Have cisited a few times. The service an atmosphere are always good, but some of the options on the menu could be improved.

We have been here a few times and always enjoyed it. This time I had battered fish and it was not great. The batter was soggy and thick. My wife had steak which was ordered rare and came out blue. The prawn starter was very good but the main courses let the reputation of the restaurant down. I had desert which was fine and the bill was reasonable. Don't know if we go back in a hurry.

Had heard good reviews about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. We had booked a table for 6pm, we arrived a couple of minutes early and were seated no problem. There was plenty of choices on the menu along with some specials. There was plenty of variety on the kids menu also and it was no problem in swapping chips for mash and veg for my daughter. We opted for the scallops and special salad for starters and both were delicious. I then asked for the rib of beef but was told it was gone and would sirloin steak be ok, this suited me fine, my husband had the seabass and we both thoroughly enjoyed our mains, to finish off we had apple pie and peach crumble, needless to say our plates were emptied, our daughter emptied her plate also and this is a rareity. We have now booked our daughters communion lunch here as the food and service was great. Looking forward to returning soon.

Have eaten here a good few times with friends from work, always at lunch time. It is always full so they are obviously doing something right. The food is good quality and tasty. My only compliant is that it could serve more sandwiches and salads at lunchtime as the only real option is mail courses. I had the chicken burger with gorgeous chunky chips and my two friends had the lasagne which they said was very good .Reasonably priced. Service can be a little slow at times and sometimes its a rush to get back to work on time. However overall a good experience.

I really like this place just dropped in on a Saturday evening with no booking. It was very busy they would only give me a table for an 1 Hour and 15 Mins so I though well if you can feed us we would be very happy with that also. The only Table they had was at the back of the restaurtant opposite the Kitchen area. I liked being able to watch the Chefs at work. It was very noisy though if you were out for a romantic Evening I would recommend a table near the front. I had Mackerel salad to start and then the Pork Belly. The Fish starter was outstanding tasted very very fresh and the Pork was melt in the Mouth. The Staff were warm and helpful. They recommended a great Malbec €22. We were told during our main Course that we didnt need to rush the next table coming in had called to say they were running rate. I thought it was a nice touch. look forward to trying some other dishes like the fish specials next time..thumb up

What has happened to this restaurant? My husband and I had a bad experience at this restaurant on Saturday night. It used to be one of our favourites. We used to go there for all occassions. On Saturday, the service was awful. The restaurant was half empty. In fact there was only one other table occupied when we arrived. As a result, the chefs has very little to do and every order they got, the food was done immediately. Within the first 20 minutes, we had our main courses in front of us. This mean't that we had ordered, received bread and taster from the chef and had our starters. I mentioned it to the waitress whose attitude was "had she known". As a result we were too full to eat our main courses. The waitress obviously misinterpreted my comment on the meal being served so quickly because we got left with our main course in front of us for 40 minutes after we had finished. In the end, we decided to ask for the bill. We didn't get charged for the wine which was a nice gesture but personally I would have preferred to pay for the wine and enjoy my meal. To add insult to injury, we had to try to find our own jackets before someone offered to help us. I don't know what has happened here but it's an absolute shame. What used to be a little gem with high standards has let those standards slip. Such a shame.

Dined here last night with family/friends.In a word: AMAZING. No other restaurant in Dublin compares to 1014 in terms of service, food, and atmosphere. Margaret(the manageress) is incredible- she is so warm , welcoming and watches every detail..There is an excellent summer menu (2 couses for 19.95all night), which has excellent choice...My starter of Cooleney cheese with jalpeno dressing was sublime and I wold get up in the middle of the night for the fish and chips, which is so fresh it melts in the mouth..My Mum had the vegetarian option and said it was gorgeous. There was a wonderful musician playing in the background, which really added to the atmosphere. Service is excellent and nothing is too much trouble - staff accomodate in every respect. Our friends are from athlone and were on their 1st trip to 1014; however- the are so jealous we have this gem of a restaurant on our doorstep and said they would definitely be planning a return visit, when next in Dublin...This place still remains my favourite restaurant- delivers in all areas..:-)

Went here with 5 friends from work as one of us was moving on to a new job. I have to admit that I have been on more than one occasion and each time iv been impressed. Our Party took its time arriving and in all we were probably almost an hour late ordering our mains, however Margaret the manager couldn't have been more accommodating. The Food, as always, was simply perfect, the manager is quite simply the best front of house manager anywhere in North Dublin. Then we all left and strolled down the waters edge and continued the night away. I cant wait until the next time!

I ate here just after it opened a couple of years ago, & returned on Fridaay evening with two friends. I arrived at 7.50 - and there were 2 tables with children, who were running around the restaurant. Thankfully, they left by 8pm! I arrived before my friends, but was not offered a drink while waiting - only tap water. We found the service to be hit and miss all night. On the whole, it was pleasant, but the waiting staff were reaching across us cutting off conversation (despite the fact there was plenty of room around the table for them to move around it). There is a special 'early bird' menu, which is served all night Mon-Fri & is hidden behind the á la carte menu(why are restaurants so scared to have a TDH menu, & call it just that? - an early bird does not continue all night). I had the asparagus & chorizo risotto with the addition of prawns - this was really delicious, well cooked risotto & beautifully treated prawns. My two friends had the supreme of chicken which was delicious also. For dessert I had the white choclolate brulée which was really nicely flavoured & cooked-a rarity these days. The only let down was that it was not caramelised quite enough, & so I found myself crunching on grains of sugar, but I finished it none the less! Overall we had a nice night, but I feel there has been a definite change in atmosphere since ten fourteen's opening - it didn't feel quite a special as it did, perhaps a symptom of new economic times. One thing that has remained is the Specials board. This is a large blackboard on an easel which is hauled table to table all night-a horrible, ugly addition to an otherwise lovely dining room-I cannot understand why they do this. It blocks the diners' view of the dining room & kitchen, & looks simply horrible. I would recommendd the staff & management sit down at each table every so often & see thngs from the customers point of view. Overall, decent food & ok service-a nice neighbourhood bistro, but not for a special occasion

I went to Ten Fourteen last night with friends. I had caesar salad for my starter, this was a very generous portion and was delicious. For my main course I had lamb shank, with veg and potatoes. The lamb was absolutely gorgeous, the meat just fell off the bone. It was the nicest meal I've had in a long time. The staff are so nice and couldn't do enough for us. For the atmosphere, food and service it was all in all a very reasonably priced meal. I will definitely be a regular visitor.

Enjoyed a very pleasant late lunch in Ten Fourteen this afternoon. They do a decent offer of 2 courses for e20. Opted for 2 starters. They consisted of a tasty bruschetta, and a portabella mushroom puff pastry dish, that was very moreish. Apart from a minor quibble on over-charging on the bill at the end, a very enjoyable lunch. Recommended.

Early Bird Meal for two. An amuse bouche was first up, it was forgettable. Starters of Crispy Cooleeny Cheese was tasty and the Caesar Salad was good, though with a little too much dressing. Main of Fish and Chips was very good, fish was cooked perfected and batter was very good. Chips were delicious but tartare Sauce was too rough cut for me. The other main of chorizo and sweet pea risotto was delicious, though probably a little too creamy to eat in one sitting. Negative is that i got a what i thought to be a caper tasting sundried tomato salsa with the F&C, on both my starter and main, which i didn't like. It wasn't on the menu (so i guess it was a one off) but was the only thing left on my plate at the end. Service was excellent and it was value for money, Eur40 for two, due to the quality of the mains.

Went to Ten Fourteen for a girlie luncg that was to have taken place before Christmas. We were a party of 8 and were under a bit of time pressure. We were seated to a good table on arrival and given menus and water ( but no jug was left on table although requested) This was a small niggle but meant that every time we wanted a refill we had to ask as lunch sitting was busy and there was only 2 staff waiting on tables. The specials board was on an easel and placed at the end of our table. The lunch menu had some good choices. 2 of the party decided on the chicken sandwich; 2 chose the fish of the day ( sea bream) and 4 opted for the fish and chips option. The bill including coffees for 4, soft drinks and a glass of wine came to €145. The girls were happy and looking forward to a return visit.

I had no problem booking 1014 on Thurs 6th for Fri 7th and can only assume this was because it is January! I cannot fault this restaurant. The staff were friendly, the food was every bit as good as I remembered from a previous visit and we had a really good night. The room was buzzing when we arrived with two other friends and we were seated immediately and offered drinks. I chose a breaded cheese to start and having experienced the pork belly before I had to order it again. My other half ordered the confit of duck to start and seabass for his main. Our waitress came back to apologise because they had run out of confit of duck and offered him duck breast instead which he took. After some wine and Irish coffees, were were the last table occupied and our waitress brought us some scones in a bag to take home. Our total bill was €189 for four including two bottles of wine and four Irish coffees. Can't wait to go back again. Yum!

