The best value set lunch in Dublin. FXBs staff are great, accommodating, and friendly - they managed to fit us in on a Friday lunch with no booking, and no fuss. The food is great, and really good value at €20 for three courses - and the portions are very generous. I will return, and it will be our location of choice for work lunches as well!

I have eaten in this restaurant about 6 or 7 times in the last couple of years .The food has always been excellent and luckily for me and my guests I have never had to complain about the food or the service. I arrived with a friend on a friday evening with no booking and there was no problem getting a table and the manager didn't put a time restriction on vacating the table as it was early evening about 7. Very good value for 2 courses 19.50 euro - and plenty of choices for starters and mains. The 2 starters were delicious - kidneys in a hearty sauce and mussels with white wine and garlic. Rib eye steak was worth paying extra (4 euro). Staff were professional and interested in the customers and went the extra mile . Maybe the wine list could be extended and some more french wines added to the list.

I enjoyed a lovely early bird meal. Ham Hock terrine to start followed by Beek Brisket cooked to perfection. This was my second selection from the menu as on a previous occasion I sampled the flambeed kidneys and Hake fillet. Unlike other early bird options offered elsewhere, this restaurant offers very good value for money as the portions are quite generous.

5 of us dined there on Tuesday 27th with a senior US colleague. The food was right up his street - excellent steaks bar I gave him the wrong recommendation - he should have gone from the Rib eye on the bone ..bigger ..as he's from Texas and thought the 10oz was small ! Everyone enjoyed it and the service was excellent. We certianly couldn;t complain about your steaks ...so we got what we hoped for ..so you can;t complain!

Went here for a quiet bite to eat after work. We ordered the scallops & chicken livers to start followed buy the chataubriand for 2 which was cooked to perfection, we asked for it rare. In hind sight there was no need for starters with this main course as it was accompanied by so many sides - champ, fries, green beans, mushrooms, onions as well as 3 sauces all served on the side. Service was friendly and efficient, will definitely return.

I like this place. I go here every so often for lunch. I had a wonderful seafood chowder with bread and butter. It was delicious! Unfortunately my main course was very disappointing. I had not had it in here before but I have eaten it often as it is a fav of mine.It was Beef Bourguignon. The sauce was far too rich. The meat was really tough with fat/gristle. I could not eat it in the end. Next time I will stick to the fish and chips which I know they do rather well.

We usually dine at a different FXB but decided to visit this restaurant for a change. The service was excellant, the food was delicious and the steak was cooked to perfection. As it is Christmas party season it was booked out and the staff were rushed of there feet, but credit to them they did a great job. With regards to the menu, I found the starters to be very limited compared to Crow street, neither of us eat fish so when you exclude the fish starters I think the only choices were soup, kidneys or mozerella salad. This was fine but I had really been looking forward to the goats cheese crouton. That wasn't really an issue for us though. I will definitely be back.

We arrived at about 6:30pm so we were expecting it to be quiet but there were a few other diners in and the place was still very warm and welcoming. We opted for the 2-course early bird, main course with dessert. We were both really impressed with the food, meat was cooked perfectly and was delicious, came out promptly and the portion sizes were good. My only gripe would be that there were no veg at all with the mains, I had the medallions of beef which were served on a bed of spring onion mash, really tasty but I would have liked even a small serving of veg - I could have had that, but would have been charged as an extra and I feel that's a bit mean. However the food was really excellent as was the service. We had a half bottle of red wine, it was a lovely temperature. The atmosphere was good, the place wasn't long filling up so it obviously has a good reputation. All in all, a really good experience and I'd definitely recommend it.

I used to find this place hit and miss but it has improved a lot in the last year. I was here on Monday, the early bird option is fantastic, with steak on the menu its really good value for money. The host brought us a glass of prosecco when we arrived and was very attentitive through the whole meal, staff were prompt and really friendly, the whole place had a really cozy vibe, it was busy but you didn't feel like you were on top of the person next to you. Will definately return again.

One of my favorite Restaurants in Dublin, I come here quite often. I organized 2 Staff Night Out Dinners here in the past with up to 25 guests. Yesterday I went with 5 friends to enjoy good food and service and waws not disappointed. Working in a 5 Star Hotel in the City Center I like to recommend FXB to my Guests as the value and quality of the food and the service is at a constant high. No matter if you go for a business dinner or a romantic evening, they will make it a perfect night.

one of my favourite restaurants in town! i eat here a lor for lunch during the week with work so when my dad was retiring i thought of this place! i talked to the manager who was only too happy to help so we booked their private dining room which was intimate and so enjoyable! there were 40 of us for my dads retirement party and fxb made the night so perfect! there was an adjoining room which we started in and all had a glass of champagne and there was a balcony off this room for the smokers! the food was superb...we obviously had a set menu as there was so many of us but i think it was €30 per head for 3 courses and the portions were a great size, the service was second to none....everybody had a superb night....it was faultless!! the staff, atmosphere and food made the perfect night for my dad and all the family!! i have been to their gastro pub in christchurch which i love but will definitely have to try the rest of their restaurants if there as good as pembroke street!

Came here for a birthday in the private rom upstairs. From walking throught he main restaurant it didn't seem to have much atmosphere. Food was good, nothing incredible but good quality and well cooked, eventough my steak was not as rare as I would have liked They don't so anything special with the food here, but if you are looking for a hearty steak dinner this is the place for you.

First review, so here goes…… I went there with my girlfriend last Sat evening at 7pm. The atmosphere was good courtesy of the place being full, that it was a beautiful summers evening and there was lots of light shining through into the building. We ate from their value menu which was 3 courses for 2 people and a bottle of their house wine for €75. We had the mussels and pate to start. The mussels were pleasant, cooked in white wine and shallots. The pate was very well seasoned, served with red onion marmalade and toasted brioche. It was excellent. For mains we both had the rib eye steak, medium with pepper corn sauce and a red wine jus. Both were tender and cooked perfectly. We had fries, sautéed onions and creamed spinach as sides. The fries were chunky and well seasoned and the onions were nice – sautéed but not greasy. The spinach was less desirable as it was surrounded by a sea of cream with a generous helping of parmesan. Far less cream would have resolved this. For desert we had chocolate & hazelnut pudding and a lemon tart. The waitress also brought out some Cashel blue cheese for us to sample as we made joke of mixing blue cheese and a lemon tart together (don’t ask!!). This was a nice touch. Speaking of the waitress the service was excellent. The waitress was very friendly, had excellent knowledge of the menu and made us feel very welcome. All in all we had a great night. I will go back to this restaurant again and I would recommend it to friends. I thought the value for money was superb and ideal for couples watching the pennies also.

Went here recently for a couple's dinner. The restaurant was quite busy, however we got a table at the front of the room and away from the large crowds. The restaurant is dimly lit at the rear of the room, which would be nice for a romantic meal, with the exception of the noisy crowd that day of course. Service was good, the waiter was quite attentive in between the course. The meal itself was delicious, however the main dish and dessert in particular were fabulous. Would definitely go here again and recommend it to others.

