I have eaten in this restaurant on many occasions and it always delivers an excellent meal at an excellent price. The staff were friendly and attentive and atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. We started with a drink at the bar which is a lovely area and the set meal offered good variety and at a great price. I would go back time and time again to this restaurant.

i've been here a few times and have always found the food of delicious. Cocktails are my fav but recently the menu has changed and i tried something other than my favourite massaman, and i have to say was very impressed.

Dined here with a large group on a busy midweek night. There's always a busy atmosphere and the service is consistently excellent. In pairs we availed of the €60 offer per couple - 3 courses each plus a bottle of wine. I've had this deal a few times before and always thought it was great value. Unfortunately my latest experience wasn't so good. For starters I had mussels, 90% of them were closed and so not safe to eat. The chef should really know this before sending out shellfish. Main courses were tasty but the portion have become noticably smaller and I really wasn't that full after my meal, never mind the men at the table! Everyone commented at how the portions have reduced in size. This makes the €60 deal less attractive. Desserts were fine.

Got a gift voucher for here and so went for the first time ever with my husband on a sat night. Greeted warmly and coats taken off us, there was a great buzz in the restaurant which was a brilliant first impression. Led to a table upstairs which was fine but had a corridor feel to it. Service was excellent throughout the meal. We shared a crab starter which was very tasty and fresh. I then went for the Wok-fried Tiger Prawns with jasmine rice -this was advertised with 3 chillies beside it i.e. hottest dish but I didn't find it hot at all, it was tasty but not what I hoped for. We had a €75 voucher and had to put €25 towards it which included a bottle of wine, I would probably give this another try but was disappointed by the main which is a pity and also found it quite expensive so would go for an early bird special or similar next time.

I saw the advert sign on the street and on this website for the 2 course set lunch menu and decided to go with a friend, only to be told that "they arent doing that"? makes no sense. False advertising. Food was lovely but we only got one course for the same money...??

Visited here with friends in early Dec. Left waiting half hour for table without proper apology and then paid way over the odds for what was fairly standard Thai cusine - way overpriced - I thought restuarants like this went out with the Celtic tiger. I will never go again - had such fond memories of this restuarant but I was very disappointed with the pricing and quality of the food - they need to overhaul and get with the times.

Visited the restaurant with my three friend for a birthday celebration. They have the value meal running all evening which was great value and the food was amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will certainly be returning in the near future

I'd heard a lot about this restaruant before I visited. We were there at 18:30, so there were very few other diners there. My firnd had fish cakes which were a bit rubbery, I have spring rolls which were nice. Main courses we had were beef cuury and a chicken and prawn noodle dish. Both were lovely. The service was excellent. On the night they had a problem with the lights in that they kept goig out - fuse problem apparently. I enjoyed the food, it was very good value for the erly bird, we didn't try dessert as there were only 2 choices -ice cream or fresh fruit salad.

I went here with a party of five for my birthday. What a great experience overall. Wonderful friendly and attentive staff, vibrant atmosphere and most of all the food was excellent. I would very strongly recommend this restaurant.

We dined at Diep on a Saturday evening; from the minute we arrived the staff were attentive and friendly. The menu was impressive and had a great selection as was the wine and cocktail list. For starter I had the satay chicken salad – the dressing was amazing, lovely fresh flavours with a kick! My partner had the starter platter with a sample of 5 different appetizers and each of them was delicious. The waitress described their ‘cocktail of the day’ which we both had with our starters and was dangerously easy to drink – they were freshly made and generous in size. For mains we had the lamb massaman curry and the beef red curry, both of which were beautiful. All-in-all we had a fantastic night, great food and great service. The only criticism would be that the drinks were slightly pricey but this didn’t take away from the experience. 5 stars.

Went with a group of seven, choose it for its atmosphere and good food. Neither let us down. The restuarant was packed and buzzing. Food very good overall except the pork belly starter which seemed like it was cooked earlier in the day. Service was excellent. However I throught it was a bit expensive for what we got.

I've gotten take away from here a number of times. It's always delicious. Always the green curry with duck. The last time the sauce was a little different, a bit thicker and stodgier than usual, but still good. I also get take away from the diep in blackrock, also good.

Visited Diep le Shaker for the first time last thursday. A group of 12 in total. I found the service great and staff very pleasant. What I really like was they took our order and when coming back with our food there was no fuss over who ordered what. They remembered each individuals order which is usually very unlikely when serving a group of 12. The food was great. I had the set evening menu which i found to be great value. The portion sizes were perfect, not too big a starter that would ruin your appetite for your main course. The location is fine and I found the parking to be great as for such a central location it was easy to get onstreet parking at 6 in the evening and the pay and display is only until 7 so I wasnt worrying for the night that my ticket would expire. The only downside I would have was our group were seated down the back of upstairs were the were no other diners for most of the night, so it felt there was no atmosphere here yet downstairs was busy with what seemed to be a good atmosphere, however, as there was a group of 12 of us this was not a huge problem as we made our own fun. I would return here no problem.

Food was yum however the service was let down on two ocassions during our evening. Two large groups came in just as we finished, trying to get the bill was difficult! And then the credit card machine decided not to work - 4 void reciepts - and very little of an apology, almost felt like it was our fault!

Hadn't eaten here before in spite of many intented visits. Very pleasant food with pleasant staff and decent atmosphere for lunchtime. But, the plates were well worn and the cutlery was dirty - which I found very suprising for a restaurant with such a profile and reputation! (Sign of the times I guess). As to the food, we ate from the set lunch menu Yum Gai, Satay Gai, Beef Rendang and Moo Phad Prik. We also ordered a seabass from the a la carte to share as my host knew the portion sizes to be on the small side and he has a healthier appetite that I. A good selection of food to be sure, delicately and aromatically spiced with a good balance of flavour. Reasonably priced and around the 50E mark for the two of us with two glasses of white wine. Wouldn't object to visiting although perhaps not in a hurry. Am wondering if findig the clamp on my car when I returned to it has somethig to do with my ambivalence? Be warned - put in plenty of coin! I do however recommend this both from the staff and ambient atmosphere perspective but so tto as the range of food (if you like Thai) is unlikely to disappoint you!

I used to go to Diep le Shaker quite a bit up until 2 years ago when we moved house and it wasn't as convenient! I remember having one of the best dining experiences ever here; the service was excellent, brilliant atmosphere, food was amazing and our waiter was so knowledgeable and helpful and recommended the most gorgeous wines to accompany our meal. With that in mind, it's disappointing to read some of the more recent reviews, especially those saying that the food has gone downhill. So I recently went back for lunch, and while the atmosphere wasn't as good as I remember (it was fairly quiet on a Thursday lunchtime), the food and service were as fabulous as always. Friendly, efficient waiters and the most gorgeous Yellow curry I've ever had. I agree that the a la carte menu is a bit expensive, but the specials are good value with good choices so I will definitely be back!

€28 main course? I was surprised at how expensive a thai curry is here. To be paying €25 for a Thai red curry and then being asked if you would like rice with that is a bit much. The food and service were good but the high prices left a very sour taste in ones mouth. Good food and service just too expensive for my taste.

As I'm planning my trip to Vietnam I wanted to try the local cuisine. We arrived at the restaurant on Saturday evening and we didn't have a booking. We were told however, that we can seat in the bar area which was fine. The food was ok ( soup, duck pancakes, chicken egg fried rice and shrimp dish). As we have travelled through Thailand before, the food here compared to Thailand wasn't that impressive, especially the rice which was very dry. The atmosphere was fine, although I didn't understand the American pictures on the wall. The service was horrible, and we were actually told that the restaurant is only Thai not Vietnamese yet the restaurant's business card started thai and Vietnamese cuisine. The place where we were sitting beside the entrance was absolutely freezing. A suggestion, if there is too many guests in the house or not enough proper spaces to dine, then don't accommodate more guests! I would definitely not come back again.

Went for lunch with a group of 21 last week. While the menu was limited I found the starter and main course were wonderful. The desert was disappointing. Overall I thought the Christmas Set Menu was well presented but very limited. The service unfortunately was very disappointing and within 5 mins of us receiving our starters the comment was passed there goes the tip. Even though it was a large group the restaurant in general wasn't very busy and there was more than enough staff to cope, unfortunately the attitude of one ruined the experience for all. Will visit again and try the full menu based on the standard of the starter and main but the waiter was enough to put off most of my party from returning.

Diep is my favourite Thai/Asian Restaurant, it was one of the first and its still the best. I love their sizzling beef dishes, the service is friendly and welcoming and the Restaurant itself is lovely. I love their "to go" place in Ranelagh too. Others have tried but in my opinion the original Diep cant be beaten.

This restaurant is a great place for a group night out, always a good atmosphere, it can be a bit tricky if you go here as a couple and get seated beside a large group as it can be quite distracting however the staff are good when it comes to making sure youa re comfortable ordered a guinness while waiting however then found out it came from a can so sent it back, no problem, should have really known better and stuck to the great cocktails this place offers my wife went for the set menu which wasnt a great decision in retrospect, i am not a fan of these having been disappointed i think in every one I have ever chosen, quality of the food wasnt great however stick with the a la carte and you cant go wrong prawn tempura and the slow roasted prok belly are very tasty starters, the nua Phad Prik Sod is a a spicy beef dish coupled with egg fried rice is fantastic, this place isnt cheap but the food is very good,

First visit to this restaurant. Had set menu of three courses plus a bottle of wine for 2 people for 60 euro. Fantastic value. Excellent food and service. Would definitely recommend it. Second visit to this restaurant on Friday 12th Nov. Same excellent standard of quality and value for money as first visit. Brilliant atmosphere.

Been here on numerous occasions over the past few years. It's definitely a great spot with lovely food, but it's slipped down from being one of my favourites. The food is still delicious, had spring rolls, chicken penang curry and sorbet with a decent bottle of wine for €74 (for 2). What's lacking though is the atmosphere it used to have, the tables are so cramped it's hard to concentrate on your conversation when you can hear every word of the table behind you. It's more a place for groups now I feel. Still a great spot.

One of the worst meals I've had in a long time!! Came here for a late lunch and granted it was a bit late in the day to expect a lunchtime atmosphere but I couldn't believe the poor quality of the food!! We had the squid and prawns to start. The squid was anemic in colour, tough and utterly tasteless!! The chargrilled prawns were few and far between, but were again utterly tasteless and they did not taste chargrilled and had either been frozen or re-heated!! The beef main course was an improvement but the main of seabass was very disappointing as it was overcooked and was overpowered by garlic and chili. The service was good. Total waste of money....never again!!

