I am not a real fan of carvery, but the carvery lunch in The Yacht is absolutely wonderful. Portions are big, so you will not be left hungry. There was a big queue when we arrived but staff manage it very efficiently and we were served within 10 mins. I had cajun salmon which was cooked to perfection and a wide selction of potatoes and veg included. My companion had the roast beef and he didin't stop eating until it was all gone. Both meals were delicious. They also have a great selection of very appetising looking dessert, but we just couldn't eat anymore! The bill came to about €27 for the food and it was worth it. the good thing is that you can go for a stroll by the sea front after dinner. Highly recommended

Returned, not impressed. Had the cod and chips. They were beautifully presented in a mini chip basket but when I took the fish out I discovered the chips were burnt. To be fair I did not complain because the meal had taken a long time to arrive, and it was getting late. Had planned another evening there but changed mind after that meal.

Just popped in here last wednesday on spec as weather shocking outside ! No problem getting food & seating as meals are served all over the lounge/bar area. Enjoyed the chicken goujons & fish with v v tasty spicy wedges served in a basket. All priced fairly.

This is actually a double review as have eaten here twice in 2 weeks. Like the atmosphere, nice feel about place and waitresses helpful and friendly. 1st visit we both ordered steaks. Steaks o.k. if little chewy. The pepper sauce tasted out of a packet and v. bland. The mash, was literally that, mashed potato with NO seasoning AT ALL. No salt, pepper, butter, cream, ANYTHING. Awful, no flavour at all. The mushrooms etc, v. oily, so did not enjoy this meal. 2nd visit, we decided to just have a selection of starters. My fav. of chicken wings with hot sauce yum. EXCEPT, NOT YUM. For a start, wings were breaded and CREMATED with 1 solo pale wing placed on top. Not a sign or taste of any hot sauce.Actually asked waitress if this was my order and she checked and said yes.Had to ask her to bring me a little of the "hot sauce" so I could dip the wings. Hubbies garlic mushroom and fish starter were v. greasy and all in all we both had heartburn for rest of evening. My Sis left half her chicken curry behind (even though she was still hungry), and when I asked why she said the chicken was v. tough. So while a nice place for a drink, think I'll leave the food alone in future.

I have been to the Yacht many times and have eaten off the main menu and have also had the Carvery. It is the nicest Carvey in Dublin as far as I'm concerned! The atmosphere is great as it is always quite full - sometimes too full and you have to wait for a table but that speaks for itself!

The food is good value for money however the service could be better, saying that it is not surprising that the waitresses look miserable as the manager is not very professional and could do with a course in customer service.....Our order was not given to the kitchen and after 30 minutes of waiting we asked another waitress who brought over her manager who is rude and unable to deal with a complaint professionally.

A group of us went here last Friday and we had reserved a table by the window. Its a lovely place for a relaxed dinner, the menu has a lot of choice. I got the vol au vont for starters and pasta for the mains. I cant fault the food, it was delicious. The atmosphere is typical of a good pub, although it is loud with the level of people chatting, your still able to hear each other. The pub was packed! The service staff were really friendly and helpful. I would definitley return here!

I go down here the odd sunday for dinner and the food is always really nice, I've never had a bad meal. It's just your typical sunday pub grub. It's reasonably priced too. will definitely continue to go.

Have been meaning to try The Yacht for a while and so glad that I did. There was a great atmosphere on the Friday evening and we were lucky to get a table. I had the curry with half and half rice / chips - and they were v agreeable about this request and the curry was yum ...and spicy too. My husband had fish and chips and this was superb. Everything fresh and home cooked. The service was very attentive and professional and the waitress even gave us a doggie bag for our cat ( and washed the curry sauce of the chicken - now that is very impressive!) In short, I shall be back and imagine this will be a regular for a Friday evening bite . Yum food, great variety, super atmo and value. Looking forward to next trip!