Our party of five visited this restaurant last weekend we were disappointed with the overall experience. For a restaurant that prides itself on the quality of its meat, the steaks were real let-down, cold, not properly cooked and fatty.? Although we had booked a table for 8.30pm, it wasn’t ready when we arrived. Not a big deal, but we were left standing in the corridor beside the toilets. Disappointingly for a venue which won plaudits for quality service, there was no attempt made to get a drinks order from our table until one of our group actually had to ask. We all ordered off the €30 menu. The pate was decent but not memorable, the Caesar salad was drenched in dressing and seemed to only consist of soggy lettuce. The prawns were fine - the decision to cover them in batter could be seen as an attempt to mask any shortcomings. ? Mains were really disappointing. Three of our number went for the steak - two medium and one rare. The steaks were cooked the same way. The meat wasn’t tender and there was a lot of fat on the cuts. ?One of our group ordered the beef medallions - served cold and had the texture of a piece of meat that had been reheated. The monkish was bland and chewy. ? There was no attempt by our waitress to check on the food. Complaining doesn’t come naturally to many Irish diners but when one of our number was eventually asked about his half eaten steak, he said that he found it very disappointing. The waitress didn’t even ask the rest of us what they thought of their food. We decided to forgo dessert and requested the bill.? At this stage, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the manager would have made an appearance at our table. Wrong. ??She took one of the steaks off the bill and reduced the bill to €25 a head - their decision, not ours - but there was no attempt to find out what the problem was. Interestingly, the 12.5% service charge which is employed on parties of 5 or more, was left on the bill. ?Really disappointing.?

I had heard about this restaurant from some work colleagues and had wanted to try it ever since. I went with my fiance on a friday evening. We hadnt booked but managed to get a table without any hassle. The restaurant itself wasnt overly busy at the time we arrived but soon after almost every table was filled. We availed of the early bird menu which offered 3 courses for €30. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive and the food was served promptly. To start I had paté (fine but nothing extraordinary - probably wouldnt order it again) while my fiancé had prawns which he really enjoyed. For the main course we both had fillet steak and ate every bite - very enjoyable. I will def return for the steak alone! For dessert we shared a pannacotta. I am not really a huge dessert fan but my fiance enjoyed it. Overall I would definitley return for the friendly service, warm atmosphere and delicious fillet steak! The one small drawback was that the tables were a little cramped and didnt leave a whole lot of room between one table and the next but overall a lovely meal and good value.

I had been eagerly anticipating our visit to FXBs and we weren’t disappointed. We were a large party and I was so impressed with how professional the service was with everything coming out to the table at the same time and the staff being organised enough to know who ordered what. Professional seems to sum the whole night up. Our waiter was friendly and on the ball and kept everyone happy. We all ate from the value menu -3 courses for just under €30. Starters sampled were the kidneys, the Caesar salad and the mussels. Be warned the salad is slathered in dressing. The kidneys and mussels were a huge hit. Most of us had the rib eye for main course (5€ supplement). As always FXB steak is so good. Those who took the rump steak also enjoyed it and the medallions looked so tender. It was pure gourmandise to take desserts. The lemon tart was more ‘baked cheesecake’ and less ‘French tartlet’ than I had expected. Coffees were good and the Chinon and Crozes Hermitages wines went down well with the steaks. Great to simultaneously enjoy high standards and a value (relatively speaking) meal.

Two of us were enjoying date night and wandered into FXB with out a booking. Thankfully, it was pretty early in the evening. We were very lucky to be seated immediately - we watched several groups turned away as the restaurant was fully booked for the evening. I recommend booking in advance if you are able. The service was friendly The goat's cheese was wonderful. We both ordered rib-eye steaks and they were prepared exactly as ordered.

I hadn't eaten here in a while and it was great to see that the high standards are still in place. My partner and I arrived having only booked a few hours earlier and were promptly seated. Although the all day value menu looked great, we both ordered off the a la carte. My starter of lobster and langoustine cocktail was plentiful, well flavoured and nicely presented. The only let down was a large piece of lobster shell which put me off finishing the dish. My partner found his chicken liver pate very enjoyable. For mains we both had steak, fillet for me and t-bone for him. Both were delicious and couldn't be faulted. I would love to know what seasoning is used on the steaks! We also enjoyed a bottle of petit chablis and two large bottles of mineral water. The bill in total about about €108, but as the service had been very good all evening, we added a generous tip. We finished off the meal by taking our glasses of wine out onto the front terraced area. A pleasant evening and definitely value for money. We wouldn't hesitate to return.

This is a great little spot. Restaurant itself is very cosy - we were sat tat the back of the restaurant. Told about the seafood specials that night we decided it was best to try the seafood starter - we were definately getting steak as a main course. Seafood starter was great - lobster and prawn and lots of it - fresh and tasty. Black pudding was great too. After expressing how stuffed we were we were asked would we like a break before we got the main courses - we did! nice touch. Steaks were perfect as expected. Again we relaxed and drank the recommended rioja before ordering desserts. Chocolate pudding and panna cotta both really tasty. Bill was very reasonable as we ordered from the set menu at €35. We couldnt fault the evening and will definately be back.

Arrived here with a party of 5 guys! We were greeted and seated very promptly on a busy night! We all opted for the Value Menu @ 30e for three courses... The food was great not one complaint from our party!! With all guys we all went for the steal on the value menu and everyone was delighted with their choice! Desert was the icing on the cake, we all had the Chocolate & Hazelnut Pudding and to say it was the best desert I have ever tasted, might be an understatement! The meal was all flushed down with a handful of pints and the bill came to a reasonable 250e including service charge! All in all a great meal!

A few friends and I had dinner here Thursday night. Really pleasant experience really. Restaurant had a nice buzz to it. Service was great. Nice welcome. Friendly but not overbearing and really attentive. Nice wine list - 20% off at the moment. Ordered from the three course value menu - great choice of things you actually want to eat. I had the black pudding which was surprisingly tasty. Had a fillet steak for an extra five euro and they gave me a gratin as a side for no extra charge. Was well worth it! Had no room for dessert - went for a coffee instead (and a brandy). Lovely spot will definately be back.

We visited this restaurant last night and arrived a couple of minutes early. The table wasn't ready until about ten minutes after we had reserved and unfortunately as there is no-where else to sit, the only option is to stand in the hallway which is not really ideal. As when we've visited before the starter and steaks were really good. We all opted for the set menu and at just under thirty euro per person this is really good value. Service was efficient after we were seated and always pleasant. My one major issue was dessert. As a real dessert lover, I look forward to this part of the meal and here it was a real let down. This restaurant's interpretation of apple tarte tatin is unfortunately to take a slab of pre-cooked puff pastry, drizzle some caramel over (mine was burnt and tasted bitter) and top off with three chunks of warm but uncooked apple. Though it was barely touched, at clearing, no-one asked why. A real disappointment and unfortunately though we had had lovely starters and mains, this left me with a bad taste in my mouth - literally.

Went here last Saturday with my husband for the early bird. We had not booked in advance and they found us a table and advised what time they would need it back for the bookings. They gave us over 2 hours which was more than enough time for an early bird, we were well gone by the allocated time, but we were never rushed by the staff. My husband had the pate to start with and the steak for mains. I had the beef medallions for mains and the dessert of the day - vanilla apple crumble. Everything was beautiful, I asked for my main to be served with different veg and sauce than what was on the menu and there was no problems at all with this. Service was excellent, great value, we really enjoyed ourselves. I would highly recommend this restaurant and haven't stopped talking about it all week. We will definitely return and probably with a few friends in tow!