I came here on Friday evening with my boyfriend for a late dinner, food as always was absolutely superb as always, it was very busy so getting our seat took a little time but worth it when compared with the overall experience. The waitress was knowledgeable and very attentive. The live music was very conducive to the atmosphere also. The portions are generous and to a very high standard in my opinion. Expensive but worth the treat!

I have eaten here a few times with friends, family and colleagues. I love the food - it is really full of flavour. I've tried a few different dishes but have settled on the sweet basil chilli beef as my favourite. I'm not mad about the layout but that's just personal taste. The cocktails are a nice touch too. Would recommend this for a fun evening out with friends.

Went here on Friday at 5.45pm before going to the Point for a comedy gig. It was pretty empty but did start to pick up about 7pm when we were leaving. The atmosphere starts to become more attractive when it gets dark with the low lighting. I found the staff very professional but the table staff lacking a friendly manner. I had the two course menu for €21.95. Popia tort to start which was veg spring rolls with plum sauce. The plum sauce did not come out with the spring rolls and I couldn't remember if it was on the menu so didn't ask. Bit of an inexcusable fault of the waiting staff. The spring rolls were pretty tasteless. I had the Panang Gai for mains with fried rice which was very tasty. My girlfriend just had a main from the main menu and was charged for her boiled rice. Her meal was more expensive than my two courses which was odd. This is a nice resturaunt with pretty good Thai food but I won't be rushing back anytime soon.

Had a very nice dinner in Diep. THe food was fresh and full of flavour, with the exception of the Satay Gai in the Starter selection. The menu said it was marinated but it tasted like the chicken had been grilled and the sauce just placed on it after. The scallop stir fry tastes great, very soft. A good cocktail menu and friendly staff. Definitely going back.

Group of us went for lunch and we availed of the two course set lunch menu for 15.95 each. Starter choices varied between Popia tort(spring rolls), Muu Grop (Pork Belly) and Yum Gai (chargrilled chicken) everyone was very pleased with their choice. For the main course most of us went for the Panang Gai (Red chicken curry) and a couple had the Phad Thai (Noodles). Most of us thought that the curry was very hot as the red chillies were chopped up with the seeds included throughout the curry, but if you like it hot then it was perfect, some of us were a bit hungover to cope with the spiciness. The wait between serving the starter and main course was longer than what you would expect, but the staff were attentive and overall it was a nice lunch.

I would disagree with a lot of the previous previews of this restaurant and think that they are somewhat harsh. While the food is not very spicy and is a different take on most thai restaurants, the food is great quality and very well prepared. The restaurant lacks any memorable style, but the food definitely left a good impression. I would particularly recommend the spicy rice dishes, the lueng toem in particular. While not recommended for a special occasion, it is great value for a low budget night out of a mid-week treat.

Didnt like this place at all. To be fair the service was decent and cost wasn't too bad. But my god the food was horrible. I enjoy spicy food and the curry here just wasn't nice. It wasn't that it was too spicy or anything just not nice at all. Would not recommend this place any1.

Disappointingly average. I hate to say this of a restaurant that is regarded in such high esteem but the food is only OK. We arrived with high expectations but left just barely satisfied. We shared the shredded duck and spring rolls for starters. The duck was tasty but lacking any real flavour. The spring rolls were good. For mains we had stir fired beef and chicken. Both were slightly bland with no real flavour shining through. The beef was chewy and unenjoyable. The wine menu is fantastic, with a large amount to choose from at reasonable prices. I found the Wine of the Month to a nice touch as it involves the customer more in the process. Needless to say we went with it and while it was good I was regretting not choosing the rioja after the first glass. The rest of the venue gets five stars, but that's not what I give too many points for - I'm paying for the food, the service and ambiance should be included in that. The service was good, if a little too attentive and slightly rushed. While the atmosphere was enjoyable

value meal is really excellent value.. two people three courses and a tasty bottle of tempranillo for 74.50... you are supposed to be out in two hours but our server said that it wasnt too busy (bank hol fri) so there was no time limit on us... just as well since it took about five mins to be brought menus and another ten mins for our order to be taken. The choice is limited but still good though the pork belly as more appreciated by my husband than by me... as the server said more of a male dish!! The curries were really tasty. Overall goood food, nice staff but slow service.

We went to Diep for my hen party! It was fab as always! It's slightly on the expensive side for asian food but sooo worth it. I always go there to celebrate a special occasion and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is really chilled but with a nice buzz. The staff are excellent, we were there for almost 3 hours without realising it and that was before desert. We didn't feel rushed off the table at all. Fantastic venue for a group special occasion. We are hoping to get back there soon to celebrate a 30th birthday....

Have eaten here a number of times both with friends and clients, and the food and service has always been impeccable and without fault. The new spring/summer menu is very tasty. The last time I was there I had the scallops for starters and steamed sea bass for main, both were wonderful and full of flavour. Excellent selection of wines.

There was a great buzz in the restaurant when we arrived. The restaurant offers a very good evening 'value menu' of 3 courses and a bottle of premium wine for 72.50 per couple. Although there were options to suit everyone on the value menu, I preferred some of the dishes from their A La Carte menu. Our waiter was very accommodating when I asked if it was possible to order a first course from the value menu but a main course from the A La Carte. I chose salt & chili squid to start. I was expecting the usual squid rings but was pleasantly surprised to get deliciously tender squid pieces in a batter. My hubby chose the pork belly which was divine. The skin was perfectly crispy but the meat still remained juicy. For main course I ordered stir fried scallops with garlic and my hubby opted for the green duck curry. Both were perfectly cooked; the scallops were not overcooked, and were still translucent in the centre. Both of our dishes were served with steamed rice. A bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc perfectly complimented the dishes. Service was attentive without being over-powering. During our meal a member of the front of house team asked if we were enjoying our meal which was a nice touch. Definitely a fine dining experience.

have been to Diep several times over the last few months, and each time i love it. Their special value menu is fantastic, and its defo worth going for the slightly more expensive option for a choice in wine. Food is excellent quality and service was great. Some of the best Mojitos that ive ever had!!!!

I went to Diep in a group of 11, at about 8pm, midweek. The staff were very nice, they didn't rush us. There was just the right amount of time between courses, and the staff regularly topped up the wine, althought they did not leave the wine bottles we ordered on the table, which I would have liked. The atmosphere was nice, calm and relaxed. The food was very good, everyone was impressed. However, we did find it quite expensive for what we got.

If you want to step into an oasis in the middle of the city, this is it! The place to really enjoy some gorgeous cocktails and tasty food. I highly recommend the pad thai here- simple and served with an egg waffle topping which makes it seem very exotic. Very tasty too. And the chocolate brownie is very tasty even if the chilli flavour is way too mild to be tasted!! All in all, with a few quid to spare, this is a place to visit for sure! I would recommend you taking the time to go there.

Like any foodie worth their salt I had naturally heard of Diep le Shaker but unfortunately had never been. So armed with my Menupages free glass of wine voucher I decided to rectify this. I was running about 20mins late but despite it being a busy lunch service this wasn't a problem for the very plesant hostess. The restaurant is bright and airy and a great place to peple watch if your on the second floor balcony!! For starters we had the calamari and the prawn salad. The prawns were declious and the salad fresh very moorish. Personaly I would have liked another prawn as 2, relatively decent sized ones, halved, was not quite enough. The calamari on the other hand was plentyful and cooked beautifully. Again, one minor adjustment would be the temperature they were served at..burnt tongue syndrome!! For mains we both had the duck leg curry with cherry tomatoes, pineapple and lychee in the sauce. This was by far the star of the show. Absolutely fantastically 5star food. The duck was cook perfectly and the sauce was to die for..im not joking!! I could happily eat that dish everyday for the forseeable future, it genuinely brough a smile to both our faces. Only one thing, between us not a lychee could be found, which was dissappointing. I presume the sauce is made in a large pot and dished accordingly. I'm not faulting the process as it delivered in flavour but if you're going to put a specific ingredient on the menu you should make sure it actually arrives out on the plate. However, this did not take from the dish at all as I said before it was fantastic. For dessert we had the creamed rice and ginger pudding and the sorbets. They were out of my original request of the lemon & lime parfait but the chef did offer to substatute this with a chocolate brownie if I so wished. I stuck with the sorbets and was very glad I had, they were the perfect end to a lovely lunch. Diep le shaker, it was a long time coming but well worth the wait!!!

I visited Diep with a large party on Friday night. Our party was split between 2 tables which is something I don't like but I am not sure if this was advised to the person booking at the time so maybe it was known. The staff are so friendly and efficient I would have no complaints at all about them and the food was also very nice. Unfortunately I left early before my meal was finished because at 8 months pregnant I had to ask another diner to move each time I needed to go to the bathroom - it was so embarrassing and actually ruined my night. Rather then move him on the 3rd time I decided to go home. It wasn't just me who found it difficult I met another lady at one stage who was in her late 50s who also had to ask for the diner to move. To be made feel embarrassed like that when paying for a meal out is awful. I sent an email directly to Diep who responded advising that the party with the table near the restrooms brought more people then had booked and they had to add a larger table top - they were very apologetic and have offered me a voucher for lunch for 2. I was impressed with their prompt response and will post again after I have used the voucher!

Went here in a large group of 17 for a birthday. The atmosphere was lovely but food was only ok across the board. The bill ended up being very expensive for what we got, no sort of concession or thanks for the very large bill being payed. The thing that really irked us was when a bottle of champagne was sent from a friend and the hostess offered strawberries to go with it (in the nature of offering milk with a coffee). As they were being offered in such a way the strawberries were accepted graciously. We were shocked to see that 6 euro was added to the already large bill for the strawberries! for maybe 5 or 6 strawberries. Considering the bill was already so large we felt that this was a bit much.

Response:
The restaurant have contacted me to let me know that the strawberries were actually a strawberry drink a friend got... my bad!!

A great place to eat with a real sense of occasion.i was greeted warmly at the front desk and that set the tone for the evening.I love the seating downstairs and we were soon slurping back apple martinis and other delicious cocktails as we waited to be shown to our table.it was a birthday celebration and the family couldnt wait to get started.i have visited the restaurant many times but it is among my favourites and i return time after time. The food is mouth wateringly delicious. There is a guide to judge how hot and spicy or mild the food is and this is from zero to three chilli opposite each item on the menuThe food is beautifully presented and i soon had to advise my family to leave room for desert which is just to ambrosial to miss.this could mean loostening buttons. The service is excellent and very pleasant,I think it is worth every cent. However good the atmosphere etc is i wont be back if the food isnt good.i have already told you I have eaten there many times and I love every morsel.

