We decided to drop into Ryans on the way home from Town, without a booking. We were politely told that the table was booked in an hour, which was fine with us, as we just wanted a quick burger. Between this, and the fact that we were offered the Early-Bird offer, despite it being 10 minutes after it finished, we felt very welcome. Our burgers were wholesome and very filling, although our fries were a little cooler than they should have been. Interestingly, Ryans offer a range of O'Hara Irish "craft" beer, and booklets suggesting food / beer pairings are on the tables. If I'd been having a meal before going into Town, rather than coming home, I'd definitely have tried a beer, as I'm curious to see how this food / beer initiative develops.

We were here on a Sunday and there was a great atmosphere as there was the GAA and soccer on TV. The bar men were friendly. We ended up deciding to stay and have Sunday lunch there. There is a proper restaurant upstairs but we decided to have some bar food. I had fish & chips but i asked for it with potato and veg instead which was no problem. My OH had the beef and Guinness pie. Mine was fine, I'm not mad about deep fried fish but i ate around the batter and the sides were nice, tartar and mushie peas. OH really enjoyed his, the beef was excellent and it came in a lovely puff pastry. Reasonable food on a relaxing Sunday.

Went for a group lunch in this popular restaurant over Ryans bar in Parkgate street near Heuston Station. Attractive menu for lunch including the well known Steak Sandwich, BLT, Chicken dishes and a Fish and Chips. Food was pretty basic for the money charged, no garnish with any of the dishes. Everything seems to come with Chips which is grand but would be nice to have a few healthier options as well like salads. Staff friendly though the restaurant upstairs is a bit poky. Many in the group complained that the batter with the fish and chips was very greasy, not sure I d rush back many much nice options avail in the area for around the same money.

Very impressed! I live very close by and went there on a Wednesday night with my boyfriend at around 9pm. We could choose our own table, which was nice. The atmosphere was very relaxed and cosy. We both chose the value menu of 3 courses for €25 and a glass each of Malbec and Rioja, which were spot on. The starter portions were very generous and the dishes really were very tasty. My boyfriend had the Mushroom soup and I opted for the Galway Bay Mussels. They really didn't scrimp on the portion of mussels, there were loads of them! For mains we had Steak and the Haloumi Filo. Both were very good, the only reason why I would take points away from the Steak dish is because there was no garnish of any sort on the plate so it looked a little bland although the flavour really was good and it was cooked just the way we like it. Next time it will be Steak and side-salad thats ordered instead of with chips. On to dessert and to be honest we couldn't eat it we were so full (but we devoured them for lunch the next day..the brownie was excellent!). Our Waitress, who really was so attentive, kindly kept them wrapped in the fridge for us to take away, while we sipped on a Gin & Tonic at the table until we were ready to leave. We were so relaxed and content just to sit there and chat, even though we live so nearby, and our Waitress kindly told us there was no rush whatsoever to leave (it was a Wed night), which was a nice touch. All in all we really had a great dinner and I highly recommend a visit.

2nd visit here and was so disappointed. I did enjoy the pate starter but the sole was dreadful and dried from being over cooked. My husband ordered steak and it was fine, the few mushrooms were 3.50 which is mad and they were reheated shrivelled up and chewy so wont go back now.

i have been eating here for months. bar food and restaurant upstairs. everything is good. some steaks a little pricey though. they have daily specials at the bar. all in all a very good place. bar staff and restaurant staff genuinely friendly. i will be back. my only crib is that they serve streaky bacon instead of back bacon rashers.

I went for a pint here on new years eve and the pint of guinness was second to none so I decided to have a steak and see could the food be as good as the beer, and I was not disappointed. The sirloin was cooked to my liking with hand cut chips which were to die for. Will for definite be back.

Really in need of a Steak on a Thursday night and popped into FXB on our way home. The steaks were scrumptious, service was efficient and the couple of beers were nice too.