Had dinner here last night. We like to walk as it's a good walk from the house and works up an appetite! We had no starters (despite the wide variety for a pub) and moved straight to mains. I had the fish special and asked for chips instead of mash but that was not the way they serve it and I didn't mind so no big deal. As it happens, chips would have spoiled this meal. It had cod, which was beautifully cooked and falling apart, smoked salmon, prawns & baby-shrimp and tasted fabulous. Veg on the side wasn't much to write home about but the chocolate AND meringue cake for desert was absolutely fabulous! All washed down with whatever you want from the bar (seems obvious but so many restaurants of this quality don't have much of a bar). We'll be back... regularly. Pity they don't pay much attention to their Menupages page though!

I go here for lunch from time to time and it serves its purpose very well. The lines can be quite long at lunch but it moves quickly. Good selection at good prices. Car parking can be a bit of a pain as some days the world and its mother tries to get into the car park.

I have eaten here many times and have yet to get something I don't like. The service is fast and the food reasonably priced. My only suggestion would be that they introduce a early bird menu.

I was with some friends in Howth in a Saturday during the summer. Tried to go to a restaurant over there but it was all booked out. So on the way out to town we passed by the Yacht and decided to give it a goal. It was quite busy, but we managed to get a table straightaway. The service was so fast. The food was specular... I had the special seafood. Wonderful. Will go there again to get the same dish!! They also have free parking... so it's handy if you decide to have a few drinks and leave you car overnight.

I went here for afternoon carvery. I got a small salad which was huge! My partner had roast beef which was also massive and he couldn't finish it - amazing for him! The staff were friendly. It wasn't busy but there was a nice atmosphere.

We ate dinner here last Monday while watching the Liverpool match. I had the warm goats cheese with bacon salad starter, and my partner had the mixed platter with chicken wings, gougons and dip. We got a bowl of spicy wedges to share. Service was slow as they were slow to pick up that we wanted to order food. The salad was very tasty though. All in all it was an good snack and we would eat here again. There is a men's toilet in the small bar section where we watched the match, but women have to walk through a few doors and go into the main section to go to the ladies, where there is both a men and ladies' bathroom. I found that awkward.

Overall poor. Arrived about 7pm with 2 friends for dinner. Was fairly busy but mostly with drinkers being a Friday evening. We ordered quickly but it took ages for the food to arrive and the sides were forgotten on the order. One roast beef and 2 chicken and ham dinners. Portion sizes were good and food was nice. Overpriced considering its a pub and not a restaurant. They should have an early bird menu. And the management should take note of the negative reviews here.

After a long leisurely stroll along the seafront in Clontarf my girlfriends and I decided to top it off with a some food in the Yacht. I was a bit apprehensive from other reviews that we would have a long wait but when we arrived around 5pm the long queues has diminished though the pub was fairly packed. I decided on the Beef Lasagne and salad and at €12.50 I thought it was a bit steep compared to other places around but there was plenty of food for the price the salad was heaped high and the lasagne was delicious. There were a lot of younger lads coming in and their dinners were enormous. Plenty of variety for the carvery and infact real value for money. Enjoyable meal and the chefs were very attentive to each persons request.

We had lunch in the yacht on sunday two weeks ago! We used to frequent here years ago and had no clue that it was renovated etc! We arrived quite early around 12.30ish with grand parents in tow and have to say congrats on the re-furb the place looks great! Really love the new look. Five of us in total, 2 had beef, 2 had turkey and 1 veg lasagne. Top marks all round, beef in particular was excellent. With a couple of glasses of red and a couple of cokes, 1 dessert, 2 teas and a coffee, plus a 10% tip, our bill was under 100e, there was a particularly lovely waitress, she was so patient and really looked after us very well! We'll be returning very soon! Nothing fussy about this place! A carvery is a carvery, but this is a very great one!

The Yacht is a really nice pub to go to fora bite to eat. We went there at about 5.30 so it wasn't too busy. We found a table easy enough and were promptly served. The food was really nice and the atmosphere really relaxed. There was plenty of waiting staff to attend to any of our needs. The price was very reasonable only 40 euro for 2 mains, 2 deserts and 4 glasses of coke. I will definitely go back here for food and look forward to trying out something else on the menu. I had a burger which was really nice however there was just a bit too much burger for me!! My OH had a chicken baguette which was also a very large portion of food. My only complaint is the toilets were really smelly and as someone else mentioned the parking is not great so you would have to find a parking spot near by.

