Ate here on a Sunday afternoon. There were a few other diners. For starters I had the Mango & prawn salad with chilli dressing - Very tasty, lovely juicy prawns too. Mains was the sea bass special in green curry sauce - Very nice, loads of Veg & fish -- really tasty. My hubbie had the chicken satay for starters - Good enough & the sirlion beef stir fry which he devoured - He loved it.... With 4 beers our meal came to 75 euro... a s=little on the steep side if I'm honest but the food was really delicous.... I'll be back for a special occasion :o). The staff were very attentive & ensured us that one rice & one chip would be more then enough!--thanks guys, they certainly were :o)

Went to Thai Orchid last night for the first time in months and as always was really satisfied with the food and service. Me and my partner availed of the early bird menu two course for 18.95. He had chicken satay for starter, sweet and sour for main, i had spring rolls and crispy chicken in honey chilli sauce, on the early bird menu it was crispy beef when i asked if i could have chicken instead it was no problem. All the food was so tasty and of great quality, we left very plate empty. The service is great and the restaurant is always clean and tidy. Love Thai Orchid would recommend to any fan of Thai food.

I LOVE this restaurant. I used to visit quite regularly when I lived at that side of town but since moving further out of the city it has been a while. I was so glad to go back to eat here on Saturday because it's always so good and I'd really missed it. It's my favourite Thai restaurant and Dublin and I would recommend it to anyone.

My boyfriend took me here on Friday for a quick bite. On entering, the feeling in the restuarant is cosy, and friendly. The staff are very nice and made us feel welcome instantly. To start I had veg spring rolls, which were very fresh and tasty. My boyfriend had dumpings, equally fresh and tasty. Main course was chicken and cashew nuts.. a nice combination of veg on the dish, and it was tasty. The chicken wasn't overcooked at all, very moist. My boyfriend had duck tamarind and it was beautiful- very tender and a really nice sauce with crispy noodles underneath. We had a nice bottle of Cotes du Rhone. All in all, I enjoyed the experience from start to finish, a well priced establishment, I will definitely be coming back.

Decided to meet a special friend for lunch, and she thought of this place... I was so impressed. We were lucky to get a table they were so busy, we both had prawn dish with rice, and it was just delicious and satisfying, with loads of vegetables we could not finish it. Very good value and good food. I can't wait to go back.

We ate here last night and had a wonderful meal. The food was delicious, the staff were both friendly and helpful and the atmoshpere was really nice and relaxed. Neither of us could finish our meal and asked for it to be wrapped for take away. A nice surprise was that the waiter had kindly put in two portions of fresh rice for us. It may be a small thing but it's these touches that really make a difference. Their take away menu is well priced too and I for one will definately be back!!

Went here for takeout. It's very good value for Thai food (although will never be as cheap as Chinese) at under 10 euro for each main. I had prawns in oyster sauce - ingredients were really fresh and the dish tasted lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful and served us before the restaurant opened at 5pm. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated. Will definitely be back.

Went here for an early bird - 2 courses and tea/coffee for €18. Had prawn rolls/chicken satay for starters, which were lovely, and had beef in oyster sauce for mains, which was delicious also! Washed down with a gorgeous bottle of house red, this was definitely a satisfying meal. Given it was 6:30 on a Monday, there was only 1 other person dining when we went in first! so not a buzzing atmosphere. Staff very polite, and this will remain to be one of my favourite restaurants!

Went here for dinner with a friend and wasn't overly impressed. We went for the 17.95 early bird (it says 3 courses but it's really 2 plus tea and coffee). My food was nice but nothing fantastic. The wine was lovely and reasonably priced. We shared a (massive) chocolate cake for dessert. The service was friendly and promt but wasn't crazy about the place. In my opinion there are far better thai restaurants in Dublin

The portions were tiny and food cheap and nasty We had two starters and two mains, when the starters did come one of them was the wrong dish and had to be sent back, when the mains came they were both the wrong dish and the waiter actually argued with us about our order and we had to request a menu to show what we had ordered ~(the waitress had taken the order using the meal numbers so we know she had noted the right meals) there was little or no apology for this and we were left waiting. The food was sickly sweet and the rice had obviously been left sitting in the dish all day and was over cooked, would never go again!

Had lunch here with my friend yesterday. The set lunch menu is really good value. Loved the chicken satay. Had to wait quite a while so that was the only downside. Staff very friendly. Will go back next time to try the evening menu.

