Went to Olesya Wine bar last night with the girls, we just wanted something light to eat to start a night of festive drinking! We had a large couch area downstairs, cosy and private. We then ordered a few bottles, sparkling wine, pinot grigio and the masi, all of which we got seconds of, and all delish, but nothing on the food that was about to land. We ordered two platters to share which came with breads and crackers. The Deluxe Platter & the Seafood Platter, Including a bit of everything above. Farmhouse cheese, Cured Meats, Sausages, Hams, Pate, Cheese and Chicken Roulettes, Olives, Pesto Dip. Salmon Gravadlax, Warn King Prawns, Balik Tsar Nicolaj, Herring St. Petersburg & Red Caviar Blinis. The bill wasn’t outrageous, for 8 of us it came to less than 40euro each. Will definitely be returning!

We went for the late meal after the play at Abbey. I just love this place! Food was superb! Really friendly service. Pity I could not taste the wine. I hope the next time and very soon.

I've passed this place a few times and it from outside it looks nice. Today a friend and I went for lunch after she saw the 'soup & sandwich for 9euro" sign. The sandwich choices were meatball, rosemary chicken or goatcheese & veggie. The soups were vegetable and mushroom. Instead of soup you can choose potatoes for 1euro extra. I wanted a perrier (which btw came to 3euro for a small bottle, a bit much methinks) and my friend wanted a sprite to which the waiter replied " we don't have soda." "oh you dont?" i said. " no...this is a wine bar." excuse me, gaston. she had a 3euro orange juice instead. when lunch came it looked nice even though my wooden serving board was cracked in half. it's the same as serving a drink in a chipped glass, to me. my friend had the chicken sandwich and i had the goatcheese. i gotta say wet lettuce and soft cheese don't go well together as it was one white, drippy, mess. it tasted nice but i hated having to choose between eating it quickly before it fell apart or resorting to fork & knife. the potatoes were 'bland' my friend said and i would have to agree, serve those puppies with some lemon perhaps. aside from the special, the menu is limited. perhaps it's an afernoon thing ( we went at 3pm) but nothing really jumped out at either of us. nice decor, nice enough service and nice food but i dont think i need to visit again

My sister took me here for my birthday lunch - I had never spotted the place before. She had reserved a window table which was held for us. This place is my idea of heaven - it was the start of a packed day but I could have spent my whole birthday here and been happy! How lovely to have such a choice of wine by the glass - we opted for a Lebanese wine which was good once you gave it a chance! We got a choice of tapas to share - olives, pate, bread and dips and they had wonderful flavours. (The only down side was I couldn't stop eating!) We got 2 small portions of mains - chorizo risotto and fish with beetroot and potato salad. Again the food was so tasty there were clean plates all around. I'm looking forward to going back and just relaxing the afternoon away with good food and good wine (good company optional!)

So good! Our first time here but we've past it a million times going nearby for groceries. I had the half roast chicken was delicious (not nearly as adventurous as some of the other menu items like red caviar), but lovely just the same. My husband had the rib eye steak and just about died! We will definitely be returning.

Great place for a wine geek. I don't know how they do it but they have like 100 wines by the glass?! including classics like Bordeaux, Burgundy, Chile etc but also ?! Lebanese Wine and Russian Champagne if u fancy trying out some exotic stuff. We got incredibly big platter of meat and cheese, staff was friendly, cool interior.