This place continues to impress and is one of the hidden gems in Dublin. This is a slightly belated review. I took a group of 12 here for a very early Xmas party. It's fair to say that everyone in the group (most of whom hadn't been there before) was very impressed. Virtually everyone had a steak, which are just gorgeous here. I also had the seafood chowder. (I never ate chowder before I first tried this restaurant, but now I'm addicted to it as a result). This is the kind of place where you're never left wondering if your main course was a bit small. The portions are fantastic. Wine list is excellent (try the rioja) Service here is excellent - friendly, and very well informed. Atmosphere is really great, the only possible complaint being that the restaurant is quite small and can feel very crowded when it's busy. A top-notch place, and the best value for money you're likely to find on the Southside

Went to FXB for their early bird menu, which is excellent value at €19.95 for two courses. Had the Cesar Salad for starters - very nice but bacon much too salty! Had the bacon chop for mains - it's absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, gorgeous breadcrumbs on the outside, lovely mustard sauce and the mash is just SO good. They've a nice selection of beer and wines and the staff are lovely - attentive but not too over bearing. I liked the surroundings and especially the little garden out front! Also it was lovely and quiet - I'd recommend it to couples, friends, or large groups like your work crowd or family.

Ate here a few weeks ago in a party of four, chose the restaurant because there were fussy eaters in the party. The food and service were great. Very attentive, nice atmosphere, only down side we were sat beside a large party which drowned out our conversation a small bit. Will definitely be back, might ask to be seated in a quieter area the next time.

Very disappointing, it seems the recession is hitting quality everywhere. Had a meal here recently and was not overly impressed, the steak was fatty, the atmosphere non existent and it still bothers me hugely in this day and age that you have to pay separately for things as basic as potatoes and veg. Skip unless you are not very hungry in the first place.

Ate here about 1 month ago. Had the bacon and cheese cake to start and is was fantastic. Had steak for main course, and while it was a little undercooked it was still fantastic. There was a group of 6 and to tell the truth all the steaks were a little undercooked which was a shame but most still enjoyed it. However 2 of the girls would not touch it as it was not cooked enough. The restaurant then gave both of their entire meals for free and a free bottle of wine for the table. Even with this happening we all agreed we would be back. Its a nice place to eat and staff are really nice!! i really like this place

I was here on Friday night it is a little dated in trems of decor but the food was very good. We had starters of ceasear salad and chowder which were both very good. We both had steak which were cooked exactly as ordered and were excellent with a good size serving of mash and chips. We were late coming in so the value menu was the only cheaper option which meant desert of which I am not really a fan but they were good. Wine was expensive with house starting at €23. We had a malbec for €26 which I have bought in a wine shop for €10 (so that hurts a little!) Staff were friendly and for a busy night all ran smoothly Overall I would come again but in truth I would rather the setting of the resturant in Monkstown

My cousin suggested this restaurant for lunch today and have to say I was not disappointed, at all. We were 4 for lunch and decided to go for the 2 courses. Everything was beautifully served and the steaks done to our request. Staff was polite and atentive. Of course that the 2 bottles of wine and the expressos made the bill dearer but it was worth it. Will go back in the future, although this time I know that I will have to fast for a week before getting one of those steaks inside.

We went there with few friends and managed to get a table on the room upstairs. Most of us ordered steak. I went of the dry aged rib eye, which was excellent although maybe slightly too crunchy on the outside. One of our fellow diner was brave enough to go for the t-bone. You will be surprised by the size of it:a real challenge for meat-eater and served on a big wooden board filled up with side dishes too. The dessert of the day, a almond and blueberries tart, was smooth on the palate and tasty on the heart. Only note, the service was quite slow and the bill didn't come cheap although we only ordered 2 bottles of wine and tap water.

it was a friend's birthday on saturday so a group of 10 of us decided to come here for his birthday dinner and i think we were all very impressed. the staff were just brilliant at hiding the birthday boys presents and bringing them out at the right time. didn't have to ask for water once during the night - jugs were continuously refilled. as we were going out after the dinner we didn't have much in the way of food - the 9 others just got a main course - nearly everyone got steak and they all said it was the nicest steak they'd had in a long time - i tasted some too and it was yum!! i just got a starter - chowder - really big portion - very nice. the bill came to nearly €600 - about half of that was on drink - we had a least 10 bottles of wine between us. a birthday cake had been dropped in during the day and the staff were very good at bringing it out just when it was needed with candles lighting - the birthday boy was delighted with it. we didn't actually eat any of the cake - we left it for the staff to have if they wanted it. a very enjoyable night and i think we'd all go again!

Popped for the early bird. Excellent value! 19.95 for two courses! I started with the Chicken Liver Pate, followed by the Rib Eye Steak. The steak in particular was really excellent - one of the nicest I've had in years! The service was faultless. I will definitely be going back. I'll have the steak again, but I might skip the starter and have the dessert instead so that I'm not too full to enjoy it....

I visited here with a group on Friday night - it was absolutely fantastic. I had the scallops with the chorizo to start which were mouth watering followed by the fillet steak – cooked to perfection (my taste exactly) served with veg including mushrooms and onions. I thought the choice of desserts were a bit slim but I was so full after my main course that it didn’t really matter. I had white wine (I know that’s a sin with steak) but I loved it! The service was good but sometimes they forgot about us and I had to ask for water a few times. Overall it was a great night and a gorgeous meal.

came here on monday night with group of 12. was actually busy enough. room is nice. value menu that was on was quite reasonable. had the cheese and bacon cake with mustard sauce for starter, which was a bit bland. also tried onion soup which was ok but surprisingly didnt come with traditional cheese crouton garnish. breads were nice particularly the fennel seed bread. had the special of john dory for main which was very much overcooked and dry but came with interesting warm pepper and potato salad. dessert was rhubarb and ginger mouse which tasted mostly of cream. hard to rate service when your in large group but it seemed like they were a staff member short as there was also another large group and some individual tables and there were excessively large gaps between courses.

When one goes to FXB, one knows its not going to be the cheapest meal and hence, I think it's worth the value!! Went for a meal and ended up eating LOADS! The food was excellent- we had a sirloin steak, a ham hock and scallops amongst us- all dishes were beautifully done and the portions were excellent. We really had to make space for dessert- I recommend the sticky toffee pudding- beautifully done- perfectly moist, with icecream and butterscotch sauce. The service was impeccable- we had 2 servers who were very attentive, very good at what they did and extremely good at making small talk yet knowing when to give you space. All in all, an excellent experience- even as non-meat-eater, I would go back, if only for a glass of wine and dessert and some more of those amazing scallops!

