We have just registered with Menupages but have used it many times before. We have just dined at Sagaar this evening having bought a voucher for 2 starters,2 Mains,2 Desserts and a bottle of house wine for 49.95. The location was convenient to the Luas line and we entered the restaurant in the basement with a little trepidation after having read some of the reviews of Saagar ranging from wonderful to dreadful. The dining room is high roofed and pleasant but could do with a coat of paint to brighten it up. I had vegetable samosa to start and my wife had Tandoori butterfly prawns both of which were good particularly the prawns (2 euro supplement) . We both had lamb dishes I had lamb tikka kahari and my wife lamb tikka masala. Again both were good with a nice depth of flavour and we shared a basmati rice and naan bread which were tasty. However no desserts were offered only tea or coffee which was disappointing. The house wine was a french pays d'oc merlot which was good and resonably priced. The experience was spoiled upon asking for the bill which should have been E4.50 for the supplement and the naan bread. A handwritten bill for E80.35 less the voucher value arrived requesting an extra 30 euro. We queried this explaining the voucher and it was rectified immediately. Either the owners do not understand voucher deals or are trying it on to get extra payment?. Don't sign up to do deals if you are unhappy with them. Good food but cannot recommend until last issue is rectified.

I used a menupages deal voucher recently and was impressed. The food was very tasty and we had access to most of the a la carte menu with the exception of king prawn dishes which carried a supplement. The service was very friendly and courteous throughout. Even though we were 20 mins late for our booking we were greeted with smiles. The only downside was the lack of atmosphere. On a friday night we were one of three tables! Such a shame as people are really missing out on good food here. Hopefully things will pick up for them so everyone can enjoy a better atmosphere too. Do give it a go.

We ate here after buying a voucher. The food was beautiful and my boyfriend ordered king prawns which were the same price I had paid for the whole voucher but this was not a problem and he was served a huge portion which he is still craving to try again. The staff were nice and the restaurant itself is unusual.

My son brought me for a belated Mothers Day lunch. We had a beautiful meal, at a window table .Service was excellent despite how busy they got. We..family & girlfriends, had evening meal using vouchers last Oct and again were delighted with the whole experience.Couldn't fault the restaurent or staff in any way, they went out of their way to produce candles & sing Happy Birthday to me!!! Well done Saagar, keep up the good work. Going back next Fri with more of the family.

I agree with the last comment made. We bought a voucher and were treated very abrutly as well. The waiter had no personality and didn't smile once. The starter was nice but I ordered a simple chciken korma for my main and the chicked was horrible and did not actually taste like chicken. I could not eat any of it and I didn't bother even saying anything as he didn't seem like he would care and where most restaurants would ask why did you did not like the meal when you did not eat it he didn't even ask. Overall it was an unpleasant experience and would never go back here.

Myself and my fiance visited this restaurant on 14/03 on a deal voucher. On arrival we were greeted in a very abrupt manner with a request for our voucher. We were then seated by the same very rude waiter who pointed to the dishes we were alowed to choose from without even speaking to us. The food was nice but the meal was ruined by the service and general attitude. This restaurant should not offer vouchers if they are not prepared to accept them in a gracious manner. There are far more superior Indian restaurants close to this one

I visited Saagar for the first time, had seen positive reviews. First impression was the decor was a bit dated, but that's ok once the food is good right? Waiter came to take our orders, a number of the starters were unavailable and there were problems with the availability of wines too. Why have them on the menu/list if they're not in stock? So, lets move on to the main event, the food. I had onion baji, it was fine, partner had a prawn dish, although you'd be hard pressed to find a prawn. Both were average.Main course, I had Lanb Bhuna and partner had Chicken Jaipuri. The wrong order was brought to my partner, she got a jalfrezi by mistake, they were slow to change it, meanwhile the bhuna, rice and naan going cold. Once order corrected, we got stuck in, the Bhuna was poor, I've had better takeaways, my partner said hers was very poor too. The food was served in cheap bowls and the plates had a design on them, I thought they looked mexican themed. I honestly thought they were underplates. Also, she said there weer no lights in the toilets.