Fairly disappointed after just dropping in after a stroll along the strand with my girlfriend. We grabbed the fajitas, and were hugely surprised when what could only be described as a wrap arrived out. It was pretty good, but tasted more like Peking Chicken than fajita. Given that personally the whole point of fajita is the building of the fajita itself, I was pretty gutted. Still, tasty enough even if it was not what was expected. Value was good enough too, but I wouldn't rush back or recommend it to any of my friends in a rush.

V disappointing. Looks great since the refurb (but may be more suited to a night club feel with the tiled pillars!). The queues for the carvery were ridiculous and at the price should really be table service. Would not go again for food, maybe drinks.

Hi Guys, I brought my wife & 2 teenage daughters down to the Yacht last Thursday evening as a bit of a treat for Daughters Birthday. I had a Medium Steak,Beautiful, lots of sides included.Wife had Pasta that she said was freshly made with lots of seafood. Daughters had ground burgers. No complaints. Good value. Have to say that the place looks class. Possibly the classiest pub on the northside of city.Hats off to designers as massive difference to previous interior. I seen some poor reviews but must have been teething problems as we will be back. P.S. Guinness top notch which helps.

I went to the yacht for a mid week eat just after Christmas… I had a vegetable stir fry and my husband had the steak. The food OK. Not wonderful, but nice enough. The service again was OK. Wasn’t waiting for ages, got served fairly fast etc. my main complaint was the price. Its was way over priced for the quality and there is much better value to be had in restaurants around the area. So like I say, food was ok, but in this climate do you want to pay high prices for just OK food? Probably not!

After eagerlly awaiting the re-openig following complete refurbishment I couldn't wait to try the yacht again. Before it closed I was a regular visitor there for meals and the food used to be always excellent and service was outstanding. However, after going twice since it re-opened I'm not sure I will be back, the first time I went I got the turkey and Ham, turkey was like leather and no stuffing with it, alhough this was mentioned on the menu. The second time we went there was only a two page menu on and it was mainly snacks on it. Got "combo platter" but when it came out it consisted of two chicken wings and two chicken goujons!! Left and went home and ordered a take away later instead! Awful pity, I hope the full menu returns and the previous standard of food returns too otherwise, regretablly, I won't be back. Service as always was good but they definately need more staff to cope with the volume of people as only two staff on serving food to tables and difficult to get their attention as they were so busy. Place is gorgeous following their renovations although toilets very dark, need more lights in there as the black decor makesit look dark and dreary.

I came here for the carvery lunch, the food, I must say was lovely and the portions very big but the queue for the carvery was unreal! There really should have been some back-up staff to help out at the carvery at such a busy time. If I wasn't with a large party I'd have suggested somewhere else for lunch, i was so bored queuing! The staff were very friendly. Not sure if I could deal with that queue again though

We decided to go here for my girlfriends birthday and when we tried to reserve a space (something i had been trying to do for weeks) as we had a large party and one of the party was on crutches i was told that no reservations could be made! This despite the fact that all over the establishment there are posters saying that parties can be arranged and catered for and there were tables reserved for other parties. Aside from this though the food was to its usual high standards, the beef carvery was amazing. This would definitely be a more regular haunt for us if the staff from manager down could get their policies and stories straight.

Went with a group of 7 people of mixed ages to have a meal in celebration of a birthday - this was the worst experience I have ever had in any bar anywhere in the world. We had to return two of the meals as inedible. To start with it took almost 45 minutes to get our meal and when the starters arrived one was not what we ordered and had to wait again for the correct item to be served. We had to keep asking for service - no one came otherwise (except the bar staff who only served the drinks). The boiled chicken and ham was like rubber and the mash had a thick skin on it like it had been around all day. The steak baguette was about the toughest I have ever tasted - both meals had to be returned. When the bill came both items were still on it so I returned it for a credit which they did but if I did not ask, no one would have offered. In all the time no one came around to ask was our meal OK. I am not in the habit of complaining but this experience has put me right off this local bar - never again ....

