I went here with my husband for Valentines and I was delight to know that they were doing the regular menu as well as a special Valentines one. Too many restaurants do a set Valentines menu with mediocre food and rushing customers out as soon as possible. The staff were very friendly and accommodating I ordered the Goats cheese profiterole which was delicious and my husband had the smoked salmon salad starter with a creamy sauce and juicy cherry tomatoes. For mains I had the delicious vege option of pasta with toasted pinenuts, and sun dried tomatoes in a cream and white wine sauce my husband had the corn fed chicken in a lovely butter tarragon sauce with asparagus and baby potatoes. We pushed the boat out and each got a dessert I had a lovely buttery rhubarb crumble and he had the most divine white chocolate cheesecake. Our meal came to €67 with a bottle of wine also. I throughly enjoyed it the service, food and atmosphere. I will come again

My boyfriend and I went here for an early bird which seemed like good value. But were were a little disappointed. The staff were rude and unfriendly and acted like they didn't really want us there. The place was absolutely packed and the food was nice, and quite good value, but the attitude of the staff would really put me off going back.

Had a nice sunday brunch here. Laid back atmosphere good for curing the head from the night before. Food is tasty but not amazing, the Lamb burger was my choice and is good for lamb lovers like myself. Desert was lovely, raspberry and whit choc cheesecake. The wine is good but a little expensive per glass I feel although unfortunately not unusally so.

Myself and my girlfriend ate here after spending the day wandering the city. We were seated at the back, comfy and nicely decorated, however the spot light shining in from the lane behind could have been covered with a curtain guys, blinding! I ordered the Dublin Bay Prawn starter, what arrived were 3 to 4 of the smallest DBP I have ever been served, at least 2 had not been de-veined. This is a dish I have enjoyed in many eateries, I simply could not accept the dish. The helpful waitress took them back to the kitchen, slightly embarrassed. My girlfriend meanwhile enjoyed her chicken wing starter, the sauce was spicy and very tasty. I waited about 10 minutes before the waitress came back with basically the same prawn dish, de-veined and one extra tiny prawn, the creamy white wine sauce was lovely it has to be said. For mains I ordered the Cod Rissoto, unfortunately the rice was overcooked, far too mushy, the cod tasteless really and the salt content was heavy handed to say the least. I could not eat more than two mouthfuls. My Girlfriend had the Pork Belly, well cooked and well presented, however the bed of mash was all a bit watery and lacked flavour. When the new waiter asked how our meal was I informed him of our feelings, the plate told the story of my mains. I was soon presented with a slice of cheesecake (tasted like fridge) not freshly made, I neither wanted nor desired this and felt it a poor attempt at redemption. Non the less I thanked the waiter. On arrival of our bill which had nothing deducted, poor form, I called over the waitress, explained my disappointment with the courses and soon the bill returned with my mains removed. All in all a bad show, great location, great wine list (they have Picpoul de Pinet :) but some really stark food mistakes and no proper recognition of these on the night. Jury is out.

I ate here in November for the first time. I booked knowing nothing about it other than what I read on the site and I have to say I was pleased. I organised the dinner for 4 girls and I feel everyone was pleased withe the food, all plates empty at end of dinner. Its small but we had lovely table down back. The service was very good and friendly, The food very tasty and good Value. Even the fussy eater could find something that suited. The special's were espically good. Nice place for meeting for chat and good food without breaking the bank Maybe not for the very special night out.

Ate here with three friends last night and was impressed. Food was georgous, from the goats cheese profiteroles to the white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, and the all night 'early bird' made it excellent value. , Service was excellent, friendly and efficient throughout. Will defiitely be back!

Spotted this restaurant on the way to a gig in the Olympia and decided to give it a try. The food was amazing. I had goats cheese profiteroles to start and crackling pork belly for main. It was amongst the tasiest food I ever had. Plate lickingly delicious. The service was excellent. We hadn't booked, so the server informed us he would need the table back in an hour. As the hour approached we didn't feel rushed or harried. I have just booked to go back there with a group of friends in two weeks. Highly recommend it

Had an early bird here before a gig on a Friday night. We shared a starter, had a main each and shared a dessert. Lovely atmosphere, friendly and attentive service. Food was delicious. Wings starter was spice and tasty, I had steak cooked to perfection and my husband had a very tasty burger, we shared some blueberry cheesecake for dessert and we couldn't complain about anything. All very tasty, generous portions and good value for money. We will be back.

