I've always been fond of The Porterhouse, it used to stand out as a beacon among main stream before anyone knew what "micro brewery" meant. Our recent trip though was a bit of a disappointment, we ordered a number of things to share, chicken wings (hot/spicy), onion rings, chips and scampi. Aside from the chicken wings, which were tasty but most definitely not spicy as suggested on the menu, everything else was bland and to my mind tasted exactly the same. The servings are generous and while I felt full after my meal I also had a strange unfulfilled feeling. We tried some of The Porterhouses own larger brews to accompany the meal, all of which were more satisfying than the food. I seem to remember the Porterhouse having a range of other Irish beers aside from their own brews, but I could be mistaken. Perhaps as the whole micro brewery idea has been catching on The Porterhouse have been circling the wagons and protecting their own? Not a bad idea so long as they improve the food!

Love this place, perfect for cocktails and and beers with great food. Brilliant value for money. Though I am a little frustrated coz they took my favorite item (Goat Chz Salad) off the menu :( The pizza's are huge and the wings are awesome. Location couldnt get more central either!

Very good value for money. They changed the menu since the last time I was there and it seems to have been for the better. I ordered the 3 mini burgers, which was a little dry and it could have used some kind of sauce to make it better. Chips was great. My Girl Friend had a ceasar salad which was massive and looked and tasted great. Anyways it was a very cheap dinner and I believe I might have been unlucky with the burgers, so very nice. Atmosphere was good and service was a little slow with getting the first contact with us, and showing us a table but. Minor detail... It is a pub = find your own seat, I guess...

Perfect location for a quick pint and evening dinner in the heart of Dublin city centre. Quite dark lighting inside but a good atmosphere on a busy evening. The food was exceptional for pub grub and one of the best i have had yet. On the evening menu I had spicy buffalo wings for starters. The chicken was cooked perfectly, fell off the bone and the sauce was a great accompaniment. Main course i tried the Italian ham pizza and it was amazing and very good size. I had no room for dessert but left the pub very happy with the food and the service and all for under €20.

I came here with a group of my friends and thought it was fairly average. I had the steak salad. Literally just steak with lettuce and baby tomatoes. I asked for extra dressing as it was very bland. Made no difference to the flavour. To be fair all the rest of my party were fairly happy with their food and the staff were really nice. I do like the porterhouse just wouldn't be rushing back to have food again.

I find you can't go wrong with the food and atmosphere here! The food is fairly reasonably priced for what you get. I like the sweet chilli chicken pizza for a pizza that's a little bit different (haven't come across a sweet chilli base anywhere else yet!). Their desserts are also good, particularly the brownie. There's a great chilled out atmosphere that's perfect for meeting up with friends in the evening for some food, drinks and some laughs. The only downside is that the service is a bit slow. They tend to forget about you once they give you your main meal and it's hard to get their attention.

So being the food and Beer lover that I am I have heard the aforementioned in The Porterhouses were very good but nothing could have prepared me for what i got in their Grafton street Porterhouse Central. A massive bowl of tongue tingling salt and chilli wings which had me full before an excellent Scampi and Fries. Washed down by their own Porterhouse Red ale. Yes I will return and Yes I will tell my friends.

perfect for pubgrub at lunch time. Average cost of 10 euro per mains (some cheaper, some dearer), efficient service and really huge portions. I had scampi+chips served in a lovely silver bucket, plus at lunch time, soft drinks are free! Great value for money at lunch time.

I went there for desert as I did not fancy anything in the other place I had dinner. I ordered a Latte and the Chocolate Brownie with ice cream from the menu. My friend and I took a table and the staff cleaned the table just a minute after our arrival. I actually had settled for the Belgian waffle but when I saw the brownie on another table, I got that instead of the waffle which turned out to be a good choice. The brownie was warm and ice scream was melting away. Service was quick enough with taking the order and bringing the food. I had their Porterhouse Red beer afterwards which was nice. Atmosphere is great, it's a very open space pub/restaurant with the chance of watching matches on the big screen. Cocktails are a bit expensive but they have a large selection of beers from all over the world available as well as their own brewed "Guinness" beer. Nice for food and drinks right after work.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon after some shopping in town. I opted for the Sweet Chilli Chicken Pizza. The pizza was alright but the service was ridiculously slow which really ruined what was a nice lunch. The waiter took ages before eventually coming over to take our order and the food was so slow in coming that we considered leaving. In the end the waitress dissappeared for some time when we asked for the bill and we ended up going up to the bar ourselves to pay. The poor service definately overshadowed everything else and I cannot see myself eating there again.

