I was expecting a lot from here as I have heard a lot of good things about it and a Chinese friend recommended it to me. It was ok at best but perhaps we got them on an off night. I ate the food, it was OK but I didn't find it particularly flavoursome or extremely enjoyable. We both opted for the stuffed crab claws which were a little too chewy and didn't taste of very much. I got the Szechwan Prawns for main which were nice but I expect Szechwan Prawns to be spicy with a bit of a kick and these didn't have that at all. Kind of boring and lacking in flavour. My OH got a chicken dish which he seemed to thoroughly enjoy. Dessert in Chinese restaurants is always a disaster as they offer those pre-packed dishes that are always too frozen so these were a little off putting. We both got ice cream which was ok. The wine selection wasn't great, I love a nice glass of Pinot Grigio but this tasted kind of cheap and I had t send one glass back as it was awful. Service was a little hit and miss and atmosphere kind of lacking. I am really disappointed writing this as I wanted to enjoy it so much more. I will try it again another time as I have heard a lot of great things about it from others.

I bought a Menupages voucher for this restaurant, 39.95Eur entitled us to any 2 starters, any 2 mains, 2 desserts, 2 tea/coffee and either a bottle of beer or glass of house wine each. I made a booking for Sat evening at 7.30pm It was quite busy when we arrived so we had to wait about 5 minutes or so for a table which was fine. I felt a little awkward as the "waiting area" I was sitting at was right beside a couple having their dinner so it felt like I was sitting at their table! I noticed the place is a little worse for wear but nothing a coat of paint wouldn't fix. We were shown to our table and made our order after advising we had a Menupages voucher. We weren't sure what to expect but I have to admit the food was wonderful, they didn't give us a restricted menu to order from and there was nothing off limits which was great. We ate our fill and even got second helpings of rice We ordered a glass of house wine each and this was the only negative thing I can say as it tasted of nothing - I can only presume it was watered down but for the price I can't complain. I would definitely recommend the Good World's food to anyone, it's gorgeous and the service was great too! We will be back.

I've been here on several occasions over the last 5 years or so. I always found the food excellent and the service quite good. The menu is priced reasonably. I usually get the same starter which is the salt and chilli chicken wings and they're amazing everytime. My husband gets different things each time but has had the seabass in black bean sauce on a few occasions as the fish is usually very fresh and they remove the bones. I've come in large and small groups and the staff are usually quick and friendly. Can be quite busy at times and overall i've only ever had one unsatisfactory meal it was around chinese new year and they were exeptionally busy but food was still good. Would definitely recommend.

I've been here a good few times. We chose the Early Bird Menu A, and although the choices are really just standard Chinese Restaurant fare, they were very enjoyable, as has the food been in the past. The service is efficient, but I wouldn't exactly say all that friendly to be honest. We felt our server just wanted us to eat and get out. I'd go back, I just hope we get a different server next time.

Good World has always had a reputation for great food, but on this occasion I felt it didn't come up to the standards we had experienced previously. Opted for Crab Meat Cocktail for starters. It was nicely presented, but very difficult to find the crab meat in it – perhaps it was just smothered with seafood sauce, because that’s all that could be tasted. Had Szechwan Prawns for mains with boiled rice - a very nice dish and a decent portion. Had one of those frozen ice-cream desserts, which was surprisingly nice and finished off our meal with coffee. The bottle of red we chose was rather sharp and didn’t go down too well, however it’s a lottery when choosing wine – you win some, you lose some. Service was good and the restaurant was absolutely jammed by the time we were leaving, so it's obviously a very popular venue.

Used a MenuPages dealof 4 courses plus a glass of beer or wine for €39.99. Haven’t been to the Good World for quite some time, and as it was early evening when we arrived, there weren’t many tables occupied. Had Wafer Wrapped King Prawns for starters and Combination Tofu with Aubergine for mains. The starter was interesting looking – prawns tied up like little bundles – but was a bit bland. Had never tasted Tofu before, and whilst I did enjoy the aubergine, I wouldn’t choose Tofu again. It doesn’t have much taste but seems to absorb flavours from other foods around it, mainly the sauce. Had a very nice coconut ice cream for dessert. Service was good and staff pleasant but our coffees were brought out far too soon, despite us asking for them to hold off for a while (have had this problem in a few restaurants).

I booked this restaurant with the menupages deal and the booking was accepted by the restaurant the same day. 4 course meal for €40 - Absolutely excellent value for money! My wife and I had the duck starter which was lovely. I ordered beef and my wife satay chicken which was also very nice. The service was excellent and friendly. I will definitely be back.

Ate dinner on special offer for 39.99 for 4 courses and two wine or beer from the standard restaurant menu which had plenty of choice. I started with prawn dim sum and enjoyed it with the spicy sauce on the side. My husband had stuffed crabs claws which were also pleasant. For main he had crispy beef and soft noodles and I ate the canton duck with a portion of yeung chow fried rice. We had desert for a change; apple fritters and icecream, and coconut icecream which is bought in - not unpleasant but I would have preferred more traditional desserts on the menu. We drank TsingTao but didnt stay for tea or coffee. While it was pleasant and they certainly know what theyre doing - there are many Chinese patrons - I have tasted more flavourful chinese food. The staff were attentive and noninvasive and in general it was an enjoyable experience. Certainly excellent value menus - and reliable for freshness!

