Went to a concent last night so decided to eat in the terrace cafe first for convenience. Got there at 6 so wasn't many people there but it filled up as the hours went on. Menu is good and the early bird is good value but I'm trying to be healtyish for January so just went for mains. I had the darne of salmon and my friend had the fish and chips. Both dishes were very nice and well presented. We also got a selection of bread to munch on which was a nice touch. We finished with a coffee and a peppermint tea. Bill was €60 (including 2 drinks) which is a bit pricy for the current times but it was fine.

I took my parents to a concert last night at the National Concert Hall and booked dinner at the Terrace Cafe, at the venue, prior to the show. We were able to park in the grounds of the National Hall which was very convenient for my parents. At dinner the staff were knowledgable, attentive and only to happy to answer our (many) questions about the dishes and wine on the menue. An appealling choice of food on the menue and well priced. A very good restaurant experience for us all. Highly recommended.

We arrived as rather a large group without a booking and the maitre d' was very accommodating (including when different members of our party arrived at different stages throughout the lunch). Service was fast and food good, portions are generous. My only quibble would be the prices which are a little on the high side. They do, however, have a loyalty card system whereby you get 10% off your second meal, 20% off your third etc up to a maximum of 50% (I think). This discount applies to the holder of the card rather than all of the diners and it's not always offered at the end of a meal so worth asking for! The only thing I could suggest for improvement is that water be served in a jug or carafe rather than by the glass; one can wait for quite a while with an empty glass.

We ate here on November 9th before going inside to a showing of Brian Eno's "Apollo'. The lighting is quite bright and it's slightly reminiscent of a staff canteen. However, the food more than made up for that. We both ended up ordering the same food, by chance. A fish cake to start and then a special that was on that night, a beautiful hake with a kind of asian rice and lovely Thai style sauce. We had one bottle of reasonably priced Montepulciano as well. The food really surprised us, we weren't expecting that good quality going on the style of the cafe. Although it's not the kind of place I'd eat in again, unless going back specifically to another show, it's well worth skipping a meal in town and eating there if you're heading to the NCH anyway. The bill came to about eighty euro, so certainly not hiked up or more than you'd expect to pay elsewhere. The staff were very friendly and I'd certainly recommend this place to anyone. Nice Job!

Perfect for the Pre Symphony concert. However I have dined here a number of times and prices are high for the standard and quality of whats in offer. Service is general is good but can be a little trying especially as most of the clientele need to be out for the concert at 8pm sharp. Need to reduce prices, but I will be back.

The Terrace is a lovely spot for a pre-concert dinner - the food is simple and traditional, but really very good. Service is excellent. Prices are a little on the high side, but worth it for the convenience if you're attending a concert.

I was invited to the Terrace cafe by a regular concert pal for the Philharmonia Orchestra on Wednesday evening. The place was a buzz with People and full to the brim even in these recessionary times.there were 4 of us and I arrived late as usual at 6.30 and although it was already 3/4 full the service was fast and efficient with a delighfull waitress attending to our every need. By 7.15 we were ordering coffee's after a superb Lamb Shank, Tempura of Fish and Chips, The freshest Halibut Fillet my pal said she had eaten for years and Breast of Duck with Arabica Coffee Sauce. All in all it was great, the price was reasonable even today but the atmosphere and service was the best part. It really added to the nights entertainment and even the concert was great. We were seated in a newly decorated and revamped Iveagh Room which is part of the restaurant and had great pictures of Artists and musicians on the Walls. I'll definetly be back with more friends and may even go to more concerts also as the List seems endless for the Summer. p.s. - I noticed on the advertisement that they even offer any lunch dish for € 9.95 - mon - fri - now thats good value these days.

I had a starter, dinner, wine, dessert and coffee...and all of them were horrible. The starter was a plate of cured meat, olives, tomatoes and mozzarella. The meat was dry, the olives were slimy and the tomatoes were old and mushy. I had fish and chips for dinner; the fish was dry and obviously frozen beforehand and the chips were soggy. We could have gotten better quality at McDonalds. The wine was forgettable. The dessert was dessicated. The latte tasted like hot milk. The service was bad. But at least it was reassuringly expensive. :) I will definitely not be going back.