I've been to the larder a number of times and have always had an enjoyable experience. The waiting staff are very pleasant, something that unfortunately can be hit and miss in many Dublin restaurants. The food is tasty, if a little safe and underwhelming. Overall though, its a good little spot for a relaxed meal.

We arrived here on spec on a Saturday night and, though they couldn't seat us immediately, we were promised a table if we came back in twenty minutes. We were seated straight away on our return and the service was prompt and pleasant all evening. For a shared starter we had the mysterious Dukkah - spicy chopped nuts that were served with bread, oil and olives. It wasn't clear how the nuts were meant to be eaten, as they were too chunky to use as a dip yet too fine to eat with your fingers. For my main course I chose duck breast with potato and watercress cake. The flavours were good but the whole dish was overcooked, making the duck quite rubbery and the cake dry. My companion muttered that his lamb shank was overcooked too, and under-seasoned (which it was) though it was obviously good quality meat. The food is reasonable value, though charging the same price for penne with sundried tomatoes as for duck seems a bit cheeky. It's a promising place but it seems that someone in the kitchen is just not interested enough to make this really work.

Overall I would say it is very average and there is probably better value out there. The service was efficient and when the first wine that was ordered was not satisfactory the waitress took it back without any hassle and allowed me to re order to which we enjoyed a gorgeous bottle of wine. The dublin bay prawns could have been a very special starter however they were not deveined. The pork belly was far too dry and overcooked. When the seville lady dessert was ordered we were never informed they had run out of candid orange etc so it was just a slice of chocolate dessert on its own. I think this establishment has potential however with a lack of attention to detail its just not there yet.

Went in here on whim as we swa the steak deal advertised. We shared a Goarts Cheese and caramalised onion starter. I had the steak, which was really tasty -very tender and well cooked, served with side slad and gorgeous chunky chips. My friend had panfried cod served with risotto (and foam!) which was also very good. We split a cheescake for dessert and it tasted moreish. Very good value, nice staff. I'll be going back here again¬

5 of us went in here on a whim as there was a great deal on the board outside - €10 steak! Weren't expecting much for 10 euro, but it was absolutely delicious, melt in your mouth, with a very tasty side salad and chips. We were the only ones in the restaurant but that may have been because it was half 9 on a Sunday evening! Would definitely come back :)

There were four of us for dinner last night and we had a great meal which was also excellent value. My main of morrocan sea bass was delicious and my only gripe would be the nan bread wasn't a hot as I expected it to be. The wings for starters went down very well as did the lamb shank which fell off the bone. The service was very good and the wine list, refreshingly reasonable. We will go back.

This place is really good value with attention to detail - we all had the €15 early bird - two of us the smoked salmon salad, which was great with lots of leaves and a nice dressing. The dips with houmous and olives was really nice too and the bread that came with it was unusually good (a rarity in Ireland). Two of us had the cod risotto and it was truly delivious - perfectly cooked fish and nicelyy cooked risotto with lovely flavours and intense blobs of a sundried tomato sauce around the edge - yum yum. Our friend had the salad of pears, caramelised walnuts, lambs lettuce and rocquefort - this was a problem though as it arrived as a huge plate of only rocket leaves, and so much rocket that the other ingredients were totally lost. Firstly it did not have lambs lettuce at all as advertised and secondly hot rocket leaves alone do not make a main course salad. However, my friend did not wish to complain. WIth a few glasses of really lovely house wine at €6 a glass, the bill was pleasingly low and we will definitely return!

I had to give this place five stars - the first five stars I have given to any restaurant in Dublin. One reason - I really like the atmosphere, the décor is trendy but makes you feel comfortable. The staff are always with a smile and happy to serve. Now the food - I want to stress my crestfallen realisation when I left the States that wings would never be as good in Ireland. This is a mistake. The Larder has the best wings in Dublin - by a long shot. They are crispy, spicy and tasty all at the same time. So much so that although I have already been today, I have to take one of my friends back there this evening to prove this! The blue cheese dip with the wings is nothing like the processed excuse for a blue cheese sauce normally served either. I also had the steak - well seasoned and with a lovely dollop of garlic butter on the side. The chips were a little greasy - probably wouldn't get them again but I could care less. I had Aspall cider with the meal which is great too.

I've been to 'The Larder' a number of times over the last 3 years and my experiences have generally been good. I'd a delicious ribeye steak with blue cheese sauce and frites one evening last year and I devoured a truly divine slice of quiche (with a selection of 3 salads) in the cafe more recently. Yesterday I popped in at 11am for a coffee/muffin combo (€4.40) and I can only describe the cinnamon and orange edible boulder of scrumptiousness served to me as sublime. The coffee is as good here as it is in "bar italia' or 'piccolo's'. The service has improved immeasurably over the last couple of years too (but that's a tale for another day).