Ate here on Friday with 2 friends. when we went in place was busy and the waiter told us our table was upstairs. This was alot less impressive. very little atmosphere, really had a feeling of an 'overflow' room. ordered the prawns to start which were lovely. my friend hd the bacon and cheese starter which was in all our opinions were not nice. and overcooked. had 2 fillet steaks and Seabass for mains. all of which were lovely, however were let down by the sides mash was like had been reheated in microwave and the veg and potatoes with seabass werent nice. Didnt have any dessert, wasnt a massive selection. Servie was fine. But cant really see me going back, but ifi do I will makesure it is in main dining area and not upstairs in 'the spare room'

I had been looking forward to trying the FXB brand as had heard very positive things about their steak! Went for the early bird option two weeks ago as we were going to a gig after so were in a little bit of rush and wouldn't have been able to enjoy the full choices of the a la carte. Food was decent without being brilliant Starters weere mussels and pate which were very good. I had rib-eye and she was fillet medallions for mains. Mine was only ok, she seemed happier though in fairness. All in all think I would come back and give the full menu a go. one little irritant though...we were almost the first in the restuarant and the maitre d'ai tried to sit us in a little cubby hole beside the till (imo the worst seat in the house) to keep the better seats free for when it got busier. Restaurants need to value the custom they have not the custom they hope will arrive later in the night.

My fiancee took me here last Friday night as a surprise and it really was. We had not eaten here before but i had heard good things and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere was lovely, it was warm and the lights were dim so it felt very romantic we thought. We were lucky enough to get a table in the corner so that was nice too. For starter I had the Prawns and they were fab, my fiancee had the seared scallops and this was fab too, really could not fault it, For mains we both ordered T bone steak and it was amazing but it was huge I guess we will know for next time.. :) This came with chips, mashed potato and onion rings. Truely fab. The staff were great and nothing seemed like too much. All in all we left there very satisfied and happy, We were not rushed or anything and the restaurant was extremely busy as well. Our bill came to 93 before we had any drinks but considering the food we were served it was worth every penny, Will def go back - looking forward to it already.. But next time i am sure i would choose a smaller piece of meat..

Went here with my girlfriend and we got the €75 special offer which got us a three course meal from a set menu each and a bottle of wine. Waiter said the deal expired at end of January but had no problem extending it to us. The starters we got were delicious, chicken & veg soup and mussells. Choice of starters was a little limited. There were loads of options for the main course. We both went for steaks for the main course rib eye and sirloin (both 10 oz). They were cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. There were only four options for desert, two of which were, selection of cheeses and ice cream which in my opinion doesn't really count. We got the other two, red berry trifle and sticky toffee pudding. Both amazing. All in all we were both really impressed with the meal. Seriously good value for money for the quality of food. The service was extremely good too.

my boyfriend and i went there last night and had the Value Menu - three courses for two people and a botlte of wine for €75! I would totally recommend it as there was a good selcetion to choose from for each course and we had the Cabernet Sauvignon which tasted lovely and fruity. The only downfall was that it was very quiet so we were very aware that we were the loudest pople there.

We really enjoyed our meal here, and have been several times. The staff are extremely friendly and professional. The steaks are always fantastic. The starters were slightly disappointing.. I had the whitebait which was nice, but there was at least a main course portion which kind of put me off, even my boyfriend couldn't finish what i had left!! He had the mussels, which were nice, but some were quite large and a bit rubbery.. however, other than that, it was delicious as always and we will be going back.

Went here last night with some work colleagues. There were 14 of us and we were seated in a very private section of the restaurant upstairs, there was a sofa and also an outside space for smokers, it was a brilliant table and we had complete privacy. The waiting staff were excellent and even though we were a big number there was no issue with any of the orders. All food came efficiently and we all had food at the same time (sometimes a problem with big groups). I had the pate to start, only criticism would be there wasn’t enough toast, however there was bread still on the table. I had the fillet steak for main – melt in the mouth, delicious!! We had the Christmas menu which was great vale at €39.95 per head. House wine was good and very reasonably priced. Most enjoyable night had by all!

Having visited FXB in Crow st several times and a customer of the butcher's, I was eagerly anticipating a visit to the Pembroke street restaurant. We ate off the €30 value menu, which seems to have slightly more choice than the same menu in Temple bar. The food was top notch as usual, and the service staff although having had a rough shift catering to what seemed to be a restaurant of very merry customers were extremely professional and went beyond the call of duty arranging transport home. Safe bet for excellent steak and seafood.

Massively dissapointing. Reserved a table for 7 people about two weeks prior to meal but still had to wait over an hour for our table. Unhelpful and seemingly incompetent staff did nothing to resolve the problem. Had mussels for starters which were not cooked, not cleaned and majority unopen. Main courses were enjoyed by all which remained its only redeeming feature. Will not return and would not recommend to anyone. Overall, there are nicer restaurants!

I had the value menu, at 30 euro, which I thought was a little steep at first. However given the choice of starters and mains, and the price of those dishes on the a la carte menu, it was an absolute bargain! Half the mains are 25 euro alone, so an extra fiver for starter and dessert, well need I say anymore. My steak was gigantic, as was everybody else's. We wanted to bring the left-overs home for my 2 dachshunds, which the waiter was a bit snooty at, which I really didn't appreciate. Quality of food was very good. Would def go back when/if I have the money to treat myself!

Excellent Food & Excellent Service - what more can you ask for? Will be back again and again for more. Only thing they could improve on is the choice of deserts - this is not a criticism but a mere suggestion. Plate licking good food and waiters with a sense of humour :)

I've been to FXBs in Monkstown and loved it, so I was really hoping the restaurant in town would be as nice. In fact FXBs pembroke st was better then anticipated. The scallop starter was large enough to share between myself adn my hungry boyf. We both went for fillet steaks - rare- and our waiter recommended a beautiful, and inexpensive, bottle of Malbec. The meal was divine, We shared a chocolate tart for dessert. I couldnt fault a single thing in the meal- it was fabulous. Definitely one to re-visit.

Went here for the other halfs birthday, he being a steak worshiper and me a lapsed vegetarian only beginning to try fish, this was his treat. We both went for the €30 menu option that came with a bottle of vino - he went for the whopping big steak and I went for the seabass. I couldn't fault any of it, the portions were very generous so much so that I couldnt finish mine and we had to share a dessert rather than have one each. But I would not deem that a complaint! We will definitely be back and would strongly recommend to a friend.

Early bird menu was our choice - Mussels good, could have done with more garlic in sauce/juice. Chicken pate delicious with the toatsed white tomato? bread and onion jam. Ham hock in cider - falling off the bone, just right. Would have liked bit more mustard mash. And some vegetables (why do we have to pay extra for vegetables?). Ratio of mash to meat on plate meant mash ran out before meat did. The brother went for the chicken, bit disappointed - chicken tasted a 'bit old' (chewy and not great flavour). South African Shiraz was very nice (50cl for €12.95). Dessert of day was bluberry semi fredo - very good, not too sweet, the way I like it and with whole bluberry sauce too. Coffee very bitter. Waiters very attentive, attractive and served us well. We'll be back. PS loos had 2 types of loo roll to choose from!

I couldn't have picked a better venue for a night out.The service was fantastic and the food was nothing short of amazingly delicious. We started with the ceaser salads which I normally never eat but these were quite tasty. From this,we had the fillet steaks well done. It's an unusual thing to actually get a steak cooked perfect but FXB done just that. I can honestly say that I've never had steak of the quality that we had here. The wine list is simple but full of good wines that won't break the bank. Overall, I was really impressed and it's one that I'll frequent again.