We had a lunch after the Derby Browne concert. First of all, the online booking service worked smoothly including a change in numbers. It was well worth booking as we were had a lovely round table (for 5) in the corner waiting for us when we arrived (10 minutes early). The service was extremely courteous, including providing extra ketchup for my cheese-burger & chips. The food was good, though quite expensive: you got what you paid for. All 3 courses were nice, though particularly the burger, but the starter and dessert were fine too. The cafe has a nice fresh ambience and is less pretentious than I expected it to be. Overall, we were delighted with our visit and have already booked to return after our next Derby Browne lunch-time concert!

Last time we have been to The Terrace Cafe was before Dame Felicity Lott & Anne Murray concert. All four of us ordered different main dishes. Mine was a beef special that was to die for! It was served with baby potatoes and lovely French green beans. My friends had fish and chips, an organic chicken and our vegetarian friend had pasta. We loved it! Definitely we'll be back again and again.

Most enjoyable experience amid such splendour - a staff who are focused on ensuring that their customers are looked after without being to intrusive - observant, pleasant - a wonderful night out. It was my first time there and I have to say I really enjoyed it and cant wait to visit again. Food devine, Atlantic Fish Tempure to die for... Thank you for a lovely evening. A Murphy

The worst food I've had in years!... and I don't say that lightly!... I've just returned home from a wonderful concert at the NCH, a place I don't frequent that often. Myself and my partner were taking our friend for his birthday so we thought it would be nice to have a bite to eat in the Terrace Cafe before the performance... BIG MISTAKE!!!... As we were running a little late all 3 of use ordered the poached egg, asparagus and Serrano ham. At €15 each, and warned by the waitress that it was just a small starter i thought it must be pretty good for that price. One tiny, over poached, and in no way free range egg arrived over 3 wilted, tasteless and chopped spears of asparagus, served on a bed of slimy ham with the meanest drizzle of hollandaise. We also ordered a couple of sides orders. The chips were half cooked and pretty much inedible. The beer was warm and over-priced, the dessert a totally tasteless cheap mousse and the service only so so. It all came to €105 and we were all still hungry. I was furious... and still am. Only that it was my friends birthday I would have sent everything back and left. I will certainly never go back and I will urge anyone who asks me to do the same. Judging by the other reviews here I'm not alone! Absolutely disgraceful, especially for the price!!!

We used to dine at the terrace before concerts, and it used to be good, if limited in the range of dishes. The last meal there, and I mean last, was before the Balfe Opera last week. It was probably the worst meal we have ever been served in Dublin. The hamburger had obviously been kept warm in a Bain Marie since lunch time. It was grey and tepid. We also had the lamb which was left uneaten, and was removed without comment by our waiter. The chips with the hamburger were good. It was outrageously expensive for this quality of food. We will not be back. This is a pity because it is very convenient, and we have always found the staff pleasant and welcoming.

We often go before a show but this was the last time. In the previous trips, what had started out well was going further and further downhill. We were served two tiny portions of lamb so tough we really just lost interest. Our salds were 'thrown' down at the table without a word. Our desserts were bland at best. This with 1 glass of wine came to 76.00€!! Who do they think they're fooling? We won't be going back. So many good places just nearby.

We ate out in the Terrace cafe for a lunch just last week and found it to be a very enjoyable experience. Very friendly service and really great good quality food. The only downside would be that the room is a bit dated but the food more than makes up for this. We had two starters to share between three of us the fish cakes and the pate, which were both lovely, and I had had the fish and chips for main course served with a pea puree and it was divine. I would definitely recommend anyone to try it.

I was meeting someone for a quick lunch; the service was prompt, attentive and friendly. The atmosphere isn't too great, but is the best it can be in the space they have. I had a main course sized serving of fishcakes (they come as starter and main), they were grand, a little salty, and as a main it was a little small, it only came with a small serving of salad, and altogether wasn't unpleasant but didn't feel like good value for money.

Even though its only open for a couple of ' post ' concert evenings its a very convenient spot to enjoy a late bite or dinner very hard to find in this area the staff are very friendly and we've often had delicious risotto's or homemade burgers etc, they used to have a free of glass of wine ' offer ' and a la carte menu but suddenly last Friday coming out of an emotionally filled ' Espana ' concert we were brought down to earth by the ' new' min 3 course ' (29.50 Euro excl wine/ water etc) after ' concert ' menu, the last thing we wanted faced with a 60 km drive home possibly through ' random ' check points en route . After much grim faced discussion they agreed to split one whole menu between two of us and yet the bill still came to over 41 E with one glass (half empty) of red Wine and a small tomato juice. Nevertheless the food was delicious!