After about six months the Yacht is open again and fair play to the owners who have obviously spent some money in these recessionary times. The place really needed a makoever and is very nice outside and in. Went for carvery for lunch and it was very nice, portions are very large and food was nice, slightly pricey but will be a good option every so often. Place was packed which is a great sign

I work near the Yacht so I've been here loads of times for lunch. Brilliant place and even better after the refurb. Place looks amazing! Weldone to the owners. The cavery is very tasty and I can't get enough of the veg lasagne, garlic potatoes and veg. Massive portions also but you can ask for half portions if you prefer. Carvery only €12.95 and veg lasagne with sides is only €8.95!! Bargain price, yummy food and plenty of it! Make sure you try it out for a cheap but tasty meal.

I brought my wife's boss and her counterpart from America here for a bit to eat. What a COMPLETE MISTAKE. The foor was awful, food not served all at once, over prices both for food and drink. When I went to complain nothing was done they just brought the bill and demanded payment.DO NOT EAT HERE.

The food here is just ok, the service is always very good. I like the modernised part of the bar and the fire, I love to go here for a drink. But the other half needs to really be updated, the seats are getting far too old. Nice for a few drinks on a cold night.

Have had carvery lunch here twice over the past few weeks. Like all carverys they go in for the quantity not quality moto. I have to say this did serve well the last time as I was dying of a hangover and wanted comfort food. Plenty of mash, stuffing, and everything else did the trick. They have a huge selection of meats to choose from.

I ate here yesterday and was disappointed at how grubby the pub is. There weren't many people in the pub, yet the tables were dirty and had empty glasses on them. Three waitresses were standing around and proceeded to put our cutlery down without even cleaning the table. When we asked for the table to be cleaned of the ketchup and food we were looked at as if we were asking for something unusual. However, the food was good and the wine list is very reasonable. 18 for the house wine and three choices. We asked for no garnish or salad and the meals arrived with each. Maybe it was a language difficulty but the waitress wasn't pleasent. The bill came to 60e for three mains and a bot of wine. This included a steak. Chips come with the mains which is good value. It's a pity for the chef that the main pub is grotty. It was a Saturday evening and we were on our way home from town so it was a last resort. Would I go back again-no. Not to a dirty pub.

Just ok for pub grub, too much salt added to food, dirty tables with left over food, empty glasses. Gets very busy with kids running around. I'm all on for family days out but not unsupervised family days out where the parents are just interested in drinking!

The Yatch pub is my local. Great atmosphere in the place when there’s a match on telly, great bar staff as well but the food is the worst 'pub grub' I have had in Ireland. I have given it so many chances even after a few pints I have found myself leaving nearly all the food on the plate, even the chips are awful. Pints are great in there though, thank god ;)

This is a nice spot. The carvery on a Sunday is always very tasty. The Q can be quite long but this isn't the fault of the staff, the place is just extremely popular and they do what they can to keep up with the demand. Also do beautiful lunchs during the week, soup and sandwiches are always up to sratch. Staff are grand, not great but not bad either.

Sunday afternoon carvery is OK. As with all carverys you get the standard fare. The yacht had a little extra choice which was good, but the 30 minute queue was a bit much for carvery. The prices though, were cheap enough and the quality of food for that price was pretty good. Although there was no relaxing in the Yacht it seemed to be a frenzy of people wanting to get their food and get out, which is not what Sundays are about.

3 of us had Sunday lunch in Jan. Overall food was as good as you might expect for pub grub - plenty of it and plenty of choice - good value too.

The food here is just divine. Had the carvery here on Sunday and the turkey just melts in your mouth. Good size portions as well. The evening menu is very extensive and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend this place.

Food here is exceptional for "pub grub". Personal fave would be the chicken fajita wrap, it's absolutely divine. It's a beautiful pub, lovely atmosphere and can get a view of the water from some choice window seats. Service is mediocre, can be very slow. Prices are ok. I think most mains run in the 12-17 Euro range. Have been there a number of times and will continue to go back as the food is consistently high quality.

Had meal here last night and was very impressed. The yacht special a fish dish with a mixture of prawn, shrimp, cod and salmon was as good as I have tasted anywhere. My wife just went for a simple steak and that to was very nice. Pity it is a pub because it sort of takes away from it but top marks for food.
