Amazing service! Had lovely food here with friends after donating blood. Let's just say I didn't feel well after donating blood and the waiter Simon was very professional and kind. If I had to find fault it was that the mayo was mixed with the sweet chilli sauce but this was sorted on request!

Just half a minute from the top of Grafton St - stopped here for a quick lunch for two: a pint of Guinness each from the pub, and the lunch menu from the food section of the Hairy Lemon (they share the premises, but are run as separate businesses). The food business is family run, with two brothers serving - full of charming Irish wit and engagement. Great value lunch special - soup plus main course for €9.99. I had the Steak Pie, my friend had Irish Stew - served with chips and soda bread. Both were excellent.

I went here for lunch today and this was only my second time eating there. They have a great lunch menu and many vegetarian options. The staff are really friendly too. It's a great place to go to choose from a nice mix of food. I opted for the homemade soup and toasted sandwich and it was great with a nice athmosphere with the lunch time crowd. I will be going back here to sample some more their veggie options!

Myself and my friend ate here on Sunday evening. I have never eaten here before and I have to say it has a lovely atmosphere. I had Beef and Guiness Pie and my friend had a steak sandwich. They were both really tasty. It was very busy that evening so the place was packed out. We had to wait a white to pay the bill but I will definately go back next time I'm in town.

Came in here on the weekend for a good pub lunch. The food came slowly, but considering the rugby was about to start, we didnt mind. It was a great atmosphere, the staff were obviously being carried on the spirit of the place and the customers and were smiley and friendly. I had the Club sandwich, and my boyfriend had the beef and guiness pie. Good hot pub food, good portions. I won't say that the prices should be lower, but as they are, it will be a treat, rather than a regular outing. Hapy customer and will return again.

I was here for my Christmas Party - I have to say the value for money is great but there were some small areas that need improvement I think. The temperature of the food was warm - not hot enough The wing starter was very small - compared to the muscles or the chowder it was tiny - we got 5 wings each. The service was slow - we were often with empty glasses and had to get up to ask someone to come and take our order I would go back tho, it was a nice place and the food was very reasonably priced. At about 10pm they put on really loud music and we wouldn't hear each other so we moved on somewhere else.

Never thought of eating here before but we were looking for something cheap and cheerful. I had a burger and chips which was filling and tasty. The only fault I would have was the tables. we were sitting as a group of four but the two tables were at different heights. Perhaps this is part of the charm??

I went into the Hairy Lemon last Monday and ordered the Irish Stew. In all honesty it was the nicest stew I have ever had. The lamb was so tender and it was really tasty. It was served with home made brown bread and a baked potato. I'm still craving it now! I had a cup of tea which was served with a home made short bread biscuit. One word delicious. The service was quick and very friendly.

Went to The Hairy Lemon last week and it had a great Atmosphere about the place, staff were very friendly and helpful. I ordered Seafood Chowder to start and it was delicious, so creamy and yummy and for my main I got Beef and Guinness stew, the meat was so tender and full of flavor. I really enjoyed my meal and felt I got value for money! Will defiantly call back again in the near future :)

This is my reg haunt when i'm in town. For me, it ticks all the boxes. The menu is excellent, good atmosphere, food is always delicious. No matter who is with me we leave happy as there is variety and there is always specials on. The reason I am posting this is I rave about the deals here all the time & I always find them fantastic. I was in just before Christmas, I had the Christmas special. I had the chowder followed by Lamb shank. Couldn't fault it, good value €16.95. I hope they keep it on as a special. We shared the homemade baileys cheesecake, there was a row over the last spoonful!

