Eat here from time to time when in meeting friends and want a quick bite. The portions are good and the food wholesome, though generally the menu doesn't match what's actually available. Being a very busy city centre pub the conditions can often be cramped, particularly during big sports matches.

Went here for lunch two weeks ago following a first visit in October when we all got great roast dinners and really enjoyed the food. Unfortunately this time it wasn't as nice at all, fatty lamb,o.k. ham and turkey and beef that was too hard to chew in places. There was also quite a lot less veg and potatoes than we got previously.Same price though! Last time we were asked if everything was ok and it was... but this time nobody did.The staff are pleasant and the place has good atmosphere and good beers but we won't be eating there again.

The best spot in town for value for money. They load your plate with food, and I'm sure they'd have no problem if one went back for seconds! Staff are really friendly. Atmosphere in the bar is great, and after a delicious meal it's a perfect spot to stay on for a few pints.

Had lunch here a couple of times recently. Absolutely huge portions of Irish slop!! Very tasty most of the time and very filling. Can be not so great the odd time. Could do with a price reduction though at this stage to get back in line with the rest of the Dublin market!

We had lunch there on a Saturday afternoon. Brilliant selection of carvery meals, really big portions and a great atmosphere. I had turkey and my husband had the stew. We really enjoyed eating there. Prices are a bit too high for a carvery lunch but it's in the city centre so that's ok. I will come back again.

What a disappointment I'm afraid!! this place used to be great! Went in for food and it wasn't the greatest, the beef was very dry, potatoes a bit hard and the veg was way over cooked! Such a pity really, used go there a lot in Oct and Nov as I worked near there for dinner and it was great! Get back to that :(:(

i had been here many times for drinks but never had the food til a few weeks ago. food was good, huge portions! 2 people could share a dinner if you-re not that hungry. staff are very friendly. and i do love the alcoves in the pub, can feel quite private no matter how big the groups is. i will definitely be having food here again as i study right across the road. great value for the amount of food you get!

Went here for drinks after work and decided to have dinner there too after seeing plates coming back for other people. It's a carvery style set up but you can also order from a menu for a plate of food such as fish and chips etc. I had the fish which was lovely and the chips were exactly the kind of chips you'd want with a nice big piece of battered fish. Very tasty. Boyfriend had the beef and guiness stew which was actually really really nice (I stole some!) with rice. They load up the plate which makes for a hearty dinner. Great pub grub. Only downside is that the pub is laid out in sort of pockets here and there and doesnt lend itself to a great atmosphere.

Went there a week ago, had a carvery. I was a bit disappointed. I used to love their menu before: the delicious steak, tasty chicken wings...what happened. The carvery is huge....looking at all the steak, pies., lamb, fish, different types of potatoes......how could all that amount of cooked food be kept fresh? And it wasn't thaaat tasty anymore. :(

Went there last night for a drink and decided to have soemthing to eat as the food looked good. They do nice carvery with a selection of beef, lamd, ham chicken. The portions are huge, however everyrything needs a bit of seasoning. Overall Ok and I will be back definitely

Went here for a quick bite in the evening. My friend went for the roast from the carvery which was very good, and quick. I had sausage and chips which I figured would be a nice snack, but turned out to be practically a platter - portions tend to be huge here. The general place can tend to be a bit chaotic though we got lucky getting in before a match started so were able to get a table, which was even clean. The could be doing something about the number of flies in the place though.

Had a meal here after work last friday evening, If you want a big feed you can't go wrong, a hugh choice of meals and if you like carvery, o'neills is the place to go, they serve till 10pm which is great for a hearty great value meal. really good home cooked style food, without the hassel of preparing it yourself. excellent.

Fantastic carvary lunch, i cant fault the food in any way. The pub is great and always good craic, i like that pub is 'old style' but i think it could do with a little bit of an update. The bathroom in praticular is not a nice place. Very good value for money and hugh portions. Staff a friendly and helpful

I want there a couple of months ago as some of my friends had recommended it to me. And I wasnt disappointed. The carvery was fantastic. And the portions were very generous. Will definitively be back if I fancy carvery food again.