Paid a visit to Good World Chinese on Friday. First impressions when i went in was that the restaurant was basic enough. The Staff were attentive and courteous. The food was amazing i was blown away by it to be honest. I have been to a lot of Chinese restaurants and this is by far the best of been to yet. I can see now why the Chinese people themselves eat in this restaurant. I will certainly be returning to this restaurant.

Went here with a menupages deal. €40 for 4 courses for two. The food was good, particularly my companion's dim sum starter. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Restaurant was reasonably busy for a sunday evening. All in all a very enjoyable experience and great value.

I took my son here for lunch after a trip to the barbers and we were very disappointed. The restaurant was very busy and we were shown to a table downstairs and given menus. We were then forgotten about for about half an hour. Staff came and went, serving other tables and completely ignored my vain attempts to get their attention. When we did eventually give our order our two courses came one immediately after the other and we didn't linger for too long. We are not in a hurry to return and will not be recommending it to any of our friends.

I have been going here for over 15 year usually to have some Dim Sum. This is my favourite Chinese restaurant in the city centre. The food is always fresh and tasty. Service is polite and quick. Good sign when you see Chinese people in the place. Good value. Recommended.

Went there tonight Saturday. Arrived about 10.40 and shown to seat. When I had ordered I was told that no alcohol could be served after 10.00. I questioned this a little later and was told no alcohol after 10.30. This was stated to have something to do with licensing arrangements. Must be honest I have never heard of this anywhere else. If this was the case we should have been told this before being seated. Most people like a glass of wine with their meal. Got the impression that they just wanted to get rid of us quickly. In that case they shouln't have accepted our order. Won't go again.

Went with 2 friends today for lunch. Restaurant was busy so we were brought downstairs to a room where we were alone for most of the meal. This was really the only downside. Starters ...ribs and spring rolls were good. Mains of shrimp x 2 and duck was also good and the fritters and ice cream for desert was reasonable. The set lunch price is good value and the service was efficient.

Not been here for a while, but a friend fancied a chinese, so we decided to head here! To start, I had the spring rolls, which were your usual run of the mill sort - nothing amazing, but nice enough all the same. My mate had the salt and chicken chilli wings. They were grand, nothing that you would not find in any take away. For my main I went for the house special curry, with fried rice. Again, it was OK, nothing special. There was a mixture of duck, pork, chicken & beef, and some prawns - and a lot of onion! The curry sauce itself wasn't great - not at all spicy unfortunately! My mate went for the chicken curry along with fried rice, again, it was nothing special. I do like the dining room here though I have to say, its like going out for something to eat in the 1980s if that makes sense! The service on this visit was ok - the last time I was here they practically stood over us, waiting to whisk the plate away the moment you put down your fork! Nice wine list too, we shared a lovely bottle of Fleurie - which was reasonably priced. Much improved on my last visit, however, nothing amazing!

I have eaten here twice. Most recently last night. Both times have been a disappointment. Atmosphere was dead, not particularly good value for money. Handed a wine list at 10pm to be told when I tried to order some wine that it was against the law to serve wine after 10pm. All in all average food, fairly pricey and no atmosphere. The beef and black bean was the highlight. The chicken in a basket should be avoided at all costs as it is bland and tasteless. Sorry to say will not give this place another chance again.

Came here to have the lunch menu. I ordered spring rolls for starters which were nice and crunchy, not too greasy. Decided to o for the duck cantonese as my main dish. The duck was absolutely sublime. I love cantonese duck but i find it very hard to come across a decent duck dish, as most of the time the skin is quite fatty or over cooked. The duck in good world was amazing. incredibly tender, no fat and the crispiest skin and the sauce was incredible too. The best cantonese duck ive ever had, will definately be coming back!

Been here a couple of times and most recently went here with my partner in early April. We were seated immediately. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. We just ordered two mains and a number dim sum dishes to accompany it. The food was served quite swiftly. The food was delicious, in particular, the squid was amazing, as were the prawn dumplings. The menu is also very well- priced- it costs us just under €35 for two.

Four of us ate here last Saturday week. Surprisingly the restaurant was quite quiet so this did not provide much of an atmosphere which is disappointing on a Saturday night, particularly in this busy location. The decor in the restaurant is quite basic and does not provide any ambience in itself. We ordered drinks to start and like anything we ordered subsequently, they were placed on our table with barely a word being uttered. Strangely we noticed part way through our meal that there was a table beside us where people have maybe ordered off menu and seemed to have a great array of dishes. We did not notice this anywhere on the menus which we were ordering from. Apart from the crispy shredded beef which my husband ordered being dry and lacking in sauce, the food was fine though nothing to write home about. Service was below average - we topped up our own wine and were never offered refills on the other drinks or our water. Though I could have fitted in dessert on this occasion, we had decided to move on. There really wasn't anything keeping us here and likewise nothing that makes any of us wish to return any time soon.

Me and my friends went there for lunch last Saturday. It was quite crowed and we had to take the room in the basement. We ordered some dim sum stuff, very nice looking and tasty. The sea bass was gorgeous, we loved it. I think their early bird menu is very good value. Will go back again next weekend.