3 of us called in for food as we'd been told in the past it was good. They had a special offer on, Free starter (chicken wings or garlic bread) + choice of roast duck or roast chicken for just €14.95. Sounded good to us so we all had chicken wings and 2 of us had roast duck, the other choosing roast chicken. There were 3 chicken wings on the starter with some greenery...! Ok i know it was for free, so it should have struck us it would be too good to believe it would be a decent size portion but they didnt lead us to believe it would be anything other than worth ordering! Anyhow they were nice, we just would have liked a few more, chicken wings being so moorish and all! So we then waited for our mains which were brought out when our starter plates were still on the table, so we'd to lift them up and wait for the mains plates to be put down and then hand the starter plates to the server. Now there is crispy duck and there is 'this might break my tooth' crispy duck, the later of which we were served. It was just about edable. The mash was nice, the roasts veg a bit pityful and old looking. Our friends roast chick was fine, nothing too exciting but not dried to the extent of the duck. I am always wary about ordering something thats likely to have been precooked (roasts/carvery) and usually will go for something that requires fresh cooking and i should have stuck with this rule and ordered off the normal menu but i got reeled in by the special offer! If they keep putting out food like this on their offers/deals menu then they wont get any custom back, which defeats the purpose of the meal deals that are rolling out in a lot of pubs around Dublin during the recession. This is a great drinking pub alright. Might go for food again but wont be rushing back and will order from the normal menu.

Have been here often and found the service good and the food to be tasty and good value. Went today and the place was packed. Chose from a combo deal for €10 which included the meal and a coke or a lemonade. When our bill came is was €25.85 and not €20.00 - the next problem was that the card machines were out of order - not relaid to us on ordering. After a short dispute about being charged for the free cooldrinks, the bill was adjusted and we left paying in cash and feeling the meal had been spoilt by the argument over the drinks, the owner claimed the menu said a "splash of coke or lemonade" from the machine and not a coke and a diet coke in a glass bottle (we never requested a glass bottle). We rechecked the menu outside and found we in fact were correct - there was no mention of a machine splash of coke/lemondade!

Had dinner last night on the spur of the moment and was glad we picked here. This is a great pub (located ideally if you are going to the Gaiety). The lady serving food was extremely busy with a number of customers but she kept on top of things and brought us everything we asked for very quickly. Have a really good selection on the menu and is reasonably priced. Would be a great spot to bring visitors to. Will be back.

Great Pub with a great location. I often eat lunch here as it is less than a 2 minute walk from where I work. Has a decent lunch menu on offer and portions are always reasonable. Service is quick and presented with a smile - always a plus. It's also a great place to have a few drinks after work, it can get crowned at peak times but the upper floors are usually a bit quieter. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

I visited here yesterday for lunch looking for some comfort food and the menu didn't disappoint! I went for the cottage pie and chips which was lovely though the pie was a little dry. My boyfriend had bagers and mash and I think he was a little disappointed that the sausages that arrived were like ones we could buy ourselves as opposed to big homemade-type ones, also the plate arrived swimming in watery gravy. But it was tasty nonetheless. Our two mains and two drinks came to €25, not too bad considering the portion sizes are good. I'll definately come back to try their sandwiches and salads, the menu looked great!

I often go here for lunch as I love the decor and atmosphere, service is always excellent and portions are generous. On our latest visit, I was very happy to see that the vegetarian selection has increased considerably especially on the €10 lunch menu. I had the roasted vegetable stack served on mash with mushroom sauce; this was fine and a nice change, if a tiny bit bland. My companion had his regular Fish & Chips which was, as usual, excellent. I'll be back...

My favourite place to go after wok. Not only has it got a great atmosphere for a a few casual drinks. It also has an amazing menu. Love all the veggie options, its hard to find a place that doesnt just give out bland salads for us veggies. The €10 lunch menu is well worth the visit too. Staff are super friendly and if your not sure what to order they're a big help!!

Was in here again last week, when very tired and couldn't decide what to eat so asked the waiter to recommend me something. He suggested the vegetable stack...seemed like he knew what I wanted better than I did! It came out very nicely presented with the sauce on the side (which I loved as I'm a bit of a control freak and like to choose myself how much to drown my food). The veg and sauce were very tasty, just the right amount portion-wise and a nice salad on the side. Nice meal and finished it off with a great latte. Prices were reasonable and a very friendly service...the waiter even managed to cheer me up after a bad day!