Myself and my fiance ate here in January using a deal we bought, I wasnt very impressed the decor is old and grubby and the toilets were filthy. We were seated down the back of the restaurant and it was dark and dingy. The food was gorgeous and I cant fault it in that respect. If the restaurant was made more modern and cleaned up I would revisit it but as it stands I wont be going back.

I had a great experience there, and have been there 2/3 times in the last month and will definitely be back. I had a lovely prawn dish for starter and then had the Rainbow Chicken for main(which I would highly recommend), it was absolutely beautiful! I also asked for a Mango Lassi (Mango flavored yogurt drink) which is lovely and goes very well with spicy dishes. I will go there again and they also have an excellent early bird menu. I have been to many Indian restaurants, even two in the famous brick Lane of London and Saagar blew them out of the water. Well done.

I would highly recommend this Restaurant to anyone who likes Indian food. It is some of the best Indian food I have ever tried. The portions are large which is good, though you will probably not be able to fit in desert. I ordered lamb kolapuri which I picked as one of the spiciest dishes, and it lived up to expectations. The lamb was also excellent, infact even the dips for your popadoms are far above average. I would recommend you try the King Cobra beer they have, a large bottle of cobra beer which is 8% so be careful! Friendly staff over all, location very handy just off St Stephens green on Harcourt street. There would be no real negatives that spring to mind.

My wife and I ate here last Saturday night. We were dining on a voucher so value was very good, but even so they provide good value with €10 2-course lunch menu, and an evening value menu for less than €20. The restaurant was comfortably full with a good atmosphere. Food was excellent, delicious, plentiful and well presented. Service was a little slow but not uncomfortably so. Overall a nice experience.

We got a fantastic deal for a two course meal for two in Saagar. The food was amazing, with a huge selection. We got beautiful lamb starters and a chicken dish that was cooked to perfection. The wine was also very good and reasonably priced. I would return here and would recommend it too!

We went in and ordered the value meal and had high expectations due to the awards that they had won. There was only 3 other tables in but the place was perfect for a couple. I have to say Im impressed with the value and quality, it is one of the best value meals in Dublin City. They also brought fresh water and free poppdums immediately to the table as we ordered. Our meal contained a a free bottle of wine.We had crispy onion bhajis and spicy samosas to start. For mains, I had rogan josh while my girlfriend went for the tikka masala. The portions were big and food was very tasty. We both had Kulfi for dessert, it is definitely the best Ive tasted and Ive lived in London for years. The staff were efficient and seemed to know the menu, he recommended the dessert. We also got free refills with our coffees which is always a nice touch and some sweets with the bill. All in we spent €65(including tip) because we ordered dessert and coffee which was great value. I am going to check out their lunch deal in the next few weeks.

Funny Restaurant Experience. I had booked a reservation which was never recorded in their bookings, but luckily a waiter remebered the phone call which I made the same day. Had a Groupon voucher which entitled us to 55.90e of a la carte food! Went with Chicken Tikka starter and Tikka Masala for main, the other half went for Tandorri Chicken and Chicken Tikka Karai, both mains were nice but starters were a little small. Nan bread/garlic nan bread were nice. Have to say place does look a bit dilapidated Owner was apoligetic about mix up for reservation which was appreciated. Heard many people raving about this place but I don't see why...