Excellent!! We had heard great things about Good World; we were here last week for an early evening meal and we were delighted with the food. We had heard in advance that we would need to ask for the Chinese menu - the waiter brought us two English ones but we asked if there was another menu and he brought us the Chinese menu as well. We ordered eight Dim Sum dishes between two of us, which was more than enough food and good value at about 35 euro. The steamed meat buns, scallop dumplings, char siu dumplings, and vietnamese spring rolls were all fantastic. The curry whelks were a little bit tough but still tasty. We also had dragon ball dumplings, fish ball curry, and quail egg dumplings which were all great too. Brought back so many memories of our holiday in China last year! It was fairly quiet at the time of the evening that we were there but it seemed like it would be a good place to go with a large group. The servers were polite and attentive. Happy all round, will definitely go again.

I visited good world for a celebratory meal with a good friend of mine. I started with ribs while my friend ate spring rolls. The ribs were very tasty with a decent amout of meat on them. The spring rolls were crispy and tasty but not particularly different to any other spring roll. I th then had chicken with spring onion and oyster sauce with fried rice. My friend had crispy duck. Both dishes were very tasty better than most chinese's in Dublin. Only complain would be not being offered the chinese menu. I have previously visited with chinese friends and had a fantastic authentic chinese meal.

Went here for the early bird menu, which is a very good deal (€16.50 for three courses before 7pm on weekdays). The food was of a high standard and was very authentic compared to most Chinese restaurants in Dublin. Chicken & sweetcorn soup was lovely and warming, and the beef in black bean sauce was great. We were in there for six, and the place had filled up quite a bit by the time we left so I'd recommend making a reservation. The interior is typical of a pleasant, albeit westernised, Chinese restaurant. The loud early '90s music was a bit off-putting at times, though - I don't need to hear Whitney Houston warbling I Will Always Love You over my meal!

Went here for Dim sum last Sunday. They have a fairly good selection which is quite authentic for Ireland. The har gau was great as were the shrimp in the long noodles. The place always has a buzz about it on a Sunday and the service is prompt and efficient. Prices are high for dim sum but this is Dublin after all so can't fault the place too much. Good Cantonese food in the center of Dublin, don't be afraid to ask for help from the waiters in deciding what to order!

It's a tale of TWO MENUS. Last time there there was a good and varied Chinese/English menu with free tea served when you sat down. This time it was the other standard English only menu geared towards non Chinese with all the usual choices served with gloopy sauces. All the diners there were Chinese and they were definitely not choosing from this menu. We chose anyway thinking that was the only choice and what we got was not good and expensive for what it was. Then a Chinese couple sat down beside us and were given the other menu and chose some lovely dishes including dim sum, steamed basket food and great noodles. I asked about this and it seems the English only menu is given automatically to non Chinese. The staff are friendly and accommodating and the place was full. If you go be sure to ask for the Chinese menu - much much better and more choice.

This was my second time here and I was just as disappointed as the first time. There is hardly any choice for vegetarians. I had the vegetarian spring roll as starter, which was just alright. I ordered the tofu and mushroom curry for main course, which was very disappointing, ended up eating the fried rice which was the only edible thing. The people I was with had the meat dishes, which they enjoyed, I think. The service here is good, but wouldnt' go here again, very disappointing for vegetarians!

I have dined here twice in the last year on both occasions the place was crowded . We were quickly seated by an attentive waitress and she was also very knowledgable about the food . food was faultless both times . If you are adventurous ask for the chinese nationals menu which seems to be more traqditional . A testament to the quality of the food was the number of chinese eating there .

Came here with some friends for a saturday afternoon tradition - dim sum. Its always so nice to share the food around, enjoying all the little delicacies arrayed in front of you - even if we do always end up arguing over the last vietnamese spring roll! Had the deep fried squid which was fresh and crispy, the char siu buns which were tasty as always, and i'd like to recommend the cheung fun, its one of my favourite dishes and they always do it so well here. Service, as always with a smile, but not as big as ours when we saw the bill - 45 euros for lunch for 5! Unbeatable.

I am a regular visit here - for two reasons - the excellent food which is great value for money. I am surprised at some of the reviewers who think that the place has disimproved - I have been coming here for a good many years (5+) and have found the food consistently excellent. It's interesting to see how many Chinese people eat in here - I think that is testimony to the authenticity of the Chinese menu. I think however if you come in here for Curry and chips you are missing the point - you'd be as well to go to your local take away! I find the staff here really helpful and friendly - particularly when they get to know you ... The premises could do with a bit of a face lift , but it's more than adequate. I would recommend that you try the Chinese menu as well as the regular a la carte menu .. there are some fantastic dishes ... try the Crispy roast Pork belly , the Choi Sum in oyster sauce , the Crispy lamb in salt and chilli or the whole steamed fish - all really excellent and not your standard Chinese take away fare! It is a great place for a crowd to go and to try a selection of dishes - I have done this on a number of occasions , and it's always been really well received - even by the most conservative of eaters! My visit today prompted me to write this review , as it's the first time I've been here for lunch in ages - and it ws absolutely jam packed - mainly with Chinese diners. The lunch was great value and was very good. Highly recommended.