Ate in the restaurant - upstairs - and availed of the early bird menu. There were 10 of us and the service, by one waitress only, was very good. I had the strange but tasty soup - cauliflower and blue cheese. Really big helping is my only complaint. The fish was my main, cod sitting on a bed of crushed roasted potatoes with sundried tomatoes through them - bsolutely FAB. I was too full for dessert so 3 of us shared the brownie - the only disappointment of hte meal, not chocolatie enough and way too dry. Overall a really great experience and we will be back.

Already established as one of Dublin's best pubs, Ryan's of Parkgate hit the right note when they decided to team up with FXB's butchers in order to offer its clientele quality meat. Well ahead of most gastropubs, Ryan's has offered top-notch steaks sandwiches, juicy burgers and home-made fries since a few years ago. Surrounded by its uique atmosphere, this is a place to enjoy your fine meat over a glass of stout, etc. Just wish their staff was friendlier.

The FXb Grill at Ryans is warm and friendly restaurant with a good atmosphere. The service I encountered though a little slow was well worth the delicious starter of mussels and main of salmon, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Reasonably priced and excellent quality made for an enjoyable experience that I wish to repeat in the future.

Wanted to go fairly local but get a nice steak too. FXB @ Ryan's is ideal for a quick drink before heading up to "bijou" restaurant. Girlfriend really enjoyed the calamari while I tucked into a medium cooked fillet steak, red wine jus and beautiful homemade chips. No ketchup was needed for the chips as the juices from the sauce & steak were gorgeous enough. Small regret that I didn't get a side dish of mushrooms. Very good steak, value too. Gorgeous Bordeaux wine (a blend of cabernet & merlot) set it all off. Was hoping for a cheeseboard, to no avail. Highly recommended. Return visit is imminent.

My boyfriend and I have become regulars at this place - we love it so much. You are guaranteed a great meal everytime, with very friendly efficient waiting staff. The food is delicious and the new early bird menu is really good value. I had the toad in the hole on this occasion, which was massive and so tastey. I look forward to returning again very soon.

Very nice athmosphere, friendly efficient staff. 2 of us got Early Bird menu - steak and chicken main course - steak was tender but a bit disappointed that some sort of veg was not automatically served with steak order - even a few green beans on the side would have done the trick. As was the case with the chicken. Staff really helpful and attentive to detail. Starters really good. would go back. Nice place to chat and eat.

Took out friends from overseas who had been eating too much fish. Okay so we had prawns & mussles for starters but this is the place to go whenyou want meat. We all had different steaks the rib eye steak to the fillet cooked to perfection and then topped off with chocolate brownies. Food & wine prices were reasonable and the service was great. I will be back for more again & again.

Ryan's is my local and I really didn't feel like cooking last night after a long day so the early bird was the perfect solution! Yummy soup to start and tasty fish for my main. The staff are really friendly and it's lovely to pop downstairs for a nice drink in the bar afterwards! place wasn't packed, but it's jammed at the weekend with locals and it's not hard to see why. the bar menu served in Ryans is also really good. There were a few plates that passed under my nose that I had to put on my 'must try' list for next time!

I was so worried when a few years back Ryans sold as it was a lovely old bar and had good food...well its even better surprisingly. The bar food I believe is also supplied by the restaurant kitchen whioch is FXB. The Dining area is tiny upstairs but it is lovely and really cosy. I could see into the kitchen and was amazed how such a small place could produce such great food. For starter i had goats cheese tart which was nice and main....filet steak, mash and veg and i think onions. It was fantastic and the Meat from FXB is always excellent. There have been promoting a sale on wines and special offers i.e. 20-30 percent off some wines which was great value for a nicer wine you may not have chosen normally. Really attentive service without feeling "hassled". If the restaurant is full try the pub...burgers, sandwiches and some items from the upstairs menu available. My husband thinks its the best burger in town and very filling.