I went here for lunch with a friend, and the food was amazing! I had the roast chicken and smoked apple wood cheddar sandwich with two salads and she had the chicken and chorizo penne. I also had the hot pot starter special that was beautiful! For dessert we had Death by chocolate and it was lovely, but rather dry. Unfortunately the service left something to be desired. When we first walked in, it was unclear if we were to just walk to any table or had to wait to be seated. Despite making eye contact with several servers, we eventually just chose a place. We also didn't get our menus until we had been seated for about 10 minutes. While there were about 4 servers around and it was the end of the lunch rush, it was hard to grab any of their attentions to order! On the plus side, when we did eventually order, the server was lovely, but blunt, but our food came quick! I will visit again because the lunch special was a great deal, amazing food, and super filling. I was so stuffed I couldn't even have dinner! But hopefully the bad service was simply a fluke and will not repeat itself.

We went here shortly after it had opened and where very impressed. Unfortunately both the food and service has slipped consistently since then, perhaps it has become a victim of it's own success. On our last visit we had to wait about ten minutes after we had been seated for our order to be taken, in fact a table who came in after us where served before us. We ordered three breakfasts, which took thirty minutes to arrive but they did come before our teas and coffees. Some of the food one the plate was warm some was cold. No value for money here, hopefully the evening menu is better executed.

I went here with two friends last Saturday night. We passed by and noted it as our "back up plan" if the restaurant we were planning on going to was too full. When we arrived there were no tables but they took our number and called us after 20 minutes when a table was ready. We were too late for the Early bird but with main courses for €14 we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food! I had the lamb burger with tzatzi (can never pronnounce or spell that word). It was gorgeous. My friends were also very impressed with the slow roasted Pork and the cod. The cod looked a little on the small side but we had ordered a side of potatoes. Also, had a lovely Sav Blanc as the house white :) Will definitely be back - especially for the Early bird of two courses for €15

Came here as it was recommended by a friend and so glad I did. It's a lovely cosy restaurant. great for chilling with friends and having a chat. When we arrived the specials were explained to us. The menu has a good selection of choices and very reasonable. It was "Steak Night" when we were here so we both opted for that. Steak, Chips and Salad for e10, great value. The wine was reasonably priced too. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. Will definitely be recommending The Larder Cafe to others.

I love love this place, eat here a few times over the christmas period and each time it was amazing. The 10€ steak deal is fanastic value and is always spot on. the wine list is reasonable large and good value for money, when I ate here on the 21st of dec, the wine recommend by the waiter was a pefect match for the food.

Good food and great value. Had an early bird meal with a girlfriend on Saturday night, the bill was just €45 for two courses each and three glasses of wine. We both started with the breads and dips, she chose the hummus which was yum. I chose the Dukkah option, being pleasantly surprised to see Dukkah on the menu. I enjoyed it, although it was just a smidge salty. We both had lamb burghers for the main (going for the early bird our choices were restricted). It was good, a nice alternative to a beef burger. Desserts looked great but we didn’t have time to say + were pretty full after the starter and mains. Will go back again for the al a carte which had some nice options.

Lovely little restaurant! Have been there a few times now and have always left very satisfied. There are more and more places offering good value deals which is fantastic but that's not much use if the food is bad - not the case here! The food is excellent! I've tried a few things (love the steak tho!) and everything has been well presented, excellent quality and tastes great!! All that AND the value is incredible!! Can't get better than that really! Am already looking forward to my next visit!

Went here with seven friends for Christmas lunch on Saturday. Fabulous atmosphere! Great Value - €22 for 3 courses plus mulled wine. We had all courses, mulled wine, more wine and tea and coffee - ended up paying just €40 per head inclusive of service charge. The food was great and unusual, the service was unobtrusive and pleasant. Really impressed.

