Saagar Indian Restaurant 3.5 star review: Had to review this place as i am a regular there albeit with vouchers, well let me tell you if its authentic tasty Indian food you're after this place is the best around!! I have only given a couple of reviews which were mostly negative ones borne out of annoyance and forgot to give a deserved review so here I am,I had Chicken Vindaloo which i have been told by an Indian Chef is NOT only all about heat but other background flavours too and it was 10 out of 10, service ain't great decor is a bit dodgy but I go for FOOD and believe me it's the best I've been in in Dublin!!!

Saagar Indian Restaurant 1.0 star review: We had a voucher and ordered our meal. Waited over 45 mins and were only served one glass of water each and the drink we ordered. The water jug was not even left on the table. We did not even get the usual poppadom appetiser that is served in ALL Indian restaurants. Felt sorry for the waiters hanging around helplessly watching us fall asleep. Even the food was not impressive. It was as if frozen veg had been thrown into a sauce. Very disappointing. Will never dine there again, voucher or not.

Saagar Indian Restaurant 4.0 star review: When we arrived it was quiet but had filled by the time we were leaving. We were seated quickly and given menus. As we were using a voucher we verified from which menu we could order but it took 15 minutes before our order was taken. However after that everything was served in a timely manner with water being topped up regularly. Poppadums & dips were brought along with the wine, we shared tasty starters of vegetable samosas & chicken tikka.
When ordering the main courses we ensured the waiter knew we liked spicy food. The main course dishes of Chicken Madras and Lamb Jalfrezi were cooked to the agreed spice level and very flavoursome.
Fresh coffee finished off the meal nicely.
Manager was circulating, chatting with diners and checked on us during the meal
Generous portion sizes and I was able to get my leftovers in a box to bring home.
Menupages voucher was very good value.

Saagar Indian Restaurant 4.0 star review: My partner and I made use of the menupages voucher last Tuesday evening. We arrived promptly for our 8:00pm booking and, once verified, brought to a table in the corner. We liked the look of the room and, as it was quite busy, there was a pleasant atmosphere. We were presented with menus after a few minutes, but did not receive the normally expected poppadoms and dips. Perhaps this was to do with the voucher? Seeing the set meal option for €49.95 caused a little confusion, so we felt the need to clarify the scope of the voucher. That done, we could decide on our choices. Eventually, our order was taken, but no mention made of the wine. We requested water at this stage. after a wait, our choice of red or white was requested. Our starters finally made it to our table and were quite enjoyable, but appeared rather small. However when the mains arrived, we appreciated that the starters were big enough. We had both chosen dishes we had not had before and really liked them. The pilau rice and the peshawri naan were quite palatable. Overall, the food was very tasty and enjoyable. The service, although a little slow, was very courteous.
Starters: Aloo Tikki Chaat & Aloo Mushroom Pakora .
Mains: Chicken Jaipuri & Murgh Makhani. Would not have a problem recommending Saagar for leisurely meal. Lovely variety on menu.

Saagar Indian Restaurant 3.0 star review: Used our menupages voucher on Sat evening and the place was deserted. The music in the background seemed to be on repeat and it was the same song playing over and over again! Hubby ordered the tandori selection for starters which were ok - a bit dry. My chicken tikka starter was quite rubbery. For mains we ordered prawns (2 supplement on the voucher). Hubbys dish was supposed to be hot but it wasn't, my medium dish was hotter. Rice and naan were good. When we enquired about desert, they said that they didn't have any - i was looking forward to a traditional Indian icecream! I wouldn't rush back, even with a voucher!

Saagar Indian Restaurant 3.0 star review: We have just registered with Menupages but have used it many times before.
We have just dined at Sagaar this evening having bought a voucher for 2 starters,2 Mains,2 Desserts and a bottle of house wine for 49.95.
The location was convenient to the Luas line and we entered the restaurant in the basement with a little
trepidation after having read some of the reviews of Saagar ranging from wonderful to dreadful.
The dining room is high roofed and pleasant but could do with a coat of paint to brighten it up.
I had vegetable samosa to start and my wife had Tandoori butterfly prawns
both of which were good particularly the prawns (2 euro supplement) .
We both had lamb dishes I had lamb tikka kahari and my wife lamb tikka masala.
Again both were good with a nice depth of flavour and we shared a basmati rice and naan bread which were tasty.
However no desserts were offered only tea or coffee which was disappointing. The house wine was a french pays d'oc merlot which was good and resonably priced.
The experience was spoiled upon asking for the bill which should have been E4.50 for the supplement and the naan bread.
A handwritten bill for E80.35 less the voucher value arrived requesting an extra 30 euro.
We queried this explaining the voucher and it was rectified immediately.
Either the owners do not understand voucher deals or are trying it on to get extra payment?.
Don't sign up to do deals if you are unhappy with them.
Good food but cannot recommend until last issue is rectified.

Saagar Indian Restaurant 4.0 star review: I used a menupages deal voucher recently and was impressed. The food was very tasty and we had access to most of the a la carte menu with the exception of king prawn dishes which carried a supplement. The service was very friendly and courteous throughout. Even though we were 20 mins late for our booking we were greeted with smiles. The only downside was the lack of atmosphere. On a friday night we were one of three tables! Such a shame as people are really missing out on good food here. Hopefully things will pick up for them so everyone can enjoy a better atmosphere too. Do give it a go.

Saagar Indian Restaurant 5.0 star review: We ate here after buying a voucher. The food was beautiful and my boyfriend ordered king prawns which were the same price I had paid for the whole voucher but this was not a problem and he was served a huge portion which he is still craving to try again. The staff were nice and the restaurant itself is unusual.