We had a family group of seven. The service from the staff all the way through was excellent, unobtrusive and perfectly pitched. While the menu may appear short, the quality of the food more than compensated. Our table was near the open cooking area, but it never intruded on our enjoyment of the meal. All of the starters were beautifully presented , particularly the warm duck breast. The fish and chips was exquisite, very light batter and presented with perfect tartare sauce and chips. The sea trout was equally as good. All of the desserts were top quality, and the chocolate souffle was par excellence. We asked for our coffes served with the desserts. We really appreciated the touch of serving our coffee's just before the desserts The pricing structure is fantastic and the overall value for money will not be beaten in many other restaurants. We will definiteley be back again soon

Went with the hubby for a special treat last Friday. The floor is beautiful tile mosaic but quite slippy (though it's well signposted as such!) due to condensation and once seated I was reluctant to venture to the bathroom! (Didn't want to land on my behind because of the high heels!) That said, the food was just fantastic. Hubby had soup from Specials board and I had mussels to start then he had fish (I think it was Hake?) from specials and I had steak. Everything was just delicious & perfectly cooked. Desserts were nice - though my sticky toffee pud seemed shop bought and came a poor second to his white chocolate & lime thingy which was homemade & DIVINE! A very nice bottle of merlot to boot and all in all a very reasonable bill. Atmosphere wasn't great I have to say - I'm not a fan of looking into the kitchen whilst dining (just a personal thing) and the lack of music didn't help. That said, the service was brilliant and, again, I can't compliment the chef's enough. Yum.

Having dined here 3 times before christmas and twice since, I, unfortunately have concluded that this is nowhere near the restaurant it used to be. The freshness of the food has deteriorated as has the flavour in most dishes, the service has dropped but is still friendly, just very very stressed. I'm more disapointed in the fact that following my great meals here in the past i have been screaming from the rooftops about this place, only to be told afterwards that it was not good at all. I was there last week and they had ran out of everything nearly, the place was in chaos and the busy, calm determined little room i once loved has now gone. Im so sorry for such a bad review, especially as its owned by a charity, but i always told people when it was good, so i'll tell people when it is bad. I wont be back.

Three of us went for lunch to Restaurant Ten Fourteen to celebrate my Mum's birthday and had a very enjoyable afternoon. The food was gorgeous, staff were friendly and efficient and it was great value to boot. For a lunch menu there was a good variety of dishes for both those who wanted a light lunch and those who wanted something a bit more substantial. I fell into the latter category so it was the Pistachio Crusted Goats Cheese Crottin followed by an Open Salmon Sandwich with homemade chips for me and they fit the bill perfectly. I especially enjoyed the home cut chips and have to admit wasn't exactly sure what a Crottin was,( I now understand it is a type of goats cheese) but I will be ordering it again. My Mum most importantly of all also really enjoyed her meal too she had the soup of the day and the Asparagus and Wild Mushroom Fettuccine. We took our time and never felt rushed which was a welcome change. It is also nice to know that the profits all go to a good cause - Charity CASA. We will definitely be back.

Went for lunch and am sorry to say I wasn't impressed. Wasn't crazy about the dated decor, felt like we were in dunnes cafe circa 1990. The ceviche starter was lovely as was the duck starter... but the sea bass main was pretty dissapointing (fish was full of bones and the rosti was tasteless). To finish we went for the cheeseboard to share, which arrived about 20 minutes later and the cheese looked and smelled bad so we sent it back. All in all it wasn't a great experience and I dont think I'd go back.

Returned here because of prev good service & great food.Soup and melon starters didn't disappoint. Hake was delicious.Pear crumble as good as ever and plenty big for two. Hot choc was a bit heavy on sugar but that was the only minor complaint.

Really nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. Vegetarian option was delicious and very filling. Dinner was pricey but lunch looked very reasonable. Was delighted to see that it is a not for profit restaurant and all proceeds go toward charity. Will go back to support it and enjoy the food.

This was our 2nd visit to 1014, the first time being for my mothers birthday a year ago. My wife and I enjoyed the good buzz from the moment we arrived and the friendly staff added to the magnificent food. My wife & I had the smoked salmon and cornfed chicken with pudding to start which were faultless. For mains I had the duck which was devine, my wife ordered the steak and asked for it well done, the waitress politely asked if she would be interested in trying medium well, but on pointing out that my wife was pregnant and that is why she needed well done, the waitress was almost embarassed for not having realised. The steak was cooked to perfection and from that moment on the service got even better, not that it lacked in the first place. Along with a nice bottle of New Zealand Sav to help with the shared desert the bill came to €103. Even better when you have a voucher for €100. Will be returning again without any doubt

We met up with 2 pals who had just returned from hols in Portugal and had been describing the value in eating out over there. Our waitress was a very bubbly girl who explained that both specials were finished as the place was thronged but that alternatives had been substituted, swordfish instead of hake and pork steak in lieu of lamb. Starters were piping hot, advice on wine was offered and was spot on. Mains were certainly tasty and well presented. The two girls shared a dessert while the two lads had cheese to finish off the red you know. So starters for 4, mains for 4, 3 desserts and 3 bottles of mid range wine cost €230ish. Not great value but worth another visit

we ate here for our wedding anniversary. Arrived a little late as difficult to get parking nearby. Quite busy even tho twas mid week and the place was chocka! Amiably greeted by very nice waitress who showed us to the best table which was reserved for us- a window seat overlooking the beautiful sea front- how romantic! Our experience only got better. Service was prompt and friendly, but not obtrusive. Had asparagus spears to start and he had colcannon soup both were delicious! Main courses were duck for me and he had pork steak special, again both were perfect ( best duck I've tasted in a long time). For dessert we both had rhubarb crumble which to be frank was not fruity enough and a bit dry , saved only by the lovely brandy snap basket full of vanilla icecream. Bill was , two coffees and a nice bottle of rose with it, 110 euro, which wasn't cheap but we were quite happy as we walked down the pier into the sunset! Will definitely return, a special night out...

My fourth visit here and I have to say I am always pleased with the excellent service offered in Ten Fourteen. Today I ate here for a colleagues retirement party. Before sitting inside to dine we were afforded the chance to have a drink outside the restaurant and being such a sunny day this was enjoyed by everyone. The food as always was excellent, piping hot, well presented and decent in portion size. I opted for a soup starter followed by a gourmet sausage both of which were very good. Most of my colleagues opted for the mussel starter which they all loved. For mains they either had duck or fish and chips and again the comments were very positive. The location of Ten Fourteen is perfect and easily accessible.Diners near the window can enjoy the vista of Dublin bay. My twelve colleagues that I attended with had nothing but good things to say about their visit. The other brilliant thing about Ten Fourteen is that the profits go to CASA. I will be back very soon again.

Ate here on Friday night and it was busy and buzzy. The stand out starter was an Asparagus special with a mushroom ragout. Main courses ordered were John Dory, Sea Bream, Scallops and Duck - all cooked perfectly with good accompaniments and they were decent portion sizes. We unexpectedly got a small taster/amuse bouche each to start which was nice. The brown bread served with the starters was also very good. I found the service excellent and very friendly which is a refreshing change from the usual. They have a good wine selection and we had a rioja for Overall our experience was very good. Even got parking outside the door. Prices are a little on the high side on the a la carte menu though I think they have an early bird. Will definitely be back.

Another great experience in 1014. I love the fact that the kitchen is in full view and there are always a couple of unusual dishes. Service can be a little slow but the staff are always very busy and I'd rather take longer over my meal and know that more profit goes to the charity which owns it. I don't know another restaurant where you can get eat a dish you haven't tried before cooked with enthusiasm.

Really really enjoyed our meal here. The service was great and the little touches like the tasters they sent to our table were really appreciated. I had the scallops and they were lovely and light. And the chuncky chips would bring me back on their own. My friend ordered a steak and was delighted it came out cooked to perfection - medium as had been ordered. I will go back but it is a little more of a treat than the price review on this site suggests. We did not have the same choice as the menu online suggests and although there was lots I would have chosen, only one dish was below €20. Perfect for a Thursday - Sat, a little bit expensive for a quick bite on a Monday evening.

Great experience! I had heard good reviews about this restaurant and it didn't fail. We had the haddock and cheese to start, both v tasty, and good portion size. We both had the fish of the day and again really good portions, and the fish was perfectly cooked. I should also mention the bread, beautiful selection and quality. Add a bottle of red and tea, at approx €100 not bad value. It was busy enough and we had reserved the table in the window, perfect setting. Will definately visit again!

Five of us had a great food experience in Ten Fourteen on a busy Monday nite.Really loved the cosy atmosphere, friendly great service and surperb food. Wine list could do with some more "middle of the road "priced wines but very happy with the Chenin Blanc & Malbec. Highly Recommended A+++

I have read about this Restaurant on a few occasions, so decided to give it a go. Had heard about the fact that it's run by a charity and liked that idea. From the time we walked in until we left it was a great experience, There is a great buzz and atmosphere in the Rest., and the food was delicious and the staff were so friendly, really made us feel welcome.... can't wait for our next visit.

We went to 1014 and we had such a great experience. I had the chickpea patties for starter and the goats cheese stack, which was delicious. My husband had the Pate and the Beef and finished it off with the Warm Pear Crumble, The kids were well looked after with a great menu. My dad is diabetic and the staff were very helpful in recommending dishes to him. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back.

I would always hope that this place would be good because of the charity ownership but we had sunday dinner last week and found it to be a very mixed bag. I dined with my partner and kids. A big plus is the kids menu which is thoughtfully put together. Kids had bangers and mash and home made chicken and chips. On previous visits there was always a bit of ceremony about bringing over the specials blackboard to each table and going through the specials. On our visit, there was no sign of the specials board so we presumed specials didn't happen on a Sunday. However, later during our meal the board reappeared with some very tasty sounding options. On mentioning this to the manageress we were met with a shrug and told it was the waiter's fault. My starter of haddock gratin was a good concept but was mediocre in execution with the gratin element being underdone. My partner had a chickpea starter which left no major impression. For mains, I had pork belly. It was good. My partner had medallions of fillet steak done medium. The texture was chewy. The service in general was poor. The individual server seemed pleasant but was always too rushed so personal attention was absent.