I love when word of mouth helps you discover a new place. My colleague's wife's friend had recommended The Larder and so a group of our work gang ended up here for dinner last week. Our visiting colleagues loved that there was an alternative Irish stout on the menu, and the Czech and other beers were also enjoyed. As for the food, everyones plates were 'licked clean' which is always a good sign. Lots of us had the prawns to start but other dishes such as salmon salad and carpaccio were equally enjoyed. There were many choices for main course and our party tried many of them and all of them got good feedback from the lamb special, and sea bass special to the steak, salads, duck and everything else tried. The staff were super friendly and patient. I will definitely be back

I rushed by this place one evening but the early bird specials menu outside caught my attention so I vowed to come back soon. If fact I've been back three times in as many weeks bringing a different friend each time and each one was impressed. The days I was there the steak special was available, it's excellent value at 10 euro with the condition you buy another course( dessert/starter) or a glass of wine. It's great value because it's delicious, the home cooked chips are amazing, one of the best I've tasted, but careful they can arrive piping hot. I had my steak medium rare and it was tender and juicy and all I could ask for. I've had steaks for twice the amount and no where near as good.My friend went for the early bird and the smoked salmon salad, again I culdn't fault it, it arrived promptly which was great as we were starving. One friend had the Pork belly early bird it was lovely esp the gravy.Desserts - OMG, the Raspberry & White chocolate cheesecake is amazing and the carrot cake was one of the best I've had. Service varied on the different nights and I prefer to sit at the back becasue there's no draught from the door. Will definitely be back with another friend soon.

Ate at the Larder tonight for a friend's birthday. I had to send my soup starter back to be reheated as it was just about warm. MAin course was Fish Pan Florentine which was ok but not exceptional, I felt the salmon dominated. Skipped dessert, coffee was good. Wine was ok but @ 30eur was too expensive, called 'Mad Fish' but maybe 'Mad Dear' would be more appropriate.

I was here tonight and it was a super dining experience. Early bird is great value for money and choices are excellent. Both my friend and I loved each course. Service was excellent and waiting staff were very attentive. We had a lovely table at the back of the restaurant and we could talk very cosily with no noise or interruptions. We would definitely come back here again.

This cosy cafe has been around for ages.I had heard just about enough rave reviews to lure me to this place.I had passed this cafe several times on rainy days and I must say the cakes had caught my eye. However today I felt savoury and was out with friends for brunch. However I must highlight that the cakes looked divine especially the carrot cake and had some difficulty in decision making. The cafe was chic and cosy.SImply the right size.Service was prompt and they had a very good value 2 course lunch going at e10.95.There were approximately 3 choices for the starters and 3 for the mains. For starters,I went for the hummous, olives and bread.I must state that the hummous was simply divine. Not too thick or creamy. The consistency was just perfect and was nicely accompanied with olives and bread. As for mains-most of us went for the lamb burger. The meat patty was succulent and tasty>being a discerning burger person.I wished they had offered a variation for the toppings rather than tomato relish only. They should have done cucumber raita. However I cant fault the place. For the price, place and service. The experience was simply memorable and definitely highly valuable.

I think this place is a really well kept secret! went recently for the early bird which was great value. The pork belly main course was excellent and everything was presented really nicely. At 15 euro this early bird made other comparable restaurants seem overpriced; I'd definately return.

Took my girlfriend here on a Saturday night. Its in a nice location just on the fringe of temple bar and on entry it looks like a classy relaxed little place. 2 glasses of wine, one starter, 2 mains and dessert came to €60. The smoked salmon salad starter was TINY but tasted OK. Both mains again on the small side but tasted very good we though. The chocolate brownie desert was nothing you wouldnt find in Superquinn. Service was functional and polite with no problems. The main problem was Atmosphere. 8.30pm on a Saturday night and you could hear a pin drop in the place, no real buzz about the place which left you just wanting to finish your meal and get into the nearby temple bar for a bit of action. All in all a reasonable priced meal with decent enough food, but you wont be lingering or talking about it for long afterwards...

Came here for early bird - not disappointed! Very good value, food was great, service was good. Only detail is that the meat special is not included in the early bird menu. Place was very quiet for a Thursday night which was surprising as we had tried to go a previous Thursday night without a reservation and it was very busy. Perhaps it depends on whether or not there are shows on in nearby theatres? Will definitely return!

3 of us called in here looking for a quick meal before the theatre. The waitress immediately advised that all food was cooked fresh and it would take 20 minutes to serve us. They were as good as their word, the food was delicious and we were in good time for the theatre. Very good service. We will definitely return when we have more time to enjoy the food. The restaurant was full by the time we left and the atmosphere and restaurant was very nice Fresser

I visited the Larder for Brunch for the first time last Saturday. Unfortunately when we arrived, we were the only customers. Although we stayed for almost 2 hours, only 3 other customers arrived for brunch, making it a bit of a lonely experience. The food was good. I had eggs benedict, but was a bit disappointed that it was called eggssss benedict when there was only one egg and one half of a muffin. A bit poor for €9.50. Would go back again, but will be asking for a bigger portion !