One of my favourite places in Dublin for catching up with friends! I had been here before and found both the service and atmosphere very good on the previous occasion so dropped in last Saturday with a friend for a glass of wine and some light food. Even though the place was very busy and every table was reserved, the staff were really friendly and helpful and found a nice table for us upstairs by the window. We were really well looked after by our waitress who was friendly, attentive and very well-informed despite the massive wine-list (over 400 different types makes choosing a little difficult!) We had gone in around 6pm and stayed long enough to see the place get really busy, so much so in fact that they were turning people away at the door roughly every 10 minutes, but the staff were very professional throughout, though pushed. Myself and my friend shared a mixed cheese platter, dips and olives, complimented with a gorgeous bottle of Reisling (suggested by our waitress) all of which were very tasty and not bad value considering the prices in other places. The food is fine, but for me the atmosphere and service, and of course the wine, were the real plus. I would definitely recommend this place for a relaxed evening with friends, or a quiet drink during the week, as it's only weakness as far as I could see was that it's so packed at weekends that the wait time for full meals seemed a bit slow. Though I wouldn't have a full sit-down meal there myself, have to say that it is one of the nicest wine-bars in town and a must for wine-lovers!

Usually like this spot so suggested it for dinner with a friend. Very disappointed. The service was incredibly slow, We had the salmon to start, which was fine, nothing special, I have the fish of the day (plaice) which was bland, the veg was over cooked and in general it was just tasteless. We were offered desserts on the house but really for nearly €80 per person for 2 glasses of wine, one starter and 2 mains it was more then a little over priced. And to top it off we had to wait nearly fifteen minutes for the bill. Not sure I'll be recommending this again.

What we liked: - Very wide choice of wines - Nice location - Nice interior design - Tasty food with very nice plate presentation - Friendly staff What we didn't like: - We went twice to this place, the waiter was nice but during both of our visits he was unfortunately smelling really bad. (alcohol and cigarette probably) - Slightly overpriced

We had lunch here and it was lovely, it is a great settings very rustic. Unfortunately there was very few people as it was lunch time on a snowy Monday. Great choice of wine with helpful staff and a lovely menu for both bites and full meals We went with a cheese board and very good dips and breads Would recommend and will return

I booked a table for the third of december, a friday night, for four people. As we got there we had our table waiting for us. We ordered some bottles of wine during the night (which was suposed to be difficult due to the 400 wines in the house, but they waiter was helpfull and recommended a good one). With the wine we hade some platters (mix of cheese and cured meats) which was yumi. Even though the place was packed, the service was quite fast, cozy and rustic atmosphere and as for the price was the avarage. I gave five stars for that lovely night.

Food - above average. Service - disgraceful. Firstly, thank you to all menupages users for your helpful reviews and my apologies that it took a terrible experience for me to join and actually write something... but after my bad experience at Olesya I felt that I had to. The positive - nice atmosphere & good, generous sized, tasty portions of food. The negative - the service. The service ruined an otherwise lovely meal. The staff were reluctant to serve wine as part of the Special Early Bird Offers and unless you ordered your wine at the time of ordering your food the offer was withdrawn from the table. False advertising perhaps? My advice - just be certain that you explain exactly what you want as part of the 'specials' when you order. In addition all meals (we were a party of 7) arrived at the table at different times, this can happen but is an apology too much to ask for? Go for the food not for the service.

We booked a table for 4 persons in Olesya's Wine Bar, and despite we arrived quite late, we were surprised that even though we didn't bother calling, and it looked fairly busy, they kept the table for us!! The service was quite warm, extremely friendly and our waiter had perfect knowledge regarding all selections of wines and reccomended to us a nice Italian red who fitted perfectly with the food we ordered. The amosphere in this place is very warm and the value for the service provided is equally mantained at high level. Overall a very good experience that I would reccomend to everybody I know. Marco

In brief I couldn't recommend NOT visiting this place more! If you want to find out the details feel free to read on: It's been a while since I have left a comment, but I just had to after the service that I experienced last night. A group of 7 of us booked, and we arrived to a table laid for 6- not a big issue -we were very happy to squeeze in, but I would have expected an acknowledge of the mistake and at least for them to set the place for the 7th person without us having to ask. The waiter we had very disinterested in general, and wasn't at all friendly. We all ordered from the 3 or 2 bites menu which seemed good value but there was no offer of the wine that was meant to accompany it. When we asked for it we were told that we hadn't ordered it in time-the wine that is! One of meals arrived after the rest of the group had finished eating, and when it was brought to the waiters attention his attitude wasn't in the slighest bit bothered, let alone apologetic. We also had a query over the bill and again disgraceful service. Summary: THE GOOD:decent value and lovely decor THE BAD: the Worst (by a country mile) service I have had in Dublin