Haven't been here in years so decided to give it a go last Saturday night. I had the aromatic duck to start and it was just lovely however my prawn & scallop main was pretty tasteless with a very slimy unappealing sauce. Some of my fellow supper clubbers went for the beef with black bean and beef with ginger & spring onion and both said they was delicious. However, the chicken satay was described by my friend as 'satay for beginners' and the chicken appeared to be of the processed variety. Having said all of that the atmosphere was good, despite children running around the place at 9.30 in the evening and the service was great. Lovely wines to choose from although the bog standard dessert menu wasn't terribly tempting. All in all though we had an enjoyable evening for a reasonable price.

This restaurant is fantastic. The portions are very large and quite reasonably priced. The food is very tasty and authentic chinese (I recommend the char sui). They do takeaway orders and the staff are helpful and friendly. I visit this restaurant every few weeks. The only bad thing I can say about this restaurant is that it can get quite busy and you may need to wait for a table.

Visited Good World for Yum cha yesterday, and as always it was very tasty and enjoyable. Really good, tasty dim sum and great value for what you get. If your looking from proper cantonese food in Dublin you'll struggle to find better.

This restaurant is such an establishment for good chinese comfort food.Joined friends late for their dinner. They had already started tucking into the peking duck which came on a bed of rice crackers, braised tofu and vegetables.I must highlight that they do good yin yang milk teas especially served with ice. Delightful to know u have such food to your convenience.

We decided to book the lunch special for a work lunch yesterday and you cannot beat this place for value, 3 courses for either €11 or €13. The food is amazing and as there was 18 of us they catered for eveyone by adding some European dishes. The portions were perfect and really filling without making us too full having to go back to work! The staff were really nice and efficient and even though there was a bit of a queue we were never pushed out the door. The only problem is that it is not a very big place so definately book in advance.

A friend and I went here on a quiet Sunday night. We were the only customers in the restaurant but the food was amazing! I had the prawn dim sum and they were perfect. I also had spring rolls which were a bit greasy. The satay chicken was amazing, I'll be back soon!

I'd read and heard so many good reports I was looking forward to eating here. However, I was kind of disappointed. Whilst there was plenty of choice on the lunch menu, I found, as a non rice eater, there was no choice available with noodles. I did ask if I could swop rice for noodles, but this couldn't be accommodated. The prawns I had for my main were nice, but I suspect there was a lot of msg in both starter and main. I will go back, probably not for the lunch or early bird (pity!) as I like to get the choice of noodles!!

I have tried the lunch at the good world and was not disappointed. We had a 2 course lunch for E11 and E13 (depending on what you order). My husband was happy with the ribs and beef and I had my soup and chicken. Nice location, quick service. Not my favourite chinese.

I ate here on sunday. The food on the normal chinese menu was not very good compared to many other restaurants around. But the dim sum and real chinese food menu was a delight. The canto duck is very lean and tasty. I would come again but only for the dim sum menu

Don't let the slightly dingy interior put you off, this is really a fantastic chinese restraunt. Very high quality food, reasonably priced, good service, they don't mind you sharing dishes. The main portions are huge. I'd recommend the seaseme duck, crispy salt and chili chicken and any of the pork dishes I've had there have been delicious. Really good find and very well priced.

The quality of the chicken is terrible. We were a party of twelve, nearly everyone had ordered a chicken based dish and for this reason the meal was a disaster.

This place has the best dim sum in Dublin. But the taste of their food can varies lot from time to time, probably depends on who was cooking it. The restaurant is not big, therefore it can get quite crowded. If you planned to have a romantic dinner with your partner, I would not recommend this place.

I was in this restaurant many years ago and liked the idea - good quality authentic Chinese food without the frills at a reasonable price. At that time the restaurant was full of local Chinese people which is usually a good sign. I enjoyed the restaurant so much I often recommended it to friends. I wont be doing that anymore as this place has gone vertically downhill. The spring rolls for starter were tasteless and overcooked. The chicken in my main (black bean) was of poor tube-like quality and made it difficult to enjoy the tasty sauce. My girlfriend had sweet and sour chicken in hong kong sauce which was quite good but im guessing this was because only hong kong pork was on the menu so this was a special request and cooked freshly. The egg fried rice contained extremely dry pieces of pork throughout while the mineral i got was flat and warm. all in all a very very disappointing experience. I will not be returning and i would warn people who have fond memories of the place to stay away.

Albeit we were there late on a friday, 10pm, the food was aweful. Out of a group of 12 of us, only two got anything nice, the crispy chilli beef, and at €15 I expected more of a meal, it was more like a starter with a side of rice. As for the others, the chicken was disgusting, it looked like jelly, and nobody came away very happy. I had been there a few years ago and it was good, so maybe we just got a bad night (but it was a really bad night if so).

€11 for a three course meal. Thats hard to beat. And the food is amazing.I had the ribs for starters. They were over cooked, but still tasty. The black bean beef for main and a banana fritter for dessert. The service is fast and the portions are large. A place I will always recommend.

Not the cheapest Chinese in the world but reasonable for the good quality food. I'm a sucker for prawn toast and they do an excellent version! The food really is very tasty and I have gone back on lots of occassions. Service is reasonably quick and friendly too.