I went there with my partner & toddler for our Anniversary. For Starters both of us had Chowder it was OK very watery though. For Mains I had Salmon & my partner had 1014 fish & chips both satisfactory. The whole experience was just amazing the staff are very friendly and we found them very helpful. We will definitely visit again and would love to recommend to friends. Keep up the good work.

New to the area and was reccomended to try this bistro by our neighbours, we used menupages for first time to find out more and was ready for a lovely meal. Unfortunately it was not good, not good at all. Initial service was great, nice welcome and led straight to table, downhill after that, certain items were not described honestly and oversold the food we actually received, when i complained i could see two waitresses talking in whispers about us and chef looking at us, we didnt hang around for desserts and got the bill, we felt incredibly uneasy and the food just did not taste or look good. Pity.

We went to ten fourteen as we had heard it was a good restaurant. It was quite loud and not very cosy as all the tables are very close together. We seemed to be forgotten about as we had to ask 35 minutes later for our starter which we got 10 minutes after that. People there after us were on their main courses. The main courses came but were luke warm so we sent them back. They were very apologetic and brought us new ones and said they would offer us champagne to compensate for the poor service. We had our meals which tasted ok but were small for what you pay. I had scallops but the veg was hard and cold so we didnt eat it. We didnt want to complain further so just asked for the bill. Surprise surprise our waitress who said she would bring us champagne had gone home, it was only 9.45pm so we didnt get the champagne nor any other form of apology or acknowledgement. Unfortunately I have nothing positive to say about our experience at ten fourteen and have cancelled a group booking I made as I would never go there again.

Couldn't speak highly enough of the food and service. All the previous reviewers are not exaggerating. We went here for the first time last night for a birthday diner. Had starter of Ham Hock & Cabbage which was delicious followed by beer battered cod and home cut chips. From beginning to end service was impeccable and nothing we asked for was too much trouble. In a time of restaurant deals and special offers it does cost more than average outside of early bird hours but really well worth it. Will be back again and often!

Had lunch in this very busy restaurant with one companion. We both had the cod and chips. We both felt the cod was perhaps previously frozen. It doesn't state on the menu its fresh, so perhaps it is. The batter was delish though. My companion enjoyed the pea puree. We had the lemon drizzle cake and the spiced pear crumble for desert, both nice, the pear crumble exceptionally so. Service was excellent, the waitress couldn't have been nicer. I can't say we were impressed, but we liked it enough to maybe give it another try.

Excellent food. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. A bit cold sitting at the door but everything else lovely. They catered to my needs as regard diet and changed a few things with no hassle. THey also gave us a glass of champagne for my boyfriends birthday on the house. It is not cheap but worth it!

Came here for early bird menu with a friend, looks are very deceiving on the outside but once you get inside its very cosy and a lot bigger than you'd expect. I had the Jane Russell black pudding wrapped in filo pastry to start which was very tasty indeed followed by the fish and chips which were like fish goujons rather than one big piece of fish. Wasn't crazy about the chunky chips. I prefer my ships to be slightl crisp and these were dark brown and mushy. We skipped dessert and finished off wirth 2 mint teas. It was good value but won't be rushing back for the food, the service was excellent though, all the wait staff were very attentive.

Came here for an early bird. It's a bit of a pain location wise if you're not based Northside but a nice cosy restaurant otherwise. Staff were friendly and accomodating and all ingredients are top quality and seem very fresh. The early bird menu is excellent value - I had a stuffed portobello mushroom which was tasty and a salmon steak with potato rosti which was also good. I can't fault the food but the whole experience wasn't up to the standard of other restaurants.

I adore this place...everything from the exceptional food to the fabulous staff.Visited recently again as was my dads 70th and somehow one of the waitresses had over heard us commenting about it and brought over a celebratory little dessert with candle in for my dad along with a sincere birthday wish.On other occasions another lovely waitress has bent over backwards to provide us with top friendly service.Nothing is too much difficulty and the food speaks for its self...a gem of a place who i hope continue to flourish.

This is an great restaurant! Seven of us ate here yesterday for a family meal. This was the second time we visited and again the food was fantastic!! What was also great was that the menu had changed completely from the last time which gave us a whole new set of choices. The service was also excellent- professional but very warm and friendly. I think 1014 is fast becoming my favourite restaurant for it's consistantly excellent quality of food and with sunday lunch at €25 for 3 courses it's outstanding value too. Only tiny issue was it was a little chilly near the door each time it opened but that didn't stop us from enjoying a great meal!

We tried the Early Bird here and where very impressed. The service was excellent and I love the Frenchy interior. Perfect place for a romantic dinner. The food was lovely and I had a big bowl of seefood chowder as a starter that was enough for a main dish! The main dish with goat cheese and roasted veg was also really good. Definitely will go back, maybe even for the a la carte menue.

Went here for lunch today and thoroughly enjoyed the food. We were put sitting in the window which can make you feel a little trapped. The service was very friendly and it's probably the best I've had in terms of value for a long time. It was packed so they're definitely doing something right.

I have dined here a couple of times and always found it expensive, so I decided to try it for lunch and invited a friend and his wife. The atmosphere was good but the draft from the door needs more than a curtain. On the day one of the specials was lamb and the waitress recommended it. I took her advice and the lamb was excellent. However they did not serve any mint sauce.I asked for some and after a delay another waitress came down and apologised that they had no mint sauce but would make it fresh for me. I was half way through my dinner at that stage and said it was ok. (That is poor service} We 4 main courses and 3 desserts, a bottle of white and 3 glasses Red. Cost €125. I still think this is OTT for a lunch menu. I think 1014 needs to look at its prices. There is better value in many other establishments and I for one will be more astute by checking menupages in advance. AidanB

Waitress made the overall experience miserable. Occasionally I take my children out to restaurants and this place in particular had a children's menu yet they seem to go out of their way to make sure you know they are not welcome, namely by avoiding serving them. The waitress was semi-reasonable towards me but appeared to dislike men. The choices were fair, the selection wasn't great for a supposedly prestigious restaurant. I would have to be well paid to return here.

Overall my dining experience was good, certainly ticks all the right boxes for a nice meal out and the price of dinner wasn’t that bad either. It commenced with a lovely bottle of wine and a complimentary started of bread and cheese which I didn’t catch the name of but was really delicious. I had the 1014s Crostini to start and the Mushroom Risotto for my main course both of which were lovely. My husband had the Mussels to start which he said were very tasty with the perfect amount of sauce but his steak was extremely fatty and not at all satisfying, it was not finished. The service was good but we both felt the courses arrived too quickly giving no time to digest the last slightly rushing our meal. The cheesecake we shared for desert was divine though and helped my husband forget about his disappointing steak!

Had lunch here recently with my work colleaguse. It was really nice. Would recomment booking if your going later in the week. I had the steak sandwich and it was gorgeous. It came with lovely home cut chips and a hollendaise sauce. Would love to go back for dinner some day and sample some more of the menu.

Wonderful food, great service some lovely touches in the decor and then some awful ones. If booking a table ask to sit near the front because if you're at the back the counter top around the kitchens is like something from a greasy spoon. However, this is my only criticism. Will go back again and again if only to have their sticky toffee pudding. I'd consider myself something of an expert on sticky toffee pudding and here is the best I've ever had by a mile. There fresh fish and aged beef are extraordinarily good and the staff don't hover but are always near if you need them

Very disappointed. I had read so much about this place and had really looked forward to trying it out, but was so let down by bad service, I felt compelled to write this review. I was brought there by some people who have been there several times before and following this experience none of us will be returning. It's quite a cramped restaurant, which is not a bad thing as this usually creates a nice cosy ambience. However, when we were shown to our table we were put sitting approx. 2 inches from the table beside us, even though there were many of other vacant tables available. We felt we couldn't talk and the table beside us stopped talking as soon as we sat down. This wasn't too much of a problem as we asked to be moved, and the staff directed us to a different table about 15 minutes later. Ok, so no big deal. My main gripe comes with the attitude of the staff. The meat for our main course was absolutely awful. And again, no big deal these things can happen. However when the staff asked us was everything alright we told them we couldn't even cut the meat as it was so hard, and that chewing was out of the question - we were told abruptly 'that's just the way it is'. I've never once made a complaint in a restaurant before, especially after the obligatory ‘is your meal ok’ question. When our plates were taken from us by a different staff member, with 90% of the food still on them, we again mentioned that the meat wasn’t great. This time we were completely blanked. Feeling pretty unwelcome and hungry, we called for the bill (which included the hefty cost of our uneaten main courses) and went elsewhere for our dessert and coffees. Nice place, shame about the coldness of the staff.

Went here for my birthday on a wed night, our reservation was for 9pm and when we arrived the place was buzzing. We got a really good table right at the window and the waiting staff were really friendly. I ordered the mussels for starters and the lemon sole for my main course which was a special that evening. My boyfriend had the black pudding starter and the pork belly special. My mussels were the best I have ever had and such a huge starter the mussels were biggest I have ever eaten. My boyfriend’s starter was also really nice but his pork belly was under cooked as the skin should have been crispy. I would recommend this place for a treat as it is quiet pricey but you get what you paid for.

