The restaurant was not too busy when we entered. We were seated and our order was taken very speedily. We were given free popidoms as we waited on out food. The service was friendly and food was tasty, not as spicey as other indian restaurants i have been to, although we asked for hot. It was very reasonable and overall a great experience.

My boyfriend and I came upon this restaurant a few months ago..we were attracted by the brilliant early bird menu. there is free poppadums and dips. the wine is very reasonable..EUR13.95 for the house white.really tasty. the early bird is quite extensive, tho chicken korma isnt included. you get a starter, main plus rice/naan bread for 14EUR. Very tasty food, attentive waiters, lovely atmosphere. We love this place and have returned numerous times, and always have an excellent experience.

Went here for an early bird, they had good options. I chose the vegetable samsoa and chicken jalfrezi. The jalfrezi was way too hot! I have had this dish in other restaurants and enjoyed it. I had to ask for mint sauce here to try cool my burning mouth. We shared pilau rice and peshwari naan both we delicious, as we had peshwari naan instead of plain naan which was included in the price, we where charged the full extra cost at the end. I was not told this at time of ordering, and thought it poor form to add it to the bill. However their free dips with the pomdoms are the nicest I’ve had. The staff were lovely. Decent food, reasonable price but as there are two/three other Indian restaurants on this street I would chose one of them next time.

Read to the bottom - ripped off :-( 6 of us went to a taste of India last friday after work- we were looking to take advantage of the "2 for 1" special at €29.99 for two. My starter , the vegetable samosa was fine and others had onion bhaji and were pleased. two of us had the Lamb Madras for dinner which we found nice and hot but need more Lamb. There was very little there. Other found their meals equally tasty and were happy. The dessert , Culfi was outstanding and this stood out among everything else. Now coming to the problem, We ordered beer throughout the meal, (these bottles were cobra which were a little bigger than normal (660ml I think) - between 6 guys we have 16 bottles altogether which were charged at just under €8 per bottle each!! That came to €120 for the beer alone which doubled the price of the meal exactly!! I found this to be a complete rip off so my advice is to stay away... Im sorry to say.

I am really sad I have to write a bad review for this place because the stuff was very nice. But the food unfortunately was not. I had a vegetarian dish which was very plain and considering it cost 15 with rice too expensive but the real disaster was my husband’s Lamb Vindaloo. It was so unbelievably hot that he just could not eat it and had about 4 pieces of meat in a lot of tomato sauce. The people next to us had the same problem with their dishes. It just did not taste like anything because it was too hot.

There is one very good reason to eat at Taste of India - their lunch menu is one of the best deals in town. For €7.25, a basket of pappadams with fun, tasty dips is provided (for free) before selecting from the reasonably comprehensive main menu with a selection of rices is provided. I have tried the lamb bhuna and chicken korma. The ingredients are fresh, the meat is juicy and tasty, and the very healthy portion sizes mean you're on to a winner for the price. The setting is a little bit disconcerting - a little dull and uninspired, and there seemed to be some serious repair work going on at a window seat we wanted to sit at on the last occasion I ate there, but the service is friendly and reasonably attentive. The real success here though is the great value and very decent, tasty mains.

Three of us ate here and were happy with the experience. We shared a prawn, veg and lentil soup starter. The veg biryani was very good and my friends enjoyed their veg korma and a chicken dish. Their prices are good, our bill for 3 people with food and drinks came in under €80

Had a nice meal here on Friday after work. It wasn't too full for a Friday evening but a few groups came in for the Early Bird. Our food was really tasty. the popadoms they bring out at the start are yum and we really liked the onion bajhees and the veggie korma. It's not the cosiest restaurant so we didn't hang around after our main courses but the food was really good and not bad value on the early bird.