As per the Dealrush voucher claiming an award winning restaurant we were expecting good food and a hospitable evening. The voucher claimed to give €50 off the a la carte prices. The table cloth was linen and covered partly by a smaller paper covering. This left the linen partially uncovered and there were several stains on the uncovered parts. The linen cloth over my knees was also badly stained with food and the linen tablecloth on the adjoining table had a large coffee stain. The decor in the restaurant was dilapidated. There were many stains and marks on the walls and the restaurant could do with re-decoration. The restaurant was quite empty. We placed our order - two king prawn starters, a main chicken tandoori dish for my wife and I had a tandoori mixed grill for myself. The food was dry and not very appetising. The starter prawn dish had an oily rancid taste. We ordered coffee and asked what choices they had - all they had was normal coffee and we were told their coffee machine was broken and they could not provide anything else. The coffee came with some cold milk - no chocolates; no offer of any refill. The wine was not properly chilled and no cooler or wine bucket was proffered. On request the waiter said that they had none. I asked for the bill and this is when matters really went awry. The bill presented to us was scribbled with many crossings out and quite unprofessional. Many of the prices were much higher than the menu price. The manager came over. He said that with a voucher he increased the prices. He insisted on the full amount billed. He said that he would lock us in the restaurant if we did not pay the full bill as presented. In the end he grudgingly conceded that he was wrong on on the price and we left. I have since taken the matter up with Dealrush and they have agreed to reimburse the total cost of the meal. I could not recommend this restaurant and positively encourage would be diners to go elsewhere. The standards are low and the management extremely poor and unpleasant. Be warned

Went to this well known Indian Restaurant with a work lunch function last Friday. Everyone was on the Credit Crunch menu of €9.55 for starter and main course which is great value. Interior and atmosphere is nice, staff were very attentive and friendly. Starters impressed and ranged from Vegetable Samosas to Onion Bhajhs etc. Good sized portions for both starters and main courses. Mains of Chicken Korma and Vindaloo with at least five options per course and available as spicy or as mild as required. Main courses a little disappointing, food not overly warm and dishes seemed basic enough.

I work near here and had to stop by to change a booking so decided to have a spot of lunch on my own. Its great value and very large portions, i actually couldn't finish my main course and left some of the naan bread, but the quality of the food was excellent and the service was good too. I didn't have the chance to use the restroom on this occasion but last time I was here one was flooded and the other was out of order so I had to use the mens. Despite this , I am looking forward to my next visit for dinner. Recommended.

We visited this last night for the first time. The guy on the phone was very helpful in guiding us to it. When we arrived there was about 25 Indians in there eating. Impressive for any night, never mind a Wednesday. We seemed to be the only Irish. Decided to get some food I never had before and it was delivered quickly, on a huge (colourful) plate. It was delicious. Service was excellent, with staff managing to check on us regularly and top up our water before it went down. We were using a €40 voucher that I paid €20 for. Dinner for two, wine for one and a side portion between us cost €40.65 and he said "the voucher covers it". Great value!

I had heard great things about Sagaar and pass it on my way to work, so I was keen to try it. I ended up going there on a Sunday evening. It was very quiet, which suited us fine. The ambience of the place isn't great, feels slightly like sitting in someone's house in that it is quite bright compared to other restaurants. The staff are friendly and it's great value. Most importantly, the food was good, although not amazing. I had a fairly standard meal, a chicken tikka masala, and it was very tasty. The onion bhajis for starter were delicious. Overall I would recommend this restaurant for its handy location and great prices, although it lacks a little something to be ideal for a special occasion.

Went there on Saturday night with my boyfriend, it was very quiet in the restaurant but realistically what can you expect at 7pm on the night of an Ireland international football match! The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful and courteous. They have some excellent special value deals at the moment too. This visit was our first and it most definitely will not be our last, cant wait to go back!

I was here on Sat night and the place was half empty unfortunately. The wine was good but I'm afraid I wasn't overly impressed with the some of the food. I ordered the vegetable jalfrezi which should be fairly hot and spicy and mine wasn't. Also, they used frozen veg in the curry (you can tell by the carrots). I would nearly always order jalfrezi in an Indian and this one was not great. However, the sag aloo was very tasty. My friend got the korma and said it was nice but not great. I think their location isn't great to get a lot of people going to it. Their food would need to be of a very high standard for people to hear about it and go there.

I went here on a monday night with my boyfriend. We were the only people in here for the first while, with a few tables filling up later. I love that we got poppadoms with various sauces while deciding to order, and the sauces were very tasty. For the main course I got the chicken Jalfrezi and my boyfriend got the lamb Rogan Josh. They were both good but nothing spectacular. Overall, I wasnt overly impressed by the place, but the portions were very big, the food was okay and it was great value for money.

