Had our christmas party here with a group of 9 people. We ordered off the christmas dinner meny, and out of the 9 of us nobody was impressed. 2 of the girls ordered caesar salad, which contained bby gem lettuce, one or two croutons an possible 3 bits of bacon, both complained about lack of dressing. A few of us ordered the Brie, when i received mine it was so cold the cheese was re-congealed. When the waitress came back to see if we needed anything 2 of us complained about the brie an they took it back, a minute or so later we got back our plates to find they had tried to re-heat the food instead of making fresh ones which resulted in all the Brie to seep through the bread crumbs so we were both left with cases of over cooked crumbs with no cheese at all. The mains then led to another disappointment. I ordered the salmon which was cooked nicely but as for it being on a bed of crab... it was non existant... there was lumps in the sauce. All mains were stated to come with a medley of fresh market seasonal vegetables, when i asked to see where the veg for the rest of the mains were i was told that the salmon or steak or duck didn't come with vegetables. In their favour there was no complaints about the turkey option. When we thought it couldn't get any worse it came to dessert, there was supposed to be an option of 3 but we were informed that the chocolate biscuit log wasn't available, an we weren't giving an alternative choice. One person ordered the pudding and the rest ordered the ice cream with chocolate sauce. When they arrived there was no chocolate sauce on any of them so we asked about it an their reply was they didn't have any. In my opinion it was still early with a shop open 2 doors down so they could of went an got chocolate an made a quick chocolate sauce but they failed to think of this. The icecream was tasteless!
Response:
All the issues raised, are appreciated as I take feedback seriously from my customers. I’ve personally spoken to the staff on duty at the time in question to get a full picture of this particular function. It is always important for me to carry out a full research investigation, of any incidents and comments that are brought to my attention. Fortunately, as I was working in the kitchen that night I can comment on how that food was prepared before service. What is unique to Foley’s, is that all our food ingredients are prepared by hand in slicing, dicing, chopping from farm to fork and I take great pride in my preparation. Whether it is a matter of service, food or drink I do take these issues very seriously and while most reports I receive are complementary, I do admit that occasionally mistakes will occur and I do my best to address them immediately. I always try to understand what happened and if I am at fault, what safeguards should I put in place to protect all my customers in the future. You were attended to by our Manageress and while a couple of minor infractions did occur, notably a request for extra salad dressing and for extra vegetables, these were attended to immediately, to the acknowledged satisfaction of your party. The manageress has also confirmed that while she enquired, as to your satisfaction and that of other members of your party, the response was consistently positive and complimentary. Our Manageress has recently phoned you, in order to clarify matters and while you have refused her offer to meet, at any time of your choosing, this offer will remain open. It seems that given the foregoing and the futility of our offer to discuss this matter personally with you, I can only surmise that it may point to a deeper malaise which only you are privy to and in the spirit of this Christian period, may I, notwithstanding the above, take this opportunity to wish you, your family and loved ones, good wishes and every possible good fortune in the future.

I hadn't eaten in the bar in Foley's before, usually opting for the restaurant upstairs, but there was a match on the big screen so we took a table downstairs. My group ordered the chicken wings while we waited and these were delicious, served with blue cheese, carrots & celery. I ordered the 8 ounce steak, which even downstairs in Foley's was delivered on a distinctive sizzling hot-plate, resting on top of sautéed mushrooms and onions. I dunked the "proper chips" in the sauce, described as a signature Jameson Irish Whiskey Sauce, soaking up every last drop. Service was quick and came with a smile, returning halfway through how our food was.

Nice place for lunch. I have been to there for a few times now and even though the food was nice there, it's not the main reason for my returning visits. What makes it best for lunch is there good price and central location and you will always find a table without waiting. All that are just perfect for a lunch spot if you are working in city center. I have tried most of the lunch menu especially the Steak and Chicken, Ham & Leek Pie and you just can't go wrong with it. Give there lunch a try, you won't be disappointed.

I had lunch here with a few colleagues before Christmas, the waitress was very friendly and attentive and although I wasn't expecting much from the food it was a lot better than expected. A couple of us got pies served with mash and peas - they were good quality but a bit dry. One of the girls got the minute steak which was actually big enough and very good. The menu seems to be extensive enough for pub grub and I'm looking forward to trying out some more pies! I have also heard good reports aobout the fish and chips to take away. The atmosphere wasn't great but it was after lunch on the day everyone had finished for Christmas and gone shopping!

Visited Foleys with my work colleagues for lunch on Thursday. Food was good and waitress very attentive and efficient. I didn't feel there was much atmosphere in the place, it is after all a pub that happens to serve food. Won't rush back but would probably visit again if location suited me.

Went here for a late lunch yesterday. Just popped in as I was walking to town from Ballsbridge with my mum and as it was starting to rain we thought it was as good a place as any to grab a bite. It was cosy when we went in and a waitress came up to us straight away. I ordered vegitarian lasange and my mum ordered cornish pasty. When the food arrived a vegetarian pie arrived for me instead. I explained it wasn't what i had ordered and the waitress brought it back to the kitchen and came back saying the they didnt have an vegetable lasangne left. She then told me that the kitchen was about to close which i thought was a bit rude and unnecessary especially since it was advertised as being open until 3 and it was only 2.35. I asked her for the menu and ordered a lamb pie. When it arrived the chef came out dropped it on our table without even an apology. The pie itself was very bland and the chips were just thrown around it. The main courses were €10.50 each which would be ok value if the service was more pleasant and if the food was tasty. I won't be going here again.