Such divine food. I saw this listed on MenuPages.ie and wondered if the food would live up to the reviews and I've got to say YES that it does. Really exquisite food and just an all round really nice place to eat. I'll be back, nyom nyom.

I had lunch here on Sunday. When I walked in I thought I was in an old folks home. The average age was 70 so the atmosphere wasn't great. I am not being ageist but you couldn't say it was a hip and trendy place. But what you can say is the food is bloody good. We started with the scallops and chorizo starter. It was amazing but a little on the small side. I had the pork for my main, they used belly pork that was tasty but the crackling was soft, nice champ and veg. My wife had the fish and chips. This is normally very good but this time the fish batter was soggy but the chips were crip and light. I really like this place and will be back very soon. Maybe it was the local old folks home day out.

Great night here doesn't look much from the outside but when you step inside it's beautiful. Very friendly staff specially our waiter who seemed to know exactly the level of service to give us, not too overbearing not forgetting us. Ordered our meal and we were brought a sample of a cheese canape which I could have eaten more of them for the rest of the night. Unfortunately this is the kinda place you want to lick your plate in but you can't. Food portions were big did not finish my starter or main (had the steak) but enjoyed every bite I ate. Just slightly expensive but that would not turn me off going again. Looking forward to my next visit :)

Went here with the girlfriend. Got the early bird menu. I got the sea food chowder for starters - it was really really tasty. She went for the soup. We both got the chicken for mains. It was really tasty. Service was excellent with really friendly smiling waitresses. Overall good value with tasty food looking forward to going again for the seafood chowder!

After several attempts to get a booking we finally managed to get a table in one of our local restaurants. Having heard and read a lot we were expecting a great experience and while some aspects lived upto it, it wasn't a complete success. Menu is good with some nice choices though in these straightened times it seems slightly expensive for what you get. Staff were friendly and service was reasonably good. I ordered the black pudding in puff pastry but first time around the pastry was very much blackened, this was exchanged and second version was very nice. My wifes steak was not spot on though and also had to be replaced. Staff were very good about this. Chips were some of the nicest I've ever had.

Mouth still watering from last night over this place...just amazing. Couldn't possibly give it less than 5/5 for everything. From the waiter greeting on arrival (who was just so nice and friendly and helpful....without being too much)...to the specials board being brought to our table with no questions asked. Ice cold bottled water, bread as a little taster as we waited for course one. The whole experience was second to none and we were determined to return again soon with more people (there were two of us last night). We were given this little sample from the chef of a cheese dish & it was just gorgeous. Salad and the Crispini (?) to start. Salad was on the specials board and I was just gorging on every mouthful. WOW. Then the fish and chips for main where the fish felt like it melted in my mouth !!! and my friend had a steak and she was VERY impressed. She said "Cooked to perfection". Chips were sensational. Just everything....absolutely EVERYTHING was perfect here...TRY IT. Yummers...

We were invited to Ten Fourteen by friends of ours who live in Clontarf. I had heard such good comments about the place. I was disappointed overall. I had the steak and it was quite fatty and not cooked how I had ordered. However, the waitress was very pleasant and efficient. Next time I'm visiting the area, I will give it another go, perhaps it was just a bad night.

Great food 10 out of 10 and we intend on making it our regular, the only thing missing from the food is its bland surroundings we initally thought it was a cafe restaurant and did not expect food this good.

TOILET DOOR OPEN ALL THE TIME :-( We loved the food, the waiter was nonchalent and could care less tho' we rang and subsequently apologised for being late. Smart comments were not appreciated and we were seated where it suited him despite the place being half empty - inside the box. Looking forward to this so much and so disappointed by the staff.

Would recommend to anyone. The early bird is especially good value. Were very accomdating letting us move inside and then back out with our wine after dinner as restaurant was a bit stuffy and we were very full! Lovely atmosphere- full on a Monday evening.

Wow wow wow. A group of 5 of us ate here last Tuesday and we were blown away by the food. There is a fairly big menu and also several specials on a blackboard to choose from. 2 of use had the calamari special, one had soup (garden vegetable and hazlenut cream-delicious), another had the goats cheese salad and someone else had risotto. All of the starters were beautifully presented and were delicious. The main courses were even better, my boyfriends mother had the scallops, which she said were the best she has ever had. My boyf had a duo of beef special, the fillet had been hung for 28 days and the daube of beef had been braised for 16 hours! Melt in the mouth soft. I had the roasted cod, which was nice and chunky, someone else had the battered fish and the last person had the lamb, which was also cooked for 16 hours. Fantastic! We shared 2 deserts, both fruit and ice cream. With 1 bottle of wine, the meal came to about €220 for 5 which is good for the outstanding food. The best thing about this place is that any profits go to charity! Will definitely be back, hopefully very soon!

Wishing to go somewhere with outdoor seating to enjoy the beautiful day on Saturday, a friend a I chose Ten Fourteen. We had both heard good things about it and we were not disappointed The lunch menu is really nice plenty of choice, left us picking between a number of items. I like the fact that they bring the specials board to the table, so often restaurants do not tell you about specials until it is too later. The food was really good. like the review before I had fish and chips which was gorgeous. My friend had the cajan chicken dish which had so much chicken. Good to see that this restaurant doing well.

We promised the waiter we would leave a good review, and as we found the restaurant on menupages, we're more than happy to. For the first time this year we have not felt ripped off, cracking good food, great waiting staff, clean and friendly environment. Ticked every box. 8 of us, had nearly everything from the menu and all enjoyed the flavours and textures, the cod and langoustine dish was the winner, perfection. The waiter was dashingly charming and made us very welcome, even though place was mobbed. Wine went down a little too well ;-) all in all, delighted to find it.

I was brought here with a group from work for an afternoon meal last Saturday. Nine of us enjoyed a marvellous afternoon of excellent food and wine in friendly surroundings. I was seated in full view of the kitchen and waiting staff who were exemplary in everything they did throughout. I was intrigued to see them preparing the ingredients to bake the evening's desert menu on site. Marvellous job! For the meal I chose the special with a black pudding starter and hake for the main course. I have to say that I am fussy about good food and fresh ingredients and the award of 5 stars for both plates and the accompanying wines is well deserved. My friends were very happy a variety of dishes from steak to vegitarian options. The place was nice and busy with family parties coming and going. If you have ever stumbled upon a restaurant in the suburbs of some city while abroad and found yourself asking 'why don't we have more places like this at home?' then look no further.

Well, I booked here for my husbands birthday after reading the rave reviews and overall I'm glad I did. There were a couple of negatives which I'll get to but nothing that would not make me try this restaurant again. To start I had the prawn brushetta - I had never had this dish before and as I love both prawns and bruschettas I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, even though the prawns were lovely, I found that they had smothered the bread in sauce, a little goes a long way sometimes. My husband had the chowder which he really enjoyed. Things improved greatly for the main course - I had hake which was served on a bed of mash, make sure to order a side with this if you are hungry. My husband got the duck which was excellent, it came with duck in the centre and then duck springrolls at the side of the plate. We shared a lovely bottle of Merlot and couldnt manage dessert but I had an espresso which rounded off the meal very nicely. The one other negative for us was that we arrived a few minutes early for our meal, and when the first available table came available we were seated at it but it was on an aisle with the waiters rushing past on way to kitchen and wasnt ideal for an intimate setting, this bugged me slightly as I had booked about a month in advance and would have hoped for a more relaxing spot in the restaurant. As I said at the beginning the positives do greatly outweigh any negatives and I would recommend it.

Im going to give this restaurant a really nice comment in saying i enjoyed this night as much as i have ever done in a restaurant. The cooking is understated and has that real tatse so often lost these days, very happy waitresses and they come together to offer a full package. The whole restaurant was smliing and laughing and eating happily. The duo of beef, Seared carlow fillet with 12 hour braised ox cheek, White truffle pomme pureé and parmesan veloute was just awesome.

Ate here on Sunday evening and really enjoyed it. The service was excellent as was the food. We were given a delicious pre-starter from the chef. Water was regularly refilled, specials explained in detail and both starters and mains for both of us were a excellent mix of flavours and the wine was also lovely and reasonable. Had a great time.

We were travelling from spain to visit dublin and we used menupages to locate a restaurant for us to visit. This restaurant was definitely the highlight of our dining in ireland, the fish and the meat too were delivered with obvious care and attention. Very fresh ingredients !!! with real taste !!! It was served by very friendly waitresses, the kind every restaurant should have. Our visit is now over, but we would like to go back today if we could. Thank you menupages for helping us find a real good place. ciao x

First visit to 1014 and certainly not the last! Lunch on 6th April. The tomato soup with basil oil is THE BEST tomato soup I've ever eaten. The fish n chips is to die for. The tiny jar of vinegar is a lovely touch. The spring salad with butternut squash is delicious as is the cajun chicken. Really good staff. One quibble - the cold blast from front door. The curtain contraption to stop this needs to be improved.

Have dined here 'solo' a few times, Its always busy, the staff are extremely attentive and friendly. The lunch menu is good and varied , but the evening food is a different class from lunch, I would not say its cheap but it is certainly good value. My friends ( seafood eaters) say it is the best seafood around, i'm a true carnivore and had a duck dish there before christmas that was suberb. Its for charity too.