Myself and my other half had a really enjoyable meal here last friday. It was the first time we both ate here, after hearing all good things and I have to say I agree. The service was excellent and the food very very tasty. The scallops were particulary good.! I would highly recommend and will definitely go back, allbeit a little pricy.

4 of us had a very enjoyable meal and the food was very good. We all went for the value menu which was good value and we had no issue with the requirement to be out in 2 hours. However, the staff really rushed us, as soon as we had finished the last mouthful of our starters, the plates were taken away and the main courses suddenly arrived. The same happened after the main courses. We had to ask a couple of times to take a break before ordering deserts because due to the haste we had finished our mains within 30 minutes. It really took from an otherwise very good experience. I have to stress that we were very comfortable with the 2 hour requirement but trying to get us out in under an hour was just too much. If they are going to offer a value menu the service should be the same as if we ordered Ala Carte, otherwise forget about it.

We went for a treat last Saturday night, and we were not disappointed. The meal was just a great experience. We had chicken satay and spring rolls for starter. For main we had yellow chicken curry - yum!!! And sirloin steak which I assumed would be stir fried and served with veg and a sauce, it wasn't but the waitress was quick to sort it out and it was back on the table within minutes in a fab sauce. The food was amazing. The service was attentive. It was a lovely experience, will be going again soon!!!

4 of us booked in to celebrate on Saturday evening and our table was perfect. We were until the big long skylight, we had plenty of space and the atmosphere was gorgeous. We each got 4 different dishes, but the Tiger Cry was by far the best. The steak was cooked to perfection and nicely seasoned. The wine was gorgeous, the cocktail list was really broad, so we all tried something different again. I will definitely be returning. The staff were flawless, always quick to serve and very helpful. Really nice and the decor was gorgeous.

Booked for three on a Friday night. From the time we arrived to the time we departed the staff could not have been more helpful and knowledeable. Great food, excellent service and good wine even if a little pricey. The place had a great buzz and I will certainly be back again soon with other friends. The only downside for me was the lack of the correct coxtail glasses, even though the waiter who served us did advise us before serving and was so knowledgeable about coxtails it did seem amazing this little detail as everything else was first class - PLEASE BUY COXTAIL GLASSES.

My boyfriend and I ate here on a Friday night recently. We made the reservation the previous evening and when we arrived it was very busy so its probably best to reserve a table at the weekend. We were given a table upstairs and the atmosphere was nice with plenty of space between tables. We have eaten in the noodle bar in Ranelagh many times and always love it so we were looking forward to trying its "big sister". We both had prawns to start which were unfortunately over cooked. I had chicken green curry for main while himself had beef red curry. Both were delicious with the perfect level of spice and nicely cooked and good quality meat. For dessert we had cocktails which were very well made and tasty. The service was only ok, as its a large restaurant it seemed a little impersonal at times, and throughout the night we had 3 different people serve us, which personally I don't like. Overall the food was good and it was a nice atmosphere for a romantic meal but I failed to see how the food was any better than the noodle bar yet they charged about €5 extra per mains and €3 extra per starter, and the menus are pretty similar. So if you want good thai food you will certainly get it at Diep, but for better value go to the Noodle bar in Ranelagh. if you're happy to pay a little extra for a better but less casual atmosphere go to Le Shaker!

went here for the special offer of 3 course meal for 2 with a bottle of wine. the atmosphere was great and the menu gave you four option for the starter and main course. I had the mixed starter which was good and the thai green prawn curry which was absolutely delicious.. The options for desert were ice cream or a banana fritter which i went for. The banana fritter was the big let down of the meal and wouldnt recommend it... however, had a lovely after eight cocktail to make up for it afterwards! will be going back..

Went for lunch here yesterday. Excellent and very patient service (one of our party was delayed) Good atmosphere and tasty, pretty authentic cuisine. I certainly had no food envy with my leg of duck while the Pad Thai (a forkful of which I nabbed from my neighbour) was too moist. She seemed to like it though. Liking spicy, it's not an issue for me, but three chillis MEANS three hot chillis here! The wine selection was fine though I wouldn't recommend the Reisling in this instance. A little bitter and so not palatable with these sort of dishes.Overall very good.

Went on Saturday night with 2 of my friends and had a fabulous meal. All flavors complimented each other. Had the chargrilled satay chicken to start and it was tender and moist with a lovely light satay sauce but full of flavor. I had prawns for main course, could have done with a few more prawns int he dish but overall lovely. One friend had the yellow curry which was sublime, wish I had ordered it! My other friend ordered the duck which was very fatty and moreso than normal I would say. The staff were excellent and non intrusive. Love this restaurant and will continue to return.

I visited this restaurant with my husband last weekend for the first time. In all likelihood it will be the last. The atmosphere was good with a bit of a buzz about the place. Unfortunately we were seated beside the door to the cloakroom which didn't appeal but the only alternative was the table at the top of the stairs beside the kitchen door which seemed to get even more passing traffic. We were really hungry so pleased when the drinks and the starter arrived really promptly. We felt the wine could have been chilled more and overall were pleased with the mixed starter for two which we had between us. No sooner had the starter been removed than the main courses arrived. My prawn stir fry was fragrant and tasty and pretty much what I'd expected from the description on the menu. Not so for my husband's duck dish which had been rated with three chillies as something which should have been quite hot. We certainly weren't able to detect anything resembling spice or heat from this dish and so it wasn't as described and was lacking in heat and flavour. We took a look at the dessert menu but there really isn't anything inspiring on here and as someone who normally looks forward to a nice dessert and coffee, I left this restaurant wanting - we had dessert elsewhere. While we got off to quite a good start, the meal finished disappointingly and we're more than happy to pay for good food but there wasn't enough of a selection here for us and one main in particular left us with a bad taste.

We came for the early bird menu. Food was delicious (particularly the duck starter and the beef main - I'd disagree with previous poster who said it lacked flavour). Portions are generous and my friends loved the ice cream (I'd agree with those who say the dessert options on the early bird menu are limited). We'd an unlimited supply of very good prawn crackers and the cocktails, while expensive, are delicious. By 7.00, the restaurant was nearly full and had a lovely buzzy atmosphere. Diners had really dressed up too which created a nice vibe. My only quibble is that the waiting staff do not bring back the folder with your change to you - this is standard practice in all restaurants even if your intention is that the change is a tip.

I went here with a group of six girls. I shared the 60euro option - 3 course meal for 2 and a bottle of wine. I had the hot prawn soup for starter. This was really nice. Note it is hot. I had the chicken noodle dish for mains. I was disappointed with this dish. It was very blan and need that little bit of sauce to lift it. I had the banana friters for desert and it was really tasty. I also enjoy a lovely bottle of south african red wine. My friends had the green curry prawn dish and it was really good. There is a great atmosphere in this restaurant. I would hightly recommend it this restaurant.

This was a disappointing dinner. Perhaps my expectations were too great, but Diep le Shaker is a restaurant of repute, and I have heard many good things about it from several people. The texture of the fishcake starter was rubbery and stodgy, reminiscent of porridge that has been left to 'set' in a bowl overnight; not the flaky consistency of a fishcake that has been hand made with the flesh of a selection fish. Even its appearance was unappetising. I couldn't get the idea of a factory-produced fishcake from my head. The accompanying chilli relish was very tasty, however. The duck curry was mediocre. Some strips of deep-fried duck that were lacking the sort of intensity of flavour you might expect from duck, a selection of rather limp vegetables (particularly the pak choi), but a redeemingly spicy broth that gave some flavour. The egg-fried rice was very good. Red and white wines were good, at the low-to-mid thirty euro price range, in particular the red: La Mentosa Rioja. Service was good, but not superb. I would have expected more attention in keeping glasses topped up in a restaurant of this calibre. The seating was a little cramped, but I should maybe offer some concession, as it was a party of ten on a Saturday night. The bill came to €608, including service charge, and, unfortunately, I am not at all enthusiastic to return given the quality of the food and the lack of value in the bill. This was my second visit to Diep le Shaker, my first being several years ago. I can remember having the same deflated feeling after the first visit also—seems a little too coincidental for my liking. Too bad, as it has so much going for it, Diep le Shaker should be a much more memorable experience.

Response:
I'd like to add the following to my review above. I have been reliably informed that the consistency of the Thai fish cakes should, in fact, be rubbery. "They are made with a mixture of fish, curry paste, kaffir leave, sweet basil, and fish sauce. These ingredients are blended together to make a fine paste and then egg is added to bind the mixture together." In that light, my apologies for my ignorance regarding authentic Thai fish cake recipe and preparation.

What's the fuss about this place? Thank goodness for superfoodie1's review on here (12/09/09). I'd been here once before and was wonderfully under whelmed then. So when I was outvoted by a group of friends on where to eat recently, I asquiesced to the cordial democracy. Diep must still see things with Celtic Tiger tinted glasses. Adequate food at exorbitant prices. And if you're in a group, they'll charge you a 12.5% "discretionary" service charge and forget to bring you back your change. If you want a trip down the bad old Celtic Tiger memory lane, head straight down to Pembroke Lane. You'll be mugged on the double!

Beautiful restaurant, it was very quiet when we arrived but it began to fill up well throughout the evening which created a good atmosphere. Service was excellent, very attentive without being too much so and very professional at all times. The food while tasty wasn't just as good as I was expecting having always heard rave reviews, I actually think Diep Noodle is not only better value but also better food..

Diep Le Shaker is doing great deals at the moment , we ate here last month on a tuesday evening, and the place was practically full. We had the set menu for two with a bottle of wine for €60, it was excellent value. the menu choices were good, with about 5 starters to choose from the same number of main courses, but for dessert there was no choice, Banana fritter was the only option which im a fan of so that was alright too, atmosphere was buzzing and the staff were friendly and organised a taxi for us once we had finised our meal. Will definately be back !!

Was here last night for one of the Menupages nights. This was our first time at the restaurant and our first time at one of the arranged nights. And we will be back to both! The night proved a great chance to meet new people and have a great meal. Sinead, the host was excellent. The food at the restaurant was very good, and we couldn't find fault. Wine flowed and the service was the best we have experienced in a long time. Thanks Sinead!

