didn't have any wine and all we had to do was leave a tip at the end of the night. A very cheap night out for me but I won't be in a rush back. The food is too fussy for me.

We were dining at Ciao on a saturday, I booked a table at the window with a voucher. The service was super nice and said its no problem at all. We had a 6 course tasting menu. It was very nice and the portions were absolutly huge, slightley too big. I have to say the mussles were the BEST I ever had! The main and desserts were a bit dissapointing as they were a bit tasteless. But the biggest shocker was that they sold the DUNNES Prosecco (in Dunnes 6,99) for 32,00 EURO!!!!!! Very dissapointing compared to the rest!!! Atmosphere and Service were super tho!

Popped into Ciao with family friends. Lunch was good value at €21.95 for 3 courses. Homemade soup was delicious as was the Seafood Ragu. I had roast beef which was cooked to perfection. The Linguini Pasta was exactly as it should be. A lovely visit. Will return.

I had high expectations for this restaurant after buying the menupages voucher. Its a lot smaller than I expected but it was nice inside and staff were very good. The food was all very nice but the portoin size is just too small. I had the seafood platter and it was very small. I was still hungry after it. It was very tasty though. Overall it was good but not great and I definitely wouldnt have paid €120 for 2 people.

Cannot say enough about my experience at Ciao's last night. I had been a few times in the last few years, always found the atmosphere and service wonderful and the food was always nice but not amazing. Its been a year since my last visit so not sure if there is a new chef but the food was outstanding! We had the 6 course deal we bought on menu pages for only 30 euros!! I had deep fried Goats cheese starter but it came with a goats cheese pear mouse and carmelised walnuts & slices of pear, seriously the presentation & taste was michelin star. Main was a seafood platter with the finest of fish, monkfish, crab claw, prawn etc again looked like a work of art. The house wine is really good and the service was excellent as always! They have the friendliest of staff. Could not recommend this enough, 5 stars from me!

I went there with my boyfriend for a meal. We both got the early bird menu which was amazing value when compared to the a la carte. I had bruschetta to start with and it was refreshing and tasty. My boyfriend had gruyere cheese, which I tried and was my favourite extremely tasty. if I was going back I would definetly have the cheese starter. Words can't describe it. I had the chicken for main which was delicious and my boyfurend had the lamb which he thouroughly enjoyed. The desserts where light and enjoyable. I had the chocolate cake if I remember right and my boyfriend had the cheesecake. Overall it was the best food I had from a restaurant in a long time. You don't get loads on the plate but you get enough to fill you and enjoy it. The presentation is lovely too. Couldnt recommend this place enough!!!!! Would defo go back in a flash.

Went to Ciao on a Sunday evening, Although we booked late, they fitted us in. We had been there on a number of times before, so we knew what to expect. The setting is excellent with some views of Malahide Marina, The staff as always, were attentive, friendly and very efficient. The food was excellent,We all had starters and they were very good. A number of us had the beef, excellent, mouth watering and cooked to our individual tastes as was the duck which our other halves had.!! We finished off with an Irish Coffee, which was very disappointing, unfortunately, one of the poorist Irish Coffee's I've ever had. Irish Coffee's aside, we had a very good meal and a pleasent relaxing evening with good views of the Malahide Marina area. The only draw back of the evening is that we all felt that it was a bit expensive, although the food and service were very good, we feltt that there are a lot more equally good restaurants in the Malahide area who are not as expensive and give better value for money.

We went here for a special occasion and had a lovely dinner. We went for the early bird menu and it was actually pretty quiet. The restaurant overlooks the Malahide marina, which is lovely. A great place to go if you're with your spouse or significant other. I had the sea bream which was lovely. Very good. As with any nicer restaurant the portions weren't as big as a casual dining venue, but very tasty. My husband had the steak and he loved it. The vegetables were steamed nicely, and we had the chocolate gateau cake with vanilla bean ice cream. Great treat - wonderful choice for a nice date or to celebrate a special occasion.

For a family meal out, we chose Ciao, as we had been there before. Sunday has an all day 'early bird' which has a good range of food for each course. The starters were gorgeous, and generous enough portions. I had the gruyere fritters which were beautifully presented. I went for the Lamb Shoulder, which was nice, but not great as it was overdone and very small portions. The vegetables came separately, and my little portion had a good mix but my brother's portion was only one type of veg, parsnip, which he doesn't like. So we all pooled our veg to find carrots, sugarsnap peas and broccali for him. The desserts were exquisite. However we had ordered various coffees with the dessert but they came too late to have with the dessert because there was only 2 staff working in this very busy restaurant. Because Ciao offer the early bird all day, it is quite popular but severely understaffed. In fairness to the staff, they were brilliant and as attentive as they could be considering their workload. The views are gorgeous if you get a window seat, and the overall value is quite good.