First time here (to meet a friend for lunch). I was really surprised at how busy it was but eventually got a table after a short wait. The service was good and the menu was varied with some nice options. However my chicken was a little white looking, suggesting it may not have been of high quality. Where we were sitting, at the back, at times was very noisy with the kitchen being busy. As the place emptied of the lunch crowd the kitchen seemed louder. However I will return as it was an enjoyable eating expereince.

I went here for Sunday lunch after hearing rave reviews about it. I was so disappointed. My starter of a mushroom rissotto in pastry was very dry & tasteless, my husband's fish cakes were just ok. Our mains were very disappointing too we both felt the food tasted like really bad hotel food. I felt really sorry for a table sitting opposite the open kitchen as to me it felt like you were sitting in a chipper cafe & the smell of the deep fryer was overwhelming. On the plus side the staff were friendly but that's the only nice thing I can say about the place. One of the worst meals I've had in a long time & would never go back. Sorry!

Whisked in from the cold to a tall veil of thick curtain which keeps the Irish winter from the dinning hall, our mouths were watering with anticipation. It had been a while since we were out and during that time we had been building up a list of must-go-there's of which this was definitely near the top. The service was fast, attentive and friendly. My opener was a seafood chowder which was very well filled with all I could have asked for. I was in the mood for steak, so was disappointed to see there was no fillet on offer but the sirloin was easily up to taking my mind off the fact. Beautifully cooked and presented it has to be up there with one of the tastiest I've had. My friend ordered the 'Shoulder of Lamb' which has to have been the best I've seen a piece of lamb presented in a long time. The 16 hour slow-cook left her with a piece of meat which fell apart and was as tender a piece of meat as ever I have witnessed. Usually at this point I'm so full I can only skip desert and move straight to coffee. Here this was not the case though and I am fortunate. I was presented with one of the best pavlovas I can remember. The berry topping created a complexity of taste and texture that I will be remembering and returning for.

Everything about this place is just so so good! The food really could not be better, each time I've been I've tried something new & I've never been disappointed yet. There only fault is some things seem to be a little over priced, especially some of the wine listed, However the food & atmosphere well make's up for this. I love it & I'll be back over & over again!

Visited ten fouteen with my boyfriend one evening for an early bird as we live close by. The service was outstanding, the hostess was very good at her job, and made everyone who walked through the door feel really welcome. There was a slight mixup with my order, which was rectified in seconds, and a complimentary side dish brought down which was a nice touch. The food itself was fantastic also. Great food, great value, great service.

My husband & I tried Ten Fourteen for the first time on Saturday night after just moving into the area. We are really lucky to have such a fab restaurant so close by! The atmosphere was really nice and the food lovely - I had the fish & chips and himself had the scallops special and both were SO fresh. My only criticism is that the prices might just be a bit steep for what you get (€18 for fish & chips and €27 for 6 scallops). I highly recommend this to Clontarf locals and everyone else looking for something a bit different out of the city centre.

We lurve this place so much, we became devotees last summer and have kept on eating here and bringing new friends. Yet to have a bad dinner or even a slightly sub standard one, always top notch, we get excited when the specials board is rolled over to us. All of the girls are full of smiles and the service here is very attentive, couple of very witty staff members too and a chat with the chef is always nice too. All told, this is a very very good place to go.

I had sunday lunch here with a friend. at first the selection looked sparse, but the quality was incredible. meat cooked perfectly, mashed potatoes and gravy to die for. deserts to a very high standard. pricey but for a good cause. excellent quality. would have liked slightly larger portion!

My husband and I had Sunday lunch here yesterday. For starters I ordered the bacon and tomato salad and my husband had the fish cakes, my salad arrived without the bacon although I didn't complain the salad was very tasty and so were the fish cakes. The main course was very good too, I had the fish n chips which I highly recommend and my husband had the pork. The staff are very attentive and this restaurant is great value for money we will be returning soon!!

Had a meal with in laws last week was truly delicious. Everything was presented and cooked perfectly. They seem to really put their all into this place with lots of special touches, there was a Birthday card left on our table for my Father in Law when we arrived which was signed by the staff...Sooo sweet. He was really touched. Keep it up 1014 will be back soon.

Have been to 1014 a few times over the past couple of months both for Sunday lunch and evening time and absolutely love it. It's not over priced, the food is excellent and the service is excellent to. I love their fish cakes, they are delicious and recently I had the loin of pork which was cooked to perfection. Great to see a new restaurant in the Clontarf area that gives great value for money. I brought my 3 year old 2 weeks ago and they treated him really well. They've a good kids menu with great choice and well priced too.

Our supper club went to Ten Fourteen last night. The venue was warm and welcoming and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Our party all enjoyed their choice of starter and main course and, there was a good selection of daily specials available. Very enjoyable

Ate hear recently on a Tuesday night. Restaurant was buzzy. Georgeous salads to start followed by Halibut and Braised Venison from the specials menu. Really delicious. Only negative was that it took ages to get attention of waitress when we wanted to pay. I suppose it is nice not to be pushed out the door at the end of an enjoyable meal. Will be back again soon.

definitely not worth 5 star rating, ventured on cold sunday rescently, nice cosy room, staff friendly, problem getting a able initially, rang at 11.15 to reserve a table for 4, told that no room but will check with manager and ring you back, she rang back 30mins later and informed me that table free 12.30 but we would have to be out by 2pm, hate when rushed esp when you are paying top dollar! we arived at 12.30, staff friendly, nice venue, crab cakes dreadful, potatoe cakes with a lil tinned crab, not good, pork was nice but nothing exceptional as were desert, a pleasant sunday din but would not leave ten fourteen thinking wow this place is amazing as in previous reviews. we shall venture back for sunday din in few mthscos convenient and grand for sunday roast but no wow factor and not 5 star!

For once, a restaurant that is getting alot of press, but warranted. I walked through the doors with high expectations due to said press, and i was impressed. very nice local girl serving us, food very very tasty and clearly fresh. I would comment that this establishment has a very nice vibe to it. I had the Kerry Veal, meat was incredibaly succelent and had been dealt with very well. Whilst i only popped in for a main course this time to check it out, i'll be back to do 'the whole hog' soon enough. Omar

Went here for the first time and have to say I'm very impressed. Staff were very friendly and tentative, Lunch menu although not extensive, has great variety and in times of recession, the restaurant was packed at lunch time for nearly two hours. Well impressed.

Visited for the 1st time on our third attempt to get a reservation. A really popular spot. Very nice atmosphere with extremely helpful cheerful staff. 2 of us chose the bacon salad starter. Really tasty and would def have again. Our friend had the chicken terrine which was full of flavour. We all ate off the "specials board". 2 opted for the veal. Really tender but could not see any peppercorn sauce that was meant to accompany it. It was more like a wine jus. The other chose the fish of the day which was thoroughly enjoyed. Mr. Boop had the cheese board for afters. It was served on a hot slate dish that was supposed to make the cheese more enjoyable. My "homemade" ice cream was a bit disappointing as was a bit on the sharp side and did not taste homemade. The creme brulee was not like a traditional one. It was more like a mousse. Having said that it was a really enjoyable meal that was finished off nicely by 3 French coffees. Will def return again very soon.

Loved it here. I had the steak, melt in your mouth, it was fabulous. The other half had the Hake, and loved it too, Very friendly and in a busy environment this can be hard, Christmas time and full house for lunch. Great food and a great price. And doing your bit for charity too. Am definately going back

OMG, we loved this bistro. short snappy menu, delivered with reassurance, service was great, smiling chefs. Food really was ace, The winter salad and the chowder really shone. There was 8 of us and we all really loved it, not a single gripe at all. I had the 12 hour cooked veal cheek, my first time, i really really loved it. the service was top of the bus, the waiter described at length the specials and our menus were forgotten, a really outstanding server. i love the funky style of this place, its a larger sum than its parts i think. if i could give more than 5 starts, i surely would.-

Heard about this restaurant on the radio before Christmas and was driving by on Sunday and decided to give a go. The Restaurant was full we had no booking but got a table after about 5 minutes when another coule left. There seemed to be a great atmosphere staff were cheerfull and smiling. We had a simple yet fantastic meal so so tastly at unbelieveably good value for the standard and size of portions. 24.95 for 3 courses or 19.95 for 2. Cant wait to go back will be making a booking nxt time.

Was in 1014 for lunch for the second time on saturday. Really enjoyed both times. They bring you water without being asked and fill regularly which I like. I had the steak sandwich and boyfriend had cajun chicken salad. Both were very nice, particularly liked the chips which came with the steak sandwich. Creme brulee and sticky toffee pudding for dessert were really nice. Especially liked the plums in the bottom of the creme brulee, nice surprise. Coffee and hot chocolate were fine. Really really like this place, perfect for lunch and then a stroll on dollymount. Profits going to charity only adds to the appeal. Only slight misgivings are the size of the lunch portions, quite small, desserts were fine though. Also the first time I was there the service was quite slow, no problems this weekend. Looking forward to getting here for dinner in the near future as menu looks lovely. Highly reccommend.

My partner and I had New Year's Eve dinner here and everything was great. The service was incredible and the desserts should be outlawed they're so good. They had two people singing which really gave a great ambiance to the place. Even though my steak was very fatty, it was cooked exactly how I like it. I totally recommend pushing the boat out and eating here.