Big gang of us went here for the first time last Friday. Great Atmosphere, the place was packed and buzzing. We all ordered cocktails and were very impressed. Then perused the Menu and wow were we spoiled for choice. Had the Spring Rolls to start with, followed by Nua Phad Khing. Delicious. The portions were so generous we were not able to fit in desert. I see they are now doing dinner for 2 with wine for €60. Great Value

I have been here twice, both times with my boyfriend and found everything excellent - the food, the service, the décor. Second time we were here we went for the early bird menu which went on til the late time of 8pm and received 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine for 60 euro. I thought this was exceptional value for the standard of the restaurant. I will definitely be returning.

Haven't been here for ages and on leaving work recently, was taken here as a last dinner. Apart from a bit of a push to get us to our table, the service was excellent for the rest of the evening. I had Larb Ped which was delicious - nice balance between the duck and the lettuce. I followed this with Goong Phad Prik Sod - a good kick with cruncy vegetables. All of the nine in our group enjoyed the many dishes that were tried. To be honest it was difficult to chose something from the menu as the choice was so good. The cocktail list is impressive and the wine list likewise. No room for deserts but the coffee finished off the meal well. Will try the value menu next time - looks like fab value and the food has never failed me.

Went here for my birthday as I got a voucher and I was dying to try eating here as so many people rant and rave about it. I have no idea why though as I was highly dissappointed with the menu and also the prices and also the atmosphere. The menu was uninspiring and overpriced. My starter was nice, but under seasoned and my mains which was a pad thai (something they should bve abel to do very well as its such a basic dish) was oversalted and slightly goopey - rice noodles overdone? I wasn't able to eat it and was only able to manage a third of the portion given but was not asked if it was ok when the waiter took it away. It was obvious that it wasn't!! As it was b-day I didnt want to complain as it wasnt THAT bad, just dissappointing but will not be going back . The service was very good though. Very friendly staff.

was here last night as part of a large group.I was so dissapointed with the food. i had been looking forward to eating here for weeks as its a place that people always talk about. it didn't live up to its reputation. rice and noodles starchy and goopy, average starters, most of which were deep fried. mains were all differnt sizes. and the chicken was tough and definately tasted reheated. i have had nicer in a take away. won't be back. service is impecable if not a tad too in your face, but suppose better that then being ignored.

Was quite skeptical about this restaurant; having eaten delicious Thai food at very reasonable prices I couldn’t imagine what Diep le Shaker had to offer. The menu was a little unimaginative but service and atmosphere were good. Still not convinced but will go back for the early bird menu that other reviewers are raving about.

Went for the early bird deal here - three courses plus wine for two people for €60. Great Value. Went for the mixture of starters which were nice but nothing to rave about. Went for the Phad Thai for the mains...very boring as I always choose it! It didn't let itself down. It was yum as always. Went for the ice-cream for dessert. Also got a cup of tea or coffee on top of all that - great value!

Am I missing something here? I have been going to Diep for years but only because my partner loves the food here. In fact, I can recite the entire menu at this stage. Tonight as usual, after leaving the restauant over 150 euro lighter - I am disappointed and begrudge spending the money here. The tip albeit was small. This place used to be such a fun place to go on a Saturday night. The food and service matched the high prices charged back in the days that I remember Diep being at its heigh. Now the food and service seem to have been substantially downgraded; only they forgot to change the prices too. Or did they forget? I am reduced to ordering the same dish each time I visit. The lamb curry is generally very good but I have been disappointed by just about everything else on the menu of late. When my partner finally opens his eyes I am only too willing to point him to pastures green - further afield. I reserve my lidless optimism that things will improve on the quality of the food and on the service front.

This is the 3rd time in as many months that I've come to Diep Le Shaker. And on this occasion they again were outstanding in everything. The 4 of us availed of the Early Evening Value meal on a busy Friday night. It was absolutely superb! The food was pleniful, in fact we couldn't finish our mains, but made sure we had room for dessert. Although you need to vacate the table within 2 hours, the staff made sure we had a table at the bar so that we could finish our drinks comfortably. I will be back again... no doubt soon!

Was here for dinner with friends. Food was nice but no more special than any other Thai place I've eaten in which makes the prices a bit hard to swallow! The singapore noodles came with about three prawns!!! It was very quiet when I was there so the atmosphere wasn't great. Staff were fine.

Went here for a special occasion on Saturday night. The food is amazing, the service is fantastic, the atmosphere was brilliant BUT. The a la carte menu is far too expensive and there was my usual gripe of charging extra for rice. The mind really boggles as to how a Thai restaurant justifies that. Would you be happy to pay for fries/gratin with your steak in a french restaurant?. I will go back and try the set evening menu which seems like very good value. We got the group €40 set menu which was reasonable value but still on the high side. I'd definitely recommend the restaurant but would advise to go for the lunch or early bird menu.

Went here with a group of 6. Thoroughly enjoyable. Great atmosphere with a live singer. Beautiful decor. Good service. Great toblerone cocktails! Would definitely return here. The only downside of the place is the price - a little costly.

What a restaurant! Its gets 5 stars for everything from me. Went here last Fri with my partner for the dinner special (€60 for 3 courses + tea/coffee & bottle of wine for two people). It was amazin! The restaurant is beautiful, the service excellent without feeling uncomfortable & the food....well divine! It was quite busy when we were there, which led to a nice atmosphere but the service never faultered. Were going back with friends very soon! Great spot!

Delicious but way over priced, for corporates meal only. This is a no brainer review, its beautiful, its gorgeous and its way over priced. They are obviously targeting corporates dinners and to some extent are very successful. Go there if your company is paying the bill. Otherwise, look somewhere else.

Haven’t been here for some time. Recently 3 friends and I came for the early bird offer of 3 course meal for 2 including wine for €60 (the offer was available without wine for €50). The food was great as I remembered. I had spring role and a chicken green curry both really tasty. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service was very good.

Prices dropped... Standard still very high. Diep has always been a treat for me and my missus. Love bringing friends here on a Saturday when it's buzzing. Get the later sitting if you can as it's a bit annoying just as you are getting into the swing to have to leave. Still great service, buzzing atmosphere, authentic food, amazing cocktails, and very professional staff. Young M'aitre D very charming and helpful... Always a lovely welcome! Takeaway in Ranelagh is a good starting point to check out the food.

This place is impossible to fault. The quality of the food is top class every time I visit. The chilli beef stir fry and thai geen curry are particularly good. You'd be hard pressed to find better value, than two 3 course meals and a bottle of wine for 60 euros, anywhere in the city.

Utterly brilliant Asian food. I was in a group of 14 and we had a fantastic table. Instead of ordering individual meals we had a selection of dishes. Sampling all the favorites. The massaman curry was particulary great.

I dined here on Wed evening with my mother. It was excellent. We choose the 3 course meal each with the bottle of wine totalling €60. I drank 4 cocktails and my mum had couple of Irish coffee’s. Staffs were excellent and food was delicious. I will be back again soon.

I went on a date here and i have to say - we found the place to surpass our expectations. From the meet and greet at the door to the extremely friendly barman from South America who made a cocktail from a family receipe called "No Name Sauce" Which i recommend. We had the 60 eruo deal - 3 course meal, 2 People, 1 bottle of wine. We had a selection of drinks at the bar as well and chatted to the staff. our bill was 100 euro in total. thats including 4 cocktails. This place is a gem - i will be back!

Dined here with my wife on Saturday night. Food was very nice though overpriced. €25 for a stir fry with rice a little excessive in my view. However, couldn't fault the quality of the food. Service was mixed. There was a large hen party beside us and attention was lavished on them to the exclusion of everyone else.

I dined in Diep le Shaker last Friday for the early bird with 3 friends. We availed of the €60 for two menu which included 3 courses and a bottle of wine. I have the mixed starter which came with different sauces for each item and it was very good. Followed by the yellow veggie curry as main, ice-cream and coffee. The wine included was a spanish red and wasn't bad at all. All on all there was a nice buzz there, service was very good, and I had a cocktail for €6.95 at the bar before my friends arrived!! Would definitely reommend this place.

Have tried the Bangkok Street Food menu a couple of times here, each time hoping it is better than the last. No more! Portions are too small for a full lunch (three courses or not) as am always hungry soon after. Crab cakes taste like rubber and the over-use of coconut and lemongrass in their soups is nausea inducing. Diep is great for the buzz and cocktails are fab (if pricey) but I won't be rushing back here for the food. That is for sure!

Excellent, excellent, excellent!! Visited here recently with my girlfriend and was hugely impressed by the food, service, wine and price of the Early Bird dinner. Its one of the few restaurants in Dublin City offering very good value for money and not the usual dumbed-down menu and cheap plonk at an unreasonable hour in the evenings. Well done and I will be back very shortly!!

Went here with my girlfriend for a family party and first things first the service was great. We had a vegetarian and a vegan with us and the waiter explained what was ok for whom without being asked. We sat upstairs under the glass roof and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The food was great, probably the best Thai I've had in Dublin.

Went here on a Friday evening for the early bird option - 3 courses and a bottle of wine for two people. The ambience in the restaurant itself is nice and relaxed. The surroundings are nice, quite chic but they haven't reinvented the wheel or anything. There were quite a few people in the restaurant when we were there. Of those, quite a few seemed to be availing of the early bird option also so it would seem to be pretty popular. The food itself was very tasty and I found the selection, four options for both the starter and main, quite ample and an option more than many places give you on early bird menus. I had the selection for starter and the pad thai for main and I could not finish my main. The portions are generous and in no way lead you to think you are getting less because you are on the 'cheap' option. The wine that accompanied the meal was really nice and this was probably the bit that surprised me most. I was expecting something pretty mediocre, as one would when getting a meal for this price with wine thrown in, but I was delighted to find that the wine was light and very drinkable. Overall, we had a really lovely meal. The hostess, I found, lacked somewhat in the manners department. She had an air about her that lead us to think there was something distasteful about us. Perhaps it was the early bird bias but I certainly wasn't enamoured with her and, overheard, quite by accident!, a couple at another table sharing my views! The service from the waiting staff, however, was first class and all were very helpful and effecient. I will definitely be going back to avail of this offer again.

Went herre with 8 colleagues from work last week for the Bangkok street lunch menu - 3 courses for €12.95. Without exception we all enjoyed it. The 3 courses are served together so ideal if you are stuck for time. I had chicken satay, duck dumpling and green chicken curry served with jasmine rice - delicious. We opted for tap water and this was no problem - so it was really good value.

Had dinner here for the first time last Saturday and it was fanstatic, the staff are very very welcoming and do an excellent job, very pleasant and make the food even more enjoyable. It's a little gem! The food I have to say is second to none, and the was nicely washed down with a cocktail. We'll be back, sooner rather than later.