What a gem! I'd been browsing on Menupages looking for somewhere new for last weekend & came across The Larder. Have passed by a few times but hadn't ventured in til last Saturday.I was delighted with it. Three of us ate here-3 starters (bread with dips, tarragon chicken & the sausage dish), 3 mains (pork & pineapple casserole with steamed potatoes on the side, pork belly & a burger). I was stuffed so left it to the 2 men when it came to dessert. They both had the chocolate fondant. It was amazing & well worth the short wait (which had been explained in advance so there was no confusion). 3 beers, a bottle of Sangiovese, 2 double espressos & a cappuccino completed the night. Total was €125......well worth it. Will definitely eat here again.

Stopped in here for a bite to eat for brunch last Sunday with a friend, we've been in before for the €10 steak in the evening and decided to go back again for a lazy Sunday afternoon. We both got a full breakfast with the beans in their own little dish, everything was spot on and they do a great freshly squeezed orange juice. The staff are all great and I honestly cannot recommend the place enough.

Being a massive steak-lover, I just had to try the 10-euro rib-eye steak offer...and I wasn't disappointed! I had passed by this restaurant before, but I had no idea it was so cozy and comfortable inside - and the food was really fantastic!! The steak was melt-in-the-mouth delicious, and the chips were huge chunky ones, that were almost like roast spuds, and cooked in some kind of goose or duck fat - which made them unbelievably moreish! And, of course, a salad (with lovely vinegarette) to make me feel less guilty.... The service was great too - the staff were very friendly, and made you feel right at home straight away without being intrusive, which I love! I had a chocolate fondant for dessert, which rounded off the meal perfectly. I'd highly recommend it for a reasonable and delicious night out!

Went here for lunch, had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated as the place was very busy. I managed to squeeze into the last table. They have a 2 course lunch menu for €10.95, menu is up-to-date on this site. I opted for the chicken, cheese, tomato and pesto sandwich on multi grain bread, toasted. This comes with choice of 2 salads which are written up on the boards - cucumber and tomato, mixed leaves, beetroot apple and rocket, cous cous and tomato pasta. You can also choose a soup if you prefer, today's option was beetroot and apple....never had that before, wish I gave it a try! Sandwich came with a generous side salad of pasta and mixed leaves. As sandwiches go, this was tasty, but on the downside my mixed leaves were not dressed, minor detail. If you're looking for a one way ticket to Portion Ville, maybe choose some of the other lunches, fish and chips, nasi goreng, caesar salad all of which looked lovely. Finished off with a hot chocolate, that really wasn't overly hot but all in all good experience. Will return as they have good early bird options - want to come back to try the hot dishes.

A group of popped in a Wednesday night after hearing about the €10 rib eye steak they do midweek! The place was quite busy when we arrived around 7.30 and were greeted by very friendly staff. We all went for the steak which was perfectly cooked and accompanied by a side salad and possibly the best chips in Dublin!! They are thick chunky chips, and tasted like they had been cooked in either goose or duck fat making them almost like roast potatoes. I had the chocolate fondant to finish which was perfect. They have a lovely bottle of Argentinean Malbec on the wine list which I'd definitely recommend. All in all a great night and looking forward to going back again! Keep up the great work guys.

Enjoyed a great meal here with friends last week. Excellent value early bird menu. Lovely food - I had a creamy carrot and coconut soup with delicious homemade breads, pork belly and carrot cake - for less than €20 - happy days! Will go back to try the burger and the brownie. Good portion sizes. Great choice of wines, even by the glass. I liked the decor and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. We had an early sitting but were not rushed at all. Thumbs up for this one!

Had the starter of tarragon chicken which was delicious but very small the piece of chicken was on a bone and was tiny. For main course had a fish pan which was really tasty but again felt the portion to be very small. I was glad I order a sides of chips which were absolutely delicious tasted more like roast potatoes than chips.

Opted for an early bird menu and special of the day. The early bird menu is a la cart and you can choose from a decent list of options. My potatoes and leek soup was a charming warm and delicate starter that well prepared my stomach for the more succulent special of the day (lamb chops with sauce, mashed potatoes and veggie). It was perfectly cooked and nicely flavoured. Portion was also well sized. Judging from my partner's speed of finishing her hummus dips and vegetable lasagne, I'd say they were good too. We jumped to coffee directly since too full. With 2 glasses of wine, the bill didn't break the bank. The early bird menu is definitely great value. Service kind and professional. We will come back.