I couldn't think of a better restaurant to go to than FXB's on Pembroke Street. I am a regular visitor to the steak house, but this is my first review for the restaurant. The warm and genuine welcoming when we arrive invites us into this little Irish gem. Although the decor may not seem like modern perfection, it suits the autheticity of the Buckley restaurant. FXB's run a 'value' menu all night, every night. WOW! What is to complain about? €30 for a 3 course meal - no catch! NO SUPPLEMENTS!! And the choices on the menu are outstanding, not the cheapest ugliest dishes from the A La Carte like other restaurants, but a superb selection of fine cuisine. To start I had the forest mushroom brushetta, which i find to be so morish, and my boyfriend had the mussels. I am not a seafood fan, but I could eat the mussels every day. You can't go to FXB's without eating a succulant steak cooked to your perfection. The steak could not be fresher, coming straight from FXB's farm in County Offaly to your plate. The side orders are fantastic - definately go for their home cut fries and a selection of market veg. To finish, we shared a creme brule and a panna cotta (the panna cotta being the special of the day). Overall the meal was fantastic, I could never fault the guys that work on the floor and hats off to the chefs in the kitchen. All in all, we both had a 3 course meal, coffee and a bottle of wine for about €90 - incredible value!!!

I had dinner here on Saturday night as part of a group of 12. The restaurant was very accommodating as we had changed our number twice during the day! The food was very good, plenty of bread on the tables, which was great as I had mussels to start! These were well cooked, soft and tasty! They have an extensive array of steaks on the menu as you would expect, and none of these disappointed. I opted for a one of the daily specials, which was a sirloin steak with deep fried aubergine rings. I like my steak rare, and it came as order, the meat was tender and cooked perfectly. One of our group ordered the T-bone steak which was served with a number of trimmings on a wooden board. It was an impressive sight, although he said that the fillet side of the t-bone was on the small side. You can request any size steak, and the base price is loaded accordingly, so the meat must be freshly cut, and not frozen portions! We had a few drinks and coffee to finish, and there was no rush on us leaving, even though it was busy. The food off the main menu here is very good, but be warned it is not cheap!!! The early bird set menu, which serves up to the 7.30pm is good value though.

Pleasantly surprised!! I have never eaten in any of the FXB group before but i definitely will again. I went last weekend with my girlfriend and although slightly bright the restaurant was inviting. The beauty about it is that even if it is a quiet evening the place still looks busy. We were greeted and seated and shown the value menu and the a la carte. I am not one to typically go for value menus as i never seem to like what is offered, as it is usually fish and chicken. Here was different, i actually chose all three courses from the Value Menu. I told Karen to go all out, which she did her Value menu was strewn to the side. I had the chicken liver and pistachio pate to start which was delicious. Perfect size served in an espresso cup with warm bread and a fig relish. The pistachio gave that little bite to the pate and the fig was the cou de gras. Karen had the prawns in garlic, i had a few. Savage!! big Dublin Bay Prawns in a small pan with sizzling garlic butter. I then had the steak, rib eye, Karen had the Fillet. Both cooked to perfection and as described. Served with the little jugs of required sauce and the best home made chips i have had in a long time. not the usual big Pont Neufesque potatoes, these were wide but thin, easy to bite into with an autumn golden skin. We had the creme brulee and the chocolate tart for dessert. I judge a restaurant buy the grade of creme brulee, a recent trip to kilkenny nearly put me off but this revived my desire. It was perfect, and i have had my fair share to know. The chocolate tart was warm and light, the little crust on the edge gave the little bite to it. Otherwise it just melted in your mouth. Then we indulged some more with a cheese plate. It was Irish, it was fresh, it was large, it was delicious, i even ate the cashel blue which i dont usually care for. The chefs know what they are doing, the waiters too, they know how to serve, they know how to describe and advise on the menu, they were Irish. Go Figure!

Overall disappointed. Myself and my husband came here last night for a meal. We had a booked a table but they didnt seem to have our booking when we arrived. Anway we got a table but a few things were amiss. Firstly the service although very friendly was very slow. I had to ask several times for water for the table. In fairness to the staff they didnt seem to have enough waiters to cover the floor. I was also disappointed with the steak. I paid 36 euro for an 8 oz fillet and it was completely overcooked. I ate it anyway as it was delicious meat but I would have preferred to get the steak how I ordered it. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly so at least their was one happy diner. Im not sure if I would go back......

Always enjoyed Fx B's. Staff very pleasant and efficient. Unfort two of the steaks were very raw and could not be eaten so were sent back. My sister and her husband were heading to a concert and had come up from Cork so delighted to eat there. Was disappointed as only got the steaks recooked at 735pm and they had to rush for concert. We were in restaurant since 610pm. Had organised dessert for birthday person but did not evolve as they had to leave. Overall very disappointed with food.

I had heard a lot about FXB over the last few years, but never got around to going until last Saturday. It had been built up for me and I wasn't disappointed. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and, inside, there is a warm and cosy, atmosphere. The staff are lovely, very helpful and extremely well mannered. We both had fantastic steaks and took advantage of the wine special: 25% off any bottle over €30. We had Mad Fish, which complimented the meal very well. Afterwards, we sat outside and had Amarettos to finish off the night. A superb restaurant, great value, excellent food, excellent staff; we will definitely go back.

Went for the early bird menu on Saturday night. Excellent value. When in a steak restaurant you have to have steak and this didn't disappoint! The pepper sauce is just right too - not like some of the vaugely seasoned cream that you get elsewhere. Staff were pleasant, friendly and efficient and had no problem with a few swaps to the menu (different style spuds but no extra charge). Place wasn't full when we arrived but soon filled up. Loved the seats at the back with the big cushions. Will be back.

I'll admit that I'm not a huge meat fan but the sirloin steak that I ate here last night was faultless. Seven out of our eight people all ordered steak and we totally devoured them. I has the chocolate torte for dessert which was heaven but was disappointed by the pistachio ice-cream that accompanied it as were a few others. The service was friendly and super efficent and for a Monday night, the restaurant was nearly full and the atmosphere jolly.

We tried your recommended MENUPAGES JUNE Special Offers, and had a Saturday evening EarlyBird, 2 courses@19.95 euro each. I had hock of bacon and she had Rib Eye steak - both were delicious! For dessert she had a plate of cream brulee, and I had a plate of homemade icecreams with shortbreads - both were delicious! Total bill was: 2@19.95 = 39.90 One glass of Olvena Red = 5.95 OVERALL TOTAL 45.85 EURO Highly Recommended!

I was here with a group of friends for the early bird. It was empty at half 6 but more diners soon arrived. The food was delicious - I had mussels to start and rib eye steak for my main. I was too full for dessert but had a cappacino. The bill for 2 courses each, 4 bottle wine plus teas/ coffees came to EUR300 approx. (8 people). The early bird is great value with 2 courses for 19.95. The waiters were very attentive and friendly. I will definitely go back!!