Struggling to find a place for breakfast we saw a sign outside suggesting that it was open. There were only two people inside. We ordered the full breakfast. If you like fried food, it was very good indeed. Sausages, bacon, egg, tomato, black and white pudding, baked beans and toast. Tea or coffee. €9! For me it was a once-in-a-while 'heart-failure' heaven! The place was quiet, which suited us, and the ratings are relative to the place itself rather than on any absolute basis. Pub Grub that we were grateful to find on a wet and windy morning!

We visited Foleys bar and restauarant on a cold wet Sunday when we needed hot nourishing hearty food to warm us up. I ordered a latte while I waited for my main dish, a fisherman's pie and my boyfriend ordered a pint and a fisherman's pie. The service was quick initially and I was served a latte in minutes. My concept of a latte is different to the product that I received in the sense that I was served a watery coffee mixed with a little milk and it tasted horrendous. So, I sent it back and orderd a tea instead (a big pot of tea was served when I had almost finished my meal). The pies when served were not at all attractive in appearance but they tasted absolutely wonderful. They contained every type of fish that one would expect to eat in a fishermans pie + more. There was no shortage of prawns, salmon, haddock or cod and the mash that coated the pie was delicious and the portion was generous. For €12.50 a pie, it is a bargain. I would highly recommend this choice of dish. When the bill arrived, we were charged for the latte which was undrinkable but when i explained the situation to the girl on the till, she took it off the bill. As it was a quiet time on a wet Sunday, there was a definite absence of life around the restaurant but I can see how it would be livelier in the evenings. I would say that it could be a hit for tourists. Overall, I liked the restaurant but have reservations because of the latte incident.

Overpriced and bland food, ok(ish) service, and really tacky tourist-ville carry on! Operates as though their location/'Oirish'ness will carry them - might've been the case 2 yrs ago; not now! Prices need to drop, and staff need to improve.

Went here for lunchtime food. Huge menu to choose from, with main courses starting at 12 €. The food was excellent I had an omlette which I would highly recommend. However one of my companions did not recieve their food until after I had finished eating. Also another companion was ordering ice cream which was suppose to have six flavours to choose from ended up (with a lot of confusion) that there was only three available and these were brought to her without asking first if they were okay. Some language barriers with staff who didn't understand some of our requests.

The food here is way overpriced for what you get. I ate here on a Saturday night. The service was slow. What we got was nice, but charging €25ish for a main with no sides is making a statement of intent. My lamb was smothered in mustard, that was not that nice. My wife's chips were cooked in cheap oil. Overall, you would be happy enough with the food if you got it for €15 in a pub.

Ate in the Foley's Bar on New Year's Day. I had heard that it wasn't great but there wasn't much open in town so decided to try it. Unfortunately, what I had heard was confirmed. It was extremely expensive for what we got - the food was very average, the wine turned out to be an expensive bottle of plonk (and it wasn't the house wine either), the presentation of the food was poor, and the service was friendly but slow. And given the current economic climate, the prices were horrendous - two mains and the bottle of plonk came to well over €60 - in a bar!!! There is much much better value available out there. I won't be back and wouldn't recommend it.

Great little place for a snack or meal during the day. The seating downstairs can get a little squashed during busy hours, but the food is quite good and the portions are massive. It is a little dark, but the service is good and food nice. Nice place for lunch or taking a break from shopping.

This newly opened restaurant is a little hidden star. The moment we arrived we were treated with attention and respect. Staff are so attentive. We had only just sat down when we were presented with some canapes on the house. The dinig room is nice, small and cosy. Wine was brought to the table before orders were taken. There is an excellent seafood menu. Food was perfect. Desserts are a delight. The home-made ice-cream is the best I have ever tasted. Restaurant is expensive but worth every cent!

This place comes with some very good food and atmosphere, however the price does not reflect the value you are getting - Norm in Dublin. Mussels are fresh and good and if you are looking for a nice relaxing/lively place the weekend is your best bet, Sundays are always a pleasure and if you get some trad music you should be able to strike a laugh with some tourists.

There are much nicer places to eat in folks. I work in the area and we usually give Foleys a wide berth. Its dark & dingy and could do with a good clean. Most of the staff don't care about you either. It's like you are a hindrance in their lives. God forbid you could crack a smile from some of the cranky ones. Food is mediocre. It stays busy due to unsuspecting tourists.

Ate here a few weeks ago with my sister at lunchtime. The service was very good and the staff friendly. I ordered the Lunch Special, which was Roast Beef of the day. The dish was huge!!! The portion of beef was enough to feed 2 people, accompanying it was roast potato, mashed potato, Yorkshire pudding, carrots & cauliflower. I could only eat maybe half of it, but it was mouth wateringly fabulous!! My sister had the fish, which was more in proportion in size, which she also really enjoyed! Will be going back again!!