I had arranged to meet an old friend for lunch , as we wanted to have a good catch up , we decided The Hairy Lemon as it was beside the car park. We were met with friendly faces .The bar was pretty quiet but it was very early. The water gave us the menu & a Special €10 lunch menu. While we waited for our lunch the waiter gave us a cup of soup on the house !! We ordered from the €10 menu .I had the vegetarian stack ! it was delicious , my friend had the roast beef open sandwich with chunky fries, she was very happy with hers too.we'll def be back but next time we'll leave the cars behind.

Was out for a few drinks with friends and grabbed a bite to eat here. I was impressed that there were a couple of vegeterian choices available on the menu and they seemed a little bit better than the standard pub grub fare. I opted for the chickpea and coriander burger with chunky fries. The burger came with very little mint yoghurt which made it very dry (I had to add ketchup to finish it off) but the chips were good. My friends seemed happy with their chicken wings and chicken gougons but they didn't look like anything spectacular. The Hairy Lemon is a good pub with a nice (packed) atmosphere at the weekends but the food is just ok; fairly standard pub grub.

This place is good for drinks sure but I've eaten here twice for lunch and it is awful. The first lunch wasn't so bad, got a carbonara which was so so but Lasagne on next ocassion was awful, I'm no great shakes in the kitchen myself but I can make a better lasagne and carbonara myself. Really bad, avoid if you can. I was very hungry going in for lucnh but couldn't bring myself to finish it- that bad. And for the price I paid I would expect something far better. I've had tastier meals.

Had a dinner there a few days ago & really enjoyed it. I used to come to this place for a few pints but they actually serve good food too. The portions are big & the food is tasty. I had the guiness beef in a pie, I could hardly finish it & there was plenty of meat. My friend had the classic bacon & cabbage & loved it. We finished off with a toffee pudding, quite nice as well. I would definitely recommand this place for a casual, hearty dinner.

I've been here many times on nights out and have always found it to be a lively place, though with notably slow service. So, when in town recently, I was passing and decided to call in for lunch. I had the Beef and Guinness although I struggled to find much beef. Overall it was a very small serving size which is not what would be expected from pub grub. As this is a food review website, the ratings given are based on this food encounter alone, and not the pub itself. I will return for drinks, but not for food.

Fantastic service throughout our many encounters of the hairy lemon. Great atmosphere and above all a really great place to spend an evening. Thank you to all the staff there. The food was also worth our money although a little pricey compared to England. Overall it was a fantastic experience, well worth checking out.

Of all the places I have been to in Europe, The Hairy Lemon in Dublin is the Best with no doubt. Once you've stepped in, there is no other place where you would like to be. The staff is cheerfull, constantly smiling, efficient and the atmosphere is the best I have experienced so far. The food is excellent, staff are full of attention to you, always asking you if you are satisifed, or need anything else, well they are professionals. I actually think that many other places in Dublin could take lessons from The Hairy lemon's style and staff. I recommend you to go there and enjoy a few guinness in the inside Terrace or have a great meal that you will remember for a long time.

Met with a smiling face, service was prompt. As it was a Sunday I avoided curry and pasta dishes and leaned towards the more traditional bangers and mash. When my dish arrived, I first noted the size of the sausages. They were of a regular proportion whereas pubs often serve jumbo sausages with such meals. The mash although creamy, I was still met with the odd lump. but this can be forgiven on a busy afternoon. Most banger and mash dishes are often complimented with a homemade gravy. However, accompanying this dish was a bland out-of-the-packet sauce. Overall the meal was pleasant but could be improved in certain areas. As anyone who has visited the Hairy Lemon will know, it is a nice snug pub to spend an afternoon in. Therefore I will be returning in the future.

The staff are rude, the food is disgusting and you don't get what you order from the menu. I came here for lunch with a friend recently. She ordered vegetable soup which was inedible as it tasted strongly of and only of curry powder and pepper. I ordered chicken on ciabatta which came on a baguette, which was undercooked and the chips cold. The waiter argued with us that the soup was supposed to be that spicy and that I was in fact eating a ciabatta which I obviously wasn't. No apology offered, extremely rude to deal with, would never return.