Myself and a friend stopped off for a bite to eat here yest and we sat outside given the lovely weather, over 5 mins passed and no sign of a waiter so i asked for some menus enroute to the bathroom.we were then left another 10 mins before they took our order,we shared dips and bread, and the medium french cheese plate.I also ordered a glass of australian riesling from the very extensive wine list (over 300 choices available i think?) and my friend a latte. We were then left at least 15 mins before the waiter reappeared with our food and drinks. the bread and dips were yummy and plentiful and the cheese plate had 4 different cheeses, apple slices, walnuts and sultanas. Wine was excellent too but the latte was not the best! Finally about 30 mins later my friend went in to ask for the bill as there was no sign of any of the waiters coming near us,just after we got the bill another friend unexpectedly joined us so we decided to stay for another drink which of course took another 10 mins before finally a waiter came over despite my friend best efforts to grab his attention, overall the food and drinks were excellent (aside from the latte) but they really do need to sort out the service, it was dreadful, considering when we arrived there was only 4 other customers in the place!service charge is not included and considering the standard of service we received we didnt leave a tip.

I came here last Saturday night with the other half, seeking bread, wine and a cosy atmosphere. All 3 were delivered. We ordered a bottle of wine with the delux platter and the bread&dips. My boyfriend was bowled over by the large platter of cheeses, salami, parma ham, olives and fruit that emerged. I was more impressed by the delicious hummus and fresh bread, still warm from the oven. Service was quick, although it take a few minutes to catch the attention of a server to request more bread. I managed to leave my scarf behind me when we left, but I was stopped down the road by our waiter, who had run to deliver it back. That's service :) In all great way to start the night.

Have enjoyed the extensive wine list a number of times and enjoy the flexibility and friendliness of the the staff. We didn't have ti,e for proper dinner before a show on Saturday so ordered a Farmhouse platter which was superb. Easily enough for two it was lovely to enjoy some top notch ham, cheese and sausage with some great wine. Working in the wine business it is perturbing to see the astronomical prices charged for some of the wines but at the same time sitting over a couple of nice bottles would still cost you less than knocking back pints at a bar all night. Will definitely be back, great wine, food, atmosphere and service

Went here with my fellow Supper Clubbers and was heartily dissappointed from the start. They mistakenly gave someone else our table even though we had booked weeks in advance - so they put us downstairs which had no atmosphere at all. In fact I felt a little like I was in a doctors waiting room. Comfy couches I'll admit but not ideal for eating from. The food itself was tasty enough but way overpriced. I had the pate which was delicious but there was too much on the plate - I'd rather half the amount for half the price. The service wasn't great either - perhaps because we were off the beaten track we were forgotten about. I won't be returning.
Response:
We are sorry that your experience was not as expected on such a busy evening, we do sometime get it wrong. But we are glad that you enjoyed the food; we do a French Pate Platter for only €10.90 including bread which we feel is a very reasonable price.

I had lunch here last Thursday; I must say that the food is excellent, I took one glass of Meursault with my lunch of Navarin of Lamb, it was very relaxing, the staff are friendly, the service prompt and simple. The Lamb dish was very tasty and the meat was melt in the mouth. Its got a great little buzz this place and I'll be visiting it more often now.