Nice authentic Chinese food. Atmosphere is typical of Chinese restaurants--lively. The service is average, but cordial. I have been there quite a number of times and the food is always good. I particularly like the Dim Sum selection and some of their dishes. I will definitely go back there when the Chinese craving hits me.

We ate here in a group from work, all with different tastes but all came out happy. Shared dim sum to start, which was fun, mains went down well although my satay had very little spice to it. A colleague's main of scallops was very tasty and far more generous in portion than a certain much pricier seafood place on the Green. The duck and beef were exactly as they should be. All our meals were filling and tasty, although I would have liked to see a few more unusual items on the menu; perhaps they are catering for conservative Irish tastebuds?

I have nebver been to good World but I love Dim Sum so I dropped in the other day with a friend. It turned out my friend is not a fan of Dim Sum unfortunately so we opted for regular Chinese fare off the A L a Carte menu. We were greeted promptly and seated straight away. we both opted for Tsing Tao beer-I love it- and we also both opted for Crab and sweetcorn soup. It was a small portion but tasty nonetheless. I had the scallops with ginger and spring onion- it was lovely with tons of scallops- and my friend had the crispy duck. Again this was very tasty although as it came with no sauce, I think it would be a dish better shared with something else, such as my scallops. We rounded it off with two coffees. The bill came to nearly €70 so not the bext value for lunch but it was good. There were loads of Chinese people dining here which i would take a vote of confidence in the authenticity of the food. Next time I will try the Dim Sum as the selection looks amazing.

Come here for chinese (actual chinese food for chinese people as opposed to chinese for westerners, just ask for a chinese menu!!) Probably the better chinese restaurant compared to the others in city centre. Try jelly fish, chicnken's feet if you want to be more adventurous with food!!

nice place, good food, bit greasy, relatively good prices. friendly staff. not impressed with paper table cloths, makes your table look much more messy then it is (with all the greasy crumbs leaving stains...). Good place for lunch when shopping around grafton street.

A great stalwart. Went in last wednesday for an early bird (till 6.30) dinner at €16.50. The menu is plain - 3 courses and tea/coffee. The choice is limited but covers most old favourites: sweet and sour, black bean etc. The food was tasty and plentiful - in fact we were absolutely full after the main courses but had to make room for banana fritters! It wouldn't be the same without them. Having often eaten here before from the a la carte, I can recommend the full menu. The dim sum are great and the chefs are perfectly happy to make up a dish not on the menu if possible. The service is prompt, efficient and friendly. There are no hidden extras and there is no pressure to order sides, drinks etc.

I've eaten here a couple of times and the food is great. Restaurant itself is nothing special, quite open but clean and staff friendly. If you go around lunchtime, you will see lots of chinese families having their dim sum dinners - good enough for me. Highly recommend the chicken satay but it's all good!

the entrance of this restaurant is little hidden, but inside is big, i sat on the ground floor and i think their are more seats downstairs. OK, the food is good, really like the tofu there, deep fried tofu taste very good. The service in the restaurant is very good, they speak both english and chinese, no confusion at all. The price is slightly expensive compare with the other restaurants. But all in all, it worth visiting.

Moany gits!!!! Coming from Vancouver, with it's huge Chinese community, The Good World is great. Take it from me, tacky decor often means tasty food. I have had the best Chinese food under florescent lights. The dim-sum, delicious. I go back for the chilli and pepper squid regularly.

A great spot - authentic Chinese food with ex-pats dotted here and there, always a good sign! Service is fast which is appreciated at lunch-time for those hurrying back to work. We booked a table for a quick lunch and it did not disappoint. Both of us had the chicken, a quick glass of wine and ice-cream to finish! The best booked rice in Dublin! Service excellent, good value - will be back soon.

We went here for our Christmas Eve dinner with the extended family. It wasn't the most amazing place visually but the service and the food more than made up for that. The portions were perfect, meaning everyone ate their fill and there was none left over. I had the sechuan chicken which was amazing.

The Good World is Great!!! The food is always good and they offer one of the best value lunches in Dublin - €11 for three full-size courses. I regularly go there for lunch and to get two full-size three course meals plus coffees for a total of €25 is brilliant value in Dublin. You should book to make sure you get a spot. I'm not sure why the complaints about the decor but I've never had a problem with it. Yes the prices are more typical for evening meals, but the food is still good and the service is always brisk and efficient.

I had heard lots of good reports about this restaurant and finally visited yesterday expecting it to resemble one of the many fantastic restaurants I visited in China a few years ago but what a let down, my local take away is as good. The food was totally westernised and uninspiring and the decor was jaded and boring. The staff however were plesant and efficient. I feel there may be a separate menu for chinese people as anyone oriental (and there were many) were immedietly given tea on their arrival and were also provided with chopsticks. The food they were eating bore little resemblance to the menu . I would like to say to the owners of the Good World, if you have an authentic Chinese restaurant please let it be authentic for everyone.

I can't agree with some other reviewers who seem to go to a restaurant for its decor. Sure it's nice to have nice surroundings but I think the food is the most important bit. And the Good World has good food. Very tasty, a wide range and at a good price. I've been here a few times and I've always been happy with the service. The staff are polite and on the ball. I've never had a bad dish and always found the bill very acceptable. always reckon that Chinese food is good when I see Chinese/Asian people eating there....!!!! It's not flashy but I'd rather pay for the food than the decor!!