Had the carvery Sunday lunch. There was a queue for the self service line but it moved quickly so no problem there. Cutlery was dirty had to pick up 3 before I could get a fork without food stuck to it, YUK! Went to find somewhere to sit but every empty table was laden with used plates and glasses and there seemed to be just one guy clearing, eventually had to sit at a dirty table and move the plates to one side. I had the Roast Lamb which was fine if forgettable, the portions are huge, bordering on vulgar. Nipped to the ladies and I can honestly say I have never been in such a disgusting loo in my life, there was a dim blue light only but even with that the dirt of the place was hard to miss, it really stank and there was toilet roll stuck to the walls. I will always give a restaurant more than one try but in this case there is just no way I would go back, not even for a drink, one word sums this place up, FILTHY!

Had lunch in here recently. It was absolutely awful. Had Mushroom and bacon soup, which had a grease slick on the top of it and big disgusting white lumps in it. It was also served in a chipped soup bowl by a rather rude server. I also had a standard baguette, which was hardly cooked, white and doughy. Horrible, wont be going back.

I don't undertand some of the negative reviews about this pub. It has a lot of character and history, it's cheap and portions are big. If you want gourmet cooking you may want to try elsewhere but if you just want some basic Dublin grub then come here!!

Used to enjoy carvery in O Neills every so often. Ate here last Tuesday and it was appalling. Food was cold staff were not friendly and the pub is gone very dirty. Its not the first time this has happened here and will not be back.

I used to eat here a fair bit after work and really enjoyed it. The last couple of times I was there I found the staff serving the food to have no customer service at all and it always seemed to be packed with tourists and roasting upstairs. Foods good though. And the Guinness is always nice!!

I have eaten here on numerous occasions. For the most part, their carvery is always great. The portions are massive. Sometimes though the food could be warmer. Great selections on the carvery menu also.

I visited here recently as we fancied a bite to eat. We were handed the lovely carvery menu at the counter. I opted for the lamb and couldn't believe what the chef was attempting to put on my plate. Rather than telling us that he had come to the end of the lamb, he tried to put scraps of grizzle onto my plate. I refused to take that and rightly so. You wouldn't have handed a dog it. The chef certainly needs to learn to communicate and learn some manners. I asked could I see the corned beef instead, he showed it to me, it was just ok. The chef didn't speak at all so needless to say we left from sheer annoyance and ate nearby instead.

Great pub and great carvery. We went on a Friday evening which meant it was very busy and hard to find a table. We had beef and lamb. Only thing was that it could have been warmer. Will go back again. 24 euro for 2 large plates of food, you cant go wrong.

Very mixed experiences at O Neill's. Its a favourite pub to have a few pints at but the meals seem to depend on the chef of the day. Servings are more than enough, if even a little excessive. Sharing is a great idea for the budget minded and prices are reasonable. Can be very hard to find a table but there are lots of nooks and crannies to sit in so make sure you look around. Food is served until 10pm so its a good place to have a late dinner.

We arrived early on a Friday evening, and we were very lucky to get a table to fit all of us. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and there was definitely more than enough of everything. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a good priced carvery meal.

Nice relaxed atmosphere with a fairly comprehensive carvery and separate salad/soup bar make this great for a casual meal. Not fine dining but very good value.

Does exactly what it says on the tin: all day carvery. O'Neill's is a great place for pub grub. They have one of the largest carvery menus in Dublin and the portions are exceptionally generous. We ate here on Sunday & it was very nice; not gourmet but then again what we expected was a carvery & that was what we got. I agree with the previous comment; it can be quite busy & noisy but great to know you can order a carvery dinner up to 9pm for approx €11/€12.

If you want a good feed come on over to O'Neills. When I was in college we spent many an afternoon lounging in this place recovering from the vast quantities of food we'd eaten. If you like nothing more than a good old carvery lunch / dinner look no further. Excellent value and the selection of food is great. It is very busy though so expect a queue.