I had wine and cheese here with friends the other night and was quite enjoying it until the sun set and the evening got cooler. It was an unusually cold night, I had even worn a long coat coming into the city but Olesya's had their windows and door open. Their windows fold right back so the whole restaurant opens up onto the street. Both my older guests wore their coats for the duration. The waiter eventually closed the windows and when I asked him to close the door too, which was blowing a freezing breeze through and under our table, he refused! He wasn't even going to give me an explanation until I asked why and he said he had to leave it open to encourage customers to come in! I've really never heard such rubbish in all my life. Imagine telling your guests they must freeze because you want more customers! I asked what happens if the guests you have, leave because it's too cold and he offered to turn on the heater and then apologised saying it was the owner's instructions. Seriously, putting a heater on and leaving a freezing breeze blowing through your restaurant is not what I call good service. We just left! If the owner wants to retain their custom they need to rethink their customer service. There seems to be this myth pervading the hospitality industry that people feel compelled to enter buildings they wouldn't ordinarily have entered, just because the door was open. Maybe they should think whether they've done so. I think they'll find the haven't! I won't be back.

This is a lovely spot for a glass of wine & some nibbles. I'd go here quite a bit, as it’s a favourite spot to meet up amongst my friends. The wine list is excellent, with a huge selection, and the staff are lovely, knowledgeable, and friendly. Four of us had a lovely evening in there recently, drinking a lovely dry spanish white, sharing olives, Tapenade, a selection of irish cheeses, some antipasti, and the crusty bread with the olive oil dip is pretty amazing! There is also a lovely buzz about the place at Christmas time!

Wine list is very very good & we had a large cheese & meat platter which could not be faulted. It was large enough for 3 people and was good value too. However, the staff really left something to be desired. The waitress misunderstood us numerous times when we asked for a few simple things such as olive oil and she also mixed up our bill when we wanted to pay. It was also impossible to get a smile out of her. The waiters were much the same and we felt that we were putting them out when we asked for something. My wine glass was whisked away from me the moment I finished the last drop! A very off-putting experience in general. Being right in the heart of tourist Dublin, I wonder what experience visitors to our City are having when they come here? The potential to be much better, if simply the staff were friendly.

Popped in here after dinner for a glass of wine with a friend, lovely wine list. I had a gorgeouos Portugese red wine and my friend had a Valpolicella. Fast and friendly service even though the guy waiter on his own. A lovely little place to go for some quiet time and a chat.

We had heard about this Franco Russian wine bar and decided to pop in for a glass of vino before deciding whether or not to eat there. Once there we were completely sucked into the atmosphere with a saxophone player gently playing jazz in the corner. We order a glass of the house red and white and relaxed. We saw others food arriving and decided to take a look at the menu, which was extensive and not too expensive. I ordered the farmhouse platter and my partner ordered the smoked chicken risotto. The bread, cheeses and meats were excellent and my partners risotto was exquisite, I'd never had smoked chicken before so I just had to try hers! I have since tried to emulate this recipe at home myself, but unfortunately unsuccessfully! I'll just have to go back! The staff were friendly and authentic, but the jazz saxophonist stole the show. We worth a visit!

Stopped into Olesya's on a Friday evening after work for some wine and a small bite to eat. The restaurant is enticing from the outside, especially on a sunny evening, with large windows that open out onto the street. We shared a bottle of the house red which was delicious, and all went for the risotto of the day which was chicken and asparagus. The risotto was very tasty, but had quite a heavy sauce. The service was only alright, it took a while to order the coffees afterward the meal. Overall it was a nice place but not a very extensive menu which is what I would prefer. Would return but not necessarily in a hurry.

Came here for the Wine tasting - this establishment has a potential to be great, but it is on the pricey side for value. We tasted 6 different (all mid-range) wine, 3 whites and 3 reds. There were some cheese and meat platters included with the tasting, including some breads and dips. All in all, I think the €40 price tag per person leaves a lot to be desired for.