Went for a meal here 3 weeks ago with some friends, availed of one the special offers starter, main course, glass of wine and coffee for 2, 50.00 euro. Great value, didnt think much of the starters, loved my main course. A bit dingy looking inside, could do with a make-over.

Came here on a voucher. Room, needs a bit of freshening up. It's a nice area for a basement. €500 and a hard couple of days work would go a long way. We had the value menu with the addition of a big prawn main course off the a la carte. The value menu items were all ordinary take away standard, although, in fairness, priced accordingly, while the prawn in batter dish was a bit better and a generous portion, but a little oily. Service was excellent, although even with the voucher, they managed to undercharge us.

I visited this restaurant to celebrate two birthdays, my own and my partner's. I had a voucher purchased from Pigsback.Com for a deal comprising two starters, two main courses, two desserts and two glasses of wine, and in small print on the voucher it stated it was to the value of €50, a fact which was loudly and embarrassingly stated several times to us by our waiter, who told us he was "fed up" with people coming in with vouchers, that 300 people had bought them and his boss wouldn't allow the original deal to go ahead. Pretty upset, we ordered two starters and had a very uninteresting potato dumpling thing and an ok sheekh kebab. Tandoori chicken main course was very undercooked, and we were ignored when we pointed this out. Lamb Dansak was very good, but having finished our two glasses of wine, we ordered two more, and the waiter hid the label while pouring, even though I asked if it was the same wine as the glasses hadn't been changed, and when I tasted it, it was very badly corked, absolutely disgusting. A couple at the next table had sent the bottle back and recognised it being brought to our table. The toilets in the restaurant are absolutely disgusting, like something from a railway station that has never been cleaned properly, and overall the night was not a success. I certainly won't be visiting again, especially since they charged us for the second two glasses of wine, even though we hadn't had desserts, and hadn't used the total of €50 value they were insisting on. On contact with Pigsback to complain, the restaurant admitted that they were not honouring the deal they had entered into and promised to do so. Too late for us, unfortunately.

Wow I love this place, have been several times and always perfect. They have an unbelieveable lunch menu for 9.99 for two courses and they don't slack on the service or food as some others do. Nice choices of wine too and staff are so lovely and friendly. Love it.

Visited this restaurant last night with a Megadeal Voucher . Had never been before so was unsure about the quality...Am so glad I took a chance. The waiters could not have been more friendly. We were shown to our table immediately and Poppadums with the nicest varieties of chutney were served immediately. Starters were Prawn Puri and Lamb Sheek Kebab both of which were generous portions and very tasty. We both went for Chicken Dishes with Pilau Rice and Naan bread to share. The Rogan Josh was delicious as was the Chicken Makhani. Again generous portions. Washed down with a lovely bottle of reasonably priced wine. Bill total was €67. Only downside to the entire experience was the acoustics in the room ensured we could eavesdrop on the couple on the far side of the room. Go with a group and you should have no problems!

Ate in here with a 2 for 1 voucher I had so it was excellent value. The restaurant is located in the basement of a building on Harcourt St and is well signed. There was very little atmosphere in here when I went just before Christmas with only 2 tables occupied. It is quite spacious restuarant with 2 sections. We were given poppodoms and 4 dips to start which was nice. One of the dips in particular was excellent and full of flavour. I had the veg samosa to start and my companion had the aloo tikka chaat. Both were tasty and served nicely but they weren't anything special. I had Bombay Aloo and my companion had Veg Kalopuri served hot. My Bombay potatos were fine but not the best I've had. They need more depth of flavour and more sauce. My companion's Kalapuri was the hottest meal he had ever had. He managed to eat it with the aid of cooling raita and pashwari naan.It had wonderful depth and range of flavours but it is only for people who can eat very hot food.It is a pity the medium spiced dishes did not have the same depth as this dish. The naan was delicious, as was the wine. The pilau rice was ordinary. Service was a little abrupt and unfortunately the waiter's English was poor. Will return again as they do great deals but not my new favourite Indian despite their many awards.