The value you get with the early bird here is hard to beat! €60 for 3 courses each & a bottle of wine - and on a Friday too! There's a choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and 2 desserts and there seemed to be something there to cater for most tastes. The wine was decent too and probably one of the bottles I would have chosen from the list anyway! To sum it up - great service, great food & great value!

Great restaurant! Went here last night and had the early bird special - fantastic value for two people - 3 course meals and a bottle of wne for 60euro! Although the menu is quite limited - with only four starters and main courses to choose from - it is still delicious! The staff were very friendly and attentive, they were also very reasonable when I asked to swap one of the deserts from the early bird for one from the main menu. I'd like to come here again and try the a la carte menu - it all sounds amazing!

Having tried Diep Noodle in Ranelagh a while back and enjoying it, thought we'd give this one a try. The restaurant itself is chic with a pleasant ambience. The staff all very friendly and helpful. And of course the food impressed us all. The dish which received the most praise was the lamb curry, with the lamb being perfectly tender & the sauce full of flavour. There was mix up with one of the stir fry's so some got the extra spicy instead of the mild they ordered. The mixed starter was tried by most to get a taste of everything which turned out good. An excellent selection of wines, reasonably priced, with a good choice to compliment the spicy food. We tried 1 or 2 of the cocktails and they were only ok. We had a friend with us over on holidays from South Africa and he was well impressed of which the same would be said by the rest of us.

This is great for Thai food. They do a good value lunch set menu. The main menu can eb pricey for what you get. Food is always consisitent. Also try the cocktails, expensive but worth one or two with your meal. Great if you can get a seat upstairs, there's kind of a glass atrium that shines a lot of light in.

I was in Diep today after much pressure from Mrs Bear. There was good and bad. The 'value menu' was a nice price but poor selection. From the main menu I went with spicy prawns, she went with chicken stir fry. Mine was good. We shared noodles (only ok), rice and a beautiful broccoli dish. Service was excellent and door man charming. €70 for two people (without vino, starters or desert) is too pricey though. The Bears need to think about it.

Booked table for 6pm on a Friday. Lively enough on arrival. Table not in great location, beside bar so constant stream of staff passing by. Didn't convey a sense of relaxation. Could have perhaps done with some music. Great deal on offer of 3 courses with coffee and a bottle of wine for €60. Tasty prawn crackers on table. Bottle of French sauvignon arrived. Lovely fresh flavour and not too heavy. Starters arrived. Mixture of spring roll, prawn roll, fish cake, satay chicken and pork belly with dipping sauces. All v tasty. Yellow curry with sweet potato and wok fried beef arrived, accompanied by a large bowl of fried rice. Both very tasty and good portions. Banana fritters for dessert. Delicious. Coffee to finish and a nice touch when the hostess brought us over tasters of toblerone cocktail. Service was good throughout as they were topping up water and wine and asked how food was etc. One criticism would be that the food came out too fast. So we felt a little rushed. Overall though superb value for such a high quality restaurant and would definitely return.

Dined out with a great group of people for the menu page party. I found the food was very tasty, the service was spot on and the cocktails went down a treat! Defo going to visit Diep le shaker again.

I attended the Menupages night with three of my friends held in Diep le Shaker, I have to say, and I speak for the other lads too when I say we had a great time, The hostess was very helpful and made everyone feel comfortable, the cocktails on arrival were just the thing to break the ice the venue was perfect, the food gorgeous, and the girls best of all. I know I'll be at the next Menupages night and so will all the lads. Can't wait. A+ all round.

I dined here with a big group of people and had a brilliant time. The service was great (even for the size of the group) and the food was fantastic. I had spring rolls to start and yellow curry for my mains. They even had no problem adding chicken to my dish and making my boyfriends dish less spicy! Well recommended

Think the streetfood menu is a brilliant idea. especially the way you get your starter and main course at the one time. The chicken salad was really delicous as were the spring rolls. The beef stirfry was good too. The service was a bit slow. The maitre d' was not good at multi-tasking.........taking phone calls rather than serving people actually in the restaurant. We had to wait quite a while to be seated, look for somebody to take our order and had to be remind twice about our bill. The restaurant was not even half-full. In summary, the food was ver good but the service could be improved on.

I dined here with a group of friends recently to celebrate a birthday, and we all gave it the thumbs up. I've been to this resturant a number of times in the past, for hen parties, quiet dinners, and group celebrations, and never been disappointed. The atmosphere is always fantastic, and the food is delicious. The cocktail menu is well worth sampling too! We'll definitely be back again.

This was my first visit here in almost 10 years so I was pleased to see that it hasn't changed too much. Staff were generally friendly and helpful and the menu was varied. The dessert cocktails are a nice touch ;-)

I have eaten in many Thai restaurents in Dublin and abroad (my partner worked for the Thai embassy for some time). When we were told that this was the best Thai restaurant in Dublin maybe our expectations were set too high. I called to book us a table at 7.30, we could only have our table until 9.30. I hate rushing a good meal so I suggested we come in at 7 to give us an extra 30 mins. Alas it was not to be, I was promptly told we'd "have to be out" by 9, EVEN as it seemed, that our table was free until 9.30. When I explained nicely that I found this dissappointing and a tad unwelcoming, the reaction was unapolagetic and slightly smug. Maybe we started off on the wrong foot and this affected the way they treated us when we arrived I don't know. But one of the first things we were told upon arrival was that our table was for 7-9. Our meal was good quality and not over priced. But we were rushed! Waiters loitered and were just far too prompt. If you're still eating then waiters should not try to take plates away? There was a series drive to refill emptly glasses, as soon as you put it down on the table it's swiped away. We sat to table at 7.10 and at 8.30 were pondering a coffee after a rushed dessert, but our place mats and glasses of water were removed so we decided to move on. It's a pity because the decor is warm and classy and the food is good, but I would not recommend this place and would not return. There are other Thai restaurants in Dublin serving good food and where the staff actually like the customers.

Have eaten here on a number of occasions, and always enjoy the food and atmosphere. The chefs are very accommodating and will do their best to facilitate special dietry requirements. Great for parties, romantic dates or casual lunch. Fantastic Cosmos too!

Had the Bangkok lunch with some colleagues - a great lunch deal. Duck soup, chicken balls, chili beef and rice for €12.95. Portions are the perfect size for lunch and the food is really good quality. A really good lunchtime offer.

Some friends and myself took advantage of the meal for two offer, with a bottle of wine included, all for 60 euro. Excellent value and the service was notable. The staff were friendly and unobtrusive and the food was given the thumbs up all round. Personally, I enjoyed the Diep Mix starter but found my main course of Pad Thai to be a little bland. Other options on the menu had more bite and were very popular with my fellow diners. Finished out the night with cocktails served at the tables by the bar - expensive but well worth it!

I had lunch here just before Christmas for the first time with a large group and it was just lovely. The food was delicious - a selection of tasty starters and a good vegeterian curry for mains. I really liked the decor and the atmosphere and everyone in our party was happy with their food. A great place for lunch and I look forward to having dinner there sometime soon hopefully.

Great food, great sevice, great place! 3 of us went for dinner - we got the special offer (3 courses for 2 plus bottle of wine for €60) and the food was great! Particularly loved the duck starter! The wine was super too! I'll definitely be back!

We managed to get a table for 6 of us after the Six Nations game. We were in great spirits and the restaurant didn't disappoint. We shared 3 starters and then had a variety of main courses. The food was delicious, fresh and steaming hot. The service was very prompt and efficient. The bill was about €250 for the 6 of us, including wine and a couple of cocktails, which is good value.

Amazing food and service in a great, modern setting. Love this restaurant, though at the prices, it's hard to justify a more regular visit than special occasions, unless the celtic tiger finds it's way back home!

Poor... It's big hall, with plenty tables packed in. Food was very poor and wine expensive. I think I'll stick to Diep Noodle, the balance of value and good food is better there...

Can't wait to go back. We enjoyed scrumptious authentic wonderful Thai food. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was good, even though we went late evening for the early bird menu (ends 8pm). The early bird was really great value. The waiter enthusiastically answered our queries on ingredients (their spices are imported every week from Bangkok)and flavours and made us feel very welcome and unrushed. The food tasted exactly the same as it did when we holidayed in Thailand last year...We'll definitely be back!

I've been to this restaurant twice before and will be going this weekend. One of my visits was a corporate party, the other a girl's night with two friends. Both times the food was wonderful and the staff were helpful and friendly. The cocktails were wonderful, they even had a Christmas specials menu for the time of year that was in it. There is only one downside I could give and that's that it's too popular now. I have been trying since early December to get a booking and they've been booked out almost every time I've tried. The atmosphere both times I've gone has been fairly quiet as we've been seated up on the balcony which seems to be a bit removed from the main floor of the restaurant, but after a few cocktails we were able to make our own!

I have eaten here on a number of occasions with my partner and have always found the food, service and atmosphere excellent. I'm a huge fan of their tiger prawns with a side order of broccoli stems - delicious! And the chocolate and chilli brownies are to die for! Was here on Saturday night with a group of 5 friends who were highly impressed and promised to return. Oh... and great cocktails too! A very enjoyable evening out.

I was here for a late lunch. It was empty which didn't help the atmosphere but I had been here before so I know it can be better when there are more people in. We had a selection of startes all superb. I had Bhu Phad Pong Karli which was fantastic. Others weren't so impressed - especially with the singapore fried noodles. All in all - a good experience.

Great Food For Thai Lovers.... If you like Thai food and your in the city centre then this is the place to go. Went here for the early bird. Good value at €39.50 each, the wine is not cheap so this brought the bill up but it was a good bottle. The service is very professional and friendly. The main menu is pricey, but if it's a special night you are going out on then you can't ask for a better place. Be warned if a meal has three chillies against it, it is very hot, I've been in Indian restaurants with a simular rating yet this place was a lot hotter..... still gorgeous food either way. With the Pembroke bar around the corner (1 min walk) it's in a good location to finish off your night without too far to walk. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Love Diep, in fact its probably my favourite restaurant at the moment. Nice bar area at the front where you can enjoy one of thei yummy cocktails with prawn crackers before going to your table. The starts are all fab, particularly the dim sum special if its on. Love all of the main courses, espcially the stir fried beef with garlic and chili. One gripe-the portions are very small considering how expensive they are. However they are all delicious and, if having a starter, just filling enough. Atmosphere is great and service is always exemplary, staff are very attentice without being annoying. Cant really find fault with this place, pricey but worth it

I usually enjoy the food in Diep but the last time I went for lunch and was quite disappointed. I started with the Tom Yaam Goong (why is it that no where seems to do straw mushrooms in this dish??) which was enjoyable but certainly didn't deserve the three chili rating it got on the menu! Then for the main course went for a fish dish with pac choi and soy dressing; this dish had very little flavour to it and hence my low rate on the food. The other dishes were lovely though, as were desserts. Presentation is wonderful as ever and the staff were fantastic.