We went in a group to celebrate a family occasion on Sunday and have to say we were not disappointed. The setting is lovely and the waiting staff wonderful. The crab canneloni deserves a special mention and no one in the group had any complaints with their food. My only criticism - one of our group did not eat meat and was not offered an alternative to the amuse bouche that everyone else got.

I found the chicken devine with the black pudding topping it off. Then the desserts were lovely. As we were goin id noticed the atmosphere had really picked up.All in all staff, location and food were very good. You can enjoy great views of the Malahide marina, from this restaurant. Bt I am afraid that is the only positive comment I would have for this restaurant. The food portions are tiny, tand the flavors are nothing special, couldn't taste much other than garlic. Really not worth the price! There wasn't much of an athmospear in the place, and staff seem unhappy. Would not recommend.

I had decided to try this restaurant one Saturday night, When my starter had arrived I was shocked at how tiny the portion was for some goats cheese...I got 3 two Euro coin size of goats cheese portions!!!! It did not taste like anything special, Then moving onto the main course I thought that i couldn't go wrong with a seafood platter....but no i was to served a plate with two mussels, small piece of monk fish, 2 prawns and an extremely thin slice of salmon. The inside of the restaurant is lovely though with a nice view of Malahide Estuary, Which is the only good point I can add to this comment, Very disappointed !! Way over priced and over rated

Went here today for a birthday dinner. Had as a starter the pork belly and the goats cheese, for main course the seafood platter and the seabass. OMG it was absolutely fabulous. This could have been a gourmet dinner as fresh and delicious the food was. But also the preparation of the food was very tasteful. We had a bottle of gavi with it. Including dessert and coffee the bill came to 110 Euro, not so cheap but definitely worth it.

The views from this restaurant are fantastic and the resturant is very modern with comfy furiture. The early bird is great value and with a very good selection. House wine at €24 is bit of a let down though. Food and service is excellent and worth a visit.

Unfortunately, we had booked a table for 4 at 9 on a Friday. We got to the restaurant, overlooking a lovely view of the marina, and the place was packed! Though our table was ready very quickly, it took exactly an hour, from point of being seated to getting our starter. The waiter offered to take a round of drinks from the bill, fair play, though I did feel they could have been more attentive even though it was busy. We had to get up to ask a waiter what the story was. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all, especially the trio of duck and the pate to start. The apple crumble was the only thing that was pretty awful. Served in a cocktail dish with jelly and another unknown layer, first it was impossible to get it out of the glass and second, it was sickly sweet. I enjoy a bit of sugar but this was outrageous. All in all, I would love to go back to this restaurant although would be weary due to the slow service. We arrived at 9, we left at 11.40 - for some, an ideal leisurely meal but for us, a bit of an inconvenience. Maybe it was just the weekend rush?

The restaurant itself is in a good location, right out on the coast of Malahide. It has a huge bay window on the second floor which overlooks the sea, so it’s a great setting for any occasion. The food is good, the staff are good, the prices are good, the atmosphere is good and it’s always busy. I have no complaints about Ciao, all round, it is a good place to eat. My favourite eats here are the scallops for entrée, followed by the Lamb Shank, which is really exceptional. The amuse-bouche are normally my favourite course in Ciao. They are always wonderfully creative, so credit to the chefs for coming up with new and exciting tasters all the time! If you’re in Malahide definitely try Ciao, but they are quite popular so try book a table before you go.

Yet again, another fantastic experience at Ciao!! My wife and I went for the 2 course early bird @19.95 pp which is outstanding value considering the early birs runs all night sun-thurs, and you are totally full up after 2 courses here. My wife started with Bruschetta and I with the Gruyere Fritters which were delightful and presented beautifully. For mains she had Pan-fried sea trout and I the vegetarian pasta which is Tagliatelle pasta tossed with peas, fresh spinach, feta cheese and toasted pine kernels - delightful to say the least!! Washed down with a half bottle of their Beaujolais Villages and all for €55. Its a no-brainer. And if you are still not convinced, it undoubtedly has the best views over Malahide Marina out of any other restaurant in Malahide. It is hard to get a window seat but wherever you are sitting, the floor to ceiling windows ensure you enjoy the surroundings no matter where you sit. The staff are so attentive and professional, one cannot ask for more for that price.