Went here on sunday. place was empty but said we would give it a go. There sunday lunch menu is starter+Mains+Side+rice/Naan for 12.95 so thought we had nothing to lose. upon sitting we were given poppadums and chutneys which were very fresh and very tasty( They didn't charge for them either) Starters were fine nothing out of this world. Mains were quite nice only one complaint was one meal should have been spicy and wasn't at all. The Side dishes were very tasty. All in all we were quite happy. order 1 extra rice and 2 peshwari naans and some minerals and the bill came to 87 for 4 adults and 2 kids. Did notice on the menu here that a peshwari naan is 2.55 and they charged 4.5o each so maybe this how they make their money on the lunch. wouldn't go out of my way to come back but would eat here again...you can't argue with the price.

Went in for early bird here which is advertised as having a lot of choice. The restaurant is rather unprepossessing, the service is overly prompt and the food is a bit hit and miss. My major gripe is that we asked for 2 Cobra beers, which we later realised comes in 2 size bottles (330 and 660 mls at just under €4 and €8 respectively), we were not asked which we wanted but were automatically bought the larger, more expensive bottle. Bad form and sufficient to stop me from returning - there are enough other Indian restaurants out there. Otherwise, if you still wish to try it, forearmed as you are: pickles and popadoms arrive directly and are fresh and crunchy. There are a number of starters which are all fairly standard. The Vegetarian Samosa were very tasty but the Seehk Kebab was a bit dry. Then you can choose from a variety of main courses which make up rest of the differently priced set early bird menus - between 14 and 17 € I think. We had Chicken Tikka Makhan which was too mild and a bit stodgey but not bad. The Lamb Karahi was better. Rice or Naan is included. All in €47 ex. service.

I met friends here a few weeks ago. I don't like very hot food so went for a 1 rating and it was nice. The only thing I would say is it stated 9 vegetables but there weren't 9 that I could taste. Very cheerful service.

My boyfriend and I stumbled across this place a few months ago, and have been back numerous times since! The food is divine. I love their chicken Korma and their garlic Naan is delicious. My boyfriend loves spicy foods, and says their madraas is gorgeous. They have a superb early bird menu which runs til 7pm.Their house wine is also a major plus, and it doest cost the earth. We both had a starter and main course plus a bottle of wine for 54EUR! brilliant value in city centre dublin. you cant beat it! They give you a yummy baileys-type shot when you get the bill too which is a nice touch!

Not the best indian I have tasted. It was ok, but for the price they charge it should be better. I think their location is good but would not go back to eat there.

Have been here twice in the last month, first time got a great value early bird and great service. I got the onion bahjii and chiken tikka masala with naan bread and pilau rice with half bottle of wine for €30! However the second time I must say felt we were overcharged with the sneaky service charge which is fine if your going to get good service!!...we did not the second time! Just got a main course and pilau rice with no wine and it was just over €45 which I feel is rather steep for this basic restaurant. While the food is fine there are plenty other restaurants to choose from along the street which I think i'll be doing from now on!

Visited the Taste of India last night after walking in off the street without a booking. No problem getting a seat although the restaurant was reasonably busy. Service was pleasant and efficient but not particularly friendly. As per usual we received the complimentary poppadoms although I was not particularly impressed with these. The onion, mint yoghurt and mango chutney had obviously been resting on a shelf awaiting hungry customers and certainly didn't taste fresh. Naan bread was good along with the pilau rice which accompanied the main course. The main course in general was not especially inspiring and seemed a little dry - not anything to write home about but not inedible either. I suppose it was a little bit simple really. Overall - if you're stuck for somewhere to go and stumble upon the Taste of India, you could do worse - however take a look around, there's a host of better restaurants on the doorstep.

The decor is very basic and doesn't project that warm cosy atmosphere you get in many other Indian restaurants. The staff are friendly enough but the main problem is the food. When are Indian restaurants going to start offering us some new dishes - India is a country of nearly a billion people with probably the most diverse (and tastiest) cuisine in the world! We can get all the ingredients here now so no excuses. And please stop using that red dye!