I went here on the Wednesday two days before New Year’s eve and I was chocked how quiet the restaurant was. There were only another two tables with two guests each with our table of three. The place was a bit cold and I think because of the water problems around the city the toilets were not working. I would had like to have a sign on the toilet doors telling that. Otherwise I really enjoyed the food and the portions were very generous. The service was really good and the staff nice and chatty with us. They seem to do a lot of different deals so it was pity it was so quiet that night.

The atmosphere in this restaurant a bit dull and wasn't exactly relaxing. The furniture seemed old and worn. The staff were attentive and did try to look after us. The starters (onion bajhe) were very big and we couldn't finish them. We weren't blown away by the main courses either. Ordered vindaloo extra, extra hot. But it was fairly mild and the garlic naan was horrible, it was not made like normal garlic naan, there wasn't any garlic and had a red seasoning instead. Was a bit disappointed and don't think we would go back again.

Viisted here on Saturday night - slightly put off by most of the comments here about "hovering waiters" but we decided to go for it, and in fact didn't have this problem at all - we were asked twice if everything was ok. We also weren't offered water @ the start and had to ask them to bring some. Food was lovely, and quite reasonably priced - along with a €25 bottle of red, the bill came to €80 for 2 starters and 2 mains. Would return!

Went on sat night. Nice atmoshpere, friendly service and really really good food. We had the meal deal for 2 at 40euro including a bottle of wine, was expecting hte wine to be vinegar but it was lovely and the food was really really good, not greasy, no oily film on the food and we enjoyed it very much. We'll return here again.

I went there with a discount voucher, interested in trying new restaurants with good value. I mentioned the deal on booking. The waiter explained the recession busting 40 euro menu and we decided to go for the 50 euro menu instead after the waiter explained that wine, rice and nan was included along with 2 mains and two starters. The food was decent but a member of staff continuously interrupted asking how everything was. At the end of the meal we were presented with a bill for75 euro and the original waiter was nowhere in sight. If you're after a good meal with an old fashion bait and switch recession scam. Saagar is the placed to be.

I went with a group of friends on a Friday night and the restaurant was very quiet when we arrived. We thought it would pick up but it ws quiet for the rest of the night. Atmosphere wasn't great. I had the early bird for 19.95. To start I had the meat platter. There was a piece each of chiken tikka, tandoori chicken and minced lamb.It was a nice sample of food but didn't impress me too much. For mains I had the chicken karahi. The chicken was soft and tender but the sauce was way too sweet and not spicy enough. I've had chicken karahi is other indian places that tasted much better. I tasted some of my friend's sauces and they were all too sweet too. Indian curries should not taste sweet. Anyway, I would not be rushing back there anytime soon. There are far better Indian restaurants in town.

We went to Saagar last night and where very impressed. We had the €50 meal deal; for this we got a €29 bottle of wine (you have a choice), two starters, two main courses and two coffees. The food was fab and the staff where very friendly, the only criticism I would have is if the waiters hovered around abit less. I will definitely be going back.

It had been a while since I was here so I decided to bring a friend for a first visit, it was pretty quite but was later in the evening, we were quickly shown a table and orders were quick to be taken, the food was really good, we just went for the usual well known indian dishes along with bread and rice, overall its a nice restaurant but I always feel it lacks atmosphere, perhaps a good place to bring a large party.

Went here on a Thursday for an early evening meal with a friend. Was wary at first about the location as it is in the basement of a building, but the restaurant itself was nicely done up. We were the only ones in the restaurant at that time so the atmosphere was a bit quite and sometimes I felt like we were being hovered over by the waiters. Overall the wine was lovely and the food was delicious! (we both went for vegitarian options and I went for the spiciest dish) very yummy and all at a decent price. Would definitely like to return at another time.

Was here for a work lunch. We all got the credit crunch deal which is very good value at €9.55. Had the onion bhaji for starter which was really good. Had chicken tikka masala with rice and naan for my main course which were all fine. For less than a tenner you'd be hard pushed to find a better lunch.