Visited with children as part of family ocassion. Atmosphere and staff were excellent, food unfortunately very slow in arriving. This did not detract from the overall experience. I was particularly impressed with the waitress placing three glasses of water in front of my children. She did not ask them if they wanted a drink and it never occurred to them to ask for a soft drink. Well done!

are you boys pushing for a star?! on the recommendation of two of my fellow workers myself and my gf went along to ciao last night..we were in time for the early bird, which has plenty of options and very reasonably priced, but went for a la carte instead..i started with the crab platter, and gf had pork belly and prawn.. excellent presentation, and a hell of a lot of work gone into each dish..next i had the seabass and gf had duck breast special, again excellent presentation, lovely little fondant potatoes on the bass plate with a coriander puree, very fresh tastes, the crab springroll wasnt to heavily curried, and the tomato chutney brought it all together nicely..had the choc mousse and gf the berries with small doughnuts, maybe a couple of more doughnuts but again, excellent. if i were to rate the meal, i would put starter as best, dessert as second best and main as third..the veg on the side didnt really add to the meal, but i reckon thats there to keep a certain amount of clientel happy to have veg..my only quibble is a touch more seasoning, but thats an extremely minor thing, i am a chef by trade and was knocked out by the standard of food, and the service was very friendly, quick and professional. keep it up, youve added two more regulars to your restaurant!

Nice dining room with beautiful views over the marina. Greeted by friendly staff and were not rushed to order. Good selection on menu, i had pate followed by prime beef medallions. Both were very well presented, the portions were quite big and everything was delicious. I thought the guts of 10 euro for a dessert was a bit much, but it too was lovely. Just the right amount of time left between courses, felt neither rushed nor neglected. Would definately recommend here for a special occasion.

Went for the early bird on a Saturday evening. (Before 7pm). Not too full however there were three young adult women who were laughing really loud and one was cackling like an old witch! We could not hear each other speak. They were very noisy! I felt the waitor should have asked them to keep the noise down as the other diners (not just us) found it very irritating judging by the looks on their faces. Apart from that the service was friendly and good. The food was just fantastic. You could have 2 courses or all three courses. Really, really yummy food!

This is my favourite restaurant in Malahide. We have been here twice and both times have been amazing. The atmosphere is warm and the views are stunning! The staff were very friendly and most importantly the food is delicious! It's a tad spendy, but good value for what you are getting and the Early Bird option is good

Absolutely wonderful experience eating at this restaurant. Attended with the family for a meal and as we rarely eat locally weren't sure what to expect. We were all pleasantly suprised. Staff were wonderful and very alert and efficient. The food was great value and very tasty with a very diverse menu that suited all our fussy eaters! The restaurant itself is very chic and tastefully decorated. Will certainly be returning,by far the best restaurant to come to Malahide.

My wife & i collected our friends from the airport and decided to go out for a meal.we arrived at about 7.45pm (we had no reservation) and were seated at a window table overlooking the harbour, lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff.we were given a bowl of olives and complimentary 'taster' from the chef, which was delicious. the food was very well presented and really tasty, suckling pork was exceptional. it turned to be Phil & Louise's anniversary and they both felt the food ,atmosphere and staff made it a very special evening. we will be coming back and bringing friends..

An enjoyable experience overall with just a few niggles. Dined here for the 2nd time last Saturday night - dinner for 2. An unassuming frontage hides a cozy, comfortable and spacious restaurant. We were greeted in a friendly manner and promptly taken to our table. Service throughout the night was effiecient and very polite. The menu read very well but was laid out a little haphazardly. There was perhaps an over-emphasis on seafood starters which limited the choice for this allergic diner, who ultimately settled for a starter portion of tagliatelle with chicken which was tucked away at the foot of the main course menu. The blackboard specials (1 soup, 1 starter, 3 mains) read extremely well and appeared quite adventurous. So pasta for me and trio of crab fer her to start. She raved about the crab whilst my pasta was decent. 2 spacials for main course at a not cheap €24.95 each - turbot with shellfish ragout for her and panfried breast of pheasant with a roast pheasant pie, morel cream sauce, sage fondant potato and autumn vegetables for me. Now both dishes were certainly very adventurous and flavoursome. Again, my wife raved about the turbot. The pheasant dish was ambitious and commendable, but let down by a tough and overcooked breast, and a lack of sauce which made the whole thing very dry. The sage fontant potato had no flavour of sage. The shared cheese plate to finish was generous and excellent. Another niggle would be an uninspiring and very poorly laid out wine list, and a narrow range on wines by the glass. We settled for an NZ pinot noir at €39 (I think) but would have happiliy spent more if afforded the opportunity. The total bill for 2 was around €135. Will I return? Yes. Why? This place is trying hard to deliver good quality, flavoursome and adventurous food at reasonable prices and is very nearly there.

