A little gem in Balbriggan i love Italian food and the atmosphere and decor is very relaxed, The prices are resonable and portions are more than generous, The staff are very friendly and always make you feel very welcome.

I have been to Castellina Chianti on two previous occasions and I really want to like it. The service is friendly, however, there are one or two problems here which need attention. The food is ordinary and the restaurant is cold. They operate a delivery service and on my last visit, the delivery guy came in and out (the rear door) on a number of occasions, causing a cold wind to blow through the dining room. Neither myself or my partner removed our coats for the whole meal. There was a table of four ladies near us who also kept there coats on. We all asked the waiter to do something but to no avail. The prices here are reasonable and the wine list has a nice selection of value wines. Castellina Chianti has to make its mind up - do they want the customers to come for the service or stay home in the heat.

I ventured out with my husband on a very cold dark night to this restaurant. The restaurant could have been a little warmer and brigher! Im all for the intimate setting with the candles, but seriously, I could hardly see what I was eating, My starter was bruscetta which was served on a burnt peace of toast with very little goats cheese! I had to return my past as it was literally lying in a bed of olive oil! My husband had a delicious fish cake starter and a lovely pizza. Wine was good, beer went down swimingly so overall it was an OK experience!

absolutely love this place. Food is fab, service is great, very friendly staff and very reasonably priced too. I go here at least once a month to meet up with the same friends and we have never had a problem with any part of the meal. The pizzas are devine - hightly recommend this restaurant.

I still love Castellina Chianti - couldn't recommend it enough! Their early bird is great value, we've never been disappointed by the food, it's always good hearty portions packed with flavor. If you haven't tried them yet - what are you waiting for!

I recently went here after being a regular when they first opened a few years ago. I was a bit disappointed! the service wasnt great and they made it clear that one of my friends who has gone twice in last month would get preferential treatment as she was a "regular". After ordering all the other starters came out yet mine was forgotten! so had to wait a few extra minutes. The food was good although I had the bruschetta to start which I found was far to big a portion could of had it for my main!! And the bread wasnt toasted but it was nice. For my main I had Penne Arrabiata which was very spicy and I could not eat it another member of our group was the same. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice although the tables for 2 are quite close together which I found off puting. All in all I would have given this restaurant a much better review a year ago but was not impressed on the visit.

I ate here with a group of eight and I will not be rushing back anytime soon. The food was mediocre, and did not seem fresh, the prawns I had very obviously frozen and cooked long before I ordered them. My chicken breast was very small. The sauce that accompanied the chicken was nice but my whole plate was drowned in it. The desserts were also of the bulk order frozen variety which was disapponting in a restaurant that claims to prepare its own. I would not have many goos things to say about the restaurant, the service was not fantastic either. Two of our group ordered arriabiata but found it too spicy to eat. The waiter came out and asked one of them why they did not finish it and she said it was too spicy so he said it was on the house and gave her what he described as a free dessert. He then asked the other person the same about her meal but then replied that she would not get any money off as she was not a regular! Whats worse is she goes quite often and was the one who suggested we go there! And to add to that he then charged for the first friend's dinner anyway and also charged for the "complimentary" ice cream he had given her! Needles to say I won't be rushing back for our next night out!

I have been to Castellina Chianti a few times and always got happy. The food was very good and service was always friendly. There was always a good selection of fish options. And the three courses for €19.95 early bird menu is good value. I would like to recommand.

WOW what can I say, after reading the reviews, my sister (birthday girl), her husband, my other sister and myself went to this place, it was our first visit, but not our last, I have already planned another night out soon and we will be going here for dinner, the food as gorgeous, fresh, tasty, smelled divine and looked so appealing I cannot rave enough about the food, the starters were huge portions could easily have been shared, the king prawns were huge and juicy and chicken wings (9 ) were soft juicy and tasty, the steak was nice, I asked for medium I got well done, but it was tasty and still soft so I enjoyed it none the less, a chicken with and orange cream sauce a, the fish and also the pasta were ordered all main coarses were gorgeous I am sure I saw the waiter laughing at all off us passing around our plates to each other to try and all exclaiming how each dish was even nicer then one just tried, the sides of veg were tasty, the chips OMG gorgeous and plentyful also. 4 starters, 4 main, 2 wine, 1 cappacino, 1 coke, and a dessert came to approx €120 exc tip. Service was attentive but not in your face, decor and atmosphere was lovely and relaxing and very authentic, I am a huge fan of Castellina Chianti and look forward to becoming a regular.

I think I must have been in a different restaurant than all the other reviewers of this restaurant because I have very little good things to say about it.. I was immediately impressed with the decor, had a really Italian feel to it and the placed was packed and buzzing but thats about all the good I can say. There were only 2 waiters working and we had to ask for more menus as our party of 4 were only given 2. Starters were nice, my caprese salad was lovely but we were left over an hour waiting on our mains which were so unimpressive. My sis had asked for a well done steak which was pink in the middle. Hubby got monk fished wrapped in Italian ham which in reality was two miniscule pieces of monkfish wrapped in what can only be described as a thick irish rasher and came with very stange, spicy baked beans. Horrible horrible dish and my stuffed chicken had the same strange spicy stuff on it. Desserts are not home made which I think is a big no no too. Deffo won't be back here in a hurry..