A friend and I had the early bird menu at the Thai Orchid and the whole experience was just wonderful. The staff are so friendly and polite (as is typical in Thai restaurants I think), there was a really relaxed atmosphere (it was a Wednesday evening, approximately 7 pm), the food was amazing (I had chicken and cashew nuts and my friend had a curry - both beautiful), and the location is wonderful - we went off to the cinema afterwards and it was just a short walk away. I would highly recommend the Thai Orchid!

We enjoyed a meal here on Wednesday evening before a visit to the cinema. We all ordered from the Early Bird Menu €18.95 for 2 courses and all were very tasty. The chicken dumplings were fabulous and there was a variety of lovely mains. Service was excellent, although it was quite quiet when we went in. It was much busier when we were leaving. Altogether a lovely expereince, right in the heart of the city!!

I work near this restaurant and have been for lunch a few times. It was a shame they removed their 2 course lunch menu, as it used to be very good value. Unfortunately, the last time i was there, was a disaster. There was only one waiter looking after two floors of tables. We arrived at 1 (for our 1-2 lunch break) and were served our starters at 1.50. We had brought a cake along as it was someone's birthday. We had to ask the waiter to bring the cake out during the main course, as some of us had to leave. The atmosphere was awful, as there was tension between the tables as to who was being served first. Some people left,as they were waiting too long. It wasn't the waiters fault at all, he did the best in the circumstance. It's a shame, as no-one in my work will chance it again for a lunchtime.

It was the firts time that I visited this restaurant.I went for the Thai Green Curry- I think I've tried that in every single Thai restaurant and with every take-away in the greater Dublin area- and this is one of the better ones!! The service is good and prompt, the staff are very nice and possibly the only authentic Thai thing in the place. A wonderful place

This is a lovely little haven on Westmoreland Street - stepping in off the hustle and bustle of the busy street into a small, but quaintly decorated restaurant. As is standard now in almost every restaurant in Dublin there is a well appointed early bird menu, which offers up a great selection of starters and main courses. For my starter here I had the spring rolls, followed by a lovely creamy red curry with chicken. The food is excellent & the service is competent and friendly, without being overly intrusive. My only quip would have to be the wine, we had a bottle of their house white & to be honest it wasn't great, nor was it chilled properly. However, the pluses did far outweigh the negatives and we will be back.

Lovely decor and service is excellent. The food is nice, I had the vegetarian spring rolls and my partner had the spare ribs which were delicious. We both went for the Massaman Curry for mains which was quite nice, not mindblowing like others I have experiences. The big draw back is the price, the food portions and quality are better elsewhere and for a about 20euro cheaper than Thai Orchid. I would recommed it for those who are looking for nice meal in the very heart of Dublin, but there are better Thai restaurants hidden in less obvious locations.

Heard this was good thorugh various sources, so tried it out one night on the spur when a friend was in town. I've been to some really good thai restaurants before and this doesn't match up to be honest. Its not bad, but its not great either, little overpriced for what you get quality wise. Wouldnt be in a hurry back, more of a glorified chinese was my impresssion on leaving.

This is a lovely little restaurant right in the heart of the city... Four of us ate here for dinner on Saturday after the rugby and were delighted with the food and very pleased with the service... The portions are generous but not huge and average main course seems to be between €11 and €15.... The restaurant itself has a very relaxed atmopshere and I will certainly go back....

I used to come here all the time a few years back so was looking forward to my visit. The early bird was good value the starter was nice and the beef honey chili with cashew was also really nice - the noodles were cold when they arrived but once highlighted the staff kindly sorted that out for us. It was value for money but I fear like most restaurants the standard of food has dropped slightly in accordance with the prices. Next time I'll try the a la carte rather than the early bird.

I came here before the theatre with my friend. I availed of the early bird and got veggie spring rolls to start, which were very tasty. My friend got a prawn soup which she thought was delicious. She also really enjoyed her main, prawn curry. For my main I ordered mixed vegetable and cashew nuts with rice. The soya sauce was very thick and a small bit over powering. There was a good mix of vegetables, however it really lacked something. The menu was disappointing for vegetarians to say the least. The meal came to 68 euro (we had a bottle of red wine too), which i think was a small bit on the pricey side. If i went again I would ask for tofu or something to spice up the boring veggie meals.

Didn’t expect to find such a nice restaurant on Westmoreland street! Very convenient if you find yourself hungry around town in the early evening- I’ve always been able to pop in without a reservation, good atmosphere and the Green Curry is delicious.

