Visited this restaurant on the 17th April with 14 other members of my staff. This use to be one of my favourites (the last time I visited was 3 years ago), it use to always serve great food with super service. Unfortunately on this visit the food was Cold, Not freshly made, dry and very tasteless. Service was very poor waiter couldn't remember who ordered what and when he was clearing the table he asked the guest to passed the plates to him... we were than given a very high service charge ... will not visit again ....

This place is a complete rip off. My wife and I went there for dinner a few days ago. After we were coldly led to a table by a Lebanese lady, we looked over the menu, which looked pretty normal, like any regular menu you find in restaurants, but little did we know that it was a trap (you will find out why later on, keep reading). We ordered one of their Mezzes, which consists of a selection of small plates of Middle Eastern food. The price as shown on the menu next to that selection is about 25 Euros as I remember. The food, in fact, was pretty ordinary, and some of the food in the small plates had clearly been reheated and not freshly cooked, we thought the amount and quality were actually bad for 25 Euros. However, after we finished eating, I went to the cashier to pay the bill, which turned out to be more than 50 Euros! Two of the restaurants staff cynically explained to me that the price 25 Euros was actually for one person, and since my wife and I were two, we have to pay 25 Euros each! What I found most shocking is that he went on to tell me that a lot of people fell prey to their menu, thinking it is 25 but not knowing that the price is actually per person! Even when I ordered that meal, the waiter who served my table did not let me know that this price is for each person and not for two, as if they were doing this as a trap to get more money from their customers. Some friends of mine told me that they had had the same experience, but not only that, the staff of the restaurant seem to try to rip off the customers who appear to be poor in English or math and do not really know how things work here in restaurants or do not really care about their money. I am surprised that this place is still running in Dublin and no one has complained about that restaurant being a scam. After that experience, I will never return there, and I will also try my best to tell all my friends not to go there. I hope that place will be inspected for what is done to people and gets closed down.

The Cedar tree is a fantastic restaurant that never fails to please. The food here is fantastic and though I've been many times, it's always served to the same high standards. We usually go in large groups so we get a few of the mezzes and you get so many dishes to share - we're never left hungry afterwards. It's a nice way to try a bit of everything The service is not slow, but more thoughtful - most restaurants are trying to push you out within a certain time limit, but here you can sit back relax, enjoy your food and wine without feeling the pressure to leave. I highly recommend it.

On Friday the 5th of Dec, we turned up 14 people to our Christmas party, all happy and looking forward to that evening, in Cedar Tree, 12 of us turned up on time, we’re invited to go downstairs, the waiters could not find our reservation –despite of the fact we had to pay a tenner’s deposit each to guaranty this booking! –the table is not dressed at all, we wait in the noise of 2 other Chrismas parties, we finally sat down, we’ve asked for a particular menu, we’re presented with another one, 10 euros more expensive, we ended up 12 of us ordering the Lebanese meze, we've previously phoned the restaurant, the lady on the phone said that there’s so much to eat in that meze that you do not need to order a main course…Fair enough, then we were served 5 or 6 different dishes: for exemple, a small plate with 6 chicken wings and a bit of yoghourt, and I realized that this portion was for 4 people!!!! The humus dish was so small that I took a bit with some peta bread, that was 1/3 of the dish gone, etc etc we ALL came out STARVING. So we decided to phone the restaurant, to ask for some explanations: did they serve half of the food? -my colleague was told twice the manager will call her back, he never did, I phoned twice, finally got the guy on the phone, he DID NOT CARE AT ALL, I WAS WASTING HIS TIME to quote him, he never apologized for whatever inconvenience caused to 14 customers, he never offered any compensation, I even nor one bit felt he was listening to me, he kept on saying YOU’RE WASTING MY TIME, YOU’RE WASTING MY TIME, how come can 12 customers feel the same and a restaurant not to listen to their complain???? so the Cedar Tree, a great restaurant???? Pretty sad honestly that a restaurant does not want to hear of customers’ complaints; SHAME ON YOU WHAT A LET DOWN!!!!! CEDAR TREE? NO THANKS NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!

This was supposed to be a special meal, but as soon as we entered the Cedar Tree the atmosphere was hostile with some sort of argument occurring between members of staff. The service was slow, the food was pretty awful and tasteless, and much below expectations. I cannot recommend this place at all- and after the crappy service and dreadful food!!! Avoid Avoid Avoid