I was recommended this restaurant by Chinese girl from Hong Kong years ago. Since then, I always go there. I just love this restaurant. Food is always good. It's because this restaurant is Hong Kong style, it's not that spicy. 10 of us were there for lunch. We orderd a lot of different kind of dumplings (Special menu, I guess) and shared. We ate so much but we paid only €13 each incl service charge which was very good value. I'll go back there very soon!

Atrocious... I went here last week with some friends for a birthday dinner and i wasn't impressed. I must agree with some of the other reviewers here. I found the decor tacky, the service terrible and the food was only so-so. The starter arrived (chicken and sweetcorn soup) in the tiniest of bowls that i have ever seen. My friend got tiny spring rolls which arrived on a tiny bed of shredded lettuce. Each portion was smaller than the next. For the main i ordered a Chicken Curry. The chicken was completely and utterly horrible... it was soft and almost mushy but not chewy. The rice portion i received was small. Overall i left the dinner feeling starving. We asked for Prawn Crackers during the dinner but we were told 'There's none left' and that the next batch would take 45 minutes... If they can't get prawn crackers right... enough said.

I visited this restaurant last week with work friends. The decor is bad, but there seemed to be a lot of chinese people eating here so we thought it must be good. When we sat, we were not offered prawn crackers or water. We ordered and our starters were lovely. The wine list seemed expensive, €22 for a cheap bottle of wine.. Our main course was also nice. The deserts were not good though. Overall It was nice, I will go back.

I think the Good World is the best and most authentic Chinese restaurant in Dublin, and I've been to them all. And given that it is packed with Chinese people everyday, they must agree with me. It does help that my Dad is Chinese, so we get the real Chinese menu. I just wish they provided this menu to all the Irish people too. But they will provide this for you if you ask. If you want fried rice with curry sauce and chips then this is not the place for you. But if you want roast duck, real chinese vegetables and salt and chilli prawns and the like, then you will love it. Plus I think it is great value compared to other Dublin eateries. An average meal for my family is about 25-30 euro per head, with alot of wine. The decor leaves alot to be desired, but I would rank a gorgeous meal over gorgeous furnishings. But with queues outside 7 days a week, I guess they don't need to hide behind fancy wallpaper.

I had not been to the Good World restuarant in about five years and after last nights bad experience I will not return there again. The restaurant was quiet at 8.20pm and we were delighted to be seated so quickly. After choosing a set meal for two we ordered wine also. After ten minutes our soup arrived, tasty but no water or wine had yet arrived at our table, we had to ask for both. Starters were a disaster and served on the smallest of plates, almost a saucer. The main course arrived on yet again smaller plates that we had ever seen in a chinese restuarant. We had to ask for water during the meal and not once did a waiter return to our table to ask us how our meal was. Desert was again small in size and served unattractively. Our coffee was brought to our table at the same time as our desert. We had to ask for the bill and waited for about five mintues despite the fact that the restaurant was almost empty. An appalling experince, very bad service for staff that were not interested in looking after the customer. Will not return.

We booked a table for 12 which was a little cramped, and awkward to get in and out of the seats. We tried a number of starters and most were fantastic - and there was a wide selection available. Similarly the mains were excellent, although the crispy beef that I personally had chosen was disappointingly almost only batter. A fairly disappointing selection of deserts. Service was pretty efficient, but certainly far from attentive - very slow attempting to get any drinks or the bill. Prices are extremely reasonable. Overall a pretty good experience though.

Very authentic dim-sum to be had at Good World restaurant. The seafood fried rice is excellent, the egg tarts are always sold out (even during lunch time!!) so I had to come back even earlier to get them. Get the meatball dumplings and glutinous rice in lotus leaf. The crispy duck was good, kung po chicken is okay. The only substandard dishes I ordered was that the lamb stew is salty and the carrot cake was slightly too soft, as the outside should be crispier. Service is good, with very helpful staff.

Some work colleagues arranged a night for us all to go to the good world to taste some authentic chinese cuisine. It was an experience in itself. Eating and tasting almost everything from the menu but if i was hungry its not the place i would go.

I would not be in a rush to return to this restaurant. I found the food to be mediocre at best. The beef in my dish was of a poor quality which is very disappointing. You can certainly get much better quality and tastier Chinese food in the city. The restaurant is also in dire need of a make-over, the decor was pretty shabby and outdated. Also, i was in a party of two and found the table too large for a comfortable conversation. On the plus side, the service was polite (although hardly friendly)

Came here for Dim Sum on Sunday with 8 people. Mostly with Chinese people and we thought the food was mediocre. Can certainly get better Dim sum in Dublin. The steamed Bao's seemed to be the only thing nice on the menu. Service is somewhat average and I think the restaurant needs a revamp. It looks the same as it did 12 years ago!

