I visited here for lunch today - there were six of us in total. We ordered chicken burgers, salads, pananni and curry. After a bit of a wait the staff came back and said there were no chicken burgers left, also no lasagne and no salmon. They replaced them with regular burgers. At €9 per main course I dont think that the food was worth the price when you could have good food a lot quicker and cheaper within close enough distance. Staff were very friendly though and attentive and did apologise for the lack of options and also the delay.
Response:
We would like to offer our sincere apologies to you and your friends and assure you this is certainly not a typical lunch experience at The Baggot Inn. We were even busier that normal for a Friday Service and ran out of some dishes unexpectedly towards the end of Lunch. We hope that you will give us another try and we would like to extend an invitation to you and three friends to enjoy a complimentary lunch where you can choose from our full menu. We also wish to thank you for your kind words about our staff as we pride ourselves on our Customer Service. We look forward to dealing with you in the future. Kindest Regards, Siobháin @ The Baggot Inn

Booked my birthday party here and was bowled over by the service and atmosphere. There were 20 for dinner and no complaints to be found. We just had bar menu, considering it was €9 a dish i rate it 5star as the waitress told us all prepared from fresh produce. All the staff were in fancy dress and must say the bunnies were great. We stayed on till the early hours and had a fantasic night,as most of my friends texted me the next day raving about the baggot.

Went to the baggot for after work drinks and food. We were greated at the door and the very helpful staff member seated us and looked after our group till we left. a couple of us had food. There was an early special all main courses only €8 till seven. I had the cajun chicken fillet burger. Very tasty great value too. My friends had some food too, one had fish and the other had Bangers & mash. There was a good buss in the place nice relaxed atmosphere. I think there was a quiz on a fundraiser. Have to say the food was good but the service was what will make me go back. The staff are so helpful and friendly. They give attention to detail and you are made feel welcome every time. Had not been in the baggot in a while. But will be back soon.

This place is horrible. When it is busy the staff are rushed and stressed, you are put in a cramped spot and the food is rushed and not good. Also there were stains on the glasses, and fingerprints on the plates, not the most reassuring.i got lasagne and my friend got the baggot burger, the lasagne was a bit bland, however the 'chips' that came were just huge chunks of potato!!!!bigger than wedges! The portions were huge, and the burger was tasty but the meat way too thick to eat comfortably. The atmosphere was just get you in and out and felt very ignored, and like we were an inconviennce!I think there are plenty better places just beside here that offer a far superior service. Again for a drink socially its good, but when its busy forget about it. Would definately advise you to stay away!

Came here for a work lunch with 2 others. I had the baked potatoe with tuna. Thought it was a bit strange I was asked if I wanted chips with my baked potatoe but that might just be me being pickey. The food here is ok. I do however lover the pub for going to a social drink. Great spot and great friendly staff.

Returned to the Baggot with 3 colleagues last night. Main course and glass of wine or pint for €10 - still hard to believe. You can choose anything off the menu except the steak medallions. 2 of us had chilli baked potato, one had home-made burger and one fillet of chicken burger - no complaints at all. Each dish served with chunky chips and salad. We were told all food fresh - nothing frozen. As on previous occasions - great service and staff lovely. We stayed on to have another drink and the bill for 4 of us incl. food and 2 drinks each was €60 - try to beat that for value.

you should always try something once but more over try it twice to decide if you really do or don't like it. i went to the baggot in for second time for dinner and it was a totally different experience. we shared nachos and chicken wings for starters, huge portions and as the chicken wings were really messy they gave us a finger bowl and extra napkins. i nice touch to anticipate our needs, allot of places don't do this. we had chicken supreme and steak sandwich both were delicious. table was booked for 8pm so it was just before it got busy. it was starting to get busy as we were finished eating, which was perfect. friendly staff, good food, good prices. will be back again.

Went for lunch today with my daughter, could not believe how busy the pub was, soon found out why. There main courses are tasty and very filling which makes them very good value for money. There is a good choice available also. After struggling to try and finish our lunch, a very friendly waitress told us there was free apple crumble available lunch time on Wednesday and offered us a serving each. The manager spoke to us to find out if we were happy with our lunch He is a very friendly and customer focused person who clearly enjoys his work and also likes to see that the customers leave the pub happy and content after their meal, highly recommend, will return.

Work on Merrion square and visited the baggot inn for lunch with my mum. Instantly loved the amercian-bar feel and was surprised by the great atmostphere for a wet wednesday lunchtime(which I later found out that could have been caused by their free dessert on a wednesday!) Service was very good, didn't need to be looking around to catch a waitresses eye, they were prompt and friendly. Food was regular prices, but soup and panini deal for 11 euro was really good and HUGE! Good value for money, and if you're planning on that being your dinner for the day it's really good, very filling. Saw the pour your own pint tables and they look great, meant to have a v good atmostphere at weekends.

Ate here one Thursday evening hoping to get the €10 main course and glass of wine deal, unfortuntely that only runs Mon-Wed, I had the chicken and my friend had the steak sandwich. Food was ok, had a few drinks, the service was TERRIBLE. The girl behind the bar was bad mannered and rude on a number of occasions, the manager that was working was nice but honestly, my dealing with this girl would put me off going again, its a nice bar which I used to like but good staff make a place. A different girl served us our meals and she was nice but the other girl...