Can't understand the less than enthusiastic reviews from others. Have been here on a number of occasions and have always been impressed. Went for an early bird recently with our three-year-old son and the staff were extremely helpful- they have no kids menu but do half portions instead, which is nice as we hate that it's always sausages and chips and the likes for kids in restaurants. He had chicken korma with pilau rice and ate every last bit- along with some of his dad's food and a lot of naan bread and poppodoms. Great for early bird as there are three price ranges to choose from with three courses in each. Found the decor to be comfortable. Food was delicious as always. We lived in London for a year, so we're quite picky when it comes to the quality of Indian restaurants. Lots of vegetarian options too. I will definitely go back again as it's become one of my favourites.

Went here last friday for an early bird, the lassi and the chicken tikka masala where ok, but nothing too great..... The restaurant was quit full which gave atmosphere otherwise it would have been quite empty. The prices are ok, but I think the rice is overpriced at almost 5 euro for a small plate....

Not impressed by this restaurant. The food was bland and all of our main dishes lack any kind of sauce. The basics were nice i.e. the rice, naan and popadoms, but the mains were dissappointing. The decor also was not great. Food was also far too expensive for the quality of the food. Would not go back.

I've gotten take-away from here on several occasions, but definitely prefer it's near neighbour - Diwali. The portion sizes are quite small (I once had only 3 bite size pieces of chicken in my tikka masala) and the service (even though it's take-away) wasn't remotely friendly.

Decor here is awful and I wouldn't say the staff are the friendliest but the food is absolutely excellent and I'd definitely go back again. They do genuine Indian desserts which is rare in lower priced Indian restaurants. Good value for money but don't expect good wine.

Great food even if the service is not the best. Wonder whether some of the staff are blind because they don’t see you at all. The food makes up for it though and the desserts are tasty and hit the spot before or after a night on the tiles.

This place was horrible - did not like it at all! I booked a table here for myself and my boyfriend for Friday nite. When we got to the restaurant the place was full and so was our table - actually we weren’t even asked about our reservation, rather just asked would we mind sitting downstairs as there was no tables upstairs. We agreed thinking that there was a similar restaurant area downstairs only to find a small poky room with 3 tables and a direct view of the kitchen and toilets with nobody else there. I wanted to go and find another restaurant but as we were so hungry, my boyfriend convinced me to give the place a chance. We ordered and while the food was ok, my boyfriend received the wrong order and then the waiter argued with him for ages trying to convince him that he'd ordered something completely different. Anyway eventually the waiter returned to the kitchen and came bk 5 seconds later with a dish that was identical to the dish he had just brought out! Will never visit this place again, service was very slow, then again we were put down in a little room away from the entire restaurant so what do you expect!

Was VERY disappointed in Taste of India. Have been next door on a few occasions and had thoroughly enjoyed but I read reviews that Taste of India was better, how wrong they were! The staff were nice enough the food wasn't awful but was no way near as good as next door. I was thoroughly disappointed and felt my night out that I’d so been looking forward to was a bit of a let down. So all in all I wouldn't say it's the worst restaurant I’ve eaten in but it's not a patch on next door.

Have eaten here in this restaurant and liked it. It’s small and gets quite packed. There are no surprises in the cooking but the food is very tasty and there are some very good early bird options. This street has really taken off in the last few years. Great atmosphere and good basic Indian food.

I ate here recently with three family members. When we entered the waiter showed us our table by nodding to it! No "good evening, may I take your coat" here! That set the scene for the level of service. We waited half an hour for our starters, but when the food came it was fabulous, plentiful and very tasty. So, we left very satisfied with the food, but certainly didn't feel that our custom was valued. That waiter did not want to be there! As it was a birthday and anniversary celebration we felt a little deflated.

I have gone to many restaurants but this was the worst experience I have ever had. The staff were rude, unhelpful, dismissive and my personal favourite as we waited for our food the waiter was washing his teeth in the sink that was visible to everyone. We probably wouldn’t have noticed but when he was spitting and gargling it was hard not to notice. The food was not good at all and for the price...I wouldn’t go back even if they paid me to eat there. Steer clear people!