We booked a table for 6 and later added a 7th with no problems. Service was prompt and they were very accommodating. Food was excellent. We took ages to decide on everything but the waitress never ruhed us. Even when it looked like they were closing they never bothered us and even said we could drink until 1am. I had the pork belly, though quite fatty was delicious.

Had a great meal here with my boyfriend. We went for the early bird menu which was 18 euro for 3 courses. all food on the early bird is from the a la carte which makes it really good value for money. all the food was delicious and the staff were lovely. It was a real find and we'll definitely be back.

We were drawn into the larder by the very affordable early bird special (€14 for 2-course, €18 for 3) and were immediately impressed by this charming cafe/restaurant. Its cosy and warm, with a bistro style atmosphere. Rather than a specific early bird menu, we were presented with the regular menu, with the early-bird items highlighted, a nice touch, especially as most restaurants would offer fare not on the regular a la carte for their specials. Soup and breads and dips were both light and tasty, a lamb burger for mains was impressively huge and was served with a zingy salad and some of the finest chips i've ever tasted. Himself had the pork belly, excellently presented with glazed carrots, mash and lots and lots of crackling (crackling=good). Finished off with a light yet rich cheesecake (which i generally don't like but enjoyed very much) to finish and we left very very happy

I've been here a few times recently, and have never been disappointed, the food is incredible! Lamb burger is my favourite, but the chicken & bacon pasta in white wine sauce special the other day was literally one of the best pasta dishes I've ever tasted. Lunch was so cheap too, 2 courses for €10.50 I think it was. Was very busy for mid-week lunch, word is spreading. Great service too, friendly staff. Would definitely recommend it for cheap tasty eats in the city centre.

I eat here on sundays for brunch/lunch quite regularly. Seats up front are nice and comfy for a lazy sunday with papers and nice food and relaxed atmosphere. Good choice on menu and everything is cooked fresh. Some things are reasonable while others are a little overrpriced. They do a 2 course special brunch for €10.95 which is well worth it considering soup alone is €5+

I recently had dinner in The Larder and I was so impressed I had to sign up here. I had the specials dish which was swordfish, It was cooked to perfection and so tender and fresh. I also had the creme brulee which was equally good. The service was fantastic also. It was pretty quiet which was fine but I think if anyone out there is looking for good food at a reasonable price it is definately worth a visit. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I was very pleasantly surprised with The Larder on my return visit here. I had been four months ago and hadn't been overly impressed to be honest but the menu has been revamed and I have to say the food was beautiful. I was also impressed with the service, very friendly and efficient. The waitress was a good laugh, was able to put up with my embarrasingly awkward friend which is a rarity! (you know who you are) Would definitley recommend this place, couldn't believe the value of the early bird

definitely the best restaurant around these parts. Avoid all the kebab joints, and all the other slobby food places. This is real, honest, passionately prepared food with the freshest ingredients. Staff are great. While the food takes longer to prepare than the nearby joints this is because it's been cooked to order, which should be what all restaurants do but don't because they want to get you in and out in break neck speed to get more bums on seat and more profit for them. However The Larder is a place for people who enjoy good food, good service at a perfect pace.

Wow! The food was gorgeous! Came to the Larder for the first time on Wednesday and was expecting something fairly standard ( 3 of us were quite hungover) but we were wrong! Is this Dublins best kept secret? The food was really fresh and so tasty! Ive never written a review before but this was definately worth the mention!!

Met 2 friends in The Larder last Thurs at 5.30 for an early bird as we were heading to the Gate Theatre for 8pm. Well what a pleasant surprise, hadn't been there before and just heard about it through the grapevine. Good quality food and wine at good value prices. Ok the service may not have been the quickest but good food is worth the wait in my opinion, and in this world of rush and hurry it was lovely to relax in an nice chilled out ambience. Will definitely be returning....

Had to register on menupages to post this as one of the most dismal dining experiences I have had. Having arrived in the restaurant at five minutes to six for the early bird menu, we were informed that the menu was still being printed and we should order wine. I asked for tap water. Having received the menu twenty minutes later, we ordered at about 6.25, having a starter and main course each. I ordered "asparagus brioche" for starter and the burger for main. Our starters eventually arrived at 7.05 at which point I was starving. My asparagus arrived without brioche. When I questioned, the waitress answered that "the chef had changed the menu." Our main courses eventually arrived at 7.35, having been in the restaurant for 1hr 40mins. Having said all this, the food was very tasty. However I will definitely not be returning nor would I recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I've been here twice now and have been impressed on both occasions. On Sunday we went for the early bird, which is available until 10.30pm!! It’s great value, the portions are generous and the food is excellent. The pace the food comes at is quite slow, which suits me, but if you're hungry you might start getting a little impatient. The staff are friendly and it’s a lovely, comfy little spot.