We went there on Wednesday for early bird menu which they serve all night. It was a wonderful experience. Nice décor, cream colour leather armchairs and soft blue light which gives the place a little bit of marine atmosphere. The food was excellent and the price amazing for this fine food. For the starter we had bruschetta and ham salad. I would especially recommend the salad. For the mains we had chicken and vegetarian pasta. My husband loved the chicken while the pasta was just superb. It was served with spinach, baby peas and pine nuts. The taste was just amazing. The deserts were beautifully decorated and served: both chocolate gateau and mango and passion fruit cheesecake. I need to mention that the mains are really big portions and I only ate half of my pasta. The service was nice . Oh, and beautiful views of Malahide marina. Definitely will be coming back!

This is the BEST restaurant in Malahide by a long way. Not only is the food excellent but the service from the young waitresses and waiters is just superb. Very friendly without being too informal. We have eaten here 3 times in the last 4 months and would never go back to the likes of similar restaurants again. This is a top top place and if you are lucky enough to get a sea view in the spring/summer then you really have the WOW factor. In fact Ciao = WOW as far as my wife and I are concerned!!

I was looking for somewhere nice for a special occassion and decided to book here because of the great reviews. We weren't one bit disappointed. The food is fabulous. There's no faulting it. I had scallops with black pudding to start which was amazing and monkfish for a main which was equally good. Prices are very reasonable and I see that they do a fantastically priced earlybird. Definately worth the trip. Will be back again soon!

I was at Ciao restaurant one night last week. The restaurant is bright and airy and very comfortable. On arrival, we were brought a dish of olives with fetta cheese which I enjoyed. The starter and main courses we had were really delicious. When we had ordered dessert we were brought our coffees first (which I know seems a bit petty to be making a point about but generally coffee is brought after dessert ) and we waiting a bit for our desserts which we thought were forgotten about. When they arrived, I thought that 8.95 for what we got was a bit over priced. One other gripe I had was that we paid 3.50 for a 500ml plastic bottle of sparkling Ballygowan water. I agree with one famous food critic who always gives out about restaurants charging over and above for bottled sparkling water!!. Overall we really enjoyed the food and place and would go back again.

Food is excellent, service fantastic. Went here with my friends, it was a table of 8. The evening from start to finish was fantastic. We booked a table for 8pm and we left at 11.30pm. They did not try to rush us. All the courses were gorgeous with the attention to detail being great. Bill worked out at 50 euro each, but that was with 4 bottles of wine and at about 8 bottles of beer. With everyone having 3 courses. Will be back very soon.

I was really impressed with the food and atmosphere in this restaurant today. My partner had their set lunch menu which is amazing value at 20.95. I had two starters from their al la carte which filled me perfectly. The attenton to detail by the kitchen was incredible given the price. I was really impressed and will definitely be going there again soon.

Very nice restaurant. From the minute i walked in i got that calm romantic feeling. Restaurant is located on the second floor with great view over the malahde marine. I really enjoyed watching sun goes down that evening. Menu has good selections of dishes for different tastes cooked to perfection. We even got the dish "with complements" from the chef before the starters arrived. Service was very good. Waiting staff was always there when you needed it. I loved the food in Ciao. That the restaurant i was looking for for a long time. I defenetely go back there, cause i loved it, loved it, loved it. It is spot on place to bring your girlfriend for romantic dinner.

Superb restaurant, great choice on the menu, very friendly and efficient service even though the restaurant was full. Our mains - salmon and vegetarian pasta - were both beautiful, well presented and excellent sized portions. A special mention for the amazing dessert, a cherry samosa with cherry and cassis jelly and ice cream, the taste and presentation were amazing.

Visited here last Saturday and must say I was thoroughly surprised by a very enjoyable meal. I am vegetarian and was more than happy as was my other half who had enough meat between his starter and main course to keep him going until xmas.My only gripe and it is a small is that we were put at a table that should not really have been there as we felt hemmed in.Otherwise I would definately recommend a visit.

I had a nice relaxing experience in Ciao on Friday evening. We got a fantastic centre window table with the best view of the marina. The staff served an amouse bouche and quickly provided a vegetarian alternative for my friend. The ingredients were fresh. I had the mussels and the tomato and crème fraiche sauce was lovely. The vegetarian main course my friend had was inventive and sublime. I would definitely go back. I found this restaurant very reasonably priced. The bottle of Riesling was smooth and a perfect accompaniment to my seafood linguini.

Excellent restaurant and lived up to reviews! Booked a table for 6:30 and availed of the very reasonably priced early bird menu at €25 for three courses. Every course was delicious and presentation was top class. Friendly service and nice view from the window table. Would certainly recommend and hope to go back soon!

Boyfriend chose the place and was quite put off by the sign falling off outside, however this was a perfect example of not judging a book by it's cover. The food was outstanding from start to finish. The service was friendly and very efficient. We were there early to enjoy the summer sun so less than €60 for the meal (three courses) and two drinks was definately more than appreciated in these recessionary times! Would recommend to everyone!