The food alone deserved a rating of five (Crab cake starters really stand out), but it's a pity I can't give a higher rating for service... There was an error with our booking, but it was the response of the staff that made it not a thing that impacted negatively on our evening, but made us feel even more welcome. Can't recommend it enough... we'll be back to this great new find.

we have just re-visited after 2 months, 2 months too long in fact. this restaurant was very good when it opened, now its just amazing ok i agree with what the critics say about the decor, but thats not why people come here. The service, the food and the smiles are why. The food is close on the best i have ever had, anywhere. the service is very friendly and characteristic. There are so many little touches, today we got a little handwritten jar of duck fat for free to roast our potatoes for x mas day, i mean, wow. Judging by the crowds here they are doing well. merry christmas

I had a dinner here about two weeks ago with my friend and I must tell I’ll never forget this dinner experience for a lifetime … My high expectations (I work as a chef) were met and even exceeded. As soon as I entered into the restaurant felt at home. Warm atmosphere, friendly but elegant restaurant, nice surroundings. Service was top class with smiling, happy informative waiter and waitresses. You can see they love what they are doing and obviously they try to do their best with success. Hats off! But the food… My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Everything was just plain and simply excellent! The homemade breads are really nice, the organic goat cheese with plum syrup is tasty and melting in the mouse, the foie gras pate with fig and apple chutney is true delight, the calamari on a slow roasted garlic plum tomato with chillie and coriander sauce is soft and tender, the tartlet of leek ricotta and truffle is full with flavours, the seafood chowder is probably one of the bests in Dublin and the duck dish is just Michelin star quality, no exaggeration , I know what I’m talking about… Congratulations and compliments for the chefs! This was the best meal out I have had in ages, just because the food was all cooked to perfection. If I visit Ireland next time, I definitely would like to come back here to collect some more gastronomic adventures! I recommend this place for all the food lovers … Very well done Restaurant Ten Fourteen !

The best restaurant in Dublin right now. Seriously, this place is amazing. We ended up here by accident for lunch and made a point of going back for dinner at the earliest opportunity. The lunch steak sandwich was a minor miracle. Perfect proportions, just the right dressing on the salad, every tiny detail seen to and coming together in a masterful whole. The sticky toffee pudding came with vanilla ice cream perched on top in an edible basket to prevent it from melting prematurely. Honestly, you can't eat sticky toffee pudding without vanilla ice cream and it amazes me how few restaurants understand that! However, what impressed me most of all on my first sojourn here was seeing the staff interact with each other. I didn't realize until I looked at the bill that this restaurant is run in aid of a charity, and I am not sure whether that has anything to do with the amazing chemistry between the staff, but something is very, very right about this place. I do hope they write a book. Anyway, on to dinner. One of our party wanted a larger portion of a starter as a main course if that would be possible. Not only was it possible, our waiter and the chef seemed to take it as a delightful challenge to make sure she had the right accompaniment of side salad with her main, and when it arrived it was stunningly presented. The rest of us ordered a duck confit with stuffing and mash which was a special that evening and ... this dish was so sublime I won't even try to describe it. There is only one catch as far as I am concerned and that is the coffee. Robert Roberts. Um... I can only venture a guess that perhaps the coffee is donated? Anyway, that is a minor, trivial complaint from an ardent coffee lover. Restaurant Ten Fourteen has, I understand, received a lot of attention lately and I can only hope that this brings them financial success without changing the wonderful dynamic of the place. Perhaps they will invest a tiny bit of this in building a double-entryway to keep the draft off the front-most dining tables. :-)

Myself and my husband and another couple went for a meal here on Saturday Evening. We arrived at 9pm sharp and the restaurant was packed. Word of mouth really is getting around for this place and all the hype was not over promised. We enjoyed every minute if our evening from start to finish. We loved the atmosphere it was very noisy but we could still manage to have a good natter and take in the buzz. Food was cooked to perfection and was lovely to see all the chefs working away quietly( no Gordon Ramseys here) The staff were all enthuastic and professional and had no problem with us getting another bottle of wine well after midnight. This place is my new fave restaurant... Very very well done

I went for Sunday Lunch the 23rd Nov and it was really lovely. There was a set menu and for 24 euro it was really excellent value compared to other rip off restaurants in the area and Dublin in general. I had the started of a tomato salead light and tasty and my other half had Risotto in a filo pastry. sounds heavy and strange but it was wonderful and the saidce very unusual and tasty. Mains - I had pork which I have not eaten for years. I was told by the waitress it was slow cooked for hours and this was very tasty. Overall the staff were so patient and pleasant and and at the end the chef was walking around and when leaving asdked if we enjoyed the food. I was so happy to tell him it was lovely and we will be back soon. The chef used to work at Chaper one and it shows. I also like the idea that the profit goes to a charitable organisation. Go before it gets too booked out!

Thankfully there is now a good restaurant in Clontarf. The night I went there were 6 of us and every single one of us enjoyed every aspect of the food. The service was fantastic and the decor was lovely. the only thing was that it was just a little bit noisy but that was because of the people beside us and not the restaurant. What we liked was that we could see the chefs working away and also at the end of the night cleaning the kitchen. I will be there again very very soon and have recommended it to other people. Its a definite place to try.

Loved everything about this restaurant! The staff were really friendly and the food is delicious. They have a great wine menu too, and all of the wine seems to be sourced directly. Excellent value, we had three courses (including scallops, Sea Bass and Steak), two bottles of wine and tea and coffee for less than €50 each. I'll definitely be back again and again.

Was in on Tuesday night and was suprised to see it was full on a Tuesday. Have been in a good few times now as it's just up the road and the food was great as always. Had the goats cheese in filo pastry for a change and was very pleasantly suprised, wouldn't usually be my thing but had tried nearly everything else. Service very friendly as usual. I'll certainly keep going back.

Was very surprrised to see such good feedback on menupages. I'm a local and had heard very mixed reviews about this restaurant so on Sunday we decided to go in for lunch. We were greeted and asked if we would like them to put our coats away. The restaurant was very empty and we were given our menus. However we realised they only had a dinner type menu and as we only wanted soup and a sandwich we waited (ages) for our waitress to come back to take our order. I asked her if it was possible to get soup and sandwich and was told, quiet rudely, that they only had dinner menu available. I apologised and said we weren't quite that hungry and may come back another time. At that stage she just walked off and left us there and didn't even offer to get our coats. There was a couple at the table next to us who had the exact same experience just as we were leaving. I felt the staff were rude and the level of service was terrible given that there were only 4 tables occupied. I would never dine here.

Had an amazing meal here on Wednesday. Heard about the restaurant a few times from friends and family must say was better than I could have expected. Lovely blazing fire in the centre of the room and very friendy service. The place had a lovely atmosphere and we both enjoyed every bite of our meal and yummy wine too. Will be back for a family meal before Christmas, Cant wait.

Enjoyed 1014 on a sunday night recently. Staff very friendly without being in your face. Starters were lovely. For mains had the lamb shank which was braised an hour short of perfection. Very pricey for a glorified cafe.

We joined this menupages forum after using it to find a clontarf restaurant, we were very impressed with the menu pages system, it helped us to find our new favourite restaurant. restaurant ten 14 is very very good. we had our father's birthday here a few weeks back, we got a happy birthday song from the staff with a free little cake with a candle ( dad acted morto but was secretly chuffed). Everything about the dining experience was lovely, a really nice bunch of staff. the manager and the chef go further than i have ever seen before to ensure your happy. the food is top notch, the service great and experienced. im going back tomorrow, can not get the lamb shank and pavlova out of my head.

I was impressed with the friendly service, the quality of the food and the value. My only disappointment was with the steak that I had. It wasn't the leanest piece of sirloin I have ever tasted. However, the starter of bacon salad with mango was outstanding as was the sticky toffee pudding dessert. I'll definitely be back - however I'll have a different main course the next time

We have visited Restaurnat 1014 on a number of occassions and always found it excellent. The Food tastes great and is well presented, the waiters and manageress are very efficient and friendly. Their Sunday Lunch is fantastic and the kids are made feel very welcome. Will be back again. The only thing I would suggest is more of a selection for Vegetarians, especially vegetarians who don't eat fish, but apart from that it's fantastic!! Also seen on the last receipt that it is run by the Charity Caring and Sharing for people with disability which is a great idea. Well done!!

I loved 10-14. The food was out of this world especially for value for money. Went for Sunday lunch 3 adults & 1 baby & we were treated extremely well, staff super efficient & friendly. Reccomend everything on the menu & friends have been since & also loved it. Better than Rolys!

first time here today, i had heard great things and we went with high expectations. was not very busy for lunch, very surprising as this as a fabulous little bistro/ restaurant. the service was really good, friendly and helpful, the cooking aroma when we walked in was fabulous, so was the actual cooking. my husband and i both had teh chowder to start, now this was revolutionary, we have never had a chowder like this, no flour, no split thick sauce and over cooked fish, a really elegant soup with hunks of fish and clams, it was so colourful, like a walk on the beach. for main courses we had teh steak sandwhich and i had the cod special, both really, really good. The attention to detail is amazing. THIS WHOLE PLACE BUZZED WITH PRIDE!!! we will return, thats for sure.