Would definitely visit here again, the atmosphere is good and the food is, while nothing special, very tasty. We had chicken wings which were great, and a must have if you visit. All in all will visit again.

Went here with work for some after work drinks. the atmosphere was lively which was especially nice since it was a thursday. We got a christmas platter that was supposed to serve 3-4 people but 5 ate from it an there was still a few bits left over. so definately well worth it and very tasty! Some drinks were on the pricey side but were compensated by the fact that there were others on special. overall an enjoyable experience.

Have had drinks in here many times but ate in here for the first time since it has become The Porterhouse recently. The food and service were ok but not brilliant. I had the cheesy garlic bread to start and my companion had the garlic bread. Both were good but the garlic bread was a little over cooked. My main of chickpea, tomato, and courgette stew with brown bread was ok but was a little lacking in flavour and mostly consisted of tomatos. It could have done with more veg, a good bit of spice, and more interesting bread. My companions main of goats cheese was very tasty and came with plenty of baby spinach leaves and red onion. The deserts of brownie and sticky toffee pudding were very good and extremely rich. Service was a little slow.

Me and a friend went here for lunch. Service was quick at the beginning but towards the end of lunch we had to wait a while before we could order the bill and pay. The food was nice, my pal got salad and chips and I had the chicken burger which was nice and fresh. It was quite quiet but was filling up a bit as we were leaving. Would go back but I can wait a while.

Great value, great atmosphere, and excellent micro brewery. I can suggest Chiller and temple Brau for lager lovers. A friend and I shared chips, pumpkin and feta salad and we could not finish them! Huge portions and while not the most delicious salad I’ve ever had we did enjoy it. Would go back anytime for after work craic!

Went here on a quiet thursday evening. service was good. However I was seriously disappointed by the food. I ordered the chicken, pumpkin & feta salad. When it was brought to the table it existed of few lettuce leaves and four pieces of chicken. No pumpkin or feta to be seen. I had to send it back. When the plate was returned to the table, they had just scattered a few pieces of pumpkin and feta on top of it. when I had finished I was still hungry. I will not go back here for food. Just for drinks and good atmosphere.

I have eaten at the Porterhouse many, many times but the last occasion will certainly be one of my last. I was so disappointed with the food and service. Generally - as you can see from previous reviews - i love this place. But having brought a party of 7 people I was seriously let down. Chronically slow service even though we were one of the only groups there and when the food eventually arrived it was only luke warm. I sent mine back - with little offer of an apology - but others didn't, not wanting to offend. Very Irish! Veg was hard and inedible, pizzas cold and flavourless and my steak far below par. I was very disappointed by the lack of an apology, I wasn't expecting a free meal but some gesture towards a table of 7 very unhappy and not to return again customers! plates left in front of us for almost 3/4 of an hour although we were clearly finished - albeit leaving half the food behind us. I hope things improve because it was nothing short of a joke, the whole experience.

We came here for a drink one Friday night and the food coming out to peoples tables looked so good - it was too busy to get a seat so we decided to go again throught the week. I had a pizza which was huge - couldnt finish it as hard as I tried. My partner had the medium spicy chicken wings - these were really good and just hot enough, don't think I would dare the hot variation!

Came here in a group of 7 before going to the theatre. As it was a Thursday we took advantage of the fantastic deal of pizza or burger (inc chips) for €10 which is very good. I had the smokey burger which was delicious but you def need a big appetite for it as it was huge! The waitress was very good at popping her head over every so often to make sure we were ok for drinks. All in all superb value and very good service.

I work at Trinity College, so I end up eating at the Porterhouse quite a lot. The atmosphere has changed significantly over the past couple of months - for some reason they now fancy themselves a dance club, and it gets quite noisy from about 9:00. That aside, the food is very good. They have a great deal where all burgers and pizzas are 10 euro Monday through Thursday, and with a pint or two of their excellent microbrews (which are difficult to find in Ireland, but are becoming more plentiful) it makes for a good meal. That being said, the quality of the food is variable. Sometimes the pizzas are burned, or the amount of topping that they give is negligible, but overall it is usually good. The Service is also often lacking, but this is due to the fact that they are too busy, and don't have sufficient wait staff.