Visited Ciao on Saturday night with my Five sisters. The food is define. The Sirlion steak was ordered by five of us, which was cooked as we asked, one of the nicest steaks i have tasted in a while, came on bed of potatoe with side vegtables. Desserts were pricey at 9.95, but diferrent. Good selection of wine, which also comes by the glass. The service was excellent. Will definately go back soon!

Ate at Ciao the other night and was blown away at how professional the service was, yet still very warm and friendly. The food was delicious and presentation awesome. The chef really take pride in their dishes. The restaurant is a little pricey but so is the rest of dublin. We sat at a window table and had a spectacular view. Highly recommended!!

not imperessed at all. after reading good reviews decided to bring my mother in law for dinner. 3 of us went - 2 adults and 1 child. we did not order starters, only main - it took 50 min to get our main courses. the food was taisty enough, but nothing extra spectacular - I ordred monkfish and my mother in law ordered chicken from the early bird menu. after we were finished with the main course, waiting stuff didn't even think to ask us if we want desert, after 10 minutes I had to ask for desert menu. Deserts on A La Carte menu are all 9.95 euro! the deserts were good, but not that good. And they charged us 3.95 for 2 small scoops of ice cream for my daughter. All in all the service was just dreadful.

We had a table for four at Ciao on Saturday - we had actually booked at the Orangerie but were told on the day that it was closed for refurbishments and our booking was transferred here (its sister restaurant). The food was good, the lamb shank being both sizeable and tasty. The starters were a little skimpy and desserts for €9.95 certainly ignored the fact there's a recession on. My fellow diners also enjoyed their food. The service was above average and the atmosphere was ok - diners were sparse when we arrived at 7.30 and at no point was the place full. The bill was just over €200 with a bottle of wine and some coffees (only one dessert) - for the money I felt it was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Worth a try.

Went here early on Valentines. Almost empty when we arrived but filled up very quickly. Mussel starter was lovely as was ham hock salad. Other half ordered lamb shank but they said it wasn't on but they had shoulder. She ordered that but was then told that wasn't on and it was rump. Wasn't so sure about ordering it but she was delighted with it, I had sirloin and it was tasty. House red was really good. Complimetary kir being the night that was in it. Early bird was excellent value but 3.25 for a regular coffee was a bit steep. Service was excellent.

Went early on Saturday night. Didn't have a booking but no problem getting a table as it was only 6.40 ish. Very pleasant service. My husband had to dash home for a few minutes just after we ordered and there was no problem holding on to the order till he returned. We received a complimentary amuse bouche of a miniature dish of venison and wild mushroom casserole topped with a puff pastry top - this should definitely appear on the main menu soon. All of the food was beautifully presented. My husband had a starter and they thoughtfully provided a second empty plate so that I could share it with him. Ditto the desserts. The mains were lovely - my husband had the suckling pork platter which was fantastic. Slightly less fantastic was my rabbit wrapped in parma ham - just a bit too much salty ham which overpowered the rabbit, although everything elso on the plate was fabulous especially the belly pork. The dessert was expensive at almost €10 but was a vision although we noticed that the almond bavarois had been replaced by a mini cheesecake - this was not pointed out to us. Delicious. Wines are limited and expensive (ours was one of the cheaper ones at €26). Overall a lovely meal in a nice setting. Expensive but worth it for a treat.

Big improvement from before. The food has always been good and the view is arguably the best in Malahide. Now with a smarter interior and a thoughtful wine list this restaurant is now better placed for the full range of dining experiences; since our romantic dinner for two, my partner has returned with work colleagues. Keep up the good work!

went back to ciao recently after reopening... what a stunning success!! i was dining with five colleagues and was anxious to impress. i need not have worried as the food, presentaion, attention to detail was comparable to michilan star standards without the ott prices! The staff were pleasant, accommodating and professional. I loved the seabass starter and the medallion of beef for main course is sublime! well done! will be back!

A group of us booked for a birthday celebration. Food was good with an interesting menu.Presentation is important to them. The crab starter is fab. They allowed us to bring our own birthday cake which they served nicely. There's a strange (and I'd have to say expensive) wine list. Overall this is a good restaurant but certainly not cheap. Enjoy!