It had been about a year since id been here last. The restaurant occupies the basement of the building so its a little concealed. The tandoori chicken was very tasty and i liked the way you could choose to have either a half or full portion. The flavours were good too with a nice blend of herbs and spices. The service was nice n prompt and i must say the waiter was lovely:)

Just had lunch there. Had a very disappointing experience with a saag paneer there at christmas, so had no real desire to go back. People at work have made it quite a regular and trying to convince me how great it was, so gave it another go and..........no. Nice starters, great service but mains were just boring. That is all.

Had dinner there last night and we both really enjoyed it. We went for one of their deals...2 courses and a bottle of wine...€40 total...great price for what we got. Food was excellent too and the portion size just right and everything well presented. Poppadums and dips were also a nice touch. Service was good too...very friendly staff and always checking if everything was ok. Would definitely recommend it and will be going back again soon.

I really like Saagar, I like the linen. I like the tandoori mixed grill. The staff are perfect, they know when you want something, but they leave you alone. It's not a place I want to linger in though.

I've been here twice recently, a week ago for dinner and today for lunch. The offers that are on at the moment are very good value. The food is very enjoyable and the service is great. I will go back for sure and would recommend others to try it out. It's been very quiet whe I've been in so hopefully it'll pick up for them soon.

Have just had lunch here with 3 colleagues. We had been dying to try the special lunch menu - €9.90 for 2 courses. It's located downstairs on Harcourt St. with very nice decor inside. Good choice on menu and poppadoms & dips included in price. PortIons large but I found food a bit bland and service slow. Place very busy however and staff friendly & polite. If they spiced things up a bit would definitely return. After all - Indian food should be full of flavour - even the mild dishes.

Visted Saagar on Saturday night as we could not get a table anywhere else. It should have tipped us off. The food was heavy, greasy and not at all good. The samosa was in filo pastry and was really bland. The nan breads were stodgy and cold. I would recommend avoiding at all costs.

Had dinner in Saagart last night with group of friends. All staff members were very helpful and patient. Some great deals on the menu - starter+main+beer. Portion size very decent. Just dessert menu could have some 'more indian taste' choices :)

Busy, busy with a good buzz at lunch time. Really great value for lunch @ €10. Dips with poppodums a nice touch to nibble initally, Had lamb kebab and veg samosa to start, big portions and very night. Both mains (Rogajosh Chicken & Lamb Tikka) were just the right size for lunch and very tasty. Have a more extensive lunchmenu then is on the site including stir fries. Service was quick too which is always appreciated at lunch. Nice new lunch venue with great service, food & prices :) Today was second visit of many hopefully...

Ate here yesterday for lunch with work. there was only one other table in the restaurant at the time. Found the service pretty efficient and quick, however the food was pretty bland for an Indian restaurant. Overall, decent staff and service, good price but bland food.

My friend and I went for food afterwork on Thursday. There were only five other dinners there at the time. Staff were extreamly helpful and attentive. Food was fantastic! Very big portions. We asked for both ours mains to be packed up and we brought them home. Loved this place, would highly recommend it.

Myself and my friend were the only 2 people in here on a Thursday evening, although they did seem to be sending out a lot of take aways. Because of this and the bright lights there wasn't much of an atmosphere. To start I had Onion Bahjis and my friend had Vegetable Samosas. The portions were huge and very tasty. It was during our starters that we noticed our napkins were damp (and so were the others that we nabbed from the next table). I had the vegetable Kolapuri for main course and this was really really good, however there were way too many mushrooms in it compared to other vegetables. My friend asked for Chicken Rogan Josh which wasn't on the menu but they had no problem making it. The one big downside to the meal was that the garlic naan was really cold so we only picked at that. The bill including tea, 1 diet coke & 1 glass of wine came to €57.50, which is a little on the steep side for an Indian. I'll definitely try it again but maybe on a weekend night.

I've eaten at Saagar quite a few times and have always been happy. Service is good - prompt, but you can linger if you want, without being bothered. Good value for money compared to the nearly 10 euro some cafes around charge for sandwiches!