Went here with a friend for the early bird, and while it was quite quiet at the start, the atmosphere soon got a bit better. I can't fault the food; my starter was a decent ceaser salad, while my friend had some pate which was very tasty. The bread on the side had some mint in it, which was interesting. For mains I had the rib eye steak which is always a winner, while my friend had the medallion of beef, which she enjoyed. Since we were full we gave dessert a miss, but all in all it was great value for money at 51euro, given that we had a glass of Argentinean wine each with the meal.

Opting to try this restaurant as part of the Dine in Dublin week offer, we booked for 7pm. Arriving the restaurant was quiet this was not the case as we were leaving. 3 courses for 29.95 was great value given the choices available. Approx 7/8 starters and the same choice for mains including Rib eye, Sirloin and Beef Fillet Medallions. Desserts with 3 options were maybe a little limited but by that stage we were more than full. Starters were both good. The mains of rib eye steak and beef medallions both cooked to perfection were gorgeous. Onion rings were homemade and crispy. The restaurant does get quite warm as it starts to fill. Service is friendly and attentive. Worth a try. Then even have a rescession busting steak for €16 Mon - Thur. Hopefully it is some of their high quality meat also.

I ate in the restaurant on Friday 23rd and felt it was ok - My ribeye steak was good but my partners fillet was a little on the tough side. Chips were slightly burnt and it is expensive for the food you get .

I booked the restaurant for a large family gathering there were approx 30 of us...adults and children. We had the private room upstairs which was perfect, there was a great area for people to smoke as they didnt have to leave the party. Staff were amazing and really helpful. earlybird menu is a great price at €23.99 for 3 courses. Highly reccommended!

Went there for Christmas lunch and thought it was a good choice. Good atmosphere, good food and good service. The starters were lovely and so were the main courses. I had smoked salmon to start with and it was very tasty. For the main I has stuffed chicken and it was nice, but a bit dry. Genereous portion, ordered dessert, but could not eat as was soo full. Great wine selection and attentive service.

I ahve just eaten here at lunch time, had their special 3 course menu, which included a 10oz rib eye steak or 8 oz sirloin steak, great value at 29.95. I chose rib eye and the steak was melt in your mouth and cooked to perfection. Would highly recomment this restaurant. Only negative was service was a little slow, took 3 hours in total, so in a rush to get back to work after it.

I was there with my family for my graduation dinner... the staff was really friendly and helpful. the meal was delish as always (I been there few times before) the stake was to die for as always. my mom had pork chop and she said it was very tasty and juicy... salmon was very tasty too. only pity was with the chips, they were bit salty for some reason... well we had 5 portions of chips on the table but only 2 of them were extremely salty the others were bearable salty... desert was ok. not too impressed with the bread and butter, but the mouse cake and pear icecream was yum! will definitely go back there again over xmas!!! its a great spot overall.

I went to FXB's on Saturday evening with my hubbie, I have been to FXB's lots of timesin the past, but it is about 3 years since I was last in the Pembroke restuarant and I could't believe how shabby it had gone. I was sitting on the couch at the back of the restaurant and it was all ripped and the springs were gone in it. When I made the reservation I was told about the all day value menu for 29.95 for 3 courses which I thought was great value but this was not given to us on arrival to the restaurant until I asked what are the choice restrictions on the A La Carte menu. Overall the food was good and the waitress was pleasant but the premises badly needs a facelift, they no longer put a tablecloth on the table, the toilets were grubby and shabby.

I had Peppered Calamari that was tough and forgettable. My partners Ham Hock terrine was not edible in either of our opinions. We both had Fillet steak which was OK but the Fries were full of salt. I had the cheeseborad and it was well below par. I will not be back.

Booked for quick lunch today. We the hot roast beef sandwich & roasted med veg ciabatta. If you want a small plate of food this isn't the place to go. The roast beef was rare and tender served genuine hand-cut chips. The med veg was freshly made. All tasted superb. The place was full by 13:00 always a good sign. Will definately be going back again & again. PS if you are dining proper order the Byerskloof Pinotage 2004 for €25.00 a superb wine & great value.

Got a voucher off a friend for here. Not a place I would normally even think of going to because I'm vegetarian. However, having sampled the wild mushroom tart with colcannon and cabbage, I would definitely go back. The food was gorgeous and the staff were very friendly. The restaurant also has a great atmostphere.

Have been here maybe half a dozen times and I’m afraid it has gotten progressively worse. I was there over the weekend with my girlfriend and we won't be going back. This place is living off its reputation as a great steakhouse when in fact there are now many other restaurants in Dublin where you can get a better steak. We both ordered the ribeye, one medium rare, the other medium well. They were both cooked medium rare. The quality of the meat was nothing special and they weren't seasoned at all as far as I could see. We both opted for pepper sauce and received a very watery gravy like substance that was way too peppery to enjoy. The service was also terrible, the first time I’ve felt it was bad here in fairness. Our waiter would just drop our plates in front of us and then when we were finished he’d just arrive and take our plates away without saying a word. He acted like he was run off his feet and had no time for us and although the place was full he clearly wasn’t run off his feet. I’m sorry to see that this place’s standards have dropped over the years but these guys will only get away with living off their name for so long!

Just strange. I had a business lunch here ... I was going to go elsewhere but my partner said let's give a chance FXB. I said yes after good experience with Temple Bar Fxb but it was just strange. The place was almost empty. Just few tables in. The outside of the restaurant just looks strange and i think little bit dirty. Anyway ... The food: I didn't go for a steak, i choose Prawns for a starter which were served in the hot pan and i say that they were a bit undercooked and tasteless, for my main i had salmon and here no comment just completely overcooked probably even not seared in the pan piece of fish on the top of some green beans and potatoes. Also what was strange that i saw scallops served with the orange tail on it ... just strange ...

Went for dinner in the FXB Restaurant (Pembroke Street)on Saturday last and was very disappointed by the food. I ordered scallops for starters and had to send the dish back as it had not been cooked and the scallops were cold the whole way through. My girlfriend ordered the goats cheese for starters which was fine but less than exciting. The steaks for the main course were ok but mine was overcooked. We will not be going back

Went here for my birthday and absolutely loved it. The steaks are incredible, the service excellent and the atmosphere very relaxing. The bill came to about €110 for two with starter, main course and drinks. Not cheap but definitely worth the money. Have been back again since and will certainly keep going back. Excellent restaurant.

Having eaten in the Bull & Castle and having a bad experience, I was slightly apprehensive about trying the Pembroke Street restaurant. Fortunately, this was nothing like FXB's at the Bull & Castle. Although the mussels to start were slightly overcooked, the scallops with black pudding was perfect, as were both fillet steaks which were cooked perfectly. The market veg was disappointing and more like baby food than a side to be served with steak but the chips made up for that. The service was average, especially as it was a Tuesday night and not exactly heaving. I would definitely go back tho', if only to try each of the starters as it was so difficult to choose this time around.

Nice and cozy place, the food was great. King’s scallops really tasteful, as the fillet for main course, cooked to our liking. For the price, they could easily include some vegs with the meat and (small amount of) mash potato. Food and service were good although very pricey.