Had a quite monday night meal here with a few friends. The atmosphere was lovely even though the place had only a few occupied tables. Service was great and the watress really friendly. We ordered a platter to share for starters which was meats and cheeses. A small main each came after and adding on wine the bill was 150. There were only three of us and to be honest the food was nice but nothing special...I left feeling i'd spent way too much for what I'd had My main was quite nice..being a chicken salad. It was quite small but enough for me as I had filled up on meats and cheeses. I would visit here again but probably just to share a bottle of wine and skip the food. The one great thing this place has is a very laid back attitude to people taking their time over the meal.

Ate here on Friday after see such good reviews. To be honest everything was lovely except for one waiter, he barely paid any attention to us and was far from friendly. The waitress on the other hand was very nice and friendly. The food was lovely, I had the pate and the duck and they were both superb. Once we were finished we were very rushed and my glass was take even though I had wine in it. I hope it was a once off for bad service as I would like to eat here again for the food.

A second visit on Saturday was equally pleasant, the food was excellent, we had pate to start and this could have done for a light lunch between 2 which a few did actually do when we were there. We followed with prawns with chorizo salad and risotto and the prawns were really tasty. One thing the wine bar needs to do is to extend the special offer for lunch on saturday as well as we noticed a number of people stopping and reading the board then leaving when they realised that it wasnt on. There is a recssion on and people are looking for bargains and can get them in other eateries around

The location is great for just watchin the world pass by. In the summer months the windows fully open to give the feeling of a Parisian bistro. The selection of wines is perfect for connoisseurs and novices alike. I really wanted to try everything as the Russian offerings looked so exotic and exciting. I plumped for the mixed Russian delicacy platter which was expensive but had a little bit of everything on offer. Don't get me wrong it was nice but a little overwhelming as the portions of each are quite large and some of the flavours, I found, a little sickly in such quantities. The dish didn't seem to have any real theme just a big lump od assorted ingredients with no other connection than the country of origin. A bit like having smoked samon and beef carpacio at the same time with a side of fish eggs. I like this spot so don't want to be mean I think I need to try it agin to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I ate here with a friend. We ordered the delux plater to share which was large and plenty for 2 people. The wine list is daunting as is has so many choices. There are many fabulous wines to suit all pockets. The service was much better than I experienced on previous visits but the waiter was not much help with recommending wines though he was very busy and on his own. Overall this is a lovely restaurant and a great place to catch up with a friend and have a good chat.

I love this place - I have been here a couple of times now and it never disappoints. We went here for a bite to eat and a bottle of wine after work and already the place was packed. Their wiine selection is amazing and the food divine. We went for the big platter which has various meats, cheeses, pate, pesto, olives and comes with a selection of bread and crackers! Just what the doctor ordered for a wet Friday evening to unwind!

Had the lunch special there today, pasta with italian sausage and was very dissapointed. It was far too salty maybe the result of too much shaved parmesan and the dish was simple without being elegant, I could have done better myself at home for much cheaper. 11.95 for boring over salted penne pasta and 3.85 for smooth orange juice from a carton described as freshly squeezed won't have me going back any time soon.

We really enjoyed ourselves at Olesya's; ordered a beautiful bottle of wine and it was lovely...the bread and 3 dips were delicious. The only turn off was seeing the waiter take 2 glasses of wine that were returned by table beside us, and pour them back into the bottle......

Best place for a glass of red wine, so much wine selection and food is not bad at all. I always order the Foie-Gras, yummy. Best place to catch up and hang around with your friends.

For a late bite to eat in town, it's hard to beat Olesya's. I had the herring salad last night, and it was every bit as good as similar dishes I've had in Eastern Europe. Our waiter recommended a glass of excellent French wine at a lower price than the one I originally asked for (they were out of my 1st choice). My other half had the pasta special which was involved a really moorish cheese sauce & crispy fresh bread. Service was excellent as usual, friendly and efficient. We'll be back.

Sitting in the window of this bar having a sneaky glass of fine wine and a cheese and meats board to kill for. The ultimate way to relax while allowing a few Saturday afternoon hours slip by. Perfect!