Surprised at the good comments about this restaurant. We ate here on the spur of the moment and really I feel the restaurant could have been a lot better. First impression on walking through the door is that it hasn't changed much in years and just inside the front door could do with a good clean up and a lick of paint. Service was good but they put us at a table for two that was too big and we asked to change when the table next to us became free minutes after we sat down. Food was very bland ordered duck and chicken dishes and really would have got better from the local chinese takeaway. Wont be back in a hurry

Definitely a must!I love this restaurant. The last time i went there were no tables upsatairs so we sat downstairs, which was nice and cosy and quiet! The food is always gorgeous and i would recommend the crab meat and sweetcorn soup as it seems to be one of the few to actually use crab meat and not the seafood sticks!the food was lovely and hot and just took the right amount of time to come out after each course.I shared a main course cause we never finish one each but we got plenty of rice and the bill was a nice price too.

The Good World has the BEST dim sum / yum cha I have been able to find in Dublin. Their char sui buns are delicious as are all their steamed dumplings etc And the fried squid...fabulous! The staff are always friendly and helpful, though it can be difficult at times to gain their attention. The food is always fresh and tasty. I highly recommend it!!

No fuss good food. Dimsums are best in Dublin, though the menu has not changed much in the last 15 years, still it is one of the best places to have chinese food. (full of chinese people half the time) Staff are friendly. Only gripe is round tables, with not much gap in between, thus one is always sitting at an awkward angle.

Myself and my girlfriend ate here for the first time last week. Food was good but nothing that would distinguish it from anywhere else. Staff were polite and prices are what you would expect. I heard so many good things about the place and had high hopes but at the end of the day they was nothing really to draw me back a second time

We ate here on a busy Sat night and we were not disappointed. This is a favourite of a few friends of mine and I can only say I now agree. The service was brilliant even though the place was full. It is a good sign that they regularly have to turn people away as they are so popular. We had the set meal for 2 which at €28 per person was EXCELLENT VALUE for soup a mixed starter platter - 3 mains- desert and tea and we also had a bottle of wine. Bar far the best quality chinese food you can get in Dublin City Centre - will definately be returning

Great Dim Sum for lunch. We ate here on Thursday for lunch. The whole place was packed, mostly Chinese people which must be a good sign. We ordered about 14 different Dim Sum dishes between 6 of us and all, bar one were really excellent. Bill came to about €10 each. I'll be back.

Went here yesterday after a Chinese friend convinced me to go here. I was a little curious and she got the proper Chinese menu and not the rubbish that we westerners eat. (Which the Chinese don’t). I can’t say I was a massive fan of jellyfish but great to try something new. Their pork and duck were good but still it all had msg very bad. Rolling around not sleeping with indigestion is never good. I wish most Chinese restaurants would take after places like koh where no msg is used!!!! At least the service was friendly.

Surprised by the negative reveiws for Good World. I've eaten here at least 8 or 9 times and found both the food and service very good. The restaurant is also extremely good value for money. The staff are very polite and courteous. I would and have recommended it to others, and have taken many friends to eat here, all of whom gave good reviews.

Found myself in town on a weekday evening, and my first and second choice of restaurants were closed down and too full respectively. The Good World was my third choice, but should have been my first. I had salt chilli squid, and my dining companion had salt chilli crab claws. Both were delicious and a real treat. Sure it has paper tablecloths and isn’t exactly opulent, but it has damn good food and is usually full of Chinese people. I’d prefer good authentic food in modest surrounds. Horses for courses.

Ever since I started working, I've been here countless times! :) Yes, the food is excellent, price can be quite price-y but nevertheless, worth-it if you want to have good quality, authentic oriental cuisines! Love the dim-sum here, highly recommended!

A spur of the moment decision to eat here meant we weren't too disappointed when we found the restaurant a bit flat. The high ceilings seemed to swallow up the atmosphere. We were ushered down to a small room downstairs that smelled like a furniture shop - not unpleasant, but not appetising. The service was friendly and efficient and the place was clean. From a very large menu, I was offered a choice of only 4 vegetarian options, which was extremely disappointing. The veggie options were also very basic and essentially 4 versions of the same thing. The price was a bit steep, especially considering the very mediocre quality of the food. That said, the portions were good. Overall, a middling experience. Probably fine for meat-eaters, but vegetarians should avoid.

Avoid this restaurant if you are a Chinese food lover. Service was poor, lighting far too bright, food cold/ luke warm and waiters that don't know why they are there. Go somewhere else, where they appreciate your custom. Won't be going back.

The top place in Dublin for Dim Sum for sure. The service is excellent and the staff take the time to explain the more unusual dishes such as sticky chicken's feet....yes we tried them, ever the adventurous eaters! No we won't be ordering them again but that is nothing to do with the cooking, just personal preference. We come to Dublin especially once a month on for a Sunday brunch Dim Sum meal and our fav Dim Sum is fish cakes, yam puffs, char sui buns (really good), char sui puffs, and the egg custard tarts are delicious and buttery washed down with some jasmin tea. All the other tables are usually filled with Chinese diners so this must be a good sign!

We went to The Good World because another place was booked out. I have eaten here a few times and know it's good. This time it was the same, the food quality was really good and there is a slight variation on the standard Chinese menu that you get in most places. The Scallop Dumpling were melt in the mouth goodness. For mains I had the Spicy Crisy Beef. The prices were reasonable, the service was mostly good, but different waiters meant different attitudes, so that was kind of average but mostly friendly. I would definitely go back here.