Went here to try the steak really and wasn't disappointed. Perfectly cooked, just the right amount and sides of chips and mash were perfect as well. You're paying a bit alright but you don't mind that when it's done well. Atmosphere lovely as well. Two of us had 2 steaks, shared starter of calamari, bottle of wine and coffees for about 90euro.

I was here on Saturday with a group of seven. Food was delicious, service was good only fault I would have is that it is quite pricey for what you actually get. I had lamb and portion size was quite small. Also certain main courses did not include side orders, which I think is a bit ridiculous when the price of steak dishes range from €24 to €38. But overall a good night had by all and I would go back.

Went there on Saturday with a Party of 10 and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our steaks. Service was excellent. All the wine drinkers enjoyed their choice. Only fault was with their draught beer and draught stout, not the best, would stick with the bottled beers. I'm definitely going back again!

Brought Mr FishFinger here for his birthday last wednesday. We like to try new places but this is a firm favourite we return to for special occasions. Shared the calamari starter then rib eye for me & sirloin for the birthday boy. Yummy as ever. Service good but a bit slow. Also their choice of draught beer was not on so stuck with overpriced bottled options. Still be back for the food :-)

Had a very enjoyable evening at FXB's on Friday night. I was part of a group of nine people and they catered for us very well. Steaks were had by most - both the fillet and sirloin - and there was satisfaction all round. Service efficient and friendly. A bit more expensive than the other FXB restaurant I have visited in the Bull and Castle but it was worth it due to standard of food and service.

I reserved a table for 3 people, but when we arrived we were not on the list & were offered a small 2 person table straight away or a bigger table in 15 minutes. As it was a treat for my parents, I asked to wait for a proper table (as reserved). After 15 minutes we were given the same small 2 person table, placed somewhere else. There were other places in the restaurant, or other small tables that could've been added but no, this is what we were given. The food was good, nothing amazing, although my parents who are hard to please enjoyed it (even though our steaks weren't quite cooked how we asked). I wouldn't come back here. It's small and pokey, the service was pleasant when seated but otherwise, all smiles and no service. The sides are waaay overpriced, so are the steaks come to think of it.

Outstanding restaurant. The best steak in Dublin. Service is a small bit slow and the restaurant itself is fairly snug but it's well worth the visit for the food. I really love this restaurant for both special occasions and a weekend here and there. Definitely check this out.

We went here for a family dinner, after hearing many good reports, and we were all thorougly impressed! The place, the service and the food were all faultless. Had the baked goats cheese to start, this was really nice, but was pretty heavy for a starter, so could only manage half of it, so id be able for mains! The steak is just to die for, with a good variety of sauces and sides to go with it. I will def be returning here!!

Ate here on Saturday night and would highly recommend. Originally had booked a table for 6, but had to ring at very late notice on Saturday to see could the restaurant accomodate an additional 4. Was told that there had just been a cancellation, but that the party of 4 would be seated seperately, that was fine as we had given them very little notice. When we arrived we were told that they had done some rearranging and that the 10 of us were seated together, very much appreciated given the late notice and the fact it was saturday night. The food itself could not be faulted. Most of our party opted for steaks and all left very happy. Will be visiting again!

I organised my work Christmas party and picked this restaurant. I have nothing but the highest of praise for this restaurant. Great Steaks, great service and a great atmosphere. They easily catered for our group of 27. Highly recommed the crab claws, steak and creme brulee. Fantastic.

Ate here last night for New Years Eve, food was lovely - steaks were delicious as expected. My only disappointment was the lack of ordinary veg as part of the side orders. I prefer cauliflower, carrots, broccoli rather than spinach etc. Atmosphere was ok but no buzz really. Music was too muted. Otherwise, a pleasant experience. Might try the early bird next time.

Was here with a large group so we had all of upstairs to ourselves which was nice but found the service somewhat lacking. Having been a waitress myself once upon a time I know serving large groups can be stressful but found some of the staff very disinterested and others downright rude. Goes to show when service is already included in the price! Food and wine were good though but from reading the other reviews I expected more

Even if a bit expensive I agree that the Steaks here are great. I am from Florence, the place where the giant T-bone "Fiorentina" Steak was invented, and I have to say that I was really impressed by my main course. The calamari for starter were good as well, but going back ( as I will ) I will skip the starter and focus only on a bigger steak! Good choice of wine and good service.

Don't know what to think. Service can vary from start of the night to finish. Going hot and cold. The steaks are very good but I think this is about the only thing. The rest would be classified as average (starters and sweets).

Although the starters did appear to be disappointing, this place is famous for its steaks - and for good reason. Each dish at our table was met with approval. A little on the expensive side, but the food is lovely and you certainly won't leave hungry!!

Wasn't what I had expected when we walked in first, quite a small dining are but the food & service are 5 star. I started with soup of the day, celeriac soup, absolutely fabulous. My boyfrind had the mussels which were divine. I then had the monkfish which was the def the best monkfish I've ever eaten in Ireland. My boyfriend had one of their signature steaks which he said was fabulous. Great service throughout the night. Will def return.

I went to this restaurant for a family event, my inital reaction was the decor is a bit outdated and the atmosphere is a bit dull. However once the night went on and the food started to be served my opinion changed. The 7 of us had steak, they have a huge amount of different types to choose from on its menu. The steak itself was so succulent, probably the best I have ever had, the side orders were perfect and they had a great selection of wine also. This place can be quiet pricey if going for dinner, the early bird however is a lot more reasonable. Overall though, a great dining experience.

This is the first time I have ever given 5 stars across the board, but without a doubt FXB deserves it. I dined in FXB on a Thursday evening with a group from work (15 to be exact) and all I can say is there wasn’t one complaint. The service was impeccable; the food divine and the atmosphere... Well we made our own. Without a doubt, worth a visit.

We ate here on Friday night the restaurant was really busy and the manager was very attentive and helpful with out choices, I had a cured meat starter which was delicious followed by the monkfish special with spinach that was a little undercooked for my taste and mash potato with sun dried tomatoes. They have a good wine and beer selection but a really disappointing desert menu with only four choices. Others in my party had the mixed grill and steaks which were fantastic so if your looking for a good steak FXB’s is the place to go….

Went here last Saturday night and overall had a great dining experience. Firstly, the good points: The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and the food was fantastic, I had sea bass but those with me who had steak really enjoyed it. The not so good points: Some of the starters were a little overpriced in comparison to the rest of the menu i.e. €14.50 for 3 scallops, the atmosphere wasn't great, it looked a bit like a hotel dining room and there was one picture on the wall that caught all of our attention (I'm not a prude but it was a bit gross and didn't fit in with the design of the rest of the restaurant). Finally, we were given the wrong bill. It was actually less than what we had spent so if it wasn't for our honesty another table could have been landed with our much heftier bill. They were very nice about it though and very apologetic. If I were to return here it would be for the early bird menu because the food is great but the atmosphere is a bit dreary and the a la carte prices are a little too steep for what you get.

Mixed feelings about this FXBs. I find that the service and atmosphere can vary hugely from night to night. The food is good but, personally, I don't think it lives up to the hype. I'm a huge steak fan but find it difficult to have my meal cooked to my liking here. The sides are also disappointing. On Saturday nights, the clientele seems to be made up mainly of couples over 40 so the dining room can be a bit dour. Would choose the Temple Bar FXBs over this one any day.