Had a lovely meal here with friends the Saturday before Christmas. Nothing was said when two of our party were over three quarters of a hour late! We were just kept plied with wine and smiles. The food was quite slow in coming but when it did, it was well worth the wait. The swordfish skewers were quite the hit among the party and the charcuterie board for two was more than enough to feed at least three/four people as a starter. There were no complaints when it came to the main courses either. The Larder has a lovely relaxed atmosphere which really adds to the dining experience. And you really will not get any better value for money (especially with the quality) in Dublin city centre! Staters and mains (couldn't fit desert in!) and four bottles of wine and a few beers came to under €300 for 7 people - need I say more. I'll definitely be going back and taking advantage of their great early bird offers!

After eating here at night time and been throughly impressed with the quality, I arranged a Christmas brunch with my family and in-laws at The Larder on sunday. Wonderful place to come and relax and enjoy quality food. The brunch selection was very varied and suited everybody. The wine list seems very good quality from what we had. Few places have the variety and quality that they have from day to night. Also excellent value. I will be back for sure.

This is the perfect spot to retreat from the bustling streets of Christmas shoppers for a Full Irish breakfast or even a coffee and a newspaper. I make this my weekend breakfast spot and am always welcomed by friendly service, delicious food and very reasonable prices. I have yet to sample their evening menu but i would safely recommend everything they have to offer (even the desserts are extremely tempting!). Definitely a hidden gem...

This is a gem of a place, far it seems from the bustle of Tempe Bar yet incredibly convenient. Always a seat yet never empty I've been several times, mostly early evening. A perfect pre theatre munch, the meats/humus board is divine, along with the chunky chips it's a great value for money share between friends at the window seat. The service at times has been hit & miss though I find myself drawn to the place. A great range of wines also. Worth a visit for sure.

I've gone several times for brunch to the larder and it gets worse every time I go. I kept going hoping it would improve because it's in quite a nice space and doesn't get too packed. I will now definitely not be going. After previous experiences of being overcharged and having a waitress who didn't speak a word of English and got every single order wrong, I must be some kind of masochist. Anyway when I went yesterday, the place was about three quarters full but after 20 minutes I almost had to stand in the waitress's path to ask her to take our order (She had been studiously ignoring us) She was very sour-faced and grunted at us after taking our order. We waited 25 minutes for the breakfast which had fried rather than scrambled eggs, which I had ordered. But I knew it would take too long to get her attention and get it changed so just left it (it was also pretty obvious that the food had been sitting under a hot light for some time) She muttered something about the toast coming but I had to ask for it and I had finished my breakfast by the time it arrived. I will not EVER be returning! Service that is consistently THAT bad is just unacceptable.

I went to The Larder for breakfast, so it probably wasn't the best time for them to show off their cooking skills. Nevertheless, ever since I've been dropping my daughter off at her creche in the morning I have been on a quest (well, sort of) to find the perfect cooked breakfast in the vicinity of Dublin Castle. The Larder was my second choice. The Larder had pleasant decor and music that I identified as BB King and Eric Clapton, which put me in a better mood. The waiters (all male) were not exactly smiley. I ordered bacon and scrambled eggs because it's surely the no-brainer of all cooked breakfasts. My coffee was okay; I am not a coffee snob but it seemed a bit bitter to me. The bacon & eggs took longer to arrive than I would have thought necessary, given that there were only about four other people in the cafe at 10am. The bacon was obviously good quality (two thick-cut slabs) but, like practically all bacon you get in cafés, it was cooked only to the point of being safe to eat; crispy it wasn't. The scrambled eggs were done to a turn, but for some stupid reason they had ruined it by chopping up more rubbery bacon and mixing it in with the eggs, so that the result was a bacon overkill. Even after I'd painstakingly picked all the bacon out of the eggs, I still must have exceeded my daily sodium intake several times over. The toast was...boring. I was disappointed with the food and the service (I asked twice for a glass of water but never got one, and they were not remotely busy) and I won't be going back.

wow! i just registered to share with you my experience of this gem of an eatery.starter of duck confit was simply divine.perfectly moist and falling off the bone. risotto is a great reflection of a restaurant's standards and this wild mushroom version was perfectly executed.whoever's in this kitchen has a great touch with food.these two courses cost just 17.95!!with early bird. had a lovely glass of verdejo .i had tried this place for espresso during the day and been impressed but was blown away with the bistro.I'll be back again and again

We pop into the Larder quite often to escape the hustle and bustle of Saturday shopping. It's a great place to stop and have a coffee or, like we so often do, a bottle of wine with a mixed board of Italian meats and Cheeses. With Olives and Hummus on the side, this board is perfect for sharing and not too expensive either with a price of about 12Euros for two. Check out their hot chocolate brownie cake too, good for that winter chill!