We went here for lunch on a very chilly Sunday and were seated by the fireplace which we were told doesnt work. We had the fishcakes and pate to start which were both excellent, as were the mains of cod and fish and chips. Followed by dessert and two good coffees, all for €25 euros a head, this was excellent value for the quality of the food. The only downside being the rather cold dining room with its pub - like decor which lacks any character or warmth but would go back for the food.

I have just returned from Ten fourteen and I'm very surprised that it only has a ranking of 3.5. While the menu wasn't hugely adventurous the food was really well cooked. I'm a pretty fussy eater and I thought it was excellent. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and atmospherically, it was warm and very pleasant.

I went here with my sister after looking for somewhere new in Clontarf on menupages. We were not disappointed. We liked the decor, service was great from the moment we walked in and the food was lovely. Will be back.

I was very impressed with the decor & food in this new restaurant. It was warm & cosy; a perfect retreat on a cold autumn evening. And the chef really knows what he's doing. Pefectly cooked Belly of Pork. The waitresses were very friendly and accommodating. However, there was too many staff on the floor the night we were there, and a waiter kept approaching the table a little too much. Over-fussiness can get a bit annoying. Also there were no glasses of wine listed on the wine-list & these had to be called out to us. Small gripes & ones i'm sure they will iron out over time. All in all, i would definitely recommend.

A colleague of mine told me about this restaurant and I decided to go this evening with a friend. From the moment we arrived, the waiter showed excellent service and dedication. He showed us the specials, one of which, I was attracted to straight away, the rack of lamb. My starter was to die for, a salad, very similar to Caesar salad, with butternut squash and vine tomatoes, simply devine! My friend had the seafood chowder, which was really amazing. We both had the lamb and it goes without saying that the lamb was tender and washed down beautifully with a bottle of Fleurie, a French delight! I will definitely return, a great addition to Clontarf!

Went here for a meal with my flatmate last Sat as it was absolutely lashing out and we were VERY glad we had ventured out of the house! Went at about 8 without a reservation and seemed to get the last table in the place. We got lovely homemade bread as soon as we had ordered and then a complimentary calamari appetiser which was a really lovely touch. We had mussels and the warm bacon salad to start and then both had steaks for main which are HUGE! We only just had room to share the pavlova for dessert - all the food was really, really tasty and we got extra veg alongside our chips so there's no way you would leave still peckish! Only minor complaint was that the mussels weren't the best as there were quite a few still unopened but i didn't mind as the portion was huge and the sauce very tasty! A lovely casual place where they do the simple things very well

I visited this restaurant for Sunday lunch - 20 euro for two courses and a coffee. The decor is a little off putting - it seems more like a pub/cafe than a restaurant. The waitress was pleasant but needed more English lessons. The food was very tasty. I particularly liked the risotto cakes. The chicken pie was full of flavour but was too small for partner with a very healthy appetite. My fish was also very small but the beurre blanc that came with it was really well made. Apart from a few snags it is worth a visit!

Was looking for somewhere special to go for my Boyfriends birthday and after reading the reviews on menupages I attempted to make a booking and was advised that they had 2 seating's 7pm or 9.15pm I didn't really like those times and tried to make a booking for 8.30 which was unavailable I was told they only do the 2 settings on a Fri and Sat night and it was to accommodate everyone as they were so busy? I decided to opt for the later as I didn't want to be rushed. We arrived at 8.45 and was welcomed and seated immediately. We had a beautiful bottle of the house wine at only 19Eur. The staff were extremely friendly and professional and every table was given a complementary starter from the chef a small pate on toast it was really delicious and should go on the menu. I had soup of the day and my beloved the House Chowder both were a meal in themselves. The chowder was full of chunky pieces of fish soaked up with fresh soda bread. For mains I had the special lamb shank which was to die for, melt in the mouth the staff joked that the chef had been standing over the pot all night. He had a huge juicy steak with a delicious buttery sauce cooked perfectly and served with chunky homemade chips. We also given extra veg and potato side orders as requested without being charged. No room at all for dessert but must say the pavlova looked divine. But the biggest shock of the night was when we got the bill and found out that this little masterpiece is completely owned by a charity that care for Disabled people. Well done and keep is up. Will be back in a couple of weeks to celebrate my birthday

This newly opened restaurant has opening teething problems. The food is fair enough; the service is erratic and the staff inattentive and poorly trained. The wine list could be better. The food is tasty and nicely presented and the room itself is warm and cozy. We will try again and hope for improvement.

we have been here a few times now, i really enjoy it it makes me happy its not either another place serving deep fried food or trying to experiment and getting it wrong, its not pushing boundaries with concoctions, but rather sticking to doing old favourites very well, this time i had the crab and lamb shank to follow, both exactly what i dream of whilst driving home to a pot noodle after work. the sticky toffee was really superb, light and fluffy , not stodgy at all. service is always very very friendly even when busy, there is a lot of nice touches here too. its not three Michelin star but it is a shining star in how to do it well.

Went for Sunday lunch to Ten Fourteen last Sunday with my family, it was my first time to visit this restaurant and was very impressed. The staff were very friendly and the menu was quite varied for sunday lunch. We had various starters I had the pate which was gorgeous and my partner had the crab cakes and they were equally delicious. Our mains were the fish and the beef, the beef was to die for, it seems to be slow roasted and was nearly falling apart absolutely beautiful, so much so that one of our group asked for a second helping which was no problem and came to the table quite quickly. The fish was lovely as well and was accompanied by creamy mash and veg. The deserts were also very nice, we had a selection of chocolate moose, ice cream and apple strudel all equally delicious. A lovely restaurant, lovely staff and fab food, will definitely be back.

Enough with the Rhubarb!!! Ok it's in season...I get it...BUT WITH EVERYTHING??!! First visit here today. Ordered mineral water and checked out the menu. Nice choices and we decided on Foie Gras terrine with Rhubarb and salad. It was very good indeed. My friend opted for a chicken dish and I opted for Belly of Pork with crackling and a port jus and of course Rhubarb. Asked for Colcannon mash and was served mash. (even though there was a mound of mash already on my plate) I asked the server to exchange the mash for the colcannon that I had ordered. What returned to me minutes later was a bowl of mash that had minuscule amounts of cabbage and cold ham throughout! Obviously the ham was taken from the fridge and just mixed in with mash potato in a hurry..(Ham job at its best) It was tasteless. THIS IS NOT COLCANNON so do not sell it as if it were. Pork dish was quite good however. Desserts were .... Rhubarb crumble of course. Declined as I was afraid I might OD on the weed! What really gets my goat is this is yet another restaurant that does not serve bread automatically when seated or with starters. Why have they got side plates for in this case??!! Service was adequate and friendly. I'll try it again....sometime....perhaps....

I was part of a party of 8 that visited 1014 last night. It was the first time for all of us. We ordered a variety of items from the menu some of which were unavailable or down to the last one. The items which were already sold out (and it was only 9 o clock) included crab pancakes (1 left), lamb shank & creme brulee. Among the starters we had the mussels which were tiny and tasteless though the sauce was ok, risotto cakes were dry and overcooked, the one remaining crab pancake was very nice and there were no complaints about the soup. For the mains all the comments about the fish dishes were very positive, I had fish and chips which were really good. The pork belly however was disappointingly dry and very tough. Desserts were good except the ice cream was not served as described on the menu, with no apology. My major gripe was that coffee was served before dessert, not acceptable. Service was fair, our water was topped up constantly but we were not asked if we needed anything else or if everything was ok. The wine list was well priced and the food was not overly expensive (beware the obligatory 12.5% sc however). Not sure if I would return.

Myself, my girlfriend and another couple went to Restaurant Ten Fourteen last night. The awning outside was down and with the red and white stripes looked like the exterior of a butcher's shop. A friendly waitress greeted us and asked if we wanted a table by the window or at the rear beside the counter. We chose the latter and it allowed us to see the chef in action. He seemed to be very calm although admittedly the restaurant was only half full. I had the goat's cheese salad with plum sauce to start. The cheese portion was large but there wasn't enough salad. The bacon salad with butternut squash was very well presented and tasty. The potato tartlet could have done with more seasoning. For mains three of us had the Carlow steak which was cooked exactly as requested. The Bearnaise sauce gave it a nice kick and the chunky chips were excellent. The Monaghan chicken with champ was bland. The side dishes of diced parsnip and carrot were a throwback to the 70s and were left untouched. The lonely piece of broccoli on top wasn't popular either. For dessert three of us had sticky toffee pudding, which turned out to be toffee cake with a tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream. The cake was delicious. The assortment of ice cream was vanilla, chocolate and strawberry - not exactly adventurous. The bill came to €160 including soft drinks. We didn't have the wine although the wine list looked ok. The profits all go to charity and all in all this is a very good local restaurant. The waitress was a bit clumsy but knew the menu very well. I will certainly be back to try some of the fish main courses which looked interesting.

Went to 1014 with 7 others and had a great night. All very happy with food & service. Staff friendly & attentive and the chef came out to chat which was nice. Chowder got rave reviews and calamari was crisp and tasty with a wow dipping sauce. Two of us had steak, perfectly cooked with a great bearnaise sauce & lovely chunky chips. Great fish - plaice special was spot on - really fresh fish perfectly cooked. Reasonable varied wine list. Chef cooks desserts on the premises which were all really good, especially sticky toffee pud & pavlova. Overall excellent and good value for money. At the end the bill said all profits go to charity - Casa - providing services for disabled people. Made us feel better after all the pigging out! Highly recommended.

we just had the plaice with clam chowder and sirloin steak tonight. plaice was firm and cooked to the second, perfect. clams were plump and just opened. steak was rested perfectly, (could have been hotter) juicy and meaty with that picture perfect pinkness. came with great chips but the bearnaise was excellent, i can still taste it. was served by very nice staff, everything seemed like it was done especially for us. got an amuse bouche of foie gras terine, lovely. overall, a really nice place to enjoy an evening chatting and smiling. we wished we had ordered starters when the main courses had came the food was that good. house wine very nice and perfect temperature.