Just back from lunch here. Staff were very friendly I have to say, a big difference from the last time I was here however that was on a busy evening. We were informed of several specials of the day, although we didn't find any overly appealing. I ordered the chicken ceaser salad and my partner went for the lasagne. Both dishes arrived promptly. The salad was very generous portion wise - lots of chunks of warm chicken breast, halved cherry tomatoes, bacon, croutons, cheese (which I don't think was parmesan, unless it was heavily processed), and fresh lettuce of course. There was a little too much dressing for my liking, but that's just personal taste. The lasagne was pronounced to be good, and a side salad, chunky chips and coleslaw accompanied it. Overall it was good for a quick lunchtime bite, and the bill was very reasonable - for our two dishes plus a coke and a sparkling water it was only €20. I would go back for lunch, but I'm not sure if I'd go again for dinner though, it just seems to be very hectic in the evenings.

We enjoyed the Early Bird menu here yesterday- €10 for a main course and either a glass of wine or a pint of your choice!! Excellent value, and the pub grub was really quite delicious. The chicken supreme was cooked perfectly, with nice mash and veg on the side. The steak sandwich was highly praised- only grumble was the shortage of wedges on the side. All in all, well worth a visit for a quick and cheap bite after work!

WEnt here for lunch with a work colleague and eaten here many times. Was dissappointed that I couldnt get the duck spring rolls. Decided to go for the Italian panini. My friend got the cajun chickn panini. Unfortunately in an effort to serve us quickly, the panini's were under done and doughy. The chips were also underdone. I also have to say that the panini didnt really taste of anything despite having pesto and sundried tomatoes in it. €9 is expensive for a panini anyway-never mind one that dissappointing I will return here-but im getting soup from now on-cant go that wrong.

I went here on a Saturday evening just before 7, so still in time for the Early Bird, which is a brilliant deal. I ordered the chicken supreme and a pint, all for €10. Being such good value will always gain them plenty of brownie points before the food is even served. My meal was delicious, the roast root vegetables were gorgeous and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The others felt the meals were slightly on the small side but still well worth it for the price we were paying. I was delighted with my meal and will definitely be back.

Like many other reviewers, I work in the area so popped in for lunch with a group of around 7. They have recently changed their lunch menu, sign of the times and all, the menu is simpler and most dishes are €10. Apparently the reason they were finding it difficult to get the food served in an hour with their previous menu. I would believe that since I did have to rush through a meal there once. Anyway, I ordered the special which was two good sized lamb skewers (kofta style) on a bed of mashed potato and spring onion and with a bit of rice on the side (I'm not sure if the rice was there just because I had asked for no salad). There were quite a few odd orders from our table and the staff made sure we got what we ordered. I was satisified with the meal, it was well cooked and the mash was particularly nice. Overall I suppose it could be considered slightly plain in the sense that there was no gravy or sauce but that's generally how I order food so I'm not sure if that's how it usually comes or if it was because I said I didn't want any extras. The staff were attentive but not overly so. All in all a good meal, though I might try the lasagne the next time, it looked good.

I visited the Baggot Inn today for lunch. The food and service was exceptional. I had the burger and the salad accompanying the burger was delicious. It was a bit quiet but this was probably down to the beautiful weather we're having.

I went for Lunch here today. The place was quiet with most people probably taking a sandwich to Stephens Green with the nice weather. The food was nice i had the chicken curry with chips and rice which was very tasty and served in about ten minutes. Staff were friendly and efficient. All in all a nice lunch at a very reasonable price.

Have eaten here a few times as I work nearby. I do like the place and atmosphere at night but must admit the lunch menu is pretty bad. There's not much of a selection unless you like a burger. The burger is ok. Ordered soup last time I was here and it said it came with bread on the side. i was looking fwd to some nice homemade bread but was disappointed when I got 2 sticks of rock hard bread. It was meant to be like that apparantly but not nice to dip into your soup. Also I find it's quite empty (maybe cos we eat at 12.30pm, and its sometimes hard to get the waitress attention. Good for a burger but not for much else

Excellent service, lovely food - home-cooked style dinners and above-par platter snacks. Staff were friendly and attentive all night, the atmosphere was relaxed, the music was 80's / 90's and the cocktails were delicious! Recommended for the kind of night out where chatting is more important to the group than dancing!

Working just off Baggot Street, The Baggot Inn used to be a favourite for lunch generally on pay day. I'd been away for a few weeks with work and decided to grab a bite to eat there a few weeks ago. Talk about going down hill. The first thing I noticed was that even though it was quarter to one, the place was practically empty. The next was that the menu was dramatically cut short. There had always been a few choices in the pastas and salads and meat dishes but now there was a rather poor selection which included a few Paninis, Lasagne and the obligatory burger. The special pasta was chicken in a cream sauce. My colleague who is vegetarian was none too impressed having been looking forward to Caesar salad. Having both decided upon the Mozzarella and Basil Panini, we were rather surprised when it arrived literally minutes later. The sandwiches were accompanied by a portion of chips that might have been ok the first or second time they were deep fried but were unpalatable as chip can be. The panini itself was a bit pallid, not very toasted and the filling was uninspiring and gloopy. At €8 it was bad value as neither of us enjoyed our meals. Perhaps their dinner/evening menu is better, but I won't be rushing back on pay day.