Ate here last Friday and the food & service was fantastic. No complaints here. i had the thai green curry and it was as good as the real mccoy in Thailand. Amazing! I also liked the cosy atmosphere of the place. On the other hand, if you looking for any remnants of the Celtic Tiger, you will find him munching away in here as I found it ridiculously over priced. The menu prices need to be updated here. You can expect to pay at the very least, €19 for a main that does not include rice. A single (relatively small) portion of rice costs €3.50, again very excessive. Great food, great service, poor value for money. KJ

I have been to this place a few times. Initially I loved it as it was the first place to serve me a thai green curry that resembled that which I used to have whilst on trips to Thailand. However when I visited again along with my 3 friends last night we had a different experience. My starter of chicken satay was overcooked, my thai green curry was curdled ( all 3 of us who had it agreed) and not at all spicy even though the green curry is supposed to be the hottest. Finally the service was lacklustre and somewhat clinical. I had rang them to tell them it was my friends birthday and if a birthday desert could be arranged but they forgot all about it. I wouldnt rush back now that there is plenty of similar value elsewhere.

As you can see below this was my favourite restaurant up until yesterday :( I noticed the more I went the smaller the portions were getting, yesterday was the worst ever and the price has gone up over €5 in a very short time. I took a good look around before I left as I will not be going back. I'm so dissappointed now I have to look for a new favourite restaurant, I don't know what they changed here whether it be management or cook but I wish they'd unchange it. Absolutely love this place have been millions of times, although I think they have new owners as portions have got smaller, I don't mind but my boyfriend would like them to go back to the big portions :) The staff are very friendly and aim to please. Have the Pad Thai you will not be dissappointed. Without a doubt the best Thai restaurant in Dublin. Enjoy! :)

The early bird here is really good value and the food is great but I don't think i'd stretch to paying for the a la carte again as it's on the slightly pricey side! The restaurant has a few flaws - the tables for 2 are tiny and a lot of adjustment needs to be done to fit everything on! The service is very friendly but ridiculously quick. Like most people, I don't enjoy my meal as much if the main course arrives practically as I'm swallowing my last mouthful of starter! Depsite all the before-mentioned flaws - I find myself returning to this restaurant time & time again! Can't resist the dumplings and crispy beef with honey & chilli!

Had dinner here on Thu last. The menu is just too big! And then it seemed that there was hardly anything for my vegetarian friend to choose from, which I thought unusual for a Thai restaurant. They also gave her prawn instead of vegetable tempura, which she was very unhappy about. Having said that, I enjoyed my food, as did the other (non veggie!) diner. However, the service was not great, especially towards the end of the night - we were sitting upstairs, and were waiting for ages for someone to come up. Also, I felt it is overpriced. I wouldn't mind trying the early bird, but I won't be rushing back for the a la carte menu - and I won't be bringing any vegetarian friends!

I went here on Friday. Hadn't intended on having the early bird menu as I just wanted a main dish, however there was nothing vegetarian on the al a carte menu (menupages menu is not accurate). I ended up having the spring rolls starter and he had the deep fried veggie dish. Nothing special, just the same as in any chinese restaurant or frozen food dish. There were no veggie thai curry options unfortunately. I had a noodle/tofu/veggie dish. It was ok but way too sweet for my liking. He had the other veggie option which was veggies in soy sauce. Not bad but not worth the cost. With 2 beers and a tea & coffee (course 3 of the early bird menu) the bill came to around €55. A bit steep for not very good food. We would have left after discovering no veggie food but we'd already ordered beer, had our jackets taken and had trusted the menupages menu. The staff were attentive so that was good but I had to mark the atmosphere down as the man at the table next to us had his shoes off and his feet on the chair opposite him - yuck! We definitely won't be going back.

Went for dinner here on Saturday night, and really enjoyed it. It wasn't too busy, so we felt very relaxed as we enjoyed our meal. I had spring rolls for starters, and rice noodles with tofu and veg for main. They were delicious. My boyfriend had the prawns and beef in black bean sauce, which he really enjoyed. We decided to split a desert of warm chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. Yum!!! Our meal came to 90 euro with a bottle of wine, we thought it was reasonable enough. Would definately return.