I've eaten here quite a lot over the last few years. My experience in the majority of cases was good. The ambiance isn't great and the waiters tend to give you the food with a take it or leave it attitude. That said, the quality and quantity of the food is very good. The prices are reasonable too. A restaurant I tend to visit if I want a good quick meal without too much waiting.

This place is the best Chinese restaurant in Dublin I think. Good food never let me down, and they never add some stupid "Service charge" on you bill, I can pay the tips in my way. The people there are friendly and very quick movement, dim sum is my favorite, don't miss it when you get chance.

I ate regularly here for years until the standards slipped considerably. The sizzling beef with green pepper and black bean sauce was gorgeous until late, now it seems the beef is not so tender and they have compromised on quality. Very disappointed with my last visit and this restaurant was usually full of the Chinese community boasting its previous high standards. Needs to revamp dessert menu considerably.

This was my regular chinese restaurant during my student days. They do quite good Dim sum if that's the kind of meal you like. I have discovered other chinese restaurants since those good old student days and while I still eat here from time to time my visits have become more and more infrequent. I guess the main courses tend to be more on the bland side and as I get older I expect better service. While the staff is not exactly unfriendly the service is not delivered with much enthusiasm nor warmth. I remember making a small mistake when paying by credit card a while back and the waitress came back in a huff saying " excuse me sir, can you change the bill please, it is not 62 pounds it is 62 pounds 20 pence" I guess every penny counts here.

I have been eating in Good World for years - in fact I am addicted to the place! They have two menus - English and authentic Chinese. I always eat the food from the Chinese menu. The Dim Sum is amazing; I especially love the Vietnamese Spring rolls and the mixed meat dumplings. All their noodle dishes are great, especially the Crispy seafood noodles, which have succulent scallops in it. Staff are really friendly and it is very reasonable.

Went here for my birthday, my boyfriend booked it weeks in advance yet we were put down in this grotty little room downstairs. There was a boiler of some kind beside my head, which was whirring away so we couldn't hear each other speaking so we asked to be moved to a table upstairs, and they refused so we just left. Would absolutely NEVER even consider going in there again.

We (4 in total) went to dinner last week in Good World and I can't wait to go back. We ate from the Dim Sum menu and got 15 dishes in total plus 2 bottles of wine all in for € 30 a-head. Fabulous value considering we were far too stuffed for a cheeky drink afterwards. The Dim Sum menu isn't offered to patrons as it contains a lot of specialist dishes, just ask for it though. Finally if you want a more romantic atmosphere, ask to be seated downstairs as the decor is more welcoming.

Went here on Tuesday the 3rd for the first time with some friends for Dim Sum as an excuse to skive from work for a while. Have to say was very impressed with the food, the service was fantastic and I almost had to be rolled out for over indulging. Have the Ha Gau (Shrimp Dumplings), as they are fabulous. Am going back ASAP and taking the better half.

I brought my friend and three kids here about two weeks ago and I can safely say I was astonished at how absolutely awful it was. Rice was extra. The 'pepper sauce' was bisto with pepper in it. The 'dipping sauce' was salad cream. The desserts were bought-in rubbish. The food was tasteless. The beef I had was mostly fat. The atmosphere was not relaxed or friendly. The staff actually ASKED for a tip at the end of the dreadful experience. We shared starters, two of the kids shared a main and the other only had a starter. We had no drinks and 3 desserts and the bill was €120. The food tasted worse than stuff you'd get from a jar. Seriously, I can't recommend strongly enough that you give this place a very wide berth.

I'm not a huge fan of Chinese food but found The Good World to be a cut above the usual. The dumplings were good as was the service. What was particularly satisfying was the bill. Starters, main course, bottle of wine and coffee for two came to €80 including tip. I'd certainly recommend this restaurant.

Came back to this restaurant after many years eating elsewhere. The décor hasn’t changed nor the clientele there are always lots of Chinese people eating here, a good sign I recommend the Dim Sum and eating Chinese style

Not a big fan. Food was quite bland and tasteless. Chicken dish was not nice at all, mostly fat rather than meat. The restaurant is very dark and has a strange atmosphere. Not a place that I will be going back to although my guests enjoyed parts of their meals more than I did.

Fantastic. Ask for the dim sum and Chinese menus, both of which have English translations and are far more interesting than the standard one. Be sure to book ahead, bring friends and eat Chinese style (each person picks a dish and then everyone shares) and enjoy yourself with some of the best Chinese food going! Kid friendly, too, though I'm not sure if they have high chairs.

Best Chinese in Dublin. All the celebs go here & it's always full of Chinese people in the wee hours of the morning looking for supper after finishing work in other Chinese restaurants.... always a good sign. Been going there for years, and you must always ask for the Chinese menu, as it's completely different to the western menu the usually hand out, & much more authentic.

This Chinese restaurant in my opinion is one of the best in town. The trick is to ask for the Dim Sum menu when you arrive as opposed to the 'normal' menu. I'd highly recommend the Prawn Dumplings and the Roast Pork!

I tried here for lunch one day but won't be running back. Food was quite bland, atmosphere is kind of strange, the restaurant is very dark and looks kind of dirty, which I'm sure it's not but I couldn't be sure as it was too dark to tell. Not a place that I will be going back to.