Dropped in here for a quick bite to eat after work on the way to the O2 to see Ricky Gervais. Service ok although they could be doing with more floor staff as difficult to catch their attention once we had placed our order. Chicken wings were only ok - edible but was like they had been sitting under hot lamp for a while. Burger & chips were average, but chicken skewers were awful - hard as a rock & didn't taste of anything really. Sent them back, waitress said she would tell the kitchen - but not overly concerned re the issue. In fairness, they were taken off the bill but there is no way we would have paid for them anyway. LIke this pub for drinks but based on yesterday's meal, wouldn't recommend for food. (have eaten several times in Porter House in Glasnevin which is much nicer!)

I’m very surprised by some of the good reviews The Porterhouse (Central) has received on this site. I ate there yesterday for the first (and probably the last) time in a number of years. The big problem is that the food is obviously not freshly prepared – that’s just completely unacceptable, especially when you’re paying at least €10 for a dish. Our meal arrived at our table less than five minutes after we ordered – I appreciated prompt service, but that’s just a little too quick. I had a chicken burger and my partner went for the oven-baked goats’ cheese salad. The chicken had a tough, leathery exterior – I found myself picking pieces of what perhaps was once chicken out of my mouth. As for the baked goats cheese, I’ve never seen a baked goats cheese like it – it seemed to be encased in some sort of tough, chewy pastry, which constituted about 80% of its mass. The waitress must have noticed that we hadn’t eaten most of our food when she cleared our plates, but she said nothing – I guess she must be used to it. All-in-all, a very unpleasant meal and I won’t make the mistake of ordering food ever here again.

Had a great 10 euro pizza here recently. I generally go to the Parliament Street Porterhouse but gave this one a go, the beers are definitely noticably different than other bars. There isnt a chemical aftertaste, taste very organic and their food is nice.

Cheap and cheerful and filling, is order of the day in here. They have a special at moment of any burger, salad or pizza €10 Sun - Thur. We got a pizza which (12 inch) and burger. Large portions and changed slightly from menu of no chips but extra salad and extras on pizza. Super choice on beers etc. In total 1 large pizza, 1 10oz beef burger, Beer of the day x 3 and 2 Beligum Beer €38 - Great!

Had a quick bite to eat here last night (Thurs), great value good food. Its not a gourmet restaurant but it does what it says on the tin! Great pub food! burger and a pizza with a soft drink for a tenner, can't go wrong! Burger was really tasty and the chips good, nice size portion too. We were in a hurry and told the waitress, she was very friendly and brought the food quickly! Will be back again!

Love the Porter House not matter which one it is, however the atmosphere was not as good as the others. The place just seems grubby, could do with a make over. Food however was typical porter house food, cheap, cheerful and tasty. Best pub food you can get.

Went here on a friday, atmosphere was great. The service was eratic empty glasses were swiped off the table and before you could say boo the glasses were gone with the member of floor staff. Why does this happen, surely an empty glass would prompt you to ask if you wrer finished or maybe you would like another. The food was adequate I had the burger and chips, nothing special here.Chips were very sparse and the burger was good.Cant complain and I will return.

Just popped in here for a quick bite one evening after work, had only been there previously for drinks (for which the menu is brilliant!!) Everything looked so delicious on the menu, in the end we plumped for the Sombrero Pizza, which was amazing. The service was efficient, if not a little impersonal and the price was decent. Well recommend starting here for some soakage for a good night out tasting all the different homebrews!!

Ate here once or twice around the 6 Nations this year. Food and service were very good. I had the Fish and Chips and the portion size was quite ample. My companion had a pizza and found it very difficult to finish purely because of the large size of it. The Atmosphere in the place is really good, particularly around Match Days. I like the 'Plain' Stout and I love the huge selection of beers/ales/stouts/lagers they have. You will pay city centre prices for these but what else do you expect given it's location.

I regularly come here for lunch. The food is always reliable and the staff are always attentive and friendly. The lunch menu is really reasonable and offers typical pub grub that is very tasty!! It is always busy at lunch which is a very telling sign of a decent place!!!

Great place for burgers or wings with a pint. The atmosphere is always fun and the bar staff prompt. The food is a little expensive, but for right in the centre of town and having a nice pint in your hand its worth it. Selection of beers can be hard to get right if you;re experimenting but again well worth it.

Eaten here a couple of times and the food is your traditional pub fare, pretty good tho i once ordered the mustard mash and regular mash came drenched in mustard sauce. Not pleasant. Aside from that, the porterhouse has a great buzz and i once spent a most enjoyable friday night there. Packed room, great atmosphere and music.