I went for quick bite after work on a Monday evening and even though it was very early 6pm it was very busy. I think this is due to the very good value early bird menu. I didnt order off the early bird however. We had the mixed starter for 2 which was in my opinion very very overpriced at €17. And the selection was very typical - chciken satay, chicken dumpling, tempura prawn and vegetable spring roll. Not worth it at all. I then had the red chicken curry with fried noodles, the portions are massive and I struggled to eat even half of the dish. It was nice but the volume put me off slightly. My friend had the spicy noodles which she chooses every time - she loves them. We both had a bottle of singha. The bill was €72 which was a bit steep. I have been a regular customer here for years and I will continue to eat here in the future.

Thought the food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful but unfortunately there was a slight accident and some of my uncles soup landed on his lap. They were very apologetic and did their best to clear it up and bring a fresh soup. Have been to this restaurant several times now and would definitely return again as its really reasonable price for such good food.

This was one of my favourite lunchtime hideouts, but unfortunately not anymore. I had lunch with my friend here last month, the restaurant was packed as usual with enthuastic diners. Regretably the cleanliness of this place has taken a down turn. All of the dishes were grotty, some even had dirt stuck to them, when we got them replaced the 'new' ones were still grubby. The food was ok, the service was excellent. But sadly this 'used to be' restaurant seems to be seriously lacking in cleanliness. Hopefully it was a once off and is spotted quickly and put back to its old enticing self.

Good value set menu with a good choice. Food was lovely and filling. Service charge for Tables of 5 though on a set menu early bird kind of takes the shine off a bit. Worth a try though if you are in the area.

Have been here several times over the last few years and the food has been delicious each time. recently tried their duck spring rolls which were amazing. Downstairs is particularly nice as you have more space. The menu is reasonably priced for the quality of the food you get. Chances are you will be in and out fairly quick (around an hour if you just get a starter and main course with no wine) but with its location that ideal if you're heading to the abbey or on to a pub.

Great tasty food, the sweet chilli sauce is to die for, tastes exactly like the one I had in Thailand. The early menu is great value, highly recomended.

went for my Dads birthday on Friday night. Was surprised how quiet the restaurant was as thought it would be packed. wasn't impressed with the seating, wonky old wooden chairs and some were broken. After a few change or tables we settled for corner table downstairs. Was great atmosphere very quiet and not very nice decor. Food was superb. the mixed platter starter was nicest ever had and the corn cakes were lovely. Have yellow curry and was nice and mild. Everyone had lovely meal. Service is bit slow but all round would go back.

For where it's located it really is a find. It's not that pricey and you can't find better Thai food anywhere. I eat here at least twice a month, and if I ever have to entertain friends, its here I always do it. Great place with great service, where you are never rushed, and a great atmosphere. It has the lot. Also, the staff are the same every time I have visited for the last 2 yrs. So, obviously the good staff are acknowledged as an important part of this great restaurant.

I'll admit that I wasn't expecting great food or service from what I presumed to be a tourist-oriented restaurant. So I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and food. And for thai food, the price wasn't as high as in other city centre restaurants.

Had read the reviews and heard great stories but was disappointed on my visit. I ordered the fish cakes for starters and they were so greasy, small and tasteless. Main course was ok but then dessert; you could only get banana fritters or ice cream or both together. Won't be rushing back.

This is an excellent Thai restuarant. Cosy and unpretentious with great food and attentive service. I have been here a few times and always go for the Massaman curry because it's gorgeous. So unfortunately I can't comment first-hand on the other dishes, although everybody I've been with has enjoyed their different meals. Also the portions are quite generous so you'll be full leaving here. Decent early bird menu too. Check out the killer Deep fried Ice cream for dessert if you can fit it in.

This is a great place to enjoy Thai food. Flavoursome and fragrant dishes are the norm here, served by friendly efficient staff. Four of us went there on a busy recent Thursday evening. Not being able to choose from the varied menu we had the set meal (lotus for 4). This got us the combination starter (lovely and varied) followed by a delicious prawn and crab clay dish, crispy beef, a coconut and beef curry and a very tasty sweet and sour chicken dish. All of this washed down with 2 bottles of lovely bin 555 came to just 200 euro - good value too. Worth another visit.

Lovely place. Ive been a few times now and have always enjoyed it. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Theres nothing better than stopping in here and having one of the beautiful rich fragrant curries washed down with some Tiger beer. I would recommend that if you book, to ask for a table upstairs as the view is better but also it can get a bit cramped downstairs. Overall a very nice place that I would recommend to anybody. Simple, great tasty food, you cant go wrong!