Had lunch here last week and am sorry to say was not impressed at all and won't be back. An uninspiring menu had me chosing a crispy bacon salad which was very small and the bacon most elusive. 12 50 for a few leaves and a shaving of cheese is not good value for money. Himself struggled to find anything tasty and ended up with gojons of fish and chips that looked like it came off the kiddy's menu and the cappicinos were disgraceful. Please people buy a good machine and learn how to use it if you want to charge over the odds for it. The staff were anything but attentive and I watched a young family left standing at the door struggling with a baby. They asked if high chairs were available and were virtually ignored. The place was cold and all the dirty dishes were left sitting on the bar counter instead of being returned to the kitchen. The evening menu looks pricey but if I want to look at dirty dishes on a counter, I'll stay home. I was disappointed as I had high hopes and was looking for an alternate in the area to the wonderful little place in the vicinity that gives you a huge and lovely salad with big pieces of chicken for just over eight euro. In no uncertain terms, we will not be back.

Loved the food, scallops to start and sea bass for main. Service was very good but the restaurant itself was very average. Although new, our (tiny) table for two had some paper under the leg to stop it wobbling on the uneven tiled floor. We were crammed into the front window seat which has a nice view but was uncomfortable and far too small . It was very warm and very brightly lit for dinner. The standard of the restaurant needs to catch with the standard of the food.

Waitress friendly, food good but I'm also amazed by the reviews I've read here. I've eaten here twice and each time felt very pushed by one of the owners (I think)who is very pushy, people will book restaurants if they want to when they want to, not if pressurised into doing so.

I'm a little surprised at the glowing reviews that this restaurant is receiving. The food is ok but I didn't find it particularly brilliant. We had Sunday lunch - Starters of crab cakes, risotto cakes and soup which apart from the crab cakes were average. Our main courses were the fish and chips, beef and pork. The pork was very nice but the fish was greasy and tasteless and the chips overdone. The veg arrived well after the main courses. The staff are pleasant and willing to help however watch out for the tables near the door as they can be a little chilly!

We had lunch here yesterday. It looks like a newish restaurant and the lunch menu in the window did not exactly inspire confidence. However, we soldiered on. It is a cold place decoration wise with a floor that you would expect to see in a butchers shop, a gaudy curved servery and an open kitchen. I always find that the tables facing the counter feel dirty and unkempt, its just a perception. We had a bacon salad and fish and chips. I was told that the fish was cod. It seemed inexpensive at €11.50 so I went for that. The cod was cut into goujons or fingers and smothered in batter with a half bowl of highly sated chips that had been left a little too long in the frier. We weren't asked if we needed water, vinegar (which I did), ketchup or anything as the waitress just plonked the food in front of us and waltzed off to put more dirty glasses and plates on the counter top of the open plan kitchen for everyone to see. We accompanied the meal with possibly the worst cappuccino I have ever had in my life. Instant coffee. I feel this place was opened by someone who watches a lot of cooking shows on TV because they certainly have no formal training.

Had Sunday lunch yesterday with my husband. Ignore the crazy decor and focus on the great food. Got a table by the window with view of the bay. Great spot! we both had cod and crab fishcakes to start and everything on the plate was devoured. sometimes i find fishcakes too oily but these were delicious. we ordered organic salmon and slow roast pork belly. the pork was the winner, so tasty but the salmon was very good too. both were served with creamy mash and a good portion of veg on the side. we both really enjoyed it. total bill was just under Eur40 which is fantastic value considering the quality of the food. will definitely be back!

Myself and my wife ate here last week on a Wednesday evening at 7.45pm. When we arrived, the place was a bit quiet and it is very bright inside. Still, people there looked happy. We didnt order a starter but the menu looked very nice. For mains I had the lamb shanks with a turnip and bean mash, side of creamy mashed potatoes and seasonal veg. My wife had the seabass with side of chunky home-cut fried. Everything was magnificant. Lamb and fish cooked perfectly, fries (for once) were as they said and veg was great. We really, really enjoyed it. The turnip mash was lovely and the mint sauce not overpowering at all. For desert we shared a sticky toffee pudding and to be honest I think this is the only place I was eat this again. It was amazing. While it was server cold, this added to it and you could taste the flavours in it. It was topped with hazelbuts which was a stroke of genius. We had the house red which was really nice. Service was good and they seemed nervous but it may have been early doors for the waitress. They were all really friendly and while she got out wine wrong first time everyone makes mistakes and no one died. The place did start to fill up around 8.30 and there was a real buzz in the place. We will definitely eat here again and felt that we got real value for money with top notch food. For then lighting, I would suggest investing in a dimmer switch just to add a tiny bit more but its a great place for a good dinner.

Had dinner here last night on our first visit. We decided to skip starters as nothing jumped out and they were overpriced. Our main courses were delicious and cooked as ordered.I will return for the delicious seabass.A side order of fries was a bit limp. The place is a little noisy due to the hard surfaces but the staff were pleasant and service was very good.I would change some of the starter options and lower the prices by a euro or two.Overall though, it's a welcome addition to Clontarf.

Four of us had lunch here last Sunday and the four of us were very impressed, the staff were attentive, the food of an excellent quality. I really enjoyed the chicken liver pate with foie gras. If you are a strict teetotaler do not choose the chocolate mousse cake, there is a lot of alcohol in it. The sticky toffee pudding with butter scotch sauce was gorgeous. The restaurant décor may provoke debate, don’t let that put you off, the food is the reason for visiting. Sunday lunch is excellent value. Highly recommended.

Ate here last night and had the best meal that I have had in the last 12 mths!! Had the special starter, a Prawn Bruschetta, best Prawn dish I have ever had (note to chef, please put this dish on the main menu). Succulent, perfectly cooked rib-eye steak to follow with fabulous home-made chips. Desserts to die for. Added to spectacular food, friendly staff and great ambience........would highly recommend this place and am already booked again for saturday night. Faultless!!

Fabulous - from the initial telephone enquiry where I was speaking to an extremely friendly girl until the last morsel of dessert was consumed. Four of us had Sunday lunch here, we had 4 different starters, four different mains and two different desserts and every plate went back empty. All the staff and the chef were so friendly and welcoming it was a pleasure to dine here. A special mention for the sticky toffee pudding cake with hot butterscotch sauce - it was out of this world. The only improvement I would suggest is a bit more choice for vegetarians.

Visited here the other night with a large group. Between us we had almost every dish on the menu. The menu is fairly short, but I'd rather a short menu with every dish done well than a huge menu that's hit and miss. The steaks were great, both the rib-eye and the fillet and cooked exactly as ordered. The homemade chips really were a highlight. The colcannon with the chicken was really tasty. The fish and chips and the sea-bass were tasty and very fresh. With a wine list that offers some very reasonable choices, this is a place i will revisit...next week in fact.

Clontarf finally has a decent restaurant!!!!! The food is great and at those prices you cant go wrong. I had the opportunity to dine last month with my wife and two young boys. From the moment we entered we were made fell so welcome. As we would dine out quite often with the kids we know what we want, a family dinner quickly served with no fuss and that's what we got. The menu is varied and seems to cater for all types those like me and those that want to make a special night of it ( they have the decor just right). I have recommended this place to so many people and continue to do so as I just love the idea of friendly staff, good food, great surroundings and a head chef that comes onto floor to check on his guests.

Lunch. Standard fare in amusement arcade decor. Very expensive for quality of food. There are better options available in the area, it could be difficult times if things don't change.

A very welcome new enterprise to Clontarf! The interior is very warm and beautifully decorated, Good Luck cards sitting a top an original fireplace. Service was excellent and quick. The food was not a disappointment at all, my starter of risotto and mushroom cakes were to die for, mussels also superbly cooked - if lacking a side bowl to place shells in. Main course of a lovely tender rib-eye steak was beautifully rare accompanied by delicious hand cooked chips. Menu was a bit too short for my liking but I would forgive them anything for the amazing chocolate dessert! I will be returning to sample the rest of the menu.

Choices limited on mains and quite pricey. Portions small.Food presentation could be improved on some dishes. Sides extra. Its early days and hopefully things will improve.

Newly opened Restaurant 1014 is a welcomed gem to the north side culinary scene. French bistro-style decor with a modern Euro-Irish menu that doesn't disappoint. The service was excellent and the hostess friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself can be a bit noisy, but this is quickly overcome once the food arrives. We had two starters, two mains, one dessert, two coffees and a bottle of house red- all for under €85 (ex. service). I'd recommend the ham hock starter- really meaty with a wonderful apple compote.

Ate here last night. It was fantastic! We shared the Mussels as a starter which were wonderful, (real butter in the sauce). Both main courses were wonderful (i) fish and chips and (2) swordfish. The staff were very good and extremely friendly. They might need to check out the speaker system though, it was a little too loud. Keep up the good work!