This was our Valentine dinner - we went on the Sun - to avoid the other Valentine couples! We were not disappointed - the food was fab! I thoroughtly enjoyed my bruschetta starter and himself loved the wings. But the piece de reistance was definitely the steaks! The best-est we've had in a long time! And cooked to perfection! Our only disappointment is that we'd ordered one mash and one chips to go with steaks - and not two mash as it was divine! As were the onion rings! If you like steak - gotta try FXBs!

I had lunch in the FXB restaurant today but was offered the Ryan's pub lunch menu. Although the FXB menu said lunch was 12-3, one waitress in the bar told us it wasn't available until after 3pm. Anyway, whichever menu it was, the food was delicious. Two of us had the crispy fried haddock with chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. The fish was melt-in-the mouth tender; the chips were delicious and were served in a paper cone; the peas, served in a ramekin, weren't too mushy; and the sauce was pleasant. I really couldn't fault this course. For dessert my host chose banoffee pie to share. I deliberately don't choose banoffee any more as most restaurants skimp on the toffee sauce and the biscuit base is often dry. Today's offering was marvellous - a mix of biscuits in the base (including chocolate), a proper caramel sauce and plenty of it, and a thick layer of whipped cream. A massive portion - too much for one person - and maybe a touch too much chocolate powder sprinkled on top (crumbled Flake is much better). The waitress upstairs was chatty, welcoming and efficient. A great lunch!

Four of us went for dinner on thanksgiving evening, as a nod to an American friend. We arrived just before seven, so we opted for the early bird menu. It’s really good value, but you won’t be offered it, and we’ve always had to specifically ask for it. Two courses is €20, and three are €23.50. Given that I had an excellent 10oz Char-grilled Rib Eye Steak which on its own costs more than €20, the early bird is a really good deal. The meal was pleasant and service is very attentive and friendly. Being able to order pints from the pub downstairs is a nice feature.

Cute, classy, warm, serving lovely food. I first went with the partner before it became a "grill." The starters were gorgeous and both of our mains were so well cooked and accompanied. What I was most impressed with was the level of service and the wine service and selection (over 60 varieties and in such a small restaurant!!). Second time, food was all perfect for our Sunday lunch. I am hoping that the change to Grill won't hurt any of the charm!

This was the 2nd time we had eaten in this restaurant and none of us were disappointed yet again. The variety of food is huge and as one of our fellow diners is vegetarian it was nice for her to have more than one choice. As always the steak is perfect and dont miss the banoffi for dessert - its the best ever!

I've gone into Ryans occasionally over the years and when I moved back to Dublin last year I had some European friends visiting and I was looking for a restaurant that did good steaks and that was in close proximity to traditional pubs - how happy was I when I saw that FXB's were now operating from Ryan's as well! It lived up to expectation in terms of food quality - steaks were fab and good wines to match and friendly service. Needless to say it went down a treat wih my visitors! So much so, that as other friends from the UK have come over to visit, I've booked and each time I've had equally good food and service. Most recently went there on a Sunday night and it didn't disappoint. We were tired and the steaks (fillet and rib-eye) hit the spot perfectly!

Was in here with my mother & father when they visited dublin, wanted something casual & where we could enjoy a few pints afterwards. Food was fantastic, my dublin bay prawns where the perfect starter- but followed up & surpassed by my perfectly cooked fillet. Needless to say cant wait for another excuse to dine in here!!

We stayed close to home with this restaurant. We were greeted swiftly and offered any table to sit at even though there was only two of us ( nice touch ). Were given menus and wine list ( which is very impressive ) . Our order was taken swiftly. When food arrived it was a bit of a let down, the prawns had way to much butter on them. For m/c I ordered sirloin. Cooked okay but obviously not seasoned before cooking, side order of champ very bland and again no seasoning. A little over priced. Would I try it again? Yes I would because the service stood out from everything else. I think we dealt with the Manageress but she was superb.

i pop in here for a few pints and a bit of pub grub frequently. last week i had the steak sanswhich - it was the BEST steak sandwhich i have ever had (and i have had a few!). Meet was top quality. service was excellent. On a down note it is slightly overpriced, but for a couple of euro extra the quality is definately worth it. enjoy