I've lived in Balbriggan for the past five year and I am so annoyed I've only found this place now, I loved everything about it - atmosphere: nice and cosy, the food choice was great, I found it hard to decide what to have. When I finally made my choice the service was brill, not a long waiting time for starter, but just enough time between main course. Very large meals mmmmmmmm - I'm going back this weekend, and prob the weekend after that. I want to try the whole menu! Also great deals at the mo

Have been here twice, once for earlybird and once for the full evening menu. Both meals were lovely, food was tasty, well cooked and there was plenty of it!! Service is excellant, the waiting staff are friendly and attentive, the earlybird is great value and the a la carte is reasonable. The only 'issue' I had was the bottle of wine we picked, it was awful but that was down to bad luck in our wine choice!!

I am a regular customer here and can't help but return again and again. The service is fantastic. The atmosphere is always lovely and you can almost always be sure there'll be the buzz of quiet converesation. Great for a meal for two or for a group. The garlic mushroom starter is amazing and they do a great pizza too. Best choice for food in Balbriggan.

Ate here last Saturday with my two sisters. We went for the early bird at about 6.30pm and the place was empty but quickly filled up after about 7...starters were absolutely divine - i had bruschetta and sis's had ceasar salad. Main was Fettucine with chicken and pesto and I thought it was lovely but portion was a bit on the big side (I hate leaving food!). sis got steak which she was not wild about but still ate it. Other sis got pasta in arribiata sauce and loved it. All in all, the service was fab - waiters were very genuine lads, not too in your face but made sure that you were ok. Wine was really nice - it was house white but went down ok. For three of us, carafe of white and two glasses of red it came in at €83. Good food, great service, will defo eat here again - and its some where I would also feel comfortable bringing the kids!

This is just the place for a relaxed meal in a friendly environment. Best attention from both waiters. Really good presentation and very generous portions. Regular once off starters and main courses make it interesting. Try the fish soup if its on - Best in the world.

A Very Pleasant Experience. Balbriggan isn't known for its wealth of restaurants, indeed we only found this one through Menupages, off the beaten track but still in the centre of Balbriggan just behind the Post Office. The food here is simple, well exactuted & full of flavour. The menu is quiet extensive so there is something for everyone. The desert menu gives the impression of pre-prepared food but that is not the case. Also in these recessionary times it is incredably cheap! 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 deserts & 3 beers all for the pricely sum of €51. The music was very good if a bit too loud. We had the place to ourselves for a good while so the waiter was very attentive and friendly. All together a very very good meal & we will certainly be back with friends.

Dined as a party of 10 on a busy Friday Night. The staff were very attentive without being overbearing. Menu had changed since the last time I visited but was suprised at how it had improved, although it was always nice! Portions were big and food was delicious. Great value for money, averaged €40 each(including several bottles of wine and tip). Cant wait until next visit and would certaintly recommend here for either a romantic meal for 2 or large group.

As regular diners out (in a party of 4) we ate here twice, once last year and we gave it another shot last week (figuring it might have improved). The atmosphere is warm and intimate, however the service on both occasions was really slow and frustrating. On the first visit the garlic bread was quite burnt (I usually don't mind if its just a little crispy burn on the edges but it was badly burnt and not at all palatable or presentable - very poor standard to expect people to eat this) they had the cheek to be annoyed when I asked could they take it back. The service was also pretty slow. The second time we decided we would chance it again to see if anything had changed. While the service was friendly enough it was still slow and the food was just ok. I know other people who dine here and swear by it but we definitely wouldn't go again.

The service was what you would expect from a top class resturant. The staff were very polite and friendly. I got a take away rather than eat in. I never eaten any food from here before although I walk by it everyday. There was always one thing that struck me about this place anytime I did walk by it whether be lunchtime or evening it always was nearly empty. I still was willing to give the place a try. I ordered the fishcake, meat balls and bruchetta. The bruchetta was ok although some strips of beef would have made it fantastic on top. The meatballs was made from low grade mince as there was lots of grizzle. It would be good if they bought lean mince and give less meatballs rather than server poor quality meatballs. The fishcake was absolutely awful.

Visited Castellina Chianti with my girlfriend.Went for the early bird menu. Was one of the most enjoyable meals we have had out in ages, can't understand why the place was so empty(maybe the current climate has something to do with that and the fact that it was a Thursday night), as this place offers great food at good prices with excellent service. Its a good location beside the train station that should get its fair share of commuters coming in to avail of the early bird after a day working in town. The atmosphere was just right and the decor is excellent, really enjoyed the wall paintings and the soft music. As for the food, we went for the early bird menu which has plenty to offer, at €19.95 for starter, main and tea/coffee + Glass House Wine you can't go wrong, the food tasted great and it was served with a smile. We will definetly be back and just hope that this place stays on the map for a long time to come. Buon appetito!

I found this place slightly disappointing. While the service was excellent, the food could have been better. The starters were very nice, but the T-bone steak was miserably thin and over cooked for my liking. There was also very little taste off the roasted vegetables - this was very surprising as roasted peppers are usually extremely tasty. I would still return and give the place another chance as the staff were so nice. Also, unfortunately this place seems to be the best of a bad bunch of Balbriggan restaurants.

I've eaten here a few times. The first two times the service was great and the food perfect but lately it's gone downhill in terms of service. They really need more waiting staff as it's not great to wait 45mins for the bill after requesting it more than once. The food seems to be better at weekends than during the week. I wonder if they have different chefs?

My partner and I have ate here on 4 occasions so far and have been most impressed on every visit. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the atmosphere and decor are in my opinion what an Italian Restaurant should be. The food is reasonably priced and there is good variety on both the food and wine menu.