One of my favourite pubs to go to for a big hearty meal. I just love this pub in general, it's cosy, warm, quaint and the chairs are comfy. Plus you always get service with a smile. The menu has some great traditional Irish dishes such as the coddle, stew and the bacon and cabbage. The prices are also decent. The baileys cheesecake is gorgeous! I love to go here when it's raining and just sit here, relax, take your time to eat and have a few drinks. Brilliant place!

Had the same as the last reviewer for lunch (club sandwich) but didn't find it too bad. The sandwich was massive and chips were very plentiful. The sandwich was a little bland and dry and the rasher had the biggest fattest rind in the history of rinds but the coffee was good and service was brisk and pleasant...as it should be with only 3 other tables occupied at lunchtime. The place was very quiet indeed when we visited. The prices are a bit over the top for what you get but hey we're used to that.

Ate here for the first and last time yesterday when I was suffering from a rotten hangover. I got the limpest club sandwich you could imagine (with SPICY chicken in it - which was not what it said on the menu - who puts Spicy chicken on a club sandwich???) You could count the chips there were so few of them and the condiments were the cheapest you can get. Plus, my side of coleslaw never arrived. €10.90 for the meal and I won't be going back. I wasn't expecting gourmet but I just should have gone somewhere else for my cure.

Awful experience, I will never eat there again. Food we ordered (bangers and mash & tandoori fish) tasted like they were microwaved and not nice. The fish was supposed to come with roasted vegetables, instead came with manky salad drowned in bottled dressing. I don't mind paying money for good food but hate paying good money for bad food :( When I mentioned it to staff he made no effort to compensate but just said sorry like he didn't care.

Although a nice little quiet getaway from work, the food was only shocking. I had a cottage pie that had about as much mince in it than there were chips on the plate. The pie was poor, even by my standards, and I'm never too fussy and I made an effort to count the chips on the plate as I noticed there was so few and it came to a whopping 11 chips. I'm not looking for michelin star grub but when you're paying nearly €13 for a bite to eat, you at least expect it to be tasty. Never again.....

The food in the Hairy Lemon has really gone downhill. A while ago my boyfriend and I went in for lunch and my boyfriend ordered the chicken stir-fry. When it arrived on the plate it was a sodden, black mess. There was so much soy sauce used you couldn't distinguish the chicken from the vegetables. My lasagne was passable but nothing special. We won't be going back here again.

A cosy and shady little pub, easy to escape the hustle and bustle of the city centre. I would agree that their lunch menu / food menu leaves a lot to be desired, however, it is only a pub, and their platters are pretty good for finger food and greasy food. You have to know that you will not be served high quality food here, but it is perfect for hangover days, and to simply sit and enjoy a platter for 2 people and have low expectations. It wont set you back a lot, and it is a nice little escape in the city.

Have been here once a week for the past two months and the place has steadily gone down hill in regard to food. The lunch menu is small but does have everything you would expect for a lunch menu. Went there recently and got the Cabanora and the sauce was not mixed properly...all lumpy and tasted of flour. Wouldn't recommend it on the food but for a night out it is a good place to start off with or for a quietish night out!!!

I go here for a pint with a friend about once ever 2 or 3 weeks. We rarely eat because when we have it is always consistently poor. Out of about 5 meals each we had six complaints. The prices are for tourists - well above what they should be for inferior quality. Add to that the rather shabby service and you see why one thing you do not need to worry about is the food area being full.

I love this place, the service is not always great but the atmosphere more than makes up for it, the food is your typical pub food but the portions are a great size, although I would stay away from the stew!

We met on a Wednesday night with few friends, soccer was on all TVs so place was a bit noisy, but we really enjoyed it, sandwich and burger were nice and a perfect match with few pints of Guinness...

Great if you’re either preparing for or recovering from a session, don’t expect too much from the food its typical pub grub, and don't even order a dessert, they are terrible, in particular the so called bailey's cheesecake!