Came in here for the first time since the re-opening. They've done a great job of the decor, very stylish and warm with a nice atmosphere and of course the amazing views. The service was friendly and professional. Ordered the soup which was extremely nice and was impressed by the selection of butters to accompany the bread. Went for the halibut special which was expertly done with great flavours and presentation. The desserts were a little more expensive than I expected, but they were really in a class of their own and worth every penny. I went for the strawberry platter which was like a selection of minituare desserts on the plate, that were magnificent. Overall was very impressed with the restaurant and will be back soon. If you are passionate about food and are more adventurous than the usual well done fillet steak, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

A group on us went to ciao tonight for dinner, and what can we say... they only reopened last week after a fire in the summer, and we could not get over the place, from the nice new lighting and seats, to the new menu, ( that we could not fault at all) superb!!!!!!!!! The staff were so friendly and could not do enough for us, i would recomend this resturant to anyone, for a group of people or just a romantic meal, everything was just perfect. so glad there back open

Great ambiance and view of Malahide estuary, service was good, food was in our opinion a little bland and could have had more flavor. Love the idea of the herb olive appetizer that is served with your drinks. Would recommend and we will return.

For a special view ask for a window table. My wife and I paid a visit on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was ideal and the service second to none. Most importantly the food is gorgeous and good value by Malahide standards. A side order of veg was included in the price. No pressure to vacate your table when finished. The staff, especially the hostess, are very friendly and efficient.

Unfortunately, my visit here was the worst dining experience I have ever had. I accompanied a small group for a special occasion. The evening started well as we were shown to a window table. The menu looked appetising. Having placed our orders we waited a short time before our starters arrived, minus two starters. After a few minutes we had to summons the waitress who had not noticed the mistake. The starters finally arrived as the rest of the group were finishing their starters. Unbelievably, the same thing happened with the main course, as two people were left waiting for five minutes after everyone else had received their main courses. This standard of service is unacceptable for any restaurant but totally intolerable considering it was mid-week and the restaurant was not busy. The waitresses seemed more interested in talking to each other than serving us. Regrettably, the food was just as disappointing as the service. My risotto was bland and the pasta dishes looked, and tasted, as though they had been reheated. The consensus among the group was that none of us will ever return to Ciao.

I visited Ciao restaurant this evening with a work colleague that I was hoping to impress. As a business man who travels between the UK and Ireland a lot I am well acquainted with the restaurant circuit both in London and in Dublin and have to say that Ciao really hits the spot. We were served by a very professional young Australian girl who served us with superb charm. The dining room itself is unpretentious if not a little tired looking but the view of the Marina is magnificent. The standard and quality of the food served is superb. And the presentation of the dessert that my colleague had was exquisite. All in all a very enjoyable meal.

Went to this restaurant on a wed night. When you come in the front door there is an off puting smell, this follows through to the restaurant. The menu is not very good, very little Italian food. I asked for the risotto with no garlic which they could not do because it was already made!!! Made me wonder how bad it would taste. As a vegetarian I ended up getting a Caprese salad which is a starter but I had it for main course. It was starter size but at 10.95 it was very over priced. I had the figs for starter which were good just not to my taste, but another person had them and loved them. The Chocolate cake dessert was really really nice but still overpriced at 9.95! All the food was tasty but it was all very overpriced. The staff are friendly but the place lacks any atmosphere. I was turned off the restaurant when I saw the waiter take an unfinished bottle of wine off a table and put it aside for further use!! Then I saw a glass of whie wine in the fridge and wondered if they were using the unfinished bottles of wine if you asked for a glass of wine?? Not something you would like to think you were getting a glass of wine that may have been sitting in the glass a few days! I wouldn't return to the restaurant because of the menu, wine thing that bothered me and the smell.

Ciao calls itself an italian restaurant but only has 3 pasta dishes, pasta surf & turf, tortellini and tortellini with chicken so felt very cheated thinking I was going for an Italian. I feel the only thing this restaurant has going for it is the beautiful view. Went for early dinner on a Saturday night & as usual told to be off the table by 9.15 (infuriating) there were some olives etc on the table which looked & tasted like they had been there for weeks & probably will until someone eats them or they grow fur. I had the tortellini which was the same as I buy in the supermarket except this was covered with a really greasy cream sauce & three shavings of parmesan cheese - it was awful. My friend had the pork which he said was quite nice. All in all we were there for just over an hour so felt very rushed & generally ripped off. The only plus side is the staff were pleasant. Be warned don't waste your money.

Having eaten in Ciao a few times before we were looking forward to a nice meal only to be very disappointed. The service was poor, annoyingly so. My starter was overpriced at 11.95 for 3 prawns and a really tiny piece of smoked salmon. My husband had the lamb shank for main which was very fatty and was served with very undercooked roast veg. I had the duck which was tasty enough but was served with way too little sauce so I was left with a dry duck breast half way through my meal. All in all its not a cheap restaurant and for a similar price you can do vastly better in Malahide. We won't be going back in a hurry.