Food alright... service terrible! I had lunch today with my friend. I ordered a sandwich but she was informed that her dinner would take 15 minutes. Her dish came in 15 minutes but I had to wait an extra 10 minutes for my sandwich and when it eventually arrived it had the wrong salads. They took it away but again came back with the wrong salads. I wouldn't mind if this had been a once off but this was the second time that it has taken an age to get my order only then to get the wrong thing. Really disappointing as I used to love the place.

I have been to the Larder twice in the last two months and I'm so loving the the new menu. My girlfriend loved her food. I had the lamb dish and it was cooked to my delight.

I've been here a few times and though the food is generally good I find the service level drops each visit. It's slow and our orders were wrong. Won't be planning to go back too quickly.

Disappointing. My mother had been before and enjoyed it but we were both let down. The food portions were small, half of my halloumi wrap was practically empty and the pesto on my penne was extremely bland. My mother's salad was limp. Good service but poor quality food.

Ate in here one Sunday and availed of the early bird - I found that the atmosphere was nice and relaxed, the staff were friendly and overall was very reasonable.

Nice place to drop in for coffee and cake or a full meal. Four of us went. Starters and deserts probably outshone the main courses. Would return.

On my way to the bathroom here, I read a few reviews of this place by reviewers I would respect - Helen Lucy Burke and Ross Golden Bannon - and was surprised by the amount of superlatives used. I thought the meal was good value for Temple Bar but the food is not extraordinary. I had the beef skewers to start and they overdid the citrus marinade. The dip was much too acidic also. The nut roast was fine but the relish accompanying it tasted like it came out of a jar. We did have a lovely pinot noir however. They forgot about our dessert also. In summary, good without being amazing.

This restaurant is worth a visit. Clean and simple menu. Service was good. Friendly staff. Didn’t try the desserts so I'll be back out of curiosity.

This is a convenient place for lunch for me, and I also get a morning coffee there some days. The premises themselves are lovely, and the food is usually pretty good. My Shepherd's Pie today was mediocre though, but my friend was very pleased with his nutroast. Both were reasonably priced, a few Euro cheaper than one would pay for the same sort of thing in other places. Service is a bit slapdash, and I always feel, even when I'm only getting a take away coffee, that there place is overstaffed. There seem to be more waiting staff than a place of that size requires, but no manager to take charge of things.

A real gem of place, with delicious, simple and reasonably priced food. The tuna steak was oneof the best I've ever eaten, and they cooked it exactly as I'd asked. The wine list is decent and the desserts are to die for.In terms of the quality of the dishes and value for money this is one of the best restaurants I've been to all year.

My friend and I had dinner here on Sunday evening, and we were both impressed, as we have been on previous occasions. We both had the homemade burgers which were really tasty, and the desserts were excellent, very fresh and the homemade ice cream is delicious. This place is really good to have a very relaxing dinner, the staff are very friendly and attentive. Would recommend.

Ate here last night, we didn't have a booking but there were a few tables available. The atmosphere here was nice and the service was friendly, if a little inattentive. I went for the halloumi salad, there was no dressing on the salad but otherwise it was ok. My partner had an oriental beef skewer and said it was tasty. I had the nutroast for main and it was just ok. My other half had the lamb shank with mash and gravy, no veg included.. it was slightly lacking. We shared a banoffi and it was a 10/10. Overall though it was more like 4/10.

I love this place!! I can't praise it enough. The food is fantastic. From the home made varied muffins and scones to the fantastic lunches to the evening menu, I’ve not been disappointed with anything I’ve ever gotten from here. Any friends I’ve brought along have walked away singing it's praises. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I personally don't drink coffee, but I’ve been told that the coffee is great. I do however have their smoothies, and they are good! The lunch specials and salads change daily which makes it a great place to go back to again and again because the menu never gets tired. If you're after a cosy place to have an evening meal, definitely give here a go. Overall, you'll be missing out if you don't pop in!