Have been here a few times now, and love going back. The food is always gorgeous, I'm addicted to the prawn crackers on the tables. The cocktails are a nice alternative to dessert as well if you're on a night out. Last time we visited we didnt have a booking and the restaurant was pretty full, but they still accommodated us which was brilliant. Absolutely love the singapre noodles, keep promising to change my order but they're just too good to pass up.

This place is perfection. I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday on Wednesday, and instead of being rushed to our table when we entered, we were invited to have a cocktail first in the bar, which is a nice touch. The cocktails in here are very good, especially the Singapore Sling! We took our table in our own time and the food was incredible - we had one of the specials which was a mixture of scallops, prawns and mussels in a delicate spicy sauce, and you can determine how spicy you want it. With Pad Thai and a mixed vegetable dish, it made for a really good meal. The atmopshere in Diep is relaxed, and the tables are sufficiently set out so that you're not listening to other people's conversations. And the best bit was the price - which given all the cocktails was very reasonable. Will definately be back!

Ate here with three friends on Saturday night. Although we were running a half an hour late, there was no problem keeping our table. The atmosphere was great from the moment we entered to leaving. We all enjoyed a cocktail first. The quality of the food was generally very good and quite tasty. Two main courses that were 'mild' were very spicy but we kept them rather than waiting for two fresh meals. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the night. With the high food prices, a few cocktails and a few bottles of wine it certainly adds up and was very expensive. Despite this, the food is good quailty and there is a great buzz, so we will be back.

We all enjoyed our food and the service was very good here on a busy weekend night. I had the dim sum to start, followed by the scallops and the chilli chocolate brownie and a coffee- along with 2 glasses of wine, my bill came to 60 euro...and it really is the price that is my main gripe. Diep le Shaker provides excellent quality food, but to be honest, I think it's too expensive and just not special enough to be worth such a dent in the pocket.

I had hear mixed reviews about Diep but kept an open mind. The service was great and we were shown to our table quickly. The cocktails were fantastic and the bar service is great. However, the food was a let down. It is overpriced for the quality of the dish. The dessert cocktails were very good. I think you are paying for the whole experience of the evening, which was very enjoyable. However, I would not be in any rush back for the food

Ate dinner with some friends on Saturday 24th May, the atmosphere was excellent, the staff looked after us really well, our waiter had only commenced employment the week before and was excellent. We had only one issues with some of food we ordered if was described on the menu as being spicy and hot but was not, although it was extremely tasty. I would still highly recommend visiting….

Nice atmosphere with live music however it was very noisy and quite cold. Food was very nice but you would need to get extra portions if you were very hungry. Vegetarian menu was quite bland, nothing majorly exciting on it. Would recommend the red curry though.

Over the past five or so years I have visited Diep now and again, lunches mainly and the odd dinner. If you like Thai style food then you will like Diep, its not the cheapest place, and it has it's "great" days and its "just ok" days, but overall the service and quality of the food is pretty good and I will continue to return there.

Ate here for a treat two weeks ago and had a great nite. Had a great welcome by the maitre d! Had the platter starter to start. The prawn satay was amazin and then had the lamb massaman which was nice but very heavy compared to some massamans I have had. Ice cream for dessert was light enough after the heavy meal, then enjoyed a few cocktails at the bar. A great nite was had by all, not sure if it would be my favourite of the Thai restaurants in Dublin but would definitely go back.

I recently organised a group of 16 to go to Diep Le Shaker. I must say that I was delighted with the food but quite taken aback by the attitude of the staff! The same comment was made by many of our party. The booking was made 6 weeks in advance (credit card provided) and yet when we walked in we were directed to 2 circular tables despite having booked a large long table upstairs. When this was drawn to their attention we were dismissed. A few days before the reservation I also recieved a phone call from a member of staff who immediately threatened to cancel our booking as I had not gotten back to them in the required time to confirm choice of banquet menu....this was completely not the case as I had spoken to her colleague 2 days previously. No apology was given. I will not be booking this restaurant again as nothing is worth being treated rudely on a night out.

Saturday night was my first visit to this restaurant and I am sad to say I shall not be returning. We were a party of 30. Due to circumstances out of our control six of us were delayed in arriving at the restaurant. My mother was greeted by a curt "you're late, this table was booked at 7 and we want it back at 9".I have never seen my Mum stuck for words!!She felt uncomfortable for the rest of the evening. We were stuck in a corner up against a wall making it impossible to get in and out to the loo. At 8.30 we were told "you have half an hour left"!! again at 8.45. This continued until the bill was placed in front of us at 9.00. We went down stairs to order cocktails and received the same bad attitude. We spent over €3000 here but we may have been spending €3.00. They certainly didn't seem to appreciate our business and made us feel we were something they picked up on the sole of their shoes!! Compliments however must be given to their chefs as the food was delicious.I just hope they extend more gratitude and appreciation to them than they did to us. The managers/owners would do well to recruit friendlier staff before they are left with an empty restaurant.

Have been here many times and always enjoyed it however I think it is starting to fall behind other restaurants. My last visit myself and my partner spent most of the time trying to move the table back and forward so we could take turns to breath as our table was backed right up onto the table behind us. very unpleasant. We had the table until 9 however at 8:35 the waitress put the bill in front of us and simply said "this table is booked at 9 so here is your bill". Quite rude in my opinion and very unprofessional. I also noticed that the food came out quite quickly too so not much time to digest. The only plus was the food itself which was, as always, very tasty. I used to think of this restaurant as the type of place you went to for a special occasion however it has lost the wow factor so I wouldn't be bothered trying to impress someone here. Will go again but only for a casual dinner if all other restaurants are booked up.

I've eaten in this restaurant a number of times over the last few years. Equally good for a work night out or dinner with friends. The food has always been consistenly good and do not leave without trying a Flirtini cocktail! The shareed starter plater is great for trying a little of everything - fish cakes (particularly good!), chicken satay, prawns, beef satay, spring rolls and dipping sauces. Over the years I've tried most things on the menu, all good but my favourites are the chicken or beef with bird's eye chilli and basil and the whole cripy seabass - delicious!!!. The restraunt is set over two floors and is always busy. The staff are well informed and can explain the ingredients to all dishes. It is a little on the pricey side but well worth a visit.

I went here last fri with my boyfriend. Loved the atmosphere, decor, food and cocktails. We were seated beside the bar at a lovely spacious table. Waiting staff did their job perfectly - unintrusive but at the same time were on hand to answer questions regarding various dishes, and service was prompt but not too quick. We both really enjoyed our chosen dishes and desserts were fab too. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who appreciates good food and a lovely atmosphere.

We visited this restaurant for my Dad's birthday and it was lovely... tables not as squashed as previous comments say.. food was delicious.. main courses are large portions... you could nearly skip the starters. Cocktail menu extensive but very pricey!!!! €10/13. Although starters arrived quick, there was a longer wait for our mains. nice for a treat.

I personally feel that this place is overrated. First of all, the place is too crowed, they tried to squeeze more tables (hence people!) in and as a result, your seats are more likely to be squashed up. The service..I don't even know where to begin with..they're not exactly rude, but let's just say that they won't treat you equally if you don't have the posh look. The food is, on top of being overpriced, not authentic at all. I really don't mind paying a lot for a decent meal, but there's just nothing worthwhile to give me a reason to go back.

Had dinner here on Friday night and it was delicious. Great menu with lots of choice. The restaurant was packed, good atmosphere. Our table for two was a little bit tight, upstairs along the wall. Cocktails were fantastic! A little bit expensive but worth it for a treat.

I ate here last Friday. It was probably a bad choice of evening as the place seemed to be full of office groups out on the razzle and the music was very loud. Our table for 2 was right next to a very loud drunken party of 13. The food was OK but I was expecting it to be better. There was far too much chilli in some of our dishes and not enough authentic Thai ingredients used. There was one very good waitress but unfortunately we received most of our service from her seemingly inexperienced colleague. I may go back but certainly not on a Friday evening.

Diep is always a favourite, lovely atmosphere, nice decor, food is always great. A bit expensive but it's worth it. There is a great cocktail menu as well. They keep strictly to the time and give you your bill just before you're due to leave which is kinda annoying but otherwise no complaints.

Had a great meal here. Went with my girlfriend. Service was excellent. There is great choice on the menu and the waitress was very helpful with the questions we had. The cocktails were something else and I'll definitely be back just to try them again. I thought there could have been more dessert choices but the chocolate brownie we had was beautiful. The meal was expensive enough but well worth the money

I are here with 3 friends. The atmosphere was relaxed and the food was fantastic. The starters were very small but the main courses were all really good. Our waiter was friendly but interrupted our conversation unnecessarily on a few occasions. I will come back again and sample some of the delicious looking cocktails.

I've eaten here many times over the past 4 years; but the last two times were not up to it's usual standards. The food is good but I couldn't say that there was much difference between here and its sister restaurant in Ranelagh (which is cheaper). Their cocktails are great but @ €12+ each they are a little on the pricey side. For atmosphere would recommend downstairs on the last sitting. They've changed the egg noodles to the thread noodles which I'm not a fan off so perhaps that did put me off considering I was looking forward to them so much. All in all a good place to eat especially with a group.

The good: Food is gorgeous and lovely presented. The bad: Pricey for the amount of food you get, staff sometimes looks down on you and felt like I have to be grateful to get a table in the first place. Verdict: Lovely for a romantic night out (if it's not too noisy from a large group beside you)or for a treat.

I ate here last Saturday night and I have to say that I disagree with some of the comments below. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were made to feel very welcome by the very friendly and helpful staff. The food was delicious and the cocktails to die for, there was also a really nice atmosphere in the restaurant.Although we would have liked to stay a little longer at our table it was our choice to take the earlier sitting and it was explained to us that our table was only available for two hours.I'll be back.

Had a staff do there last night. Place was too packed with very rude and unhelpful staff, terrible food and was told the bar closed at 8.30. It was a matter of pack them in give them rubbish and get the money and get them out as quickly as possible. A fitting end to the Celtic Tiger.