Some very reasonable wines by the bottle, alot of good meaty reds and fruity whites under the €30 mark. My and my partner like coming in for the deluxe platter, it is presented beautifully with fresh exotic fruit, a large range of cheeses, baskets of bread and an okay amount of salami. Altho their meats can be a bit greasy sometimes. The chicken liver pate, made on site, is to die for. I find it too bright inside at night time, they could do with dimming the lights for a better atmosphere. There is only one white bordeaux at around €26 and it's a great wee find if you're on a budget. Dont order the seared fois gras with pineapple. It just doesn't work, it is too messy and there is always a bitter flavour from the caramel on the dish. It resembles a sweet dish with the caramelised stewed fuit that ruins the delicate fois gras. I always find rubard or strawberries are the best fruit to accompany fois gras. They're cold fois gras parfaits are all very good.

Went here with 2 friends on Sunday evening, its a really nice place, nice wine list, although they could probably do with having more on the lower price end. The sharing starter of charcuterie and cheeses was lovely, along with bread and dips. There was a hiccup with the mains but the waiter completely made up for it and we were very happy patrons. The waitress was very knowledgeable on wines also which was helpful but also entertaining. I'll definetely return to Olesya.

We treat ourselves every now and again with a visit to Olesya's and its completely fool proof. We usually enjoy a few glasses of wine that we never get to try otherwise and we are very impressed by 'our' waiter who remembers from one visit to the next what we tend to like. It is a place that im very happy to recommend to anyone who enjoys their wine and food.

Out of Stock! I saw this Wine Bar on the City Channel on the telly and after reading the reviews decided to take my girlfriend out as we both enjoy a good quality glass of wine. We were seated in the main area, next to the wall and noticed that the tables are close together. To get in, we had to push the table to the side, be seated and then pull the table back across. We were given the Wine menu and I selected a red wine from New Zealand only to be told it was out of stock! The waiter suggested an alternative after I told him the type of red wine I liked. I was not over impressed by his choice. My girlfriend had her white wine, but commented it was nothing special. We had the chicken breast and lamb shank as main course. For the price of them they were not that impressive. Overall, we came to sample glasses of wines we would not normally choose and put our faith in the 'experts' of the wine bar. Unfortunately they fell short. The atmoshere was great if a little noisy at times. There were 4 waiting staff on duty and it looked at times if they found it difficult to cope and ensure their own tables were looked after. Would we go back again? If there was a crowd of us - yes, for a romantic meal for two - no.

Our second visit in two weeks and we came out even more impressed. It's not that the food is that spectacular (if anything a little limited for non-meat eaters), but the atmosphere is ideal for a good chat over a bottle of wine - from the very extensive list. Will stay on my list of places to go - far less pretentious than some of its competitors but delivers the goods

A beautiful array of international wines to satisfy even the most fussy wine connoisseur, the NZ Mudhouse Riesling a rare but popular choice got us in the mood as did our extremely flavour some olive and cheese platter entree. The 3 person table arrangement which consisted of one square table for two by the drafty door and one single round table to the side making our 3rd party feel much the 3rd wheel was a little disappointing, however the taste and presentation, (not to mention generous portion size!) of the main courses more than made up for the lack of space and poor seating arrangements.

A little piece of good wines and food in the George's st. area. Overpriced but tastey, I wouldn't go here on my own accord. Excellent wines, beautiful waiter (and the service was great too) but ultimately the food wasn't really worth the money we paid for it.

This is place is right in the centre of city. If you're planning to go, go on a Wednesday. They have live jazz on every Wed as far as I know, which is by the way pretty good. The seats can be a bit cramped up, the food is not bad. The staff there are pretty friendly too.