We were in Ciao on 20th of feb 2008, brought my brother, his girlfriend and my hubby to dinner for there birthdays........... I have to say what a wonderful jewel of malahide, we were greeted by a lovely smiley girl with lots of chat, no way snooty or under pressure, we were seated at the window without request even!!! We all ordered the 3 courses & all were on time with the wine flowing freely and so did the water without asking. We had a wonderful night!!service was great!! I had the fish cakes to start-4/5 then the I had the LINGUINI SURF AND TURF 5/5, then cheese board 5/5. Ciao have a great extensive wine list and great cool, unspoilt atmosphere, well done Ciao, youve nailed it!!! We'll back and havent stopped talking about it since!!!

Hear a lot about this restaurant and thought we should give it a try. Lovely big dining room with the most amazing view over the Marina. We were lucky to get a table beside the window. THe service was very good and helpful. We both choose the Rack of Lamb and were very pleased . No extra charge for vegetables, which is proper order, I hate being ripped off . Desserts were great, really enjoyed the grilled bananas. Will be back.

We ate at Ciao last night (Sept 14). Good wholesome food with country portions. My boxty fishcake was OK though it lacked a wow factor and the main courses (chicken with parma ham and veggie risotto) were of similar "good enough though not fantastic" standard. Probably a place to take the conservative in-laws for Sunday lunch. Waiting staff were engaging and helpful and I'd recommend asking for a window seats, with their good view across the marina.

I had a very positive experience at Ciao previously so booked it for last weekend again. We were kept waiting for our table for over 30 minutes as the previous booking had arrived late. The food was lovely as per my previous visit, but service was not good at all. We had to ask several times for unused wine glasses and empty bottles to be cleared. The only course that was cleared without hesitation was dessert that was whipped from us barely finished. Great food, good location but poor service.

I ate here with friends and although I knew it would be mainly fish, I was also of the impression it was an Italian restuarant, so expected something like lasagne or spaghetti bolognese. Lasangne was only available for the children. Unfortunately, I didn't fancy a large meal (i.e. pizza) so I decided to have a salad. I asked if they would do a caeser salad but they said no, they would do a side salad. This consisted of sliced red onion, cucumber (mainly) peppers and a few leaves of rocket salad. A bit disappointing and not very filling. The rest of the group enjoyed their fish and service was good.

Quite big portions. I had the soup to begin with, which filled me up since the bowl was so big. Had pasta for mains which was gorgeous. And with a view of the sea, it cant be missed

Ciao always hits the spot. This restaurant offers a very nice varied menu at a very reasonable price. The blackboard specials are usually pretty good and have interesting choices for starters and main courses. We have found the service very professional and friendly. They always accommodate any dietary requirements that we may have as all their food is cooked to order. We dine here very regularly and are well looked after. One of Malahide's better restaurants.

We were recommended to this restaurant by friends as being one of the best in Malahide. We had booked a table and on arrival were offered a table by the window. What a view. Staff were very friendly and professional and most welcoming. We were handed a specials list, which also featured on the blackboard. We both opted for the fish special and it was delicious. No extra charge for vegetables. Other restaurants should take note! My partner had calamari for starters, served with a lovely tartar sauce, really great. I opted for the clafoutis dessert, which was to die for. Really good wine list and overall very reasonably priced. We have saved the phone number, as we will be back. What a great venue for a party or celebration. Well done!!!

I thought Ciao was shocking. I picked it because I hoped to get a nice view of the marina, which, in fairness, it has, but the décor and atmosphere inside the place would not be out of place in a pizza hut (minus the kids). Throughout the entire meal we were not checked on once. The starter we had was garlic bread, which was passable, but to be honest, I've had better from takeaway pizza. For main I got lamb, which tasted great, but the portion size was tiny. My other half got a pasta dish (I think it was angel hair), which was bland and tasted slightly watery. The deserts (chocolate cake for me and grilled banana for her) were nice enough. The food was very expensive for what it was. I found it shocking that this place was full (thought it's small, so that's not hard). I will not be returning to Ciao.