Was here last week at lunchtime for an office party and it was ok. Pretty small portions and waiters who seemed hassled and overworked. I wasn't paying but I felt the portions were small for the relatively expensive price. I went for a burger a couple of hours later. Food was on the whole pretty tasty but I do feel, from my experience, it does not merit the glowing reviews here. Maybe it was because of the busy party season, but I felt somewhat let down.

I've been to this restaurant on a number of occasions and have enjoyed it every time. In my view this must be one of the best Thai restaurants in Dublin. I have tried a different dish on each visit and I have yet to be disappointed. The atmosphere can be a little bit dull on a quiet night (this probably applies to all restaurants) but when it is busy this restaurants really buzzes. Contrary to the hot food I've found that the staff can be a little bit luke warm in terms of friendliness. Having said that, the general level of service is fine. If Thai food is your thing then add Diep le Shaker to your 'Must Visit' list.

Best enjoyed on a busy night. Arrive early and enjoy a drink at the bar where you can pretend to look at the menu but in reality you're there to watch the customers. People watching addicts can book a table upstairs at the rail otherwise stay downstairs to be in the thick of things. The food is excellent and Diep used to be only one of two places in Dublin to enjoy good Thai food. Diep still holds its own for offering a great night out. Generally the service is very good to excellent and they know how to look after a group out to enjoy themselves. I believe the owner used to be in banking so the prices are not bargain basement level.

What started out as a different dining experience in Dublin has turned out to be an overpriced conveyor belt for mediocre Thai Food. However if you are looking for a fun night out, it is a great place to go for atmosphere and the music is brilliant. Their cocktail menu is great.

Had a late lunch in Diep on Friday, place was fairly empty and we were starving! Service was slow but good, wine list was excellent but the food was to die for. Everyone ordered individual dishes so we all had a taste of each other's and really you could not fault the food it was really really good. Star dish had to be the lamb - perfect!

It'd be hard to find a problem with this restaurant. From the minute you arrive you are greeted by friendly and attentive staff. The food is the best Thai i've found. Definitely recommend the Diep Hors D'oeuvres to start....amazing. The coktail menu is great too. Good food and good service but be prepared to pay for it (well worth every penny).

Took my boyfriend for his birthday. Really nice welcome from the manager as we walked through the door. Fantastic looking restaurant. The food was very tasty with a good varied selction. A couple of our dishes we asked to have toned down as they were marked with four chillies on the menu. This was not a problem. Great wine. Good service.Very enjoyable experience. Would recommend.

I have eaten here several times and cannot fault anything. The menu is fantastic. The food is always excellent and so fresh. It probably has the best service in Dublin. We prebooked and got a warm welcome at the door. We spotted that all the tables had prawn crackers on them, except ours. We thought they might come. The restaurant only had 9 customers at that hour and the (plenty) staff were chatting and pottering around, eventually we had to ask for the crackers. I happened to overhear from the table behind us that they had lobster as a special. Our waitress did not mention the specials, we had to ask for it ourselves. The rest of the evening the service was very good, fast, very attentive and a happy smiley waiter. The food was ok, nicely spiced, lobster was overcooked or maybe frozen. Prices of the beer are not mentioned anywhere, quite expensive €5.50 for a small bottle of beer. Decor was bland, bit bad 70's style, would be a lot nicer if it was rustique Thai. Noisy when the place starts to fill up. Overall an ok experience but I would not rush back.

Twenty of us had prebooked and pre-ordered for a 9pm sitting, but had to stand outside for almost ten minutes before they could even get us room at the bar. 9.30 we where finally seated and by 10 we where tucking into our starters. Overall the food itself was well worth the wait- and the waitresses were very knowledgeable on the cuisine and two of our party with special dietary needs were well looked after. Fantastic food but could do with accepting a few less bookings- as the initial waiting period meant that our later plans were compromised

I have eaten here on numerous occasions and always found the food delicious and the service excellent. On more recent occasions I feel the restaurant has slipped back. The last time I was there at the end of Aug I found the sticker still on a green pepper in my main course. Better value can be had in other Thai restaurants. Won't be rushing back.

Went here for lunch with a group of 8. Found the service impeccable, food was great, too easy to eat too much, though I can hardly blame the restaurant for that! Had the salad to start, full of ripe mango, and melt in your mouth. Had Chicken stir-fry with cashew nut for main, asked for light chilli and they complied with my wishes to perfection. I will definitely be back.

I have to say this is my new favourite restaurant. The staff are great. Very attentive even though the restaurant was busy. The food was amazing. I especially liked the starter platter as I can never choose a starter as I want them all. It came with chicken, beef and prawn satay skewers, ribs, spring rolls and little fish cakes. Ribs just fell off the bone and the spring rolls are so nice. The cocktail menu is huge. Could have a few more desserts but the dessert of the day, which was the mousse, was amazing. All in all I would recommend this place to anyone who likes Thai food. Bit pricey but well worth every cent.

I've been here a few times, once for lunch the rest dinner visits. I have to say- I love the aromatic duck starter. And my favourite main is definitely the Pad Thai. Delicious! However I would say that in the evenings the restaurant gets VERY noisy, may be its just the balcony area, but I found myself straining to hear what others at a table of 6 were saying. I would definitely go back...but not for quiet dining!

Diep is always wonderful. I have eaten here on several occasions over the last few years and have never been disappointed. The food has always been top notch and I have even ventured past my usual favourites! The atmosphere and setting is just great for romantic meals and also groups although I will recommend upstairs more for couples given the more intimate layout. The staff have always been brilliant, professional and hardworking, quick to offer great suggestions when asked.

While this is quite a remarkable restaurant with very palatable dishes I have to say the surroundings can be quite pretentious. The staff is rather unpredictable as some days you get a good service and some days you don't. If you want to have a posh dining experience I would recommend this but be prepared to check your bank balance first!

Diep le Shaker was yummy. Not sure about the location (down a lane?), but once you got into the restaurant, the atmosphere/decor was just fab. The food was great (brilliant selection on the menu), but one of our group got beef (which had two chilli's beside it on the menu - means HOT!). She said she didn't want it hot, and the waiter said he'd sort it out. However, it was so hot, nobody could eat it. In fairness to the waiter, he said he'd replace the meal with something else. Overall, really nice restaurant, just watch out for the '2' chillis!!

Definitely the nicest restaurant I have ever eaten in. The food is amazing and the service impeccable. The wonderful cocktails are a great alternative for dessert after the generous starter and main course portions. The food is expensive but well worth it especially for a special occasion.

As a frequent diner in The Noodle Bar I decided to choose Diep for my girlfriend’s birthday. Beautifully comfortable restaurant with a wicked cocktail menu! I had the monkfish, which was pricy but impeccable! Definitely somewhere to visit on a big night out!

Asian Fusion. Like Ronseal, it does exactly what it says on the tin. If you enjoy Asian cuisine this is a must. A tad on the pricey side but you get what you pay for, flawless service and mouth watering food.

My 1st visit to Diep Le Shaker has guaranteed numerous return visits. Being almost 20mins late for the booking I rang the restaurant who assured me this would not be a problem (I had reservations about this as we only had the table for 2hrs!) I had Satay Gai for starter, which was delicious! For main I had Chicken Phad Thai, which was just as good (if not better) than in Bangkok! The selection of Sorbet was most enjoyable. Service was excellent. After dinner we still had time to relax & enjoy finishing our bottle of wine.

I had heard so much about this restaurant but was very disappointed by the experience. The service, while efficient was sterile and generally unwelcoming. Because there was a large group, we were given the taster menu. The starters were dry and bland. Main course was nice but because we had to leave our table by 9, they were taken away quickly. In general I found it to be completely over priced, crowded and unfriendly. I wouldn't recommend it.

I had heard so much about this place I was really looking forward to it, so I got to try it at last on Friday, it is VERY busy, nearly too busy, the noise level was quite high as everyone competed with each other and the music. Our food was lovely, I cannot fault that at all, but I had also just tried their Diep Home service the week before and I have to say in future I will be getting it delivered to me, it is much much cheaper and the food is still fab, I wont be going there again but I will be enjoying Diep food in the comfort of my own home!

Following a lunch here recently, I am still wondering what all the fuss is about. The food was good, but far from superior. There were many requests to the waiting staff falling on deaf-non-native-English speaking ears, followed by a ".......yes", when the question was "what’s the dessert special". Not so sure I would be running back.

My first time to Diep le shaker was last week for lunch. We'd heard it was pricey, but I have to say the food was gorgeous, so tasty - definitely one of the best meals I've had in the last few months. I'll be going again, and as for the price - I think it was well worth it, I couldn't have been any more satisfyingly full when I left!

Had a great meal here, the services was good sometimes too good.... plates being whipped out from beneath your nose as soon as you took the last mouthful. Cocktails are very very good. Would definitely recommend.

I used to be a big fan of Diep, but there's been a lot of key staff changes over the last year or two, and on the evidence of a recent lunch the cracks are begining to show. The food is not as good as it used to be( lacking both freshness and honesty), and I suspect it's down to poorer ingredients and a kitchen that's coasting. The service is still very professional, but the food left me with the impression that this is a restaurant basking on past glory.

Was here about a month ago…the place looks lovely, very classy furnishings, cutlery, presentation etc. It was a Thursday we went to so it got really busy after 8 pm. The food was really good and the service impeccable. Shame we had such a stiff waiter, he seemed almost annoyed that he had to wait us! Still the food is so good we didn’t care. We had the fish wrapped in banana leafs and one of my friends had the Thai-chilli stir-fry if I remember correctly and I have to say it was outstanding! Dessert was delicious too –fried bananas with vanilla ice cream…yum! Not cheap at all thou! Better save up before treating yourself!

I love this place, have been on many occasions and went again last Friday night and have never been let down... I’m sort of waiting for a bad experience, but it just never happens! The service from the moment you walk in is outstanding, it’s all class. There is a cosy bar area to have a pre-dinner drink whilst you browse the menu, and the cocktails are outstanding. Once seated for your meal, the tables are positioned to give a bit of space, which allows for that bit of privacy. And of course the food is outstanding!

In Diep for lunch for the first time recently, heard it was good but must say the food was fantastic, service excellent and the wine, which the waiter helped choose, was very good. Not a cheap restaurant but a case of you get what you pay for - will definitely go again.