A group of us were there for dinner Friday evening recently. I have never been so satisfied with an Indian meal, and it was right up there as one of the nicest meals of any sort i've had in a long time. Service was very good too. It was very quiet when we were there, which bothers me a little, only because with food that good they deserve to do well. If the other reviews are anything to go by, lunch seems to be when all the action happens. One other thing did bother me - that I couldn't finish all the food in front of me. Ill be back.

Great value set lunch menu: starter+main+nan or rice for €10. Food is nice enough, though the set menu is fairly sparse. Service could be improved, felt like it was "get you in, get you out" -plates whipped away as soon as you're finished...but then again most workers in the area like a quick lunch.

Have been here a few times for lunch, they have a deal where you get a starter and a main with naan bread for just under €10. The service is good, the food is pretty good too, the only thing I noticed recently is they reduced the portions, it was quite evident all of a sudden, less rice, less everything, so it went from being great value to just ok value. We wont be going as often as we did.

8 of us ate here last Friday lunchtime as it's quite close to work. The lunchtime menu for just under €10 is great value and includes a starter, main course, popadom and Naan bread each! The total bill for the 8 of us was just under €85 - you can't go wrong!

Ate here for a birthday lunch, for the first time and had a really pleasant lunch at a fantastic price! Very pleased with the portiuon sizes and colourful, flavourful food. The staff were rushed off their feet as it was a very busy Friday lunchtime but they still managed to make you feel 'special'. Great value for money, genuinely good food, nice environment, these guys really know what they're doing, Will definitely visit again!

I was here as part of the Trinity College Indian Society Food Night last week, and was just blown away! We got excellent value for money, the food was delicious, and the service was impeccable! If you're there, order the paneer, it's cottage cheese blocks in a creamy sauce with rice; I couldn't get enough! Oh, and of course, the mango lassi is to die for! I'm definitely going back there again.

Was here on Valentines night. Was so disappointed, having been here before and had a lovely meal. The lights were too bright and you felt exposed. There was no music that I could hear and you could hear other tables conversations. The food was disgusting. I never really say this about food as i'm a huge food fan but our tikka masala tasted like value tomato soup! The service was good but it couldn't make up for the lack of ambience and the food.

Just went here for lunch. Had been before but they had stopped doing their spcial lunch deal. They have it back now, probably due to the competition. Well, we were waiting 25 minutes for our starters, which is a big nuisance at lunch time. We had to ask the waiter to bring out the mains straight away. i was still eating my starter when it arrived. They didn't even bring us our drinks while we were waiting for the starter. The menu says that the Madras is a very hot dish but it was actually the mildest Madras I've ever eaten. If you're going to go for a high class quality theme then the food should reflect the tastes of people who have experienced better curries than this. However, it was very tasty and the portions are generous. Just don't go there at lunch time unless it's not busy.

Great food as usual. I ate here with a group last night. we booked on spec but as per other observations there were not many other patrons when we arrived. . There is a Christmas set menu for €19.95 which covers starter, main course and side dish with rice /naan. Fantastic value. the Service was fast and the food was delicious, as is always the case when I have eaten here over the years.

I have gone to Saagar a couple of times with work colleagues. They do a good 2 course lunch for €10. I found the food to be good, portions on the small side and not a great selection for a lunch menu. The service is good quick and efficient. They also offer tea/coffee but the coffee is like treacle! Overall not a bad restaurant to break up the work day but i would not be rushing into it.

I decided to take away some food here instead of eating in, so won't comment on the atmosphere or service. But as for as quality comes, it offers one of the tastiest and unique Indian food I've ever had. Good value for its location.

I ate in Saagar last week and it was not a bad experience. The waiter was attentive but the starters were not so good. The butterfly prawns were rubbery. The mains were much better. The wine list was limited but we got a reasonably priced Rosemount Shiraz which was good. Overall the place is spacious but the food was average.