The atmosphere is always busy here and you're lucky to find a table. We generally go just for the burger so it's a bit frustrating when people are hogging the tables with just drinks but it's understandable too... The service is usually pretty quick once you catch someone's eye however, there's always a fight whenever I ask for hot mustard. We found their smoky burger and don't need to go any further. The chips are fabulous and the burger itself is juicy and tasty. The bun is perfect for the burger (although sometimes has a day old texture) and the smoky cheese/bacon gives a gorgeous flavour. Also, can't recommend the Cosmo cocktail enough - absolutely droolingly tasty - although quite expensive! My partner loves the Galway Hooker Indian Pale Ale (which is not to be found in many places).

Have been here a couple of times most recently for Sunday lunch. Fairly good standard pub grub, selection of Pizzas and burgers. Went for the burger and chips very filling and reasonably priced. Only thing was service very slow...we were in just after the the mian lunch time rush and the place wasnt that busy. Seated for about 15 mins before our order was taken and then when we got the bill couldnt find anyine to take the money!great beer selection.

Been here multiple times, including two new years eves. It's definitely more of a kinckin' evening bar than a place to have a pint and read a newspaper (for that go to the Porterhouse Parliament St). The porterhouse sell, by far, the best beer in the country. Almost every one of the home brews is superb, and they have an extensive world menu to peruse. May I highly recommend the Porterhouse Red, Temple Brau, Plain Porter and Alt. This particular Porterhouse also sell excellent thin-base pizzas, but the rest of the menu isn't as attractive as the Parliament St branch.

First time here and was impressed. Good quality food and at a reasonable price. The service was good with glasses being regularly cleared from the table. Party of six all satisfied. They charged for a bottle of wine which we never got, however I reckon it was a simple mistake. Overall not a bad spot.

this is definately a place you can rely on - for all the good reasons. Great cocktails.. Love the pizza, very fresh and some healthy alternatives to the normal greasy serving you might get anywhere else. Chunky chips are quite tasty too... i could go on.

Was here last friday for lunch with my friend. We had a pizza and chips between the two of us. So much food and it was very tasty indeed. Slight misunderstanding with the waitress as one of them removed a reserved sign from a table a said we could sit there, while another girl came over and put the reserved sign down in front of me, and when i told her we were told we could sit there she clearly didn't believe us. Went of to 'check' what we'd said. Apart from that had a very enjoyable lunch and lovely cocktails!

I absolutely love going to the Porter House for something to eat and some good quality beer! The food is casual but of a very good quality and it's also good value. You get fantastic burgers, salads, steaks, etc, and it al can be washed down with the fantastic beers they brew themselves. I love the Porter Red and the Temple Brau, it really is stuff you can not get anywhere else! The srvice is usually nice, friendly and efficient, so, what else is there to ask for?

Was here with some friends on a Friday night for some food. It was very busy and took us a while to get a table, but the waiter kindly said he would help us get one. My friends ordered burgers, which they thought were delicious. The portions are great value, and chips are lovely. I went for one of the specials - a feta cheese and spinach calzone pizza. I didnt realise they did specials, and thought this was a great addition to the menu. The pizza was lovely, however, the side salad wasn't great. The food in Porterhouse is always great. have been many times before, and will be again!

I'd been to the porterhouse for drinks before and had had a peek at what other people were eating which didn't look half bad. So when I went on Saturday afternoon with a friend who was visiting from Scotland, I thought we'd be getting decent pub grub. We were freezing and dying for hot whiskies which when ordered provoked a blank look from the waitress. It took 4 trips over and back to the bar to get it sorted out. We should have left then! Our food was dismal, a luke warm and gloopy stew and a salad with some rubbery chicken, soggy tomatoes and globs of mayonaise as dressing. To finish it all off, they tried to overcharge us by €20 for a 'mystery' bottle of wine that we'd never ordered. Altogether disappointing.

As I go to this pub a lot for the international beers I tend to eat here mostly out of convenience once a twice a month. It is good pub food, good portions (except they skimp on the fries) and goes well when enjoying a few beers while hanging out with friends. I've had excellent service here and I've also had poor service so it is quite inconsistent. The price is OK although the €30 steak may not be worth it. Stick to the burgers, pizza, bangers and mash etc. and it will make for a good feed on a Saturday afternoon.

For pub food, this place isn't too bad but it wasn't that good either. I ordered the bruschetta for starters and it was a joke. The bread was like a bun burger and it was definitely the worst bruschetta I'd ever had. the burgers and pizzas are good but there are much nicer places to eat around the area. The atmosphere is only OK if you're drinking but can be too packed.