I adore this place! I've been to the Thai Orchid a number of times and I've never left disappointed. The beef in Red Curry is a particular favourite of mine and they've a decent enough wine list too. Great food and good service - I'll definitely be going back!

I have been to the Thai Orchid on many occasions - I love it for genuine good tasting Thai food at a reasonable price!! The early bird is wonderful value - and been a vegetarian who hates tofu they have accomodated me with varying the dishes to my likeness at no extra cost and without making a deal of it. Service has always been efficient there's a lovely Thai waiter who is welcoming and friendly - fantastic restaurant!!

I like this place, the atmosphere is lovely! Food is good, menu is varied, and it's not overly expensive. We had lovely starters of fish cakes and yummy chicken satay on our last visit. My main of a yellow curry was very tasty, but my friend was not happy with her rice and vegetable dish. Pity we missed the early bird! It's not the best Thai I've ever had, but I like the food here.

I really love this restaraunt, the early bird is good value and food is of a very good quality. Staff are pleasant there is a varied wine list. Granted you can find a cheaper early bird in other restaraunts ( the price here is around €20) but i think the quality and portion size justifies it.

Eat here last week...Was OK.... Actually not much to rave home about. Food was ok but was kinda rushed between starter and main. Kinda felt like there were too many tables crammed into the small area downstairs.. Toilets were manky, made me wonder what state the kitchen was in.. Wouldn't go again.

Been here for the early bird a few times now. Food is always very tasty and you'll always be full after a starter and main course. Service is very fast, sometimes a bit too fast, as in you are only finished your starter and the main course is out before your food has time to settle in your tummy. Also they could do with a change on the early bird menu. Not a huge choice when it comes to the red or green curries. But apart from that i would definitely recommend it.

Very Ordinary Thai I visited Thai Orchid with some friends and found it to be very ordinary and not even good value. The venue itself is fine if a bit of a paint by numbers job, but the menu doesn’t get you excited and the flavours are not as distinctive as they should be in a good Thai. Nothing jumps out at you like it does in other such places around town. I would echo the comment below that 5.75 for a beer is very steep, especially for Chang beer. I will not be rushing back.

I ate out at the Thai Orchid for the second time two days ago and was pleasantly surprised that standards had gone up from my first visit 6 months ago, not that standards were low that time. The starter I had of steamed chicken dumplings was delicate and lightly flavoured and my main of spicy noodles with prawns and chicken was delicious and filling. Maybe a little expensive but the service was great and altogether the meal was a success.

The service was very quick, but didn't feel rushed to leave. Food was very nice and we got all got great craic trying to pronounce the menu. Not overly priced. The only problem was very small, not good for large groups as you feel you're being too loud. But overall very nice place to dine out.

I've been here twice and really enjoyed it. First time was on a date and second was with a large group. Both times service was excellent. Food is really good value. When I went with the group it was a Saturday night and there was a great atmosphere. Both times I tried the duck dishes and they were fab. Really can’t fault it at all.

I really liked this restaurant. Although l thought the tables a little pushed together and you could overhear everyone's conversations. The ambience was nice the service excellent and the food delicious. Everyone enjoyed and shared. Early bird menu from Sun to Thurs 5pm to 7.30 and Fri to Sat 5pm to 7pm at a cost of 17.95 Euro. Favourite Dish: Starters cost from 6 Euro for Thai spring rolls with a sweet chilli sauce. Also on the menu, grilled marinated tiger prawns in a peanut sauce, Thai fish cakes, mussels, and chicken and coconut soup all between €6 and €8. You can also order a Thai Orchid Platter for 2/3 people at a cost of €2, which works out at better value. Main courses consist of Green, yellow and red curries. Stir fried beef or chicken, tiger prawns, stir-fried squid, fried noodles. Expect to pay from €13 to €18 for a main course.

The Thai restaurant is slightly disappointing. The decor looks good, the atmosphere is intimate and friendly but the chairs are in bits and the tables rock constantly. The food is passable, tasty enough, large portions but doesn’t taste totally fresh, i.e. the chicken dumplings don’t seem like they have been made freshly from chicken pieces, they taste like pre-made nuggets or something. A bottle of Tiger beer costs E5.75, very dear even by City Centre standards and they add on a 10% surcharge to your bill just in case your not a tipper I assume. Overall not a restaurant I would visit again.

A beautiful taste of the Orient. One of the restaurant's specials, the Weeping Tiger, was absolutely gorgeous, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone trying the restaurant for the first or even the fifth time!