Ate here last night and was disappointed. It’s been a while since I had been here and I remember it as being much better for food quality and service. However last night we booked a table for 8 people. We managed to drink 5 bottles of wine before our starters were served. We wouldn't have minded except we were the only diners in the restaurant at this time. Even when we were served our starters, the order was wrong and 3 members of our party had to wait even longer for what they ordered. There was mixed reviews of the mains too. And the overall bill seemed a bit pricey for what we got.

You wouldn't normally associate Harcourt St on a Friday night with quiet, but that's just what we found in Saagar. 4 other tables were occupied when we arrived, with 9 people. Of course the positive is that you get your choice of seat in the bright dining room, although the view of a secondary dining room plunged into darkness makes the absence of patrons more striking. Our waiter was extremely eager and tried to drape me with a napkin before I'd even gotten my coat hung off the back of my chair - would have been nice if he could have hung it somewhere, there did afterall seem that they would have the space. We were given the menus, although I was not told of where the wine list was - only my partner was given that privileged information. Our waiter seemed to not want to talk to me at all - he even asked my partner if I was ready to order yet! I was quite stunned by the sexism there and as a consequence I've rated the service lower. Anyway, we ordered and after a while out comes the tin wheely trolley with our food - single handedly destroying what little ambiance and air of sophistication that the establishment seemed to be trying to imply. Food was lovely, although nothing particularly exciting and they managed to get the order wrong. I'd hate to think how bad it could be if they were busy! Overall I'd probably eat here again if nothing else were available and I happened to be in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Good food overall and good service at reasonable prices. Can be a bit too quiet. Won't return as chicken was not cooked completely and a bit pink inside.

I've been to Saagar for lunch a few times and they've now changed their lunch menu to include 3 courses for €9.95, with the quality of the food I thought it was a bargain for 2 courses at that price previously. Definitely the nicest Indian food I've eaten in Dublin. Worth a lunchtime visit for anyone!

First Time Visit. This was the first time that I was here, myself and a few friends went here after work on a Tuesday evening. It was starting to fill up and the atmosphere was great, the wait staff were friendly and not over attentive. The food was absolutely spot on. I had the Onion Bhaji and the Chicken Biriyani, both really really nice. My friends thought the food was great as well. As Indian Cuisine goes this is one of the best I have tasted in Dublin. The price was good as well as it was over expensive, the portions were quite big considering the price, so it is an all rounder good place. Definitely worth checking out.

Went here for lunch. The atmosphere was very good, the service was great. I really liked the food, the flavours were just right and even after I had finished my dish and was stuffed I just had to try the other two dishes on the table. Looking forward to going again soon.

In all my years I have never tasted any Indian food quite like the food here. It was cooked to perfection and there was plenty of it. The atmosphere is very relaxed and decor is nice and nice ambient music in the background. Prices are very reasonable and the services is very friendly. Can't fault it for anything.

Went here for the early bird recently. It’s a nice peaceful spot, very relaxing. The decor is nice enough; the place has a good feel to it. The food was very good, nicely balanced curry and very nicely spiced. The service was good and the early bird was good value. Great place to go if you want a quiet peaceful dinner. Would recommend!

The food is delicious and the staff are so friendly and attentive. It's my favourite Indian restaurant in Dublin. It's just a pity that it can be so quiet at times.

Great restaurant. Nice and quiet, lovely food and staff very friendly. Great service considering we came with a huge crowd. Would go again but my boyfriend hates Indian and my friends are all poor students so would have to be an occasion!

This has to be my favourite Indian restaurant in Dublin. I've eaten here many many times, and I've never had a meal that was anything less than fantastic. The prices are very reasonable, making it the perfect place for a great meal out. You should try the kulfi, if you have room for desert. It's great!

It's been a while since I ate here but here it goes...I used to eat lunch here every time I got paid and thoroughly enjoyed this alternative to the local carvery troughs. So I decided to bring a couple of German friends along when they visited a few years ago. Compared to the bustling business lunch trade, the restaurant is a little bit isolated if you want atmosphere at night. I also got the impression that nothing new or exciting was being added to the menu and that it was living off past Bridgestone plaques, which they are more than happy to display outside. Service was the usual Indian adroitness. Verdict: Great for a business lunch; quiet at night.