I had never been before and usually eat in other eateries in Malahide. I found the decor to be cheap and uninteresting. A mix of neon and tacky colours. Glass tabletops over linen just don't do it for me. Smacks of trying to be fine dining with linen then opting for a cheap finish. Paper napkins included! I opted for the gnocchi entree, (9.95) my partner declined and she had the angel hair pasta (16.95) for main course. I followed my entree with a 10oz Fillet steak. (26.90) It was quite good if overcooked. I had asked for rare and I got med-well. There was a pesto drizzled on the plate for garnish and also what I think was a balsamic reduction, as it was very sweet, drizzled on top of that. I ordered garlic butter with the steak and that was melting into the other wet garnish. The steak sat on top of mash potato, which by now had soaked up all the different conflicting flavours on the plate. There was way too much happening to my palate! We ordered a diet coke and a coke. ( 2.25) What I got was my coke being served from a 2 litre plastic bottle. It was the end of the bottle and the coke was flat. I find this practice of using 2 litre plastic bottles to serve a small glass, absolutely disgraceful as inevitably someone gets their mineral half flat! For restaurant owners who do this is a complete rip off of their clientele. We were never checked throughout our entire meal. After main courses we waited 15 mins with dirty plates to be cleared. I called for my bill on three separate occasions with 2 different staff. I eventually went to the bar counter and stated to the hostess that it would be quicker than sitting waiting for it. She made no comment whatsoever! Charming! Overall... Steak itself was very good. In fairness the two pasta dishes to our table were faultless and very tasty. Service was sloppy and the wait staff looked like they were on another planet! So it's Ciao from me!...

Food quality was average. I've had better though. Some dishes cooled quickly and service was quite slow considering it wasn’t busy. Overall, the standard of the food was no better than the cheaper Italian restaurants, I've tasted better for cheaper. The view of the marina was the best part of the night. I wont be back anytime soon

I have dined here on a numerous occasions, was last here on Thursday, July 5th. Very good standard fare with great views. Staff very attentive. The wine list has a good price range. I had Pate to start with, followed by sea bass, most enjoyable. Good venue for a party or anniversary.

Had dinner here on Friday night with my boyfriend, and have to say we really enjoyed it. Had crostini for starters which was lovely and the vegetarian risotto for main, this was delicious too. They also have gorgeous deserts and it’s quite reasonably priced. It’s a lovely restaurant with some lovely views. The only complaint was the service, which overall was quite good, except at the end when we were left waiting for our bill for 25 minutes. But we would definitely come back here again.

We are very fussy about restaurants but this tick all the boxes. Prices are a bit on the high side though. One night we found the quality of the food to be less than its usual excellence but having been there since we have found to be a brief lapse. Overall excellent.

This place is grand if you just want to go for a casual meal on a Saturday night. The food was good but I thought a bit procey. Some of the fish dishes were 25 which is a bit of a rip off in my opinion. Thought the seats were very packed together and I did notice that a few people were waiting ages in between courses. I'd like to go back again but I do think its a bit pricey for what it is! Views are lovely too!

A great restaurant. We were lucky enough to get a window seat two weeks ago and had a fantastic night. We found the food was very keenly priced and of excellent quality, Beautiful surroundings, staff extremely helpful and friendly, good food and wine - what more could you want to make the perfect night. We were last to leave the restaurant and apologised to staff who said it was "no problem" at all.

This is one of my favourite places to eat. Love the atmosphere and it's very child friendly too if you fancy lunch with the kids. Have had a couple of dud meals there but staff very obliging. Staff excellent and if (I’ll regret this) you request a window seat when booking they'll do their best to ensure you get one.

I've been here a few times and thought it was ok, just ok. Then last Saturday night I had veal Milanese style... it was disgusting, and I don't use the word lightly. It was a tough, measly bit of veal in a soggy breadcrumb coating. If I ever go back, I will stick to the fish on the menu, as they seem to able to manage cooking those dishes to be fit for human consumption. The deserts were all very nice.

I find this restaurant very overpriced for what it is. Italian restaurants tend to be good value for money as it is generally hearty, homemade style food which is quite inexpensive to make. Fair enough if the food here was up to scratch but it just isn't. No atmosphere in the restaurant either. I'd much rather go around the corner to Giovanni's - cheap and cheerful but good quality food, good value for money and usually a great atmosphere! There are far better restaurants in Malahide to spend your money on.

Had our Christmas night out in Ciao awhile ago. Everything went perfectly. The staff really looked after us, food was excellent. I had the monkfish and it was top drawer. Everyone else I was with enjoyed their food immensely. Try and get a window seat if you can because the views are stunning, but it's not always easy as it is usually very busy there. We'll definitely be back!

I was out there a while ago having a business dinner. I took the liberty of ordering the chicken dish, it looked lovely but soon I found out that the portion was not that big and the meat ran away from the bone somewhere between the farm and the kitchen. Yet they made it up with serving one of the best made ice creams that I ever had in Ireland. The vanilla ice cream is very good! So the vanilla would get 3 to 4 stars from me... The overall kitchen sadly enough only 2 as no one at the table was really happy with what they got. Service was at some times a bit rude, not really inviting to go back, if I do then it is for the ice cream.

This is my favourite restaurant in Malahide. The food is class and it's the type of restaurant that combines fine dining and great atmosphere very well. It's very good value for the quality of food on offer and they also have great early bird and weekend lunch deals.