Having recently discovered I am a coeliac I searched for coeliac friendly restaurants and found this one which appeared to be just what I was looking for. Imagine my horror when I was unsure of what I could eat from the menu and asked the waiter, and he didn't have a clue what I was talking about! After a couple of glasses of the most delicious wine, I plucked up the courage to ask the chef downstairs. Although she didn't have great English she eventually understood what I was asking and kindly offered to cook me anything I wanted. Since we enjoyed the wine and atmosphere so much we decided to book to take friends, and the manager then spent a good while going through their xmas menu with me to establish what I could eat on our planned return. in the end they were very helpful although I was rather merry after only eating cheese with all my wine!

Ate here a few months ago and really enjoyed lazying there for a few hours ordered two lovely wines with the help of the waiter and a few nibbles. My Partner and I enjoyed the food but we weren't really out for dinner and ended up just ordering two charcuterie boards. we paid 80 euro for that so it is steep. We really never felt rushed at all and it is really relaxed in there, I'd recommend it to pop in for a drink afterwork or something too relax with a friend.

Had breakfast/brunch here about a week ago on a Saturday and I was really disappointed with how bad it was. The only thing that had changed about it since the Red Rose Cafe days was the price. It was really like a greasy spoon rather than a fancy wine bar. They really should try harder with the brunch menu. Having said that, I havent tried it for lunch or dinner so I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt next time cause it does have a nice ambience and the service was fine.

Found this place one Wednesday evening and it had great jazz music floating out of it. We ordered a meat platter, which was a bit pricy but was really lovely. It was enough to fill us both. I ordered a glass of white wine, it was 8 euro, again not cheap, but possibly the nicest glass of wine ever! The music and friendly staff made it a very nice relaxed evening and somewhere I would go back to again.

Visited recently on the advice of a French Cuisine loving friend. The charcuterie plate to start is plenty for 2 persons, and at €24, is quite good for all the food on the board. Wine is plentiful and lots by the glass, so you can pick and choose to suit your course. My Duck main was a let down however, too salty, with well over cooked duck. A nice place to stop off for a quick wine and small course, but a bit too pricy if you stay too long. We will risk this one again in the future.

Lovely place! Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, just the right level of attention from the waiters (i.e. they don't bother you unnecessarily, but it was not hard to catch their eye when you wanted something), friendly, and great food. The Herring St. Petersburg especially good, melted in the mouth. Good selection of wines, too. This is the kind of place you'd love to have in your neighbourhood, so you could pop in for a glass of wine, or a quick bite, or a leisurely dinner, perfect for all of that.

Visited this wine bar last week and have to say I was extremely disappointed. I had read the reviews about the service but wasn't prepared for how bad it actually was. The waiting staff spent their entire evening chatting to each other, ignoring all their customers. Food was just average. Definitely won't be going back.

I can honestly say I will not return until I hear new staff have been hired! The food, wine and interior - very very nice, but the service is beyond description. We had to chase the staff for service, as did other diners, and it wasn't even busy. The two waiters nipped out for cigarettes and to shoot the breeze whenever their friends passed by, much to the bemusement of customers. It was so bad that my friends and I bonded with fellow neglected wine drinkers over the hilarious/annoying situation. If you don't mind being treated poorly, and have plenty of time to kill then go for sheer amusement.

First time I've been there with my friends on my birthday. Ideal place for wine lovers as the selection is enormous, they have wines from all over the world, including Romanian, Bulgarian and Georgian(my favourite!)Simple, but tasteful decor, good location (1 minute walk from Brown Thomas)and good wine and cheese - what more could you ask for!