As a pub, I find this place too big and busy, a bit impersonal really. I would visit for some high standard pub food though, the chicken wings are very good and come at a variety of different levels of spiciness. The burgers are usually good, although you're doing well if you have more then 10 chips on your plate alongside it. For instant satisfaction, I always go for the steak and cheese pizza, which I can't get enough of. The base is thin and crispy and is balanced just right with toppings for maximum enjoyment and flavour. Would recommend for good, cheap food. The vast array of beers available is now just a gimmick in my opinion.

The Porterhouse is a personal favourite of mine. The food is usually top class. I would highly recommend the Smokey Burger and the Pepperoni Pizza. The bar is very lively and on a Friday or Saturday evening it is very easy to stay the night if you're lucky enough to get a table. The cocktails are great! One criticism - the waiting staff have been rude on more than one visit.

Don't expect this place to be quiet at anytime. It is a pity as it is a great place with loads of space. They need to make sure the back is only for food as they have a good menu and need to provide a place for people to enjoy it. Sausage and Mash was lovely, just need a bit more mash please. House Italian white nice not to dry. Had the chocolate fudge brownie, prefer it a bit warm but ok. Nothing to rave about, just nice comfort food.

Porterhouse menu is perfect for a proper, comforting, fill up meal with a pint. It can be hard to get a place to sit and although (in my experience) the waiters have been attentive enough, they haven't been very plentiful!! So you have to make yourself known to be served. Highly recommended: Beef 'n' Stout. So delicious, great quality fresh ingredients. Always a pleaser, I always come back. Their fish in beer batter is unbelivable too. Well worth the money (reasonably priced). Perfect for the colder months!

Have eaten in the Porterhouse on many ocassions due to its handiness to my place of work. it's always very busy at the weekends. This was my first time dining in the Porterhouse, and I wasn’t impressed. My husband got the baby back ribs which were one of the "specials" that day but there was nothing special about them. They were bland and tasteless. The burger wasn’t great, the tastiest thing about it being the bacon on it. We didn’t bother with dessert.

11 of us dropped in here after work before going to see a comedy gig yesterday. The waitress was extremely helpful, as we'd only managed to find seats in the bar area, she took note of our numbers and got us a table very quickly. We'd explained we were in a rush, and she was very attentive and speedy serving us. Everyone enjoyed the food. The menu is better than your average pubgrub by a mile. The tandoori pizza was a huge hit, very imaginative. Others mostly had the burgers, I like that you can choose either beef or chicken for all of them. The chicken salsa burger was delicious, as were the chunky chips. All had good portions and very tasty indeed. Washed down with the lovely beer, we managed our aim of getting in and out in under an hour, and all left thouroughly statisfied. Not the place for a romantic lingering dinner, but great for some quick, tasty and filling grub, at very reasonable prices.

For a place that prides itself on passion for craft-brewed beer, you would expect the same level of zeal about the produce they serve on their food menu. Sadly however, this is not the case. The food is generously sized, but stodgey and lacklustre. It is unimaginative but well priced and service is efficient, if lacking in personality. Far too noisy to be an enjoyable dining experience, it is more of a 'grab on the go' menu than one you would languish over.

Went here a few weeks ago for dinner after work, food was jus massive, the burgers where more than enough. The atmosphere was bad, service was equally as bad, it was only a Thursday night and waited 20 min to be served after asking twice could we order. The price was great for the size of our burgers and general satisfaction after we'd finished.

The food was very good, although not amazing. Pizzas are tasty, but a bit more toppings wouldn't go amiss. The burgers are impressive. Hard to get your hands around let lone your mouth! The staff are all foreign so communication can be slightly difficult if you do not have a second tongue. The drinks are very varied but they are a bit too much up their own asses with the whole only Irish brewery rubbish. They sell a wide range of bottled beers from foreign places, and not all are past their best before date. Leave it at that and you will not be disappointed.

Ate there several days ago. Food was horrible. I opted for a salad, trying to be healthy, but it was the unhealthiest salad I've ever tasted. The chicken and bacon were so greasy and salty....the dressing was bland......it just wasn’t a good meal. The restaurant also stank of vinegar! Plus, our table was dirty. When the waitress came to take our order I was cleaning the table myself with napkins but she didn’t bat an eyelid. Its expensive for what it is. McDonalds is better. Sorry Porterhouse!!

Didn't like Porterhouse Central at all, it is the exact same as what was there before, would not recommend it for food or drinks, particularly at weekends as it is crazy, even though I have no idea why?!