Went for the Saturday Brunch menu with a friend and was very surprised by the quality of the food. Whenever I had eaten here during the week, the food was very hit and miss but on this occasion the food was excellent. I had the Batch breakfast which included bacon, scrambled eggs, batch bread and croissants. The food was fresh and very tasty. At around €10 it was excellent value for money. Would go back for the brunch and for the very friendly staff.

I previously ate here and I would have agreed with the older reviews which were not good. But friends pursuaded me to go back and try agian - New Chief ?. I ordered the Spring Rolls which were very tasty and the fresh fish which I have to recommend. My collegue ordered the Burger which was home-made (not like last time) and good size portion. All in all food was very good and the decor is nice.

We went for lunch on a recommendation and we will definitely be returning. Service was fast and friendly and the Manageress was extremely pleasant and very efficient. I had the Seabass which I was told by our hostess is bought in fresh everyday. For pub grub it had restaurant quality and I will definitely be back.

I've not eaten in the Baggot Inn in a few weeks & I will NEVER eat there again - although on my last visit I never got to eat! Myself & 2 colleagues attended at lunchtime this week. Given the state of the economy you think they'd be delighted for the business! We sat down & it took 10mins before we could get the attention of any of the few staff; the server couldn't get her electronic order thing to work so went off without a word & then returned 5mins later. She took our order or 1 fish pie, 1 lasagne & 1 baked potato. it then took another 5mins before any drinks (just water) were delivered to the table. 15 mins later no food - we stopped server asked where food was & off she went to check - never did she return. At this point we did notice that there was a lot of commotion from the kitchen. Servers were coming & going with dishes as they didn't seem to know what dish was for whom! Another 15mins & STILL NO FOOD! At this stage we were almost through our lunch hour & no lunch; we made the executive decision to leave. I couldn't see the manageress So I told a server at the bar (again our server was still missing) that we were leaving as we'd not been fed & had no idea when that may or may not happen. I'm disappointed to say the least. The service has never been great here - sloppy, sullen servers. However, they are one of the few places that serve HOT food during the week. I got a soup & a sandwich & coffee to take to my desk; but it didn't beat any lasagne!

Went to the Baggot Inn for lunch with 5 workmates and had a BAD experience. We ordered burgers but when they arrived all the buns were stale. I said it to the supervisor/manager lady on the floor and she said she'd check with the kitchen. She came back 10mins later and told us that the kitchen had used yesterdays buns! All she offered was tea or coffee on the house which was not satisfactory. The burgers were not edible therefore all we had were the 6/7 chips on the side. When we went to pay she charged for the teas and coffees and took one burger off the bill. The teas and coffees between us actually cost more than one burger therefore we ended up paying more. Wont be back..

Having read previous reviews I wasn't expecting much, and when I phoned to book for 14 the process was a bit on the painful side - I'd only have a 15 minute window in which to arrive, which was a bit tight to be honest. Once we arrived it took too long for our table to be set up for us, but then once that was done all was good. Service was spartan (which is exactly what we wanted) but friendly. Food seemed expensive and the kitchen closed early - waitress came around at 8:45 to tell us it was closed when I'd been told three times that the kitchen closes at 9 (as the sign out the front says too), but a bit of a push and we got our food. Platters are platters and not very exciting, but have to say that they were the best chips I've had in Ireland.

Tables with beer taps - never again. Absolutely disgraceful attitude, manageress was very unfriendly. We arrived early on a Friday to secure a good table, arranged to meet friends and come 5.30pm having made an effort to get in we were told that they needed us to vacate the table for a reservation without offering to relocate us or prior warning of the impending kicking out - great fun for an hour or two but don't get too comfortable. Our waitress was very apologetic and genuinely embarrassed - poorly managed.

Very disappointing. I had looked forward to seeing the Baggot Inn reopen as it was regular haunt of my misspent youth. On entering the newly renovated premises I was impressed by the décor and, like everyone else liked the novelty idea of taps on the table. I don’t know what it is, but the chance of pulling ones own pint generally seems appealing. The food, if a bit slow in coming was acceptable if not anything that would draw me back in a hurry. So why so disappointing? The staff, more so the management, were rude and unwelcoming making the whole experience most unpalatable. I won’t be returning.

The beer taps are good fun but the novelty soon wears off. The staff here are very unwelcoming and cold to the point of rudeness. Disgraceful. Never again!

Mediocre food, rude and unprofessional management. The tables with the beer taps are good fun and a great idea, unless of course they ask you to move from them just after the pub fills up because they had a reservation they neglected to inform you of during the previous three hours. I won't be going back.

Nicely renovated pub. Food and lunch time service is a little lack lustre. Memorable for a night when the waitress (who was hopefully new) dropped four seperate trays of food / drink