At Diep Le Shaker we were welcomed by Alex and Colin. The dining room is really hip and busy on the ground floor and their Buddha Bar seemed to be putting out great cocktails almost every minute. The food was simple, tasty, good portions and great variery. When you go to a Thai restaurant outside Thailand and you know that all their chefs are Thai, then you can expect something good- Diep did deliver and our party of three enjoyed a fantastic dining experience. The banana fritters were the BEST I ever had outside Sri Lanka! Price wise it may be a bit expensive for Thai cuisine but other than that this is a place I would strongly recommend to everybody.

Ok I am doing reviews by the dozen and looking up places I visit frequently and even places I have had terrible experiences with in the past as I am having a blast with this review lark on MenuPages, by the way folks, keep up the work on a damn fine site! Ok DLS is possibly one of the cleanest dining establishments I have eaten in for a long time, even the staff are turned out polished and crisp. The food is divine, simply delicious, but to combine Thai style with French in an atmosphere of jazz music with white crisp linen at the table and superb service, who would have thought it? It all fits so well in real life even if not on paper. I love it and will save up to go again....!

Diep le Shaker is in the alley behind where I work and is hard to surpass it when you are entertaining a client for lunch. The other day was the first time I had been for dinner and my positive thoughts remain intact. On arrival, our table was not ready, so we were shown to the "bar" area where I thought it only right to have some cocktails. A very well made Moscow Mule and Mojito (spelling?) later we were shown to our table. We both had variations of Tom Yaam soup, which were eye watering for all the right reasons. For mains, my sea bass cooked in salt was exquisite and I am reliably informed that the Thai Green curry was lovely too. Our wine waitress was very well informed and even pointed us away from a particular selection given our choice of mains. I still find Diep quite claustrophobic when it's full but such minor quibbles do not detract too far from the overall effect.

Went to Diep on Satuday night. We were a party of ten and were celebrating a birthday. The food was lovely although I had to send my chicken dish back as the chicken was raw but to the hostess' credit I was given a fresh dish very quickly. My partner had the sea bass which was beautiful. The starters and main dishes were very prompt and the portion sizes were good. My main gripe was with the extras, many of the party had steamed rice with their meals and thus our steamed rice bill came to €25 which I felt was crazy for the two large bowls of steamed rice that were on our table. The cocktails are amazing and the staff treated us very well and provided a birthday dessert for the birthday girl which was a nice touch. I do feel that this restaurant is probably better suited for smaller groups and I will go back.

Went there with work a while back. Excellent service and food. As there was such a large group they went with a kind of taster menu - multiple dishes of which everyone has a taste/helping of each. It's actually a great way to try lots of dishes on the menu, ensure everyone’s food arrives at the same time and accommodate different likes and dislikes. They kept us happy fed and watered long past our time to relinquish our table and were very polite and friendly.

I visited this restaurant last week with a group of friends, on arrival we decided to have a drink outside first, so that the few smokers could have their fix before sitting down. Although the guy who greeted us was very pleasant, one of the female waitresses was very rude when we attempted to buy some drinks at the bar "you can't stand there" she barked, "I'll come out and take your order" she never arrived to take our order so after 15 minutes waiting we went straight to our table. Although this introduction to Diep le shaker was off putting to say the least, the rest of the evening was a pleasure, the food was first class and after plenty of wine and cocktails the bill was reasonable, can't wait to return, just hope scary waitress isn't around!!

I was in Diep Le Shaker on a Saturday night recently (7th April) with a group of four. We greeted by Chris and he was very friendly and welcoming and showed us to our table downstairs, one of the party had been to the restaurant previously and enquired if there would be a table avalible upstairs. This was no problem and we were promptly seated at a lovely table in the far corner of the upstairs. All the waiting staff great in particular our waitress with the blonde hair was fab, the way she listed off the specials and explained each of them was great. We ordered two portions of the Diep H’orderves between the four of us, (I hate ordering a starter & main courses in a restaurant and being too full after the started to enjoy the main dish), the waitress talked us through what was what on the plate. I had the red Thai chicken curry & cheekily requested a few prawns in it too, my boyf had the Singapore noodles, while the others had the duck noodles dish and prawns with ginger. The noodles were fantastic, when I go again I am definitely going to order some noodles. After the main course we were too full for dessert but decided to sample some dessert cocktails instead. The bill including two bottles of wine & the cocktails was better than I expected it to be at €210…. I will go back but will probably leave it a little while.

I brought my husband here for a birthday treat. We were seated straight away and given our menus. Our waiter was fine, maybe a bit too hurried though, as we barely had time to ask questions about the menu. We were a bit miffed when quite a large amount of wine was spilled on our table when he was pouring it for us though, but these things happen. Our meal was really excellent and exactly what we were hoping for. An authentic Thai meal can be difficult to get in Dublin, but this place really is delicious. Unfortunately Diep is one of those many restaurants who insist on charging rice portions as expensive extras, but that seems to be the norm so what can you do!? Our waiter became harder and harder to track down as our meal progressed. He was exceptionally quick, however, in clearing plates and topping up wine. When we asked about a dessert option, he briefly slowed down as he passed out table to tell us what the specials were, but never returned to offer a full desert menu or take our order. We asked another waiter for the menu and ordered from him. This other waiter was also useful when we decided that we probably wouldn't get too far out the door without paying, despite our original waiter's distinct lack of interest in offering a bill. Overall though, I must say that it was a very pleasant and tasty dining experience. I wouldn't let a busy waiter put me off a return trip or be a deciding factor in whether or not to suggest the restaurant to anyone else. We will certainly be back! For two starters, two main courses, two portions of rice a litre bottle of water and one dessert it came to €120.

I had not been to Diep Le Shaker for quite some time and shortly after arriving on my last visit, Wednesday lunchtime, I soon realised why. Despite its attempt to impress it really was rather average. While the staff were friendly and efficient, especially our attentive waiter, the food was uninspiring and the ambience far from pleasant. From the variety of dishes, starters and main courses, that my two companions and I ordered all failed to impress and I for one left feeling unsatisfied. Meanwhile the choice of Latin music at lunchtime in a Thai restaurant was, to say the least, strange. With far better dining options in this locale I fear it will again be some time before I return to this eatery.

I must admit the food here is amazing but I think its a little overpriced for Thai, but then it is a great place if you have a bit of extra money and you don’t mind paying a bit more for some spring rolls and a delicious chicken dish. The atmosphere is great and the staff are lovely!

Really enjoyed Diep Le Shaker on the 3 occasions I have visited. Staff are extremely friendly and prompt. We were looked after for the entire evening without having to try and wave down our waiter or get his attention. The menu is varied and the food is delicious. The cocktails are definitely worth a try. In my opinion this restaurant is fairly priced for the food and service received. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

We walked in without a booking on a busy night and the waiter did his best to get us a seat asap. My boyfriend ordered a half bottle of wine - they had none left so gave him a full bottle to drink "half of". Friendly, accommodating staff, a lively atmosphere and good food. We had some very nice cocktails for dessert. It could be a bit more reasonably priced but other than that, no complaints.

THE STAR RATING I'VE GIVEN SAYS IT ALL!!! Ok. I'll embellish a little. Yum Yum Yum. After reading a MenuPages review, which slated Diep, I was a little hesitant on my first visit there. The other reviewer must have been in a parallel dimension. This place, the staff, the food and the atmosphere were absolutely excellent. I had bbq prawns to start and double baked sea bass for main course. Both were outstanding. And contrary to another reviewer who recommended stopping by a chip shop on the way home to fill up, I found the portions filling (6'2" & 16 stone = my big appetite). For 4 people inc 3 €36 bottles of wine it was €300. Under €50 each for high quality food. I'll definitely go again.

Wonderful experience. Arrived at 9.30pm on Saturday night, nice buzz in the place. Not one of these stuffy traditional Chinese/Thai restaurants. Immediately our coats were taken and we were escorted to our seats. We received a nice bowl of proper prawn crackers with a food and wine menu each. We ordered two bottles of water, sparkling and still. We were surprised to receive two one and a half litre bottles but we certainly needed them! Mixed platter to start, chilli prawns and chilli beef for main course. Excellent food and top class service. A little pricy at €120 excluding tip, but I suppose it is city centre.

This used to be my favourite restaurant in Dublin and we would go maybe once a month but the past few visits have been very disappointing it seems to have been taken over by large office groups who are standing over your table as you try to eat I hope someone sorts this out as I had to complain on my last two visits one member of a group actually leaned on our table as he was waiting on his jacket. Cocktails are amazing and the food is great (seems to have dropped a little) but still highly recommend it try to get a table downstairs though a little more room!

This place is fab - have been there a few times and it never disappoints. The service is second to none, the menu diverse and interesting, the food fresh and tasty and the atmosphere electric. Only thing I would say is that it is a little on the pricey side, however that would never stop me going back as I've had so many great meals there. GO NOW!

Some things were not on the menu as they were just about to change it, but good service and overall great quality food. Will certainly come back.

BEST Thai food in town! Not only delicious but also authentic, and I haven't been to another 'Thai' restaurant in town I could say that about. Diep is always a hit. If you want to impress someone, this is the place! They also have a cocktail bar in the front of the restaurant that is a real treat and where a lady can wait for her party and still have a good time just tasting the novelty drinks. .Food is gorgeously presented, and the staff are very professional - their recommendations are not to be taken lightly. Some nights they also bring in a nice jazz band, lending to the modern and sophisticated atmosphere.

Excellent. The only bad thing is that your time at your table is limited. And although I know this is the case for almost all popular restaurants, Le Guelleton is one that has the complete package and therefore I can't rate this one as the best in town.

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. Every time you go, it is of the same high standard as before. The food is divine, wine menu fabulous and the staff are very attentive (possibly too attentive!) Atmosphere is always great as the place is always packed out. Just love this place, its pricey but well worth it for the treat!!!

I LOVE this place!!! Having been to Thailand before, this is the only place in Dublin that serves proper Thai food. It is quite pricey but SOOOOO worth it!! You have to get the started platter to start or the fish cakes and the Tigers Cry sirloin is the most melt in your mouth meat, there is no other restaurant in Dublin serving food this good!!

I love this place, okay I may be a bit biased because this is my favourite food but here it’s just fantastic! The decor is really nice and relaxing. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I say this because we ordered our starter, and ummm well we weren’t sure what to do with it but the waitress explained what it was (it was chicken wrapped in banana leaves) to us. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Had our Christmas party here last year and will be going back this year. The restaurant it bright and airy and usually you'll spot someone you know. The food is beautiful, there were 4 of us there and each plate was scraped clean. The bill wasn't astronomical but the food was so fresh that you would be willing to pay extra anyway.