I called into Ryans on a busy Sunday teatime. Between regulars watching the match, families emerging from their lunches elsewhere and rail travellers returning to the capital after the weekend, the service should have been patchy but it wasn't. An excellent barman handed myself and my companion two menus, and a waitress saw to our orders as soon as we were ready to make them. The food was excellent, if a little overpriced, but I would certainly return again

Missed a train one wet Friday afternoon & I decided to venture outside the train station for some food. I was delighted with FXB's offerings. I had the chicken c. salad & it was delish. The fries are gorgeous. I thought it was reasonably priced as good sized portions were served. Would certainly return here if I was in the area again!

This place is just around the corner from me so I've been a few times. I'm not a big steak eater but they have plenty of alternatives on the menu. The battered cod is gorgeous and I love their chunky homemade chips! No doubt I'll wander round the corner again to this place soon!

Usually have something to eat in the bar downstairs though this time as a birthday bash of 12 we booked into the restaurant and it is more pricey though well worth it and could not fault the food or service and the wine list was impressive for a restaurant of this size with some real treats so well worth asking for a recommendation from the wait staff who seem to know their stuff, we went with a red zinfandel and it went down well, almost too well with everybody. They char-grill the steak here and it tastes like it just came off a barbie only they can cook better than you, your neighbour or your sisters boyfriend, I'm a fan, there are not enough places like this.

Went on a friday night in January. The pub downstairs was packed and you have to use the same facilities. The heat in the dining area was opressive and the food was just very average and over priced. The service was very slow. Will not be back

Had an early bird here one evening. Quality was only fair. We all had rib-eye steaks which were mediocre. I was surprised because the place has a good rep. Also felt that portions were small but I guess with early birds you're always taking a chance.

Great place, food excellent not just steak plenty of options portions - very generous. Atmosphere lovely, very relaxing, service very good. Not waiting too long for food yet it didn’t arrive straight away so time to chat and at least we were sure it was cooked fresh. No rushing us out when we were done. The hostess was a little OTT but does on excellent job!

I just recently moved to this area and I have to say that I love FXB's on Parkgate Street. The staff are so friendly and always try to accommodate me even when they are packed. I love the fact that this place is not in town and you can have a cosy romantic meal or a girly gossip and then head for a few drinks downstairs (the barman are great). The steaks are cooked to my taste every time and great value. They do lovely wines by the glass and have a nice selection that’s not over priced. If you’re in this neck of the woods this place is a must!

Had the rib eye here recently and it was second to none. If you can handly the fat on this cut , I think it's better than fillet. We ate downstairs and the atmosphere is great. A great place to bring your fella for watching the soccer and have a bite to eat. He had bangers and mash and this was very good value. He got a hugh, succulent sausage with a very tasty sauce. The guinness is good too. Will be back.

This restaurant is brilliant! Fantastic and friendly service and brilliant food. The steaks are cooked to perfection. I will return to FXB's again and again. I really like the atmosphere as well. Small and cosy.

Really enjoy eating in this restaurant. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. I've rarely had a reservation but they've always managed to find a table. If you're in the city centre it's a quick hop on the Luas to Heuston and Ryan's is a 2 minute walk away. So I've often gone there to get out of the manic hustle and bustle of Dublin city centre. The food is delicious, you certainly won't leave hungry with the portions they serve up. Chips or mash are served with most meals free of charge so it's not one of those restaurants that charge you for every little addition you make. While it is a steak restaurant there are plenty of other choices for those not really into their red meat. Enjoy!

On a recent wet Sunday, the family descended on this restaurant. The first thing to strike home was the warm welcome from the staff, which was attentive until the moment we left. 13 euro for the roast of the day, two generous slices of tasty tender beef, with good mash and veg, they also serve great steak (surprise surprise), crêpes, omlettes, and the great hangover cure... the all day fry up. The wine list shows a bit of imagination also. Lunch for five with a bottle of good robust red for a little over 100 euro! We'll be back.