Went here with some girlfriends one evening. Service is dreadful - extremely slow, having to wave excessively to get the waiters attention. Food was nice but by the time it arrived we were so hungry we ate very fast. Good selection of wines. Bar/restaurant itself is very cramped but adds to the atmosphere. Probably not every one's cup of tea but we enjoyed it enough.

great wine list, and simple good quality food. I've spent a lot of time in France and this felt really authentically French. We left at about 9 and there was some music about to start, only challenge was getting out - the tables are so close together you do feel like you are joining in someone else's conversation

I thought this place was ok. It took quite a while to get served - my friend & I ordered a cheese platter each, and that took even LONGER to be brought to us. How long does it really take to cut some cheese & meat and serve? Anyway, the one thing that really impressed me with this place was that the server really new his wines - I know it's a wine bar, but it still impressed me nonetheless! You see, I'm not a big wine drinker and know nothing about what is/isn't good, so when I put it to our server for a wine that was sweet & light, the wine he suggested was PERFECT and absolutely delicious! If you want to go somewhere for a nice long chat with your companion, and are prepared to have quite a bit of some fine wine until your food arrives, then this place is for you.

Great place in my opinion. Was there on Friday night with my girlfriend. Massive wine list and fantastic food (unlike others I thought the crostinis were fine). Waiters were very friendly. We had the Herring St. Petersburg which was excellent as was the Western European seafood platter. A little bit expensive but not too bad for what was a quality offering.

Very slow service. We arrived at 6:45pm and were seated and attended to straight away. It took 1 hour and 35 minutes for us to get our mains. Luckily we shared a bread basket to keep us going and we were savouring our glasses wine because there was no sign of someone coming to take another order. My main when it arrived was very disappointing at €21. It was tiger prawns on a warm chorizo salad. The prawns weren't tiger and the salad wasn't warm. 4 lukewarm baby potatoes cut in half with a small piece of chorizo on top. The spinach salad was cold to freezing. Very disappointing food and service. Would not rush back, unless it was for just wine and it wasn't as busy.

I just love this place, I had to add a comment. I came across Olesya's quite by accident some months ago, thought I'd found a sneaky gem - turned up last night to see people nearly queueing on the street! Amazing wine book - not list - I agree the crostinis stink but everything else I've had there rocks. Lovely atmosphere & friendly, helpful staff. Equally perfect for romance or evening with friends. People please go away so I can have Olesya's to myself again?!!

I went there a couple of weeks ago. The wine list is very good but overpriced. As far as food is concerned a little disappointing. The crostinis are not good. The toppings tasted like they came straight out of a can. It is overpriced and I won't go back.

I enjoyed my first experience of a wine bar in Dublin. We got a French Bordeaux which was lovely. We had pasta of the day with chicken and foie gras and raspberry cheesecake and chocolate cake. Service was slow but had a great time and will try again.

Have been here 3 times so its pretty good. Had not tried the food til last Sunday and its nice but service is very slow. we just shared the crusty breads with various toppings. quite tasty and goes down very well with a south afrian white! nice atmosphere and good place to catch up with friends before or after dinner!

I went to Olesya's wine bar last Friday with two friends. I love wine and the wine list is extraordinary. I travel a lot on business and I don't think I have ever been anywhere that does over 100 different wines by the glass - they do about 400 by the bottle. I thought the food was super - we had the deluxe platter and the Foie Gras selection. The staff were very nice too. Good buzz too and a nice crowd. My friends agreed it was an excellent night out and we will definitely go back.

I have been here twice. Once I went with a girlfriend for lunch. I got the meatballs with rice. It was lovely but I think there needs to be a bit more of an option for actual meals. We shared a lovely NZ white, which was beautiful. I went back last Friday night with my boyfriend and another couple. We decided to share a couple of the cheese and meat platters. They were gorgeous. It’s a great place to go to for cheese, bread, meat and a few bottles of wine. It was very reasonable doing it that way as well. Will be back.

We went to Olesya's Wine Bar last Saturday for a glass of wine and some "tapas-style" food. The service was quite slow, we were sitting at the bar for twenty minutes and nobody came to take our order (not even of drinks). We were eventually showed to a table and order some food. The wine list is quite long, although the menu of wine available by the glass is much shorter. The food menu is not long, but it includes some delicious treats such as crostini (with a variety of vegetarian pates), cheese board, pates, etc. It's a pity about the slow service, but the food was absolutely delicious and worth the wait!