We had a great meal last saturday night at FXB Pembroke St. Service was excellent, food really tasty and expertly cooked, the manager was really a great host and made you forget that you were dining in a chain of restaurants. First time in a long time that you got great service and food in the one place!

My husband and I ate here recently after hearing so many good reviews. It was my birthday so I ordered a Bellini Champagne Cocktail to start - when it arrived it wasn't quite as large as I was hoping for and the 'champagne' was flat. I would have thought that at €9.50 a glass (very small glass) I'd have been enjoying peachy flavoured bubbles up my nose, but it wasn't to be. We ordered the Bacon Cakes which were served with a Carrot and Coriander puree, couldn't really taste the bacon, but they were ok. I ordered the fillet with the surf 'n' turf option but was a little disappointed with the prawns which arrived on a skewer - they were quite rubbery and tasteless. The steak, however, was delicious and cooked perfectly. My husband had the T-Bone which, so he told me, was also very good. We had to order mushrooms and onions as extras and I also ordered the 'Organic Market Vegetables' - I was expecting a selection of maybe carrots, cauliflower, swede or broccoli, something like that. Imagine my surprise when the waiter put a dish on the table announcing the arrival of my 'Organic Market Vegetables' - only to be faced with a dish of the same pureed Carrot and Coriander mush that had been served with the starter! Now that was a bit of a let down. I had the sautéed potatoes with my steak and my husband had the chips - mine were lovely, and I thought the chunky chips were quite nice although the hubby wasn't keen on them. Overall, the delicious steaks saved the day, but I thought it quite overpriced for what we had, we won't be eating there again unless it's to sample the early bird.

Had a lovely meal here on Saturday evening. My steak was cooked to perfection and the sauce was gorgeous. For dessert I asked for the crumble - it was arranged quite oddly, still it tasted lovely. Experience could be improved by taking my coat instead of leaving me to drape it over my chair and some more variety in the vegetable selection.

This restaurant has a very good value Early Bird menu at €20 for two courses. Mussels are included as a starter on this menu and were very good. I had the goat’s cheese and vegetable tartlets for main course and they were delicious. The rest of my party got steak, which went down very well, and pork, which came in a huge portion. My dessert was a lemon crème brulee. There didn't seem to be much taste of lemon but it was still good and the berries served with it seemed fresh and tasty. Overall good food at a reasonable price and very friendly staff.

Their early bird is the best value in town for a group. If you have to organise a work night out or other group event, I would recommend here. Their early bird menu is €18 for 2 courses and you will not need a third course. Wide-ranging menu (not just steak) and the meat is good quality. Great place to bring your parents, as they won't be giving out about the portion sizes.

Fantastic restaurant. Went as a group from work, everyone loved their 3 courses, not one complaint, I had the Caesar salad, 8 ounce fillet steak and granola and mascarpone dessert, all superb. The atmosphere was nice and chilled, we had the comfy seating area upstairs with the nice balcony for the smokers attached. The prices weren’t too bad either. Ideal for work groups, couldn’t have asked for more, the service was superb.

Awful food, 'bacon cakes' for starters with no taste of bacon, both steaks were no where near good quality, mine was drowned in 'red wine jus' which was more like some sort of weird, very thick gravy, and my partner's opted for peppercorn sauce on his 8oz fillet which was more like 6oz and I could swear it is out of a packet of some sort. All I wanted was a nice piece of steak, and for a place renowned for it I thought it would be a safe bet. Obviously not.

I recently organised a work night at this restaurant. We all had a brilliant time, definitely order the Pinot Grigio (the only one they have, it is superb, I think we drank them dry). Service was excellent, upstairs for a big group is great. All good, food, atmosphere and patience of staff super. We will go again.

What can I say, I ate in FXB on Pembroke St on Saturday night & I have never ever experienced anything of the like. The place was packed and the atmosphere was electric. My wife and I can only say that there seems to be few if any places in Dublin that still put the customers first, and can back this up with a simple and true tasting food offering done to perfection. This may be a long established eatery, but it holds itself as the best steak house in town, with a wine list that shows an understanding of the complexities of getting fine wines to work with food, unlike some other restaurants of fame. The staff were educated on every aspect of the food; my wife had dressed crab for starter and char grilled tuna for her main course, both of which she thoroughly enjoyed. My fillet was done to perfection, and served with a wickedly delicious béarnaise sauce and mashed potato. If you are looking for a good night out I would recommend that you give this one a try.

I went here with my boyfriend last minute after a ridiculous situation in a restaurant across the road. The food was out of this world, I had the mussels, steak and we shared a cheese board afterwards, it was divine. The homemade bread they brought out at the start of the meal was warm and crispy, a small touch but so good! I couldn't get over how good the service was, so professional, I had been expecting a themed restaurant!

Possibly the best steak I've ever had in Dublin. Was here as part of a group and the service was good, there was no excessive waiting or lack of attention. Food was delivered as ordered and was very tasty! It was a celebration dinner and everyone was well fed and happy by the end of it. The menu is a mix of seafood and meat cuts that are well proportioned and presented. Highly recommended.

I brought my father here on father’s day last year and had a very disappointing experience. I was actually very angry. He loves a plain steak with chips and peas, no sauces or garnishing which is why I brought him to Dublin’s most famous steak house. Our waitress scoffed at him for requesting it plain, then they couldn't give him peas they were out so he had just chips. His steak was very overdone and dry and he wouldn't send it back. I couldn't get mushrooms with mine as again they were out, bear in mind this was father’s day and they had opened at 5, we got there at 5.30?? How they had already run out of food is beyond me. The manager came out to talk to friends at the table next to us and sat on a table and cursed his head off as if sitting around a kitchen table with friends. The whole experience was a major let down and the staff were very unprofessional. I won't be going back again.

Visited FXB 's for a work dinner. Was very much impressed by the change this restaurant has gone through. Serving excellent quality steaks and a number of other very enticing dishes, the restaurant has a professional and sophisticated edge to it without being stuffy or conservative. A nice relaxed atmosphere and very good value for money also.

Have been to FXB's on Pembroke Street twice now and haven't been let down either time. The first time I went for the steak, which was excellent. The quality of the meat was superb and the cooking was perfect. The second time I went for the chicken and pasta which may seem an unusual choice in a restaurant that is known for its steaks but it was one of the best chicken dishes I've tasted in a long time. Prices were reasonable and service was excellent. Couldn't fault this restaurant and the atmosphere is perfect for a nice relaxing night.

I went to this restaurant with a friend for an early bird on a Friday night, a friendly waitress greeted us and showed us to our table, we ordered a bottle of wine (prices range from 20 - 35 approx) wine was nice and serviced quickly and with a jug of water which I thought was a nice touch because we didn't even have to ask for it! For starter I had the mussels they were tasty, for mains I had the steak, which was cooked as I asked and was delicious!! The desserts where also very tasty!! The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice and busy and the staff were great, I thought the early bird was great value for money, haven't been for the a la carte but I’ll certainly be heading back!
